Obama’s Economic and Moral Bankruptcy
By Larry Johnson on September 18, 2008 at 8:42 AM in Current Affairs
At some point the truth police must show up and arrest Barack Obama for reckless endangerment of the truth for his role in the Wall Street meltdown. Barack wants to portray the chaos in the financial markets as the fruits of letting irresponsible capitalists run amuck when the reality is that he has been part of the symbiotic incest that has helped feed and abet the activities that now have the Federal government scrambling to contain a global financial meltdown. Although Barack is not responsible for the poor decision making of the executives at Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers, AIG, and Fannie Mae, he is to blame for surrounding himself with those folks as his advisors and for taking more of their money than most members of Congress. Where the hell is the media in focusing attention on his duplicity?
Let’s start with the money. Compare the money Barack has raised fromfrom lobbyists with that McCain has snagged. Obama received a grand total (per Open Secrets) of $1,223,737.00 from Fannie Mae, Freddic Mac, Lehman Brothers, AIG, and Bear Stearns while John McCain received only $258,075.00.
John McCain $6,550 (Fannie Mae) $9,100 (Freddie Mac) $117,500 (Lehman Bros.) $36,875 (AIG) and $88,050 (Bear Stearns)
Barack Obama $137,950 (Fannie Mae) $68,750 (Freddie Mac) $370,524 (Lehman Bros.) $75,899 (AIG) and $570,614 (Bear Stearns)
So, why in the hell does Barack Obama, a first term Senator, get more money from financial institutions who have helped produce the worse financial crisis in a century than the crusty old so-called Washington insider John McCain?
Because Barack played ball with these folks. If you start with his longtime fund raiser, Tony Rezko, you find a direct road to Nadhmi Auchi, a British-Iraqi billionaire who loaned Tony Rezko $3.5 million shortly before Rezko helped Obama buy a house he could not then afford. Oh yeah, almost forgot. Auchi is one of the largest shareholders in the bank that stands the most to lose from Lehman Brothers’ woes. Is it likely that one of the reasons Obama got so much dough in the first place from the Lehman folks was because of the Auchi ties?
When it comes to getting favorable loans that the average American cannot obtain, Barack hangs with the right folks. Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson both got sweetheart deals fromfrom Countrywide. So what? Well, both Raines and Johnson ran Fannie Mae and Raines paid almost $25 million dollars for his role in a Fannie Mae accounting scandal. As I noted in an earlier post, Obama initially named Johnson to head up his VP search team.
But wait, there is more. Penny Pritzker. Our own Uppity Woman dished the dirt here. In a nutshell, “one of the first subprime lenders to stick it to borrowers and have her bank seized is a woman named Penny Pritzker, who just happens to be Barack Obama’s campaign Finance Chair (as confirmed on April 3, 2008) and a potential Secretary of the Treasury in an Obama administration.”
What does this say about Barack’s “judgment?” When it comes to losers and thieves he sure knows how to pick them. It is one thing to get yourself a sweetheart home loan with the help of a guy being investigated on federal corruption charges (and subsequently convicted). An isolated bad choice? Wait a minute. Then what about Raines, Johnson, and Pritzker?
Why is it that the major financial institutions in the toliet or heading there all wanted to give this first term kid a whole bunch of money? They were not tossing him dollars just because he cleans up well, looks good in a suit, flashes a nice smile, and speaks proper English. They wanted something.
I find it fascinating that John McCain has a clear record of opposing these financial special interests (he learned his lesson the hard way with the Keating five scandal) and it is Barack, who is up to his eyeballs in these sleazy money, who for now is being given a pass.
One final point. Take a look at this piece of investigative journalism documenting chapter and verse about Obama’s ties with the slumlords of Chicago. The meltdown on Wall Street started with these slumlords. It is all part of the same activity–an insiders club that pays those who go along while inflicting pain on the poor. That was Barack’s game, not McCain’s.

there is absolutely NO EXCUSE for allowing someone like Obama to get a pass on all of this-NONE.
soetorobama is in a cone of money….

Nice one!
Here are two people who aren’t about to allow Barry Soetoro to get away with any of this.

Can we make an ad, accusing the MSM of NOT doing their job?
That is a great idea. Some of the talented people that visit here should get on this and send it everywhere. Come on guys, let’s get this done.
Larry and others,
Yes lets make a you tube video with the facts that you have outlined in your piece.
Who can do that?
We have to get the truth out about this
lying asshole Obama.
McCain is the honest one but Obama is out there lying his ass off. The proof is there, lets get it out. What about Cliff Kincaid, he might help or one of the 527’s.
What can we all do to get this out?
Yes, if the writers here or some people that write well and post here can make up so short well researched articles. We others can cut and paste them and get them out. We are 527’s.
Let’s face it. If places like this didn’t exist then no one including ourselves would know the truth. Not everyone has found their way to sites like this. Some have stumbled onto Obama sites and stopped there. We all can reach out to at least one person who we email. That person may know 3 and on it goes. The point is do something, cut and paste any article from here, or write your own. Short is best. Truth is everything. Fact is paramount.
Rock on!
It’s so depressing–the complete lack of journalistic ethics. This hypocrite is out there damning the Republicans and McCain for their special interest ties, and he’s knee deep in Wall St. money. We’ve know this for months, while his campaign crowed about the “small donors.” Lies, lies, lies. And when he is hit with a critique, OMG, the wailing and whining! “Negative, old politics!” I am so unbelievably tired of this guy’s routine and the enabling media. This is exactly how fascist governments control the people–by controlling information. Remember his promises of transparency–another crock.
while we are at it, keep hammering the media, CNN and MSNBC and others and DEMAND they tell this connection. I email those bastards on a regular basis and I know they read it although they continue on with their bias.
Everybody DO SOMETHING! We can’t let this phoney Obama and his crowd get away with all thier crookedness!
Unfortunately, they don’t care about e-mail. Although I applaud your efforts to communicate, I wish more Americans would write those letters.
Bill O’Reilly has had significant success in asking his viewers to cancel newspaper subscriptions and to stop buying products from certain companies.
We can make them pay attention if we stop watching their shows. Another way to hit them is to hit their sponsors in an organized manner. If we pick one of two of the big sponsors and stop buying their products, they’ll get a clue.
I’m willing to do some research and report back if everyone else is game.
I’m sure NQ readers are ready and will jump on this with you. Get going on the research.
I saw BP advertise on CNN
On top of all of these dubious money connections, we hear this:
That the current financial crisis is what Obama wanted…
http://www.newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2008/09/16/cnns-crowley-obama-team-wanted-horrific-wall-street-headlines
He only cares about political gain, not what is right for our country.
Yes of course. And that’s exactly what John McCain said.
[ADMINISTRATOR: Comment removed for inappropriate content.]
Oh tsk tsk.
Also forgot to mention another Obama financial backer and advisor, Alex Giannoulias, a banker in Illinois and also, with Obama’s support, elected as Treasurer of Illinois, despite serious allegations of mob ties to his bank and improper loans to mob characters. Doesn’t this presidential candidate have any un-tainted associates ?
Here is a video showing the connections:

BRZEZINSKI: OBAMA’S GLOBALIST “RASPUTIN”
By Patrick Briley
September 16, 2008
NewsWithViews.com
Zbigniew Brzezinski is Barack Obama’s foreign policy advisor. Brzezenski was the national security advisor for President Carter from 1977 to 1981. In 1988 he endorsed HW Bush for President and was Co-Chair of the HW Bush national security advisory task force. From 1987 to 1989 he also served on the HW Bush’s Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board. Clinton Secretary of State Madeline Albright was a student of Brzezenski.. GW Bush Secretary of State, Condi Rice (also a former national security advisor), who studied under Albright’s father, shares many of the same world government views with Brzezinski and Albright.
Democratic Congress May Adjourn, Leave Crisis to Fed, Treasury
When the going gets tough, Nancy leaves town!
Nancy and Company are all going to Hawaii to eat waffles. Actual governing makes them pissy and tired.
Yes it does. And they’re ENTITLED to better. I know because Michelle LaVaughn TOLD ME.
Where is Chris Dodd?? – Chairman of the Banking and Housing Committee.
What did HE know about the banking and housing mess?
While McCain was warning about the mess in 2005, Biden was pushing through his Bankruptcy bill FOR the corporations.
Which candidate is in bed with Wall Street? THE ONE that the corporate media and their corporate sponsors have been promoting from the gitgo!
Obama talks about “changing Washington” while Biden hires a Washington lobbyist for his senate campaign.
McCain has more credibility on reform and is more threatening to Wall Street.
imo
Chris Dodd & Barney Frank repeatedly blocked reform of Fannie & Freddie. Didn’t Dodd also get multiple sweetheart mortgage deals for himself?
Yes, he was a “Friend of Mozillo”.
Although wasn’t he quoted as not knowing what a “VIP” loan entailed?
Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) would never ask or expect favorable treatment from mortgage lenders, he said in a statement responding to reports he received VIP rates from Countrywide Financial.
“As a United States senator, I would never ask or expect to be treated differently than anyone else refinancing their home,” said Dodd, who as chairman of the Senate Banking Committee oversees the home loan industry. “This suggestion is outrageous and contrary to my entire career in public service.”
Every RAT who is even remotely involved in this mess should have to stay and work this out.
Obama was the number 2 politician in receipt of money from Fannie & Freddie. Number One was Chris Dodd.
She got what was essentially a domestic drilling ban passed with her Gang of 10/16/20. Her work is done for now. And let’s hope the Senate vetoes this.
Yesterday, Anglachel had an excellent post (when are her posts NOT excellent) about some strategies and things that can be done right now to lessen the impact of this meltdown on the average American. And by the way, just FYO, Hillary has been saying and urging many of these same ideas for years.
“Paul Volker and other economic bigwigs are calling for the creation of an agency (or two) such as the Resolution Trust Corp. or the Home Owners Loan Corporation of the 1930s to handle the crisis:”

