OBAMA AND THE CHICAGO MACHINE

Reading the commentary written by Dennis Byrne in today’s Chicago Tribune, Obama Sidesteps Reform in Illinois, might give you some perspective on how the political machine works in Chicago. Obama has been bamboozling his supporters from the day he said he would never consider running for President, but those of us who have seen this guy in action, KNEW he was lying through his wide smile.

This so called “change agent” is a master at hiding his true colors and the main stream media (i.e. MSNBC, ABC, and CNN) do all they can to be sure it stays hidden. In his article, Dennis Byrne started his commentary,

“For those of you who still cling to the fantasy that Barack Obama is “about change,” you should note how he, or his minions, want nothing to do with reforming politics in Illinois, perhaps the most corrupt state in the Union.”

He goes on to tell about how Obama was asked to step in and help get his political mentor, State Senator Emil Jones (D-Chicago), to get off the dime and move state legislation regarding ethics toward passage.

If you remember, I mentioned in a past post that I wrote, The Making of a Messiah, that Senator Emil Jones was the one who decided to make Obama a U.S. Senator when Obama was nothing more than a mere Illinois junior state senator who couldn’t get anyone to even look at his legislation, let alone take it seriously. He was quoted as saying to Cliff Kelley, a former Chicago alderman who is now the host of the city’s most popular black call-in radio program:

“Cliff, I’m gonna make me a U.S. Senator.”

“Oh, you are? Who might that be?”

“Barack Obama.”

Fast forward to the present, Senator Emil Jones–Obama’s kingmaker– is standing in the way of reform legislation, refusing to allow it to come to a vote before it finally dies. Jones is buddy-buddy with the corrupt Governor Rod Blagojevich (you might remember Rod’s name coming up in the Rezko trial), and it was Rod Blagojevich who used his veto power to change the legislation after it passed both houses. This gave Emil Jones the opportunity to kill it. The last thing Emil Jones and Rod Blagojevich want is reform and Obama is cut from the same cloth. The legislation we are talking about is simple and as Dennis Byrne pointed out, it would make illegal the widespread abuse called pay-to-play politics. Companies that do business with the state contribute to the state official in charge of ladling out contracts would be made illegal. Common sense ethics, right? The new law wouldn’t let you do it if you have more than $50,000 in state contracts. That alone leaves a huge loophole, but it’s better than nothing.

Why is this necessary? Because Rod Blagojevich made tons of money from state contractors. He would be the one most hurt by this new legislations which is why he vetoed it in the first place.

Cindi Canary, who is the director of Illinois Campaign for Political Reform actually believed that when Obama spoke about “change we can believe in”. She thought, who else would be better to ask for help than Barack Hussein Obama, aka Change Agent, to step in with a simple phone call to his friend and mentor, Senator Emil Jones, to get this bill back into session to get this law passed. That’s it…a 30 second phone call. Surely, Barack Obama will have time for that. He could do it when he’s sneaking off for a smoke or eating his waffles.

The answer Cindi Canary received from Barack Obama’s campaign…his usual double talk and flowery words about how he’s all for change and everyone needs to get on that unity train. Oh yes, if only Cindi Canary could just hold hands with Emil Jones and Rod Blagojevich and sing Kumbaya, the world will be a better place. In other words….”NO”, Barack Obama will not help.

How could this be, you may ask? It’s easy. He’s part of the Chicago machine and he wants to keep it that way. If he is elected President, the Chicago machine will go National. If you think Washington politics is dirty now…just wait, it’s going to get a lot dirtier. If Obama loses his bid in the election and has to go back to Illinois, he wants to make sure the Chicago machine will be there to greet him with open arms and plenty of cash for his next run at the Presidency.

Dennis said it better and nicer than I could, “Agent of change, my foot.”

BO’s unethical connections encompass not just the Chicago machine/Illinois combine, but also the hidden Ayers-Farrakan links that shaped his early career and entry into politics. If the entire story could be brought to light, it would turn millions of Americans off.

A friend sent me this list…

CHANGE CHICAGO STYLE

Body count.

In the last six months 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago, 221 killed in Iraq.

