Obama Campaign: “A Pathetic Attempt to Play the Gender Card”
By Charles Lemos on September 11, 2008 at 2:00 PM in Barack Obama, McCain/Palin 2008, Obama's Neuroses, Sarah Palin
Ah, the arrogance and hubris of the messiah from Honolulu truly is a wonder to behold. He could apologize but he won’t. Instead he will have that McCain ad running and running.
Obama’s charge might be true if it were true that only the McCain campaign is outraged or if they were the first to be outraged. Neither are true. The outrage goes far beyond the McCain campaign and it started long before the McCain camp put out an ad on the subject.
How out of touch can one be?
From the Los Angeles Times:
The emergence of Sarah Palin as a political force in the presidential race has left many top Democrats fretting that, just two weeks after their convention ended on an emotional high, Barack Obama’s campaign has suddenly lost its stride.
Obama has responded aggressively this week to Palin’s presence on the Republican ticket, using TV ads and campaign rallies to attack her contention that she is a political reformer who will take on the Washington establishment — a role Obama has long claimed as his alone.
But some Democrats are now worried about the perils of Obama’s strategy, saying that his campaign, instead of engaging the Alaska governor, should avoid any move that draws more attention to her and could enhance her appeal among the white, blue-collar voters who remain cool to Obama’s candidacy.
A series of new polls suggests that Palin has given a major boost to John McCain’s campaign, exciting the GOP base, winning over white women and all but erasing Obama’s lead.
Concern among Democrats was high enough Tuesday that Sen. Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.), one of Obama’s strongest supporters, felt it necessary to cite historical polling data at a lunch of Democratic senators to convince them that post-convention “bounces,” such as the one that has followed last week’s GOP convention, have often faded in past elections.
To reassure nervous lawmakers, Durbin also reviewed Democratic registration gains this year in key battleground states.
Still, Democrats expressed anxiety about the new challenge suggested by recent surveys showing McCain has gained ground among independent voters and women, who could decide the race in states such as Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll released Tuesday, for instance, shows that McCain is now winning among white women 52% to 41% after having been statistically tied with Obama in that crucial category just a month ago.
“Whenever you see that kind of movement, you ought to be concerned; you ought to try to address it,” said Rep. Elijah E. Cummings (D-Md.), a strong Obama backer.
David Bonior, the former Michigan congressman who managed Democrat John Edwards’ unsuccessful presidential bid, called the new poll findings a “real concern,” adding: “We can’t lose white women and expect to do well in this race.”
One Democratic operative familiar with the campaign’s deliberations worried that the “freshness, newness and aura around Barack has been eclipsed. The campaign has been knocked off stride.”
Another explained that Democrats expected Palin to “have the opposite effect” and drag McCain down, adding: “Whenever there is conventional wisdom in Washington and it’s wrong, that shakes people up.”
The two Democrats, like others interviewed for this story, requested anonymity in order to speak about internal campaign strategy. Obama over the last two days has begun vigorously attacking Palin for decisions she made as governor and has tried to tarnish her image as a political maverick and reformer, highlighting, for example, her initial support for the “bridge to nowhere.”
One new TV ad released this week accuses Palin of lying in claiming to have killed the $398-million link between Ketchikan and its island airport. McCain has ridiculed the project as an egregious example of the kind of pork-barrel spending he has long fought.
Palin has made her opposition to the federally funded bridge a staple of her stump speech, even though she defended it in her 2006 campaign and did not kill it until it was clear that Congress would not pay for it. Also, Obama and his aides have started using increasingly aggressive language in recent days to denounce Palin’s and McCain’s attempts to cast themselves as harbingers of change.
The typically even-keeled Obama on Tuesday night invoked an old cliche and accused Republicans of trying to put “lipstick on a pig” in their adoption of the change mantra, noting that not long ago McCain had tried to present himself as the candidate of experience.
Republicans seized on the comment and tried to portray it as a sexist allusion to Palin, who in her convention speech said that the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull was lipstick.
Obama aides waved off the attacks as a “pathetic attempt to play the gender card.” It was not clear late Tuesday whether the lipstick spat would garner much attention, but the exchange demonstrated the challenges facing Obama as the McCain camp tries to squeeze every possible advantage out of the Palin candidacy. Some Democrats are eager for Obama to be even harder on Palin.
Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, said that independent voters’ enthusiasm for Palin will fade when her conservative record is better known. “They need to get that information out, and they need to get it out quickly,” he said.
But others say that Obama will only help the GOP by attacking Palin and that he should try to relegate her to the campaign’s margins, where his own running mate, Joe Biden, now seems to be residing.
Moreover, some said, attacking a charismatic woman too harshly could backfire. They worry that it would play directly into the Republican strategy of courting female voters and portraying Palin as a middle-class mom under fire from the left and the establishment media. At the same time, they fear it could cloud Obama’s carefully honed image as a post-partisan politician.
“The Obama campaign should stick to their message and not overreact to Palin,” said one Democratic strategist, adding that accusing Palin of being a liar is “a long way from their core brand and shows that they haven’t found the answer of how to deal with her.”
Democratic consultant Eric Jaye, who works with candidates in Michigan, a working-class state that Republicans believe is now more in play because of Palin, said that the Obama campaign needs to be “very careful not to turn Sarah Palin into a working-class heroine.”
Obama aides said this week that the campaign’s position remains strong in key battleground states and that its formidable get-out-the-vote operation will carry it to victory despite the Palin buzz.
Campaign manager David Plouffe dismissed Palin’s potency so far, saying she had been relying on scripted speeches and was doing little more than energizing the GOP’s core conservative base.
“The question is: Over time, day after day, week after week in these last eight weeks, you know, how does that take hold with the swing voters, and what does that really mean to their field operation?” Plouffe said. “And, you know, do they have the architecture and the infrastructure to really take advantage of it?”
