Email Hackery, Working for the little guy, who’s going neg?, uniter means bipartisan, targeting voters, and a list of candidates’ legislative work

1)If you’ve followed the Sarah Palin email story at all, you know an email account registered to her was hacked and personal information spread around the net. (BTW, I know a few people who refuse to have an email account because of this very thing. )

Anyway, Michelle Malkin (I know, I know) has an interesting piece today. Someone explains exactly how all this happened. It is interesting from a technical standpoint - and a warning to use good passwords - but also from a psychological one. The hacker himself said he found nothing of interest in the email.

Please note a warning for language. Also, the story is a little involved and I cannot adequately excerpt it. I do suggest you read the explanation to see how this kind of thing is done and why using a good password will help you out.

I missed the original incident, but monitored the discussion and repostings afterward to see what I could learn about what had happened and who was responsible.
There are several misconceptions and errors in most accounts of this story, including your post. Most significantly, the perpetrator(s) were not members of an infamous group of hackers.
——————-

Sarah Palin’s email account was hacked by one person. Not a group.
This person read her emails, then posted the username and password on /b/. This happened at about 4 in the morning on Tuesday. The idea was that the sea of Anonymous /b/tards would download the emails, upload porn, and cause all manner of mischief. Anonymous is not a group of hackers. Anonymous is more like gremlins. They are hyperactive adolescents in search of amusement and joy, which they often get by upsetting people and making messes. That’s what was happening here. Anonymous did not hack the account. A hacker tried to throw Sarah Palin to Anonymous. Not all of Anonymous was having it. One person threw a crowbar in the works. Other /b/tards were displeased to miss a chance at the lulz. The moderators stepped in. The thread was deleted.

Hey gang, change those passwords. Use a mix of numbers and letters at least without including phone numbers, birthdates or zip codes.

2)At The Week, David From has an interesting take on the candidates and the current financial crisis. First, he reminds us that the crisis isn’t bad for everyone.

Is it 1932 yet?

That’s what many Democrats are hoping! In the wake of this week’s market turmoil, you see smiles on the faces of three groups of people: short sellers, vulture buyers, and Democratic strategists. Wall Street has laid an egg, as Variety famously quipped in 1929, and that means that happy days will soon be here again.

———-
Crisis does not bring out the best in Barack Obama. His instinct is to equivocate and temporize. We saw that tendency in August, when the Russians invaded Georgia and Obama had to work through a gamut of soft-line stances before arriving at the same position that John McCain had announced immediately.
——————

As we shift from crisis management to the tough work of devising a longer-term response to the mortgage debacle, we’ll be reminded of another big fact about Obama. He is a classic big-city welfare-state politician. He has lots of ideas about how to share wealth created by others—but very few about how to ensure that wealth is created in the first place.

In attributing the mess on Wall Street to “Bush McCain” policies, Obama omits a key point: the specific policy underlying the mess is one he has enthusiastically endorsed throughout his career—the use of public loan guarantees to stimulate private home construction.

As a state legislator, Obama famously championed “public-private partnerships” to renovate slum housing. On a very small scale, he was advocating the same approach that has stuck the taxpayer with liability for uncounted tens or hundreds of billions of dollars in Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac obligations. It didn’t work any better in Chicago than it worked in Washington and New York.

[It] is probably right that the novelty and charm of the Sarah Palin selection will likely fade. When it does, voters will confront again the same choice they have faced since early summer: Between the old veteran and the young neophyte, between the would-be reformer and the product of the Chicago machine, between the moderate conservative and the candidate whose core beliefs nobody seems to know, including very possibly the candidate himself.

The usual rules suggest that the challenger ought easily to win this election. But when voters meet this actual challenger, the polls suggest they react exactly as the challenger himself does in a crisis: They hesitate.

I have been wary of public/private partnerships and if this is what Obama is proposing, I’m leery. It always seems as if the public part gets to pay the bills while the private part walks away. Rezko, anyone?

3) The NYPost has an angry piece today about Charles Rangel. As more information drips out about his finances, he looks less and less like a person to trust with any financial responsibility. The writer starts by saying this year was supposed to be a great one for Democrats.

That was before Rangel launched his “Monument to Me - The Rangel Center at CUNY” - with your money and greedily grabbed four rent-stabilized apartments, using a system designed to help less fortunate New Yorkers from getting squeezed out onto the street.

