Barack “Words Matter” Obama [Updated]

[BELOW: SCREENSHOTS OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY'S DIRECT ATTACK ON SARAH PALIN.]

The candidate who made an issue of the importance of words cannot have it both ways. He cannot insist that words matter then later use the gender equivalent of racist slurs to attack his political opponents and then cry foul. Sorry Barack, you got caught.

Remember when Barack insisted that words matter?

He continued: “…It’s true that speeches don’t solve all problems, but what is also true is if we cannot inspire the country to believe again then it doesn’t matter how many policies and plans we have…That is why we just won eight elections straight, because the American people want to believe in change again. Don’t tell me words don’t matter!“

So, you want us to believe that the guy who says “words matter” just happened to refer to McCain/Palin as a pig with lipstick ? Right. Oh, and he also said:

You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called ‘change,’” Obama continued, “it’s still gonna stink after eight years.

Okay, here’s a simple question–why is “douche” advertised on television?

Yep, that’s right, because there is a certain time of the month that fertile women tend to smell like fish. Also, women who are sexually active and do not use a condom and do not wash can wind up with a fishy smell. Crude? Yes, and I apologize. But it is true.

But of course, Barack would never use subliminal messages to convey his true feelings. Wait, what about Jay-Z?

PRESIDENTIAL hopeful Barack Obama claims to run a clean campaign, but someone in his camp took a swipe at Hillary Clinton through the candidate’s theme song. As Obama and his wife, Michelle, strolled triumphantly into his victory party in Des Moines, Iowa, on Jan. 3, Jay-Z’s “99 Problems” was blaring — a song where Jay raps, “I got 99 problems but a bitch ain’t one.” Most listeners took it as a not-so-sly reference to Clinton. “We didn’t know he used that,” a shocked Clinton spokesperson said. Obama has no problem admitting he’s a rap fan. “I tell you what. I can tell you the kinds of stuff that I love dancing to, and that is, I’m sort of, of the generation of Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind and Fire,” he told CNN along the campaign trail. “But I’m sort of hip to the younger stuff. You know, like Beyoncé’s ‘Crazy in Love.’ That’s a good song to dance to.

Sure, he wasn’t calling Hillary a bitch. Of course he came back to that theme when he brushed his shoulders off in front of an adoring crowd. In fact, Matthew Iglesias found it “pretty cool.”

Or how about Hillary being called “shrill” when she had the audacity to challenge the golden child on his nonsense (see here).

I think Barack was right. Words do matter and he is smart enough to know what he is saying in order to convey a certain message. His sexist assault on Sarah Palin, however, has backfired. Thank goodness. Barack’s wounded victim act is wearing thin.

UPDATE: Well, guess what? The Democrats pegged Palin as a “pig with lipstick” eleven days ago (30 August). BELOW are the screenshots and the image. Did the Democrats repudiate this? Hell no. Here is the link and the quote:

Palin does not change one single thing of what the Republicans are offering which is four more years of George Bush. All that McCain did was to put lipstick on the Pig (the Bush Administration whose failed strategies have wrecked our nation). Nothing has changed except for an exciting and sexy dash of lipstick to freshen up their tired old face of more of the same.

The same people who do not like the Bush Administration for what it has done to this nation are not going to be fooled by the lipstick on the pig. And it they think that the American public are so stupid that they will rush over now and kiss their pig of a platform because it is wearing a fresh touch of lipstick, well I think they will be surprised. Economically, the majority of Americans are at the breaking point. Most American families literally cannot stand another four more years of the same.

Click on the screenshots to see each full-size.

dems-pig-2.jpg

So don’t tell me that Barack did not mean anything when he used this metaphor. And you are doing drugs if you believe he did not have Sarah Palin in mind.

Obama On Letterman: ‘McCain Policy Is The Pig’
Presidential Hopeful Says Media Took His Words And Ran; Defends Bush Policies On Afghanistan, AIDS In Africa
NEW YORK (CBS) ― Presidential hopeful Barack Obama appeared on the “Late Show with David Letterman” in New York on Wednesday after a day of heated debate by media and political pundits over comments some took as a slam against Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

Thanks Larry,
His WIRMing is reminiscent of that old saw:
“I know you believe you understand what you think I said; but what you fail to realize is that what you heard is not what I really meant…”
All it “is” is “Words…”

Obama says the pig/lipstick comment was taken out of context.
He didn’t have a problem when he took Hillary’s RFK omment out of context and attacked her.
Obama is the dirtiest politician ever crawled on earth.

Comment by Beowulf | 2008-09-10 22:25:15

Concerning Hillary’s RFK comment:

1. I do think it was not wise for her to to say it, to say the least. However, having said that…

2. I suspect she was hinting at an October surprise and NOT an assassination attempt. After all, the media was reporting rumors that Harold Ickes was making the rounds with superdelegates talking about an imminent October surprise awaiting Obama.

Besides, when Bill was President, there were several attempts on his life. Around 1993, some nut job literally flew a small propeller plane into the White House. I believe there were to separate “crazed gunman” incidents too. And these are just the stuff the Secret Service let the public know about.

Nobody wants the One to die.
If he gets killed, he will become a martyr, real legend.
That’s not what we want.
We want him exposed for what he really is. A lying race-baiting politician.
Long Live the ONE!

Actually I would like to see him get busted for his criminal activity, go to prison and wind up wearing a dress, some lipstick and some pearls while some guy named Bubba gives him his just desserts. Is this to much to ask?

To be honest, I don’t care what happens to him as long as he is gone and the truth comes out and he is not allowed to have any influence on this country, even as a Senator. Someone needs to take him down and I don’t care who or how!

Comment by Beowulf | 2008-09-11 10:24:35

If Obama is not exposed and the “truth never comes out” and something bad happens to him, then he WILL BE a martyr.

This is the last thing we need.

Obama won the nomination by his divisive race-baiting. If he wins the Presidency or is assassinated without being exposed, then from now on, every time a black candidate runs in the Democratic primary process–and there will be plenty, he will follow the Obama-tastic pathway to success, i.e. RACE-BAITING. Well, at least 50% of black candidates will resort to this… And even if they don’t , the black community will resort to race-baiting 100% of the time on their behalf. (Hispanics too might try this bullshit. Even a Machiavellian woman could then fraudulently gender-bait too.) This means that the Democratic coalition is will be fractured every 4 years. The party will be forever divided & conquered.