From my blog, By The Fault.

Well you see, he ought to know Pathetic when it comes to playing Cards. He used the Race Card to get this far and keep everyone from vetting him. So you have to excuse him. He thinks others are scum just like he is.
But I appreciate this dumb remark he made. It helps the polls even more. But not his polls.
Ohitler and Axelgoebbles deck is out of cards.
NATIONAL BOYCOTT DAY SCHEDULED FOR: SEPTEMBER 19
Our mission is to get Hollywood’s attention that it’s ok to pick your party but it’s not ok to insult your consumers by continuously making these wild accusations. Hollywood hates the National Enquirer but the statements and comments they’ve been making these days are absurd.
So boycott Hollywood for the entire day of 9/19 (until 11/4 would be even better):
Boycott all TV stations EXCEPT for FOX.
Do not attend go out to the movies
Do not purchase any newspapers or magazines EXCEPT for the New York Post
Do not rent or buy any movies ect………
Do not buy any music especially boycott Madonna, P-Diddy, Heart, etc………..
Boycott anything you feel is connected with these crazy Hollywood Pundit want to be’s.
Is there anything we can do to get Hollywood’s attention that it’s ok to pick your party but it’s not ok to insult your consumers by continuously making these wild accusations? The list goes on and on.
I’ve circled my calendar and count me in. I’ll even leave the TV on with FOX while I go to work! I’ll even cancel my Netflix subscription for awhile.
Yes, I like this one. I love boycotts, especially when hollywood is involved. Lately their political pandering has been giving me a headache.
I watch Discovery and History. I enjoy BBC and FOX
I won’t miss the Hollyweed Crazies one bit. LOL
Not to mention it will save me about 300 bucks over the next 2 months.
Denise:
Count me in for National Boycott Day: Sept 19 through Nov 4! It is my pleasure!
The race card is all he knew. As far as the bridge to nowhere, even if she did the welding on it to help build it, that bridge to nowhere would be preferrable to a president to nowhere (except trouble)like Obama.
The house of cards Obama built will fall.
O/T
What do you all make of this statement Hillary supposedly made in FL while stumping for Obama?
“Who are you for? That is the wrong question. It should be who is for you?” HRC
My reply would have been “I am for me first and foremost and America next”. I already served my country but now that I am older I expect my country to protect what I helped protect and not give it over without a shot being fired to some leftist, socialist/communist, nationalist, or whatever the hell Obama and his mob are. Clinton is for Clinton and Obama is for Obama — I served for the America I knew and not for a party.
I see, so you don’t even know what Obama is, but whatever he is, you’re against it. Sounds to me like you’re a Republican.
What the SFU!
Oh, the old you’re a republican insult.
What about Obama changing the electoral map? Can’t even change Georgia even with a large AA population! Keep hope alive.
“Obama Implodes In Georgia; McCain Leads 56% To 38%
(9/11/08) A new InsiderAdvantage / Poll Position survey of likely registered voters in Georgia indicates a steep decline for the Barack Obama campaign and likely explains why the candidate is moving resources out of Georgia and into other states.”
Stop the hate!
what Obama is; oooh ooh I know, I know!!
Immoral and indifferent.
Don’t forget that both Biden and BO voted FOR that bridge.
and don’t forget both Obama and Biden LIE about their own families!
Biden has been LYING about how his wife and children were killed!http://www.delawareonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080904/NEWS02/809040379&template=printart
Obama LIED about the Kennedys bringing his father to America!http://www.talkleft.com/story/2008/3/30/13655/6958
A quick google search reveals the facts - and the Kennedys also went along with the LIE.
This is a reflection of their CHARACTER!
Since they LIE about their own families, no telling what they’d do in the White House.
damn i couldn’t get through the la times bit, as i gag whenever i read obamamedia.
i don’t need to read any more excuses and lies about obamas disgusting pig comment. no, it wasn’t about policy. yes, it was aimed at palin.
no more bs about that, please.
obama is a bottom feeder, pure and simple. he didn’t just insult white women as i’m sure the poll nitwits will soon see.
Even if he did just insult women–then essentially he insulted not only your wife (if you are a man) but your mother and your sister. Obama insulted all the American people with that inferrence to pigs. But just think about who he was was playing and speaking to–his money base. That is one of the most anti semitic remarks anyone can make. The world of Islam is more than aware of what the inferrence to swine is about.
LOL. So, all the times that McCain has made the exact same lipstick on a pig comment, he was insulting all Americans, especially the Jews? That’s pretty funny — first I’ve heard that one.
Muslims have the same taboo against pigs.
So, for a Muslim to call someone a pig, it’s as bad as damning them, it’s amongst the lowest of insults a Muslim can make of someone.
Actually it isn’t helping with the polls at all, Uppity. The Palin bounce is fading, the tracking polls are closing again, they’re tied in Rasmussen, Gallup is down to McCain +4 and that will get smaller too, and Obama is still leading in the electoral college.
And Palin’s numbers will keep dropping too. I’m sure all you feminist PUMAs who are soooo offended by Obama’s sexist language will be EXTREMELY upset to learn about Palin’s Wasilla making rape victims pay for their own rape kits:
http://www.bostonherald.com/news/national/politics/2008/view.bg?articleid=1118416
Comments, ladies? How utterly disgusting and repellent this woman is. Evangelical madness at its most ugly and extreme.
Debunked. See http://townhall.com/columnists/AmandaCarpenter/2008/09/11/the_palin_rape_kit_myth
Where does this article debunk anything? While Palin was mayor of Wasilla, it was the only town in Alaska that made rape victims pay for their own medical exams. The state finally had to pass a state-wide law to force Wasilla to stop. There’s nothing in that article which contradicts those basic facts. Sorry. I’m sure that women all over America will be thrilled to learn this, not to mention being reminded that Palin doesn’t believe rape victims who get pregnant have a right to an abortion.