How do we make the Main stream media report it ???
They will not tell the truth – they are so in the tank for Obama. Can we send Larry’s article to all blogs and GOP 527 groups ???? The public needs this information.
Karl Rove started this discussion on H&C last night. He pushed real hard against Colmes to get him to shut up long enough for some facts to emerge. I know it is Rove and Fox. But, what else have we these days?
FOX also discussed ACORN and voter fraud today. My problem is that those who already watch FOX must be for McCain already. we have to reach everyone else. How do we do it? It burns me up inside!
Ok, crazy question coming, could this all be where both sides saw this corrupt fraud coming and have been so blatantly biased to really cause the anger level to be high? Then they are all going to converge together to unelect Obama and his Chicago politics? Seriously, the media stupidity is not helping him. The GOP can slaughter him in a moments notice. I just do not believe the MSM, DNC and intelligent people don’t know what the guy is! I sometimed get into a very weird conspiracy place and get sick to my stomach and have to go back to my happy place. My happy place is that no matter what or how ‘Bama goes bye-bye!
I agree re frustration – the facts are out there to sink obama, its just impossible to get those facts to voters.
Eastan, I saw that I Rove did try to knock down Alan, “Stupehead” Colmes and did a good job.
You are a writer, can’t you get this out to some of the 527’s – What about The Simmons guy who was involved in the Swiftboat Veterans ad and Floyd Brown, Cliff Kincaid.
There has to be a way we can make sure this information that Larry Johnson has written here in his piece is reported in the MSM and also the connection of Barney Frank and Chris Dodd and even Joe Biden is connected also.
Its all Democrats, not McCain.
The MSM will not help US. Take articles from this site, cut and paste it and send it to all your contacts, asking them to send it on. We are the 527’s that Obama hoped were not around. We can CHANGE everything, and we must. When this fight is one, then let us fight for less media control in just a few peoples hands. Control of the media results in a corrupt nation. Let’s take back America one brick at a time. After we get it back, lets don’t ever let it go.
McCain/Palin 2008
Larry – great video!
Fannie Mae CEO calling Obama and Dems “family” –
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usvG-s_Ssb0&eurl
Buy them up.
They are busy painting Ohitler’s toenails and on their knees “worshiping” him.
This is the big story that must get out. Fannie and Freddie are at the heart of this financial crisis. F and F used their low interest power to buy up and securitize sub prime loans that were bound to be problematic. These loans included connections to Countrywide, WAMU, Lehman, Bear et al. McCain has a good record on this with legislation he co-sponsored with Chuck Hagel. Hagel needs to come out of retirement and talk about this. McCain had a great speech on this in 2005 and the danger F and F posed to the American economy. Why isn’t the McCain campaign using this. Why isn’t McCain talking about his own role in 2005 on the campaign trail. He is giving Obama the high road. Rove talked about this on Fox last night. Townhall has a great post on this.
We chronicled this for going on 5 years on the Housing Bubble Blog. The real bad guys in this are Dodd and Frank.
That Dodd is corrupt doesn’t surprise me (Dodd voted with the Republicans to impeach Bill Clinton), but I am surprised by Barney Frandk.
Voted to impeach? For a bloody blowjob? Are these people nuts? Hey – on second thought don’t answer that.
Obama is doing a better (or worse depending how anyone looks at it) job of helping to bring down America’s economy than the gang out of Arabia did by bringing down the Twin Towers. Kruschev said the communists would bury America.
Huh? The guy’s not even President yet, and now it’s all his fault? After more than six years of Republican incompetence? Give me a break.
What does it say about Democrats this time around when they should be cruising to the White House?
Losers are losers. When it comes to losing Presidential elections, no one does it better than the Democrats.
I can understand why so many of Hillary’s supporters must be seething on a daily basis. The road to the White House would’ve been assured with Hillary at the top of the ticket. At this point, I think members of the DNC are terrified of their own shadows.
The Democrats – Never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.
Well, name one thing that Obama has done to improve your life or the country.
Well, name one thing in the past two years that your representatives in Congress or the Senate have done to improve your life.
Just like it’s Hillary’s fault that Obama is having difficulties, right? You Obama guys are such wimps. You really can’t take a dose of your own medicine.
Another bot in here? Egads. And I just had dinner. What a waste.
Maybe that’s the idea?
One reason Barack Obama might not want to
talk about the role of financially irresponsible bank board members in creating
the subprime mortgage foreclossure financial disaster is that the national
finance chair of Obama’s campaign, Penny Pritzker, is a former board member of
the failed Superior Bank S&L that engaged in irresponsible subprime mortgage
lending during the 1990s.
From here.
Apparently Penny was into subprime lending before it became all the rage
starting in around 2000. It continues:
Penny Pritzker’s chairmanship was apparently "to concentrate on
subprimelending, principally on home mortgages, but for a while in subprime auto
lending, too," after the Pritzkers’ bank acquired its wholesale mortgage
organization division, Alliance Funding, in December 1992.
Secretary of Treasury, right? And the Democrats
are afraid of Sarah Palin? Maybe they need to be more scared of Penny.
McCain should put out an ad on this. Ohitler is clearly part of the problem we are now facing. Penny Pritzker and Ohitler make nice poster children for the financial meltdown caused by their stupidity, greed and avarice.
I think some of this is the whole reason for Obarfbag’s rush to high office. He is up to his eyeballs in very bad shit and we all know the truth will come out sometime. He had to run now or he never will again. He will never get reelected to the Senate and/or will be indicted on something!
I was very uneasy from early on with him, like what’s your hurry buddy? Be the good democrat and back Clinton, maybe vie for VP for that all important experience, and then next time it will be your turn if you play your cards right and are who you say you are. Then it was like rabid mania, win at all costs and I decided that his rush is that if not now, people will see who he is and he is gone. I decided if that was the case, he should be gone sooner than later!
What’s your hurry Barky? The MSM should have been finding out!
Oh yeah. But both Pritzker sisters are in cahoots with Soros over at MoveOn. Small world, innit?
Hit Obama on this and hit him now!
Glad that McCain ha a new ad up this morning.
McCain predicted this mess in 2005. McCain was a co-sponsor of the Federal Housing Reform Acto of 2005. He tried to do somethnig about it. Obama didn’t do anything!
Obama and the media distorts McCain’s position and his record. Time to hit back! Expose Obama’s involvement with Fannie and his failure to do ANYTHING to help the American people on this matter while he has been a US Senator. DDoing so is long overdue!
John McCain’s new ad -
Dome
OT: Our favorite Rev. Manning weighs in today with a new video.
Urgent Message To Black
Preachers
I approve that ad by JM also. Those are the kinds of ads that work best, imo.
It is obvious that McCain is running his campaign against the MSM first and Oblahblah second. MSM has gone into a partnership with OShama to protect him from his radical associates and failures. The MSM knows that having OShama in the White House will make the perfect addition to their collection of trouble makers. The more troubles and problems we have the more money the MSM make. Money, money for them and difficulties for rest. The perfect MSM pairs.
Yes- the corporate media’s Wall Street sponsors know that Obama, like Bush, would be their tool in the White House.
And corporate luving Biden is a bonus!
This ad will be especially effective with Biden’s statement in the MSM headlines: paying higher taxes is patriotic. Maybe the Hollywood and academic elite (and the college crowd who don’t pay taxes at all) will enjoy that statement, but most Americans will be turned off by it.
The commenters on Manning are polarized, but he is right on about people using the church for personal gain. And it isn’t just black churches: when my congregation was being activist and trendy, we got a young lawyer from a politically inclined family, hanging out for creds–it was exactly the same, and I know it’s even more so in some more affluent congregations. But in BS’s case, it looks like 90% of his religious associates are using the church for politics. Call Manning crazy if you like–at least his polemics have a religious component.
Larry I hope you reconsider endorsing McCain directly even if the lesser of two evils / devil that we know criterion have to be used. Clearly one man is a greater threat to our nation and that is Obama. McCain is self admittedly imperfect but at least he has a genuine concern for our country. Obama only has a concern for pocket lining and power.
I agree with you. One endorses what is right for the country. The country must come first.
The money trails and ties are damning and make lies of Obama’s Hope and Change. But short of causing him to throw a few more people under the bus, unless he’s found to be taking a bribe I’m not sure that most people read the details.
The lobbyist money shows the sheer duplicity to Obama’s mantra of saying no to lobbyists or anyone who has ever been a lobbyist. But how do we break through Obama’s repetitive sloganeering to get people to realize it is a lie?
You don’t. Most of those who relate to a pathological or habitual liar are not able to turn things around just by pointing the truth to those affected or conditioned by them. The only way that pathological liars are arrested is out of bankruptcy. That is something quite far from what is happening to OBlahblah now. He is flourishing and basking in the successes of all his lies. His charisma is a big plus. McCain’s best chances is to go back to Palin and feature her as the most qualified to solve our problems because they together as a dynamic duo can seize the moment and solve our problems. Palin is also charismatic but she needs to be front and center of his campaign, not him. McCain needs to give Oblahblah a run for his money by using his best weapon, Palin.
OT: 1. I have time to read only one biography or autobiography of John McCain. Any recommendations?
OT: 2. Has anyone volunteered for the new McCain/Palin open & honest election committee? If so, results please?
I’m going to volunteer to work on getting out the vote the last 10 days before the election. (for McCain).
Judy,
I’m a lifelong Dem, and I wanted to learn more about McCain, so I read “Faith of My Fathers.” It’s really interesting, and explains where his principles and commitment to service come from. His father and grandfather were both 4 star admirals, and fought in WWII. His father was commander in the Pacific when he was captured in Vietnam. It details his youthful arrogance and rebellion, and how his imprisonment transformed him. It humbled him and revealed to him the principles his father & grandfather embodied. I really like it, and it convinced me that this many has core convictions that he earned. He really does believe in service, not self-aggrandizement. I trust him. I do not trust Obama, who does everything out of self-interest and doesn’t seem to have any center.
ie: this “man”
Read “Faith of My Fathers” by John McCain. They even made an excellent television movie of the book. You can’t even believe what that man had to endure in the Hanoi Hilton.
Where are the MSM? Not doing their job. Don’t know how this will ever get out. McCain’s people must know this—–why the silence? Kinda scary. This is not democracy–this is the MSM choosing our President.
That’s how manipulative freaks live and make other people live on their own terms.
The information is not going to get out unless WE get it out. Email these stories to everyone on your email list and tell them to do the same.
We are all Americans, now. Bombard the internet with facts. Everywhere.