This precedent has to be stopped. It has to be nipped in the bud–starting with Barack O’Racebait. FOR THE GOOD OF THE PARTY, HE HAS TO BE EXPOSED.

The entire editorial board of the paper agreed - she was answering the question of why she was still in it. She said Bill Clinton and RFK were BOTH still in it at this point. Then, acknowledged RFK was killed in CA - IMO - she kind of stumbled into it.

You see, douchebag, I listened to the entire meeting. She was simply bringing up others who were still trying to win the nomination at the same point in the race.
Barack is not the center of the universe.

His campaign sent the Olbermann rant about RFK to 1,000 media contacts to fuel the story, then yesterday, he has the nerve to protest: “Enough! They take a phrase or word out of context. Enough with the phony outrage. I love my country too much to see them do this again.”

For all you lurkers who think we are racists, THIS is exactly the reason I will not vote for him. He is the worst kind of hypocrite, playing the innocent victim. We have seen this exact same routine many times before from him. It is not new, it is just ignored by the press, while they scramble to make excuses for him. Enough! is right.

Dick Morris (the creep) was on O’Rielly’s tonight and, although I hate to reference anything he says, I may agree with him this time. He said Palin had gotten inside Obama’s head. Now there are two women in that big, empty space reminding him just how inadequate he really is.

Obama is a fucking joke.

Comment by richasis | 2008-09-11 03:53:53

let me tell you what i inferred from his quip:

barko’s premise is that the ‘the pig’ is Bush’s policies and ‘the lipstick’ is McCain’s spin of the same policies.

however, barko nonetheless states that he “would like to try putting lipstick on a pig…”

okay, so it’s not ‘the pig’ that bothers him, it’s the lipstick! :)

Comment by Carol | 2008-09-11 11:34:11

Obama is the best insincere person that I know that can sound sincere. If the lipstick thing was so innocent then why was it brought up now? Obama’s body language, the tone of his voice and his hesitation between the sentences made me gasp and think that he called Palin a pig. The biggest give away was the smirk on his face.

Comment by missouridove | 2008-09-11 13:29:41

This guy milks the story of his wife getting killed by a drunk driver and then parades around blasted out of his mind in a public forum?

Wait What? The Driver was not Drunk! Joe has been called on that a number of times. The family of the other victim has even called him to stop saying that.

Comment by NoTrollZone | 2008-09-10 21:18:17

Biden’s gone around saying that a drunk driver killed his wife. we have to have strong laws to prevent this. blah, blah, blah.
And as you point out, there is no evidence that the driver was drunk. and Biden never pressed any charges– which further debunks his fiction.
So Biden fabricates this myth to wrap himself in– this teetotler (sp) horse-pucky and this victim of the evils of alcohol and then gets on stage at a political event and is pretty much shit-faced.
I don’t know… kind of seems like there’s a story here.

Jeremiah the other driver was not drunk and did not die in the accident, but he did suffer from depression for the rest of his life. I don’t have a lot of pity for Biden after the way he talked about Hillary, but it is a little sad to see so much destruction left in the wake of Obama’s ego.

Comment by TheGhost | 2008-09-11 11:36:21

Didn’t Biden have some kind of a stroke long ago?

Perhaps he is having some nerve-brain damage symptoms and problems surfacing at his age.

Wasn’t he planning to retire, he is now 65?

He could even have recently had what is called “transient ischemic attack” which is a very small, tiny stroke in the brain which can affect the muscular system in different parts of the body. His speech could be slightly affected.

My mother had that problem.

Where’s Obama birth certificate and other documents?

Obama will claim that empty top slot on the ballot as a vote for himself since it’s a dem ticket. Obama claimed votes for himself from registered voters who didn’t cast a vote in the primaries. They use a list of voters who didn’t vote. That was in the primary. Beware. Many pumas think the empty top slot will stay empty. My, My, My. After all we have been through and seen, do you really think the top slot will stay empty? naw naw naw. I don’t expect anyone to believe me. Actualy McCain probably new these kids were uncontrollable and that’s why he picked the seemingly desperate VP pick. He new the brats would be unable to curb their stupidity and would take obama out with him. One thing about generation X we are smart as hell but we have no common sense, and out biggest flaw is that we don’t listen to other people. We have gone into the adult world, with a teenage mentality. everything that can be said does not always need to be said. For instance when I was about 8 i happen to tell and adult that they were lying, my mother yanked me for doing that, and told me children should not say that to adults. For years, I thought my mom was nuts, and then I grew up and saw my younger cousins say the same thing to people and cringe. obama should never have gone with in ten miles of lipstick. heck he should have known not to even say chapstick. After all there is a reason why Politics and polite come from the same root word. But the news media and his fanatics let him get away with the middle finger thing, now he thinks we are supposed to think every thing he says or does is untouchable and can just be explained away. there are many time I write out a rant and never sent it because, I knew what I was saying would be hurtful or just not reflect well on me as a person. There is one truth but many ways to say it.

However I think McCain should point to all the examples of how obama, mocked hillary clinton. And combine i with the lipstick a people would begin to see the sexism quite easily.

Comment by BJinChicago | 2008-09-10 23:23:20

“One thing about generation X we are smart as hell but we have no common sense”

Please don’t blame this on Generation X. People keep seeming to forget that GENERATION X HAS GROWN UP NOW and many journalists still mistakenly label anyone “young” as Generation X.

Technically speaking, the oldest GenXer could possibly be almost 50 now. This presumes the most generous Generation X birth span of 1960-1980. Some say that GenX started in 1965; regardless, it is a certain that no-one born after 1980 is Generation X. Anyone born after 1980 is either Generation Y or Millennial.

Thanks
(GenXer here, in her late 30s, coming up on 40 soon and no longer a kid.)

The msm seems to be burying it. Several repubs have
given obama a pass. BS!
He meant to infer Palin was a pig and that’s obvious to anyone with a modicum of sense.

And of course the delightful fish comment.
This story needs to stay in the fore-front.

Plus we have the “sweetie” comment and the garbage he directed at Hillary.

It’s obvious the pig comment was meant to be a direct hit on Palin. I’m getting really sick of media morons pretending that he didn’t say it, McCain used the phrase (HEY STUPID MEDIA– there’s nothing wrong with the phrase when it’s meant to imply there’s something inherently wrong with a POLICY! Directed at a woman, it’s a obvious, juvenille, nasty slur).