Why do o supporters like Sf spread so many lies??
You know, Sf, I have yet to read anything form you that is positive. As a matter of fact, I have not even read a post written by you that gives me a reason to vote for Obama.
Obama creates hyperbole and then steals Clinton’s silly season line. His game is up, and you are a spreader of half truths and outright lies on behalf of that man.
I have no respect for him, and supporters like you are an echo of Obama’s own shortcomings.
I’m not interested in offering reasons for you to vote for Obama; I know that you won’t. If you had any shred of reason, you would understand already that there is a progressive Democratic candidate in this race and a Republican who wants to continue Bush’s policies for another eight years. If those facts aren’t enough for you, you’re a lost cause.
What the SFu!
You’re a failed policy that I’d vote against anyday.
Stop the hate!
There you go. You are only here to annoy. Or perhaps you are a masochist as people here are happy to spank you.
There are two progressive presidential candidates in this race. One is named McKinney and the other is named Nader.
Saying Obama is progressive is like saying a cardboard cutout of a person is that person. He is the Potemkin village of presidential candidates.
By the way, you might be interested in checking out the joint press conference that was held at the National Press Club on September 10 by Paul, Nader, McKinney, and Barr, where they all spoke on how both major parties are shredding the constitution and delivering Americans into the hands of the very elites that the founding fathers fought against.
Come on, SFHillary.
The Obama people asked us to leave the party (directly, or through threats, intimidation, physical assault, and endless character assassination). This was made very clear to every PUMA.
So we took the hint left the party.
Why, then, do you come here and verbally abuse us?
Physical assault? Please provide evidence of that; otherwise it’s slander. I can’t imagine why you would think “the Obama people” would want Democrats to leave the party; I can’t imagine what motivation you think they/we would have. But I think that his trusting (and, honestly, needing) the Clintons enough to turn over two nights of his convention to them was a pretty strong gesture toward Hillary’s real supporters, and Bill and Hillary responded with two great speeches, and their supporters responded by giving Obama a “base” boost, just as the Palin pick gave McCain a “base” boost over the past week.
So we’re back where we started: tight race, slight Obama lead, and you PUMAs are still nuts.
I come here for two reasons: to make fun of crazy people like you (who apparently believe you are so important that the Obama campaign itself is out to intimidate and threaten you into leaving the Democratic Party — do you get those intimidating messages via radio waves in your molar fillings?), and to remind lurkers who read this site but don’t post that Obama is the progressive Democrat in this race, and McCain the hardcore right-wing Republican. And that the choice each of us makes will help determine the future of the country.
What the SFu
You funny man! Oh, my goodness! You frontin right! We have a choice in our future and I choose not the one you choose. Don’t worry you may become enlightened at some point. Otherwise, keep truckin”.
Stop the hate!
I can’t imagine why you would think “the Obama people” would want Democrats to leave the party;
There it is for every one to see. A failure of imagination.
This is just ridicuous! Obama was just so “kind” to “allow” Hillary and Bill to speak. You are out of your mind. You sound just like the socialists you are now following. The DNC was not a political convention at all, it was a show–all the little comarades did their goose steps, and Comrade Hillary and Comrade Bill did what they had to do so as not to be sent to Siberia.
Grow up!
Watch as McCain and Palin’s ratings continue to inch up while Obaby’s fall more and more.
Well, yes, I do have a MAJOR comment… I have had many stalkers in my life and I did NOT do anything to encourage these stalkers that have affected my life to this day! I am a VICTIM!!! AND, I was expected to purchase my own electronic equipment to prove that I was infact being stalked! I am NOT complaining, I totally understand and do NOT expect authorities or anyone for that matter to pay for my expenses!!!!
I hope my story will help other victims of crimes!
sfhillary..You’re like a bad penny. Thank God you will fade into the abyss of history when your phoney messiah goes down in Nov. Oh, he will, we Core Dems will make sure of that! We are getting sick and tired of you and your rabid OBOT comments.
Obama gets 90% of Democratic votes today. McCain gets 90% of Republican votes. Kerry got 89% of Democratic votes in 2004; Bush got around 90% of GOP votes.
Where does this leave you “Core Dems” who will supposedly determine something? Nowhere, that’s where. Your numbers are miniscule and you simply do not matter. Sorry.
Where did you see that 90% of the dem vote for 0bama? which poll? and even if that’s true. The dem and rep only account for 65% of the voting public, and 35% indy who are now trending towards Mccain.
Also, don’t you have something better to do than come here calling people names and make youself look like a Jackass? I am sure a rich white middle age male liberal like yourself don’t want to be a racist person by calling some of us minority on this site with racist remarks, or it’s part of your nature?
“Lady” is an euphemism. Yes, you are sexist.
Lost its stride? More like this is what happens when your campaign is built on a heaping steaming pile of dog shit named Ohitler.
Obama has no idea the appeal Palin has across the US. (Hint: She’s not a snot.)
Did anyone catch CNN last night covering Gov. Palin’s arrival at Fairbanks?
She is a natural. Amazing.
I saw the lead up to it that Greta did, but not her actual arrival.
Isn’t the Charlie Gibson interview tonight?
CNN was the only cable news station to carry it live. Palin’s plane was late, Greta’s show was over by then and Fox had gone to tape.
Thanks for the Charlie Gibson interview reminder– I’ll check it out.
