Out, out Damned Spot!!

[SusaUnPC's note: I'm so glad Lisa found this key interview with McCain. This has become a monster story on the Internet. Memeorandum.com is tracking the huge number of posts. So far, I see no indication, however, that the MSM is doing its job. See also my story last night, "The Obama Campaign May Have Finished Itself Off Permanently -- Through Utter Cruelty [Update]” with the video of the actual ad. Later today, Uppity Woman is publishing a new story on this same topic.]
……………………………………………………………………………

By now you’ve probably heard about the newest Obama ad - the one criticizing John McCain for not knowing how to use email.

Of course, John McCain can’t use a keyboard. The injuries he sustained as a POW that caused permanent damage to his arms prevent him from typing. But I have no doubt in this age of nearly instant communications he knows what an email is.

In an interview with the NYT wwwaaaaaayyyyyyy back on July 13, John McCain was asked about his ‘net use.

Read the rest ->

Q: What websites if any do you look at regularly?

Mr. McCain: Brooke and Mark show me Drudge, obviously, everybody watches, for better or for worse, Drudge. Sometimes I look at Politico. Sometimes RealPolitics, sometimes.

(Mrs. McCain and Ms. Buchanan both interject: “Meagan’s blog!”)

Mr. McCain: Excuse me, Meagan’s blog. And we also look at the blogs from Michael and from you that may not be in the newspaper, that are just part of your blog.

Q: But do you go on line for yourself?

Mr. McCain: They go on for me. I am learning to get online myself, and I will have that down fairly soon, getting on myself. I don’t expect to be a great communicator, I don’t expect to set up my own blog, but I am becoming computer literate to the point where I can get the information that I need – including going to my daughter’s blog first, before anything else.

Q: Do you use a blackberry or email?

Mr. McCain: No

Mark Salter: He uses a BlackBerry, just ours.

Mr. McCain: I use the Blackberry, but I don’t e-mail, I’ve never felt the particular need to e-mail. I read e-mails all the time, but the communications that I have with my friends and staff are oral and done with my cell phone. I have the luxury of being in contact with them literally all the time. We now have a phone on the plane that is usable on the plane, so I just never really felt a need to do it. But I do – could I just say, really – I understand the impact of blogs on American politics today and political campaigns. I understand that. And I understand that something appears on one blog, can ricochet all around and get into the evening news, the front page of The New York Times. So, I do pay attention to the blogs. And I am not in any way unappreciative of the impact that they have on entire campaigns and world opinion.

Sounds to me like a person who is well aware of the ‘net, email, blogs and texting. He does have people to filter for him and so doesn’t spend quite the time I do on the computer. You know, he may be better off, I’ve got friends who refuse to use email anymore because of all the spam and the sheer volume of messages.

OK, so what do we have? Well, the Obama ad is in poor taste since McCain’s physical issues are entirely the result of his time serving his country. The ad also implies McCain is woefully out of touch on technology issues.

That’s demonstrably false, as the interview shows. McCain is well aware of what is out there even if he doesn’t manipulate the mouse himself. Does that mean McCain understands all aspects of technology? As if. Who does? I’m still trying to wrap my mind around the idea of a virtual machine, although I do get the whole nanotechnology thing.

Uh, anyone really understand Windows????

As far as this Obama ad goes, I think it’s the worst he’s done. It’s false and insulting to imply older people and those with injuries are “out of touch” if they can’t manipulate a keyboard. But the biggest indictment I can give is it is simply lame, lame, lame and weak.

Besides, how does Obama propose to understand the military, if he’s never fired an M16? How can he understand women if he’s never been to the gynecologist? How can he understand the “low information” voter if he’s never tipped a can of Bud while swigging some Jack Daniels?

Think that’s ridiculous? Well, so is the “never used email” ad.

Know what that orange place and the Huffypot had to say about this ad and its direct and implied lies?

crickets. . . .

