Maybe? Maybe we drank the Kool-Aid
By NewHampster on September 9, 2008 at 8:34 PM in Democrats, MSM, Republicans, Sexism
The gang asked me to cross-post this from my site and dang, but I’m so proud and happy that I’ve been trusted to post at NoQ. Sends tingles down my big toe. Or is that the gout?

Maybe we’ve been had. I mean it. Maybe for the last X years we’ve been drinking kool-aid. Maybe, just maybe we’ve been listening to the wrong people. We all know the world is upside down. We’re living a Vonnegut novel that ends before it starts, where left is right and right is left. Up is down and down is up. A fantasy world where Democrats follow a Rovian Rasputin and Republicans follow a Truthsayer.
Well here’s something else to think about.
We just had our first Tweety Awards over at Alegre’s and gave a deserving Maureen Dowd the honor of being the first.
Think for a minute about all our nominees and the nominees we’ll be tearing apart next week. Tweety, Markos, Dowd, Cafferty, Jeralyn, Sally Quinn, Andrew Sullivan, Campbell Brown. A few others were suggested but the point is. Find me a winger in the list. Find me a Fox news commentator. Find an O’Reilly, Gibson, Novak, Kristol or Will.
Sexism, Misogyny, whatever you call it seems to be coming from the left not the right.
I had the thought that maybe they’ve been preparing to do battle with Hillary for the last few years and intentionally dropped sexism from their commentary. But I don’t really think so.
What I saw Wednesday night was a Republican party that does what successful republican business people do. They may fight change but know when to quit, accept change, embrace it then move on. Highly successful businesses, when they see game changing technology coming, buy it and embrace it while their competition gets rolled over. The Boston Globe, purchased by the NY Times, was an early big investor in the Web because they follow the theory that it’s better to be the one putting your old ways out of business than to let other people do it to you.
We think Republican’s fight change and in moral and some policy ways they do, but sometime back a decade or so they saw strong women wanting to get involved. Being smart men they shut up, embraced the women and moved-on. On the other side, being a Dem all my life, the Democratic party is stifling. There is no room for people who don’t believe in Gay marriage or abortion. Either you tow the “progressive” line or get out. Another way to look at it is how the South, the home of the KKK and last bastion of segregation, is now so much more liberated than many of our know it all Northern states and cities. Things end, the fight is over and people move on. Many times those closest to the fight have the easiest time embracing former enemies (politicians too, unlike us supporters).
Two or three times in our history the parties have flipped. Before the last flip, the anti-slavery, federalist Republicans of Abraham Lincoln fought the slave owning Democrats.
At the second Republican national convention, in 1860, a hard-fought contest resulted in the presidential nomination of Abraham Lincoln. The Republican platform specifically pledged not to extend slavery and called for enactment of free-homestead legislation, prompt establishment of a daily overland mail service, a transcontinental railroad, and support of the protective tariff. Lincoln was opposed by three major candidates—Douglas (Northern Democrat), John Cabell Breckinridge (Southern Democrat), and John Bell (Constitutional Union party). Lincoln collected almost half a million votes more than Douglas, his nearest competitor, but he won the election with only 39.8 percent of the popular vote. http://ap.grolier.com/article?assetid=0245550-0&templatename=/article/article.html
Is this one of those times when people on both sides, unknowingly embrace the teachings of the other side and swap places? Have the last eight years so shook the Republican psyche that a few years from now the GOP will be the forward thing party and the Democrats will be stuck in reverse? Please don’t throw the standard liberal arguments at me. Roe, Guns, Taxes, Deficits. I’m here trying to think about where we are in history, not where we’ve been. But, is it possible that the Kool-Aid we’ve been drinking for 40 years, is just that? Kool-Aid.

PER OBAMA is A CLASS ACT

Obama poked fun of McCain and Palin’s new “change” mantra.
“You can put lipstick on a pig,” he said as the crowd cheered. “It’s still a pig.”
“You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It’s still gonna stink.”
“We’ve had enough of the same old thing.”
Obama has NO respect for women. Anyone who thinks he does is fooling themselves.
Nobama
Obama has no respect. He disrespects himself with his comments.
Obama has no respect. He disrespects himself with his comments. His loathesome comments are a reflection on him.
I think Backtrack Barry is feeling a bit tense these days and needs a bit of a release. Maybe Sinclair should give him a jingle.
MAYBE…
those labels work pretty good the other way around
women hating gay guys use “fish” often to refer to women
“women hating gay guys use “fish” often to refer to women”
I’m not really comfortable with this comment, Linda. I had a gay roommate years ago and he was elegant, funny, kind and a wonderful gourmet cook. I met a few of his friends over the three years we shared a house and I was never disrespected by a single one or heard any disparaging comments about women. The only men who have ever been sexist in their behavior toward me have been straight.
I’ve been called a “breeder” twice, both times by gay guys. It’s like their go-to insult, I guess? Meanwhile they had no reason to insult me, in fact in both cases they had only just met me.
You don’t have to be gay to refer to woman as “fish”.
I believe the inference is as old as time.
You don’t have to be gay to refer to woman as “fish”.

Mocking other people in such a crude way is a signature for Obama. Talk about more of the same.
These lines are as chillingly cynical as his “you’re nice enough, Hillary” line that won him so much affection months ago.
The real Obama showed up then and he is finally showing up now. He asks people to hate America and now hate an elderly man and an attractive young lady.
Nice sell, Obama. Keep it up and at least you and your party will know why you lost.
This is only surprising to people that didnt pay attention.
Did someone say class?

New Hampster: My partner and I have been kicking this same point around, trying to make sense of where left-left divisions always end up re women and queers, anyway. Tony Blair made things a lot worse for a lot of (but not all) women in the UK (not that I am a Thatcher fan); lots of lefty men seem to bring out the woman-hating in new ways as they rise to power; women seem to censor themselves on the left where they don’t so much on the right, etc.
I will tell you what is making my heart sing these last 10 days — the sight and sound of the Repubs actually speaking out about misogynist comments like the lipstick/fish pair, and just not buying that its ‘not what he meant.’
The other thing that has lifted my spirits is to see BO trying to attack the Repubs for running what he is calling the ‘gender card,’ apparently thinking that he can convince people that he didn’t play the ‘race card’ when he made up claims of racism, but that the claims of misogyny are unfounded and thus is the ‘gender card.’
I think that the real problem with the left is that they never have treated women seriously enough to embrace equality principles in practice, and just simply can’t see gender perspectives. It’s a strange gender-neutral place, the left.
Thanks for this post!

Obama is a classless idiot.
Now I hope the Democrats will return to the center where the Republicans are heading. It will take a major defeat to happen but well worth it.
I made this argument to my baby boom ultra liberal uncle and he agreed that it happens but disagreed that it is happening now, even though it clearly is. Great post.
Agreed. Great post! And welcome New Hampster – I’ve been a fan for a long time!
The trouble is Democrats have become like drug dealers…they never tell ya this stuff will give you years of spiraling down in mental and physical health, ruin your job, ruin your marriage, kill your future….(As in welfare, higher taxes, bigger government programs.)
No they tell ya this is going to give you a blissful high and take you gently off to sleep.
Great post NH, and welcome to NQ! I’ve been saying this for weeks now (maybe why I think your post is so good
) but without a historical perspective, it’s not obvious to people.
When i refused to kowtow to Bozo and the bots called me a Repub, at first I was insulted. Now, I realize I’m a centrist: not a neocon and not a neolib.
Bozo’s “hope and change” agenda makes clear that the so-called democrats don’t give a flying you-know-what for THE PEOPLE.
Wow. You’ve been hanging around wingers too much.