Macaca-Mouth Obama needs to be taken down. And this story can do it if people stay tough on it. The msm clowns are trying to bury it. Keep it at the forefront!

Ok, OK, OK ……… I get it. Sara was a brilliant choice. Actually, I said that the day it happened. Let’s get back to the issues. That barracuda can obviously defend herself and Obama is shooting himself in the foot.

American voters will be waking up to the fact that trillions of their tax money has just been pledged by Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson to bail out bankrupt banks’ securities in the financial crash. Subsequently, more and bigger banks are getting the runs. More big bailouts are being rumored in the financial press.

A subsidiary of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway, Kansas Bankers Surety Corp., has terminated its “excess deposit insurance” plan by which it insured bank deposits above $100,000, particularly for smaller community and regional banks. The reason, a Paris banking source said today, is that Buffett fears 1,500 U.S. banks failing in the near future. The Wall Street Journal made a similar report of Buffett’s fears as the cause.

A “tip of the iceberg” research report immediately identified 14 U.S. regional banks, at least 5% of whose core capital was now-worthless stock of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac; since the report only identified one-thirtieth of that stock outstanding, the actual number of such banks is in the hundreds. They now have to raise more capital in a credit market which ain’t buying, and a large number will have to be merged or taken over.

Lehman (or, Lemon) Brothers, whose CEO Richard Fuld is closely advised by Felix Rohatyn, is “into endgame” reported the Wall Street Journal after it reported a $3.9 billion second-quarter loss and started setting up a separate unit to try to auction off $30 billion in commercial mortgage-backed securities. The amount reminds a lot of Bear Stearns, and the toxic crap is like what Merrill Lynch recently sold for 20 cents on the dollar–after having to loan the buyer the money. So, the press are full of reports of another Federal Reserve MBS bailout coming. Rumors say the likely “receiving bank” for the remnants of Lemon Brothers is Morgan Stanley.

Washington Mutual, the country’s biggest S&L with over $250 billion in deposits and a totally toxic book of mortgage “assets,” was placed on probation by the Office of Thrift Supervision, with the cost of derivatives to insure its bonds zooming up to an all-time record $4 million upfront plus $500,000/year to insure $10 million. It’s unlikely to be able to raise more capital, or to find another bank willing to buy.

Mark this down: The housing market will have bottomed by the end of 2008. Most of the bad news is out. There may be some more high-visibility write-downs to come, but by & large the worst is over. I don’t predict a meaningful rebound in housing prices any time before 2010 (most likely 2011), but the declines will stop and real estate markets around the nation will stabilize. Actually, in another couple of months it will probably be a great time to start loading up on the stocks of financial services companies. One should always look to buy when the level of pessimism is at its highest.

This entire debacle will serve as a ver valuable lesson to both banks and the government of the hazards of funding naked real estate speculation with Fed money. Regulations will be tightened and margin requirements will be increased. Certain types of abusive mortgages (”interest only” or “reverse amortization” mortgages for example) will be drastically curtailed or eliminated entirely.

There’s no magic solution to the mortgage mess. The nation had one hell of a party for years based on rising real estate prices, and after every parry comes a hangover. Democrats are just as much to blame in this whole mess as Republicans.

Comment by typical gram cracker | 2008-09-11 00:43:10

The pain won’t bottom out in 2008. 2009 will also be bad. ARMs will be readjusting and many will not be able to pay the higher payments . Since house prices are still declining people will not have enough equity to qualify for traditional 80/20 mortgages.

Good post.
I know from personal experience that Washington Mutual has been looting customer’s safe deposit boxes in Northern Cal. A lot of people don’t know it yet because they infrequently if ever visit their boxes. They think as long as the box is paid for it is in good standing and not “abandoned.” A friend of mine told me that some banks did this in the 1930s before they crashed. I have no idea how often you are supposed to visit the box for it to not be “abandoned.” -Maybe every three months? Maybe, “abandoned” means whenever they are inclined to steal.

If anyone is reading this and you have a Washington Mutual safe deposit box you had better get your valuables out if you still can. I told several friends of mine this happened to me last year and basically no one believed me. They tried to but couldn’t wrap their mind around the fact. -This being the United States and not Nazi Germany and all… “Are you sure you paid the box fee,” they asked? Most people pay for their boxes via automatic withdrawal from their checking account and think this means the box isn’t considered to be abandoned. I know that California banks were told to stop doing this but who is going to enforce this?

Well, I did for you what no one did for me and you have been warned. Please pass this info on to your friends and relatives as they sure won’t hear about it on the networks.

I did hear that there is a web site set up where you can apply to recoup property that was looted and sold on ebay. That is- you can supposedly get back the ebay value of your grandmother’s pearls etc. If you have cash; well cash has a way of vanishing. There are a few but scanty stories about this on the internet. I heard that some elderly parents of a friend were saying a stamp collection or something disappeared from their box, but my friend thought they must have gotten confused about paying the box fee.

Sorry, this is kind of off topic but I consider it to be a community service posting. I also don’t see the media war i.e. sexist savaging of women to be an unimportant issue either. We are being attacked on all sides.

Peace, out

My take was he was taking a double shot to the ticket:

Palin —-> pig.
McCaim the stinking old fish.

Another interpretation–which he seems to advanced today on Letterman is that McCain was also the pig and Palin the lipstick: ie. Palin is a sexualize object; an “interesting story” he respects because he is the mere “mother of five”.

Comment by D | 2008-09-10 23:17:21

Most 12 year olds have seen someone get his ass kicked for smarting off to a loose cannon or two in their lifetimes.
When Barry wasn’t playing “no D” hoops, he was hanging with the cheerleaders learning how to slice and dice with the best of them. This is so evident in his speech patterns and smart mouth flippancy.
In the day, there were things you wouldn’t risk saying to people unless you wanted to fight. Barry never had that life lesson. Trust me, if you were to say the shit he says or in the manner he says it, you would wonder why you were looking at the ceiling. One sneer to a girl in school like he did to Hill in that photo and someone would have lit him up. Barry never hung with the dudes who backed up their talk. He wouldn’t have lasted ten minutes.