Am I the only one who remembers him using “silly” in a debate? . . . I thought it was insulting to Hillary. I take it as an example of his sexism . . . just try to picture him saying some concern John Edwards had brought up was “silly” . . . I believe in this case it also came up in a discussion that touched on Sarah Palin . . .

Correct me if I’m wrong.

Meghan McCain also has a drinking problem.
Her fridge is stocked with beer.

http://men.style.com/gq/blogs/gqeditors/2008/03/caps-font-var-1.html

From the article:
“She leads me into the kitchen. On a perch above the cabinets, wooden block letters are arranged to spell indulge. Meghan then invites me to inspect her refrigerator, like the celebrities do on MTV Cribs. Inside are some Bud Light cans, a six-pack of Stella Artois, and twelve cups of Jell-O pudding.”

Sad to see this. One must wonder what kind of parents John and Cindy really are.

Comment by joe | 2008-09-13 14:08:15

Kissinger the terrorist, huh? Cute. Very cute.

We all know that Barry Hussein likes to hang around with former domestic terrorists (he said on O’Reilly he hasn’t seen Ayers in a year and a half). We also know that he enjoys the company of former members of the PLO and former friends and bagmen of Saddam.

Sometimes I wish people like you would just move out of our fucking country. Everyone would be better off and you would be happier in a Euro socialist paradise. I heard Georgia is beautiful this time of the year. You could see how the real world operates for a change.

And leave the kids out of it. So Meagan Mac likes to throw back a few beers — she’s 22. I know I enjoyed a few when I was 22. All this shows is that you are a prepubescent teen typing on mommy and daddy’s computer. Get some homework done you twerp!

Obama has/had Zbigniew Brzezinski on his team.

According to the book America’s Half-Century, Brzezinski and Kissinger were both proteges of David Rockerfeller. Kissinger and Brzezinski have very similar world views, which the neocons dislike.

Brzezinski gave George H.W. Bush a solid B for his “global leadership” skills, while giving Bill Clinton an uneven C.

Comment by Who Is Obama Representing? | 2008-09-13 14:37:39

Last February, Brzezinski went to Syria and met with President Assad. This occurred at the same time a terrorist mastermind harbored by the Baathist regime in Damscus was assassinated by a car boom.

Why did Obama send his foreign policy counselor (Brzezinski), a long-time critic of Israel, to Syria at that time AND during a presidential campaign?

McCain should be questioning why Obama sent his campaign representative to one of America’s (and Israel’s) most hostile countries.

Comment by hank48188 | 2008-09-13 15:16:33

More important than being able to send e-mail via keyboard (the ad shows a keyboard and not voice-recognition),is the ability to conduct effective research on the internet.

Had the O campaign done an adequate job of internet research, they would have seen the Boston Globe article from 2000 showing that Mac cannot perform certain tasks.

The above points to a lack of attention-to-detail and sloppy research on the part of O people.

Thank God they are not in the White House.

MG

Comment by Ani | 2008-09-13 13:29:00

This is more than just sloppy research — this is callous disregard. Obama and his campaign staff would have to be abject morons, and/or legally blind, not to see that when Senator McCain gestures or shakes hands that he has difficulty moving his arms.

They SHOULD know, out of simple respect for an opponent, or at least an attempt to understand their opponent, that McCain’s arms were broken repeatedly in captivity.

Keep it up, Senator Obama. How nice that we are seeing the real you.

The media may continue to enable him, but the voters won’t. Anyone seeing these kinds of ads with a shred of decency or common sense will see that he is not fit to lead our country. Leadership requires more than confidence, it requires humility and a regard and respect for others — especially those one purports to wish to serve.

Obama wishes to serve himself from what I can see.

This is leadership? To make fun of people with a physical disability? How do you think that is going to go over? That’s Obama’s way, apparently — belittle, insult and deride anyone who is not on board your particular train.

Truly, there is no excuse for this.