Government spending and size of government increase much more under Republicans. The economy does much better, and the GNP grows more, when Democrats are in charge. Studies reveal that countries with strong welfare systems fare much better economically than countries with crappy—i.e., Republican style—welfare systems. Abortion rates are lower in countries with liberal abortion laws. And so on.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyrMS6MBuSg
YES!!! Thank you! But Obama is not a liberal, he’s some sort of corporate quasi-communist-theocrat…thingy.
Perry, the only president who has taken charge of the economy and benefited the American people in the last forty years was Bill Clinton, the centrist. You remember him, the one the media and left wing bloggers called a racist while Obama preferred Ronald Reagan as his role model. His campaign ran on “it’s the economy, stupid”. The leaders of the Democratic Party have tried to destroy his legacy and used lies and misrepresentation to slander his wife. I’ll take four years of John McCain if that’s what it takes to cleanse the party of the corrupt element which has created chaos.
I think you might have wandered into the wrong saloon, pardner.
Can you guys believe this? McCain/Palin using the Downs Syndrome baby in a staged political stunt to garner sympathy and swing the vote in PA. A new low in politics. How can you people in good conscience support the wingnuts?
http://kdka.com/local/Palin.Down.Syndrome.2.809737.html
http://www.wpxi.com/video/17384228/index.html
That is your opinion. Do you complain when the Obama’s use their children in events?
In any case we still will never vote for Obama and his Ayers, Rezko and Wright baggage.
Are you for real?
Look dipstip, the family approach Gov. Palin because of their circumstances with a Down child. Every image I have seen of Gov. Palin’s baby in the last week was shown in a tasteful and appropriate manner.
Get use to it because you are going to see it for the next 4 – 8 – 12 years.
Dry up or post something on topic, free-dumb fighter.
Oh yeah…new low, right. Stopping the bus to acknowledge a family that came out to support them.
“”They just came up as warm as could be and said ‘Hi’ and they thanked us for coming,” Kurt said.
Gov. Palin asked if she could hold Chloe. Meantime, Sen. McCain got to know Nolan, Chloe’s big brother.
“They were just really genuine. No rush, down to earth,” Kurt said of the candidates. “At that point they brought down little Trig, their child with Down Syndrome from the bus.”
“I got to see him, it was very emotional for me but I was very proud of him and my daughter and I both kissed him on his chubby little face,” Margie said. “I actually told her her son was beautiful and that they would all be fine and it’s a lot of work but they are very blessed with having a child with Down Syndrome.”
You Obamabots wouldn’t know a GENUINE caring attitude if PIGS (with lipstick) FLEW!
Go back to the cynical cave you crawled out of you pathetic twerp!
wow, Palin did that. I’m sort of suspecting if she is… it might be about making people understand that kids are kids and there is nothing to be frightened of with a Down’s syndrome kid.
I actually think it’s pretty cool. Particularly since Palin says she wants to advance assist for the families of these kids! It has to be very difficult!
Go Sarah…I don’t care if you’re an AoG! You seem genuine to me and THAT is very refreshing.
Pretty touching piece if you ask me.
0bama is going down! PUMA!
What?!? It was blatantly staged, and the Downs Syndrome babies are used as props for political gain. A new low in American politics.
What a crock of manure. The only thing staged was your master’s nomination.
Ferddy,
Did you even goto the links? It was obviously staged. You think someone as old as McCain would be able to pick out a home made sign out of a sea of signs at a rally? Most home made signs are unreadable when more than 10 feet away.
Just because your candidate wouldn’t take 2 steps towards someone for any reason beyond political gain DOESN’T mean everyone is like him.
There certainly haven’t been any warm and touching stories from the Obama campaign trail. If he was on the bus, he probably would have just thrown those people under it
ROFL.
You and people like you, Freedom Fighter, are incredibly sick. Suggesting a baby, any baby is a prop, something to be auctioned off on e-bay?
Come back when you’ve grown a heart and a conscious. You and all the other Obamatrons sicken me with your dispicable spew.
It’s disgusting. And it’s why you and the faux Messiah will lose, big time! Try putting lipstick on your own pig.
You are the new low in American politics.
Oh, Freedom Fighter, I suppose you’re the one who put the baby up for sale on E-bay? Go spew your hate and vitrol at Daily Kos – they’ll LOVE you over there!
Yes, isn’t it awesome to see the way Governor Palin connects with real people and the way her candidacy has focused on the millions of families like my family living with children with disabilities. Way to go Governor Palin!
what the hell is wrong with you! a woman and mother of a down syndrome child who happens to be the repub. vp candidate reaches out to a family with down syndrome and you find it offensive. honestly you need to go into a cave somewhere and try to figure out when you turned into a sub-human.
For a while, I thought he was talking about himself. Oh well.
Classy as usual from Oblabla.
you wouldn’t know sincerity or compassion if it flew out of your ass. You’re pathetic.
Freedumb F what was staged was the DNC convention- the over blown waste of HUGE amounts of money to make a Britney/Obama production was so over the top CRASS, and CROOKED. No real roll call vote.
Obama and Michelle are an insult to most Americans- they HATE America and half the population, white men and women. the HYPOCRISY of the leftnuts and people like Nancy Pelosi, Dean, Donna and the rest of you left Clinton Haters are the STAGED IDIOTS SHOW.
The LEFT have proven that WASTING MONEY in these difficult times and FLAUNTING that is not the party I use to know or belong to.
Obama=Bush#3

Whatever you want to call it, here in PA where we “cling to guns and religion” it will play like it was, genuine affection and respect. Something Obama knows nothing about!
What are you talking about? The family of this little girl held up a large sign saying “We (heart) babies with Down Syndrome.” If McCain/Palin had wanted to play the Down Syndrome card, they could have publically called out and ackowledged these people during the rally, invited them up on the stage, etc. They didn’t. They waited until after the rally and quietly invited the parents back to the campaign bus to talk with them.
People with new babies, babies with special needs, or whatever frequently find ground to instantly bond with each other and share stories, advice, etc. I’ve witnessed this several times between my daughter and other new mothers who were complete strangers to her. Do you suppose this might have been the case here?
It seems to me that you’re the wingnut, ready to find fault with Palin over anything and everything.
Why do you hate children?
Picture this in national TV in prime time FF:
Two little girls and squeals of “Daddy, Daddy …… where are you!!??!!
Picture of an absentee neglectful father. Your man Obama. Unfit to serve or be a parent.
You know, FF, people used to hide special children away from the eye of the public or institutionalize them. Are you aware that the Nazis murdered people other than Jews? They murdered those they said contaminated the Aryan Race, anyone who was born different. You have no morals or compassion so appealing to you on that basis is a waste of time, but perhaps some reality might help. dailykos, huffpo and the others using this line of attack in a political race have planted the seeds of their own destruction because the majority of people in this country have a core decency and they will reject you.
Biden said that Palin being VP is a backward step for woman, Obama calls her a pig and a stink fish, what wonderful candidates from the Democrats.
I hope people like Dean and Nancy are so proud but honestly after this I don’t think I will ever vote democrat again.
Desperation is sinking in
Agree, and this will be painful to watch. The fading scenes of Sunset Blvd redux as Obama’s brittle luster fades in front of the nation eyes.
Even Freedomfighter now has to come here to harrangue because no one is at home in Obamaland anymore.
We will succor you, freedom fighter. You can lay your weary bones here at our feet. You are exhausted and all worn out. Come, come, come to us and we will soothe you.
Ah, but it’s more than name calling Republican candidates pigs and stinky fish; they also cannibalize their own. Who can forget Soretoro/Obama’s notorious finger scratching brush off of his rival Hillary Clinton while helping himself to a heaping dish of her most popular issues.
The only way I see myself voting Dem again is if Hillary is on top of the ticket.
