Voting for the Republican side of the Democratic Party

Apparently, our dear Hillary has created a grassroots movement to help back Obama. Sorry Hillary, no can do. (I refuse to include a link; as I see it, Hillary is acting under duress).

I REALLY wanted to vote for the Democratic platform. Or at least the one that Hillary presented. (Susan UnPC wrote about the DNC platform in August). Hillary’s platform protects our country, provides healthcare, protects our natural resources, pays everyone a living wage, grants respect and civil rights to everyone, respects and supports the blue collar working Americans, takes care of the members and families of those serving in the armed forces and the vets who have served; those are my values.

As I consider this, I realize that the platform is only a secondary part of my vote. In order to vote for the platform, I must believe two things: first and foremost, that our national security will strengthen and our country will remain safe and protected; and secondly, that the people presenting the platform can and will deliver.

In both these areas, I have no faith in Barack Obama or the party that manufactured him. Zilch. Nada. Nil. Everything I’ve learned about him over the past year, and continue to learn through his words and actions, makes it clear that he can never meet my two requirements. He has no foreign policy experience, and do you recall his response to the Georgian crisis? From the August 13th Washington Post:

“Russian peacekeeping troops should be replaced by a genuine international peacekeeping force, Georgia should refrain from using force in South Ossetia and Abkhazia, and a political settlement must be reached that addresses the status of these disputed regions,” Obama said during a break from his vacation in Hawaii on Monday.

(This is very important people, very telling. Obama is waaayyy out of his depth. Larry wrote about Obama’s Impending Pearl Harbor)

Soldier4Hill makes it abundantly clear why she won’t be voting for Obama. Watch her again:

As Patsy says in her video statement, Obama is a creation, albeit a very flawed one, of the so-called Democratic Party. And that’s the rub: the Democratic Party showed signs of a terminal illness throughout the primaries, and it died the day of the Rules and By-laws Committee decision to give Hillary’s votes to their selected candidate. One of my favorite bloggers, garychapelhill, attended the meeting and writes this (read his entire post):

On May 31, 2008, I witnessed what could turn out to be the beginning of the end of democracy in our country. Obama’s henchmen on the Rules and By-Laws Committee of the DNC stole votes and delegates that had been awarded to Clinton by the voters of Michigan and gave them to Barack Obama. Of course, there’s hardly a footnote of this from any of the MSM coverage of that event. But I saw it firsthand, and it is the main reason that I will never support Barack Obama, and why his cronies like Brazile, Wexler, Dean, Germond, Fowler, et al. need to be run out of our party for high crimes against democracy itself.

All of their accusations of racism, their blatant sexism and misogyny, the discrimination against the working class, the flip flopping (many posts document Obama’s two-faced backtracking flip flops and Susan posted an excellent video piece), makes it painfully obvious that there is no real platform. As Michael Gerson writes in the September 17 edition of the WaPo:

Even worse for Obama, all these shifts to catch the prevailing winds confirm the most serious concerns about his political character. As a senator, he has almost never opposed the ideological consensus of his party. (The ethics reform he often cites as his profile in courage eventually passed the Senate 96 to 2.) And now as a presidential candidate, Obama has run his campaign with all the constancy of a skittish sailboat on an erratic ocean.

What do the Democrats have? As of now they have racked up a list of unforgivable offenses. The so-called roll call on the convention floor (yeah, we’re that stupid); the aiding-and-abetting of the virtual gang rape of Ferarro, Hillary, Palin and the rest of us; the frigging celebrity money-pump into Obama’s campaign when the economy is collapsing and many of us can barely afford gas to get to work. Now Charlie Rangle has called Palin “disabled.” And it goes on and on and on.

The LATimes’ Doyle McManus makes an interesting observation about the distinctions between McCain and Whosit:

McCain… has frequently rebelled against established orthodoxy, especially in his own party. Obama…is more cautious — and more likely to stick with his party’s usual position.