That was before the most powerful committee chairman in the country got caught hiding from Congress and the public the $75,000 in rental income from his Caribbean slice of beachside paradise.

And, of course, that was before the highest tax-writer in the land got caught cheating on his taxes on that income he now claims he didn’t know about.

Try telling people in this economy that you just discovered a loose $75,000 you didn’t know you’d made. For most people, that’s called the lottery.

Again, a quote from Andrew Bacevich in an interview with Bill Moyers:

. . . one of the great lies about American politics is that Democrats genuinely subscribe to a set of core convictions that make Democrats different from Republicans.

Rangel is one Democrat who has sworn to be different from other politicians. The man looking after the little guy, etc. Well, as RRRA might say, whoop-de-frikkin-doo. It’s worth remembering that when Republicans commit adultery, we all smirk because that is supposed to be the party of “family values,” and those adulterers deserve it. But it is also true that Democrats claim to be the party of the “little guy,” and when its members deliberately line their own pockets at the expense of the little guy, well, they are betraying their principals as well.

If they have any to begin with. I’m thinking Bacevich is right and we can only look at the individual in question. Oh, and btw? Rangel has parking problems too. . .

4)WaPo has a story about campaign advertising. A study out today shows that Obama has been using more negative advertising than McCain since the end of the Republican convention.

Despite perceptions that Sen. John McCain has spent more time on the attack, Sen. Barack Obama aired more negative advertising last week than did the Arizona Republican, says a study released yesterday.

Seventy-seven percent of the Illinois Democrat’s commercials were negative during the week after the Republican National Convention, compared with 56 percent of the spots run by McCain.

Ken Goldstein, who directed the study by the Wisconsin Advertising Project, based at the University of Wisconsin, says the pattern was a reversal from earlier months, in which McCain’s advertising was consistently more negative than Obama’s.

A straightforward article, it goes on to talk about what states both campaigns are buying air time in. The author also says the campaign is shaping up to be a very familiar one - with familiar battleground states and methods.

I think it will be interesting, after the fact, to see how Obama’s plan of using non-traditional methods played out. At this point, it’s easy to see that those methods did not fundamentally change the outlines of the race. But I wonder what the impact ultimately will be?

5) USAToday has an op-ed where they say McCain is a better “uniter” than Obama.

Social Security and health care remain unreformed, and whether the next president is Republican John McCain or Democrat Barack Obama, he’ll need help from members of the other party to address these and other pressing issues. So it’s reasonable to ask whether either of them — both self-styled change agents who tout their ability to cross political lines — have shown they can do this.

McCain, in Congress for 26 years to Obama’s four, has the longer record of producing bipartisan alliances on tough issues. He has bucked his party again and again to do just that — on immigration, federal judges and campaign finance, to name three on which he enraged many Republicans by defying the party position and working with Democrats. McCain-the-maverick has reverted to party orthodoxy on taxes and other issues this year, which will put him in a bind if elected: Would he stick with those new positions, or compromise with the Democratic Congress he’d likely be working with?

As McCain points out on the campaign trail, Obama has a much thinner record of bucking his own party. With the exception of tough fights for ethics reforms in the Illinois Senate and in Washington — where he angered Democratic colleagues by insisting on the disclosure of lobbyists who bundle campaign donations — Obama has rarely challenged party dogma on the sort of big, contentious issues he’d face as president. As a U.S. senator, he has taken liberal Democratic positions on most issues. Studies by Congressional Quarterly show Obama has voted with his party almost 97% of the time, vs. about 85% for McCain.

6) Bloomberg has a story about how the Democrats can target swing voters. Interesting if you are a wonk in this area.

Ickes, a Democratic media consultant and former Clinton adviser, has spent four years and $15 million building Catalist, a database that scores 200 million Americans according to their likelihood to vote for party candidates. Illinois Senator Obama, 47, is one of his biggest clients.

“We have lost because we did not have the technical capability of finding voters that we needed to find and get them out to vote,” Ickes said.

The model is VoterVault, a 12-year-old store of voter information that gave Republicans the edge in 2000 and 2004. In 2000, Bush lost the popular vote, though he carried the election by winning Florida by a margin of 537 votes out of more than 5.8 million cast. The 2004 race was equally close, with Iowa, New Mexico and even Ohio decided by less than 1 percent of the vote.
————–

Catalist collects and stores millions of pieces of information from public records and commercial sources. In addition to voting rolls and tax information, it also has data about voters’ magazine subscriptions and their cars. Campaigns also contribute e-mails, cell-phone numbers and even times when people are likely to be home.