Sens. Barack Obama & Dick Durbin,
Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.,
Gov. Rod Blogojevich,
House leader Mike Madigan,
Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan (daughter of Mike),
Mayor Richard M. Daley (son of former Mayor Richard J. Daley)…..
the leadership in Illinois….. all Democrats.

Chicago is a combat zone. Of course they’re all blaming each other.
Can’t blame Republicans, there aren’t any!

State pension fund $44 Billion in debt, worst in country. Cook County (Chicago) sales tax 10.25% highest in country . (Look’em up if you want). Chicago school system one of the worst in country.

This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois.

He’s gonna ‘fix’ Washington politics?

Comment by pumapower | 2008-09-16 22:15:09

if barack keeps making fun of wasilla, mccain campaign should just throw those statistics out in an ad.

Comment by MaryPat | 2008-09-17 02:46:18

All of Obama’s political background in Chicago is documented in Freddoso’s book, which I highly recommend. It’s not a hit job like the Corsi book–thoroughly researched, with 35 pages of footnotes. If it were required reading for every voter, Barry would lose in a landslide.

It’s truly breathtaking what a fraud this guy is. He’s an ace operator, the penultimate political opportunist. People keep calling Sarah Palin “scary,” but Obama is the one who frightens the bejesus out of me.

Comment by Jackie | 2008-09-22 18:20:27

Those figures are deceptive. Murders have been steadily declining, with 435 murders in 2007. In 2000 there were 628. While still above the national average, Chicago has an average of 2.5% fewer deaths. The high crime rate began long before Obama was senator. The pension debt was incurred long before he took office as well.
Regarding state pensions, dating to the 1970s, state lawmakers pushed off the yearly payments they were supposed to make to cover the “normal costs” of pensions, or how much employees earned that year in benefits. These so-called holidays added up, and the debt multiplies over time. Regarding the sales tax in Chicago, remember there is no income tax in
Chicago. Revenue has to come from somewhere.

Note to Obama supporters:

If you put all your hopes and dream behind ANY lawyer and politician (which Obama is ONE of) and don’t expect to be screwed over every which way, then you need to check yourself into a mental hospital ASAP.

(Obots have so far had no reply to that comment. They naively believe he’s DIFFERENT!!!.)

Comment by Khan Krum | 2008-09-16 17:55:34

Amen to that, Mr. X. Let’s see here… we have a choice between two lawyers and two non-lawyers… um, that’s a really hard choice to make NOT.

Comment by Mr. X | 2008-09-16 18:00:54

And it’s not just that. You shouldn’t trust politicians anyhow… so you look at what they’ve done in the past so you know what they’ll do in the future. With Obama, it’s all Chicago politics as usual. As to McCain, everyone here is aware of the policy differences. With Obama, criticism is not allowed. Differences in opinion are branded as racism. I’ve never seen this kind of worshipping for a lawyer and politician.

Comment by Paul F. Villarreal | 2008-09-16 18:32:30

Obama is Mr. Quid Pro Quo, you scratch my back, I scratch yours. That is Chicago Politics, and Obama is all about that. Just ask Rezko.

John McCain, on the other hand, is about reform and actual change. So is Sarah Palin.

Here are two YouTube videos of McCain talking about the change that needs to come to Washington and Wall Street. The videos are of McCain’s rally in Tampa today where he addressed the current financial crisis, and what a McCain/Palin administration would do to fix America’s economic woes:

Bill and Hillary Clinton are lawyers and Bill had the greatest administration this country has ever seen and he created opportunities for every American and curtailed the corporate wealthy. He left office with an approval rating in the 70 percentile, which means he wasn’t only popular with Democrats but with Republicans as well. So don’t try to pin Oblahma’s weakness on the legal profession. Obama’s never seen the inside of a courtroom or ever practiced law. He’s a COMMUNITY ORGANIZER, don’t cha know?

Comment by Divine Democrat | 2008-09-16 19:06:47

This is true, Bill Clinton did leave office with a high rating. But Obama is NOT Bill Clinton and Bill and Hillary Clinton did a lot more than just a year or so of community organizing before Bill ran for President. So, please, don’t try to compare the two, you can’t.

