A Flurry of New Ads from the McCain Campaign — From the Economy to Fannie Mae to Taxes to Chávez

Nothing New

Taxes Are Patriotic

Proven Reformers

Jim Johnson, former CEO of Fannie Mae and former Obama Advisor

Do You Believe We Should Talk to Chávez?

¿Tú Crees Que Debemos Hablar Con Chávez?

The Chávez spots are 60 second spots and running in Florida. Chávez’s remarks were made last week, you can them in full in the Latin America category. How anyone can think that Chávez is not a serious threat is beyond me.

The other spots are 30 second spots. McCain airing spots in 15 states. For all the talk of an expanded electoral map, both campaigns are concentrating resources in traditional battlegrounds, with slightly more than half the total spent on advertising going to Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Indiana, Minnesota and Pennsylvania. Other states seeing ad buys are Nevada, New Mexico, Florida, Virginia, Missouri and Colorado.

Funny stuff from a board full of people claiming to support Hillary.

It’s been a while since I posted here and funnily the people that used to pretend to be Democrats are posting hard right crap under their old names. Not even pretending anymore are these operation chaos bots.

Flurry of Ads = Blizzard of Lies.

Comment by athena | 2008-09-20 12:39:32

What lies? McCain sites EVERY source for EVERY claim in EVERY ad when it is released. Does Obamboozle-em do that? Uh, er, um – No!

Easier to pull up names guaranteed to provoke a response and scream LIAR than refute the claims or provide your own links.

And some of us adopted cute little appendixes to our names like “Republican” and “Neocon” as throughout this whole election, that has been the Obama brownshirt way: attack your accuser. Question their patriotism, honesty or loyalty.

Comment by LilRod | 2008-09-20 16:49:42

These Obamatrots are so blind that they cannot see that it is them who are acting like the traditional Republicans with their ad hominem attacks.

ee, you’re dealing with a bunch of tin-foiled hat wearing conspiracy theorists. They continue to post lie after lie in the hopes that something sticks. From the whitey tape to Larry Sinclair to the citizenship lawsuit etc. All the rumors or fake controversies have been debunked every time. Larry Johnson has these PUMAs trained well. They are in total denial since Hillary was defeated, and will stop at nothing to discredit Obama. Even if it makes them look like paranoid, xenophobic, lunatics. I can see why they like McCain, because he is willing to make an ass out of himself to beat Obama too.

Comment by SFhillary | 2008-09-20 11:54:00

Heavy artillery? LOL. McCain has no heavy artillery. He is in the process of being crushed. Utterly crushed. He would have lost anyway, but Palin is a disaster — seriously, have you read how many of her events have been cancelled for the next two weeks? — and the Wall Street crash is completely devastating. That event hasn’t just destroyed McCain’s candidacy — it has, definitively, ended the conservative era in American politics that began with Reagan’s election in 1980. In the weeks to come, voters are going to figure out that McCain remains on the record advocating privatizing Social Security — yeah, put my retirement account in the stock market, great idea — and deregulating health care — yeah, let’s put the health insurance of three hundred million Americans into a derivatives market, just like we did for a hundred million mortgages! And he is still on the record advocating these positions today! LOL. He can run all the sleazy, lying, disgusting negative ads he wants — he is TOAST. Palin is headed back to Alaska, McCain is headed into a shameful, dishonorable place in history, and you PUMAs are headed to your shrinks to refill your Prozac prescriptions.

LOL. I would estimate that in a typical year I make about as much as three or four average PUMAs put together. None of it comes from Obama, though. In fact, the flow of money is decidely in the opposite direction: I’ll probably give him the max allowable by the time November 4th rolls around.

Comment by HC | 2008-09-20 12:24:46

Remember there are only 12 PUMAs, so you probably make more than all of us together.

So why haven’t you maxed out for Obama yet? Hedging your bets?

Its only $2300, clearly chump change for a person of your stature.

Comment by SFhillary | 2008-09-20 12:28:38

Not quite chump change, I’m not that rich. But I will probably hit 2,300 pretty soon.

Comment by SFhillary | 2008-09-20 12:16:36

That’s because the rallies are filled with “base” Republicans. Palin has definitely excited the base and won McCain some evangelical votes that he might not have received. But it is now clear that she is a huge turnoff to centrist middle Americans. Or hadn’t you noticed that McCain has been tanking in every single poll of the last week? And is now losing in the electoral college by a fairly wide margin?

Oh well, don’t worry about it. Ignore me, I’m just a troll. I’ll just be here to taunt you and laugh at you on Election Day. I can’t wait to hear all you irrational, crazy people wailing and gnashing your teeth over the advent of President Obama.

(The post begins with a criticism of Obamabots).

Start several paragraphs down, with Gallup poll discussion. If you pay real close attention, you will see that these polls have a little-discussed factor called weight, which is there to bamboozle and hoodwink people–or not; it all depends on the pollster.

Why do you think McCain is catching Obama in PA, MI, MN and WS?

And in the past week:

Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a prominent Hillary Clinton supporter and member of the Democratic National Committee’s Platform Committee, will endorsed McCain/Palin.

Miguel D. Lausell, a Puerto Rican businessman and longtime Democratic activist and fund-raiser, came out for McCain/Palin.

And that home loan he got from a convicted felon? Nothing to see here, folks. GODDAMN US OF AMERIKKKA? That was the only time Rev. Jeremiah Wright ever said such a thing. sfh,

Would you care to lay a wager on Obama? I’ll wager you 1/5th of an ounce of Canadian gold (purest gold avaialable in coin) that McCain wins.

Barring a disasterous event for either campaign, I think the debates will determine this election.

[Warning: At this point I become delirious.] The debate will determine the election because it will be framed by a very effective Republican ad. This ad will begin with a quote from Obama from when he was running for the Illinois senate. He accused the Republican encumbent of a lack of integrity because the encumbent tended to vote “present,” which, according to Obama, was a way to avoid taking a stand.

Obama is on record as being a man with almost no record, other than the record of being the man who voted present, per capita, more times than any other senator. Obama’s words in the debate will lose their punch because his past actions demonstrate that he rarely takes principled stands. It is difficult to take a stand when one sits on the fence so much that the fence post jams so far up the ass that it prevents either of the feet from reaching the ground. “Obama. Present, but not accountable.” {delirium state ends}

As you know from our discussions, I think Nader or McKinney are the only presidential candidates that deserve the votes of center-left Democrats.

Shall we wager?

SM

sfh knows Obama’s flaws, but thinks Obama is better for America than McCain. sfh has legitimate concerns about a McCain presidency. sfh is not an Obama sycophant.

You know what Shillary. She is longer running. We were left behind by our golden girl. So get over it. The best way of getting over it, is to do what most of us are doing, voting country first. I will not change my views on Obama and I will not vote because I am a democrat like some of you idiots on this blog want to do. I remember the ties of Obama, and these type of people I don’t want in our wonderful whitehouse. You liberals are making such a big deal about abortion rights and gay rights. Has anything changed for the last 8 years on these topics under the Republicans? No! It hasn’t, so shut up already! You are bringing up abortion rights to scare the women, maybe it is working. So, I will first apologize to all the gay people on this blog and all the abortioner. Dear Republicans, if you want to really start dirty politics, this is the way you do it. Take an ad and show all the parades of the gay people, show them kissing while getting married, show the Planned Parent orginizations and a bunch of babies being aborted, and then show the grassroots and their loving families and their values- PLAY OVER AND OVER AGAIN- YOU WILL WIN! AS I stated before, forgive me for offending anyone that has these views, but, you know what? You started the dirty politics and we need to rise up our catholics, protestants, and all the parents with values back to our corner. Get over it! You have my permission to dirty you hands with my idea. The liberals don’t give a damn about our country and rather put some guy who is not qualified to run it, so, do what you have to do. Play dirty.