McCain/Palin ‘08
Hillary ‘12
I am even questioning the wisdom of that. The Democratic party is dead, it has become the Republican party of the last 15 years or so. Lying, sexism, racism, no core platform, etc. The ONLY good thing about the democratic party right now is that Hillary is a member. All the rest have got a big bag of nothing to offer unless of course you call capitulation and moral ambiguity something.
Hey, dee4hill – I remember you from TM! Don’t go there anymore! Same here
McCain/Palin 08
Hillary 2012!
SJ… I WOULD remind you that a great number of us here ARE Democrats. We are NOT OBAMACRATS.
I hope you make a distinction because it’s people such as us who are going to be left with the WRECK of a political party thanks to the kind of people Obama brought to the party.
So I hope you can find it in you to make a DISTINCTION between a principled Democrat and an Obot. They are NOT the same thing and we will return to our roots once Obama is defeated.
Yup, it’s our party and we want it back. Fuck ‘em and feed’em oatmeal if they think I’m just going to walk away without a fight.
Indeed, I’ve been musing along the same lines the past few weeks. How could I, a strong Democrat, suddenly be in this position?
I’m appalled at what I’m seeing in the Democratic party. The sexism is mind-boggling. The hate is palpable on every left-leaning, Obama-supporting board. How can these people be the people I’ve identified with the past 8 years, since the Bush Regime came into power?
Indeed, we might’ve been the ones drinking the Koolaid.
It’s plain to see why so many Dems are voting for McCain. The decent people are appalled by the ugliness and meanness of the Obama campaign. Its one thing to go after the ticket, but quite another to use sexism and children for fodder. The ‘bots are indeed repulsive.
MG! I was watching Obama tonite and he looked drugged or could he just be exhausted. Either, he doesn’t look well.
Isn’t Obama’s new kind of politics just great? Ish! I hate that man!
I, too, have been appalled at the way the Democratic Party (and the Obama campaign) has acted in this campaign, first against the Clintons and now against Palin. But the most appalling thing to me is their subversion of the Democratic processes during the caucuses and the convention itself. They seem not to understand that when you subvert the process to steal a nomination, you subvert democracy itself. It’s shameful, and unforgivable. And I’m not at all sure that I can remain a Democrat because of it. My faith in my party (since 1972) has been completely shattered.
I’m sure most of you have already seen this, but if you haven’t, you really must watch the preview of this film in progress about the caucus abuses. Be prepared to feel nauseated.
http://wewillnotbesilenced2008.com/video/index.htm
nauseous?? I laughed myself silly! I live in Nevada and caucused – trust me, the only agression towards me was from the Hillary people – funny how Hillary just didn’t like the caucuses, except for Nevada, where she won!! That caucus was acceptable.
the primaries and caucuses are over…and Obama did not make the rules, okay?
No, but he sure did break them.
The caucus fraud was real and there are many law suits about what occurred by the OBAMACRATS.
There’s a great video about some of the fraud- I don’t have the link handy- over 2000 cases in Texas alone.
Nancy take a break from the kool-aid cause you are VERY wrong.
Dear Carolyn Mann, I watched all the parts of the video documentary, and you are right, I feel nauseated. I can’t shake it. And it’s hard to breathe. The most disturbing thing I saw is the AA woman who marched with Martin Luther King for civil rights for Blacks and she was heart sick when she watched two young Black men intimidate older Black women and other people away from voting if they weren’t voting for Barack Obama.
I am sending a link to this video to many people and outlets.
I am a Republican but an American first and what I saw on this video is unacceptable, sickening and intolerable.
Thank you for sharing it.
http://wewillnotbesilenced2008.com/video/index.htm
Thank you, beth. If enough people watch that video, they might understand that we are not just weepy children upset that our candidate lost. Puhleeze. We’ve backed losing candidates before, and always fell in line.
But what we saw this year, the outright intimidation and voter fraud, ought to concern every American, not just Democrats. THAT is the thing we refuse to “get over”.
You are not reading then. The Obama hate on this as well as many other blogs is SOOOOOOOO serious I cannot believe it. Racist and total hate for this man and his family. All because their idol Hillary did not get the nomination.
Obama is not more sexist than a balloon – he made a joke, big deal. compared to what McCain and Rove are doing, this is kids play and you know it.
Please give me the examples of what you find so appalling???? go to it, Florida, tell me something.
Debating a liberal is like arguing with a drunk guy at a bar: He will never let facts or common sense influence his opinion, because he’s only there for the argument…..
by Mark D.
That is a perfect analogy. The left wingnuts are very liberal with their drinking and drugging. Heck, Obama is a cocaine addict and the leftnuts think that’s fine, yet you should have heard them condemning Bush for the same reason. Such Hypocrits.
Obama=Bush#3
http://wewillnotbesilenced2008.com/video/index.htm film on caucus abuses
that’s a start
Again — and I’ll speak slowly this time since you seem to have a comprehension problem — it’s his perversion of the process I hate. Link on the video I posted above. You’ll find lots of examples of appalling.
And, by the way, how can anything that has been posted here be considered racist? This is one of the big problems. You scream racist at everything. When I was in Denver last month, the very act of holding up a Hillary sign got me called a “hater.” It’s disgusting and an ineffective method of persuasion. Just turns people off and makes them want to say FU.
FU.
they aren’t … they are the members of the New Obama party
once he is defeated, they will go away and we’ll have a party to rebuild
perhaps this time we’ll do it right
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kh_ipqk6dj4
New video Take a look its called “its too Late Obama”
excellent!! thank you for posting….
Excellent – have already shared it with friends.
Awesome vid thanks
Wonderful video.
Of course you drank the Kool-Aid. You are now openly supporting a candidate who would overturn Roe v. Wade, who would teach Creationism in public schools, who believes you can pray away homosexuality, who qualifies herself for the office of Vice President by calling herself a “Hockey Mom” then bristles when people ask questions about her mothering skills , who thinks the founding fathers put the words “under god” in the Pledge of Allegiance, who is corrupt, vindictive, and now, repeatedly lying about her record despite obvious evidence to the contrary.
Oh, and you suddenly don’t care that a candidate has no experience because she gave a good speech despite criticizing your own party’s candidate for the very same reason for the past six months.
So yeah, you drank something.
I hope you like the new Roberts’ Supreme Court, because you are going to be enjoying it for the rest of your life.
All bullshit and previously debunked ad nauseum. You are a liar, an obamabot, and a sexist asshat, by proxy. Either find some new talking points or shut your maw.
I would say that you are bitter, clinging to your religion and guns, but then I remembered you don’t have anything except your bitterness. Have fun.
OUCH, I’d like to steal that, if you don’t mind.
You herein define yourself succinctly as the purveyor of fear and division.
First off, as a VP candidate, Palin is very qualified, unlike your top of the ticket Obambi.
Second, NOW LISTEN UP, Roe vs Wade is SAFE.
Any judge to be appointed must be approved by the democratic majority house/senate. Naturally they won’t. Soooooooo, Roe vs Wade is SAFE…and always will be. !!!!!!
By the way, I’m a 33 yr. democrat voting republican this year for the first time in my life.
Hey, you will too!
If you can read, go here:
http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/sliming_palin.html
(And, you can visit the above page with confidence. It’s funded and run by the Annenberg Foundation… the same folks who funded the Annenberg Challenge … you know, the non-profit where Obama and Ayers sat together and spent, spent, spent … millions!)
You know, I’ve been surprised that factcheck.org has been so fair. They certainly don’t have to be with all their money and all the cover the MSM would provide for them.
I just wonder if somebody over there isn’t so happy that Barry and Billy took tens of millions of their dollars and spread them to radicals and malcontents who did nothing to improve education for Chicago schoolchildren.
