Also, they had food and beverages of all kinds in every office all day long. And they did it with glee too. The people in her offices were so warm and friendly. One guy dropped in for stickers and signs on his way to a rally. He was a biker and a hell of big Clinton fan and really friendly guy. We stuck them all over him, his helmet, his bike, his back pack and windshield. He was a billboard for Hillary and was this tattooed tough guy with a big ol' warm heart. Obama's focus seems to be on defensively targeting Palin. He apparently sees her as a more formidable obstacle than McCain to his Presidential aspirations. However, he is making tactical mistakes that are backfiring. No doubt the lipstick on a pig comment has just lost him a lot of female (and male) voters. If any pro-Hillary supporters were still on the fence about who to vote for, my guess is they are leaving the Obama camp in droves. Unfortunately, it looks like the voters are being short-changed by media focus on dirty politics and a diminishing focus on the stands of the candidates on important issues. I think we are being distracted by increasing amounts of crap being hurled by both sides as we attempt to wade through the swamp to the voting booth. I don't think things are going to get "prettier" in the days ahead. The political advisers for the campaigns seem to think that what gets the public's attention is not discussions of boring issues like the economy, health care, foreign affairs and Iraq, but who is making the dirtiest, most offensive comments and attacks. They think the public is stupid and has the mentality that makes so many people be willing to pay high prices to watch a boxing match or a wrestling match or a football game. They revel in seeing their favorite contender deliver a bloody beating to the opposition. And the media knows this sells papers and and brings television viewers. So pull up a chair, get a beer and prepare to watch a bloody messy fight in the days ahead. You will have no problem finding a TV station that will cover it.
