The AP Portrays Palin As Hawkish On War With Russia

abc_palin_16_080911_mc.jpgThe Associated Press (AP) in one short paragraph portrayed Palin as hawkish on war. This statement was meant to grab mainly men, I believe. My opinion heralds back from the days I was in Indiana volunteering for Hillary Clinton. The one theme I heard from quite a few men was they didn’t like Hillary because she sounded hawkish on Iran! When the AP did this they were reaching out to a specific demographic. (Another friend feels the AP was reaching out to mothers with draft age kids, we differ in our opinions.)

This is what the AP had to say just 33 minutes after the 1st part of the ABC interview ended:

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin left open the option Thursday of waging war with Russia if it were to invade neighboring Georgia and the former Soviet republic were a NATO ally. “We will not repeat a Cold War,” Palin said in her first television interview since becoming Republican John McCain’s vice presidential running mate two weeks ago. Palin told Charles Gibson of ABC News that she’d favor including Georgia and Ukraine, both former Soviet republics, in NATO despite opposition by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. Asked whether the United States would have to go to war with Russia if it invaded Georgia, and the country was part of NATO, Palin said: “Perhaps so.”

More misinformation on the part of the media. Palin did not leave open the option of going to war with Russia. What she showed was her knowledge of our contract with North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Our contract with NATO is part and parcel of the history of NATO.

I am about to give the AP a lesson on our contract with NATO. I am supporting Palin’s knowledge of NATO. She did her homework, I don’t believe for a minute that she was force fed this “history” lesson by the McCain camp. Palin has shown she is a quick study.

Here is the history of NATO from Wikipedia:

The Treaty of Brussels, signed on 17 March 1948 by Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France and the United Kingdom is considered the precursor to the NATO agreement. The treaty and the Soviet Berlin Blockade led to the creation of the Western European Union’s Defence Organization in September 1948.[6] However, participation of the United States was thought necessary in order to counter the military power of the USSR, and therefore talks for a new military alliance began almost immediately.

These talks resulted in the North Atlantic Treaty, which was signed in Washington, D.C. on 4 April 1949. It included the five Treaty of Brussels states, as well as the United States, Canada, Portugal, Italy, Norway, Denmark and Iceland. Support for the Treaty was not unanimous; Iceland suffered an anti-NATO riot in March 1949 which may have been Communist-inspired. Three years later, on 18 February 1952, Greece and Turkey also joined.

“The Parties of NATO agreed that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all. Consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defense will assist the Party or Parties being attacked, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area.”

Such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force does not necessarily mean that other member states will respond with military action against the aggressor(s). Rather they are obliged to respond, but maintain the freedom to choose how they will respond. This differs from Article IV of the Treaty of Brussels (which founded the Western European Union) which clearly states that the response must include military action. It is however often assumed that NATO members will aid the attacked member militarily. Further, the article limits the organization’s scope to Europe and North America, which explains why the invasion of the British Falkland Islands did not result in NATO involvement.

As you can see Palin understands our requirements under NATO agreements made back in 1949.

After the September 11th attacks one article that had never been invoked before was invoked. The scope of the loss at The Twin Towers was international, we lost people from our country and people from other countries. Article 5 in short says the following:

The September 11 attacks caused NATO to invoke Article 5 of the NATO Charter for the first time in its history. The Article says that an attack on any member shall be considered to be an attack on all. The invocation was confirmed on 4 October 2001 when NATO determined that the attacks were indeed eligible under the terms of the North Atlantic Treaty.[20] The eight official actions taken by NATO in response to the attacks included : Operation Eagle Assist and Operation Active Endeavour. Operation Active Endeavour is a naval operation in the Mediterranean Sea and is designed to prevent the movement of terrorists or weapons of mass destruction as well as to enhance the security of shipping in general. It began on October 4, 2001.

NATO has changed quite a bit since 1949. It has been used outside Europe and North America, most notably in Afghanistan. The membership has changed as well over the years but we are still by treaty with NATO required to fulfill certain duties. That was the point Governor Sarah Palin was trying to drive home. Palin was spot on with her assessment. If Georgia was a member of NATO, we would be required to do defend Georgia against an attack by another country like Russia by treaty, a 60 year old treaty. And for no other reason. Palin never said implicitly or overtly that we would go to war with Russia.