Joe Biden puts his foot in his mouth again !!
Check it out
http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/18/biden-wealthy-americans-must-pay-more-taxes-to-show-patriotism/
I thought his foot was permanently affixed to his mouth? Did Biden get a footectomy?
Yep, running back Joe has fumbled; Republican linemen should return it well past midfield…
It must be getting pretty crowded in Joe Biden’s mouth these days. Maybe that’s why he has resorted to talking out of his ass recently.
Let’s tell Joe a little secret. It’s the wealthier citizens that provide the companies that provide the jobs for the less wealthy Americans. If they don’t have money to use for their businesses then they lay off workers who then can’t afford to spend money which supports the economy. Does he not get this? We all should pay our fair share but to tax one group way more than others is just a policy of wealth redistribution which is socialist mantra. It will end up being a penalty tax on all of us due to job loss etc. How can anyone want this loon a heartbeat away from the Presidency even if he is a “nice” guy.
It’s like they can’t help themselves. John F. Kennedy cut taxes, and appointed a Supreme Court justice who voted pro-life more than several Republican appointees.
We’re approaching half a century of full blown Democratic insanity, post-Kennedy.
If you aspire to make over 250 K, and I do, then when you get there, more of your efforts will end up for more taxes. While it may seem patriotic to pay for improvement to the welfare state, it also provides less incentive to risk capital.
So the meme reads, Those who make under 250K should try to remain that way.
Is the fury from the Democratic Party to highjack the nomination and election funded by Wall Street a way to cover the incompetence and thievery? Is Obama being pushed by the corporate MSM so investigations into fraud can be sidestepped in an Obama administration?
With those advising him being leaders of this financial meltdown, and the primary culprits among his largest donors, it is obvious Obama is their guy. It seems the collapse came a little early so they are trying to float the story that it helps Obama. When his campaign staff and the Senate Democrats role in enabling the markets is known it will not help him.
Taking your conspiracy theory one step further assuming you are correct then Bush and people friendly to McCain would push for the meltdown early to help McCain. Now your theory makes even more sense!
The Bush admin has been manipulating the economy for at least a couple of years with the Fed. This was so they could blame the next admin for the collapse. Most people in finance with a brain have known this was coming for at least a year, maybe longer. But something weird happened on the way to the poorhouse. The Dems participated with glee in the making of the disaster, and through a stoke of fate the Repubs nominated an old contrarian who like Hillary knew what was going on. So it switched and became advantageous to let the whole shebang tank so McCain could say “I told you so”. If Hillary had been on the ticket they would not have done it because there would have been no advantage. Bush’s legacy is crap anyway so there was nothing to lose and everything to gain for McCain.
This whole thing is Bush’s fault. Why? Because he had to fire Greenspan when his term began in 2001. By keeping Greenspan he put the country at risk. Greespan had too much power (yes, psychological power) and he (the skunk he is) met with Bush and convinced him of keeping him by making deals with Bush that he would keep interest rates low in order to grow the “SERVICE SECTOR” economy. The decision was with Greenspan to dwindle the industrial sector and increase the service sector. All the situations we have now is because our economy is a SERVICE economy. Thank Greenspan for how the economy is tanking. And the weasel is now retired. How funny.
0bama is EXACTLY the way to cover their incompetency. He is the machine incarnate. They didn’t want HRC because she would have LOOKED long and hard at what went wrong. They all have to scurry like RATS to get zeromama elected to save their useless asses.
WAKE UP AMERICA! All you will be left with is chump change.
McCain is making rumblings about cleaning out “Wall Street”. It just might work as a campaign theme and Obama would have to distance himself from his entire staff. The worse it gets, the louder McCain will get. So Wall Street bet on subprime paper and lost, then bet on Obama and lost. Losers!
I know that is why Hillary was such a threat. she’d be cleaning up the messes everywhere. John McCain is the threat to corruption now! We cannot let Barfy into our White House. It is ours, you know! We just allow our leader to stay there while he or she is in charge!
If people make fun of McCain not knowing how many houses he owns, tell them that you own 2 (or however many you do and add 1). I won my house and the White House and I have to pick and choose who I trust in my house carefully!
OT-bu important for our energy security.
Russia aims to assert control over Arctic
http://www.canada.com/calgaryherald/news/story.html?id=2c79ef9b-5b3f-4426-b47c-011de7d0a846
Canada’s response:
“When we see a Russian Bear approaching Canadian air space, we meet them with an F-18,” said MacKay, referring to Arctic patrol flights by Russian bombers. “We remind them that this is Canadian airspace, that this is Canadian sovereign airspace, and they turn back. And we are going to continue to do that, to demonstrate that we are watching closely their activities here.”
This is a potential crisis that could really spiral out of control and in a hurry!
Now more than ever, we need Mccain-Palin in the White House!!
Mccain-Palin ‘08
Hillary ‘12
There is a lot of oil up there…
Russia going into Georgia was to gain control of a pipeline. The Russians are hungry for oil, just as we are. Many countries are trying to claim territory on the arctic shelf.
http://www.ogj.com/display_article/339849/7/ONART/none/ExplD/1/Russia-moves-to-secure-Arctic-shelf-resources/
Our future depends of us being energy independent. I think McCain/Palin have the right ideas here.
Russia wants to control oil anywhere they can so they can become a super wealthy power again with world wide recognition. They see this as the path to gaining this as well as to boost their industries. Very scary and they need to be met with strong resistence.
People think being able to see Russia from your home is a joke, but the joke is on them.
Gosh, I wonder if those bumpkins in the Alaska Air National Guard have noticed any of this activity? Naaah, we all know those guys is stoopid.
Everyone reading this please forward a link to Lou Dobbs. You could also send one to the other commentators (aka the in-the-tankers). I doubt that any of them will be interested. Still, you never know.
Many voices are needed to bring this to national attention.
I feel that at some point some enterprising network exec. will figure out that they’re backing the wrong horse and be the first to change sides (or at least be even-handed in coverage) – thereby gaining a huge audience and consequently market advantage over the Kool-Aid drinkers.
John Stossel? Is he still objective?
Obama is guilty of treason and is a traitor. yes, by all means pass along all of this info. I am going to forward this piece to the Indiana Republican committee. When I spoke to them a few days ago they had no idea what Obama’s supporters are doing.
OT..the FBI is now investigating who hacked Palin’s email account.
And where oh where are the orange satan kooks at to defend all this lobbyist money Obama took? no they don’t show up when their idol of sin is caught and there is no way to excuse it. gotta go talk to the master for talking points on this one.
When they don’t have a real defense they go on the offense with a diversion.
Where the hell is the media?
As of last night, they were replaying McCain’s out-dated and off the cuff remarks! Anything to give their chosen one another boost up the ladder!
Apparently the WSJ has a new story about the connections…of course, with a balance listing McCain’s advisers as well.
However, the TV crew is doing everything possible to take McCain down with this panic!
If Congress leaves town, as planned, while all this financial unrest is going on, we need to FIRE all of them!
They may hold some hearings.
Well, whoop-de-do! Not enough, get the hell to work, and now!
This whole mess is tied to housing finance and complicated rules that rig the game in corporate finance that needs to be made clear to the American people. Congress’ reaction to the crisis is appalling to me, not only as a citizen, but as a Soldier defending this country. This is a disgrace for both parties. They have been complicit in maintaining the status quo in this financial system and have taken money from the swindlers rather than job their jobs for the people. Now, they throw up their hands, say ‘no one knows what to do’ and ‘Congress in a short span of time is best served by going home?’ This is outrageous behavior and shows a horrible lack of leadership and breaks their trust with the people. It is hard and complicated, so let’s go home. How about staying and figuring it out–even if you have to work late guys. In the military when things get tough and ‘no one knows what to do’ we do not get to just throw our hands up and go home. We figure it out. We make an assessment, figure out where our plan went wrong and come up with a new plan. Congress is so busy trying to duck their shared responsibility in this crisis that they want to run and hide rather than stay and help to work it out. It is like they are admitting that they are not sart enough to do anything. I propose that while they let Executive Branch handle this that they stay in session and get classes on economics, civics, history each morning and then each afternoon they have an open mike on the floor of each house where citizens can come in and tell them what we think of the job they are doing. Hiding from this problem is disgraceful and the ‘leadership’ in the Congress should be ashamed.
Nobama has made millions of bucks from his printed navel gazing over the past few years. Where is this money invested, hedge funds? Might be interesting to see.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080917/ap_on_el_pr/wall_street_politics
according to yahoo news:
Securities and investment firms gave $9.9 million to Obama and $6.9 million to McCain through July, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a private group that tracks money spent in politics. The industry is McCain’s No. 3 contributor and Obama’s No. 4 contributor, according to the center.
Wall Street-based firms were among the most active at “bundling” contributions for the two candidates.
Three executives from Goldman Sachs Group Inc. have raised at least half a million dollars for Obama. That firm is Obama’s top source of campaign money overall; its employees have contributed more than $690,000 to his campaign, according to the center.
Merrill Lynch’s chief executive, John Thain, has raised more than $500,000 for McCain. Merrill’s workforce likewise is McCain’s top donor, giving nearly $300,000.
the money should be out of BOTH campaigns. Let’s not kid ourselves.
From AP, interesting. Of course the striking thing is that Obama’s people have insisted from day one that he doesn’t get any corporate money–it’s all from little people and the youth!