And now that I’m clear on what Obama’s party’s “usual” positions are, I won’t be voting for it. And that party’s hope and change creation has been exposed as his manufacturers’ defective creation. Gerson concludes by pointing out that there is no there there:

Obama could attempt to “beat back the politics of fear, and doubt, and cynicism.” He could try to build a coalition that “stretches through red states and blue states.” He could reject “the politics where we tear each other down instead of lifting this country up.”

The candidate who said those words the night he won the Iowa caucuses did pretty well. But whatever the outcome of this presidential election, that candidate is no longer in the race.

I am not going to vote for Obama, period.

He is not getting my vote either.

I am a Republican. I have been reading through this blog all day. I just want to say how proud I am of my fellow Americans with a D beside their names. Like many of you, 4 years ago I hated you as much as you hated me. I looked forward to this election season because I knew the Democrats were at war, with Dean/Kennedy on one side and the Clintons on the other. However, I never thought that the Dean machine would foist b. hussein obama to the fore. As I researched this man, I realized what an enemy to all things America he is. As I watched the primaries, I saw b. hussein systematically do what I thought could never be done to the Clintons. I watched him steal Hillary’s platform, caucuses, and base while Hillary was knocked off balance. I watched the transformation of what I had perceived Hillary to be, to what I think Hillary has been all her life, but was unable to really show it. She is a person who passionately believes in her position, and has EARNED the respect of the Democrat party. I watched her come into her own, too little, too late against a thug who hates America. In short, I saw what you saw.
And now, I see your grief, courage and love of America. I do not revel in your sorrow; I applaud your determination in the face of great pain, to preserve our country. I see that you love America as much as I do.
And, frankly, I don’t know that I would have had the courage to do what you have done. Should I ever need to, I believe that you would welcome me as I hope that we welcome you.
Now, let’s take back our country. God bless you and God bless America.

Conservative/Libertarian here: Not sure I can totally ditto the observations above on Hillary, but I can see a lot of Democrats here that love America. It’s completely refreshing to come here, as opposed to the media-approved Democrat talking heads that have told us “our boys and girls in Iraq are all just torturers and murderers, our country is sick and evil, we just have to give up trying to out-do ourselves because the Earth just can’t take it anymore (BANANA: Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anything), the worst of the terrorists are just ‘freedom fighters’, we’ve already lost, can’t possibly win, so we might as well give up, the freedoms, personal and economic, that we enjoyed while building this great nation are now passe,” and so on, ad infinitum.

I want someone to optimistically LEAD us forward, NOT tell us our expectations must diminish, you can’t do that anymore, the future has dimmed, the only choice is to ‘conserve’ what we have because we ain’t gettin’ any more, and don’t try to make life better for yourself or you just might climb too high, and then you won’t be one of US anymore.

Some people are never going to be able to see what I see in Hillary. That’s ok with me. If people can just get to the point where they see her objectively, I would be happy.

I do appreciate the posts.

hey a republican… you know how crazy everything is right now? it’s like this… I LOVE YOU, MAN!! meaning: your “name” would’ve pissed me off just because. that’s how weird everything is now. you hit the nail on the head, though. i thank the goddesses everyday for sending us mccain and palin - otherwise i’d be drunk everyday with grief over what happened to hillary. ok, mebbe not drunk, but you get the idea. obama is a danger… a DANGER to this country. if he wins, our republic/democracy experiment is over.

Comment by Mary | 2008-09-21 04:02:41

Thank you for sharing your insights and for giving your respect to all who care about the survival of America, no matter what political party we have favored in the past. We were Democrats. We now refuse to support the Obmacratic Party.

Obama means to destroy America. He admitted on TV that he is a Muslim (”my Muslim faith,” he said), he is the darling of the Arab world, he would appease that Muslim trash ruling Iran, he has a female Muslim liaison whose job is to convince American women not to criticize Muslim oppression of women (preparing us for the future he has planned), and he would use the office of POTUS to ease the spread of Islamic jihad and Islamofascism throughou the world.

Further, Obama has been a communist since adolesence. He is still a Communist and will impoverish Americans. You are so right when you point out that B. Hussein means very, very ill by America.