It is my sincere wish that the media report on facts not on innuendo. AP is making a false charge here. If their reporting was factual in full, they would have stated that we would be required to stand up for Georgia if they were a member of NATO by treaty! Alas once again AP wants us to see one thing in print, directly influencing the presidential campaigns and polling data.

The AP should be ashamed!

Media too tough on Palin

From an ex-Clinton aide:

Mark Penn: Well, no, I think the people themselves saw unfair media coverage of Senator Clinton. I think if you go back, the polls reflected very clearly what “Saturday Night Live” crystallized in one of their mock debates about what was happening with the press.

I think here the media is on very dangerous ground. I think that when you see them going through every single expense report that Governor Palin ever filed, if they don’t do that for all four of the candidates, they’re on very dangerous ground. I think the media so far has been the biggest loser in this race. And they continue to have growing credibility problems.

This is a good read. FTA: one in five Hillary voters will not support Obama. what’s that, about 4 million voters?

Thank you, Mark Penn. Let’s start with looking at all of Obobo’s records. Has he coughed any of them up yet?

Comment by Paul F. Villarreal | 2008-09-12 15:56:01

Obobo will never release his records. He’s such a punk. The media wants to know about Palin’s water breaking, but Obama’s days with Khalid al-Monsour?

No worries.

This is the second spot Team McCain has released today which is specifically aimed at Latino voters.

They are going all out for CO and NM (and other states) with these ads, and I LOVE it!

Note: McCain just put out an ad on the stem cell issue as well:

McCain needs to get Obama’s record out to the Hispanic voters.

When the 2000 Census showed more Hispanics and Asians were moving into Chicago but the number of African
Americans were declining, Obama made this statement to the Chicago Defender newspaper:

“While everyone agrees that the Hispanic population has grown, they cannot expand by taking African-American seats.”

Yes, one in 4 Hill voters will support Mac!
Young voters from 18 to 29 are shifting over to McCain and it’s the Palin effect that explains the shift. They are significant and leaving Obama with not enough excited youthful voters.
Obama actually said, “You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig.” Whew. That one will add several points to the McCain-Palin column. “Holy Sow!” He called her a pig!

Even Camille Paglia, a strong Obama supporter, is waxing rhapsodic over Sarah Palin. Paglia calls her “a new style of muscular American feminism”; a “brash ambassador from America’s pioneer past”; an “optimistic pragmatist like Ronald Reagan.”

The Washington Post has “Palin Energizing Women From All Walks of Life.” In particular, white women with children at home give Palin a favorable rating of 80 percent.

Last year I read the book “The One Percent Doctrine: Deep Inside American’s Pursuit of It’s Enemies Since 9/11″ (Ron Suskind) Amazon link: http://books.google.com/books?id=gV3m6sYhnrsC&dq=the+one+percent+doctrine&pg=PP1&ots=6HoIJaZQh1&sig=TeaaMhsTGkKRAJ2r4Xq7U7I77cQ&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=1&ct=result#PPA19,M1

The main message of the book is the pre-emptive stance taken by Dick Cheney in dealing with America’s enemies. What Suskind shows in his research is Cheney’s belief that if an enemy state has even a one percent motivation (or chance) of striking a blow against the U.S., that is justification for a preemptive action by the U.S. Chilling, actually.

I don’t think will work against Governor Palin, nor with McCain. BOTH have kids in the military AND in Iraq. McCain’s military experience also adds credibility. All of this credibility can’t be matched by mere words and anyone with half a brain will not fall for the ’she’s a hawk and wants to get kids killed’ theme. It is simply not believable.

Chavez invited Russian strategic bombers to Venezuela this week.
Chavez is now throwing out U.S. ambassadors and stating diplomatic relations will resume when America gets leadership he likes. Chavez has endorsed Obama.

If anyone remembers the Cold War, well, it’s coming back thanks to Putin. We need someone who talks tough with Russia. Putin, former head of the KGB, will not respect anyone that is soft.

Many may recall that Obama did not initially condemn Russian when it invaded Georgia. Putin and Chavez will run all over Obama (and America). Of course, Obama may invite it.