Get ready to argue back.
People will just lie to the thugs and tell them they are enthusiastic Ohitler supporters.
Stupid idea Ohitler. Shows how desperate you are.
“get in their face”
speechless
that’s a sure way to win undecideds over to your side.
NOT.
I was with someone last night who is undecided. The latest 0bama harangue appeared on the TV. Halfway through the spot, my companion said to the tube:
STFU.
Joe Biden is now saying that Americans should pay higher taxes because it’s only ‘patriotic’ to do so.
This is a comment I found at Fox website, and it totally expresses how I feel about Joe’s statement:
“Comment by Karen Cumbo
September 18th, 2008 at 8:02 am
What Obama and Biden want to do is turn our economy from Capitalistic into a socialistic state with redistribution of wealth. My husband and I came from a poor, inner-city neighborhood and we both worked hard through high school and college and then went on to post-graduate school. We both became engineers and saved up to start a family. When I did have my first child, I stayed home and my husband continued to work over 70 hours per week and travel extensively. My 3 young children cry every Sunday when he leaves for a business trip. When the children were babies, I took a job at night so I could pay for the “extras”. I was thoroughly exhausted but did it so we could provide for our children. We have finally worked our way up to the top income bracket and now Obama wants us to give it away to those who chose to take the easy way out and not work hard or pursue higher education. I’m sorry, but it’s our money and we already pay the highest amount of taxes. Where is the incentive to work hard and do well? Where is the personal responsibility? Should people be rewarded because they chose to have more children than they can afford? Should I be penalized because my children were born when I was married and not out of wedlock? I know some fathers who are home every day at 5 pm and get to spend precious time with their children. My husband and I sacrificed that with the knowledge that we would someday have the money to take wonderful family vacations and hopefully, someday; own a vacation home. Now Obama and Biden say it’s not fair, we should give our hard-earned money to other people who weren’t as “lucky” as us!! This is outrageous. Patriotism does not mean redistribution of wealth. Patriotism means that in America everyone has an opportunity to work hard for the American Dream. Everyone has an right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Our forefathers who created this Constitution would be rolling in their graves now if they knew what Biden and Obama have planned for our great country. Lord help us all if these two Bozos get in the White House.”
If Obama is a socialist, I wish someone would show me how.
The problem is that the political right ALWAYS say the Democratic candidate is a socialist. It’s really kind of scary that wingers don’t notice their repetitive behavior. No wonder Republicans always screw everything up!
If Hillary were the nominee, the Right would be busily saying she is a commie trying to foment a socialist revolution in America. Normal people have long ago noticed this compulsive behavior.
If socialism refers to a universal health care system, we have to admit that this is what the vast majority of Americans want. In a Democracy, the majority should get what they want. If that’s socialism, so be it.
Ok do you even know what a socialist is? And I like socialism, it’s fascist i abhore.
Hillary had an intelligent tax plan, and she probably would have won this election. Tell me what Obama’s “Donut Hole” tax plan is, if not socialism.
Obama has a longggg list of flip flops.
Given our current economic mess, Obama could also flip flop on his definition of “wealthy” – incomes over $250K.
Yeah. Wealthy are the ones with more than two children.
This is very simple to show you how. Go to his speech in Colorado the day before yesterday where he delineated his 5 point solution to the Wall Street corruption. Listen to what he said. Be very attentive because socialism is about economics. Listen to his prescribing “anticipation.” Do you see what he is saying. He wants to anticipate what’s coming in order to block what’s in his opinion is bad and promote what’s in his opinion is good. That is one important leg of socialism. Controlling the economy by projections. That is very socialist behavior. Why? Control. Capitalism dies when risk is muzzled by pre-emptiveness. Even a savings account has risks associated with the soundness of the bank’s assets. You cannot pre-empt even a bank’s wellbeing. If you control a bank then they might as well return your money back to you. What’s the point.
It is similar to FISA and to pre-emption. Two areas that the left hates. But the idea is to anticipate your enemies first strike. But that is not socialist because that is simply national security strategy. Not socialist behavior.
The economy has been controlled by government in some fashion or other for generations. We do not have “pure” capitalism here.
We do not yet have pure socialism, either. Your argument is not an excuse for doing nothing.
Many of us have this same story – we worked hard for 20-30 years (sacrificing free time to gain higher degrees, work for our communities, build our businesses and careers) and then, afer a lifetime of hard work, we finally start earning a good income and Obama says we are “rich” and he wants to tax us and give our money to the poor.
Well, I have news for you Obama, many of us who finally develop our businesses or careers to make $250,000 or more per year aren’t rich – we have children and elder parents to care for, employees to pay, retirement and college to fund (after we finally pay down our own college debts). This class warfare and taking from those who have sacrified a lifetime to earn a good living by the time they reach middle age is socialism, pure and simple. Go ahead and raise taxes on us “rich” small business people, raise the capital gains tax on the millions of middle class taxpayers counting on their 401K’s for retirement.
You want America to be like Europe and you will succeed. Kiss the low U.S. unemployment rate goodbye and welcome in an era of European-style socialism – a system that leads to low investment, high unemployment, and decreased initiative and creativity.
I agree with every word this woman says. I believe we need a social safety net, but I disagree with just handing money out to people who could be working. Many of thee people are criminals who already make big money victimizing the rest of society and then they can get in line to take our tax dollars. The Democrats are way out of touch, thinking that blacks don’t have opportunities in this country 50 years after Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action went into effect. It’s just that young blacks think education is stupid, it’s Uncle Tom. They would rather commit crimes.
If there is a safety net, the government needs to implement accountability which is now lacking, and make sure there is scrutinous oversight. You don’t just take money from people who work hard and hand it to whoever has their hand out–frequently some politician. No one should ever get money or food stamps from the federal government without having to work. We wouldn’t need illegal workers if all the people on the dole in this country were put to work for what they get.
Why is he getting all this money and why does his campaign keep saying that he doesn’t get corporate money?
Repeat the lie often enough and it sticks. He is disingenuous when he talks about lobbyists. He uses bundling and earmarks to make up for it. Get an earmark for someone–then they own you campaign money later. That is why Obama doesn’t want to get rid of earmarks and why the current media theme is that earmarks are a distraction because they only account for X% of the bdudget. That misses the point–it is not the overall amount of earmarks money, it is how it used to buy influence. That is why Obama-Biden don’t want to talk about it because it is one of their tricks to try to appear clean of lobbyists while getting government cheese for their supporters who then, out of deep respect and admiration, feel compelled to work to keep them in office to keep the gravy coming.
This is something that will be investigated in the future, but not now. First the MSM will usher him into the WH. That will increase ratings. Then they will investigate that, and kaboom, more newspaper sales. Whatever to sell the news.
Just have a look here at what McCain had to say about Obama’s ties to Fannie and Freddie…:
http://patriotroom.com/?p=2092
Great post, as usual, Larry.
“What does this say about Barack’s “judgment?” When it comes to losers and thieves he sure knows how to pick them…………………….Then what about Raines, Johnson, and Pritzker?”
This is the same highly touted judgment that allowed Obama to choose Wright, Pfleger, and Meeks as his spiritual advisors.
We know the MSM will not pick up on this and expose Obama for the dirty, corrupt fraud that he is. I only hope the McCain team or some 527’s run some good ads with this info.

wow,
funny that none of you right wing whack jobs ever mention that McPalin’s chief economic advisor Phil “you’re a bunch of whiners” Gramm is the guy that deregulated the system and removed the controls that FDR had put in place back in the 1930s–at which time your right wing whack job forefathers were calling FDR a “socialist.”
Obama got cash from Wall Street cuz they can read the writing on the wall and they know a winner when they see one.
McPalin is a doddering old man that is in the early throes of alzheimer’s– just like that other doddering old fool that started this mess, Reagan.
–McPalin didn’t seem to know where Spain is or the name of its PM last night in an interview.
You right wing kooks are funny, always preaching “responsibility” unless you’ve been in power for years and then the entire country goes to shit–or it is one of your own who’s slutty daughter gets knocked up.
[ADMINISTRATOR: STEVE, THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE CASE FOR US. WE'VE BEEN TELLING PEOPLE SINCE LAST YEAR ABOUT THE CRUDE, RUDE, HOSTILE, and HIGHLY IMMATURE BEHAVIOR OF OBAMABOTS. YOU REPRESENT THE VULGAR, INFANTILE BRUTES VERY WELL.
YOU'RE AS PREPARED FOR ADULT DISCUSSION AS YOUR CANDIDATE IS FOR THE PRESIDENCY.]
[ADMINISTRATOR: P.S. You're outta here.]
Then, you make excuses and lash out at others.
Your conservatism has ruined the country, just as it did in the 1930s, and now you are desperate to avoid blame so you attack the party that has always favored government oversight and regulation or markets.
Nice try, but nobody’s buying your bullshit.
Hey, wouldn’t it be great if everyone’s social security money was in the stock market right about now?
See this is where you bots, screw up. will listen to anyone’s opinions, and there for i despise it when you try to crap on mine. now if you want act and think like a five year old fine, but don’t run around trying to push your magical thinking off on other people and then label your judgement sound.
See Pre schools, have justifiable ignorance in which no matter how much you show them that a beaker has the same amount of water than a skinny graduate flask they wont believe you. School age children can understand the concept. Right now you are behaving like a 3 or 5 year old and that’s cool, but i’d be damn if you dumb behind will slam me as being wrong. so let me enlighten you, adults don’t change, barak obama is a shady individual, who behaves like bush on a state scale, which means he will act like him on a national one. So instead of you going out and trying to find information about this neophyte, you lazy behinds fell for a con artist over a much more qualified candidate. then you bash Palin, when palin behaves in a way that says she puts her constituents first, she knows how to balance a budget, she knows about energy since she is sitting on one of largest oil mines in america, and you belittle her, you tell her, not the man that makes friends with terrorist, attends a hateful church, and works for terrorist. and who screwed his own constituents over for campaign contributions, that she isn’t ready to be president.
To quote the Michael McDonald” what a fool believes he sees. No wise man has the power to reason a way what seems to be. ” So stop trying to get me to by into you foolishness, cause i do not have the ability to see anything in barak obama that isn’t there. and you will have to live with it.
Sorry, no coffee yet.
How can we trust 0bama with the economy, he doesn’t even know what he’s talking about.
He called AIG the “American Insurance Group”
steeveeboy, you’re a “financial guy”, you should know what’s
wrong with that picture.
Additionally, an astute “financial guy” would also know that The Gramm-
Leach-Bliley Bill was passed in 1999 with overwhelming bipartisan support, and signed into law by President Clinton.
That bill also included a provision for Federal oversight and regulation.
shut up shit for brains
Wow Steveeboy,
You are full of bullshit like all of the other Obama maggots.
John McCain is no where near Alzheimers and he is sure not a criminal like Obama is and he is a U.S. Citizen for sure which is more than we can say for Obama. Obama seems to be the one with Alzheimer’s desease. All of the Uh’s and can’t remember whether its inhaler or inhalorator and on and on.
I for one would like to see you kicked off the site and I hope Larry Johnson’s Admin person does just that.
I also heard a report, and if someone can find the link and post it here, that would be great, that McCain’s contributions came from individuals who worked for those companies, and all were within the minimum amount. For instance, if you or I go online and contribute, we are required to list our employer. However, Obama’s was lobbiest money.
I wish I could find that link and post it here.
Very good Larry! Thanks. I am going to spread it around.
This whole thing is a nightmare, and it wouldn’t be so bad if everyone knew this stuff and it was regularly reported. The fact that Obama-Media hides all of this, or barely scratches the surface makes me crazy.
Also, someone sent me an email explaining that ACORN is a housing advocacy group, with the arm Project Vote, but mainly it’s housing…and I wish I knew if there was an ACORN/ Fannie Mae, etc connection.
Obama is tied to too many bad deals with real estate and housing. Auchi is a big real estate guy as well. Banking/ Real estate.
I am just so disgusted. If O wins, I think our country will be in the toilet within 3 years.
From Drudge…
This is the type of attitude that we are dealing with from Obama. It’s frightening and it will come to light from Obama and his wife if gets elected.
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/091708dnspomavslede.112d818.html
Ya, that’s great. Honestly, I cannot think of anything more depressing than the possibility of an American president inciting anti-American sentiment among Americans. It’s just perverse.
This is the change he hopes for. I think he hates the way our country is so much that he would incite hatred for everything we are and everything we stand for in order to justify changing it, and worse, millions of Americans (oblows!) will lead the march to hell.