I think a great deal of the purposeful filth that is being spewed by that campaign is also a diversionary tactic, to take the heat off of, more than likely voter fraud on Nov 4th, similar if not worse than the caucus fraud. Also I think they are quite simply, losing their collective minds. There is a great deal of end fighting going on at the O site. People don’t have any more money to donate, people think O has no spine and are saying so, and Gov Palin has caused the center to disintegrate. Don’t think for one minute they don’t have a plan B. They do not care what crap is insinuated, regarding women especially; the fish comment didn’t escape any of us, one doesn’t have to look too far. I think there is a push to see if we will lose it in a racist way, for real. I think we are close to seeing actual violence, the words and extreme to which the left is going to verbally execute Gov Palin, is just one step away from it. The risk taking behavior, has attorneys in the wings just waiting to be asked to take the slander suits. Cowards can remove filth after they have posted it as a story(Cheetoh home), but there is still proof.
It all boils down to this, if you are going to vote for Obama, what is the reason you are doing so? Don’t tell me policy, he has none, you cannot track where one iota of his planning comes from, he doesn’t take responsibility for himself, and has no thought to how he behaves or what he says. If he will do this to his fellow countrywomen, what on earth do you think his behavior will look like, should he be CIC? Much like now, he will be either so aggressive he will be trigger happy, or so passive he will allow anything. Please vote, but when you do, be realistic, and understand who you are voting for. You are voting for issues yes, but you are also voting the character of a person who could give two shits about you if you are female, white or older,as well as from a small town, do you think he will want to send any breaks your direction? No, he is using women everywhere, in anyway he can. All Obama is, is a pimp for the democratic party.

Obama probably grew up thinking referring a woman to a bitch is not bad. Unless of course he gets called out on it.

The dumb masses continue the debacle.

Comment by C.S. | 2008-09-10 21:19:24

Soretoro/Obama grew up in Indonesia where a woman couldn’t even be listed as their children’s parent unless she was a widow. His American mother willingly followed her husband to Indonesia and obviously accepted the culture of his country and exposed her son to a culture that gave women second class citizenship at best, made her a part of the husband’s property at worst.

Rogers and Hammerstein sums it up best in the song from musical South Pacific.

“You have to be taught, before it’s too late, before you are six, seven, or eight, to hate all the people your relatives hate, you have to be carefully taught.”

From Soetoro/Obama’s actions with the women of his campaign (paying them less than the men), treating female reporters differently from their male counterparts (hasn’t called any of them “sweetie”), openly and on video giving the finger to his female rival Senator Hillary Clinton and now comparing the female governor of Alaska who interfered with his media coverage as a pig wearing lipstick, he has shown nothing but contempt for more than one half of this country’s population regardless of their racial heritage.

But just as he rages over “racist” comments he perceives others to have made, he ignores the rage of his own sexist comments directed at every female who gets in is way. And he is using the same old double standards of second class citizenship against women that has outlasted the second class citizenship against the blacks.

Comment by NoBamaNoWay | 2008-09-10 23:45:00

They are organizing like mad to GOTV, all on their own, using every social network they have. They are going to be coming out of the WOODWORK in November. Droves.

The entire quote is: “Keep in mind, technically, had I meant it this way, [Palin] would be the lipstick. The failed policies of John McCain would be the pig, just following the logic of this illogical situation,” Obama said.”

BO is apparently implying that Palin is only superficial window dressing on McCain pig policies. Wow — that really “clarifies” things.

I think he just made the whole thing worse.Lucky for him that tomorrow is 9/11 and it probably won’t get any air time.

Comment by TeakwoodKite | 2008-09-10 23:10:03

So it could not be any clearer, “technically”, Obama is an asshat. He is so tone deaf that even Letterman’s side kick Paul’s singing doesn’t bother him. I always thought the 5th amendment was something to do with self incrimination. He votes away the 4th and uses the 5th religiously.

Since you linked to me, I guess I should get to have my say.

There was indeed a problem with people calling Hillary shrill - and if I recall it was mostly those on the right who dubbed her “Shillary.” Much as I tilted horns with Obama’s supporters, it was the rightwingers who called Hillary that, not them.

On the other hand, I believe most people realize that Obama was referring to policy not to Sarah Palin when he made the statement about putting lipstick on a pig. In fact, that quote is a well known colloquialism which has been used by many people, including a boss of mine back in 1992 - long before anybody ever heard of Sarah Palin. In fact, John McCain used the very same expression to describe Hillary Clinton’s health care plan.

Oh yes, and although Hillary was my first choice, I agree with her, “No McCain, no way.” And that goes double for Sarah Palin.

She’s a serial liar and a serial flip flopper. She supported the Bridge to Nowhere before she opposed it and she hired a lobbyist to bring home the bacon to Wasilla - she did not fight pork.

I’m impressed by your honesty in this post. Most people (esp men) don’t have the confidence to write about such things, which is why Bozo can get away with his misogynistic slurs. He is SO rude that people would rather pretend he meant Palin is lipstick and McCain is fish (or whatever his lame bullshit excuse was).

The Roman poet/philosopher Lucretius wrote about women’s vaginal odors in his book, De Rerum Natura, in 50 BCE in a factual and objective way.

I can’t think of another instance.

really hate to prolong this unpleasant discussion, but men stink down there too; it’s just that women don’t go around constantly talking about that kind of vulgar stuff so you don’t hear about it as much. let’s not add to the sexism while supposedly decrying it.

in fact, far too much has probably been said already; frankly it’s best to let barky’s words speak for themselves and let voters come to the inevitable conclusion by themselves. let’s not overplay the sexism card like the obamacrats overplayed the racism card.

Mckatmoon, that is why they are melting down. Obama has no plan-b.
Axelrod is an urban strategist. It worked great in the primary when he could steal votes, drop the race bomb in states with a majority black vote.
Palin crushed their gameplan into a million peices and they are trying to pickthe pieces.
They were banking on McCain picking a crotchety old white guy.
McCain kept his pick top secret unlike obama who i think everyone knew he was going to pick biden days before it happened. They leaked their shortlist and gave the dogs a whiff every now and then to keep their vp drama in the news.
McCain played misdirection. He kept hinting at pro-choice running mates and boring guys like romney and pawlenty to lead everyone even his base in the wrong direction.
Then BANG she is on the scene, conservatives are so relieved and excited they are ready to help Mac win this.
Obama and reporters were totally threw for a loop. That is why they kept saying she was not vetted, because she wasn’t. By them anyhow.
Obama thought Hillary would get him just enough of her supporters and that most pro-choicers would come home he could do the damn thing. Palin was like someone pressing reset and spotting McCain 7 points in a game to 11.
He is back on his heels and another mistake by him or his party and he is out. McCainomania has taken over and McCain proved when the heat is on he exceeds beyond belief. Obama, not so much.