Comment by Gal from Tex | 2008-09-12 16:18:09

that is freaking frightening. People may say awwwww it’s just conspiracy theory, but facts are facts. I do remember the cold war. Saw movies about a nuclear war. My classmates at UC Santa Cruz wanted to stockpile cyanide so we could take our own lives in the case of nuclear war (nope didn’t support that). Will Barry be able to prevent this? Can he stand up to Putin?

Comment by Garfield | 2008-09-12 17:11:30

Gal from Tex,
Chavez also is threatening to cut off oil exports to the U.S. until a new President is in office. The U.S. is the biggest buyer of Venezuelan oil, which accounts for 90% of the South American country’s exports. However, today Venezuela’s bonds plunged to their lowest levels since 2004.

On another note of connection between Obama and Chavez, you may recall that in April 2008, Obama supporter Bill Richardson visited with Chavez.

Remember the Che Guevara flag flying in Obama’s campaign office in Texas? Well, Chavez’s government intalled an 8-foot glass tall plate bearing Guevara’s image in Caracas last year.

Chavez has stated that Guevara is a model socialist for all Venezuelans and named a state-funded adult education program “Mission Che Guevara.” Murals of Guevara are common in Venezuela.

It appears Chavez and Obama have a common admiration for Che Guevara.

Comment by Pink Panther | 2008-09-12 17:33:29

Don’t forget the computers captured earlier this year by Colombian soldiers which contained information that Chavez expects to see more help if Obama is elected President become Obama is most aligned with the Colombian Marxist group, Revolutionary Armed Forces of Columbia, or FARC.

Of course Chavez is going to do all he can to help Obama get in office.

Comment by Duras | 2008-09-12 15:41:54

I can’t believe that anyone would try and make a big deal out of this. For one thing, if Russia were to invade a NATO member, then we’re obligated to go to war to defend them. NATO’s charter very clearly states that an attack on one alliance member will be regarded as an attack on all alliance members. There’s no wiggle room here whatsoever. None.

Apparently some people would feel safer believing that if Russian tanks rolled across the border into Poland or Hungary, President Obama would call up Premier Putin to talk it over first. I’m certainly not one of them. The Russians need to understand that if they attack a NATO member, it will mean war and they will get their asses kicked. If they truly believe this to be the case, they won’t be tempted to try anything. But if they perceive western resolve … in partcular American resolve … to be weak, it dramatically increases the odds that they’ll miscalculate and make an aggressive move to try and re-establish their Cold War “sphere of influence”.

Now, if Russia invades Georgia before Georgia becomes a NATO member, then the situation is less clear-cut. But I even then, I think that the west would have to mount some kind of military response. So, I see Palin’s answer of “Probably so” as appropriate.

This is precisely why electing Barack Obama as president could be disasterous. The world almost incinerated itself in 1962 because Nikita Kruschev believed John Kennedy to be weak. Think he would have tried putting those missiles in Cuba with Richard Nixon in the White House? If Barack Obama is elected, you can almost guarantee that America’s enemies will seek to test him right off the bat.

Comment by Duras | 2008-09-12 15:57:12

Actually, I’ll take part of what I just posted back. I wasn’t aware that NATO’s charter did not explicitly require a miliary response to an attack against one of its members. (Hat tip to NancyA) So, given that, Sarah Palin’s response of “Possibly so” can be seen as the most technically correct one.

However, in practical terms, the Russians (Soviets) have always believed that the response from NATO would be a military one. IMHO, it’s best that they keep thinking that way.

Obama gets in on affirmative action and manipulates marxist professors for passing grades while smoking dope with them.

What has Obama done in the real world?

1. Community organizer: A nothing job where Obama had no significant accomplishments.
2. Lawyer: Obama had no significant accomplishments and was described as “average” by the senior members of his own law firm.
3. Part time law professor: Obama had no significant accmoplishments.
4. State senate: No significant accomplishments. Biggest claim to fame is voting “present” 130 times and pressing the wrong button 6 times.
5. US Senate: No significant accomplishments. The vast majority of his time was spent running for president.

Obama is an elitest who spent his time in college associating with radical marxist professors and moved to Chicago to associate with radical nuts.