I’ll remind you that EVERY candidate in the Democratic primary said Obama wasn’t qualified to be on that stage. That’s the true judgment of him from his own party.
In addition, Mike Gravel had the honesty to say that Palin has more and better experience that Obama/Biden/McCain put together. It was almost an endorsement LOL
go listen
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpBXYcgXV8M
Per former Democratic Senator Mike Gravel, she’s more qualified than ANYONE AND ALL 3 OTHERS PUT TOGETHER on the Presidential and VP ticket
A candidate with no experience?????
How do any of you Obamatrons have the nerve to bring that up?
Hello? Sarah Palin is the veep nominee. Obama is on the top of the ticket with far less experience or executive background.
But please! Keep it up. The more you spew, the more lies and raw sewage you deliver, the stronger the McCain/Palin ticket becomes and the stronger the support gets from all those bitter, blue-collar voters. You know, the people you really don’t need, the ones you could win without.
So, please. Keep it up. You’re making our day. And our argument.
Obamacrats are AFRAID of WOMEN and Babies. Talk about spineless.
Are you just deliberately passing around lies or just too stupid to go to fact check? None of the accusations you make represent Sarah Palin’s positions. Are you so silly as to think we haven’t already checked out where she is on the positions you enumerated? And go away with the banned books already. She didn’t ban them and she didn’t burn them. She is for sex ed and birth control and if I had to choose between live birth abortion such as your ghoulish candidate voted to uphold, and giving up Roe, I might just do that. Fortunately it’s not an either or. So go along now. Play these little games on your own because I’m certainly not interested in you telling me anything.
Fascinating post. Food for thought.
Hamster,
Great question… I sure as heck have no idea myself. I’m the most conservative of my group of friends but they’re almost all retired teachers so whatcha gonna do?
When I have said that they seem so much more intolerant than my conservative relatives, I catch hell from ‘em, so even if you are right, there is the question which was asked last night by another one of us, will they been personally accountable for their positions?
What I hear here is the honest self assessment of intelligent, mature people and your piece does that very damn well.
regards
I’m gay.. and I have less problems (in fact, no problems) being gay around conservatives than I do being conservative around gays. Other than perhaps Jihadis, I dont think anyone can exceed gay leftists in depths of hatred one can have. And I ‘ve found out that this experience is almost universal for gay conservatives.
However, I have encountered a lot of “normal” people who made the Left to Right switch in life, and they report all the same types of stories about conflict and resentment.
And then it dawned on me.. its not being gay , or being a woman etc that drives that hate.. It’s being a Leftist. Something inside the mind of a Lefty seems to activate some perpetual hate gland.
Thanks for your observations, brother… I gotta agree that there is alot more intolerance for “other than them’s” on that side. It was, as I recall, a symptom of ultra leftists when I was young too. If you didn’t think that any soldier in uniform was fair game in those days, you weren’t truly part of the movement. How odd that the three main male influences of Barack Obama in the past thirty years were all part of that movement.
“Uncle Frank” Marshall, communist and admitted child molester
Rev. Wright, marxist theologian, (toss in Pfleger for comedy relief )
Bill Ayers, Marxist/Communist terrorist bomber
There’s a set of loving, tolerant sonsofbitches if ever there were any…
Tell your teacher friends to check out Obama’s web site and his policy on community service. Down in the latter part he states that every school under his plan would be required to develop and implement a community service program in order to receive any federal funds, including funds to meet the needs of special education children. How do you think teachers, administrators, parents and students are going to like a mandate to serve the community, or else—and who will have to pay for the development and implementation of that program.
As a teacher I find ALL of Obama’s policy proposals to be completely repugnant and idiotic. He wants to give teachers merit pay. Hello, anybody home Mr. Obama but how in the hell do you gauge a teacher’s effectiveness? Oh, that is right you test the students. Now, nobody really wants to teach minority or socioeconomically disadvantaged children because they test out low and some have behavioral problems. In essence, this means that the best teachers will NOT teach the students who absolutely need the best teachers. NCLB on steroids so to speak. The absolute worst remedy possible. If you want to fix the schools, hire more teachers then institute team teaching strategies in all classrooms that have at risk students and give all children access to the very best teachers, not just the kids who are gifted.
Do you guys teach in urban areas of the top left corner of the Continental 48?
I was at a Black History Month Celebration at one of my kids’ schools about ten years ago when they told all the little kids what wonderful, important people Huey Newton, Angela Davis and the Black Panthers were in establishing Black’s rights in the sixties and seventies. Black Muslims were noted but I don’t recall Farrahkhan’s name being mentioned. Of course by then I was in a slight state of stunned shock when nobody spoke about Medger Evers, Selma or a couple other minor events like the Mississippi lunch counter sit ins or the steps of the University of Alabama.
Somebody had an agenda then and it wasn’t promoting truth or history. Those kids would now be the age of the Bot’s we see at work now.
My strongest recollection of the Panthers was the judge with a shotgun taped to his neck. Panthers were not cool… they were hate filled Marxist killers then, no denying it…
I say we give “merit pay” to politicians. Let’s see….Obama must prove he has ACCOMPLISHED something before he gets to be prez.
Gee, he has a lot of nerve demanding RESULTS form teachers, but not himself. How about if the teachers gave pretty speeches in the classroom, and the students all felt hopey and inspired? That’s good, right?
I’ve been watching my new BFF Sean Hannity ( !!!) tonight and it was great to hear him lambaste Barky for attacking the VP Sarah Palin and making crude comments re: lipstick…. and animals.
I wrote:
I’m watching your show tonight and totally agree with you regarding Obama meaning to slam when he dropped the “lipstick on a pig” comment.
I remember VERY clearly not long ago, when Obama was running against Hillary and he played a rap song ( forget the ‘artist” ) “I’ve got 99 problems and bitch ain’t one of them “ and stroked his face with his middle finger and made to “brush dirt off his shoulders” much to the hooting pleasure of his audience.
Anyone who didn’t know that was a dog whistle to Obama’s faithful is stupid!
So yes, Obama knows exactly what he’s doing / saying and it’s going to bring him down!
Obama is looking like a petulant child
inexperienced and bratty
hardly Presidential
not even Vice Presidential!
The DNC need a GOOD SPANKING in NOVEMBER!
Yea! Let’s give it to them!
WIN WITHOUT ME SUCKERS!!!
McCain/Palin ‘08
Hillary ‘12
Not even senatorial now!
Really, never has been in my opinion. Here is a man who hasn’t done his job in damned near 2 years. He is also a man with 140 or so “present” votes. He is the epitomy of the slacker we all work with who just shows up, goes through the motions and collects his paycheck. Really, the only thing this man has ever done is donate sperm to Michelle and father 2 beautiful kids. Otherwise, his whole life is a complete waste. The really disappointing thing is that the man is very, very capable. He could really be an asset to his community, his state and even the country but until he gets his head screwed on straight he isn’t helping anybody.
This will be cathartic for both parties! Mcain palin will clean house in washington and Mcain will put together a truly bi-partisan cabinet and the ‘good ‘ol boys will be out! H.& w, clinton will do the same in the democratic party cleaning out the move on crowd and the ACORN crew! We are taking back our government!!! Horaay!
The bigger they are the harder they fall.
Obama says we should inflate our tires. We will deflate his huge gasbag ego.
If his hyperinflated ego were any bigger, it would be called a dirigible.
Or the absolutely most “George and the Giant Peach” hemorrhoid is human history!
ROFL
Did I just hear this ignorant beast of a presidential candidate say “you can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig”?
OMG. This is the least presidential, or political, or reasonable, however the most cliched candidate we’ve ever had that live by rhetoric alone.
He’s absolutely disgusting and bottom-line ignorant of the ways of the world.