Comment by Ash McG | 2008-09-13 14:27:30

So how does he use his gold-plated Dolce & Gabanna Motorola Razr phone? I used to sell cell phones, and when older customers who had trouble using their hands came in, the Razr was at the top of my list of phones for them to avoid.

No, the story of John McCain not being able to use a keyboard is just that: a story. A nice way to get the people who will believe anything negative about Barack Obama really upset.

Ash, your ignorance is showing. I had what is called a frozen shoulder once and I can attest that while it’s not impossible to use a phone or computer is extremely painful for any length of time. The phone is actually easier because you bend at the elbow and your arm can stay at your side without the movement of your shoulder. However, I assure you that even that after a minute or two is painful as well. Grow up ash!

There are many Americans who cannot navigate a keyboard due to disabilities. That doesn’t mean they are unaware of the technology. My own spouse, who never learned to type efficiently, still uses the “hunt and peck” system but refuses to use the internet or retrieve emails to us. Does that make them stupid? No.

Perhaps our veterans who have similar disabilities with their hands should make an ad showing those disabilities saying “I can’t retrieve an email, Senator Obama. Does that make me stupid?” My handicapped sister felt it was a great acheivement when she finally mastered the art of just being able to turn a page of a book. Is she stupid? Out of touch? Behind the times?

Maybe Obama can retrieve an email. Good for him. But can he fly a fighter jet?

Whenever I hear or read a quote from Obama spokesman Bill Burton, I think of Billy Martin losing his cool and kicking dirt all over home plate.

LOL!

Bill Burton - the Billy Martin of the Obama campaign.

Obama’s support is dropping in the swing states and now he is going with an all out attack against John McCain. The statements from the Obama campaign this morning are nothing but personal attacks.

D E S P E R A T E

They are losing their cool over at the Obama campaign. Bill Burton especially. Bill Burton is the Billy Martin of campaign sp

The McCain campaign responded with a partisan attack of their own, issuing a statement to reporters saying that the Manchester speech marks “a new low for Barack Obama.”

“It says a lot about Barack Obama’s judgment that while his campaign canceled his appearance on Saturday Night Live and his running mate stayed home, Obama went ahead and delivered a series of scathing personal attacks,” spokesman Tucker Bounds said in a statement.

Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin would press a positive message during a rally Saturday afternoon in Carson City, Nev., Bounds said.

The Obama campaign dismissed the criticism.

“We will take no lectures from John McCain who is cynically running the sleaziest and least honorable campaign in modern Presidential campaign history,” Obama spokesman Bill Burton said in a statement. “His discredited ads with disgusting lies are running all over the country today. He runs a campaign not worthy of the office his is seeking.”

The sound of DESPERATION in Billy “Martin” Burton’s words are deafening.

Obama is running to help himself.

wow. they are voicing their own campaign! McCain’s ads have been accurate and clearly better in caliber and message than Obama-Soetoro!

Its total implosion, they are out of control–great description of the Billy Martin of the Obama campaign–dirt flying everywhere.

What is needed is a campaign staff shake up, if Obama has any chance. I think he is owned by his chicago gang, tho, so how can he shake it up? Kick Biden out? That would be stupid.

Is the DNC creating an out for him to step down, or have they lost control of the party and the candidate?

Or honestly, is this the goal revealed: to implode and take the whole democratic party down? If so, the mole is Brazile, and she has executed Rove’s plan.

Sad to see that Barack Obama has such little sympathy for a true American patriot and war hero like John McCain. Senator Obama obviously has contempt for the elderly and no compassion for a man who attained lifelong injuries as a result of fighting for his country’s HONOR.

This ad needs to be exposed and sent out to FOX and derided for the obvious insensitivity and derision it serves up toward John McCain.

Shame on Barack Obama, a candidate whom I once supported, and shame on his campaign for putting out this ad. It’s ads like this that confirm my resolution to cross party lines and vote as a Democrat for John McCain and Sarah Palin.