Obama is so out of touch with the average citizen I don’t know why anyone would vote for someone that they cannot even begin to relate to.

NEW HAMPSHIRE DEMOCRATIC LEGISLATOR ENDORSES JOHN MCCAIN
For Immediate Release

Contact: Press Office
Friday, September 12, 2008
603-369-8744

MANCHESTER, NH — The McCain-Palin campaign today announced that New Hampshire State Representative Doreen Howard, a Democratic legislator from Newmarket, has endorsed John McCain for president. Representative Howard previously supported Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s candidacy.

“As a lifelong Democrat who enthusiastically backed Hillary Clinton in the primaries, I am now supporting John McCain. Like Senator Clinton, McCain values the importance of public service. Both Clinton and McCain put country first and that’s critically important,” said Howard. “John McCain and Sarah Palin are mavericks who have proven they can deliver real reform. As our nation faces challenges at home and abroad, Americans will benefit from their experience, judgment and strong leadership.”

Elected in 2006, Representative Howard is a member of the State-Federal Relations and Veterans Affairs Committee. She represents Newmarket and Newfields.

Representative Howard supported John Kerry in 2004 and Al Gore in 2000.

We should kick them out of the G8.
She was right in her response.
We need Ukraine and Goergia. As the leader of the free world you are expected to lead. Russia deserves punished. Ukraine is absolutely vital to Nato. Goergia is a democracy. We must stand for freedom. No one else will. Any country who chooses to govern with our philosophy who is a friend of ours, goergia had troops in iraq for us.
If we do not stand with those who stand for us and for freedom and democracy, i am not sure what we stand for at all then.

Comment by katmandu | 2008-09-12 16:16:11

Absolutely correct. And Truman had very little national political experience. No foreign policy experience. He was thought to be a Pendergast hack, and he was selected as VP on the basis of one reform committee he ran. Yet history now assesses him as a tough leader.

Comment by Duras | 2008-09-12 16:52:59

Interestingly enough, Truman’s public approval ratings at the end of his presidency in 1952 were about where Bush’s are now. At the time, he was widely reviled for his decision to sack Gen. Douglas MacArthur, the “Hero of Manila”, for insubordination, although he was absolutely right to do so.

Somehow, I think that history will be kinder to Bush than his contemporaries have been.

Comment by tek | 2008-09-12 15:58:47

LJ, you are absolutely correct. There is always the possibility that we would have to go to war if another powerful nation becomes too aggressive. It seemed like an accurate answer to me. ANd frankly, I think we would want to avoid a cold war at all costs.

What I wonder is why no one seems to be highlighting her comment that we should work on world relations so that war become a last option.

It goes to show how far away from the concerns of ordinary Americans the new DNC and the whackos like Obie and his sidekick Maddie that inhabit the mainstream media really are. Americans want bad cops who hide behind their shields off our streets and off our payroll. And the higher up who protect them and refuse to clean house?- Shit can them too. And honestly , reality check- the MSM is taking the side of a cop who tasered a 10 year old boy and terrorized his wife? WTF! No, No misogyny there.

Comment by Dr. Kate | 2008-09-12 17:08:57

write a letter to the editor!! Here’s a sample:

Lawsuit Questions Obama’s Eligibility
Editor:

On August 21, 2008, a federal lawsuit was filed against Barack H. Obama, the Democratic National Committee (DNC), and the Federal Election Commission (FEC) challenging the eligibility of Obama to be President of the United States. Legal papers were served on each of the defendants by the U.S. Marshall’s office, and first responses are due on September 24. The lawsuit is being heard by a federal court in Philadelphia.

Eligibility criteria for the President are found in Article II of the U.S. Constitution. Article II stipulates that the President must be a “natural born citizen”, and he/she must also be an American citizen. Both of these provisions have been commonly interpreted to carry the meaning of “allegiance”: the President of the United States must have only one allegiance. This derives from the fact that the President is also the Commander-in-Chief of our Armed Forces. Thus naturalized citizens, or Americans with dual or multiple citizenships, are not eligible for the Presidency.