I wish him his own karma.
Nothing like perspective ..is there??

Pretty scary when you put it in a “feet firmly on the ground” perspective. I appreciate the comparisons.
Honestly, his hubris is beyond any I’ve ever known or seen.
Holy shit…it will take me almost a year and a half just to get my pilot’s license…and even that doesn’t seem nearly long enough. But this scares the crap out of me.
less than 6 months… how sad
It’s as if we’ve turned over a rock and underneath are alot of slimy, dirty slugs that we hadn’t seen before. And now that we see the Democratic party for what it is, women who despise other women, men who despise women, corrupt ego-driven elitists, cowards willing to sell out their party to worship at the altar of victimhood symbolized by the real pig on a stick, smirking condescendingly at all who see him, the Daley machine’s Lord of the Flies.
The Dems could have given us a leader, competent, intelligent, authentic but they didn’t. They sold us out for a leftist ideology that they were just dying to put into power.
McCain/Palin 08
“They sold us out for a leftist ideology that they were just dying to put into power.”
When are you guys going to get it through your heads that OBAMA IS NO LEFTY. Hell’s bells, some of his Senate votes have revealed him to be to the right not only of Hillary Clinton but of John effin’ McCain as well.
Just a couple of days ago, he decided maybe he wouldn’t roll back Dubya’s big tax cuts for the superrich after all–which is no great surprise, considering that his economic advisors are all Chicago School, Milton Friedmanesqe “trickle downers.”
Jeez Louise, you’d have to be somewhere to the right of Genghis Khan to consider Obama a lefty.
Tell me about it. I’m a lefty. Obama is no lefty.
Ditto.
Look at the corporations who are funding Obama. They do not fund leftists.
0bama is on the patriarchal left. He’s a patriarchal leftist and for that reason he can be a women-hater and this won’t be a problem for him or for the others patriachal_leftists_women_haters.
Your comment is so true. I keep asking myself were they that way all along and I just didn’t notice (and how in hell could I have missed that), or did they suddenly just turn into a crazy bunch of frat boys. Either way, I’m out of this party; but it is a puzzlement.
THat’s just one reason. There is also the threat of riots, the false charges of racism, Ayers, Rezko, Wright, Michelle, etc.
Cafferty has my vote for the Tweety award.
He has chronic asshole obsession.
I like Dowd, even though I don’t usually agree with her because she if funny, and pretty much goes after everybody eventually.
The Kos people just hate her because she made nasty comments after their first moronic “Kos Convention.”
She says what she thinks, and doesn’t get to me like a disease infested whore like Cafferty.
Jack Cafferty is not one of my favorite people either but right now I feel sorry for him. His wife of 35 years died recently.
McCain/Palin ‘08
Hillary ‘12
She and Cafferty are equal opportunity haters.
sexist mysogenist bolsheviks! The obommunists!
Obama just committed political suicide with that comment. For the next 57 days, starting tomorrow, the Republicans are going to call for an apology and they are going to keep at it all day all night till the debates. If he doesn’t apologize now, they will force the question in the debate… and America will all know about it…… then O would do his huh huh huh….what a twig…..? the guys is a total egit… What kind of a politician called his opponent names,…… politics 101, you leave the dirty work to your surrogates. And he’s supposed to be running against McCain not Palin…………. unbelievable. I bet if this guys was tortured in Vietnam like McCain he would have sold America to the Commas…. What a heartless prick….. I can’t wait for the Republicans to flush him down the tubes…..
I think this is the defining moment in his impending defeat. He knows it too… watch the tape… he pauses just briefly… starts to speak… stops… he knows he should not do it… he was likely warned… but, he just can’t help himself. I almost feel sorry for the man…almost.
Huckabee on Fox was asked about the comment and said he did not think it was aimed at Palin.
If Obama was stupid enough to use the “Lipstick” cliche after Palin told the Hockey mom/pitbull joke than Obama is TOO STUPID to be president. Talk about a gaffe.
Obama is a Harvard-educated lawyer. He knows the meaning (single, double and/or triple) of his words. Typically, he frames his insults with double-meanings so he can say he was misinterpreted. This tactic is a variation of saying something that will sustain an objection, but that will have nonetheless have been said and affect a jury (audience).
NewHampster–its an interesting idea. The Republicans, whether they wanted to or not, had to nominate a moderate like McCain because no one, not even them, wants anything to do with Bush/Cheney.
Die-hard neocons like Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter see the danger of their party moving to the center without them. They really fear what a successful moderate Republican means in the long run.
Some of the social issues that Republicans have used to great effect in the past are simply becoming laughably passe. RoeVWade is not in danger of being overturned no matter who is in charge. Gay marriage is not the issue it was 10 years ago…10 years from now I don’t think it will be an issue at all. Stem cell research will be back on track as soon as the wheels start turning on Bush’s U-haul.
I don’t know if a real flip is in the works but the party’s have definitely changed.
If the republicans have backed into change, I would say the democrats have run flailing into it like someone falling downstairs because they ran through a spider web.
Only time will tell how much of this is momentary and how much will stick.
I think most Americans are Centrists/Moderates.
When the rightwingers forced Bush down our throats we had the same divisive reactions. Now with left wingers pushing Obama down our throats we get the same reaction.
A country run by either extremist groups tips and flips and divides people. We need McCain/Palin (or Hillary) to put America back on even keel.
Country First!
“Another way to look at it is how the South, the home of the KKK and last bastion of segregation, is now so much more liberated than many of our know it all Northern states and cities.”
It’s amusing ain’t it?
I’m a Virginian, and in 1988, Virginia elected the first black governor since Reconstruction, L. Douglas Wilder, and I voted for him.
And these latte liberal/academic/media assholes call us racists.
Fuck those hypocritical sons of bitches!
Thanks for bringing up the real elephant in the room:)
And allowing me to ride my favorite hobby horse.
My pleasure. I live north of the massholes so knowing them comes naturally.
I feel your pain…
I agree with you New Hampster,
If I as a lifetime dem found that I agree more with the republicans now then the dems there has to be something going on like you describe.
I didn’t change, I am still me, but the names you mention, those same people bashed Hillary, they are a part of a democratic party that I no longer recognize or want to be a part of…
Thanks for the great post.
Excellent comment. Seems to me the R’s are embracing change and the D’s are pretending to embrace it.
About lipstick…
Obama has brought up the pit bull and lipstick thing everyday since Palin said it…while on the stump…when he said pig is still a pig he was referring to Palin.
Watch videos of him since she said it…you will see what I mean…I have no doubt he meant her.
Oh hell, I just started typing in a long dissertation about my beliefs, what’s important to me now in this world that we’re living in. And I just realized, that the choices we’re given…I’m truly now a Republican.
Pro-choice/life is important to me, but it’s way down on my priority list in this world.
Pro-universal health-care is important to me, but it’s also further down on the priority list.
I have no doubt he was referring to Palin. That’s what separates him from dignified people. He’s disgusting, dignified people are not. Instead of talking about what his stances are (given those stances are different every day) he’s calling the opposing VP candidate a pig….and a fish wrapped in paper? He has now shown himself to be the leader of the troll bots. Have no doubt where the bots get their direction from this point forward.
He’s simply disgusting. If he continues this demeanor, he will become to the masses what WE already know about him. He is THE representative of the ugliness we’ve seen on the boards.
All the hate I have seen in the last few months, well it just makes my mind spin…so much hate and violence in comments and in post at places like KOS.
When a person stands back and looks at what is happening…you are either with them or against them…there is no in between….
I choose not to hate…
He’s been reading and believing his own press…the ugly ones. I feel the same way. He just can’t help himself. He’s got the will to fail.