Obama and his community organizing was nothing more than getting himself embedded into the Chicago machine politics scene.

Ok I will be more positive …

QWhen the MSM takes McCains comment about the economy being strong, and takes it out of context, and when the media takes Carly Fionas statement about McCain/Palin not ready to be president out of context, and when the media takes Palins interview and edits it to make her look like a naive warmonger, they are playing into our hands.

When the media makes 99% of their stories positive about Obama/Biden and negative about Palin/McCain they are playing into our hands.

When McCain lets Obama ridicule and mock him without responding by ridiculing him back, they are playing into our hands.

These tracking polls showing McCain dropping day by day are meaningless, we all know Americans are not stupid when it comes to picking presidents, we know that americans will be able to ignore the entire media push for obama, and they will see through the web of lies.

Americans dont want to see a candidate mocking another candidate, americans hunger for a candidate who is nice and above petty name calling.

We should hope that obama continues calling mccain old and out of touch, and just hope that mccain resists the temptation to say anything bad about obama.

A lesser candidate would have mentioned ayers, rezko or wright by now. They would have released the whitey tapes by now, but mccain is strong enough to know what real americans want.

Mccain knows to ignore the polls.

Why is the main stream media continueing to ignore the story about Barack Obama interfering in Iraq and trying to delay troop drawdowns till after the election?

Where is the pregnancy suit?

Comment by Katy | 2008-09-16 18:20:40

I was asking the same. Although there are articles poping up about it and there was an ad taken in NY times by private citizen.

Here is an extract:

The MSM has a choice: double down and risk extinction, ridicule and potential ostracism from the McCain team or try to play it straight. The debates will be telling in this regard. You never know: they might become savvier about covering their tracks via late night alterations: the blogosphere is always watching. As for readers and viewers, they have the power of the purse and the clicker which they are increasingly exercising. Some 69% of voters think the media is rooting for a candidate – one presumes that they are already discounting the sycophantic coverage of Obama.
But that still leaves Barack Obama trailing in the polls. You see, the MSM’s act (i.e. ridiculous hit pieces on McCain coupled with glowing, defenses of Obama and non-reputing of stories adverse to Obama) is played out on its own stage. Ultimately he is on his own. No amount of Chris Matthews’s commentary is likely to convince Americans that Sarah Palin is a rube. No matter how many “Cindy McCain took drugs” stories above the fold, Americans still are inclined to evaluate the character and record of John McCain on its merits.
In the end the voters, and not the media, will elect a Presidential ticket. If they fail in their mission to revive the candidacy of their favorite son, the major newspapers and television networks will have to justify their own conduct, repair reputations and mend fences and convince news consumers they still matter. Good luck with that.

Obama Sued in Philadelphia Federal Court (Constitutionally Ineligible for the Presidency)
| 8/21/08 | Jeff Schreiber

Posted on Thursday, August 21, 2008 5:00:24 PM by LdSentinal

http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2065855/posts

A prominent Philadelphia attorney and Hillary Clinton supporter filed suit this afternoon in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Illinois Sen. Barack Obama and the Democratic National Committee. The action seeks an injunction preventing the senator from continuing his candidacy and a court order enjoining the DNC from nominating him next week, all on grounds that Sen. Obama is constitutionally ineligible to run for and hold the office of President of the United States.
Phillip Berg, the filing attorney, is a former gubernatorial and senatorial candidate, former chair of the Democratic Party in Montgomery (PA) County, former member of the Democratic State Committee, and former Deputy Attorney General of Pennsylvania. According to Berg, he filed the suit–just days before the DNC is to hold its nominating convention in Denver–for the health of the Democratic Party.

“I filed this action at this time,” Berg stated, “to avoid the obvious problems that will occur when the Republican Party raises these issues after Obama is nominated

3- Rezko Gate?

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-tony-rezko-sentence-delay-webaug21,0,7342747.story

Rezko’s sentencing date has now been pushed back to at least October 28, 2008, which is less than a week before the November 4, 2008, General Election.
Additionally, “Rezko’s attorneys, led by Joseph Duffy, now have until Sept. 19 to file motions,” Coen wrote.
The power (and memory) of a verdict in early September would have had some time to dissipate by the end of October. A verdict at the end of October will continue to roll and tumble in the media spin cycle right up to the very day when voters step into the voting booth. Add to this the possibility of numerous motions reported by the Chicago press, things look to be getting interesting.
Tony Rezko will not be forgotten quickly enough for Obama.