Ickes, 69, said that by using Catalist the Obama campaign is able to generate data as detailed as lists of swing voters who are home in the afternoon in a six-block neighborhood in Cleveland, Ohio. The list can even suggest which voters would be receptive to a pitch based on Obama’s “change” theme, and which may be more interested in his health-care or energy policies.
—————
VoterVault is owned and operated by the Republican National Committee while Catalist is a for-profit private enterprise.

You know, in a way, it’s no wonder our privacy laws have gotten so weak.

Market Meltdown Cont’d [Jonah Goldberg]
I’m getting a lot of email thanking for linking to that City Journal piece. Here’s one reader’s reaction:

Just read that 2000 City Journal piece, and it’s quite intriguing.

I think most would agree that the housing collapse is driving this financial meltdown, and it’s quite possible that the low-income, “affordable housing” CRA shakedown fueled that collapse. Low-income housing has been a signature issue of Senator Obama’s career, and his ties to the shady Chicago machine absolutely require the same kind of scrutiny as, say, Ms. Palin’s pregnant daughter.

Now let’s summarize with campaign spin: left-wing activists (er, “community organizers”) extort trillions from our financial system to develop low-income housing (and fund political graft along the way), ultimately destabilizing our entire economy when the real estate bubble bursts. Obama has been involved in this scheme from the ground up, from securing funds in his community organizer days to doling them out as a Chicago legislator, along the way making connections with ACORN (whom he now uses as an arm of his campaign’s “get-out-the-vote” efforts, despite the groups troubling record of voter fraud), and Rezko (who made millions off of developing low-income housing, and just coincidentally was one of Obama’s biggest backers). This is not change I believe in.

McCain (and Bush, for that matter) were on the right side of this housing crises, while Obama was squarely in the mix helping to create it. Obviously the financial failure is much too big to lay at Obama’s feet, but the contrast between the candidates on this issue couldn’t be any more clear. McCain *has* to make this his primary message on the economy, and take away Obama’s last remaining perceived strength. If Obama is effectively linked to this market meltdown, game over.

Haven’t you noticed that Republicans always screw everything up, then blame the Democrats? ;-)

They were in charge for six years, and now we’re headed for the second great depression. Only a Republican could think this was a coincidence!

What we need is another FDR, not a neocon like the Baminator.

Comment by Firefly | 2008-09-18 12:37:20

McCain is not your average republican.

And obama IS your average corrupt, dishonest, radical-terrorist-criminal-loving Chicago politician whose only purpose is the line the pockets of the rich elite. His mantra: lie all you want to, all you need to, to bamboozle and con and shame and strong-arm both the elite and the bitter into putting you in a position to take their country - and all their money - and all their “hope” - and all their future.

Comment by jwrjr | 2008-09-18 13:24:17

And Obama is as far away from FDR as it is possible to be.

Comment by Deke | 2008-09-18 15:21:03

Absolutely correct. Obama is a rejection of traditional FDR politics and policies. Although I disagree with alot of McCain’s positions he is not Bush and has a track record of moderation and reconciliation and has proven he can work with democrats. I don’t know what Obama is. His positions are generally very fuzzy and lack specifics and where he does take a position he backtracks and says people don’t understand what he means. He has not proven to me he believes in the separation of church and state, campaign finance reform, the right to privacy, and his position on Iraq. But the most troubling is his support and expansion of the use of private contractors in Iraq.

Obama is a Democrat in name only.

Comment by lark | 2008-09-18 12:24:00

But lets not get this wrong on what’s important. Like I said in the last thread, this is Bush’s fault. Low income housing was the most important initiative Bush had to shore up the economy after the recession brought up by the burst of the dotcom bobble.

Greespan talked Bush into keeping him with the mandate of surging the SERVICE SECTOR economy as a counter to the recessionary deficit of the industrial sector; i.e. the outsourcing of America’s industries. Bush knew, and Greenspan too that this surge had an upper limit and they also let the horses loose by pushing for subprime loans. Bush has many times encouraged subprimes in order to keep the economy showing positive growth, and to collect more money for the Treasury in taxes.