The Democratic Party, by progressively(pun intended)hardening into a totalitarian core of hard-line cultural far lefties, has abandoned the values of the vast majority of Americans. The party has demanded knee-jerk adherence to the party line and refused any deviance. This year, it has finally decided on a purge, and those who refuse to follow the orders from on high have been told to get lost. We are to be replaced by young programmed cultists who will do the messiah’s bidding. And where did the purgers think we would go? Home, I guess, to sulk and sit out the election. And now–shock, shock–we’ve heard the clarion call from McCain and Palin and are joining the legions of Americans who believe in traditional values. Sure, we may not agree with the Republicans’ fiscal positions, but at least we’ve been welcomed by the GOP and can hopefully work within it to moderate over-the-top capitalist ideas. In a way, both major parties have succumbed to their own chickens coming home to roost. The Repubs used cultural conservatives for decades to get elected, and now they have a fundamentalist Christian, corruption-crushing veep who may someday be Prez. When the election is over and BO has lost in a landslide, where will the Dems be?
hootnannie,
you pegged it.
You cite fiscal concerns, I have different ones. Regardless, you’ve nailed it. I’ve NEVER agreed 100% with any candidate I’ve voted for. For now, I’m much more closely aligned with the Republicans than the democrats than ever before. Obama may have turned me into a life-long Republican.
So Hitler Youth Movement. Frightening. And the way they bullied poor Stephanie Tubbs Jones and plot to depose others who don’t fall in line. Dangerous and disgusting.
Years ago I was taught Republicans rationalize unethical conduct with the phrase “the end justifies the means.”
The more I understand this NEW Democratic Party, “I have seen the enemy, and it is us!”
FASCIST IS AS FASCIST DOES…..
I’ve been pissed off at the DNC since their Weenie performance or lack there of with regards to the HIJACK 2000. Now I have watched the steady encroachment of Leftish elites and the corresponding ineptitude of Party leaders who have stooped to fraud and brownshirt tactics to prevent at all costs the legitimate heirs of FDR ( the cenrists, clinton, WJC and HRC ) from doing what they do best….Move the party back to it’s roots…..
I mean REFORM takes COURAGE and DILIGENCE…..( sigh )
imho…..I am gladly voting GOP for the first time since I started voting 1978. and I will continue to vote against these extremists…..until they are gone….
A vote for McCain/Palin 08 is a vote for Clinton/2012….
Country first…..nuff said…..
NewHampster, I think you have uncovered an interesting mystery. Something to think about and reflect. I think the creation of PUMA is a reaction that precisely accommodates those theories.
Obviously you’re not the first one thinking this and it’s been going on in my household and and family too.
My Mom and I talked for about 2 hours yesterday mainly about this. And she said, “isn’t it funny, after all that work you’ve done for the Democrats and….”
But, talking about the “forward thinking party”. Did you watch the Debate NQ put up? Governor Palin’s response on the question if you could no longer live in the town you currently live, where would you live in Alaska. She replied a small town in the same valley and gave a reason why. They questioned her about choosing the same valley and she replied “laugh if you want, but you asked and the valley is where I would want to live” . Besides wanting to retor SNAP, she also gave one of the reasons for wanting to live in that town she stated as being one of the most “progressive” areas. And this was when she was Debating for Governor, not pandering like Barry for the Presidential election we are now in.
Nice seeing/hearing you NH!
I’m not a bit surprised by that….Palin like McCain know that the founder of the modern Progressive Movement in America was …..a Republican….Teddy Roosevelt….
Great post, NewHampster. Nice to see you over here at NQ. I’m holding down the seacoast. Nice to have your company.
I have the Upper Valley (Newport/Sunapee)
I am believing we have all been conned..all the way around..people in both parties..i have said for some time..the damage was complete in 2000..there is really only one party with one big money pot in the middle..we are only kidding ourselves to anything else..they just use different ammo on us..and both dems and repubs have been conned..we think there is going to be the big story that stops it..but it never comes..we write about the crap and it goes no where..it is like the dog chasing its tail..
We have no media..that is how all evil empires worked..they suck the people in from two sides..and only when they are complete their plans do the people realize they have been conned all around.
We think the big tapes are coming..they are not..remember in 2004 ..many of us believed there was some big strategy that John Kerry was going to pull off and expose bush and the swift boaters..they never materialized..same thing after the election, we thought the election theft would be exposed, it was not..it is all a fraud being pulled on the American people..because we think something will stop them..it won’t.
That something is us..there are 350 million of us? and what do we do ..wait for someone to stop this shit????????
why don’t we stop them??
Because we keep thinking something will save us from them..
IT IS ALL A CON JOB.
Look in the past couple days..women made a big move to one side..why haven’t all of us???..We have all seen the same shit!!..We see the same shit day in, and day out and no one can tell me people are unaware something is drastically wrong in this country..something is wrong when one candidate is shoved down our collective throats.
Something is wrong that we just sit and take this shit time and time again..and we think that that big story will stop them..
We must stop them..I keep seeing ..welllll 18 million Hillary voters. this or that…well there are approx 350 million americans..women have a majority..so what are we doing to get these other women and tell them… stop with the obama propaganda..stop with the bullshit..stop..just stop..we are not going to let these other women and men to take this country down the tubes with someone the new world order wants shoved down our throats.
That big story is us..
that big thing that will stop them is us..all of us.
Shut the damn TV down..shut them up..talk to your neighbor..tell them it is important they listen..and make them hear you..we don’t have much time..
We can do this..look at the big move by women in one week..we are powerful..lets use that power..now!
Amen!
Great post, NH, and it’s something I’ve been thinking a lot about, too, as a 40-year Dem. But I don’t think we were drinking the Kool-Aid—we had a true Dem in Bill Clinton, FDR, Carter was an ineffective leader but had his head in the right place—for one thing putting solar panels on the White House, etc., somewhat of a future thinker.
I think the Republican party was taken over by the fascist, Machiavellian Neo-Cons during the Bush Administration. Many Repubs. have been mad (especially with Bush’s low approval rating) about that take-over and went to work to bring their party back on track and we are seeing the results of that introspection, re-evaluation, and re-prioritization with McCain/Palin. They were smart enough to recognize this wrong turn—I respect them for that. They had to re-boot their Party after these past 8 years of political disaster.
Just like the Repubs. being taken over by the Neo-Cons, our Dem. Party has been taken over by the Neo-Libs, Oblahmabots, and the young, rah-rah, politically naive. So, now we will have a deciding moment to re-work, re-prioritize if McCain wins. We need to get our party back to its true Democratic roots, or perhaps get it moving, evolving closer to a centrist platform that appeals to the majority of Americans. However, I could see the possibility of a viable third political party emerging, maybe led by the Clintons. They cannot take any steps in that direction until after the election.
But the way the Repubs. have reformulated, redone, updated themselves, gives me hope that the Dems. can do this, too.
Wow. Great post. That’s just what it has felt like for me. Like maybe I had drank the partisan koolaid too long. It seems like I can finally see things from the other side. Not jumping over there but I think I’m finally starting to appreciate their point of view.
Nice shout out to Vonnegut – he’s my favorite.
PS Wouldn’t it have been nice if enough republicans would have stopped drinking THEIR kool-aid to stop W.?
Just a thought…
Here’s another thought: Wouldn’t it have been nice if ALL of them – republicans AND DEMOCRATS – would have stopped being greedy and corrupt and dishonest and power-hungry enough to stop W?
Blaming just republicans or just democrats for any of the mess is ridiculous.
The big problem was that we all gave the dems credit, for so long, for at least TRYING to do the right thing – albeit failing – due to lack of numbers, or at worst, lack of spine. WE WERE WRONG.