Comment by McKatmoon | 2008-09-10 20:58:58

You really think so? I tell you I am very concerned about voter fraud, particularly with tricking students. The game they are playing right now is letting the students believe they can register where they go to school, if it’s away from their home state, which they can do, and it won’t affect them, if they are an independent student. But, if they are dependent(on their parents tax forms, and being sponsored by federal student loans as dependent) they will cause their parents to lose their ability to claim them, they will also lose their status as dependent putting them in a different student aid bracket. You can see how they may try to fix this problem, by registering to vote again in their home state if it’s found out, they won’t be able to vote because registering twice is a big no-no. If they aren’t found out, then come the following semester, or tax time, there are going to be some big problems, I forget to mention, they will also have to possibly start paying the student loan back, if going from dependent to independent(only on some loans) This will also give them one hell of a bad taste about voting, but we know who will be blamed for it. And finally guess who will get stuck with the bankrupt loans… especially if they were guaranteed by Fannie May, which some of them are(not the private Sallie Mae loans).

Comment by mimi | 2008-09-10 21:57:30

Hillary’s remarks are disappointing.

But the truth is, as much as I hate to say this, We can’t PROVE his intention with that remark. That’s what’s so damn frustrating about these kinds of situations.

I know what he meant. You all know he meant to say it. But there’s absolutely no way we can PROVE it.

We also have to face the facts that Hillary is not going to say or do anything that might be misconstrued.

So ‘pig gate’ is over.

McCain and the Republicans need to let what they have on 0bama fly. He keeps alluding to it. He said it again today that he’s “not going to let anyone imply that he doesn’t love this country.” He knows that the Repubs have the goods and he’s prepping everyone for it.

It’s probably best McCain let this go because it’s going nowhere. 0bama still has the msm in his back pocket.

And it’s probably best that we do too. For the time being.

The last thing we want to do is weaken the effect of the coming attacks against this prick.

becky, McCain is not the reason the last 8 years have been rocky.
If you were not such an angry leftist you would realize that.
With John McCain as president i believe we will be safe and prosperous.
With Obama, i see him more as GWB.
Also, let me ask you something about change. If a candidate pushes policy that has been tryed and been around since in some case the 30’s and in most cases 70’s. Would you call that change?
Because all of Obama’s policy’s are the same junk that got carter to lose reelection. And things such as Universal Healthcare has been around since the thirties.
Obama is a tyoical tax and spend liberal.
His tax cut for “95%” of working americans is not a tax cut at all. It is a 500 dollar giveaway. It is welfare. It goes to poeple who do not even pay income taxes. It is also a one shot deal, like the stimulus check. but, i guess welfare is cool for dems, you don’t to EARN money. Obama will just give it to you.
He is proposing over one trillion dollars in new spending and only tells how he is going to pay for 1/4 of it. Thats not change. It is the same liberal agenda that has lost every election. Bill Clinton won because he was a centrist with centrist policy.
On the other hand, McCain is offering workers an increase in EIC of $7000. That is the biggest tax break in american history.
He is going to cut our corporate tax rate which is the 2nd highest in the world by ten percent. He is goin to capital gains tax right where it is Obama has said he will raise it as high as 28 percent.
Also, do you know obama’s “universal” Health Care plan covers illegal aliens? 15 million of them.
That is going to be taxed out of my pocket.
If you tax the check cutters and job makers they pass it on to employees and consumers. Obama is a disaster for our country.
Becky if you thought the last 8 years were bad you ain’t seen nothin yet if Obama gets elected.

about palin and earmarks to the knucklehead above.
As a mayor for 6 years Palin got 27 million in earmarks, obama on the other hand in less than 3 years has requested 932 million in pork, and she opposed the bridge in the end.
She would never had to even speak of a bridge if Obama and Joe Biden did not vote for it. She didn’t ask for the bridge and when she became governor she put the nail in its coffin.
You can say she was for it before she was against it but WHO CARES. She was for it before she governor. When she became governor she canceled.
Also, yes she has fought earmarks. SHE HAS VETOED OVER 500 MILLION IN PORK AS GOVERNOR. That is more pork vetoed per day by palin than pork Obama has requested per day.
Anonymous women, get your facts right.
Obama has been for and against himself this entire race and you do not seem to mind.

From Jennifer Rubin:

In the Lipstick Controversy I accused Barack Obama of objectifying Sarah Palin — reducing her to the status of a lady’s cosmetic. I was right. From his appearance on Letterman, Obama declares:

“Keep in mind that, technically had I meant it this way –- she would be the lipstick!”

Well that clears that up. My only question: Has he gone stark, raving mad? This is supposed to help him, suggesting that rather than an animal it is just a decorative accessory which pops to mind when he thinks of his opponent’s running mate? Someone, anyone with a modicum of common sense, needs to sit him and Joe Biden down and tell them to stop. Just stop. It’s too painful to watch.

Screw the parties!

We need to think about competency and historical references.

Who do you think is ready on “Day One?” Who has the better chance of real reform, of bucking the status quo? Who has shown the moxie, the guts to do just that, to push against the wall of indifference, to push even when the odds are against that individual, who doesn’t give a damn what the rest of the world thinks, who is willing to take a risk, even when it’s against his/her best interest?

Who is willing to throw it against the wall, everything, anything, on the basis of honor, respect and that ancient notion of integrity for right or wrong convictions? Who is willing to be humble in the wake of enormous responsibility and the weight of other lives and futures riding on your individual, personal decisions?

Who is ready and able to take that responsibility? Who is ready without a frigging doubt to be POTUS?

I know my choice. Do you?

I do think it would have been okay for Obama to use McCain’s own words, i.e. “lipstick on a pig”, against McCain provided Sarah Palin NEVER referred to herself and other hockey moms as “pit bulls” with “lipstick”.

It’s abundantly clear from the audience’s striking reaction that they knew exactly what Obama was getting at.

LOL. Had the situation been in reverse, no doubt the bots would be called it race-baiting.

