MANCHESTER, NH — The McCain-Palin campaign today announced that New Hampshire State Representative Doreen Howard, a Democratic legislator from Newmarket, has endorsed John McCain for president. Representative Howard previously supported Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s candidacy.
“As a lifelong Democrat who enthusiastically backed Hillary Clinton in the primaries, I am now supporting John McCain. Like Senator Clinton, McCain values the importance of public service. Both Clinton and McCain put country first and that’s critically important,” said Howard. “John McCain and Sarah Palin are mavericks who have proven they can deliver real reform. As our nation faces challenges at home and abroad, Americans will benefit from their experience, judgment and strong leadership.”
Elected in 2006, Representative Howard is a member of the State-Federal Relations and Veterans Affairs Committee. She represents Newmarket and Newfields.
Representative Howard supported John Kerry in 2004 and Al Gore in 2000.
What I find funny is that I’m a candidate for state rep. and I sure as heck ain’t endorsing BO. In fact I need to get to townhall and become an “undeclared” voter.

I have been invited to a precinct campaign committe meeting Tuesday to prepare for the next few weeks of the campaigns. I’ve been preparing my argumentsto explain why I will NOT be campaigning for Obama. I support our Senate, CD candidate and our HD and SD candidates and all the other Dems whose campaigns will be partly decided by our precinct, but I will NOT carry Obama literature.
It’s good to have this example.
NH, I saw the article on Friday afternoon and called Doreen within minutes. She was very open about her decision to support McCain. She told me she has been pressured by the NH dems to get on board and bring her checkbook. I told her how much I respected her for standing up for what she believes in and putting country before party. We wouldn’t be having this discussion if others had done the same. She also said she was tired of the Roe v Wade argument. It’s not going to work this time she said. I’m not voting with my ovaries anymore.
The best part of the conversation was when she related how she had just felt rotten since Hillary had suspended her campaign but when Sarah came on the scene she was reenergised. I told her I felt the exact same way.
Never hurts to call these brave souls and give them some support. I’ll bet she’s had some unpleasant calls to deal with.

That seems like a significant endorsement from the Live Free or Die state. And a couragous one. I believe leaders like Rep. Howard know that Gov. Palin isn’t as inexperienced or radical as the MSM makes her out to be and that Sen. McCain is a man of character.

I’m a Canadian who lives in B.C. and has worked in the Alberta oil industry. We have known about Gov. Palin for a while since Alaska is right next door. It seems as though she has negotiated agreements with a foreign country (that being Canada),which is more than Obama has done. Why doesn’t that matter to you Yanks? Because it’s just Canada? Very snobbish indeed!

I am from NH and you can bet it is a swing state! I grew up here, and it always went Republican but, the more people who moved here from Mass. the more Democrat it went. Clinton won here (both Clintons I might add! ) too bad the NH superdelegates sold out the voters and let their votes be bought by Obama. That’s ok, many of them are up for re election in November, and we will not forget who went against the wishes of the constituents. NH is still very moderate so, McCain should do well here. He is very well liked here anyway.

She was in Colorado last weekend. She’s scheduled to come here mid September and the venue had to be changed to a big arena to accommodate demand–tickets sold out. According to the Wall Street Journal, Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim & family have purchased a 6.4% stake in the NYT Co., making them one of the largest shareholders in the newspaper publisher outside of the controlling Ochs-Sulzberger family.
The NYT has seen advertising and readership declines.
This is perhaps bound to help McCain-Palin. Bring it on!

This is not a “post convention bounce”.
Obama “beat” Hillary winning states that no Democrat will carry in November.
The race started over a year ago and everybody Knows McCain and Obama enough to make up their minds.
Once the voters have decided, and that is exactly what they are doing right now, it will take a Political Earthquake to change their minds.
Putting Hillary on the ticket is the only thing that will shake up this race.
It’s a risk, but it can be managed.
Women who consider themselves “True Feminists” will rally to the ticket.
It does not fit the Eagleton case and is just switching up your Team on the field, something every smart and winning coach knows how to do.

Palin, a Republican, will be the first V.P.
Palin, a Republican, in 2012 could be the first Two Term, ending in 2020, Woman President.
An entire generation of young Women will come of age in those 12 years and the Democrats could loose the Woman’s Vote for the rest of the Century.
Women make up over 50% of the voting public.
If it were up to me and I was advising Obama and the DNC, I would tell them all to crawl on their knees and beg Hillary to come on the Ticket.
I would beg her to help get the PUMA women back.
BUT—-He won’t—He’s “The One” and to full of himself.
So I know, this will not happen and he will loose, not in November, but this week, before the debates.