Comment by benny | 2008-09-20 11:37:17

I’m off topic here, but this concerns a woman too. I was outraged by this. don’t know if its been covered here….

NEW YORK (CBS) ― Already under fire for his tax troubles, Manhattan Congressman Charles Rangel really put his foot in his mouth on Friday.

In a CBS 2 HD exclusive interview Rep. Rangel called Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin “disabled.”

The question was simple. Why are the Democrats so afraid of Palin and her popularity?

The answer was astonishing.

“You got to be kind to the disabled,” Rangel said.

That’s right. The charman of the powerful House Ways & Means Committee called Palin disabled — even when CBS 2 HD called him on it.

CBS 2 HD: “You got to be kind to the disabled???”

Rangel: “She’s disabled.”

“There is no question about politically it’s a nightmare to think that a person’s foreign policy is based on their ability to look at Russia from where they live.”

Republicans think Rangel’s comments are insulting as well as shocking.

“Charlie Rangel’s comments are clearly disgraceful,” Rep. Peter King, R-Long Island, said. “This is just another liberal Democrat who can’t accept an independent woman running for president.”

King, who is co-chair of the McCain-Palin campaign in New York, watched Rangel’s comments with CBS 2 HD. He was particularly upset because Palin’s 4-month-old son, Trig, is disabled. He has Down’s syndrome.

“We should be sensitive to her or any woman who has a child or family member who has any afflciiton at all,” King said. “And so to use the word disabled in the context of a female candidate for vice president who has a child who is disabled really is wrong. Charlie owes her and the entire disabled community and apology.”

Comment by Less | 2008-09-20 12:24:07

He’s a low life crook and honest people like Palin are “disabled” from his viewpoint. He is evil and evil dispises honesty and integrity. Its as simple as that.

Rumored Plot By Dems To Steal Election

1. In Michigan, ACORN, the group Barack worked with while “community organizing” has been caught doing fraudulent voter registrations including duplicate registrations so a Dem voter can vote twice in two different precincts.

2. For months, the Obama campaign has been sending its supporters in dark blue and dark red states into neighboring swing states to register voters.

3. A rumored plot by Dems to stael the election goes like this:

Certain Obama supporters will vote by absentee ballots ahead of time so they need not be in their home states on election day.

On election day, they will allegedly pour into nearby swing states to vote fraudulently. The rumored plan is for Obama supporters in CA to head to Las Vegas (by car and bus) to try to steal Nevada; supporters in TX will pour into NM; supporters in MA and VT will pour into NH; supporters in NYC will pour into PA; supporters in MD will pour into VA; and supporters in Chicago will pour into MI, IN, and OH.

Federal and state authorities need to be vigilant to intervene in this rumored plot if it manifests on election day.

Comment by Hillary or Bust | 2008-09-20 11:51:58

Seeing what they did in the caucuses, this would not surprise me at all. Where did you hear this?

Comment by Elizabeth | 2008-09-20 12:01:38

I don’t know about other states, but in Indiana residents need to show an Indiana driver license, Indiana photo ID card, Military ID or US passport to vote. The ID law is the strictest in the country.

The voter registration deadline is also 29 days before the election so it won’t be the lack of vigilance here that carries him over the line.

Comment by Hillary or Bust | 2008-09-20 12:09:09

I don’t understand why people don’t have to show IDs to vote everywhere. Where I vote here in California, I just have to walk in and give my name and sign the piece of paper. It’s extremely flimsy.

I can’t vote in Michigan without my picture i.d.

That’s as it should be. I don’t understand why it isn’t that way all over the country.

Comment by bemused | 2008-09-20 16:21:11

Because of hysterical people claiming that having ID is one step toward the government controlling them! like you can do anything nowadays without a picture ID. Seriously, that’s an argument by conservatives, and then the kind that would like ACORN will argue that having to have an ID would “disenfranchise” people who somehow can’t obtain one or don’t know they should have one. I think if they can’t get an ID they aren’t involved enough to vote, because (at least where I am) there are any number of supportive groups that would help; churches, schools even.

There are only a few questions Americans will never have to ask themselves about John Mccain:

Who is this man?

Can you trust him with the Presidency?

Furthermore, WHo would you rather have managed your money – John Mccain or BArack Obama?

Those are the questions many AMericans must ask themselves this November.

WHo would you trust to handle your money in these times of Geo Political and economic crisis?

Comment by Shiloh | 2008-09-20 12:03:00

I see a great ad there: A pic of Obama with “who is this man?” Followed by a pic of McCain with “who is “this” man?” Repeat with “do you trust him with the presidency?” Then end with both pics up and “which would you rather have looking out for your wallet?”

I think all of Obama’s promise to spend, spend, spend will be his downfall. Just about everyone is concerned about the trillion we just spent on Wall Street. Obama keeps going around promising a few more million for this, another billion for that, 1.5 billion for this, a few million for that, etc etc…even the not so bright are questioning the math. Obama thinks the money is coming from where???? Trees?

Comment by Obama is a bum | 2008-09-20 13:51:55

I think all of Obama’s promise to spend, spend, spend will be his downfall.

It won’t be his downfall until he gets in the White House. The Obama campaign is all about adjusting his position daily to pander for votes. When O’Reilly interviewed Obama, O’Reilly got Obama to agree to only raise capital gains taxes to 20% instead of what Obama proposed of 28%. Obama did that very easily, but what does that mean? It means Obama is pandering for votes, the next day he can agree to make it 40% depending on who he is talking to. Anyone who has not figured Obama out by now has their head in the sand or an IQ of single digits and ought not be voting.

I feel confidant of our election system here in TN.
I have to sign in and indicate which primary or general election.
Secondly, I produce I.D. and sign again.
Thirdly, I sign the actual voters log, and the signatures are compared.
At that point, I am issued a four digit number that I enter into my ballot machine.
There will be a record of numbers of voters, but not how we voted.
Yes, persons have been nabbed by voting early, and then on election day!

Has anyone seen the letter the Knights of Columbus has sent out to all of their members about Senator Biden? If Obama thought that Senator Biden was going to win over working-class Catholics and do a better job than Senator Clinton–he may have made a severe miscalculation. They probably would have supported Senator Clinton, but they do not like a politician who tries to preach phony doctrine and claim to be speaking for Catholics. Do a search for the letter and see what you think.