The lawsuit alleges that Barack Obama was born in Kenya, not Hawaii, and provides eyewitness accounts of his birth in Mombasa, Kenya. The lawsuit also asserts that Senator Obama has multiple citizenship—Kenya, British, Indonesia, and U.S. The lawsuit provides documentary evidence that Obama traveled to Pakistan in 1981, when he was 20 years old, on an Indonesian passport and at a time when there was a ban on American travel to Pakistan. Did he lose U.S. citizenship with that travel?

The lawsuit requests official copies of his birth certificate(s), his passports, citizenship declaration, and evidence of his legal name change from Barry Soetoro back to Barack Obama. The lawsuit cannot be dismissed until Mr. Obama provides the paperwork.

It is shocking that at this late date, basic information about Barack Obama is still unknown: this is the reason the DNC and the FEC were also brought into this lawsuit. It is a process called “vetting”. What a shame if we find that the DNC, in its failure to vet Obama, has fielded an ineligible candidate for President!

Comment by katmandu | 2008-09-12 16:40:23

WA state has a similar poll now. Obama will not like it, having to run ads in those states. He ran $9 million worth of ads in FL unopposed, and didn’t move against McCain.

Old topic: The fury about McCain’s houses? I pointed out that the Kerry/Heinzes were much richer. And some mentioned the Kennedys. Today in the Washington Post, right above Doonesbury, which is ragging McCain about the houses, there was an article about the Kennedy clan selling their last two houses in the DC area. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/11/AR2008091103894.html The asking prices — 11.8 mil and 12.5 mil.

I have nothing against people with money — and think the whole issue was dumb. But I wonder if Post readers caught the irony. Ethel Kennedy’s house came on the market 5 years ago for $25 mil–it’s now a bargain at 12.5 mil! Anyone want to cosign my loan application?

Comment by Duras | 2008-09-12 16:46:21

The Far Left may have trouble understanding it, but believe it or not, most Americans don’t resent successful people. In fact, most Americans admire them and want to be like them.

This “house” issue was a loser from the get-go for Obambi. The only people it will resonate with are people who were going to vote for him anyway.

Comment by Docelder | 2008-09-12 16:49:30

I really think the most under quoted line from the RNC was the one made by Huckabee where he said he didn’t become a republican because he was rich… but because he didn’t want to be poor and dependent on the government for help. I believe until now… core America has had no real representation in Washington for some time.

Sorry if this is a re-post but it pisses me off..

Todd Palin subpoenaed in firing probe

http://www.adn.com/palin/story/524038.html

The state Senate Judiciary Committee voted 3-2 today to subpoena 13 people — including the husband of Gov. Sarah Palin — in an investigation of whether Palin abused her power in trying to get her former brother-in-law fired.
The legislative probe has taken on new significance since Republican presidential candidate John McCain picked Palin as his running mate.

Retired prosecutor Stephen Branchflower asked the state House and Senate judiciary committees for power to subpoena the 13 witnesses, including Todd Palin, the governor’s husband.

“He’s such a central figure. … I think one should be issued for him,” Branchflower said.

The Senate committees granted the request. Voting for were Sens. Charlie Huggins, R-Wasilla, and two Anchorage Democrats, Hollis French and Bill Wielechowski.

Voting no were Sens. Lesil McGuire, R-Anchorage, and Gene Therriault, R-North Pole.

Branchflower said he wants to interview Palin herself but did not ask for a subpoena for her.

Comment by fluffy bunny | 2008-09-12 17:03:07

They’re trying to intimidate her by going after her family.

“nice family you got there. shame if anything should happen to them”

My guess is every person in the family (except Piper and Trig) sat down together a month ago and gave the OK, and got ready to fight together. Todd Palin doesn’t seem like a wimp to me….

I do hope some wealthy GOP attorneys will step up to represent them very cheap. Legal fees can get way out of control very quickly.

What does it say to you that she won South Dakota handily (Obama was supposed to) after being outspent massively. People voted for her ANYWAY — even though, according to the unscrupulous geniuses at AP, she was already out of the race.

Two names — Rupert Murdoch and Sam Zell — on the Board of Directors of AP — big Obama supporters.

Whites lift McCain to slim lead over Obama in poll

WASHINGTON – An overwhelming advantage in experience and lopsided support from working-class and suburban whites have lifted Republican John McCain to a slender lead over Barack Obama less than two months from Election Day, a poll on the presidential race said Friday.