That’s exactly right, Steve. Obama is up to his eyeballs in corrupt politicians and dirty money. He would do anything for anyone who would give him campaign money and I’m sure he’s made plenty of promises to “pay them back” at the appropriate time. If Obama is Prez, I can guarantee you that he will give Rezko a “get out of jail free card”.

You know what’s ironic? The big knock against Obama from the Clinton campaign during the primaries was that Obama wasn’t tough enough to bear up under the Republican attack machine… that he would get eaten alive by the Republicans.

Now, the narrative you Clinton supporters push is that Obama is a political mafioso, a Chicago-machine thug who plays dirty.

Contradiction much?

Am I wrong in supposing that you lot will say anything and everything to destroy Barack Obama personally? And that the only reason why is… because he beat Hillary?

To me, this is a sad statement about our politics.

Had everything “arranged” for him to enter a particular office. He’s what you call a front man. Just a puppet who has to play a part and he can’t even talk extemporaneously without forgetting what he’s saying. What part of crack-head do you not understand?

Comment by tillthen | 2008-09-16 18:50:32

Take note, many of us at this blog are not necessarily Clinton people. I think many are either Republican or Independents who could be OK with Hillary in the White House, but never Obama. We are fearful for our country and it has nothing to do with personal vengeance. He is simply a fraud and your attempt to color this effort as payback for Hillary does many of us a disservice. I don’t consider myself political, but very much American, and I see Obama as a POS whose allegiance to America to be very doubtful. I truly fear him.

Maybe the good guys could find a benefactor with lots of cash to spend to get dirt on the principal agents of the MSM. Wouldn’t that be fun! Outing the scum in some embarrassing way showing them what vetting is really about. Jus’ dreamin’. Its the exacerbating frustration.

With everything they have on this guy, I shudder to think he would even DARE run for President again. This man needs to be investigated…NOT inaugurated.

Good slogan.
Investigated… NOT Inuagurated

Comment by Felix Rodriguez | 2008-09-16 18:46:10

The plan from the beginning was to tap into “white guilt” and AA pride. That and the fact that this was an election a Dem could not lose.

They forgot to take into consideration the intelligence of the “bitter” folk with guns and bibles.

Comment by Diana L. C. | 2008-09-16 18:55:36

And all those Hillary supporters he claimed would come around though he knew his supporters wouldn’t come around to her. I guess he was just wrong there.

I saw a great cartoon yesterday…a really big sow labeled MEDIA was applying fresh lipstick for her date with BO!
And PLEASE don’t even hint that this charlatan will be on a national ticket again!
I have serious doubts that our country will make it through this round!

I have been wondering all these months, where is Patrick Fitzgerald. Why do you not hear more about Blagovitch or details of the crookedness surrounding Obama and his ties to them. Up until the RBC’s cheaters forum “Bless their little hearts” I still thought there was hope Hillary might get a fair shake and a chance at being our nominee. My biggest fear is that McCain and the Repubs will underestimate the slimeball, Obama, and he will slither his way into the White House. As some of you have noted, Obama has everything in his favor, the news media, even FOX seems to be afraid to go after him very hard since the Rev. Wright showing by Hannity, now there is nothing but silence. Anything they do, it’s like a little baby slap.

Rezko’s sentencing has been delayed until Oct. 28. I read REZKOWATCH at the Sun-Times, people say Rezko is talking to the FEDS, maybe he will turn RAT. Rezko saw how much time Abramoff got, 4 years, and he ratted out everyone he knew, he would have got at least 10 if he didn’t RAT, Rezko kmows that too, and then Rezko still has more charges for corruption and then trouble in Vegas for $200,000 in bad debt, that is a crime out there.

Comment by NoTrollZone | 2008-09-16 19:44:23

i don’t get it. so rezko is going to wait until oct 28 to spill? If he’s ratted already, why the hell isn’t Fitzgerald moving forward against
Blagojevich? WTF FITZGERALD!!!!!!