Well, she’s a natural Republican, alright. But appealing to mainstream Americans? Questionable:
Rasmussen, 9/9/08 (from registration-restricted crosstabs, likely voters):
Among all voters:
39% very favorable
17% somewhat favorable
14% somewhat unfavorable
26% very unfavorable
Gee, approval ratings are just a few points off of 60% for the “wildly popular governor.” But, let’s look a little closer at those numbers. Conservatives love her, but what about moderates? Those numbers paint a different picture:
20% very favorable
15% somewhat favorable
26% somewhat unfavorable
35% very unfavorable
3% not sure
Only 35% of moderates view her favorably. In other words, among this key block of voters, Pinocchio Palin is doing about as well as President Bush. For comparison purposes, Joe Biden is viewed favorably by 70% of moderates.
No silly! Gov. Palin is a natural at connecting with people. She’s very good.
Oh, and by the way, Obama should’ve picked Hillary.
You think Hillary would have taken it? I don’t. You think Bill would have allowed the campaign to pick apart his Clinton Global Initiative’s finances? I don’t. She wasn’t a plausible choice.
Looks like the Huffypotters got the message.
Currently only two photos of Palin on their home page.
Lately they have had five or six attractive photos of Palin linked to nasty snarky articles about her.
Not so bright those Huffypotters.
They also deride Palin for lack of experience without a trace of self-aware irony about their own annointed one.
yeah… check this out. they’re scared!
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/adam-mckay/were-gonna-frickin-lose-t_b_124772.html
I guess when all fails its the media’s fault. They don’t see that there will be millions of Democrats who will not vote for Obama because we would not trust him with our dog for a day not to mention with our kids.
You are right! I would be running like crazy!!
Campaign manager David Plouffe dismissed Palin’s potency so far, saying she had been relying on scripted speeches
Sounds like he’s talking about O-bozo. They keep on underestimating Palin and it’s only going to be their undoing.
My, how things have changed:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/election_2008/electoral_count.html
Poor Barky.
YIKES! Could be another nail-biter on election night.
Obama’s double digit lead in PA has disappeared.
I thought Scranton’s native son Joe Biden was supposed to help in NE PA? Maybe not, he doesn’t have much in common with the bitter gun clingers who live out there.
Bob Casey went all over the state stumping for Obama. Hillary won handily. Now Joe Biden reclaims his Scranton roots, 55 years after the fact, and Obama’s lead is circling the drain.
At this point there may not even be enough dead Philly voters to help him out.
plus in PA Obama failed to attend the ceremony in honor of the 9/11 heroes who died there.
I can’t believe that oversight is going to play well in Scranton.
You have got to be kidding me. I heard McCain was there and spoke. The radio newsette stressed that McCain spoke to a crowd of a few hundred….perhaps trying to diminish the importance, or to try to make McCain seem unpopular?
But the pic at the top of this post is the perfect embodiment of Obama–the inclined head with the contemptuous smirk…..and people like this guy?
Has he always been so painfully thin? The guy looks like a bobblehead.
That’s cocaine. Why do you think Kate Moss uses it?
Gleep I have wondered about those purple lips, maybe a sign of illness, but heavy drug use does that to you too.
Out of the toss-ups, I’m pretty sure CO (where I live) and NM (I’ve visited there a lot) will go for McCain. I’ve also seen Ohioans and Indiana residents call their states for McCain. I don’t think it is as close as it looks. I’ll have to wait for election night to see if my thoughts have been accurate.
The key is the tossup states. I’ll take a break from insulting you PUMAs and take you seriously for a moment. Let’s look at these states:
CO (9) Very close. Obama is surging in the Mountain States. I think he’ll win this, but it is really a tossup, a true battleground state.
IN (11) Probably will go McCain.
MI (17) Michigan is close now, but will almost certainly go Obama. The demographics there are really not favorable to a Republican in 2008.
NH (4) A lock for Obama. No New England state will vote for McCain this year. Not a single one.
NM (5) Tossup. No idea.
NV (5) Probable McCain, I think. Might be pretty close.
OH (20) Obama is leading this time around. Along with Colorado, will decide the election.
PA (21) Quite likely Obama.
VA (13) Have to consider it probable McCain, but an Obama surge through black and young turnout is not at all out of the question.
So where does that leave us?
Probable McCain: 29 electoral votes.
Probable Obama: 41 electoral votes.
Ohio, New Mexico and Colorado decide the election in this scenario. The way the mountain West is trending — i.e., smarter, hipper, richer, more libertarian and less evangelical — bodes very well for Obama in CO and NM. As for Ohio, Quinnipac has Obama up 5 today, just days after the GOP convention. That is a very bad number for McCain.
Bottom line, it’s a close election but the electoral map favors Obama, big-time. McCain is running such a relentlessly negative campaign because he knows he has no other chance to win.
I mean, really: you think he actually believes Obama is a child molester? I know you PUMAs do, but you are insane. McCain is just a politician who has sold out his principles for a shot at the White House. After November 4th, he’ll be a sad and pathetic man who sold out his principles and self-respect and principles and lost anyway.
the important thing is who has the momentum
I agree. Definitely in McCain’s favor right now. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a hiccup for Obama between now and election day, but overall he’s on a downhill trajectory.
But besides momentum, it’s the general state of the respective campaigns. Obama’s is in disarray. He and his surrogates are making public statements that only further alienate important voting blocs. Obama has had to grovel at Clinton’s feet when only months ago he was arrogantly dismissing the former POTUS. McCain’s campaign is picking up momentum, and the added energy that Palin has added to his team is giving them the stamina and will to beat back the attacks on the Alaska governor. And America likes her. The loony left may have the bullhorn right now but they don’t have the hearts of the American people.
Rev. Wright - Can you fix my garlic nose?
You are so right!