Thank you, A Republican. I am also a Republican who has been reading No Quarter since March when I had researched Obama enough to know his background in Chicago Politics and his ties with ACORN.

I wish that previously I had had the courage to put into words what you have. Bravo!

Though issue-wise, I have some disagreements with Hillary, by Pennsylvania I was praying for her to win every future primary just so I would know that the two candidates in the General Election were servants of the people who truly love the United States of America.

Again, thank you for putting a voice to my thoughts and feelings about the true patriots here at No Quarter.

Comment by Sue | 2008-09-21 09:40:40

I agree 100%!!

While I disagree with Hillary on several issues, I have always respected her and cheered her on.

I wasn’t afraid because of I knew that if it was a race between Hillary and McCain we would all be winners either way because they both love this country.

It makes me extremely sad that the best person didn’t win in the Democratic primary. It will be a bigger shame, and we’ll all be in trouble if Obama wins the presidency.

I too am proud of the Democrats here who have put their country first. Thank you ALL!

Medusa is not right here! Trying to prioritize social vs security concerns is a fictitious way of saying “I will vote Republican as always!”

come on, now! Let’s not kid ourselves. Do you really think HIllary is ONLY interested in domestic progressive issues? Of course, she was interested in a strong country. But the Republicans are blinded to ALL ISSUES OTHER THAN SECURITY! To their detriment! This insular thinking makes you scared. And that’s why the international perception of this country has gone down the dumps and no one takes us seriously!

BUSH WAGED A PHONY WAR and as a reuslt 4 million refugees in Iraq, most of them women left unprotected and some former teachers, nurses, now in neighboring arab countries WORKING AS PROSTITUTES!
Enough money spent on War! Isn’t it a SHAME that the major cause for Bankruptcies in American is…MEDICAL BILLS?! shame! Indeed!

Obambi doesn’t have the answer! And neither does McCain with his repugnant party policies.

the only one who had the SOLUTIONS and BALANCED PERSPECTIVE WAS HILLARY. NOT OBAMARAMA AND NOT MCCAIN!

ah…medussa….those snake heads you’re engulfed in….break free and think for yourself!

Is it possible that the rumors are true…that Biden will be forced to leave so Hillary can join the ticket?

Comment by hilldemgoneindie | 2008-09-20 21:51:31

i didn’t want to go there, no way, now how, nobama, but you forced my hand. ok. here goes…

if hillary replaces biden, i will not vote for her.

if hillary replaces biden and then obama… i will not vote for her.

here’s why.

by suspending her campaign, by asking that obama be nominated by affirmation, hillary gave our/my vote(s) away. those weren’t HER delegates or HER votes to give away, they were OURS. look, i freaking LOVE hillary. but…

she backed down to the likes of obama, dean, pelosi, brazile who are not remotely as scary as ahmabillybob and peeeuuuutin. she put party before country and threw our votes away - for the sake of her own political career.

i know, i know, she was protecting her political future. she did what she had to do. she’s playing the game. she’s looking at the long game… she’s a clinton - they know how to win elections. really?

all that’s fine, but y’know what? mccain and palin, while i do not agree with everything they stand for, they have gone against their parties for the sake of the people they represent. for the sake of the people.

i would have thrown myself in front of a speeding bus for hillary - until she backed down AND endorsed obama. to me, and that’s the only person i can speak for, THAT was a deal-breaker.

so… if she chooses to run in 2012, it better be after kicking the shit out of the losing democratic party with no holds barred. otherwise, i’ll vote for palin in 2012.

i love hillary. i do. but y’know what? i love my country waaaaay more and sometimes, esp when you’re rich and can do whatever you want in life without ever having to worry about how to pay your bills ever again?… sometimes you gotta stand up and say NO WAY. NO HOW. NO OBAMA!! and call the party out.

had hillary done that, obama would NOT be the nominee and she would have garnered untold support across the country. or, he’d be 30 pts behind. now? she looks like a big sellout and it’s breaking my heart.

there. i finally said “it” that’s been on my mind for weeks. and i am not a troll.

so go ahead obama, put her on the ticket - it’ll only make you both look, well… kinda stupid. and hillary? you’ll put the finally stamp of death on your career coz you two will not win.