National polls mean zilch adn mccain is ahead in electoral college.
Also, for voter fraud trust me republicans have lawyers and poll wathcers they probably also have some good tricks up their sleeves.
Also, SF who do you think goes to obama rallies?
It is funny because not so long ago you were on hitting obama over the head and now all of the sudden your criticizm does not apply.
As for rallies SF, of course it is the base, who goes to obama and bidens rallies? the base.
You win elections by firing up the base and getting them to get out the vote.
They are pulling in rallies with over 10,000 poeple.
Wisconsin they had 11,000. Minnesota yesterday 15,000.
The press is not stopping anyone from getting out to see them. Nor is obama’s ads. To be honest when i see an ad from obama i change the channel. I live in PA. Taylor made for McCain/Palin. If any of these polls showing Obama way up are weighting Democrats more heavily, they are wrong. I am still a registered Democrat until the election is over.

I was called out for being a troll last week when I pointed out the obvious, by saying that the polls are trending away form McCain, and this election is in real danger of snowballing out of control.

I stated then, and I will say it again … McCain needs to abandon the high road, and get down in the gutter with Obama.

McCain can run all the ads he wants about taxes and the economy, and about who has more lobbyists, and about who took campaign contributions from who, and about whos campaign staff has ties to who, all that stuff wont ad up to a bucket of spit.

Obama has all the polls moving his way. Obama has the FULL support of the media to carry and message he wants to send, if McCain is to change things around he needs to bring out the big guns.

McCain needs to get over this “I will run a honorable campaign and never question Obamas patriotism”, and wake up and smell the coffee. McCain is taking a plastic fork to a knife fight.

Obama will just absolutely run him over with attacks on McCains age, and honor. His attacks calling McCain a racist to the spanish community are deadly. Do you know how many hispanics there are in these crucial western swing states ?

People on this site seem to think that just because we can research a subject using the internet, and just because we can see all the fine details of the arguement, that everybody can. You could not be more wrong. The AVERAGE voter unsterdands things when put in a very simple way, and they never to be hit over the head with a hammer to understand.

The average voter understands when Obama calls mccain too old and a racist. The average voter understands when a obot “gets in his face

Obama is running the republican campaign of getting down and dirty.

mccain is running the democratic campaign of being passive and relying on the public to read between the complex lines on all the issue.

Quite simply mccain is running a extremly poor campaign. the republican base is starting to get very uneasy with mccains passive campaign.

we are in danger of not only seeing mccain slip farther and farther in the polls, but his base is starting to show signs of becoming unenthusiastic again.

McCain NEEDS TO START HITTING OBAMA WITH SOME RED MEAT TO GET THE BASE FIRED UP AGAIN, TO STOP THE SLIDE IN THE POLLS, AND TO SCORE SOME POINTS WITH LOW INFO VOTER WHO RESPONDS TO RED MEAT.

If the whitey tapes really do exist, thenm mccain needs to release them. mccain needs to stop saying in his stump speeches that he “will never question obamas patriotism or love of this country”

McCain needs to start acting likehe is in it to win it.

The republican attack machine so far has been even more tame than the campaign hillary was running and she was a democrat.

early starts in less than 2 weeks, its quickly becoming too late for mccain to turn it around

Comment by benny | 2008-09-20 12:42:00

Why do you think we called you a troll, JM? If you’re a true repub, go to repub blogs. dont come here and try and dis-respect hillary. when you did do that, we identified you as a troll. try and understand, thats if you can.

Comment by jangles | 2008-09-20 16:20:31

I am afraid that JM is right. MC Cain is going to have to go for the jugular and it is going to get ugly. I hope there are Republican oriented 527s out there who will stop at nothing. I do disagree with JM about one thing—it is not too late. I think candidates have to be careful about how they go for the jugular and when. In the past the presidential’s have not really moved to decision until the last two weeks and after the World Series. This campaign has been so long that that may be different this year but I really don’t think so. People like us follow this race everyday, relentlessly. Most people don’t. They are busy with real life. A couple of weeks before they actually vote they focus on what is happening.

Comment by Hope Floats! Flush Twice! | 2008-09-20 18:07:07

McCain has said he’s going to start hitting hard. You always do that in October. YEAH, I SAID ALWAYS. We are 46 days away from election day. The grand finale is timed for when it will create a lasting impression with voters. We just had an unprecedented financial catastrophe. Candidates spent the week making statements about that that would address the problem and not come back to haunt them. Before that was the McCain ads that were best released when he was slightly ahead, and the media predictably called him a liar, etc. That’s predictable. It is understandable that after all this time he is still even with Obama in the polls, but he is running a good ground game. Most Americans distrust the media now. More voters are turning up to hear him and Palin speak in person, and they are liking what they’re hearing. McCain is doing fine. He is it like he is in it to win it. His economic proposal was exceptional.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2008/09/mccains_economic_speech_in_gre.html

He is where he needs to be in state polls. And the debates haven’t even begun yet. First the Rev. Wright and Ayers stuff will come out. Then the new stuff and maybe the Whitey Tape. McCain’s staff knows what it is doing.

You saw it with the Jeremiah Wright DVD. People were shocked when they first saw it but then the media excusers started in with “Well he did witness racism first hand so we can excuse his excesses from the pulpit”.

JM08 don’t feel bad, americans are easy to get caught up, but believe me Obama is a candidate type which is foreign to most americans heck he’s even foreign to me,but the best way to describe him is “cockroach” No other candidate should have been able to survive, thus far, but obama has. mcCain should have never allowed him to get off his back. Now that he has, it’s going to be hard to catch him again, and keep him away from the cracks bush’s aweful presidency has created.

however I am convince obama is a Charasmatic leader, he’s like david Koresh, Mason, hitler, jones and lucifier himself. and when these people go they make sure they they take plenty with them, and it. right now Mccains best bet is for obama’s followers to pull something, and mccain connects the dots. obama is the first politician to truly scare me. becasue he has the ability to make people, act irrationally. I don’t care what people say the venom that they have shown to the Clintons and Palin are way off the chart. Rosanne Barr (not know especially for her common sense) called angelina jolie spawn of the devil because she and brad don’t support obama, what was shocking is that it was unprovoked. People are so accustomed to throwing these statements out without even thinking. Somehow if any white person is not satuarated with white guilt then they are racist — that is how pathetic this nation has become and is the main reason Obama is where he is.

If the whitey tape is real- get it out there and put it with the “cutie” film- go get the dress crossers films and the gay marriages to remind the viewers that 50% of the democrats dress like this- get the bloody films showing the death of babies and then show the living ones in good homes. DO YOUR JOB! Or tell Mccain- that he was the wrong choice. Tell him to pick up his gun and act like he is fighting the Vietnam war for his country-not going around pussyfooting and waving and refusing to say anything about this Kenya man who is using dirty politics on him. Get the guns out already and do your job because the Hillary supporters are getting pretty tired of waiting to dismantle him and some are not just voting this year! MSNBC and CNN is in Obama’s pocket- the airwaves are promoting him- and lying about the polls- DO YOUR JOBS!

There is no so-called whitey tape otherwise it would have been out already. micHELLe hates white people and I do not doubt she has ranted against white people numerous times (Obama knocks white people in his own book). This rumor may have started to scare micHELLe into admitting she knocked whites thinking someone recorded her. This could have caused Obama to finally drop out. Obama and micHELLe were not about to lose their only chance at the White House unless the evidence was actually produced. Obama and micHELLe seem so out of place talking to rural whites that I can see they consider them as white trash. Of course, they are on their high horse of affirmative action.