The thing is, the dems never had any interest in stopping W – just in creating the impression of it. Dems are every bit as corrupt as the republicans ever were.
Yes, this election season has been very illuminating…
I just saw CNN…They are attacking Palin again.
…can’t wait till Hillary become president. She’s going to clean House. Hillary ‘08
Can you believe Campbell Brown’s new show lingo, “No bias, No Bull’? Must be the CNN ratings are dipping like MSNBC so they figure they better watch out in trying to give the appearance of being fair. They are not fooling us- CNN is as biased towards Obama as they come. After the way they trashed Hillary which only fed the Obama thugs all primary season, now they want us to think they are fair. They are corrupt.
Can you believe Campbell Brown’s new show lingo, “No bias, No Bull’?
Oh my god, what an excellent post.
I swear, there are no flies on those who post here at the NQ!
Just excellent! Thank you so much.
Probably not.
Apparently Karl Rove–Bush’s Architect—aka The Prince of Darkness–has been actively involved in the McCain campaign.
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/presidentbush/2008/09/karl-roves-hand.html
Does this mean that everything he says on FOX is calculated commentary and deliberate misdirection?
Probably so. He’s not just a commentator. He’s both strategist and propagandist.
I can give you a name from the Right: Limbaugh. He can’t help himself. Describing the women Obama wanted to send out to attack Palin–Hillary, Sebelius, Napolitano et. al., he called them the “nags.” “National Association of Girls.” Ha Ha. He also talked about Palin’s “attractive ankles,” a clear reference to his ugly remark about Hillary’s ankles earlier. Unfortunately, there’s plenty of sexism to go around. The Republicans recognize a marketing opportunity when they see one. Not that Palin isn’t talented and experienced, but unlike tone deaf Obama and the DNC, they saw an opportunity to reach out to women voters with respect, and they seized it. It doesn’t mean they are suddenly enlightened. Vigilance is required all around.
If the point is not to vote for Rush Limbaugh as President… I am certainly in agreement. I don’t feel he would be qualified. Palin is the change we have been waiting for. She is the synbol, the model of what we need to fix this nation. We need real honest middle America values. You will not find these values at Harvard… sorry not to slight anyone. We need not “low-educated” people… but “low-indoctrinated” people to follow in Palin’s footsteps. Of all the things McCain could have done for us as POTUS… he has given us the best gift of all… Our country back. Ironic isn’t it?
Thought provoking post NewHampster…. I like to think the truth is sometimes somewhere in the middle… But clearly the DNC has reaklly, and I mean really screw up big time; even if BO wins; that’s besides the point: they have betrayed and destroyed what they have theoretically stood for decades… It’s really sad.
PS: glad to see Jeralyn’s name added to the list above; I’ve been appalled by her posts since the Dem. Convention: something happened to her in Denver…
Jeralyn got promised a spot writing for Salon, is what happened. I have it on good authority – wait and see.
Excellent post. So many of us are living in some kind of upside down world now.
And QUEENIE is right about it coming from all sides. I’ve often wondered what’s wrong with us–we should have been marching in the streets when the Supreme Court gave the election to Bush. The Ukrainians protested their fraudulent vote. And then Gore didn’t let one congresswoman from the Black Caucus protest the vote! And John Kerry, who had set aside money for any after-the-vote legal work conceded in one day when Ohio was a mess!
I’ve often wondered about Skull and Bones–Bush, Kerry, OBama’s advisor–Austan Goolsbee. And who knows how many more. AND BIG MONEY! There’s too much money corrupting everything.
I like Sarah Palin. I like seeing her and her husband out on the stump with McCranky. There’s no evidence that she brings her anti-choice beliefs into her politics. This ’60s Berkeley grad is voting Republican for the first time in my life.
Maybe McCain’s reform with help rid Washington of the money.
I’m still worried that Axelrod will game the system somehow.
Limbaugh is a sexist POS. He was also chief cheerleader when Karl Rove and GW Bush did everything they could to personally destroy McCain in 2000. Perhaps the worst lie they spread was that McCain was crazy angry. Remember the “questions of whether he had presidential temperament” etc? And Rove cozied up to scumbag Ted Sampley who spreads crap that McCain was in a luxury hotel being a traitor instead of the Hanoi Hilton.
Rove cozied up with Sampley again in the election of 2004 against Kerry, and McCain came out against it….which pissed off lots of GOP folks.
I wonder if the Obama campaign’s tactics of saying disgusting things about Palin (and today saying that McCain has no honor) are just trying to set him up to have an angry outburst….thus defeating McCain with Rove’s smear from 8 years ago.
Sexism, race-baiting, voter fraud, big media, anti-public finance, bullying,fear-mongering, McCarthyism?
Sounds like the Repu–I mean NEW DNC starring Obama, Pelosi, Dean and a host of Obamican thugs. Tag line=”Fall in line,OR ELSE.”
At this point I barely recognize the Democratic Party!
As a result, I truly appreciate this article. It validates my observations and adds to the relief I’ve felt since deciding I can help elect worthy down-ballot Dems without selling my soul to Obamacan dictators.
CNN is so biased, I am surprised if they aren’t the next to reexamine their choice in “analysts”. I used to admire David Gergen, but he just doesn’t make sense any more, and his pro Obama bias has totally ruined his credibility. And Roland Martin is a joke, along with Donna Brazile, and Campbell Brown, who let’s just say is my definition of out of control.
The night Fox first aired the Wright tapes I turned over to CNN after H&C just in time to see them air a few of the tapes and then hear Anderson Cooper APOLOGIZE for having to show them, calling them “less than newsworthy”. Fast forward to now that Sarah Palin is in the race, and they have already done a special on her religion?
I personally think that TUCC, the fact that Obama has called Reverend Wright his “mentor”, and the money he has channeled to his favorite churches in Chicago a hell of a lot more “newsworthy” than a church that Sarah Palin attended and left more than 6 years ago, but hey, CNN and I don’t seem to have the same agenda.
NewHampster; Add to the fact that history will repeat itself. When will we learn?
Great to see you posting,
unknowingly embrace the teachings of the other side and swap places
I have been reminded of the front porch that you described in a piece during the Pennsylvania primaries.
The chairs on the porch are the same ones you or I or millions of other Americans would invite the neighbors over for a refreshment and shoot the breeze.
The chairs have been re-arranged by an un-invited guest.
The Dem’s make me feel so “Un-Invited”.

As our Clinton-Obama ‘08 ticket is riding a 15-point advantage over poor old McCain, I thought I’d share this crazy dream I had last night.
I dreamt Obama stole the nomination by stacking the caucuses, and then DID NOT offer the VP to Hillary, but to some old guy. Ridiculous, I know! Then, in my dream, McCain countered by bringing out some fascistic Wonder-Woman Barbie-doll Terminatress as his VP, some Allessandra Mussolini type who gave such rivetting demagoguery speeches that the whole country swung behind McCain, and the Democrats got, like, totally trounced!
I know, what a ridiculous dream, you could never sell it as fiction! Anyway, we don’t need to worry, the Rethuglicans don’t have any dolly bird like that, I checked all 48 states.
That would make a hilarious movie. Too improbable though and nobody would believe it.
Only 10 more to go…
The statements uttered out of O mouth is a spew of the crap the Kos are spilling looks as if O must be a visitor to that sight since he attended the craps convention, His campaign is a worm that feeds the crows, and he showed yesterday hes worried, and his true characteristic bobbed its ugly head, definietly NObama McCain Palin 2008. the more lies they spread the more that angers woman and supporters, keep up the slimy work O, and the Dnc are going down. Puma I own my vote. Country before Party , Unity in defeating O.
There are so many conservative women out there who resent the left’s attempt to monopolize women’s issues and feminism. We’ve kind of kept quiet about it… until now.