The Arizona senator has a 13-percentage-point lead over his Democratic rival both with men and senior citizens, and a 23-point advantage among rural residents, according to the Associated Press-GfK Poll of likely voters. He’s also doing better than Obama at consolidating support from party loyalists: 94 percent of Republicans back McCain, while 83 percent of Democrats prefer the Illinois senator

there is a lot of info in the piece…

Somehow, I think that history will be kinder to Bush than his contemporaries have been.

Duras, i agree. Politics is a rough business and democrats have turned Bush, ( with ALOT of help from himself and his admin) into a buffoon.
Angry leftists like olbermann call him a murder and say he should be tryed for war crimes.
gimme a break. Bush is just a stepping stone to these pols and reporters careers. Fairly or unfairly they use him to their advantage.

Think of what we could of done as a country over these last few years if partisan bullshit would have been laid aside and the insults would have stopped.
On both sides their is equal blame. Poeple like Barrack Obama are part of the problem.
Poeple like John McCain are the solution.

I was in Texas when Bush was governor. He was not bad as governor. His big agenda was education. Laura Bush was a school teacher and librarian. Remember this… where was Bush when 9-11 happened? In a classroom watching kids read. But history is… what it is.

Sorry to be Off topic:

But has anyone watch the clips of McCain at The View today?? Talk about shilling for Obama and hating Palin…. I never watch them but I remember them drooling when Obama went on and their attitude today was really hideous: making faces, mocking, interrupting and talking over him: Barbara Walters was the worst, followed by Whoopi & Joy …

Comment by 30yrdem-not any more | 2008-09-12 17:05:45

Yes I saw that…are all media/talk shows in the boat with BO?…it is sinking…they are trying to man the life boats now and McCain/ Palin keep climbing in the polls because of it.

Comment by Andy | 2008-09-12 17:10:24

I was appalled at their behavior, grimaces and mockery; not even basic respect: what a lack of professionalism….Disgraceful really.

Comment by 30yrdem-not any more | 2008-09-12 17:21:21

I know, they would not treat Biden or Obama like that…double standard..

i have a republican friend who works in hollywood. she has to be “in the closet” about the fact that she’s a republican or she WILL. NOT. GET. WORK. it’s that simple. she says the climate there is definitely fascist and marvels that the party (dem) that is supposed to be so inclusive and open has turned out to be the most draconian against anyone, including other dems, who does not fall in line with their racist, misogynist and elite view of the world. sad.

of course, my point is that i think some of the falling all over selves that we see on the telly by people who depend on being “in” in order to get hired, are people trying to prove just how in the tank they are for boy wonder in order to secure their futures.

it’s the new casting couch – how far up obama’s arse can i crawl to prove myself?

Yeah, I’m in LA and there seems to be an assumption everywhere that people are for Obama. But when I actually talk to people, you’d be surprised at how few people are actually gung-ho over him.

I watched the YouTube recording over a late lunch and yes, some of the women were up front in their comments, I think McCain handled it with grace and seemed to enjoy the conversation. I may be wrong as I don’t watch this show but I think this did him well. I was actually more impressed with the back and forth McCain did with the women who didn’t care for him as opposed to the woman at the far right of the couch that announced she supported him. She came across to me as a bit lame.

Gibson is a gasbag who was protecting his gentalia and looking all constipated when he interviewed Sarah. I thought he was going to let out a huge f*rt right there on TV. Gibson is mean and hateful. At least he was to Sarah.

Sarah needs to know that all the rumors are just the obots grasping at straws. America loves her!

Heidi Li had me laughing. She wrote that the Dems have a candidate without coat tails. LOL An empty suit without coat-tails. hahahahaha

There were some post on another thread about who would BO invite to the White House should be be elected president. Ayers, Wright, and others popped into mind immediately. I am trying to think/remember who McCain might invite who would be an embarrassment us all like Ayers, Wright would be. I can’t think of any anti-americans who support McCain.

The reason I ask is that I am writing a letter to my local paper and need some help to make sure I am correct with my opinion. So please post any anti-american names you folks know that are associated with either BO or McCain.