Gov. Blagojevich of IL says Dems are wrong to attack Palin’s gubernatorial experience. (I don’t like him, but that doesn’t mean I can’t agree with him on some things.)
http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2008/09/palin_experience_defended_by_i.html
I also don’t think this would be an issue as much if Palin was a male.
He’s trying to save their asses…..the more they talk about her supposed “inexperience” the more she can educate people about the AK national guard, and her work on that pipeline deal with Canada. The more people hear that, the more they are then going to turn to Obama/Biden and notice that neither has done as much as she has.
speaking of blagojevich, shouldn’t he be under indictment by now? Hmmm Mr. Fitzgerald? What the hell are you doing Fitzgerald? Extended holiday?
They’ll talk about on Sunday too and maybe they’ll have a nice montage of denials and then admittance that “Palin is the lipstick” in Letterman last night. But he lied again in Letterman and people know he was referencing to Palin as a pig and McCain as an old fish and Sunday, the polls will dip a little more. Hallelujah!
Reading what the pathetic O’bot operatives are saying, reminds me of a saying that involves “whistling and graveyards”
Just because Letterman chuckled and his little fans too, it doesn’t make sexism funny. Drop it Bozo!
meanwhile, at the NYT Gail Collins has a tin ear for irony in her piece “Misery loves Democrats”
http://edgeoforever.wordpress.com/2008/09/11/gail-collins-explains-it-all-predictions-and-bias/
Actually Collins gets the irony totally. She spells it out for anyone who wants to get it. Notice she doesn’t criticize McCain in that? Collins also said Hillary shouldn’t take the veep spot if offered to her, because “it’s such a girl job.” Collins gets it - she’s the anti-Maureen Down.
Collins saw Obama’s number months ago. She actually showed up in person to witness a Washington caucus up close and wrote a column about it.
Isn’t it fascinating that Obama can pretend he didn’t intend to make the “double entendre”, and that so many liberals seem to be deceived. (One thing that I have still not been able to understand is why allegedly well-educated, up-scale voters supported Obama in the first place. As several others have reminded me on various blogs, well-educated folks are the ones most easily deceived.)
Why? These well educated folks place their trust on personalities rather than looking at the material.
They don’t like to read the instructions and they don’t like to assemble anything. Boooooring. They like to buy stuff already put together, snap it open and go.
And other things like that. That’s why they by necessity always need to buy a brand new car as soon as the warranty is over. And a little dink on the door ruins the whole car. Must be fixed. And by extension they fall VICTIM to ‘charisma.’
Obama = Charisma + Pathological lying. A magnetic combination.
That is why Obama appearing with Bill Clinton is so powerful in video. Both of these men, but specially Bill Clinton is extremely charismatic. Obama will revitalize his charisma by standing side by side with him.
That happens to with McCain. Palin is extremely charismatic too. But honesty also is most attractive. So that McCain/Palin charismatic honesty beats Obama/Bill Clinton charismatic dishonesty. Although a lot of people being dishonest themselves, like charismatic dishonesty.
Sure but I don’t know about anyone else but when I see Bill with Barry, all I keep thinking about is Bill’s candidate X and Y scenerio???
My theory: these well-educated folks, a certain subset, are very trusting because they’ve glided through life and all institutions have served them well. They trust cops, universities, corporations, the MSM, Starbucks, they even trust marketing.
They valued education, they reason, and studied, and so were able to get a good job and keep it for 30 years. These liberal elites have very few black friends and rarely interact with black people. Obama relieves them of their white guilt. My mom said, she is relieved that Obama is intelligent. It pains me to say this but she said it. She is in her early 70’s.
We who have black friends and interact with black people regularly, we who are not squeamish talking about race or racism, are not impressed by Obama. We know black people who are much more intelligent and courageous and articulate than Obama.
Everything he said in his Philadelphia speech we’ve thought of many times - but to these liberal elites it was the first time they could relax enough to ever consider such complex thoughts on race. His swipes at typical white granny, at Geraldine Ferraro (The One gave Ferraro no benefit of the doubt, he also never mentioned that she was a historic political figure) were invisible to these highly educated insular set, but glaring to us.
People who don’t like Obama tend to question more - we view the world with a healthy dose of paranoia.
Cool
Indy -
The current RCP map is misleading. They show WA as solid blue when stats show leaning. They show a couple of solid red as leaning. They just can’t admit the truth! We don’t want the O
Well, it’s been that way all along. I’ve thought for months that BOs numbers are better than what he will get. As I say above, my projection is that it won’t be all that close on election night.
After someone at a rally said he was glad Barack Obama hadn’t picked Hillary Clinton as his running mate, Joe Biden responded:
“Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States. She is qualified to be president of the United States of America. She is easily qualified to be vice president of the United States of America, and quite frankly, might’ve been a better pick than me.”
Well, we KNOW that … and that’s nice … and I’m sure Joe Biden is being honest about it … BUT if the Obama campaign managers think having Joe Biden say something nice about Hillary is going to win back the Hillary supporters, they have another think coming.
Obama thought he could insult Hillary supporters and especially white women (I am excluding black women here, since black women are part of the 94% of blacks who are supporting Obama), but he’s finding out that women know exactly how they are being spoken to and spoken about — they know disrespect and insults when they see them and are the recipients of both.
Every insult hurled at Hillary was felt by older white women as well, and every time an Obamazoid called Hillary a “witch,” a “bitch,” a “whore,” or a “cunt,” they called all older white women the same.
Every white woman who saw the Hillary nutcrackers being sold at gift shops all over the country and on the Internet, knew that insult was aimed at them too.
And Obama never asked his campaign crew or his supporters to STOP the insults and name-calling directed at Hillary … never.
Now, it seems Obama’s SCORN toward working class people, especially the ones from small towns, is meeting up with payback too.
Payback’s a bitch, eh, Barky?
A candidate cannot just go around for a year insulting people and then expect to get their votes.