The captains of the SERVICE SECTOR (with good reasons) thought (with good reason) that the U.S.A. owes to them a debt of gratitude. After all, the entire economy was growing thanks to them. My emphasis on my own writing.

The whole country is in trouble because it allow itself to de-industrialize. Why? Again an emphasis on regulation. Too much regulation and it is difficult to make money with any industry.

Bush I is also at fault because he was the lead in untying China’s controlled economy.

What will happen to our country, I don’t know.

I think Mrs. Palin is the answer. Return to a resource oriented economy, exploiting America’s natural resources for our own good and re-industrializing America by employing Americans to rebuild our industries.

Comment by Kal | 2008-09-18 13:23:43

And treat the public resources as something that belongs to everyone, outsource management but keep public ownership of profits, reinvest in public goods, and improve the quality of life literally from the ground up.

Calling an Honest Dem [Kathryn Jean Lopez]
As noted in “The Corner” and elsewhere, that Obama Spanish ad is really beyond the pale of fact and common sense. It’s a shame someone who supports Obama doesn’t come out and denounce the blatant, insulting dishonesty of the ad.

As an aside, McCain and Palin just went OFF on Obama in their Cedar Rapids, Iowa, event. I mean, RUGGED extremely tough and to the point criticisms right at him/his ego/his persona.

A VERY good sign that McCain has shaken off the fugue…

Take care,

Comment by Kal | 2008-09-18 13:25:39

I’m sure he’d love to siphon that money off to his crooked pals and stick Americans with their own retirement bills via ‘tax free retirement savings’ or some such rightwing nonsense.

That’s certainly where his tax advisors are taking him.

I’m in Florida, we received 3 copies of this DVD in the mail, it was sent to all registered voters in my household.

Obsession - Radical Islam’s War Against the West.

It’s a real wake-up call as to how determined extreme Islamic radicals are about destroying the West, including any Muslims who disagree with them.

It shows how Arab TV conditions kids by training them with cartoon shows.
I saw little, beautiful girls, 5-6 years old screaming, with tears in their eyes, about how much they want to kill infidels and die as Jihad martyrs. Their childhoods are being taken from them.

The film also shows how many organized groups are training Jihad suicide bombers (rows and rows of them in military formation, starpped with bomb vests), in several different countries. Including Arab-British Muslims born and raised in London yet vowing to destroy the country the live in.

The film stresses that this is NOT the common belief of all Muslims.

However, even if this radical fringe represenst a mere 1% of the 1.5 BILLION Muslims worldwide, that 150-million training future generations.

Obama is in denial about this. We can’t afford 4-8 years of ignoring this issue.

Like McCain says, we can’t keep sending our oil dollars to nations whose citizens want to destroy us.

For $5 you can watch it online:

The Clarion Fund — the group that made the movie — sent it to registered voters of both parties. It’s been in the news.

I’m in Palm Beach County, Florida.

Didn’t receive this video?

I also read an article on AOL about how Jewish voters in Florida were getting calls asking them questions regarding Obama and ties to Muslim extremists and if that would change their minds about voting for him?

I don’t think McCain would be behind these things but I wonder if some other group is.

I heard that Obama’s Jewish supporters here were having a hard time selling him to their communities.

Unfortunately I have many Jewish relatives and customers in my business that are going to vote for him and don’t want to hear anything negative!

Obama has run the dirtiest campaign in the history of America. He’s a bad guy. Period. Who are these idiots voting for him? Why don’t they just move to Cuba and leave decent, hardworking Americans who love this country alone? Obama’s a joke. Beyond the lack of experience, can you people REALLY vote for someone who pulled the treasonous stunt with the Iraqi Foreign Minister? Can you say FEDERAL CRIME? WTF does Obama think he is? President? That’s NOT going to happen. Never. All I can say to the people who are stupid enough to vote for Obama…good luck with that. I won’t live here if God forbid he wins and neither will many of my friends and family. He’s a dangerous, scary guy and I blame the press for the ignorance of American voters. If people knew the truth, they’d deport the traitor. God bless McCain and Palin. And God BLESS (NOT DAMN) America!

Telling people to get ‘in the face of their neighbors.’

This man is such a nasty worm.

Inciting people to violence through a underhand way. People who follow that advise will end up arrested. What an irresponsible thing to say.

I think that comes from the time he was in Kenya helping with the elections there. He thinks we are in Africa or want us to behave that way.

He likes to point his finger, but never lifted a finger.