Honestly, at this point, I’m not sure if I would vote for the Democratic ticket if Hillary were brought in as VP. It’s not just that I don’t trust Obama. I’m a little disappointed that Hillary has done nothing about the caucus fraud. Furthermore, with people on the left saying things like they’d like to force sex on Palin in front of their wives, I’m really not wanting them to get their wish right now.
The only way I would find Hillary as the VP now acceptable is if the DNC admitted that there were improprieties in the caucuses (with no blame, just acknowledging), and that in the interests of improving the system, they were working on fixing this for the next election. If they did that along with bringing Hillary in, then I might hold my nose for Obama. But as long as they gloss over the caucus fraud, I can’t see how Obama would get my vote, Hillary or no.
I agree with William Donlon. I have been thinking since the PALIN announcement that THIS VERY WELL COULD HAPPEN.
Why? Because HILLARY ON THE TICKET IS OBAMA’S ONLY CHANCE. PERIOD.
Obama has already cut some sort of deal/arrangement with Bill Clinton and now Bill is stumping for him. Obama asked Hillary to increase her amount of stumping for him and she did & her rhetoric has been (in the words of Emeril) “kicked up a notch”.
THEORY:
STEP 1 – Obama Campaign gets Bill & Hillary to stump for Obama and rousingly endorse “The One”. This “rousing endorsement” serves to appease core Obama supporters. Wounds are somewhat mended.
STEP 2 – When Obama announces his switchover from Biden to Hillary,for whatever trumped up reason, Obama supporters grudingly accept it and massive Hillary supporters go back over to Obama/Clinton ticket.
I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see this done – and soon.
I’M NOT SAYING IT WOULD BE SUCCESSFUL – I don’t know. But I am halfway waiting for such an announcement – b/c the only way Obama EVER had a chance of winning in the first place was with Hillary Clinton as the VP. (I was thrilled when he skipped over her b/c it proved what a narcissistic FOOL he truly is.)
My gut feeling (which is worth nothing-lol)is that Hillary WOULD accept it. I think she now sees with PALIN that if MCCAIN/PALIN wins – she might be looking at 12 to 16 years, thereby (due to her age) losing her chance to ever actually be the President.
I wouldn’t blame Hillary if she did think this and frankly, Hillary knows she would be an incredible President and there’s nothing wrong with her wanting to help this country. As I heard Larry Johnson say on NQ Radio – when he had to personally brief Hillary on something a few years ago, in just 3 hours Hillary blew him away with her amazing intelligence and ability.
However – it really IS a toss up at this point as to whether it would work or not. I think it might -a united ticket with Hillary (and Bill prominent in the wings) that would stir things up and cause its own excitment (as William stated) but who knows – a lot of bridges have been burned – it truly does depend on …low and behold

I, for one, would run back to the Democratic Party if Hillary became the nominee, she would also be barred from selecting Barry as her running mate, however. I don’t think it will happen. Not only is Barry too egotistical but Howard Dean is much too entrenched in his position, and let’s not forget Donna Brazile who lost us the Gore election because she refused to have the Clintons campaign for Al. I wish it would happen, but I doubt it will.
Oh wait, I misread William Donlon’s post. I wouldn’t vote for Obama if Jesus ran with him. I would only support Hillary if she were running as president without Barry along for the ride.
If Hillary replaces Biden a credibility issue will rise even within the Dem party and will create a fissure. I hope Obama does replace Hillary for Biden to see the Dem party broken and Hillary go PUMA.
They say that picking a VP is the first executive decision the candidate makes. For better or worse. He made his. He’s stuck with it. Does the NY Times think we’re stupid? The woman reformed politics in the state government, and to do that you have to get rid of the good old boys that contributed to the problem and hire people you know, and more importantly, people you trust. The citizens of Alaska have given her the highest approval rating of any governor in the country, all this BS coming out from others in the government is just pure sour grapes and political slander. Whatever happened to the NY Times? I understand their readership is declining rapidly, does anyone wonder why?
I think just about anyone with half a brain would see the Times has an agenda, they’re being hysterical, and this is the best dirt they could dig up with 300 attorneys and journalists combing Alaska.
Contact the NYT at public@nytimes.com and tell them how disgusted you are with their coverage of this election and their failure to cover Senator Obama in any where near the manner that they have investigated Gov. Palin.
You can also go on the Obama campaign blogs on his website and sign up for an account. I have been placing links to caucus fraud and anti-obama articles from the press (back in the very early part of the primaries) into responses from people who are wondering what the campaign should be doing right now and what has gone wrong to slow down the One. Hopefully some of them will get the hint and stop worshipping their new religion and open their eyes.

Super delegate payoff money needs to stop. It is a sure sign of corruption to what a democratic election process should be.
Senator Obama cannot be seen to discard Senator Biden and place Senator Clinton in his place.
Firstly if a President elect cannot get it right in selecting his Vice President, he would be
considered that he might not get it right in many other important issues.
Secondly Senator Clinton’s pride should not let her take this V.P. post if offered, many
ardent supporters have already stated that even if she had been offered the post and accepted it
they would not vote for Senator Obama. If she joined it now, more of her supporters would turn
away from her and support Senator McCain or not vote at all. There may be no gain in making this
move by Senator Obama, perhaps the opposite.

No – As I mentioned in my post, we’re talking about the possiblity of Biden “withdrawing” for “trumped up reasons”.
We’re not talking about Obama saying he made a mistake and needs Hillary.
It would have to look like a good cover up – someone mentioned above Biden had had some neurological problems.