That Howard Dean and Donna Brazile thought they could steal the nomination from Hillary and hand it to Obama without encountering payback just shows how out of touch with reality they both are — and that goes for Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid as well, along with the whole bloomin’ Democratic Party leadership.
It’s early yet, and Obama could still win the election, but if he loses, he has NO one to blame except himself. This was supposed to be an easy year for Democrats to win, but Obama’s arrogance and conceit are his own worst enemies.
AMEN
You are off base, there are many black women who support Hillary Clinton. We do not want her to save Obama either. Hillary should be at the top of the ticket.
Thank goddess we have folks like you screaning the articles for us, because I would have never fallen on this LA Times piece.
Thanks.
The next card he’s going to play is the ‘mentally unstable’ card that females have been hearing for eons(someone, some ex-Senator has already called her “wacky.”)
As for BO’s abysmal failure as a community organizer in southside Chicago ask the poor people there. He’s like Robin Hood in reverse, takes from the poor and gives to the rich(Ayers and Rezko).
Linc Chaffee, asshole (used to have an R by his name, and the GOP spent big money trying to get him reelected in 2006…guy is a total sniveling loser).
Anyhow, he called her a cocky wacko.
Just like a new troll that appeared a couple of days ago here at noquarter.
Coincidence? Or is FORMER (thank God) senator Linc Chaffee now joining us here?
If it is Linc, just remind him that most RI’ers (dems and reps) think he’s a fool!
Robin’ in the Hood
There is nothing abnormal to comparing Palin to wearing lipstick on a pig when you’re Uppity like the Obamas.
Somebody put lipstick on Obama, we all know he is a pig.
Chris Van Hollen thinks we’re too stupid to read Sarah’s conservative record? I know who and what she is and GUESS WHAT?????? I don’t give a rats ass that she’s anti-choice. I couldn’t care less that she’s a RW evangelical Christian and stands FOR everything I abhor. I don’t care that she hunts (which I’m against, personally) Know why????? Because I refuse to reward a party that steals elections, ignores the will of “THE PEOPLE”, calls our greatest 2 term Democratic President a RACIST, treated Hillary like a piece of crap and hand selects an UNQUALIFIED loser of a candidate.
SCREW YOU, DC ELITES. THIS TIME my vote WILL count and it WON’T BE cast for your illegitimate loser candidate.
I would also like to add that Plouffe needs to get his head out of his ass. Sarah’s “potency” is only going to get stronger. Stop letting your arrogance blind you….FOOL.
I’m with you.
Sigh…
1) The party did NOT call Bill Clinton a racist, nor did Obama.
2) Roughly half of the elected officials in the party endorsed Hillary; it confuses me thoroughly how she was treated like crap.
3) No election was stolen: the party in fact bent over backwards to validate Hillary’s victories in two non-sanctioned primaries, and Hillary later conceded the nomination.
I know that Hillary’s historic candidacy meant a great deal to a lot of people, including me - my respect for her has grown rather than diminished through this process (although I think she picked crappy advisors.) Even so, repeating these untrue talking points doesn’t do your argument any favors, especially since it ignores every possible issue that Hillary stood for.
BULL! South Carolina???? I remember it well! Trust me…I will NEVER forget what they did to Bill Clinton just because they knew they needed the AA vote and that Bill is/WAS adored by the AA voters. Don’t give me your sighing shit. Everyone knows what went down. I also won’t forget JJ Jr. playing the race card against Hillary in NH either.
2) Roughly half of the elected officials in the party endorsed Hillary; it confuses me thoroughly how she was treated like crap.
The DNC committee members stole 4 delegates from Hillary and gave them to a candidate whose name wasn’t even on the damn ballot! They refused to count her Michigan votes. SHE had MORE votes than your LOSER candidate. The DNC stopped her by changing the damn rules as they went along. NO ONE said BO had to remove his name from the Michigan ballot. He chose to do so so he could STEAL THE ELECTION.
3) No election was stolen: the party in fact bent over backwards to validate Hillary’s victories in two non-sanctioned primaries, and Hillary later conceded the nomination.
BULL! The entire MI and FL debacle was planned waaaaay in advance. They knew what they were doing. Why weren’t the other States punished for moving up their Primaries? Could it be because they FAVORED BO????? Of course it is!
You need to just accept the fact that your loser candidate is ILLEGITIMATE…JUST LIKE GEORGE BUSH! They will BOTH go down in the History books as ELECTION THIEVES. That should make you proud.
ditto whether bambi’s lemmings admit it or not we watched it LIVE on TV and read all of the hate on the blogs and also from the pundit
don’t try to make this some WWHD (what would Hillary do) moment either.
YOU surely are not standing up for anything especially the truth (if you refuse to see all sides you only have half the truth or less)
over the cliff for you lemming
What planet are you from and when did you get here? Or what words in the english language do you not understand? Whether obama called the Clintons racist by proxy or directly makes not one bit of difference. You are not speaking to the Obama choir when you suggest or inferr the democratic party under the control of the DNC did not call the Clintons racist.
Obama, if elected, will be an economic disaster for the U.S. And also a very weak foreign policy. Unlike Bill Clinton, who is a growth democrat, Obama is a redistribution-democrat, which will doom america to economic chaos. So please judge carefully before you choose between Obama and McCain.
we tried to tell them with Hillary, but they would not listen I don’t believe after the debates it will even be this close.
I have to stop watching the news because I can feel my blood presure rising when I hear people like Campbell Brown saying that the republicans are claming to be the victims.Does Obama ever take the blame for anything or say that he is sorry he is like a spoiled brat. “Mommy I used to be the star but someone else is taking my place.” He just can’t stand it and all these actors should stay off the TV because they are making such asses out of themselves.Send them all back to rehab.