Sorry, Hillary, but your smarts, dignity, character, backbone, and heartfelt commitment to Democratic ideals are not transferable to Obama.

You can’t give him what he doesn’t have. All you can do is hand him the policies, but you can’t make him what he’s not.

If George Bush stood up tomorrow and started spouting “Democratic” ideas, and endorsed the entire platform, should I then vote for him? I think not.

History matters. Character matters. Record matters. Deeds matter.

I always say people don’t do anything that they don’t want to do so am not buying all this Hillary is under duress crap.

If Hillary is this weak then its a good thing she is not in the race, because if you are a fighter that is what you are and you go down fighting no matter what, you hold on to your principles and stand by them.

Hillary for months said Obama is not ready so how the hell can he be now? For her to be going along with his crap she is no different than Biden who also said he stood by his word that Obama was not ready.

Whatever they are trying now I hope it fails, the said thing as I watch all this is if Obama happens to win this election gets in there and makes a total mess of everything, what then will Hillary come and say does she not feel that people will look at her for answers.

Obama is going to be the hammer that kills Hillary political life and chances just wait and see.

Comment by Kara | 2008-09-20 18:40:16

There is such as a thing as living to fight another day. Yeah, she could stay home and not campaign. She could stand up and say “he’s not ready.” But it would only make it impossible for her to get anything done in the Senate or to every run again. I get what she’s up against.

Comment by Arabella Trefoil | 2008-09-20 18:42:18

Comment by SJ | 2008-09-20 18:47:56

So its better to play along and encourage a voter to support a man that is incapable of running this country, a man that we still don’t know much about, a man with strange associates.

So for the sake of sitting in the senate and holding on to political power get people to vote for this man and possibly make him president so you can live to fight another day?

I guess that it is easier to say party before country in this case, if Obama wins she has lost nothing she is still in politics, if he does not win she can run again so exactly what will Hillary be losing if she takes a stand, sorry I don’t buy this Hillary is doing what is needed, she maybe doing what is good for her but it sure may not be good for the country and the country should come first.

Comment by Kal | 2008-09-20 18:56:23

In this situation, what is good for Hillary also happens to be good for the country, because the US needs Hillary. If not now, then asap. And my own calculated assessment is that McC will do less harm than BO while we are waiting for the DNC and BO to get moved out of the way — by a resounding defeat on Nov. 4.

Comment by bemused | 2008-09-20 19:21:19

Don’t underestimate her influence in the Senate. It could be very great, especially as she knows how to get along with McCain. And as to her campaigning for Obama, it isn’t doing any good for him and I expect she knows it. Bill has certainly given us some clues, but how on earth could Hillary come out and say Bzero is still a putz, so vote for the opposition which is the only other choice?

Comment by Snickers | 2008-09-20 20:14:15

Well, I understand your anger about Hillary supporting Barry, but if she doesn’t toe the line she wouldn’t get anything done in the Senate for her constituents. All of her clout to address issues important to all of us would be derailed by the old boy’s club in the Senate. You know boys like Ted, Kerry, Leahy, Reid, Dodd, Biden. Them. Those really stand-up guys who hate the Clintons.

Comment by mimi | 2008-09-20 21:52:05

People who don’t live in NY don’t care about Hillary’s constituents. As far as they’re concerned we can just all go to hell. All they care about is that Hillary isn’t fulfilling their Hollywood movie heroine ideal, where she defeats the evil political villain and we all live happily-ever-after.

Sorry, but life simply doesn’t roll that way.

She has to live to fight another day.

Until then, we’re on our own to defeat this ratprick.

Stop bitching about Hillary and do your part in our fight.