The Washington Post’s Double-Standard on Quoting Politicians
Look closely at the way the Washington Post quotes Barack Obama yesterday:
He chided Sen. John McCain some at both. “Yesterday, John McCain actually said that if he’s president, he’ll take on the, quote, old boys’ network in Washington,” Obama said in Elko.
“I am not making this up. This is someone who’s been in Congress for 26 years – who put seven of the most powerful Washington lobbyists in charge of his campaign – and now he’s the one who will take on the old boy network?” Obama continued. “The old boy network? In the McCain campaign, that’s called a staff meeting.”
Look closely at the way the Washington Post quotes Sarah Palin yesterday:
“John? John?” Sarah Palin called to John McCain. “Can I add somethin’?” …
One woman wanted to give her the chance to address those who say Palin can’t be a mother and vice president. “Well, let’s prove ‘em wrong,” Palin said to cheers.
She talked about her role if the ticket is elected: “Let me tell you, I know a little bit about energy. That’s gonna be my baby when I get to Washington, D.C.”
“Somethin’” instead of “something”; “‘em” instead of “them”; “gonna” instead of “going to.” I don’t doubt that’s the way Palin sounded. But I’ve heard a lot of politicians drop their ‘g’s and ‘th’s, and this is the first time I’ve seen a newspaper put three of them in one story about a politician’s speech.
Obama has suddenly discovered a drawl when appearing before audiences in the South, but I don’t recall transcripts suddenly reflecting that. Those of us who have watched Obama on the stump know that “uh” punctuates his speeches with surprising frequency. Usually, we drop them when quoting him, as they’re superfluous to covering the news.
Depending on your view, the dropped ‘g’s, etc., can sound folksy or uneducated. I just want newspapers to be consistent in their application.
Excellent question. Obama, an unknown – got more money from wall Street that the record held by incumbent W in 2004: 10 million (by last month Obama raked 9.6 million)
meanwhile the polls are tweaked for him – like once they used to be for W

Video of McCain/Palin at Townhall in Michigan – PUMA Speaks First

unless WE – you and me – go after the media and demand balance – nothing will change. obama will win. we will get mad and the media and so what?
WE must go after the media nearly as much as we go after Obama.
“at the Media” i meant.
the point remains.
complaining about the media bias now is simply a form of learned helplessness now.
write letters
call.
boycott.
the media must be held to account. We are not powerless. go after the MSM.
You are right.
James Carville just said yesterday (or the day before), that “barring a major gaffe” from Obama, Sept 15th will mark the day John McCain LOST this election.
Apparently, the further and seemingly never ending financial meltdown has forced both campaigns to talk issues: When the focus is on issues, the Democrat, any Democrat, always has the upper hand. Because of the sheer scope of the economic meltdown, i.e. nearly a TRILLION dollar bailout by tax payers, this is true ten times over.
Just on September 14th, the media’s focus was on personality, i.e. “ugly frogs” and whatnot wherein McCain-Palin were increasingly beating the pants off of Barack O’Bullshit. Palin had effectively stolen Obama’s celebrity thunder. A charismatic soccer mom, or hockey mom with lipstick rather, will beat a race-baiting bullshit artist any day in the mind of the “typical white person“, who is “bitter… and clings to… antipathy towards people who aren’t like them… antipathy towards immigrants…”
The polls are definitely reversing in Obama’s favor. Shit, if the Michelle “Whitey” tape exists, it better come out soon.
BTW, gut instinct tells me that something, some form of “October suprise” will surface concerning The One. During the later part of the primaries, Mary Matalin (Carville’s wife) appeared on Leno and when asked who she thought would win the nomination between Obama and Hillary, Matalin picked Hillary citing “The Clintons have kicked my butt over and over…” They always find a way to win, etc. To me, I thought she was hinting at an very early “October surprise”, especially since Obama had by then virtually sewn up the nomiation. This was also during the time in which the media was reporting rumors Harold Ickes was going around warning of an “October surprise”, and before news broke of the possible existence of a Michelle “Why’d he?” tape.
Well, we’ll see soon enough…
I don’t trust Carville..he’s in the tank for Obama now too, another Juda wo balls. It’s just another spin to try to use reverse psychology on those supporting McCain to make them think there is no chance of winning so don’t bother to vote. It’s all bullshit. First of all, if die hard Republicans will stand behind asshole Bush, they will certainly stand behind a war hero. Second, there will not be the voter fraud like in the primary. Not sure how many younger voters will even show up to vote. If anything a shitty economy would be reason to get someone in office who has experience, Republican or Democrat. McCain and Palin both have reform. I don’t really see as how the economy helps one side or the other more. Carville is full of shit.
BY the first of November no-one will remember what the big issue of Sept 15 was that Carville said would win the election for Obama.
“BY the first of November no-one will remember what the big issue of Sept 15 was that Carville said would win the election for Obama.”
Maybe. You might be right, God willing. The markets have almost fully recovered due to worldwide efforts to shore up the financial giants that are not in deep shit. At the moment, there’s a 400+ point recovery in the DOW.
Of course, if an “October surprise” emerges on The One, then He has no hope–not a snowball’s chance in Hell.
wodiej — electoral map favors Repubs. They are unified and the Dems are split. Carville himself said that the losers always say they are going to win while those who are winning say its an uphill climb. He is just trying to keep Obama’s spirits up — if anyone knows the truth its Carville.
wodiej — I should add that the reason Carville said that those who are winning never brag about it is that over confidence keeps voters home. If I am going to vote for McCain and I know he is going to win big I might just stay home.
mcpalin hill,
Regardless, for McCain-Palin to win, the focus must shift away from issues and back onto “ugly frogs”, i.e. irrelevant fluff and garbage. In particularly, it needs to return to personality, where McCain is a war hero and Palin is a tenacious soccer/hockey mom, and Obama is an arrogant celebrity race-baiter.
“I don’t trust Carville..he’s in the tank for Obama now too, another Juda wo balls.”
Geeze, I don’t why everyone here is trashing anyone and everyone is supporting Obama as “Judas”. The Judases are those turn coats who supported Obama BEFORE Hillary dropped out. The Hillary supporters who reversed to support Obama–AFTER Hillary dropped out, are NOT just selfishly thinking of their own careers within the Democratic Party. NO. They also need to kept their street cred with Obama’s supporters: HOW THE FUCK IS HILLARY AND HER SUPPORTERS GOING TO WOO THE BOTS IN 2012 OR 2016 IF THEY DON’T PLAY BALL IN 2008?!? This isn’t rocket science. This is how politics has always works. You scratch my back, I scratch yours.
For me the Judases are those who switched to support Obama BEFORE Hillary dropped out. The worse of them all of course were the big wig Obamacrats, Dean, Pelosi, Reid, Brazille, etc.
Moral bankruptcy.
Diplomacy at its best. This is the diplomatic genius that will prevent wars by using diplomacy first.
Why doesn’t he up the ante one more notch? Why doesn’t he tell us to grab them by the neck, throw them to the floor, kick them while on the floor, and make them suffer. Be Americans, assault and batter your neighbors, that would be much more convincing. Thuggery rules – Chicago Politics.
More condescension from Maureen Dowd yesterday (gotta keep the class-warfare level as high as the race-baiting) :
“I wandered through the Wal-Mart, which seemed almost as large as Wasilla, a town that is a soulless strip mall without sidewalks set beside a soulful mountain and lake.
Wal-Mart has all the doodads that Sarah must need in her career as a sportsman — Remingtons and “torture tested” riflescopes, game bags for caribou, machines that imitate rabbits and young deer and coyotes to draw your quarry in so you can shoot it, and machines to squish cows into beef jerky.
I talked to a Wal-Mart mom, Betty Necas, 39, wearing sweatpants and tattoos on her wrists.
She said she’s never voted, and was a teenage mom “like Bristol.” She likes Sarah because she’s “down home” but said Obama “gives me the creeps. Nothing to do with the fact that he’s black. He just seems snotty, and he looks weaselly.”

Here is a link to the Campbell Brown v Lynn F de R.
Its hard for me to be objective because I have an intense dislike of Ms. Brown. She appears to be scrambling to make the point that Ms. F de R is bitter and vindictive, interesting for a “reporter”.

Campbell Brown is hideous: what an idiot. How can someone like her be one of the main faces of a 24/7 news organization. She is a disgrace….
Axelrod may want to call CNN to suggest that Ms. Brown take that well deserved vacation about now. She’ll only need to be away for 6 weeks or so, and can then return to cheer her Messiah and his thugs on while they round up the opposition for reeducation.
How on earth did that “woman” get a job in the first place? All I’ve seen her do is make herself look stupid while sneering at people who dare to support her Messiah’s opponent. She comes off as cruel and idiotic….not the traits I would seek during an interview.
The link is incorrect… Please repost. Thx
I too have developed a intense dislike of Campbell Brown. I can’t take watching her for more than a few minutes. Sneering while she is simultaneously smiling. Trying to be cheerleader-y peppy while at the same time condescending or cloaking jabs. Adolescent character traits, reminiscent of insecure teenage cliques. I find it repulsive coming from a grown woman.