Comment by wodiej | 2008-09-13 13:44:50

Patriot? Hero? John McCain is a guy who can be counted on to put John McCain first, whether by his failing to taxi his plane into the ocean on the USS Forrestal, causing the deaths of 134 sailors, or by earning the nickname “Songbird” during his time as a POW, or by virtually everything about his political career.

John McCain loves John McCain. He doesn’t really care about anything else.

Congratulations, NoQuarter! You’ve officially become so stupid you have ceased to amuse me. And that part reminds me a lot of the character Walter from The Big Lebowski, insisting that Vietnam was somehow a war fought to protect my freedom. That’s neither here nor there. I don’t honor people like John McCain whose only use for the military was his own ego, whose negligence was responsible for the deaths over 134 of his shipmates.

Has the MSM picked up on this at all? I saw the ad yesterday - which I should mention looked to me like an attack on his age, with the dopey music and 80s images - and then read more about McCain’s injuries and web use this morning. Maybe I’m naive, but I thought this might be what ends his campaign, sort of like George Allen’s “Macaca” moment.

Really good points, LisaB.

The ad seemed “boneheaded” to me, too, for this reason:

the people who would think it’s cool to paint McCain as a Neanderthal about the net and email are ALREADY voting for him; the people he needs to reach, by a good margin, could be insulted.

Lately it seems that BO’s speeches and off-the-cuff “pig” remarks are directed only to the adoring masses. McCain seems like he is spending more time addressing the people who are still on the fence or in the middle.

And the ad is a boon for McCain now that the meme will be all over the net about how he insulted McCain. HA!

Been thinking about Washington state today.

Just looked at a congressional race in Seattle.

The Republican candidate maintains a 10 point lead, 54-44.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/house/wa/washington_8th_district-947.html

The recent poll from Washington state has McCain closing Obama’s previous lead from last month of 12 points down to 2 points as of 9/10/08. That is within the margin of error.

Talk about a Western surge for McCain!

I think McCain-Palin should travel to Washington state. I read that Palin’s favorite NFL team is the Seattle Seahawks. It would be a natural fit. I think Washington state is having second thoughts about Obama BIG TIME and the polls sure look like Obama is going to have to play a lot of defense to hold Washington state. That is indeed news and should be troubling for the Obama campaign.

McCain’s campaign pioneered money raising via the Internet.

See “Net Vs. Norm” by Richard Rapaport, Best of The Web, Forbes ASAP, May 29, 2000
http://www.forbes.com/asap/2000/0529/053.html

Tick: $10 from a student in Salt Lake City. Tock: $250 from a retired air force lieutenant colonel from Apollo Beach, Florida. Tick: $50 from a self-employed geologist in Aptos, California. Tock: $25 from an NCR information technology consultant from Alpharetta, Georgia. And so it goes.
Watching this Web-based rolling thunder, Fose is thinking utility. “It’s immediate fuel,” he says, calling up a running total. With matching funds, the campaign’s electronic take to date is $10,346,562, fully 25% of the $40 million it will eventually spend.
This cybercash is a key propellant for the McCain surge.

That’s not McCain’s only involvement with the Internet. In the same May 29, 2000 article:

In certain ways, McCain was a natural Web candidate. Chairman of the Senate Telecommunications Subcommittee and regarded as the U.S. Senate’s savviest technologist, McCain is an inveterate devotee of email. His nightly ritual is to read his email together with his wife, Cindy. The injuries he incurred as a Vietnam POW make it painful for McCain to type. Instead, he dictates responses that his wife types on a laptop. “She’s a whiz on the keyboard, and I’m so laborious,” McCain admits.

McCain has been involved in Internet issues for years. I guess the McCain campaign is holding off on a response because of Hurricane Ike. When they do respond to Obama’s ad, they’ll be able to hit it from two directions at once. Obama’s ad really is extraordinarily out of touch.

Comment by Thomas | 2008-09-13 13:50:31

Outsider here.

Please answerme this.

Do you think Obama was not referring to Palin at all?

or was she the lipstick and McCain the Pig?

or was she the pig?