With Palin on the ticket we have living, breathing proof that Republicans are at least as much for women’s empowerment as Democrats. And the unbelievably sexist response Palin has gotten from the left-leaners has been revealing, to say the least, about who actually believes what.

Just stopped by to enjoy watching lefties, liberals and ‘progressives’ throw rocks at each other.
My question is, what is it that makes the Democrat Party so enamored of players, scammers and con artists? The Clintons don’t believe in anything but themselves. Gore doesn’t even have that much certainty. Life is rigged in favor of the rich, the beautiful and the shameless, and thanks to his wives’ trust funds, John Kerry is two out of three.
And now there is The One. Except that nobody is sure about which hospital he was born in or why he was signed into a Catholic School as a Muslim. There are no college transcripts, no law review articles, and apparently no records from his days as a state legislator. Nobody seems to know exactly who got helped when he was an ‘organizer,’ and the Annenberg Foundation is still trying to figure out what The One and Ayers did with $110 million in grants and donations. His principal accomplishments as US Senator? He added some words about reducing conventional weapons to an existing body of legislation — now THAT’s controversial! — and he managed to steer so much earmarked money to his wife’s employers that they were forced to triple her salary. And on, and on, and on.
Buyer’s remorse? Just wait until the first Wednesday in November.
I’ve known plenty of Left-leaning people in my life. Yes, some of them are reprehensible punks who just hate everything Republican either because they can’t think any harder than that or because it’s their way of sowing their oats.
Let’s put them aside as an anomaly which no doubt exists in its own form on the Right.
Most ‘lefties’, though, are well-meaning, thoughtful, deeply concerned people who want a better America for all. They want people to be treated with respect and dignity regardless of things like gender and sexual orientation. They want the bounty of this country to secure a certain standard of living for all. They want us to lead the world in peace, not as a tyrant who pushes our will down other countries’ throats.
Here’s the thing, though: who doesn’t want that?
No Republican I know is for war without end, for tormenting those different than us, or for punishing the poor. Our goals, I think, are the same. We just differ on the ways to get there, or on the plausibility of attaining them in a certain way.
Take, for example, health care. No republican I know (certainly not me) is against the idea of getting medical care into the hands of everyone. We read the stories of people dying for lack of care and ache for them the same as any progressive person. Most of us, I can safely say, just don’t believe the government is able to do it. We believe that handing them them power to make decisions like this would result in worse care for just about everyone at the cost of basic care for a relative few. We think, without doubt, that the government would quickly begin to ration out healthcare to the detriment of all. Best, then, to think of another way. Note that sentence: think of another way, not abandon the idea altogether. Somehow it’s become Socialized Medicine versus Evil, not Socialized Healthcare versus another idea to be considered.
I completely agree with the author: I think that a bunch of caring, concerned people have been sold a bill of goods by a small handful of opportunists and hucksters. They have been told that the only way to a better tomorrow is to listen to them without fail. They’ve been told that the Other Side is Bad. They’ve been given an innoculation against legitimate discourse with any but their own kind. When this ruling class’ tenets are called into question, they resort to ad hominem attacks and playing the X-card. They want power, and they promise endless Happy Tomorrows if only you’ll give it to them.
Does this happen on the right? Sometimes. But consider as the author does: abortion rights, gay rights, etc., while not universally supported, nevertheless have a home in the Republican party. Rudy Giuliani can run on his merits as a leader rather than his feelings on abortion, a matter he’d be unable to change anyway. Could a pro-life Democrat do that? Could a Democrat who questioned the possibility that a gay person has made a choice in their lifestyle ever hope to see the national stage? As one author put it: Republicans are Republicans anywhere you go. Democrats at the national level are an animal unto themselves, very different from most state and local Democrats.
I am a conservative just to up front.
Have you guys thought about posting those video’s regarding Caucus fraud to Republican web sites? They will get greater circulation by doing so and be used by Republicans to go after Obama supporters. This will put wavering Obama Democrats in the position of having to come up with a counter argument. They will then at least watch them!
As it stands now, it can just be dismissed as old news.
What would be great for our country is if both parties could somehow shed their extremists and work together for the good of our nation. The parties won’t and don’t have to agree on everything, but minus the wackos could do what Americans have always done best: Find a way to make it happen. Imagine what we could accomplish if we could only get close enough to bridge the gap between us. As the gap is made larger by the screaming loons on the far right and far left, the chances for real change diminish dramatically. The issue with Obama is that ideologically, he is too far left at this time to be a part of the solution. He is a smart guy who I think in his heart means well, but having been raised in the Chicago Democratic Machine way of thinking, he is too far left to be the one we really need. McCain is imperfect for many reasons, but is much closer to the core ideological position of the nation and seems more willing to move toward the middle than does Obama.
“Another way to look at it is how the South, the home of the KKK and last bastion of segregation, is now so much more liberated than many of our know it all Northern states and cities.”
You have no idea how right you are. While the klan started in Pulaski, TN after the Civil War, its powerbase is now (and has been for years) in the North/Midwest. As far as anti-semitism goes, I’ve never heard it expressed by a born-and-bred Southerner, only from transplanted Northerners. As a matter of fact, Southern Jews have a rich and proud history in the South. Google Judah P. Benjamin sometime.

I’m afraid that you have been drinking the kool-aid, but it’s conservative movement kool-aid. I have been reading the Hillary-friendly sites since day one, and once considered myself a PUMA, but things have just gone too far. I can’t read this or the Confluence, etc, anymore because it’s all just an immature attempt to belittle and get revenge on Obama. I hated the fact that he became the nominee as much as anyone, but just because Obama isn’t a great candidate, that does not alter the fundamental differences on policy between the Democratic and Republican parties.
The ‘kool-aid’ that some of my former fellow PUMA’s drank is the same flavor as the kool-aid that smeared Al Gore in 2000. He may have run a somewhat wanting campaign, but look how the choice of Bush vs. Gore looks in hindsight. Wake up, Hillary supporters!! How could you support Hillary Clinton and then, out of pure spite, support a ticket that stands for something completely opposite?
It worries me greatly, but I fear now that the events of the primary will cause this concern to be ignored by many reading this because they will assume that I am an Obot operative. Please calm down and step back and think…
I have–Oblahblah is unfit and unqualified to be POTUS. That is the entire issue for me. I will vote Republican for the first time since 1976. That is how angry I am at the former Democratic party. Oblockhead and his minions stole the nomination from HRC so, in the same manner, they can try to steal the GE without us. Hopefully my vote and those of other Clinton supporters will enable McCain to win, in spite of the Obamacrats’ skulduggery.
First things first…I’m the whole right wing deal, a conservative, southern, white, good-ol-boy.
Last spring I thought I’d enjoy seeing Senator Clinton getting the “republican treatment” from the media/left.
I didn’t. There has been a vicious undertone to this whole thing that’s really bothered me. While I certainly don’t support her, she has my respect for many reasons.
I see glimmers of hope that conservatives may take the Republican Party back from our usurpers. Will real Democrats get the same chance with their party? I hope so…for the good of our nation.
The republican party isn’t as caught up in social issues as democrats seem to think. The basis of our party is individual responsibility, free markets, liberty from government control, and preserving the constitution. Most republicans do not want to “ban” anything, but would rather have the states decide things like abortion, education, etc… We want to decide how our children are educated, what to eat, who to hire in our companies, how to protect ourselves, and how to worship. Just as the author noticed in the article, the democrats only promote and support those who believe just as they do. I have been shocked to hear statements like women who do not support abortion aren’t really women. That isn’t liberty, that is facsism. Its very sad to see what was once a great party fall to this shameful level. I hope that the sane members of the party will take their party back. America needs diversity of thought, not just diversity of cultures.