Great post Larry….tick tock…the clock is running on how long before the MSM covers the truth.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid — who also complained that he didn’t know a bailout of AIG was in the works — said Congress won’t change laws immediately to address the rapidly unfolding financial crisis because “no one knows what to do.”
straight from CNN
Love this comment:
If no one knows what to do than how are Obama and Biden so sure that their socialist cravings will fix the economy? Fact is they won’t. But no matter. Biden’s gonna pull a Kerry soon. I can feel it.
Wonder if NObama is going to send the ONC that $10 million that he told Reid he would… before he told Reid NO?
I think there is a fear here and an assumption on the other side that this over-hyped story about Wall St is going to help Obama. I think that will prove to be false – it will be of no help to either. The initial reaction might be a bump for Obama but that’s because emotional reactions come faster than reasoned reactions. it will take time for Obama’s own Wall St. connections to come out, and time for voters to weigh Obama’s track record as a reformer against McCain’s.
I’m pretty sure that to the extent voters ask themselves “who do I want in a pinch?” that the answer will not be Obama. This is a big news story that, frankly, will be off the front page by the weekend. And I think we return to where we have been all along – that this election is a referendum on Obama and who he really is.
A well reasoned and thoughtfull post. I agree.
Looking forward to the first debate on Friday 9/26. McCain will be ready. Obama will joke around. And the Amerrican people will see both men for what they are:
McCain: Presidential, Strong Leader
Obama: Someone they do not trust
Obama is going on the attack with everything he has (spending millions and millions on negative ads, getting personal with his attacks, etc.) yet he is still unable to pull ahead. There is a reason why that is. It is not racism. It is honesty, or a lack thereof, on the part of Obama.
As the campign continues, more and more Americans will come to not trust Obama. Just a matter of time before we hit the tipping point and Obama crashes. When that happens, the media will swoop and some of these issues and problems with Obama’s record will start to come out and Obama will be finished.
iron man — Ironically whats bringing Obama down is his is his enormous ego. Spending 7 Million on a media extravaganza when ordinary Americans struggle just to get by. Obama doesn’t feel our pain as Clinton did. He doesn’t even fly over it as Bush does. Obama is oblivious to anything but his own desires.
shiloh — however, even if the MSM doesn’t make a big story out of Obama’s connections to this Wall Street crisis. People do not trust Obama to fix it. If we have learned nothing else in these 20 months we have learned that Obama knows nothing and cares less about this economy or the American People. That fact is evident to all but the braindead. We would sooner trust someone we have known for 20 years than a man we do not trust.
I agree that Obama is an empty suit, a puppet, and a Manchurian candidate. The fact that he is so bad doesn’t make McCain better. It only makes him the “lesser of two evils”.
Neither have a clue about how to handle this world wide derivative crash. They keep listening to Wall Street! For an example, Paul Volcker is an Obama advisor.
“The pathology of this crisis is that unless you get ahead of it and deal with it from a position of strength, it devours the weakest link in the chain and then moves on to devour the next weakest link,” former Fed chairman Paul Volcker, former Treasury Secretary Nicholas Brady and former Comptroller of the Currency Eugene Ludwig said in an op-ed in today’s Wall Street Journal. That is a fair description of the problem, but the solution they provided, having the Federal government buy all the bad paper in the banking system, would be insane.
“Right now the system is clogged with enormous amounts of toxic real-estate paper that will not repay according to its terms,” the trio wrote. “This paper, in turn, is unable to support huge quantities of structured financial instruments, levered as much as 30 times.”
What they propose is a new “resolution mechanism” based upon the Resolution Trust Corp. (RTC), the agency created to oversee the collapse of the savings and loan sector in the late 1980s to early 1990s. “This new governmental body would be able to buy up the troubled paper at fair market values,” warehousing it and giving it the “the chance for much of it to recover a portion of its value.” And who pays for the un-recovered portion of its value?
The same edition of the Wall Street Urinal also carried op-eds by former assistant to the president for economic policy Lawrence Lindsey, and former Lazard banker and current fund manager Steven Rattner, pushing similar insane fantasies. Lindsey called for a “firewall” around the payments system, noting that “nearly 40% of the assets in the banking system are not protected by the FDIC.” He also called for allowing the banks more leeway in valuing the assets they have on the books, as a way of improving their capital positions. Rattner suggested that what we need is bigger banks, noting that “even the vaunted Goldman Sachs and the venerable Morgan Stanley may prove too small to remain independent.”
The only “position of strength” from which to deal with this crisis, is admitting the truth about the state of the global financial system, and taking the hard decisions that flow from that truth, To try to bail out this bankrupt system, as the bankers are so desperately trying to do, will trigger a hyperinflationary explosion of the same destructive force that hit Weimar Germany in 1923, only on a much larger, global scale.
As the closing paragraph of Harpers, “Barack Obama Inc, The Making of a Political Machine”, wrote:
“All of this has forged a political culture that is intrinsically hostile to reform. On condition of anonymity, one Washington lobbyist I spoke with was willing to point out the obvious: that big donors would not be helping out Obama if they didn’t see him as a “player.” The lobbyist added: “What’s the dollar value of a starry-eyed idealist?””
and
“It’s not always clear what Obama’s financial backers want, but it seems safe to conclude that his campaign contributors are not interested merely in clean government and political reform. And although Obama is by no means a mouthpiece for his funders, it appears that he’s not entirely indifferent to their desires either.
Consider the case of Illinois-based Exelon Corporation, the nation’s leading nuclear-power-plant operator. The firm is Obama’s fourth largest patron, having donated a total of $74,350 to his campaigns. During debate on the 2005 energy bill, Obama helped to vote down an amendment that would have killed vast loan guarantees for power-plant operators to develop new energy projects. The loan guarantees were called “one of the worst provisions in this massive piece of legislation” by Taxpayers for Common Sense and Citizens Against Government Waste; the public will not only pay millions of dollars in loan costs but will risk losing billions of dollars if the companies default.
In one of his earliest votes, Obama joined a bloc of mostly conservative and moderate Senate Democrats who helped pass a G.O.P.-driven class-action “reform” bill. The bill had been long sought by a coalition of business groups and was lobbied for aggressively by financial firms, which constitute Obama’s second biggest single bloc of donors.
Although The Bond Market Association didn’t lobby directly on the legislation, Williams took note of Obama’s vote. “He’s a Democrat, and some people thought he’d do whatever the trial lawyers wanted, but he didn’t do that,” he said. “That’s a testament to his character.” Obama has voted on one bill that was of keen interest to Williams’s members: last year’s hotly contested bankruptcy bill, which made filing for bankruptcy more difficult and gives creditors more recourse to recover debts. Obama voted against the bill, but Williams was pleased that he did side with The Bond Market Association position on a number of provisions. Most were minor technical matters, but he also opposed an important amendment, which was defeated, that would have capped credit-card interest rates at 30 percent. “He studied the issue,” Williams said. “Some assumed he would just go along with consumer advocates, but he voted with us on several points. He understood the issue. He wasn’t closed-minded. A lot of people found that very refreshing.””
The article is a must read for those who missed it a couple years ago.

The current U.S. financial situation has me more than worried. Read this article about the collapse of the financial markets in 1929 Germany and the rise of Adolph Hitler.
http://www.historyplace.com/worldwar2/riseofhitler/begins.htm
“His chief assets were his speech making ability and a keen sense of what the people wanted to hear.”
Does this sound like someone we know?
History does repeat…scary isn’t it..
witness 08 — Yes first a Dictator needs a rotten economy then he pretends to be a populist who is on the side of the people. Then the Dictator needs a scape goat. For Hitler it was the Jews, Gays, Mentally Ill and Gypsies. The mind boggles at who would be Obama’s scape goats. But in addition to this rotten economy he would have us at each other’s throats.
Oh my god! I figured it out, I think i know exactly how to nail obama.
Not only do i respond to threads on a few websites, but I really go into threads I am not really interested in I go to anyway bcause I can sometimes find a a link that will. Last night I read on Riverdaughters web site, a comment with a link to the chicago trubne talking about how obama supporters had interfered with a radio’s due to the fact that they had the author of “the case on against barack Obama” This morning I went back to the site, because the computer at my job, allows text and pictures but no video, i wanted to check out the link. unfortunately the video didn’t really have anything to do with the topic, however, i saw something else that interested me. the article stated that obama unleashed a well plan e-war on this station. All of a sudden it hit me. One thing that chills me and fascinates me in the digital age is that you be tracked, people could at one time commit a crim and then uses their cell phones to create alibis, well since there is a cell tower and in most places, they can pin point your exact location. same thing with the Internet, people’s ip addresses and histories are stored with in their own computer. now if barack obama did launch the web smear on WGN, and admit to it then it means that you could trace obama’s people back to the palin smears through their email, IP number and their own history.
Who has the knowledge to do this…track all of these people and where would a person start…Obama sent out the e-mails to go after WGN…that is fact…
Believe me the Secret Service is all over this. They are looking into who hacked Governor Palin’s Yahoo account.
The Secret Service works with the FBI and they are pretty good at finding these jerks.
The McCain/Palin Honeymoon is over:

You PUMAs seem to love backing losing candidates. You guys sure are gluttons for punishment. As far as this current financial crisis, blame Phil Gramm for the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, which McCain himself voted for, that started the deregulation process that lead to yesterday’s debacle.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0308/9246.html
Yeah, you PUMAs sure know how to pickem, huh?
dear i’m black, so I know how they use percentages to rail road people and paint others in a disparaging lite. While i can not recall the name of the scientist, a famous anthropologist wanted to say that intelligence and genetic superiority were defined by skull sizes he found that whites had the largest, the the native american, and then negos. Years later, while reviewing his data, people found out that he had cherry picked his skulls, throwing out larger african skulls, and throwing out Europeans with small ones. So if you are trying to manipulate me or throw my hands up in defeat please realize you are up against and individual whose parents taught them that you never let any one’s science defined what you are, news flash physics say the bumble bee should not fly but it does and John McCain a republican shouldn’t be the best candidate for the presidency, but he is. so take your doctored polls and let it and your anus become one. these polls were manipulate so they could say what the obama camp wanted it to say, by restricting the number of republicans polled, it’s on obama wtf I suggest that you stop there before you come up with doctored stats. Cause one thing i know, john mccain does not need cruel people who will smear a 17 year old girl to get into office, and just like bush, obama whether is wins are not, will always be remembered as a man who cheated his way into the white house, cause i’m going to make sure my children and my children’s children know that the first black president, cheated to get into an office he did not earn, and that he from Hillary clinton. that he stuck his middle finger up at her just cause he was angry when he he got his butt kicked in a debate. My father once said politicians do things to make history, and I will do everything i can to make sure, that he is seen as nothing less than a parasitic opportunist. make sure you tell obama, that the next time you and the Koolaid gang have your next meeting.
LJ,
Could you clarify your statement “he learned his lesson the hard way with the Keating five scandal?”
For those who may not know, The Senate Ethics committee that investigated the Keating Five cleared McCain of all charges against him and did not find his actions to be improper. They cited him only for “poor judgment.”
My take on your comment is that McCain learned a lesson about the appearance of impropriety rather than being complicit in the wrongdoing and learning from that mistake.
Thanks.
Obama Drama will not be syndicated.
Great post Mr Johnson.
OT:
Can NQ reach into the arcives and re-post the the article with the video of Ayers and Chavez in Venezuala?
I do think the only way to break the iron love grip of the MSM and Obama is to dump as much dirt as there is on Obama and pray.
Larry, its up to you to come up with some smoking guns like the Whitey tape and the documents from Pakistan and Indonesia you discussed previously re Obama’s citizenship and passport use.
Step it up.
you can watch Palin and McCain at cnn.com