Also do you think the stinky fish comment was directed at her and her “Sarah Barracuda” nickname?

I’m actually genuinely confused because of what Obama said in his pathetic, self-pitying appearance on Letterman a couple on night’s ago.

Comment by jwrjr | 2008-09-13 13:56:11

“Obama was not referring to Palin at all?” Not a chance of it. At the very least he was taking a cheap shot of alledged humor at Palin’s expense.

Comment by fluffy bunny | 2008-09-13 13:59:08

Who cares what he really meant? It was childish, pathetic taunting and extremely unpresidential.

Hid adoring fans sure thought he was talking about Palin, and he continued with the sophomoric taunts instead of getting back to something substantive.

Even if you use the kindest possible explanation, that the pig/lipstick/fish “joke” and this ad about McCain’s not sending his own email….that Obama just didn’t know any better…does that make you want to elect him president?

Hell, I wouldn’t elect him president of my neighborhood HOA, and certainly not the PTA.

Comment by vinnie | 2008-09-13 14:09:54

His excuse is BS! It was a double jab, and one of which was toward Palin. Just like that BS brush of the shoulder and middle finger to Hillary. That man acts like a street thug and based on the audience reaction, it was meant to insult Palin’s comment. It’s a national stage and he acts like it’s the Def Jam comedy hour.

Comment by Tristan | 2008-09-13 14:50:10

He “explained” it on Letterman. Palin is the lipstick and McCain and his policies are the pig. So now we all know how clever he is.

Comment by hank48188 | 2008-09-13 15:46:36

This is the story i saw posted here, Stuck on Stupid and Free Republic. Obama speech was carefully scripted, the words he spoke right before the “Lipstick” remarks were words that were lifted almost word-for-word from a Tom Toles Cartoon from the Sept 5, 2008 Washington Post. If you go to the Post and click on Tom Toles Cartoons you can view the Sept. 5 cartoon. Obama better get better speechwriters, first they stole “This is our Moment, This is out Time” from Bono, now they are stealing from a Cartoon.

John NcCain is so far above Obama that these hot air sallies that he throws out won’t touch McCain.

But you’d better believe that the American voter is taking in every word and on Nov.4th they will give their reply.

Big mouth, arrogant, egomaniac Barry, Barack Soretoro, Dunham, or whatever his name is will wish he had stayed in Indonesia, or Africa or wherever he came from where his ilk might be more appreciated.

We appreciate war heroes here in America and to belittle one of our best who doesn’t have as nimble fingers as some, is beyond the pale. It makes me sick just to think about it. I hope some news outlet has the guts to put this out there so everybody can see just what scum Obama is.

McCain’s war injuries keep him from using a keyboard? Therefore the democrats are are mocking John’s war record when they suggest he’s not up to speed on modern technology?

That’s a classic. Somebody ought to ask John McCain if he ever learned to use a typewriter.

It’s true that he can’t lift his arms above his shoulders, and that this no doubt results from his jet crash, inadequate medical care, and subsequent abuse at the hands of the North Vietnamese. His advanced age has no doubt aggravated the effects of those old injures.

Note, however, that after months of rehabilitation following his release in 1973, John McCain not only returned to active duty, but his flight status was restored, and he was given command of a Navy flight squadron. The guy too disabled by his injuries to type was apparently still able to handle the controls of a jet aircraft. His retirement from the U.S. Navy in 1981 was a choice that he made, when he realized he would be unlikely to fulfill the 2-generation family tradition of becoming a full Navy admiral. He has stated himself that attaining full admiral was unlikely because he lacked the prerequisite sea command duty.

True, John McCain receives a tax-free Navy disability pension of $58,358 per year, and is considered by the Navy to be 100% disabled. The basis of that 100% disability rating is not a matter of public record. I doubt, however, if “can’t send an e-mail” is part of his disability profile.