Obama has made a career of playing the victim all-the-while being the dirties candidate in whatever race he’s been in. The media never once calls him a victim. ever. the media also loves to call any woman who points out he’s playing dirty a victim.
BO is EXACTLY like George Bush! Bush can NEVER admit he’s wrong. He has NEVER apologized for starting an illegal war, killing untold numbers of innocent Iraqi citizens and U.S. soldiers…..and their deaths were all because he LIED us into a war.
He is incapable of seeing the errors of his policies and psychotic actions. I think they are BOTH (Bush and BO) SOCIOPATHS. They are a perfect fit for the Clinical Description of one.
Its amazing how he is clearly lieing about the lipstick on a pig comment yet he has no problem doing so.
A brazen, unapologetic, unconcerned liar.
Not really who you want controlling the fate of the world.
Bait and Switch
Bait and Switch
Bait and Switch
its all he is good at.
We have one of those controlling the fate of the world in office NOW, BUSH….and look at how well that has worked out for us.:(
Hahahaha! Jeremiah, you rule.
ROFL!
Number 4 is my favourite
LOL…excellent.
Before anyone else asks, Feel free to post this list anywhere you like! I renounce all personal rights to it. Its in the public domain!
Hilarious! Beats any top ten list that came off Lettermans. By the way, Jeremiah, I also loved your “Dingo baby” spoof a few days ago–the one where Sarah, in a bikini, is fighting off a pack of dingos with a plastic spork to save the baby!
hehe…should probably collect all of these and put them together in a picture book.
But…knowing the life poor Mr. Rushdie now lives, i don;t know if I would want to go public in the present climate with the Ocult.
I would buy it!
Sorry I missed that!
It’s not me-
RIGHT ON!
Jeremiah,
Will you post this on clintondems.com? The group would love it!!!
Feel free to repost it anywhere you like and pass it around.
I don’t mind at all.
Make sure you give full Credit to Barky Obummer for inspiring it though. I don’t want to be accused of plagiarising his words since 95% of the list came out of his mouth.
Very out of touch, especially considering his surrogates are still out making outrageous comments about Palin. Lincoln Chaffee called her a “cocky wacko.” It’s nice to see that he’s getting slammed in RI. Most call his statement a case of “the pot called the kettle black.”
Someone should look into what I am about to say … The obama campaign funneled close to ONE MILLION DOLLARS IN LARGE BANK TRANSFERS BY CHECK to an ACORN front in N. Orleans in a very short period of time back in Jan. And Feb,2008 It should be investigated whether these funds were part of a conspiracy to pay off John edward’s Paramour using fred Baron a one of the intermediaries, Rielly hhunter demanded a large amount of cash at precisely that time in order to stay quiet and at this same juncture Edwards shut down his campaign! It is of note that david Axelrod ran edward’s 2004 Campaign, Fred Baron then proceeded to disburse $15,000 a month to hunter as well as $20,000 a month to Andrew young, edwards’s right hand man. There were numerous other expenses associated with Reilly Hunter, EG;HIGH END APT RENTALS, CHARTERED JETS, LIMOUSINES AND ON AND ON… IF eDWARDS WAS BEING EXTORTED BY HER AND HE DID NOT HAVE THE SUBSTANTIAL CASH ON HAND, who could he go to?? David Axelrod! At that popint in time the Obama campaign was literally rolling in dough and they may have figured that large checks for ‘SOUND SYSTEMS’ might not be noticed with all of the millions they were throwing around!!!a deep and comprehensive look into the caash flow from Fred baron should be investigated by the authorities as well as anyone who is a good sleuth! As wel as the connection between Edwards, Axelrod, Fred Baron and Andrew Young ! I can smell a connection between these events that coincided at the same time and I seriously doubt the Obama campaign would be ‘JUST HELPING AN ACORN FRONT OUT” Edwards surely made phone calls to Axelrod looking for cash! This, if true could be the “watergate’ of the obama campaign!
Okay, Barack. We can forget about the lipstick and the pig for now. We’ll just add it to the collection.
What I really would like is to talk a little bit more about the Invesco Field pillars. Where did that screwy idea come from? How many millions did it cost again? What purpose did it serve?
Or we could talk about FISA. A lot of us still don’t understand why you went from threatening a filibuster to caving in. We haven’t heard much about that.
NAFTA’s a big deal. The voters need to hear more about that.
Do you really want to invade Pakistan or did I get that wrong?
Just forget about McCain. You seem to have already done that. But,TRY, just try to forget about Sarah Palin and explain how you are going to change things again. I thought I have been watching this campaign pretty closely. But that part got by me.
The whole thing is over for me. This lifelong Dem who has manned the phones, written checks, been at convention after convention is tired. I’m tired of beingt called a racist, stupid, bitter, etc. I’m just over the whole damn thing. I will not give my country away to the One or his group of thugs. It’s over and in a few weeks he can crawl back under the rock he came from. For the first time in my life I’m going over to the “dark” side.
Same here. At 18 years old I registered as a Democrat and have voted a straight Democratic ticket my entire life……35 freakin’ years of voting for those losers. I-AM-SO-FINISHED-WITH-THAT-PARTY! Never again!
The next card he’s going to play is the ‘mentally unstable’ card that females have been hearing for eons(someone, some ex-Senator has already called her “wacky.”)”
“Wachy” is not cute enough for Bambi..He’ll use some variation of Hysteria…derived from the Greek word for uterus..hystera.
OT, but the ‘Ground Zero’ ceremony is ongoing right now. Oddly, Cindy McCain is there with them. Michelle Obama is not. What’s up with that?
She had to go to church and “pray” with Racist Rev. Wright??