Please it will be funny to watch them after all obama, wins. See the dear children don’t pay attention in history classes, most dictators kill their most ardent supporters after they get what ever they want. Especially if they start complaining when he tanks the economy, or doesn’t pay enough attention to black folks, who i think are the dumbest in all that, cause they aren’t asking what’s in it for me, and the few who have asked the question have gotten verbally bitch slapped. “if you don’t like it run for office yourself”. or attacked by their fellows, like Travis smiley who up until he had the nerve to question obama’s not being at “the black state of the union address” was a great guy, now he’s arrogent. I think they have sent him hate mail. They seem unable to grasp that obama is a sociopath, and he only does what benifits him, and once the election is over, and he’s gotten the loyalty vote, b-bye my brothers and sistahs. It’s the same reason he’s slapping down people like Scarlett and Lindsey. they will ruin his image so he will take their money, but not their on air support. the one silver lining on obama winning is getting to see Freedom Fighters face when obama manifests his clear disdain of black people, and how he didn’t give a rats putooki when he let elderly black people freeze while he took money from rezko. Yeah obama is moving on up but just like in Chicago, is not bring the rest of them along for the ride. Actions speak louder than words.

Obama supporters are quick to call his involvement with Raines and Johnson “no worse than John McCain’s involvement with Lincoln Savings, John Keating, and McCain’s role in the “Keating Five”. The difference is, no one from Lincoln Savings, including John Keating ever served on John McCain’s election campaigns. And, John McCain donated all campaign contributions from Keating, his relatives, and his employees to the US Treasury.

John McCain only requested that Federal Banking Regulators give Keating and Lincoln Savings a fair hearing, and make sure they were treated with due process by the regulatory agency. McCain specifically told regulators “I wouldn’t want any special favors for Keating or Lincoln Savings” and “I don’t want any part of our conversation to be improper”.

The Senate Ethics Committee probe of the Keating Five began in November 1990, and committee Special Counsel Robert Bennett, a Democrat, recommended that McCain and Ohio Senator John Glenn be dropped from the investigation.

In February 1991, the Senate Ethics Committee exonerated McCain and Glenn, saying “McCain and Glenn attended the meetings but did nothing to influence the regulators” and declared his actions were not “improper nor attended with gross negligence.”. McCain contributed $112,000 (the amount raised for him by Keating and associates) to the U.S. Treasury. http://www.slate.com/id/1004633/

What has Obama done with the money raised by Pritzker, Raines, and Johnson?

That’s right, get all of the big artillery out and scorch Barack Obama; never in our American history has there been a candidate who is exceedingly deficient in everything. And a socialist-communist trained by degenerate “mentors” and “tutors” from Satan’s vial gutter.

We need to inform those who do say, “I really don’t know much about Barack Obama.” For when they learn who Obama really is, look out! The public will become Obama’s number one problem. Tens of millions of voters will be looking to learn about the candidates, it’s our job to provide the truth.

Obama’s Fannie … Mae get scotched.

Elect John McCain and let’s live in free-market prosperity putting our beloved Country First!

I just took about 10 minutes to read McCain’s economic speech that he gave in Green Bay. I have to say I’m in agreement with most of it. His point about strengthening the dollar is RIGHT ON. The weakness of our currency is at the heart of food and fuel inflation (and that effects everyone). Putting a number to our dependence on foreign oil is also very effective, $700 BILLION per year (much of it going to Saudi Arabia) is sobering to say the least.

You can view or read it here, it’s worth a few minutes to get beyond the sound bites:

Just in case any of you are worried about the polls, a PUMA posted this earlier….and its true…..

Let me start with the polls from OCT 11 2004.
Kerry 280 – Bush 254
http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2004/Pres/Maps/Oct11.html
Does this not look familiar. Did anybody think that Bush with a 45 to 48 % approval rating going up against a veteran from Vietnam and Senator of 16 years could win? Especially since he was not truly elected in 2000? Everybody in the democratic circles had a sense that the wrongs of 2000 will be corrected and we will finally get a President in the White House who understood our problems and will put an end to the Iraq war. On Nov 1st things looked even better.

Kerry 298 – Bush 231
http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2004/Pres/Maps/Nov01.html

On Nov 5th 2004, however, those hopes died and everybody tried to find somebody to blame.

This year thing have not really changed. It will all come down to PA,OH, MI and VA

Let’s take PA for example.

Hillary won PA primaries by 55% (1.275 million). BO got about 1.04 million votes. That is 200K + difference. The 2004 election was decided by 144K votes. It will take no more then 20% of Hillary voters defecting to McCain to turn the state red. That is smaller then the 25% who said they will vote for McCain if Obama becomes the nominee in the exit polls.

Comment by JM08 | 2008-09-20 12:59:00

I am a republican. I live in Ohio, and I am very involved in the republican party in Ohio. Here are the facts.

1.McCain is red lighting the 527’s. Not because of the timing of realesing the ads, but because he honestly wants to run a clean campaign.

2.McCain is red lighting his own staff on questioning obamas patriotism for the same reason.

3.It is widely thought that the whitey tapes do exist in republican circles, but again mccain has red lighted there release.

The base is extremly dissatisfied with mccains high road approach. The base wants to go nuclear on obama on ALL subjects. A large portion of mccains staff also wants to go nuclear, but is stopped by mccain.

What I have heard from republicans in my state that are involved in the party is this …

McCain has until the first debate to abandon the high road and begin to attack obama, or there will be a push from the base, with the help of right wing talk radio and bloggers to have mccain step down for “heath reasons” and to promote palin to the top of the ticket and get Bobby Jindal for VP.

McCain is not only slipping in the national polls and the recent state polls, but his base is ready to leave him.

Comment by wodiej | 2008-09-20 13:03:37

I don’t understand what McCain is waiting for. This isn’t about making up shit…Obama is dangerous and the facts about him prove that. This is not about winning at all costs, this is about the welfare of our country.

It is unfortunate but not completely suprising that we have a half black candidate running for President who wouldn’t be anywhere near the Presidency except for his ethnicity. Affirmative action run amuck.

He is trying to stir up concern that McCain is “too nice.” Because what wins every election is national security, and the strongest candidate wins. This is BS. Both candidates are responding to the economic crisis. The debates haven’t happened yet. The conventions were held late. And McCain is hardly timid or nice.

Comment by Obama is a bum | 2008-09-20 14:40:03

McCain thinks he can get elected by being nice but that strategy won’t work against Obama. People can get turned off by too much negative campaigning but in Obama’s case he is loaded with negativity that makes him one big question mark. The media has done a disservice by ignoring all of Obama’s negativity and promoting him instead.

The majority of people in this country pay very little attention to politics and only watch the news which ignores Obama’s problems. The task of bringing out Obama for what he really is rests on McCain. Clinton failed to take on Obama’s character and judgment as well and lost. Forget about hurting blacks and guilty whites feelings at this point — it is time to do something for the country and derail Obama.