Deeply buried war-related psychological traumas can surface in later years, causing anxiety, depression, recurring nightmares with an attendant inability to sleep, etc. I met a lot of vets with such problems before my own retirement and saw that with my own father, who was a WW2 pilot. I’m a ‘nam vet myself, and consider myself fortunate to have escaped the level of trauma that can bring lingering PTSD on. I was only in a state of chronic hyper-alertness and intermittant depression for around 5 years. The only thing that punches my button now is the unexpected sound of an approaching helicopter.

I’ve read comments like this on the liberal boards. Obama the Democrats are just going to throw away the election - they really don’t know any better. I guess their parents never told them that if you say something insensitive, you apologize, not argue about what disabled war heros should be capable of if they were just willing to work through the pain.

The Politico is in the tank for Obama…and/or they are a bunch or morons, even on the supposed neutral or republican blogs. The comments were always overrun by hyperpartisan cussing and knuckledraggers from both fringes when I made my way over there too.

I still can’t grasp why/when anybody started taking them seriously. They are about as professional as the HuffPost IMHO. Well, perhaps the HuffPost is better because Arianna doesn’t still try to pretend she’s objective any more, right?

Fluf, yea maybe a little because she self identifies.

Can you believe Allen’s excuse in the email? To cite his quote about trying to get online? McCain was obviously embarrassed to say he could only use a mouse at best because of his injuries. Unbelievable.

From what I’ve seen the state by state polls are slow to come in, and then you average the last three or four, you end up incorporating numbers that are 5+ days old.

There’s no question that FL has moved from leading McCain to a lock and that Ohio has moved to leading. The Dems know this and that’s why they’re starting to go crazy now, because an Obama victory is difficult to impossible without those two states.

Comment by tzada | 2008-09-13 15:23:36

Here in Jacksonville, Fl they had to move the planned event to a bigger building. It started out small and the last count was 6500. People here are so excited about McCain and Sarah. My signs go up as soon as they get in. Interesting note. My son lives in a mid size town in Florida. There has been not been one Obama sign to be seen. Nada Zero Poof

I don’t think Senator McCain can’t get online because of dexterity issues or a lack of aptitude on understanding how to open a website or send an email. He’s just not an active participant in communicating through the internet. A significant percentage of the population isn’t. They tend to use the internet only when they need to look something up, buy something, pay a bill or make travel arrangements They prefer to communicate through the phone or the old fashion way of writing a letter, placing it in an envelope, putting a stamp on it and mailing it. I see nothing wrong with that or that it indicates someone is out of touch with the real day workings of the world.

Senator McCain has a staff that keeps tabs on the blogs, manage his website, etc… So does Senator Obama. So does President Bush. Playing on the internet isn’t a hobby for Senator McCain, he prefers other leisure activities and using the phone and snail mail for communication. Big deal. I don’t think there will be any international incidents because Senator McCain isn’t adept at attaching his daughter’s graduation photo to an email to send out to all the world’s leaders.

I think the Obama campaign ad was a waste of money. I think the majority of the voters who have decided to vote for McCain don’t care if he surfs the net. It’s not a priority to them. Maybe it is to Senator Obama’s college kids, but it isn’t to 45 year old soccer moms and 65 year old retirees. Senator Obama won’t draw away Senator McCain supporters with the ad and it’s unlikely to be a deciding factor for the undecided either.

Comment by fluffy bunny | 2008-09-13 14:33:31

That’s the Obama campaign’s best case scenario, which you have done a nice job presenting here for the last couple of days. I tend to agree more with Glenn Reynolds over at Instapundit when he says:

Consider: In a single not-very-compelling ad calling McCain a clueless geezer who can’t even send email, the Obama campaign managed to draw attention to his war injuries again, to show that it doesn’t even know that the 2000 McCain campaign actually pioneered the insurgent Web tactics that Obama used in the 2008 primary, and to produce an ad that seems tailor-made to alienate voters more than a few years older than Obama, all without providing any actual reason to, you know, vote for Obama. That’s a combination of cluelessness, sloppiness, and narcissism — it’s clear they can’t conceive that McCain could have pioneered anything on the Web, and they’re probably too young to actually remember the 2000 election — that seems emblematic of where that campaign has been lately. Hubris coupled with poor execution is not a recipe for success.