Comment by Amalia | 2008-09-16 22:01:42

is there any material in the transcripts of the cases and the related documents that does not lead to indictment but is damaging to
Obama? can we state these things succinctly? there have been long articles on this site, and there is one woman(whose name escapes me) who has the goods but it is WAY too long.

i don’t fault Fitzgerald. indictment may not be possible. that does not mean they did not do bad, nasty looking things.

we need to succinctly expose them with a repeatable narrative.

Rezko is between a rock and a hard place. He is probably holding out to see if Obama wins the election. If Obama wins, the investigation will be over. Bye, bye Patrick Fitzgerald. If Obama loses then Rezko could agree to testify in return for a shorter sentence.

JM08 the fact that Mac can lead obama and has been dead even all summer with the msm in the tank says alot about John McCain. And the american poeple.
They will drop heavy hitters on obama, trust me. Right now it is just a wait for the debates. And trust me, the mccain camp knows what it is doing. It has remained even and ahead of obama agianst enormous odds, all of the signs pointed to a democratic landslide, but McPalin has is hanging tough and is ripping him up state by state. Now, the republican base is fired up and has something to be excited about it makes the fight even harder for obama. The media has lost credible, most poeple KNOW they openly pushing for obama. That fact alone is disturbing to americans. All mccain has to do is hold bush’s map from 04 and that looks pretty easy at the moment. Except for Iowa. But he can have Iowa and mccain still gets 281. He could lose colorado to and still have 272. Mccain will take ohio and florida bank on it. PA looks more and more likely to. Which if PA or Michigan can flip that spells BLOW OUT.
Instead of colorado, if McCain even lost VA and Iowa from Bushs map he still wins.
McCains map is easier than obama’s due to demographics. Certain states and areas obama just will not play.

ALSO, JM08 is not a troll guys. Stop calling him that. He is just a bit concerned(To much!!)

If you can get past the self indulgence of the author, this is a great read. An oldie but goody:

Anyone still have the link to the Illinois union speech where bobo left them stuck out and wouldn’t lift a finger to help the union keep the jobs at home?

Last I heard today they are trying to drag them back in to finish budget legislation that is shutting down Lincoln sites (and other problems) that is really pissing people off.

Soon to be Prisoner Blagojevich is just 2 or 3 Dem. signatures away from impeachment being put on the ballot.

Another reason to put off the legislative session until after the elections.

We are not amused in Illinois.

Quite honestly, voter fraud had to be the reason Blago got elected for this current term. He is hated by everyone as far as I can tell.

It was clear to me as soon as he was elected Governor, he was showboating to run for President. I believe he was first choice or the plan was to run him then run Obama later. Too much scandal began attaching itself to Blago, so they had to go to Plan B–Obama.

As far as Fitz goes, would make sense to me to wait and see what he can glean from Rezko before he proceeds on anyone else.

Fitz has never lost and put our last governor in the pokey, where he’s keeping the top bunk ready for Blago.

He’s also known to keep his information close, so it’s very hard to even guess what’s going on with his investigations.

The NY Times ad placed by Essoff is so quaint yet webiste seeks support for Hillary debt reduction, this is the gal who misremembers bullets boucing off the Tarmac and would say anything to be elected president as would John McSame, the turnabout candidate for Oil Companies and Wars forever.(and dirty divorces)
Then we see the website seeking support for Sad Sarah, the future grandma who does not support sex ed in schools or even at home but would rather parade her pregnant teenager around on National TV to get elected while espousing bridges to nowhere and then unespousing them all in one year.
Then (LOL til it hurts) we see the Times ad calling up the national hall of shame of Talk( hah) radio,
the Drug addict and sex phone addict and mentally-ethically unbalanced of Fox “News” as paragons.
Now I know where you are coming from.Stay there.

Why is the media not mentioning the sleeping around with his students by John McSame while his wife stayed home and raised three kids and his sleeping with his beer heiress who financed his political career prior to any mention of divorce to his firs wife.
And then there’e the Keating Five scandal that makes McSame look sleazy or sleazier.HOWCUM?