The trolls should be able to help with the McCain anti-american associates. Here’s your chance guys/gals! lol

Andy
Saw The View. Walters, Behar and Whoopi looked as if they were going to physically start knocking McCain around. Well, they embarassed themselves and showed what they really are–seems like everyone backing Obama is coming down with the “hatred spewing disease.” I wonder why, if she’s such an inexperienced hockey mom with nothing to show for her life than what’s all the fuss, what are they so afraid of? They just can’t stand that BO is not in the spotlight and losing ground fast. It’s the Salem witch trials of the 21st century–she’s the evil one, she’s the one we need to destroy–wow, and we thought all of this was over–if this was the 17th century HIllary and Sarah would be tried and hung by now. This hatred coming from women especially is scary stuff.

In my view (ha), what’s happened is that the email whisper campaign about Palin has really freaked out a lot of people who were already hardcore Obama supporters. Low information liberals who respond to liberal fearmongering but not much fact-wise. With the latest meme that Palin is going to start a nuclear war, they are really literally frightened that McCain and Palin are going to enter the White House and destroy the world.

It’s quite irrational, and not based on any real evidence, but I think this is where it’s coming from.

And don’t forget Donna Brazille stating: Jesus was a community organizer and Pontius Pilate was a govenor. Do they even know how ridiculous they sound? Barney Barry is so far from what Jesus was. Yikes!

The View was a crock. Barbara Walters asking Cindy McCain how many houses she had was an embarrassment. Let’s not even get into Whoopi asking if slavery would be brought back. Unbelievable. And Joy Behar calling McCain a liar. Compare that to the fawning treatment they gave Michelle Obama. It really makes me sick.

BTW McCain talked again about having dual appearances with Obama instead of all of the negative campaigning, and suggested they ask Obama to be on the show with him, and Barbara snapped back “You give us Palin and we’ll do that.”

I personally think McCain and Palin should just stay off NBC, ABC, and CNN until the election is over. Stick to CBS and Fox. And just shut down Meet the Press by not having any Republicans on. With Russert gone that show is a joke.

“Ending it??????”

I blame all this ignorance not on you but on MTV, video games and permissive parenting.

The Soviets “ended it”, as you put it, by doing us the favor of collapsing first.

Our economy, not our military, proved to be the means to their demise.

They were simply not able to shovel money into the fire as fast as we could.

LOl sure you right. However, if russia does become communist again. they can have back their middle eastern countries. The soviet union new how to deal with “muslim’ extremist. we *and I’m including myself* don’t have the stomach to do what sometimes has to be done with irrational people, and like i’ve said before any person who believes in most religions are irrational.

I blame all this ignorance not on you but on MTV, video games and permissive parenting.

Russia has always been expansive and in search of buffer states both as a Tzarist Empire and as a Soviet Empire.

This is dictated by it’s resources and it’s geographical location. It is a historical imperative.

Has anyone noticed how when BO is ahead in the polls RCP has only the top 5 polls listed but when Mcain is ahead they list 10 polls? This dilutes the MCain average lead. When you divide by 10 rather than 5 the five always wins. More of that Dem advantage from the media!

Comment by Tristan | 2008-09-13 01:00:09

The state by state polls are way behind. If you dig a little deeper, McCain has a +8 lock on Florida and may push VA and OH from toss-up to leaning.

Comment by JozefAL | 2008-09-13 01:20:58

Apologies if this has already been addressed but here goes.

From the article:

More misinformation on the part of the media. Palin did not leave open the option of going to war with Russia. What she showed was her knowledge of our contract with North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Our contract with NATO is part and parcel of the history of NATO.

In point of fact, it was that very contract that brought the NATO member states into Bush’s “global war on terror”. Bush invoked the relevant article about an attack on one member nation being an attack on all member nations following 9/11. While the UK, France, Germany and Italy had no true moral reason for acceding to the demand (in fact, the NATO clause doesn’t really specify but does seem to mean an attack by a foreign power, NOT a terrorist organization; all the nations I listed suffered various levels of terrorist activities from the 1960s through the 1990s without ever invoking the NATO clause), they did nonetheless agree to consider 9/11 as falling within the terms of their NATO obligations.
