I guess you didn't know that one of those kids is now CFO of the family beer distributorship. All 3 of them were in Minneapolis for the RNC convention, and they all vacation together and enjoy spending time together.

McCain has never earned a dime in the private sector during his entire seventy-two years on this planet, you might ask yourself what are these "opportunities" he's been so "blessed by" that now allow him to own more houses than he can remember. Well, it turns out it was really only one opportunity but McCain jumped on it when it presented itself. It was when a forty-three-year-old John McCain met a twenty-four-year-old heiress named Cindy Lou Hensley at a party in Hawaii in 1979 and promptly began having an affair with her. After about a year of cheating on his wife of fifteen years -- the wife who had kept vigil during his entire POW experience -- John and Cindy decided to make it legal and tie the knot so he could move to Cindy's home state of Arizona and run for Congress. He divorced his wife Carol in April 1980 and married Cindy -- and her money -- a month later. As you would expect, the wedding was a grand society affair befitting the marriage of a twenty-something debutante to a middle-aged man. The only blemish to the entire event was the conspicuous absence of the three children who McCain had walked out on and who didn't speak to him for several years afterwards. But, hey, can there be a bigger downer at your wedding than having your abandoned kids throwing rocks at you while everyone else is throwing rice?

I don't think Barack can get US out of the pickle we're in without divine intervention; it's a pretty deep hole.
BUT the Republicans have had the ball for quite sometime. How they got it is questionable (Supreme Court Decision).
Eight years ago the country was in the Black and was not hemorrhaging billions a week because of a trumped up war. Joe American was pretty happy. He could afford to gas up his 4x4, at less than $2.00 per gallon, and head to the lake for LABOR DAY weekend.
The Right was happy Bill passed NAFTA. But it was too good, so they grabbed Billy Boy by the jewels and wouldn't let him go (a moral issue). Don't we all live in glass houses?
Now it's a lifetime later, and here we go again.
Mc Same is talking about CHANGE (that's Barack platform) but his current voting record shows he's voted 95% with Bush. Maybe he just voted that way to get the nomination (who knows why people do what they do). He thinks US can muscle a stay in IRAQ. I guess he didn't learn that one in Vietnam (Documented Iraq civilian deaths 87,800 - 94,700+, that could be up to 1/2 million),
And as for Afghanistan, they are tuff and they have nothing to lose. Ask the Russians or any other nation who have tried them. I can't believe we're making any brownie points by bombing their women and kids. We had our chance and blew it. And there a lot of money to be made selling hard drugs which, up until a few years ago, had been all but eradicated, thanks to the tali ban.
So I'm voting for a change (not McSame). The way we've been going, we're making enemies, at a faster pace. We take the moral high grown, but can't hold on to it. We need someone with morals. Is that asking too much? I think Barack is wrong about Afghanistan; and Pakistan is a hornet's nest. But CHANGE and hope Biden doesn't get to involve.
As for Palin, Me Smells a RAT. If anyone is going to drop out, she may not make the cut. In comes Lieberman, what a supprise.
 WAKE UP!!!!!

I just got back to this thread.

Well, I'm shocked.

But I thought the leftwing hated Buchanan. I wonder what they feel about his endorsement?

Yes of course all the rumors about Obama are true but the ones about Palin are false and debunked. Bunch of right wing hacks.

Do your homework people, McCain is worse than any Democrat. Palin is a liar and totally unqualified. Eveyone who claims to have been a Hillary supporter and now says they will vote for McCain because Obama is the devil, are a bunch of liars. Period. Hillary had my support and still does. You will all get what you deserve if McCain wins and no more whining for you.

Michelle Malkin? This is the woman who says internment camps were the right thing to do? This is who you use as a source? These people are disgusting.

There is no debunking Pailin. There are enough tapes to show words from her own mouth. She is no woman I would ever look up to or respect. She is no Hillary. She ought to be run out of town on a rail.

I suppose the earmarks she got for her state go very well with the platform now of no earmarks. Do you realize how contradictory every word she utters is? She is just another politican along the lines of Marcia Blackburn. Ugly, dirty politics from two disgusting woman. It makes me sick.

Yes, us dems are loons alright. Bush and all of his ilk are what we want runing this country. No Way, No How, No McCain. No Palin. I say Hillary has it right.

Sorry to post something so long, but it is relevant to Rev Amy's post on MoveOn's rumor mongering, since George Soros has provided the seed money to them and other liberal groups. One has to question why such a person has been instrumental in the development of The New Democratic Party that has selected Obama as its leader.

See George Soros was a Hungarian Jew and Nazi colloborator. What I think is striking is his absolute lack of remorse for what he did. This is from an interview during "60's Minutes" with Steve Kroft on 12/20/1998:

Kroft: (Voiceover) These are pictures from 1944 of
what happened to George Soros’ friends and neighbors.
(Vintage footage of women and men with bags over their
shoulders walking; crowd by a train)
Kroft: (Voiceover) You’re a Hungarian Jew. . .
Mr. Soros: (Voiceover) Mm-hmm.
Kroft: (Voiceover) . . .who escaped the Holocaust. . .
(Vintage footage of women walking by train)
Mr. Soros: (Voiceover) Mm-hmm. (Vintage footage of
people getting on train)
Kroft: (Voiceover) . . .by–by posing as a Christian.
Mr. Soros: (Voiceover) Right. (Vintage footage of women
helping each other get on train; train door closing with
people in boxcar)
Kroft: (Voiceover) And you watched lots of people get
shipped off to the death camps.
Mr. Soros: Right. I was 14 years old. And I would say
that that’s when my character was made.
Kroft: In what way?
Mr. Soros: That one should think ahead. One should
understand and–and anticipate events and when–when
one is threatened. It was a tremendous threat of evil. I
mean, it was a–a very personal experience of evil.
Kroft: My understanding is that you went out with this
protector of yours who swore that you were his adopted
godson.
Mr. Soros: Yes. Yes.
Kroft: Went out, in fact, and helped in the confiscation
of property from the Jews.
Mr. Soros: Yes. That’s right. Yes.
Kroft: I mean, that’s–that sounds like an experience that would send lots of people to the psychiatric couch for
many, many years. Was it difficult?
Mr. Soros: Not–not at all. Not at all. Maybe as a child
you don’t–you don’t see the connection. But it was–it created
no–no problem at all.
Kroft: No feeling of guilt?
Mr. Soros: No.
Kroft: For example that, ‘I’m Jewish and
here I am, watching these people go. I could
just as easily be there. I should be there.’
None of that?
Mr. Soros: Well, of course I c—I could be
on the other side or I could be the one from
whom the thing is being taken away. But
there was no sense that I shouldn’t be there,
because that was—well, actually, in a funny
way, it’s just like in markets—that if I weren’t
there—of course, I wasn’t doing it, but somebody
else would—would—would be taking it
away anyhow. And it was the—whether I was
there or not, I was only a spectator, the property
was being taken away. So the—I had no
role in taking away that property. So I had no
sense of guilt.

The Soros family was among the “elite” Hungarian
Jews, which afforded them the ability to make arrangements
to survive under the Nazi occupation.

Soros has been the main backer of Obama since he was a state senator, and was the source of the soft money that went into his campaigns.

I am really really curious how some Obama backers can start explaining to me how a person like Obama who claims he is taking the moral high road and starting a new form of politics can knowingly receive backing by a man with such a lack of remorse for what he did to his own people and his own culture. Needless to say, Soros is not liked by many Jews.

If you've ever met a real right wing wacko, you would realize that they don't even get into a man's field, like politics or business!

And yes Hillary did say that about them taking us in the wrong direction, but I believe that Hillary is tied to the party, which is becoming more dominated by neo-progressives and George Soros. She more importantly is responsible to her current senator status and her constitutents, and cannot rock the boat of her standing in her own party if she hopes to get anything for her state during an Obama term. The threats of loss of money and support if you do not support Obama is very real, and although it represents somewhat of the nature of politics, the Soros financed Obama campaign is trying to take it one step further, wherein THEY decide who is eligible to run for any office. Do you really want to go back to the 1960s?

Anyway, I personally believe that the direction that the Dem Party is headed in is more of a wrong direction than anyone could anticipate. It is not just "petty politics" as some would like for us to believe. It is about external forces taking over American government and our nation's sovereignty, something that was also occurring in 1932, which almost made FDR not even get the nomination. I suggest you read your history. [History is something that is lost among the youth today!]

Obama is no FDR no matter how this New Dem Party wants to swing it, and his civilian corps is not comparable to the New Deal. It goes way beyond something that most Dems and real liberals are not comfortable with.

I would think that students would be very concerned about tying their receipt of federal grant funds and loans to which group they volunteer for determined by the Obama presidency. And he has made no bones about his desire to expand the faith-based recipients for such funds. Perhaps you should look at this plan, one of the few policy proposals Obama has bothered to expound upon. You cannot assume that Obama is for the mere expansion of groups like the PeaceCorps and AmeriCorps by increasing their federal dollars. He is NOT saying that.

You funny, Rev. Amy. You real funny.

Here's some of what Pat Buchanan wrote today:

"Barack and Michelle are affirmative action, Princeton, Columbia, Harvard Law. [Palin] is public schools and Idaho State. Barack was a Saul Alinsky social worker who rustled up food stamps. Sarah Palin kills her own food. ...

"Sarah is a rebel. Obama has been a go-along, get-along cog in the Daley Machine. ..."

Pat Buchanan has never, ever supported Barack Obama in this race. So Amy, will you please correct the misinformation in your original post?

You guys keep playing the abortion card even though the Republicans had control of all three branches of government for 6 years and didn’t touch the issue with a 10 foot pole. Why would they start now?

Exactly gregoryp --

I have been an active member of NOW and PP for over 20 years, and believe that neither side will get rid of this issue because it is too much of a motivation source for their base; it's a vote getter and a tie breaker.

Having said that, personally I don't even believe Obama's stance on it. Because when he had a chance to defend his stance, when questioned about his vote for the IL BAIPA amendment, he did not take accountability, but instead blamed PP for telling him how to vote. What kind of leader is that?

So I'm just supposed to hope that he will side with us? Then they are trying to claim that while Repubs won't outlaw abortion, they will instead outlaw birth control like Bush is doing in HHS... which state RTL groups have been trying to do on many different levels for years. I just don't buy it. McCain is not for outlawing abortion or birth control. The christian conservatives had their chance when they control of all levels of power (including many state governorships) and didn't do it!

fif,

I live in the inner city of Milwaukee, and for the first time in my life, I'm seeing McCain/Palin signs everywhere. When I've tried to use this as a rebuttal for people don't want Obama because they are racist, I am actually dumbfounded. And when in the poorer areas that are just blocks away, I don't see Obama signs. But they are plastered all over in the richer areas where the college students and academics live.