I wouldn’t care one way or the other if Bristol is pregnant with a black man’s baby instead of her fiance’s. It’s a family issue. Is that the worst thing they can dig up? I mean after all, Obama’s mother was impregnated by a black man. This would not change my mind about Palin. I’m sure Palin is being truthful about what she is aware of. Geesh..Obama’s followers are acting as if it’s a bad thing that the father may be black. What’s up with that?

Post from Lynn Ehrlicher’s Blog:
Lipstick on a Pig

Comments | Mail to a Friend | Report Objectionable Content
It is appropriate that Palin refers to herself as a pitbull–an ugly, snarling, threatening animal. But we all know that the lipstick she talks about isn’t on a pitbull. She is lipstick on a pig, the pig being the Republican party in general, John McBush in particular.

We’ve all heard the joke that Washington is Hollywood for ugly people. I get that. But we need to push back on the cynicism that McSame is pushing, knowing that signing on a sexy grandma will get white men to vote for him because they want to sleep with her. You know it’s true!

Let’s send out a steady stream of Democratic women on the news show circuit NOW, and capitalize on the fact that they can’t send Palin out there because she KNOWS NOTHING. The repuklicans know that the hard questions the press will ask her are going to destroy her, and that’s why they have to keep her locked in her dressing room All we will see are the sound bites from the solitary speech she gave that was written for her by a Bush speech writer, and the press will have to play them over and over and over ad nauceum until it gets drilled into the head of the common folk that she really is lipstick on a pig.

More obama plagerism.

Barack Obama’s “lipstick on a pig” comment grabbed all the headlines Wednesday, but a line he delivered just before that remark is leading critics to wonder whether the Democratic presidential candidate’s speechwriter is a cartoonist.

On Tuesday, for the third time in four days, Obama borrowed a lengthy bubble quote from Washington Post cartoonist Tom Toles. He did not acknowledge the origin of the quote the first time he used it and credited the cartoon only after the Post contacted the Obama campaign to ask about the first use.

It is a tragedy that the Democratic party failed to nominate the candidate who is equipped to tackle these problems, and who would have campaigned on the issues, instead of nominating a candidate who campaigned as Mr. Popularity.

I wonder what outcome you guys expected.

Comment by Johnny at Work | 2008-09-11 00:34:06

If Oblahblah really wanted to discuss “Issues”, he could have had the 14 Town Hall Meetings with McCain.

Oblahbah is scared to death to actually debate issues, so all he can do is insult, and pretend it’s the other side that is slinging the mud.

If Oblahblah want to debate issues instead of Pig Lips, why is he the one making Pig Lip Comments?

If Oblahblah wants to stop the discussion abot Pig Lips, why is he the one who keeps the conversation going?

Comment by ming the merciless | 2008-09-11 01:04:58

When it gets down to the issues, the republicans are done for. They’ve got nothing, and they damn well know it.

I’m counting the days until the debates.

By the way, you can put lipstick on Hannity and he’d still be a total idiot. I wouldn’t insult a pig with a comparison.

Oblahblah was for them before he was against them.

Oblahblah and Imbibin have nothing and YOU damn well know it!

Comment by ming the merciless | 2008-09-11 01:28:04

Strategy.

The strategic time to debate was after the conventions and after the vice presidential candidates were known. And closer to Election Day. There will be little time to spin what the viewers see and hear. Everything will be fresh in the viewers’ minds.

Comment by Johnny at Work | 2008-09-11 01:33:49

That strategy was not to overexpose Oblahblah’s stuttering. Maybe you have not seen him in debates. He was a sight to behold at Saddleback.

Howard Fineman, certified Oblahblah cheerleader, has called Oblahblah’s refusal to meet with McCain in Townhalls a “strategic error”.

Comment by ming the merciless | 2008-09-11 01:55:50

Sure, I’ve seen Obama speaking extemporaneously on many occasions. He’s good at it.

Some who watched the Saddleback interviews seem to believe they were watching a debate, rather than a question and answer session. Obama focused on his interviewer throughout, treating the audience as interested spectators. McCain took a different approach, using questions as cues for mini-campaign pitches he addressed to the audience and television cameras. I actually appreciated Obama’s informal presentation rather more than John McCain’s.

The whitey tape exists, and most democratic leaders know it. That was the emminent October suprise Harold Ickes was talking about. It was uncovered by Guliannis opposition research team. They are already crafting a defense. They are going to say Michelle Obama was saying “Why did he” and not “whitey”

Comment by typical.white.person | 2008-09-11 01:38:56

You mean with all of Obama’s relationships with notorious figures, her defense isn’t just a dismissive: “Oh, I was referring to our friend, Whitey Bulger“?

I mean when you have a 20+ year relationship with Ayers and people don’t care, what’s the harm of claiming you’re friends with someone who is wanted for extortion, murder, and money laundering?

It seems like a plausible defense in response to the Whitey tape for Bonnie & Clyde MO & BO.

If it was for punishment or something it couldn’t be defended.

The fact that a taser instructor gave a kid under very controlled circumstances what amount to a small shock might not be great judgement, but it is hardly heinous.

Judge much?

He said that he was a new Taser instructor, and his stepson was asking him about the equipment. “I didn’t shoot him with live, you know, actual live cartridge,” Wooten said.

Instead, he said, he hooked his stepson up to a training aid “with little clips. And, you know, the Taser was activated for less than a second, which would be less than what you would get if you touched an electric fence. … It was as safe as I could possibly make it.”

He said his stepson was on the living room floor surrounded by pillows, that he “was bragging about it,” and that the family laughed about it.

Comment by cocky wacko | 2008-09-11 02:00:19

Palin knew about the taser and other allegations long before her family brought it to the attention of authorities. In fact, her father was present when he illegally shot a moose. She only cared when her sister got into a custody battle with the guy. The charges were looked at and he was punished. She continued to use her power to intervene in the process. That is abuse of power. Does that help?

Comment by ming the mindless | 2008-09-11 02:18:21

Nonsense.

An electric fence charger, like the one I use on horse fencing or in my fruitless attempts to keep racoons out of my sweet corn, delivers 2500 or so volts.

Tasers deliver 50-300KV minimum and up to 900-1000KV on a bad (for the stepson) day.

The public information request was made by an Alaska Republican activist, btw–not by democrats.

