Plagiarism Alert: Did Obama Steal His Lines from The Washington Post?

Just a short while ago, in live comments aired on CNN, Barack Obama had the audacity to say that his lipstick-on-a-pig line was an “innocent remark.”
Excuse me? “Innocent”? Firstly, it was clear from your own crowd’s reaction (gasps followed by applause) that they believed you were referring to Sarah Palin. Secondly, you may think that most of us are bitter, gun-clinging, Bible-totting “white trash,” but we’re not dumb enough to buy that you didn’t mean exactly what you said, Barack. Your remark was a direct response to Sarah Palin’s now forever-famous and -beloved ad lib about hockey moms in her RNC acceptance speech. And, you elitist, by calling Sarah Palin and John McCain “pigs,” you’re reinforcing the stereotype adopted by the D.C. elitists that anybody for McCain/Palin has to be “white trash.”
NOW look at what reporter Warner Todd Huston at Newsbusters.org discovered (via Memeorandum.com):
It is looking like Obama’s comments were not off the cuff, but scripted. And, not only were they scripted, but they were stolen without attribution from a Washington Post political cartoon by Tom Toles from September 5. Will the media notice?
I’m going to “cut to the chase” and show you the results of reporter Huston’s painstaking findings. I’ve cropped the cartoon to show the relevant part, and placed Obama’s actual transcript right beside it:

Here’s the BARACK OBAMA transcript of his lines before he says, “you know, you can’t, you know, you you can put, ah, lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig.” [sic]

In other words, Newsbusters’s Huston has proven that Obama’s preceding remarks, leading up to the insensitive “pig” line, are almost word for word from the Tom Toles cartoon from September 5.

Amen. I was outraged when Caroline took to the campaign trail for BHO. What the hell has she EVER done for this country? She has had no presence in public life. Her cousin RFK Jr has worked hard and produced results on environmental issues like cleaning up the Hudson River—he supported Hillary and got virtually no attention. To trade on her name like that, and encourage people to think that her dead father would have been in BHO’s corner, I found reprehensible. JFK, like John McCain, was a war hero. His take on foreign affairs was similar to McCain’s. He hated Adlai Stevenson, and BHO is today’s equivalent, without the brains.
Your comment reminds me that my husband and I were just talking about RFK, Jr. last night. We saw him speak in KY last year. We were blown away. My husband said if only we could have him run, but I thought if he did get into national politics, the Dem hacks would blackball him just as they have Hillary and Bill, even though he’s a Kennedy. Ted Kennedy has a great deal to answer for. If he really believes in heaven and hell, he must be quaking in his boots (er, his $500 wingtips).

I liked the transcript that Newsbusters put up because it showed all of the hesitations as he tries to put a sentence together. He is NOT a good speaker.
He’s also a lousy debater. He can’t pack a string of thoughts together in a concise timeframe — unlike Hillary, who is one of the very, very best at packing in a lot of information and ideas in a short answer.
McCain should be able to top him in the debates, I’m guessing.
Even more so now because Obama is obviously getting very, very nervous about the election — and when he gets nervous, he gets obviously defensive, unsure of himself, and makes bad, bad slips.

Regardless of whether or not it was an innocent slip of the tongue and not intentionally directed at Palin, it was an incredibly bad choice of words. As such, it will be fair game for the GOP attack ads. One has already come out. The Dems pounced all over McCain’s comment about not knowing how many houses he owns. I actually have given him the benefit of the doubt with his latest gaffe. I do not think he intentionally meant it as an insult to her; but the crowd took it that way and he knew it, and he ran with it.

I think that the lipstick comment was more of a Freudian slip than an intentional comment because even BO isn’t THAT stupid. However, it did have the audience effect that was mentioned which means that is how they took it. All I have to say to Mr. O is:

Palin was born in Idaho and move to Alaska when she was 6 MONTHS OLD…I watched the documentary about her. She went to public school in Alaska.
She went to 6 different colleges, starting out in Hawaii, ending up with her degree from Idaho, then she moved home.
You are not considered a resident in most states while you attend college there. So Palin is a resident since she was 4 months old, of Alaska.

Fox just showed the NEW McCain ad - about obama dumping 30 lawyers into Alaska to dig up dirt and DESTROY Sarah Palin.
The ad shows a pack of wolves (obama lawyers) prowling in the woods - powerful - and especially powerful if you remember the old republican prowling wolves ads (I hope I’m remembering this right) where the wolves were supposed to represent the threat of terrorism and how America couldn’t trust the democrats to protect her.