The real bonus is that Obama can’t defend or explain the ad away at all. Either he is completely ignorant of the groundbreaking work the McCain campaign of 2000 did on internet fundraising and campaigning, or he and his ad team are too lazy and too arrogant to research basic facts behind this ad, or he knew full well why McCain doesn’t compose his own email or other typed correspondence and thought it was a good ad anyway.

EPIC FAIL

Comment by ziggy | 2008-09-13 14:43:11

The Obama people don’t need to explain away the ad. They only needs to hope that the republicans will attack Obama with a high-profile counter-ad, to add to the growing perception that they’ve got nothing but attack ads going for them.

Things aren’t always what they appear to be.

If you notice, McCain ads are not all emotional and personal like barky’s ads. McCain is a grown up…he’ll continue to put up serious ads about national security, the economy, energy, sprinkled with a few questioning obama’s associations and judgment….barky will be busy responding to his latest gaffe or trying to make it personal.

Comment by Monet | 2008-09-13 21:43:40

I doubt that the Obama campaign spent anytime researching Senator McCain’s record beyond votes for Iraq and taxes. They don’t appear to always do their homework.

They also don’t appear to realize the high tech industry that is in Arizona and that Senator McCain is well informed about the high tech industry and what it produces.

From what I can see, the Obama campaign decided not to go after voters over the age of 55. When you’re talking about raising the capital gain and death taxes, you’re not looking for votes for retirees. Have an AARP card and they don’t want you. They’re very youth oriented. Whether they considered if the ad would turn off people who rarely use the internet, I don’t think it matters. They don’t care if it does. At one time they thought they could win a landslide of states with the African American and under age 30 voters, now they’re planning for those demographics in a handful of states to win the election for them.

In reference to the above post by

Do you think perhaps the heavy drinking and weird behavior lately of Joe Biden could be his conscience getting to him for the illegal actions of his son while he was the Delaware Attorney General?

Do you think that both he and Obama are getting desperate because now that the polls are pointing away from Obama they are afraid the MSM might do an about face which they are so often prone to do?

The MSM might just use this juicy item to excuse their change of mind about “The One”.

Comment by pasmalltowngirl | 2008-09-13 14:57:31

Actually I think it is a staged event. Obama is tanking. So he needs Hillary to the rescue. He can’t make it seem like he made a huge mistake in selecting Biden. ( Also I believe that the only reason that he did pick Biden was because of a back room deal to keep L. Sinclair quiet.) So Biden has to do is role, acting the part. Then he can quietly step down, the MSM will praise Biden for saving the day by doing what was best for the party. Then they will all praise Hillary, showering hwer with flowers, hoping we are so gullible, Hoping that we will all fall in line, jump for joy and finally kiss the feet of “The One We Have All Been Waiting For”
Obama is a smart man, he knows exactly what he is saying and doing when he makes statements like “lipstick on a pig”, flipping Hillary. He knows when he makes those remarks that the GOP will lash out. Then he can cry and be the little victim again, the “One” who stands for change.
You know the saying - You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.

McCain was the first candidate to use the Internet to raise money for his campaign (2000)

Fundraising online is nothing new.

Web observers largely credit McCain’s 2000 campaign as the first presidential campaign to tap into big money online.

What began in 2000, was refined in the 2004 campaign, when former Vermont Governor Howard Dean’s campaign, using online groups to connect with web-based fundraising and support, raised millions from individual donors.

Btw, the article points out that Clinton’s site was the speed queen for online donations:

The 2008 presidential campaign website of Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y. is the fastest place to donate online, while the website of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill. is the slowest, according to Gomez’s test of the campaign websites.

“Barack Obama’s website takes ten times longer than Hillary Clinton’s website to go through in keep you waiting for that donation process — that’s a big difference,” said Poepsel.