BTW, I made an inaccurate statement when I said her husband was a recipient of all of them. I see from an article I just found that he was a carbon copy recipient of only 40 of some 1,100. My mistake. I’d heard the story on the news but hadn’t verified the details.

obama supporters are scared?

i think it’s more that the republican party leadership is scared.

they don’t seem to want you to be talking about your kids’ futures in a world of tax cuts and deficit spending…they don’t seem to want to talk to you about how they will end the waste of lives and money that has accompanied this war…and they most assuredly don’t want to acknowledge that talking about these pigs and madrassas and islam is intended to keep you from talking about issues that affect your wallet.

we went down this road in 2000 and 2004…and to quote ronald reagan: “are you better off now than you were four years ago?”

that’s the biggest thing mccain’s managers don’t want you talking about…and that’s the one thing they are really and truly scared of.

the past eight years have cost you and your children more or less $5 trillion dollars in new national debt…which, like it or not, you and i and your children will be paying for–in the form of taxes–for decades to come.

not to mention the change in the value of our homes and all the new tax obligations that will accompany the fannie mae/freddie mac mess.

and yetwith all that money spent…is america better off now than it was four years ago?

uh, you do know that Democrat controlled Congress took impeachment off the table didn’t you?

uh, you do know McCain has a 100% record for not requesting earmarks don’t you?

uh, you do know that Palin has cut spending and championed reform in Alaska don’t you?

Doesn’t sound like more of the same to me.

You Obama supporters never mention that Obama sat in a racist, American hating church for 20 years or is friends with a terrorist. Funny how you leave that part out. He also has no executive experience and neither does Biden. How is that good for our future? You people are the ones who better wake up.

Comment by fake consultant | 2008-09-11 07:17:08

we do know democratic members of congress took impeachment off the table, and if you take a quick jaunt to dailykos you’ll quickly discover that it was not appreciated.

you need look no farther than the approval ratings of congress to see that lots of democrats are not at all fond of recent congressional performance.

but that said, take an actual look at the issues.

mccain talks about earmarks as a means to balance the budget…but he also says earmarks equal $20 billion annually.

the deficit is going to crack $450 billion this year, and might hit $500 billion.

all federal spending, except for defense, medicare, social security and interest on the debt is about $300 billion.

so even if all other spending were to be cut to zero…you still have a deficit.

on top of that, mccain proposes tax credits for health insurance, further increasing the deficit.

beyond that, he proposes more tax cuts. it is unlikely that reducing the government’s income will reduce the deficit.

all of that suggests that a mccain administration will follow the exact path of continued deficits followed by increased national debt that we have had for the past 8 years.

you may say to me: “obama will tax everyone under $42,000″.

two comments.

first, no he ain’t. as it turns out, it is possible to return the tax rates on the highest income earners to exactly what they were in 1999…and in the process, to pay for tax cuts for most wage earners making under $250,000.

which is obama’s propposal.

secondly, we are, like it or not, going to have to pay off the $5 trillion in new debt we accumulated these past 8 years.

if we do not raise taxes somewhere, somehow…then that burden will be passed to your children and grandchildren.

it appears mccain is finding problems in his own plan and projections. this, from the international herald tribune via yale university:

“…When McCain spoke about his tax plan in April, he cited the faltering economy in saying that it might take two terms to balance the budget, explaining that “economic conditions” are reversed. Since then, he seems to have refined some of his earlier tax cut plans. While his campaign once spoke then of repealing the alternative minimum tax, which is aimed at the wealthy but has increasingly ensnared middle-class taxpayers, his advisers now speak of “phasing out” the plan. And they now say that his proposal to let corporations write off their equipment expenses more quickly would be temporary…”
http://yaleglobal.yale.edu/display.article?id=11088

it seems to me that paying off your debts is the kind of thinking that would seem logical in this conservative community…so if we are not going to pay off the $5 trillion or so in debt we recently have run up with taxes, then how should we pay it off?

that is the kind of question mccain seems unwilling to address; the “outrage of the day” strategy seeming to be more to his preference at the moment.

Here is another post on Democrat.org where they refer to Palin as a pig with lipstick.

EVEN WITH LIPSTICK AND A HAT, IT IS STILL FOUR MORE YEARS OF THE SAME.

And if they think that the American public are so stupid that they will rush over now and kiss their pig of a platform because it is wearing a fresh touch of lipstick, well I think they will be surprised. Economically, the majority of Americans are at the breaking point. Most American families literally cannot stand another four more years of the same.

Also the crowd was chanting, “No more pit bull!” So it is very obvious that they knew exactly what he was saying. They laughed and applauded his vicious and venomous statement. If he didn’t mean it then why did the crowd start up with the pit bull chanting?

Obammunist is having a total meltdown and we get to watch it, serves the bastard right for all the wrong he’s done to Hillary and now Sarah. He’s the pig and that’s putting it mildly!

Oblahblah should take some advice mentioned at RedState:

Remember Kevin Nealon on SNL as “Mr. Subliminal”? The joke was that his so-called subliminal words were not subliminal, but perfectly audible. In other words, he was telling us his subtext and pretending it was subliminal so as to have deniability, as if he never said the subtext out loud.

But we don’t need “Annie Hall” style subtitles to know what Barack’s subtext is. He thinks we’ll get the message, but he can deny the rather obvious hidden meaning. Oh, isn’t he too clever. Yes, too clever by half.

Comment by ford | 2008-09-11 06:08:09

It is good to remember that the first screen shot of text was lifted from Deval Patrick who was one of Axelrod’s first disciples up here in MA…Deval sucks as a governor. It will surprise me if Mac doesn’t do respectably in MA as a result.

The D’s DID NO OPPOSTION RESEARCH on Palin, that is why they are up in Alaska with Shovels right now….

Gee, who’s fault is it that the Dem’s were caught with their pants down??? Yep, this is real change we can believe in…

Comment by ford | 2008-09-11 06:11:09

The Dem’s real problem is the pig dressed up as a woman on their web site, ………That is Palin.

and the fish could be MAC , but it is not uncommon for Ladies of a certain age to remember when women were compared to fish in the past…

That said, I think the Pub’s should drop it for NOW(pun intended) and hit them with a round of ammo tomorrow.

You have to be quick, like obama they will scrub anything embarressing off their web site.