Comment by Paul3triple | 2008-09-20 13:00:01

i agree there is a snowball effect. These polls are so stupid to base your opinion. For one they say whatever the poller whishes them to say.
It is perception, what better than have the media all week speak of McCains lack in economics and then the polls reflect it to reinforce their message.
The fact is after he picked palin the snowball began to roll for them and lasted for 2 weeks.
Obama had a good week, even a garbage gets a steak.
McCain/Palin despite the onslaught from media is still drawing HUGE enthusiastic crowds.
JM08, McCain is still ahead in electoral college. It is good he took a lashing in the press this week. They fire their guns bet that.
The fact is you do not run your whole campaign on reverand wright.
The ads attaching him to Fannie and freddie and patriotic taxes will be good.
The polls are meant for perception. to constantly buy into them makes you foolish. Kerry was beating bush in the polls big time. AND LOST.
There is 45 days left. Next week will be tame waiting for the first debate. Then the artilery will come out in a heavy way. Mccain really did not have a bad week. The press had a good week in gotcha. Most of the stuff he got hit with were stupid things his staff said.

If it were so bad JM08, they would not be drawing 15,000 poeple crowds.
Your to worried about winning the meida wars. That is only important to an extent. And be honest with yourself. Even if McCains camp goes to the gutter the perception in the press will still be with obama, no matter what.
The press does not win an election. voters do.
Voters are turning out and volunteering in record numbers for the gop. And there are stil alot of dems who do not like obama.

The most important time of an election is the last 2 weeks. That is when Obama will be totally crushed with nasty ads and accusations.
Also, in a campaign you run on a strategy. That strategy does not change because a rough week. At least it should not.
McCain has an easier map than obama does. That is fact. He is also getting Dems to come out for him. alot of independants were repubs disenchanted with bush. They will come home, and you can bet Palin will be unleashed on the media full force after her first debate.

It is strategy JM08. You do not shoot blindly. You pinpoint and focus. The economy hurt mccain this week because he had advisors saying stupid things.
Friday he came out with anexcellent plan and he has found his meesage.

JM08 has in the past stated to everyone here that we are doomed, McCain is too dumb/weak/nice to win. Over and over. To the point that it was probably fairly called trolling. Hopefully these days are gone.

Reminding people that Obama plays dirty Chicagoland politics and that we must not slack off isnt trolling. Its true.

If you dont have enough of an in with McCain that his folks will take your advice, do the next best thing and campaign for him yourself.

It all helps, and it certainly beats sitting around feeling negative.

JM08 your idea of mac stepping down is just plain dumb. The conspiracy theories are killing me.
Also, just yesterday Mark Salter(LONGTIME ADVISER) said that they are tired of catching spears and will start playing guilt by association as well.
Trust me they will. I do not doubt mac wants to run a respectful campaign and good for him. That is honorable.
Of course it may not win.But what do you think the country first slogan is? A challenge to his patriotism. This is why i ask if you even pay attention to what McCain actually says.
Did you watch his rally yesterday? He went hard on obama. About his patriotism. A campaign is a strategy and you run it your way you planned as best you can.
No one can make mccain quit. And He is drwaing huge crowds and firing poeple up across the country. He is running super close in states he should not be.
PA,MI, WI,MN. All four of those were believed to be surefire obama states. If he loses any of those McCain wins the election.
On monday they have a rally in florida that officials are saying is the biggest the state has ever had. The poeple are excited. The media is always detached form reality.

Comment by Paul3triple | 2008-09-20 13:09:14

Benny, JM08 is not a troll.
You guys should stop calling poeple trolls because you dislike what they say. Is that not the same thing you all complain about obama sites? That they do not let dissenting views or ones different from theirs?

He is not a troll. SF hillary is not a troll and she is clearly an O supporter. We live in a country that was built upon the idea we could have dissenting views.

Comment by kgirl1028 | 2008-09-20 13:58:09

SF is a troll. JM08 is not. yes we believe in dialogue, but you have not seen the things she says about McCain and palin, and you would say she was unless you are one. JM08 is saying the same thing i’ve been saying the first time Mccain got the cockroach on his back. Smush him while the smashing is good. I have yet to meet a rational obama supporter, if I had I might actually vote for him. And for this very same reason, i will not vote for him. I will not abide a black Hitler ruling my country nor will i tolerate SS blog behavior. I don’t know about god but I sure believe in the devil, peoples predisposition towards hateful behavior over commonsense is one that proves he exists time and time again. people like barack obama, are ones that influence people to hack up neighbors. some of you seem to think Rowanda didn’t happen. And I think it is this dismissal of the way hate and race baiting work, is what causes society to go mad time and time again. when I see liberal women like sandra bernhart say that palin will be gang raped, to see the women of the view tear into john mccain about sarah palins vp appointment I think back to Pauline Nyiramasuhuko this woman ordered the murder and raping of women she lured people to a site claiming that they be given help and medical care. Africans are not an ignorant people they are just like so many of us, but their hatred got the best of them. so when I see a presidential candidate that inspires insane behavior, of any type, whether it’s on the Internet, who will tell his followers to get in peoples face, who inspires a professional journalist to chop up an interview to make someone look stupid and or hateful, I have a problem with it. I have problem with irrational cruelty, which is all i have seen toward Sarah Palin, and you know what i was kind of pissed will bill and hillary when the used Coretta scott Kings funeral to insult george w. bush. So imagine how i feel about when democrats say things like she’s only qualified cause she didn’t have abortion.

I don’t like the democratic party as it stands, and every day i become a little less certain that you guys won’t pick up Machetes and start hacking up the republican next door. All I know is that i want john mccain to win, and get some of yall the mental help you so desperately seem to need. america is not as evolved as you guys like to think it is. We are a violent group of people, who have alot of irrational beefs against each other. Some of them earned, there for I think it is highly important to elect officials that don’t excite the stupidity and hatred. I’m not sure if i posted this on no quarter, but if you want to know how the average black person feels about whites, take how hillary clinton supporters feel about the dnc, and multiply it by 200 years. And if there is any little nitwit who is willing to exploit that hatred to win elections then you are a very stupid individual.

Sorry every one for the long post but i’m mad, as hell at the depth and bredth of american stupidity.
it suck john mccain could loose because he’s not as mucked up person as obama.

Comment by SJ | 2008-09-20 13:09:24

All these add are great but are people really paying attention? I don’t think so if they were Obama would not be leading in the polls, all I hear them saying is Mc Cain had a bad week, Palin’s shine is wearing off BS.

People have no clue about how serious this election is or what is facing us if Obama is elected, and some don’t care they just want to put a black man as President.

With the state of the economy and this massive bail out coming, do some of them sit and think about where Obama is going to get all this money to give them this great hardship package he is promising, the problem with some Americas are that we are not to bight, we love to hear fancy words and hang on to them, but words are win anyone can promise anything the question is can it be delivered.

When I look at the poll or look at the electoral map I tell myself that as a people how can we all be so dumb, its time we stop going on emotions or guilt and face the issues Obama does not have a clue as to how to get us out of this mess, his ideas are going to make things worse, and most of all he is going to put our nation at risk security wise, I just hope people really have a long look at everything before they vote and really think over all the what if’s before they make their decision.

paul3triple-

i am just telling you what i know. there have been talks already with high ranking members in the conservative base and rush limbaugh and dennis prager.

the base is extremly nervous about mccains game plan. the base wants to go nuclear on obama, and mccain is stopping them. mccain does not want to bring up wright ayers whitey tapes or anything like that at any point in this election.

when i say that mccain said he “would rather lose this election than go dirty” i was not paraphrasing.

that is the message that has been sent out to republican state leaders, and they dont like it.

latest state poll out of colorado ..obama +10, michigan obama +9, ohio obama+2, florida tied, indiana mccain +2 ….

the election is slipping away from mccain, and dwelling on the economy is not going to help him.