I’ve seen posters here trying to make the absurd claim that the Republican party, their policies in practice and specifically John McCain and Phil Gramm are somehow not responsible for the current financial debacle.
Here’s a radical idea. Try reading the actual truth of the matter for a change:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jim-moore/a-nation-of-village-idiot_b_127340.html
Cite another source, a non-partisan source, then I will gladly read the information and make an informed decision.
Here’s a short video for a start. Pay attention especially at 1:14. Look, his history and role, along with Phil Gramm’s, in this mess is clear and a matter of public record. No changing that.
http://beltwayblips.com/video/mccain_financial_crisis_flip_flops_abc_news_on/
I researched the “public record” you mention.
Here’s the truth.
Alan Greenspan, then Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, and Donna Tanoue, then Chairman of the FDIC, testified before the Senate Committee that the 1999 Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (Financial Services Modernization Act) was essential to economic growth and absolutely necessary.
Alan Greenspan, arguably the most astute economist in history, wanted this legislation. So it got done. Don’t blame this collapse on McCain.

Yes some republicans did infact orchestrate deregulation. AND in 1993 under Bill CLinton this was made possible.
The fact that our congress refused to see or hear the renewed need for regulation should be faulted.
The FACT that huge amounts of money from these organizations found it way to congress is disgusting.
At least John Mccain tried to alert the leadership. Obama had an opportunity to support McCain’s stand to reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac but he chose to pocket the bucks and shut his mouth.
We all got too happy with the astronomic growth in the stock market and the housing market we did not look to see the clouds gathering on the horizon. We spent like fools on credit instead of saving our money for a rainy day.
… because we deserve to be homeowners whether or not we can afford the mortgage and the credit card debt.
(Not directed at you, Jackie. Just a general gripe.)
What happened to personal responsibility?
We bought a house 50% less than what we qualified for because that’s what we could afford if one of us were to lose our job or get sick.
We drive used cars that are now paid off, so gas prices didn’t hit us as hard as those with two car payments.
Being raised by my grandparents who survived the depression taught me to “act my wage.”
But now, thanks to Wall Street, greedy lenders, and irresponsible buyers, I’ll be paying for that bigger house I didn’t get.
Grrrrrr.
Amen you tell the truth. My grandparents also weathered the Depression. I was blessed to have them live long enough to pass off these lessons to me. (I still have a Grandpa
)
I don’t carry a balance on my credit cards. I live with in my means. I have a years supply in my basement.
I buy what I need and on occasion treat myself to a special thing.
Others have pooched this.
I’ll read the truth about John McCain when you read the truth about obama. Not only do I get to screw you for screwing my candidate, I also get an experienced president who actually cars about his consituents in the white house. two birds with one stone is how i see it, next time around, you’ll think about it.
Two, four, six, eight
What would we appreciate?

damn that girl is fierce. Grrrrrrr. Yall think she is a puma at heart. I can hear the obama, nuts now ” that was written by karl rove.” I really think Palin, is sitting quietly during the attacks they make on her just so, she can rip them a new one. i seems she’s cool with being underestimate, and she uses that foolishness to her benefit, not because of sympathy but because her accusers never see it coming.
Not a SINGLE news organization, outside of Fox News (primarily Hannity lol) is even mentioning this. Bill O’Reilly is kissing Obama’s ass so heartily it’s embarrassing and the rest of the MSM doesn’t intend to mention it. Every now and again over the past couple of days, an expert appearing on CNN will try to defend McCain, but they usually shoot that individual down. It’s shameful.
MSNBC was running their ticker just now about Palin hitting Biden on the “Patriotic” tax increase plan of Biden and Obama. I am shocked!

obama is going to crap right in his pants when he sees that.
LOL what type of melt down do you think obama and his one third of his angelic host. going to have. LOL. You know guys During the primaries I loved, obama and hillary clinton back and forth, and here i was thinking it was going to get boring. Beat his tail and take his lunch money sarah. and should his big sister Michelle decides to get into it kick her behind too.
The only problem is that drilling won’t get us there, because we’ve only got 3% of the world’s oil reserves while we use over 25% of total global oil production. China and India are going to increasingly compete for those supplies. China currently holds over $2 trillion U.S. dollars, and we’re borrowing from them at a frightful rate. That gives them a bit of an edge.
Alternative energy development is our only way out of the trap. We can’t put that on the back burner for 4 years while domestic oil companies set themselves up to profit from the global oil demand by draining off our remaining U.S. reserves. We will require those domestic reserves in the future for far more vital purposes.

There are only a couple of reasons why profit-oriented special interests donate money to a candidate, right?
Either they’re hoping to buy influence directly, or they believe a particular candidate’s policies will create an environment generally more favorable for their interests and activities.
Politicians are only too happy to take campaign contributions during an election year. You’ve got to be a seriously irreputable source before your money will be turned down. I don’t believe this applies only to Barack Obama. John McCain, for example, has received over $1.2 million in contributions from the oil industry since the beginning of the year.
The issue is the extent to which a politician’s positions and actions appear to be influenced by such contributions. Whatever influence Fannie Mae, Freddic Mac, Lehman Brothers, AIG, and Bear Stearns hoped to gain with either Obama or McCain doesn’t seem particularly relevant at this point. Both have been very critical of their practices, and both are calling for increased transparency and regulation.
Obama cannot win an honest election. The electoral map does not favor Democrats and hasn’t in decades. With the Republicans well organized in the south and the right wing pumped while the Democratic Party is split–it would be impossible for Democrats to win all but their 14-15 state industrial base and even that is shakey right now. Obama has been told that if the tracking polls stay even he will lose. The reality is that 6% of the population will not vote for an AA for president. Its called the Bradley Effect. People tells the pollsters one thing while they do the opposite.
Its up to the Republican Party vigilance to keep Obama from stealing this. Let the media crow about Obama–the voters rule this year.
The republicans appear to have stolen the last two presidential elections. There’s abundant evidence. In 2004 in Ohio alone, 239,127 votes for President of the United States were dumped, rejected, or blocked. There was also the strategy of putting fully functional voting machines into storage on election day in predominantly democratic districts, resulting in voter lines that were hours long.
There are indications republicans are doing their best to rig the 2008 election as well. “Caging” strategies are being pursued in key states–including Ohio–focusing on young and minority voters. One thing they’re doing is making up challenge lists based upon the addresses of foreclosed properties–knowing damn well that in many democratic areas it’s young and minority voters who have lost their homes. If that’s actually a legitimate effort to even-handedly clean up registration records, it should be applied equally to all voting districts.
Don’t expect such tactics to go unchallenged in 2008. Lessons have been learned from 2000 and 2004.
Well at least you Republicans aren’t pretending to be Hillary supporters anymore.
On the contrary, I’m a Hillary supporter who is now a Republican.
And at least you are trying to not pretending to be democratic, and support our constitution. Nazi trumps Republican you loose.

Great job thanks!
Larry, I know this is off topic, but I heard last night that someone hacked into Sarah Palin’s email account and published them on the internet, along with family pictures. I think they even put up Bristol Palin’s cell#. This has got to be illegal. I know that with your expertise that you could find out who the scumbag is who did this. I would love it if it was someone employed by the Obama campaign.
Thanks!
McCain/Palin are rallying us. It’s just exactly what this country needs…to be a part of the solution instead of being used by Obama and his ilk.
This is our own “WWII” – to save our country from those that would destroy it in order for foreign competitors and socialists to rule.
Sounds far fetched, but wonder if it really is?

Larry, I must post a protest of your premise.
Capitalism gone amuck is exactly what has happened
here. The meltdown in the financial markets is
real and is the fault of unregulated markets.
I do agree that Obama is not clean on this issue,
among others. Freddie MAC is the Enron
of the Democratic party. There is no other
way to get around it. This crisis goes well
beyong Freddie and Fannie though.
Most of the nations largest financial institutions
are very much so guilty of lobbying for
losening the rules. This has been the trend
since Reagan came along. We can no longer afford
to go on this current path. We must re-regulate
a sizable part of the economy. The financial firms
must be re-regulated and broken up.
Investment banks and commerical banks must NOT
be intertwined. There are too many conflicts of interest.
It is true that Obama was against tightening lending regulations
while McCain was for it. Sadly, it was Bush who was also
on the side of Obama in opposing these rules too.
I do believe that Obama will do the bidding of Fannie and Freddie
if he is President. He will re-regulate to a certain extent
as will McCain. Neither will go as far as Hillary
would have and that is to reinstate the Glass-Steagal Act,
relagating Investment Banks, Commercial Banks, and Insurance Companies
as three seperate entities that can own no more than a 5%
stake in each other.
McCain will not push re-regulation too hard because
he is center-right on economic issues.
We needed Hillary at this time and we are stuck
with two choices who will not uproot and reform the
status quo.
There is nothing wrong with capitalism. The version of capitalism constructed with the CRA and the financial models of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were profoundly flawed. If businesses are badly run, they should be allowed to fail and the taxpayer should not be on the hook.
It hasn’t helped to have Sarbanes Oxley around the companies’ necks, either. Extreme cases make bad law, as in Sarb-Ox, an overreaction to the Enron debacle.
I agree that something like the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933, killed in 1999, needs to be put in place to separate banks from insurance and investments. The problem is the ineffectual morass of regulatory agencies that are not doing the job right now and all the corruption of the politicians charged with oversight like Dodd and Frank.
I just read Obama’s plan and he has no solution for this mess:
http://my.barackobama.com/page/s/economyplan
He sucks up the money from Fannie Mae, Citigroup, who lobbied heavily against Glass-Steagall, and other top financial institutions. Fat chance he’d do what’s badly needed because he’s in their pockets and their cash is in his.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
This is our great challenge.
Today we face enemies abroad and financial messes within.
We must be one nation and look to a leader who has a steady hand. WHo seeks the advice in humility, not with a preordained answer.
We can be like the “Greatest Generation” and solve this. We are without question the most innovative people on the planet.
We are the most generous people ever to grace the planet. We have made the most innovation for human good.
This is one more challenge for us, shall we rise to the occasion with John McCain or shall we roll over like Barack Obama has asked us to do in Iraq and now? This is not to hard for AMERICANS.