I think the BO campaign has silenced the mouthy Michelle. She cannot control her hatefulness. They’re afraid she’ll spew forth some more anti-America venom. Best to keep her in an undisclosed location until her husband LOSES in November.
“Okay, Barack. We can forget about the lipstick and the pig for now. We’ll just add it to the collection.”
Maybe this will make you remember. Considering the audience that Obama was speaking to and their response..he was most like using “dog whistle” ridicule against Palin. Payback for her “community organizer” comment. The “lipstick” comment, IMO, was similar to the “brush off” he gave hillary.
This is the “Hip-Hop” street meaning of the lipstick comment:
2.Putting lipstick on a pig
trying to make the ugly fuck look good
“making cara look hott is like putting lipstick on a pig”
“the Urban dictionary”
This is a jealous man. Sarah is stealing his thunder.
Where is Father Pflegler when we need him….
Game over folks!!!!
This stammering yammering fool is sinking fast.
The only hope now is to prevent Mr Hopey-Changey, Dean, the DNC, Pelosi, and Reid from costing us 4-5 Senate seats that a year ago looked like ours for the asking.
One of things that is killing us in the Senate races is the Obama Campaign and the DNC’s Leninist style tactics of forcing our down ticket candidates to swear they will support “Comprehensive Immigration Reform”, less they receive no funding, in spite of the fact polls are not showing it is a massive loser for Democrats. Our candidates are now tying themselves in knots promising to protect jobs and wages for Americans while also supporting “CIR” The vast majority of Independent voters and the plurality of Democrats are strongly opposed to “CIR”. In 2006 we made major gains in large part due to a willingness to run candidates opposed to “CIR” and backing Enforcement only legislation like the SAVE act.
So what was Barky doing yesterday? Swearing to the Hispanic Caucus that at all cost his Administration will support “CIR” and all but gut enforcement of existing immigration laws.
The McCain campaign is being given a free ride. Now with Shara Palin, the Republican will have an energized based that before hated “McAmnesty” for his anti-worker pro-Open Borders positions. Likewise the Lou Dobbs Independent and Democratic vote is now flocking to the Republican ticket.
Substitute Crime and Law and Order for Immigration fiasco and this election is shaping up to be a repeat of the 1988 Dukakis meltdown fiasco.
This guy is just a joke. His “nice guy” facade is gone now, after just 2 weeks of the general election.
I am sick to death of being told by Sen. Obama that I just “didnt understand him properly”. We all know what he meant by his pig comment so stop insulting our intelligence.
If he is bad at making himself understood, I dont want him in the White House. If he is a mean spirited jerk, I dont want him in the White House. If he was too dumb to predict swintegate would follow from his comments, I dont want him in the White House.
I hope the voters send his pandering butt back to Illinois.
Yup.
The Obamaniacs in the Democratic Party sat mute for months, uttering not a peep while Hillary was shockingly trashed. Now they don’t know what to make of women thronging to McCain/Palin and advise that Bobo lay off his dissing of Sarah? It’s too late, boys and girls!! And news flash to far-left feminists: we know she’s pro-life! How does that weigh against infanticide, racism, black liberation theology, Afrocentrism, and terrorism? The Obama crowd knows how he gained his initial support–ethnocentrism–and now genderism has bitten his skinny butt, but good!
Obama said what he said. And it was for Palin.Obama is a sneaky nasty dirty handed politician. He did this knowing or hopeing John McCain will come.So Obama can start this again. He is a nasty dirty politician.
AS Bill Clinton said today while having lunch with Obama. He will be the next president.Obama said see there listen to him he knows littlebit of about politics.Sure Obama listen after you-msnbc-Obama-dnc had did what you did to Hillary and bill in playing all the dirty cards and now oh you need them ..Well go to hell!
To state the obvious: Obama redefines chutzpah.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyrMS6MBuSg
that is a highly disturbing video for all involved.
I showed it to my roomate, who was concerned that he was having an acid flashback at one point.
I assured him he wasn’t, that the video is just plain weird.
What I like is the fact that he claims that there are more important issues to talk about and then struggles to name them and to form clear sentences about them.
Lack of practice?
Obama was trying to get a photo op with McCain as they were leaving ground zero. McCain shook his hand Obama was saying something to him, McCain started waving at people and walked away. Obama then looked straight towards FoxNews camera all by himself and walked away to greet people. LOL
As you can see…Michelle would make a shitty 1st Lady…She woundn’t go to lunch with Bill…and would not HONOR those fallen ….She only wants the ADVANTAGES that come with office….she makes me VERY ILL!!!!
I don’t know why anyone from MI or FL would even consider voting for BO. STRANGE!!
Charles,
Always nice to read what you write. But I think you give Obama way too much credit. I think you’re assuming a quantum of sincerity here in the Plastic Candidate that he simply doesn’t have.
I think if you look more towards the type of propaganda immortalised by Josef Göbbels and updated for the MTV generation of the New Millennium you’ll see more easily what’s afoot.
It’s simply the well orchestrated ploy of repeating lies over and over again until they’re perceived as true. Obama doesn’t believe any of this - no one in his campaign does. But I’d bet they snicker a lot over it.
Jeremiah God Damn Amerikkka Wright–Very funny. I love your breaking news items, too.
I hope somebody saved that faux presidential seal so Barky can put it up in the den of his mansion when he moves permanently back to Chicago after Nov 4th.
Did anyone notice during Bill Clinton and Obama’s lunch interview on 9-11-08 in Clinton’s office…Bill Clinton is standing next to Obama for the interview and it looks as though Bill is standing right in front of a picture that he (Bill) has on his office wall of none other then JOHN MCCAIN!!! I could be wrong but look right behind Bill Clinton’s Head and the Picture on the Wall. What a Hoot!!!!!! I love the Clinton’s.