Outstanding. Lets go Sarah.

But PUMA knows better than Sarah. We know that Barack Obama lifted one finger. The middle finger to mock Hillary.

It is so scary when you see that people are ignoring the facts on this man. Everything he is doing is being ignored by the MSM, and that, dear americans, is scary. Here he breaks the law by whispering to the Iraq government about halting the GIs from coming home. Have you seen this in the news? No. Is Fox going to report it? Yes. But, Fox cannot carry these fact checking 100%. What happen to Media Matters? I thought this blog agency was for the people? Zob polls come out the other day with Mccain leading in most of the grassroots states. Sean from Fox points it out. A democrat guy states to Sean that these are lies. Next day, Zob polls come out showing Obama ahead. It is shameful what has happen to our beautiful country. It is shameful that these liberals can call themselves americans. I agree with Lady R- that the central must win and the extreme right and left must fail. Mccain/Palin 08- our only choice for sanity.

listen everyone, if you want obama defeated VOLUNTEER!!
Call the McCain/Palin campaign in your area or Republican HQ.
I consider myself a republican now but i am not changing registration until after the election.
The republicans will welcome you with open arms. The Republicans need as many volunteers as possible.
If your a 3rd party supporter i ask you to reconsider. Voting a 3rd party will not help defeat obama.
Volunteer, lick envelopes, knock on doors. and make calls.
We need to work for mccain the way alot of us worked for clinton.
Look at it like you are volunteering for Hillary’s bid in 2012. Because if McCain does not win there will be no bid in 2012.

I agree 100%. Once the radical left seizes power, it won’t take any chances about losing it. The inner cities will conveniently go up in flames, or worse, and the election will be “postponed.”

Here’s what one Obama supporter thinks of America.

Dallas Mavericks’ Josh Howard disrespects national anthem
In a video posted on YouTube, the swingman is shown at Allen Iverson’s charity flag football game in July. When the national anthem is being sung, various participants are shown mugging for the camera. When the camera gets to Howard, he says: ” ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ is going on. I don’t celebrate this [expletive]. I’m black.”
Howard goes on to make a difficult-to-discern comment that includes a reference to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Metro State Prof Investigated For Palin Assignment

Metro State College is investigating a professor who asked students to write an essay critical of Republican vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin. One student said the instructor singled out Republican students in the class and allowed others to ridicule them.

“I was shocked, I was holy cow, this is just an open door for him to discuss politics with us,” said Jana Barber, a student in the class.

Barber shared the first class assignment with CBS4. Instructor Andrew Hallam asked students to write an essay to contradict what he called the ‘fairy tale image of Palin’ presented at the Republican National Convention.

“What the faculty’s responsibility is to provide opportunity for critical thinking and civic engagement so bringing something of relevancy into the classroom was the faculty’s goal,” said Cathy Lucas, spokeswoman for Metro State. “Should he have broadened it and included all the political figures, yes.”

Metro State officials are investigating claims of bias, harassment and bullying.

Hallam declined an interview with CBS4. He has revised the assignment.

Always use a strong password for any online account–that includes e-mail and bank accounts. A strong password includes letters (uppercase and lowercase), numbers, and symbols. These can be hard to remember so you use letters that are easy only for you to remember. For example, use the first letter of the names of every pet you’ve ever had interspersed with symbols: Rover, Sparky, Muffin, Cottonball, is truly Gypsy would give you something like this: R#s*m*C&G5.

This hacking is truly despicable. But just as bad is websites like Gawker posting the screen shots of the email. They should be prosecuted as accomplices to the perpetrators of this invasion of privacy. Have they no ethics, no humanity? Is this what liberals have become? My sense of utter disappointment and outrage is indescribable. Just when I think these attacks on Palin can’t get any worse, something more awful comes along.

Thank god for Larry and SusanPC and their group of dedicated bloggers. Without them I’d have nowhere on the web to go to get a dose of sanity. So thanks, Larry and Susan, et al., for all that you do.

Comment by Docelder | 2008-09-18 13:31:51

I don’t know what gawker thought they were getting from this… but whatever it was it won’t buy a lot of $400 an hour federal court attorney time. Whoever guessed her password until they got it right left a trail. They will be wearing an orange jumpsuit on national TV very soon.