A Chicagoan’s Perspective on Obama, Rezko and Corruption

Rezko, Obama, and Chicago Corruption
by Abraham H. Miller
July 5, 2008
Abraham H. Miller is an emeritus professor of political science. He grew up in Chicago’s notorious 24th Ward, and he is author of a recent work of Chicago-based fiction, ‘Vorshavsky: A Chicago Story.’
If Tony Rezko were young, blonde and disappeared on a Caribbean Island, Greta Van Sustern would have been all over the Rezko trial. And that very particular Chicago definition of ‘clout’ would have been ingrained in everyone’s lexicon.
But Tony (Antoin) Rezko is simply another middle-aged, bald, Chicago developer who was involved in an influence peddling and kick-back scheme that was connected to a number of politicians, a couple of pension funds, an Iraqi businessman (prepared to upfront millions for bail) and, oh yes, Senator Barack Obama. A jury hit Tony with a conviction on sixteen felony counts out of twenty four in the indictment.
Corruption, at least corruption old-fashioned Chicago style, is par for the city’s political culture. Unlike corruption in other cities, Chicago corruption usually trickled down to the little guy. The myth is that everyone benefited. Of course, some people benefited a lot more than others.
And Chicago corruption was always underscored by a nice dose of reality. When one prominent politician was asked about directing the city’s insurance business to his relatives, he gave a resoundingly uncomplicated answer: Why would anyone bother to go into politics, if he couldn’t throw a little business to his loved ones.
We Chicagoans can resonate to the crisp truthfulness of the response.
Unlike academia where the corruption is so intense, the stakes are so small, and the justifications truly Kafkaesque, the guy on the right side of the take in Chicago could, well, like Tony Rezko, buy a great mansion in fashionable Wilmette, or like Barack Obama get a real discount on a mansion in trendy and liberal Hyde Park-Kenwood.
No further rationale would be required.
Since 1972, on average two Chicago politicians per year have been convicted of felonies. In 1991, when not one Chicago Alderman was convicted or even indicted, the Sun-Times ran that deviant event as a front-page story.
Michelle Obama spent just three years at the Chicago Law Firm of Sidley Austin, where she met Bernadine Dorn (the convicted bomber wife of William Ayers) far less than a typical associate on the career path to be partner. In a move incongruous with the alleged iconic credentials that are a mainstay of the Michelle hagiography, she took a job with the Democratic machine.
Probably some people think you leave a high- powered, prestigious law firm like Sidley Austin to take a job with the Chicago machine to save the world. But no one who knows how Chicago works is going to buy that!
Michelle was subsequently hired by the University of Chicago, ultimately ending up as the University of Chicago Hospital’s Vice President for External Affairs. Barack was chair of the Illinois Senate’s powerful Health and Human Services Committee, the position tied by some to the Rezko scandal.
If you don’t get the picture, you are definitely not from Chicago.
In 2007 the not-for-profit University of Chicago hospital turned out a profit of 143 million, and is up 118 million for 2008. The hospital is scheduled to receive a 30 million infusion from Medicaid, and will be turning some of its Medicaid patients to another hospital to free up space for its private insurance paying patients. According to the (London ) Daily Mail (online), in 2006 the hospital turned away an indigent man, who died.
When Michelle exhorts young people to turn down the profit system and do something meaningful with their lives, apparently this is not the example she means to convey.
A couple of months after her husband was sworn in as U.S. Senator, Michelle’s salary at the Medical Center was raised from $121,910 to $316,962.
It appears that Barack Obama, allegedly decent guy and agent of “change” in Washington, requested an earmark in 2006 for $1 million taxpayer dollars for the hospital where his wife works.
The Chicago Tribune reported that Mrs. Obama’s compensation at the University of Chicago Hospital, where she is a Vice President for Community Affairs, jumped from $121,910 in 2004, just before her husband was elected to the Senate, to $316,962 in 2005, just after he took office.
Do you know of anyone that has ever gotten a 260% raise?
Now, I know that there are lots of ways to talk about transactions like this involving public officials — quid pro quo, etc., but I prefer to just say that we’re dealing with good, old fashioned, public corruption here.
Now you might ask what does a community relations director at a university do? That’s really a naive question. The question is who does the community relation’s director know?
The answer became apparent when Barack was elected to the U.S. Senate and Michelle’s salary more than doubled.
Barack and Michelle were a power couple hooked into the Democratic machine. Tony Rezko cultivated them, the Chicago Way. When the Obamas bought their mansion in trendy Hyde Park-Kenwood, Mrs. Rezko bought the lot next door for asking price in a coordinated deal from the same seller. The Obamas got their house at a discount. Mrs. Rezko paid full price. Later, Mrs. Rezko sold part of the lot to the Obamas to expand their back yard.
What Rezko wanted from Obama became apparent later.
To understand the genius of Rezko, you need to understand that for generations, corruption in Chicago was partisan specific. As my mother used to say when she split her ticket, ‘You need some Republicans. Then the machine can’t steal as much.’
But then came the Chicago Combine: bipartisan corruption you could believe in. Rezko established a typical Chicago ‘pay for play’ scheme, but one that crossed party lines. You want to build a hospital, you had to pay Rezko, who paid the appropriate people who could help you play. The problem that Rezko faced was the hospital board had fifteen members and that is a lot of people to bribe and a lot of loose ends. But then Rezko had a friend who chaired the Illinois Senate’s Health and Human Services Committee.
Enter State Senator Barack Obama, who is credited as the moving force behind a piece of bipartisan legislation (Il. Senate Bill 1332) that reduced the hospital board to nine people, to be appointed by Governor Rod Blagojevich (know as Governor ‘Blago’) with advice and consent of the Illinois Senate.
Blago immediately appointed three physicians, Rezko cronies with similar Middle Eastern backgrounds, all of whom were coincidentally big contributors to Barack Obama. As they say downtown, Barack knows how to walk the Chicago Way. Rezko became the guy you saw if you wanted to build a health care facility. He controlled the board’s votes.
The three appointed physicians have been convicted in the Federal probe and are rumored to be about ready to sing.
Patricia Blagojevich, the governor’s wife, is next in line for an indictment. The Chicago press is now 24/7 on active ‘Patti Watch.’
For his part, Rezko just sent a ‘I will not rat out my pals letter,’ to United States District Judge Amy St. Eve. Veteran observers of the Chicago crime scene note that the guys who don’t sing, don’t write letters. They just clam up. You write a letter because you want the other guys to be reminded to take care of your wife and kids’college is expensive.
So, what else does Rezko expect, a presidential pardon, ala Bill Clinton and Carlos Vignali, the dope dealer Clinton’s brother-in-law, Hugh Rodham, represented?
So, here’s the deal. If you don’t want a president making it in the alcove near the Oval Office, don’t elect a guy with a history as a rake and a swordsman. If you don’t want a president who can’t negotiate with the majority of his own party, don’t elect a backwoods, Southern governor with a Jesus complex. If you don’t want a president who orders the break in of the opposition, don’t elect a guy whose career was saturated by paranoia.
And if you want to make sure that the White House is not going to be tainted by corruption, don’t elect a president who grew up in the Chicago political system and whose wife thinks that the country owes her some palliative to eliminate her sense of personal shame. Because unlike the stock market, when it comes to human behavior, past performance really is indicative of future results.

Federal prosecutors asked a judge Monday to indefinitely postpone Tony Rezko’s scheduled Oct. 28 sentencing on corruption charges, acknowledging they are engaged in talks with the former top political fund-raiser for Sen. Barack Obama, Gov. Blagojevich and others “that could affect . . . sentencing.”
The Chicago Sun-Times first reported in August that Rezko might be cooperating with prosecutors. Since then, the talks, and the prosecution’s efforts to confirm information Rezko has provided, have been an open secret. In September, sources close to the investigation confirmed the talks to the Sun-Times but said there was no deal with Rezko.

The 53-year-old Wilmette businessman, who at one time was a top adviser to Blagojevich, was convicted in June of wide-ranging corruption tied to state deals. He could face a lengthy prison term and still faces two more criminal trials.
Several criminal-defense lawyers, who spoke to the Sun-Times only on the condition they not be named, said prosecutors have asked to interview or reinterview their clients about allegations that Blagojevich’s campaign took contributions in exchange for state contracts or appointments. One lawyer said prosecutors told him they sought the interview in response to new information provided by Rezko.
On Sunday, the Sun-Times reported the FBI has interviewed witnesses about a rehab project at the governor’s home that was done by a Rezko-owned contractor.
Federal authorities also have been reviewing real estate dealings involving Blagojevich’s wife Patti, who works in real estate, and campaign contributors including Rezko.
A U.S. attorney’s office spokesman would not comment Monday. Rezko’s lawyers could not be reached.
If a judge agrees to delay Rezko’s sentencing, it could be good news for Democratic presidential nominee Obama because the former Obama friend and fund-raiser was set to be sentenced just days before the Nov. 4 election.
Rezko… Blagojevich… Obama?
Friday, September 26, 2008
WJBC/1230 is reporting:
Could Illinois Governor Blagojevich suffer the same fate as convicted former Governor George Ryan? Sources tell CBS 2 News Chicago that Federal agents claim to have enough evidence to indict Blagojevich on fraud and conspiracy charges. However, the report says the investigators aren’t the ones who make the decision to prosecute. That would be up to U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald and the Justice Department in Washington.
This set of charges is, essentially, based on testimony taken at the trial of Tony Rezko. Rezko, Blagojevich, Obama, are all names that keep coming up in that trial. Blagojevich,is an Obama supporter, of course, but more than this… the two apparently have had a working relationship as close as that between Obama and confessed bomber William Ayers.
And of course the mainstream is not paying attention to this story. Gee, I can’t think of why they wouldn’t, huh? Perhaps they’re afraid of what they’ll find?
Personally, I’m waiting for Obama to make the now hackneyed statement that this is not the Blagojevich he thought he knew.