People that want to WIN, want to start seeing and hearing about Ayers, Wright, Rezko, they want the whitey tapes released, they want the 527’s to be allowed to run their barak HUSSEIN obama ads …

i am telling you paul3triple …. unless mccain wakes up, you will see a palin/jindal ticket in october, thats the plan …

Comment by HC | 2008-09-20 13:21:14

Palin/Jindal? Thats the plan? Is this before or after they add Hillary to the democrat ticket?

If you believe that I have a chain letter from a concerned citizen in Alaska for ya.

If you truly want McCain to win, go campaign for him. Don’t keep coming here trying to inform us that the sky is falling.

Comment by iVet | 2008-09-20 13:41:13

Not sure where you got those poll numbers? Most of the polls are skewed in some way so the best thing to look at is composites and then they data behind the polls. If you look at Gallup polling, Obama is up by 6 today. But, if you look at the data to back up the poll, there is nothing to show why. Actually, McCain is trending up in most areas. Why would the polls then trend Obama up–look at the sampling size for each party and notice that the percentage of democrats polled is up over the last fews days and the percentage of repubs polled is down. The polls have to keep moving like this to keep generating news, keep people going to the poll websites, etc.

Do you really think that around 10% of the voters are sitting out there switching back and forth every week? If they are then we have too many idiots in our country and we deserve what we get. I would mostly ignore polling (other than the background data) and wait to see the results. Remember that everyone was convinced by the pollsters that Bush would lose twice. Remember 2004 when Kerry was so confident on election day, due to the polling?

Obama is so inept, out of touch, and radically left that if he becomes president then a revolution would be warranted. Obama is very comfortable with the radical left, anyone who does not understand this is a moron. He flops around trying to pander for votes so he can get elected, he cares nothing about the US only his own personal power.

The so called MSM is a farce, there is nothing mainstream about them. They have put their pathetic reputations on the line by deciding they would go all out to elect Obama. This MSM needs to be boycotted and all sponsers put on notice that they will be boycotted. Two can play this game, Sharpton has gotten his way by boycotting now others need to do it. I have had enough of this Axelrod creation.

We call them the Lame Stream Media. The newspapers are failing slowly… Sam Zell is in deep trouble after his purchase of the Tribune properties, and proposes selling the Cubs and WGN to make up the losses. No one wants the Tribune, the LA Slimes or the Philly Inquirer.

Remember that polls oversample the democrats. Pollsters get business and attention if they publish numbers that show a tight race and slight moves get a lot of attention. I know the Field poll in California is consistently high on the liberal side, as is the ASU poll in Arizona.

I mean to say

“McCain tricked Obama. He has allowed Obama to walk into a trap. The jaws will close after the debate.”

I did not DISRESPECT Hillary.

In fact I said I was “nuetral” on my opinion of her.

I simply just pointed out that by Hillary campaigning for Obama, it is kinda far fetched to portray her as this different kind of politician that puts the good of the country above her own political well-being.

She could have did a Joe Lieberman, or at least stayed nuetral, but instead she joined forces with Obama, because she “wanted to keep her hopes alive for 2012″ (and you guys give that reason not me)

Bottom line is that she knows better than anyone what a disaster Obama would be, yet she is willing to run the risk of getting him elected, because she wants to maintain good standing in her party.

How is that putting country first ????

But again I am not disrespecting her for it. 99.9% of politicians (lieberman being the exception) would do the same thing as hillary is doing, so it has not changed my opinion of her. I had a nuetral opinion of her before, and I still have a neutral opinion of her.

Comment by Perry Logan | 2008-09-20 13:48:28

I don’t think you read Hillary’s mind as well as you think you do. You may not be dissing her, but you are being arrogant.

For example, one could argue that Hillary sees the Obama fiasco as inevitable, her only chance to save the country by playing along. You don’t have to be Machiavelli to see that.

Comment by kgirl1028 | 2008-09-20 14:01:52

to quote head six BSG live to fight another day. thats what hillary is doing. However I dont’ think she really knows how dangerous obama is or maybe she feels she can curb him ifs she takes a leadership roll in the senate, and to do that she has to seem to be team player.

Well, there is no safe lead; there’s no lead at all, and Obama is up 6 in Gallup.

Just wondering when the Republicans will figure out that nobody ever won a boxing match without punching.

Rope a Dope won’t work here. McCain needs to take off the gloves and go at it. McCain accepted the nomination now he is the only hope to prevent Obama from destroying the nation and he needs to put in an all out effort since he has the media to fight as well. McCain does not have an easy task and needs all the support he can get.

Clinton is not in the race and neither is Bush. Everyone needs to pile on to take Obama out.

Comment by Shiloh | 2008-09-20 13:39:15

Everyone needs to get one thing straight. To be truly leading in the polls Obama would have to up by 10 points at this date. That’s the historic buffer that a democrat needs to overcome the republican surge toward the close. Obama has never been anywhere near it. I back and forth statistical tie does not cut it for Obama. That’s why they are panicked. Especially in the key states it is obvious Obama can’t close the deal. The only question is whether he loses small or loses big.

And another thing. McCain is NOT redlighting any 527s. he does not have the power to do that. He especially does not want any communication at all between his campaign and the 527s. The 527s are doing, and not doing, what they think is best. Right now they think it is better to keep their powder dry. Don’t worry, they will unload on Obama. And unlike 2004 swiftboat veterans, they won’t be armed with just personal testimony but with lots of solid documentation. Should be fun!

I hope you’re right, but Obama must lose on the merits, not on some cowardly Bradley effect where voters lie to the pollster to conceal their racism.

Even when McCain was ahead I criticized his team for having its head up its rear end with this smug, “we’ll take the high road as long as we have a safe lead” recipe for defeat.

Comment by Obama is a bum | 2008-09-20 15:11:34

Forget this Bradley effect it is a joke. So is the so called white racism which is almost non-existent but the notion is kept alive by the media and black radicals like Sharpton. The racism that does exists in this country is obviously black – 99% of blacks are voting Obama when this guy is clearly unqualified. There is a lot of white guilt in this country. I have read Republican sites where people keep listing the blacks they are begging to vote for. Many have listed Watts and Powell — the odd thing is that Powell will probably endorse Obama and I heard Watts will vote Obama as well.

The main reason people will not vote for Obama when the time comes it that he is anti-America. Folks will not vote for a candidate that does not believe in America. BO is who he is an no matter what he says nothing will change that. He will have crooks, terrorist, and racist as invited guest to the White House….our White House. The White House may have some bad presidents live in it over the years but as far as I can remember all of the previous presidents loved America and was born and raised in America. I guess when you are a “man of the world” like Obama is it is hard to have loyalty to any one country. A vote for Obama is a vote for Wright, Ayers, Rezko, and all of the other anti-Americans he calls friends.

Obama already had an attitude when he joined TUCC. An attitude that had been cultivated most of his life by his elders that raised him and introduced him to the likes of Frank Marshal Davis. Obama had an attitude and searched until he found a church that had the attitude that matched his own.