Jim Geraghty:
Racism: Noun, Common Synonym For Opposition to Barack Obama
The message is coming through loud and clear:

CNN’s Jack Cafferty:

The differences between Barack Obama and John McCain couldn’t be more well-defined. Obama wants to change Washington. McCain is a part of Washington and a part of the Bush legacy. Yet the polls remain close. Doesn’t make sense…unless it’s race.

The Youngstown Vindicator:

“Race — that’s the only reason people in the Valley won’t vote for him,” said state Rep. Thomas Letson of Warren, D-64th, about Barack Obama, his party’s presidential nominee. “There are 1,000 reasons to vote for Obama and one reason why you won’t — race.”

“Staunch Republicans” who make up 35 percent to 40 percent of the population would never vote for a Democrat regardless of race, Letson said.

It is the independents, the “swing voters” and Democrats who are or will support Republican John McCain who are the “racists,” Letson and state Rep. Robert F. Hagan of Youngstown, D-60th, said.

Dick Meyer, NPR:

Similarly, many people felt McCain’s famous ad that called Obama a celebrity like Paris Hilton was subliminally racist, subtly playing on racist impulses that fear black men with white women, or that preyed on the idea that black men succeed only in celebrity arenas like sports and music.

Obama surrogate, Kansas governor Kathleen Sebelius:

“I think the notion that, ‘By the way, have any of you noticed that Barack Obama is part African-American?’ That may be a factor. All of the code language, all that doesn’t show up in polls, and that may be a factor for some people.”

Four years of this, folks!

This is from another PUMA site, and it upsets me. Looks like everyone is out to lynch Palin.

In stunningly self-centered, cruel fashion, Nicholas Provenzo, writer for the Center for the Advancement of Capitalism suggests that Sarah Palin’s decision to give birth to a child with Down Syndrome, is a financial burden that others are forced to suffer with.

Quote:
Like many, I am troubled by the implications of Alaska governor and Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s decision to knowingly give birth to a child disabled with Down syndrome. Given that Palin’s decision is being celebrated in some quarters, it is crucial to reaffirm the morality of aborting a fetus diagnosed with Down syndrome (or by extension, any unborn fetus)—a freedom that anti-abortion advocates seek to deny.

Quote:
A parent has a moral obligation to provide for his or her children until these children are equipped to provide for themselves. Because a person afflicted with Down syndrome is only capable of being marginally productive (if at all) and requires constant care and supervision, unless a parent enjoys the wealth to provide for the lifetime of assistance that their child will require, they are essentially stranding the cost of their child’s life upon others.

We have to use every resource we have to insure defeat. We number in the millions. There is one patriot now in Pennsylvania doing more than his share. We have to donate our time and money.
Defeat them, shame them and jail them if necessary.

The sheer arrogance of the DNC and the MSM says it all. I say PUSH BACK.

Comment by McCain/Palin: Reaganomics Redux | 2008-09-18 13:58:17

How can anyone honestly believe McCain & Palin are competent to deal with the economic crisis?

McCain, after all, is a Reagan Republican. He proudly proclaims himself to be just that.

Reaganomics, anybody? We know what it is and we know its results, because we’ve seen it in action for 20 years during the administrations of Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, and George W. Bush.

The pitch is always the same: They’ll balance the budget through reform in Washington and a war on wasteful spending; they’ll lower taxes on business and the wealthy, stimulating investment and innovation; the resultant economic growth will create new wealth, which will trickle down to the rest of us.

What we got each time was over-stimulation of the economy at the cost of record federal deficits and a skyrocketing national debt, inflation, and wealth that rose upward instead of trickling downward. The pledge to eliminate “wasteful spending” didn’t materialize, or took the form of cuts in social programs, infrastructure investment, or the selective disempowerment of regulatory agencies.

So, McCain is a “proud Reagan Republican”? Well, that I can believe. There’s the same pledge to balance the budget, coupled with the same intention to cut taxes on the wealthy and corporations. The same argument is advanced that this will stimulate the economy, encourage innovation, create new jobs, etc etc. There’s the same theory that prosperity above will trickle down to the rest of us. There’s the same promise to reform government and cut wasteful spending.

We’ve heard the pitch the plan before. And seen the consequences. Anyone paying attention should also realize by now that the consequences are cumulative. The bigger the deficits the greater the debt–which now stands at nearly $10 TRILLION. The greater the debt, the closer we get to disaster.

Anyone who has continuously misused their own personal credit while spending more than they earn year after year should understand how that works.