Comment by Above My Pay Grade | 2008-09-11 07:23:12

The blantant plagiarism aspect aside, I think the under discussed issue with Barack (and Deval’s) “just words” appeal is this.:

The great men who spoke or wrote “I have a dream”, “ask not what your contry can do for you, ask what you can do for your country”, “we have nothing to fear, but fear itself”, and “we hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal”, had already backed up those “words” with ACTIONS.

These men all displayed great courage and dedication to country, JFK putting his life on the line as a war hero, MLK working, suffering and putting his life on the line for Civil Rights, FDR battling polio, and Thomas Jefferson and all the signers of the Declaration of Indepedence putting themselves in grave peril of execution to fight for their new country and its revolutionary Democratic ideals.

These great Americans did not offer “just words” and it was a gross insult to their legacy for Deval Patrick and Barack Obama to arrogantly compare their petty, selfish, little lives to lives of these men.

Heard on NPR this morning an Obama fan at a rally saying that up to until now Obama had run a “flwless campaign” but that now “Obama is being swiftboated”. That “the media keeps repeating all this lies and half-trues”.

I have a question: how is Obama swiftboated???

Alternative reality…

“Her greatest hypocrisy is in her pretense that she is a woman.”
Wendy Doniger, professor of the history of religions, University of Chicago’s Divinity School, writes that Sarah Palin is not really a woman.

This professor has to be the idiot of all time. Is this where all the academics go when they can’t get jobs anywhere else? Chicago.

Sick, sick, sick and to think she is trying to educate and enlighten grown children. That must be why the obamabots are so tragic and violent–teachers like Doniger.

Yep, that’s right, because there is a certain time of the month that fertile women tend to smell like fish. Also, women who are sexually active and do not use a condom and do not wash can wind up with a fishy smell. Crude? Yes, and I apologize. But it is true.

Urban Dipshit,

Touché. I stand corrected. LOL, despite my thorough skepticism, I guess I still got caught in the corporate media’s echo chamber of self-evident truths.

See, the way I remember the coverage is that they played the clip of Hillary invoking RFK’s assassination a few times, but as usual there was an avalanche of race-baiting spin by the bots–and the corporate media which was deliberately playing it up.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CB6kAXD4WAA
—Olbermann’s diatribe on the RFK remark. He mentions 3 different invocations of RFK, by Hillary. Two in which she immediately brings up the assassination.

Now, I do agree with that local paper’s characterization that she stumbled into it, however dumbass she did NOT say that “Bill Clinton and RFK were BOTH still in it at this point. Then, acknowledged RFK was killed in CA.”

No douchebag, she immediately brought up the assassination when she cited RFK–in the vid I originally linked and in her March 6th reference to RFK.

W.R.T. this incident, like me, you need to clean out your fucking ears. Indeed, even more so since you claim to have listened to it carefully.

Nice goin’ numnutz.

And just to let you know, Hillary should NOT have brought it up so crassly twice. Why? Because…

1. Politically it was just plain dumb–especially since she “walked into it” not once, but twice.

2. The Kennedy’s have every right to be angry at Hillary for bringing it up like that, including the ones who suppported her.

3. There has been a lot of talk about Obama being assassinated. So much so that…

4. Obama has always retained a personal bodyguard who is NOT a member of the Secret Service. Obama clearly doesn’t trust the Secret Service: His personal bodyguard is black. (Bush-Cheney inexplicably do this too. Although with Bush-Cheney, it obviously has to do with criminal cover-ups of whatever they’re always up to. Mind you, the Starr investigation hauled in a few Secret Service agents to testify against Clinton. They were deemed by the then rightwing Supreme Court as law enforcement officers and hence were not immune from having to testify.)

WORM time once again.

Pig isa synonymous with pork. Wasteful.
John McCain will be the 109th Congress on steroids.

Fishes rot from the head down.
This is a stick at McCain’s own judgement(Keating, etc.) so it evidences the fact that the walk don’t match the talk.

Too bad Obama doesn’t clarify his own statements when he makes them to avoid controversy. Maybe his teleprompter broke, he should have just ridiculed Miranda rights for all persons, like what the Constitution states.

You know, the Constitution, that document Bush wiped his ass all over the past eight years?

Comment by beebop | 2008-09-11 13:19:40

from the friendly Chicago newspaper:

But none of that, none of that, can explain why the words came stammering out of Obama’s mouth the other day.

What was he thinking?

For starters, the Democratic nominee — for all his many positive attributes — is not “just plain folks,” as was only highlighted by his awkward delivery of the intended putdown, and therefore should not pretend to be.

But, more important, Obama knew as well as anyone listening to him that Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has the market cornered on lipstick for this campaign season, even if she puts hers on a pit bull.

By invoking lipstick, Obama invoked Palin. Despite his protestations later, he knew it, or certainly should have known it.

And even though the line got Obama a big laugh from the partisan crowd, which clearly drew the connection, he blew it.

Maybe Obama or his advisers thought he had cover because they knew McCain had used the line in relation to Clinton. If so, they were wrong.

Obama is the one with the image problem, unfairly or not, concerning his dealings with women — the nettlesome aftereffect of his Democratic primary battle with Clinton.

Why are douche and other feminine products advertised on TV? I ask that question all the time Larry.
As for the douche, at least in the last 2 years of primaries and general election now, to remind us Obama is a douche bag with little respect for women….I truly suspect with little respect for anyone but himself. Biden appears to be the same type of person with little respect for women!

The sexist stuff really blows…and what is wrong with the feminists and feminist groups out there that can’t get past someone’s personal beliefs to stick up for them. Since when did anything feminist have anything to do with party affiliation…..I really thought it had to do with Women’s Rights as a whole!

Take me away Calgon!!!!

I’m really, REALLY getting SICK and TIRED of people who look for sexist hidden meanings in every single word that comes out of Obama’s mouth. It’s drummed up, faux outrage, it makes you look petty and weak, and it is an F’ING DISTRACTION from the very real and serious issues facing this country. Do you realize the Russians just sent two bombers to Venezuela for military maneuvers, in retaliation for our sending warship to Georgia? We’re inching towards WWIII and all you can talk about is how you think Obama called someone a name. So please, do us all a favor and CUT THE CRAP.
—————————————————–Excuse me and I am sick of the racial distractions from the Obama campaign that have been going on since the primaries. His campaign creates more distractions than anyone, but blame everyone else. Why would he do that? Because Obama can’t discuss issues and plans. He has none.