One reacon McCain/Palin get people excited is that they have a positive message. Obama is like a Puritan scold. He tries to convince people that everything is “our fault.” That kind of nonsense may work in breast-beating academia, but most people don’t care for it.

McCain and Palin get on the stage together – they are colorful and dynamic. Everybody feels engaged. Obama stands alone in his preacher suit, a drab Cotton Mather of a fellow. I think Obama’s academic brain trust (the same geniuses who built the styrofoam Acropolis) see Obama as the man of destiny, standing alone blah, blah, blah.

I see a boring guy trying to make me feel guilty for something I didn’t do.

I’d rather hang out with the McCain/Palin crowd any day. They seem to be having fun.

Comment by pasmalltowngirl | 2008-09-20 13:54:57

Ditto. I would rather have a bad President that is a true American than have an anti-American President. We are always going to have issues on the economy, energy, health care, abortion, etc. In this race we have a proven American and a man who pals around with anti-American terrorists. That should be a no- brainer for Americans who are grateful, privileged, honored and damn lucky to be citizens of this great country.

JohninCa-

It is not the “republicans” that dont want to punch.

The republican base wants to go nuclear on Obama.

It is the candidate himself, John McCain that does not want to punch. McCain has this take the high road strategy stuck in his head, and really its not even a strategy, but its is sense of honor, that causes him to think its better to lose, than to fight back and win.

As I stated in a previous post, I talk regulary to high ranking members of the republican party in ohio, and the word I get is that mccain will be replaced after the first debate if he continues to put a redlight on all the 527’s and the people in his campaign that want to fight back.

Biden can’t lose something he never had. What he is doing is disintegrating right before Catholic voters eyes. Public admonition by a Bishop is scandalous, and it will get tongues wagging. Not because Joe will be excommunicated. (He won’t.) Not because he would be denied Communion.(He probably wouldn’t.) It is scandalous because Biden is being publically chastized for failing to perform what is suppose to be a very personal and private exercise taught to us as children- the examination of conscience prior to Communion.

The latest on the Obama in Iraq episode:

A couple of years ago, I ran into that golden rule again. At a meeting with Senator Hillary Clinton in Washington, I asked what she thought of the Bush administration’s negotiations with the Iraqis concerning security cooperation. She said she would not second-guess the president and would wait for the outcome of the negotiations. In a statesmanlike manner, Senator Clinton reminded me of the golden rule—one that is common to all mature democracies where the opposition is loyal and constitutional.

Today, Senator Obama is the leader of a loyal opposition in the United States, not the chief of an insurrection or a revolutionary uprising. What we are witnessing in the U.S. is an election, not an insurrection or a coronation, even less a regime change.

Obama should not have discussed the government-to-government negotiations with the Iraqis. That he did, surprised the Iraqis no end. Raising the issue with them, especially the way he did, meant that he was telling them that he did not trust his own government. The Iraqis could not be blamed for wondering why they should trust a government that is not trusted by the leader of its own loyal opposition. (There was also no point in raising the matter, because Obama did not know the content of the negotiations.)

PUMA’s whatever anyone says, including so-called repubs, these are the facts…….

Comment by iVet | 2008-09-20 13:48:34

And a little more for good measure:

What Obama was attempting, however, was more original. It amounted to preemptive diplomacy used against one’s own government: opposing an agreement not yet negotiated and of the content of which he knew nothing. A neophyte in matters of politics and diplomacy, the young senator is certainly not wanting for originality.

Since I do not wish to become involved in an Alphonse-and-Gaston number with Obama, I suggest that we focus our attention on the fact that the nominee is left without anything resembling a policy on Iraq. So, rather than coming out with another denial of something I never said that he had done, the esteemed senator should ponder these questions:

Does he still believe that toppling Saddam Hussein was illegal and “the biggest strategic blunder in U.S. history”? If yes, we might wonder why he is prepared to deal with the new Iraqi leaders who, by definition, have usurped Hussein’s power in Baghdad with American support.

Does he still want to withdraw from Iraq or does he want to stay, doing a bit of “drawdown” and “redeployment” every now and then? And, if he wants to stay, on what basis, for what purpose, and for how long?

Is Senator Biden’s plan to carve Iraq into three separate states still a live option or has it been thrown into the dustbin where it should have been from the start?

Would Obama now support the conclusion of a Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) and a Strategic Framework Agreement (SFA) through negotiations between the Bush administration and the Iraqi administration of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, also a “lame duck,” as it faces elections early next year?

Are you all political newbies ?

FACTCHECK TIME -

Bush led Kerry in almost all the polls the final month, because he took the LOW ROAD and started hitting Kerry with all the swiftboat stuff, over and over for like a month and half straight.

If Rove had his way in 2008, you would be seeing Obama getting hit by Ayers and Wright over and over the last month, and McCain would have a huge lead in the polls.

No I am not a troll for pointing out the polls for 2004, go to gallup.com and see for yourself.

Also it is not my opinion that mccain will be replaced after the 1st debate if he does not start to fight back, it comes directly from republican party officials in ohio.

The debates won’t sway anyone. If this is like the 1960 election where Chicago vote fraud elected Kennedy or the like the violation of caucus rules in Texas and Iowa mentioned here before, Obama will be elected. Hopefully, we have reached a tipping point where a new centrist party can be created. Let those who support Hamas, Chavez, Marxists, Maoists, sexism and age bias have the Democratic party. Let the extreme conservatives have the Republican party. The rest of us who are moderates and vote split tickets could create a third party.

Much talk about the Gallup poll lately, here is a well researched post on how the poll works. There’s lot of numbers (yeah!) and it’s written by a Republican (but he doesn’t appear to be a caveman). Here’s the money quote:

“Taken altogether, there is no group of political identification where Obama’s support has increased in the past week. Mathematically, therefore, there is only one way in which Gallup could show an increase in Obama’s overall support, when none of the party identification groups showed improvement for him.”

It’s a long post, but interesting and should calm the nerves of the jittery:

also, you guys are panicing over one poll. Gallup.
McCain was up until wednesday in rasmussen and then it was tied thursday and frida and now obama is up one in rasmussen.
Gallup keep in mind was paid off by nixon in the 70’s to give him good numbers.
Also, look at the rcp average. It is 2. All of the other polls recent are statistically tied.
I would say gallup is an outlier or just manipulated.
Which is my point. The polls are just for the talking heads to talk about.
Why is it obama is not way up in rasmussen?Battleground? Or hotline? All of those polls today are very close or tied.
Gallup has been paid off before.
Polls mean nothing. The only poll that counts is the one with voting booths. Mccain is ramping up his ground game and the RNC has way more money than Obama and the DNC combined. Then you throw in McCains 85 million.
The guy running mccains campaign is a rovian understudy. The plan is in motion and will work.
This would not have been a bad week if Fiorina would not have gaffed and the press would not have misquoted mccain saying the fundamentals are strong.
McCain came out strong friday with a good message and a huge rally.
If he is drawing huge crowds you can bet those folks will work. The republican party as a whole is now looked at more positively by independants than dems and is on the rise.
Next week the economy crisis will die down.
Obama had a good week, McCain had a good 2 weeks after the convention.
His bounce lasted alot longer than anyone expected and that is good. He rode a qave of excitement for 2 weeks. Obama had gimme fall in his lap and it worked for him.