The study found that, on average, the online donation process took 3.3 seconds for online contributors to Clinton’s website, but took 33 seconds for contributors of Obama’s campaign.

Now, who’s the cool guy and who is the bad copy?

ABC Busted On Hiding Sarah Palin’s Full Answers- Updated with abc news contarct url

NewsBusters has the detailed and a link to the original transcript, but a teaser of the type of
things ABC deliberately didn’t show the viewing public is below: (Contact Form to ABC below the post, in case some want to ask them why they cut out important portions of Palin’s answers)

Next we see that Palin was not nearly as hostile towards Russia as was presented in the edited interview:

GIBSON: Let me ask you about some specific national security situations.

PALIN: Sure.

GIBSON: Let’s start, because we are near Russia, let’s start with Russia and Georgia.

The administration has said we’ve got to maintain the territorial integrity of Georgia. Do you believe the United States should try to restore Georgian sovereignty over South Ossetia and Abkhazia?

PALIN: First off, we’re going to continue good relations with Saakashvili there. I was able to speak with him the other day and giving him my commitment, as John McCain’s running mate, that we will be committed to Georgia. And we’ve got to keep an eye on Russia. For Russia to have exerted such pressure in terms of invading a smaller democratic country, unprovoked, is unacceptable and we have to keep…

GIBSON: You believe unprovoked.

PALIN: I do believe unprovoked and we have got to keep our eyes on Russia, under the leadership there. I think it was unfortunate. That manifestation that we saw with that invasion of Georgia shows us some steps backwards that Russia has recently taken away from the race toward a more democratic nation with democratic ideals. That’s why we have to keep an eye on Russia.

And, Charlie, you’re in Alaska. We have that very narrow maritime border between the United States, and the 49th state, Alaska, and Russia. They are our next door neighbors. We need to have a good relationship with them. They’re very, very important to us and they are our next door neighbor.

GIBSON: What insight into Russian actions, particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of the state give you?

PALIN: They’re our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.

GIBSON: What insight does that give you into what they’re doing in Georgia?

PALIN: Well, I’m giving you that perspective of how small our world is and how important it is that we work with our allies to keep good relation with all of these countries, especially Russia. We will not repeat a Cold War. We must have good relationship with our allies, pressuring, also, helping us to remind Russia that it’s in their benefit, also, a mutually beneficial relationship for us all to be getting along.

We also see from Palin’s following remark, which was also edited out, that she is far from some sort of latter day Cold Warrior which the edited interview made her seem to be:

We cannot repeat the Cold War. We are thankful that, under Reagan, we won the Cold War, without a shot fired, also. We’ve learned lessons from that in our relationship with Russia, previously the Soviet Union.

We will not repeat a Cold War. We must have good relationship with our allies, pressuring, also, helping us to remind Russia that it’s in their benefit, also, a mutually beneficial relationship for us all to be getting along.

The portion that NewsBusters put in bold are whole segments of Palin’s answers that they just edited out and didn’t make available to the public.

All interviews are edited but the bias shown in how the interview was presented to the American public in relation to the actual answers that were given by Palin, shows an incredible amount of behind the scenes deliberation to show the public only what they wanted them to see instead of what the public wanted to see, which was all of Palin’s answers.

NewsBusters has much more information on removed segments of Sarah Palin’s answers.

Read the whole interview to see how ABC has tried to play the public.

I am adding the contact URL for ABC News, so people who see how much of Palin’s answers were deliberately hid from the viewing public, can ask them why they felt the need to hide Sarah Palin’s full answers from people that depended on the television interview to get the answers about Palin they were seeking.

. Now why would Charlie Gibs

It’s been a long campaign, but it really seems to me that this isn’t the first time I’ve heard this “John McCain doesn’t use e-mail” line from Obama’s campaign. I’m seem to recall Obama made the comment in several stump speeches. Does it ring as familiar to anyone else? I tried looking on you tube, but haven’t found anything yet.