If mccain’s closest aide says they are ready to play hardball and are tired of “catching spears” you can bet they took the weekend off to devise a devious plan.
McCain may be honorable, however McCain also likes to fight and take poeple on.
The debat friday is on foreign policy. McCain should stomp obama.
Poeple on here should stop getting up when the polls are up and down when the polls are down. Some sound just like the babies on kos last week when obama was behind. Guess what? obama bounced back.
Nothing is over until November 4th.
McCain is in a vvery good position. The poll with the largest sampling has it a statistical tie.

It looks like, contrary to what folks have said, that Bush was leading Kerry at this time by about 4-6% and then in the final week it was just about tied up. If you think of the actual outcome, that is about the way it came out. Bush was showing up about 1.5% and I think that is more or less how it happened; he actually did win the popular vote in 04 but not in 00. So it was back and forth and moved to Bush by election day. Not sure if that tells us anything about this year other than perhaps that the polls were actually pretty much correct.

I don’t know if Chavez is a threat per se, at least to the USA. He may be a threat to his neighbors because he sometimes funds socialist rebel groups. But he’s certainly not worthy of face to face talks with the President of the United States and frankly we probably shouldn’t be trading with him – but there’s that foreign oil dependency and the do-nothing congress.

The Reverend Wright Issue

At the Wall Street Journal, Laura Meckler writes that the McCain campaign is getting ready to open a can of Reverend Jeremiah Wright: ‘Attack by Association’ Viewed as Fair Game by McCain Camp.

The McCain will start to slip off the gloves finally. I thought it would be a bloodbath immediately after the Convention, but I was wrong.

I guess they weren’t in a hurry since they had Sarah up their sleeve. They sure do seem damn confident in such a close race now, don’t they?

Can’t wait, the popcorn is getting stale!

Please remember there have been 3 hurricanes and the wall st. meltdown. Much of what McCain could have done during the past couple of weeks would have gone unnoticed. Also, that poll analysis at wizbangblog is worth the read.

Their campaign has a very snarky attitude of mocking THE One. It is highly effective here and much appreciated that his highness in knocked off his way too high pedestal.

I hope McCain comes out with a KOOLADE commercial with a BUS with arms and legs sticking out from under it and a obots smoking a hopium pipe while ignoring somebody yelling ob’s real history at them.

Comment by street_parade | 2008-09-20 17:16:25

I like that one too. It made me laugh and you have to appreciate any political commercial that can do that!

“Barack Obama has made some big promises over the past year, but none is more astonishing than his pledge to cut taxes, balance budgets and increase government spending.
While he is surely capable of fulfilling any of one of his fiscal pledges, Obama cannot do all three at the same time. This is probably why Obama has started breaking these promises before Election Day and will continue to break these promises should he find himself elected.”

Obama’s Social Security Whopper

September 20, 2008
He tells Social Security recipients their money would now be in the stock market under McCain’s plan. False.

Summary

In Daytona Beach, Obama said that “if my opponent had his way, the millions of Floridians who rely on it would’ve had their Social Security tied up in the stock market this week.” He referred to “elderly women” at risk of poverty, and said families would be scrambling to support “grandmothers and grandfathers.”

That’s not true. The plan proposed by President Bush and supported by McCain in 2005 would not have allowed anyone born before 1950 to invest any part of their Social Security taxes in private accounts. All current retirees would be covered by the same benefits they are now.

Obama would have been correct to say that many workers under age 58 would have had some portion of their Social Security benefits affected by the current market turmoil – if they had chosen to participate. And market drops would be a worry for those who retire in future decades. But current retirees would not have been affected.

Obama is again running false ads.You know why does Obama lie so much? Because that’s all he knows hoe to do.He lies to all the people. But when he goes around sprreading rumors of this in his ad I get mad! Why cause my mother said “You know what” What mom ? I never understood an liar.never. What you mean mom.She how dum does Obama think we are? I know mom.Well Obama isn’t for anyoine but hisself.I see through him baby. I know mom,I do to.

She was going to vote for Hillary but,She went McCain and then when Sarah came in.My mom was the happiest person. She said after watching her and hrearing her.She said that’s who we need.We need Palin and McCain.

My mom doesn’t like a liar as I don’t tell one lie to her and it’s over. She said she never saw such a liar as Obama. She to use to love watching MSNBC The today show and the view. She will not watch it anymore in what she said they did to Hillary.

Well, I can’t watch them anymore as well and I will never watch them even after the election. What the media MSNBC-CNN-ABC- MSN DID NOT ONLY TO Hillary but to all americans who relay on the truth from our media. And they just did not do their job for the people I will never forget or forgive the DNC in what they as well did to Hillary and the people.I will never again be a democratic cause of this year election in what they did. When 2012 comes around well if all the wrong are out of the senate and our government.I went independent because of the nasty democratics.

The first HALF of these comments were all from Obot’s rude, “in-your-face” people. Scroll up to the top & look for yourselves. Honestly, I’m sick to death of reading all of these personal attacks by these useless, childish morons. GO AWAY & F*** YOURSELVES, ASSBITES!

They can’t defend their useless blowhard candidate so they go on the offensive & attack those that DON’T AGREE with their useless, blowhard candidate. Very mature, don’t you think? What a waste of space & air these morons are.

Remember that it’s just the ACORN morons doing as they’ve been taught by their “leader”, Mr. Obot: Getting “in the faces” of those who do not agree with or like their con-artist, fraudulent savior.

Let’s see, now…..it’s less than two weeks until Obot-to-Trot FEELS THE PAIN from the so-called “swiftboat” heavy-hitters. Oh, oh, OH! And there’s just a treasure-full of negative information on this guy, too!

And, Obot, himself, is fully responsible for ALL of that information! Imagine!

Obot will react with his usual whining…Waaaaah, Waaaah, Waaaah….and his tired “It’s-the-same-old-Washington- politics!” line! And,along with this, Obot will retaliate by invoking the ACORN extremist tactics of oppression & try to silence everyone through “abuse of process” (i.e., “filing frivolous lawsuits”).

The only problem with this, Obot-to-Trot, is that not only did the DOJ slam your ass by refusing to prop you up – but these ads will be TRUE! Yes, TRUE! Oh, GOSH! Oh, GOLLY-GEE!

So, Obot, in your assignment this evening you are tasked to ponder the following: Is a “Swiftboat” AD REALLY a “Swiftboat” AD if the stated allegations against you have previously been proved through direct evidence & are therefore FACTUAL?

(P.S. Listen Up,Obot: I encourage you to think very hard about your answer even though I realize this philosophical question just might be a bit “deep” for someone like you! “Deep thinking” is good practice for someone such as yourself who suffers panic attacks without his Tele-Promp-Ter. Who knows – maybe someday someone will even invent a customized-for-Obot Tele-Promp-Ter that will tell you what you should “think”! Gee Whiz,Obot, after all these MONTHS & MONTHS of excessive Tele-Promp-Ting – your brain must feel like its full of mud! Talk about desensitized & dumbed-down!)

Oh, Yeah!

Swiftboats On The Mark….Ready……Set……………………..

……..And it couldn’t happen to a more deserving person.

Let’s just see if you bob & weave your way out of this stuff…….