Comment by trixta | 2008-09-21 00:04:47

HRC must keep herself visible not only on the “campaign trail”, but especially on the Senate floor and in OP ED pieces, as she’s done lately. One can’t help but contrast Obama and HRC when she ushers policy statements or gives speeches on the Senate floor.

When Obama loses, the Ozombies will blame HRC in any case, but at least she has a paper trail to defend herself against these charges, which will surely come after the GE.

BTW, according to Fox reporters Bill Clinton said some very favorable things about Palin (that she has great political intuition, etc.) but kept mum with regard to Obama.

I’m grateful for what Hillary withstood and the valiant effort she made. But it is just wrong to promote Obama-PERIOD. The Democratic party that she and Bill represented was seized by Obama and his merry punk thugs. So doing it for the Democratic party is pointless now. With all of the corrupt shit coming out on Obama…I’m sorry, I can’t give her a pass on this.

Comment by Kal | 2008-09-20 18:57:57

The dems will only survive if there are enough good downticket dems left to help pick up the pieces. That is what Hillary and Bill are really pouring their energies, passion, and brains into. Take a closer look before you start Hillary bashing on this!

Comment by McKatmoon | 2008-09-20 19:20:57

That isn’t Hillary Bashing, so steady. I still support Hillary, I do not approve of party before country, and yet there is that catch-22, if she chooses to run again, or continue on as Senator.
SO damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t; a lower profile in this case, would be wisest,as all the other contenders for the democratic ticket are taking..let those guys come out and stump for O.
I understand the loyalty to a certain point, but I also would say, O will use that to a degree and also make sure he kills any political future she has, if he can. It’s as if they are still competing for the nomination, he has never stopped trying to look better than her, or be better than her, because he knows he isn’t. At some point Senator Clinton, will need to leave him to his own devices and support what is left of the party the best way she can, as she does as an acting senator on the senate floor; otherwise, she walks a tightrope, and if she goes deep in supporting O policy, that you know, and have heard her come out against, it makes it difficult to continue to support her in the future, I hope that doesn’t happen. We know the rules are rigged, and she is stuck with them, I give her the credit to be smart, and not get fuc*ed over by the Democrats again, but I do not envy what it takes to do this.

WHAT IF HE DOES WIN?

Comment by PJ | 2008-09-20 19:52:58

Have you ever played chess? You can’t just look at one move in isolation. Hillary is thinking several moves ahead. Give her a chance.

She’s counting on us being smarter than that.

Comment by McKatmoon | 2008-09-20 20:12:55

Agree PJ, and the O and his bots know it makes us sick, and further, they enjoy it. Anyone who derives the pleasure that filth did, in stabbing her supporters in the heart by proclamation of racism by association, will not win, and will always go to any means necessary to get that carrot. Senator Clinton, isn’t new at this, and it is a dance, and a difficult one. Too many that want instant gratification of political knowledge,it isn’t going to be that forthcoming; as if anyone could actually know just how deep and rampant the virus of O runs. Senator Clinton hasn’t done anything I didn’t think she would have to do, and I also know there is an unsaid understanding somehow she knows, we will do what we have to as she encouraged us to vote our hearts.Anything she says after that point, I know is not something, I will agree to. It isn’t her lead, it isn’t her script. She has to stay politically alive, and I won’t cut her off and start looking for Kool-aide stains around her mouth, I will just turn down the volume, and will never forget when I vote on Nov 4th, what that SOB and his campaign did to her. Never.

Hillary is a DEM, she knows the Primary season was fixed but she can’t change that. She has to play the role of a good DEM, they were already blaming Hillary for Obama losing at My DD.com. She will do what she can and when Obama does lose she won’t be the scapegoat.

Hillary first and foremost wants to save the Democratic party. She can’t do that if she is perceived the one to bring it down. Hillary is confident that her good buddy John Mac will win and therefore she can play this hide and seek game the DNC and Obama have her dancing to.

Once Obiwan loses big, she can dictate who’s in and who’s out of the very party she kept together. Plastic Jesus will be a thing of the past and a great thesis and docu-drama regarding toxic kool-aid, and cognitive dissonance a.k.a pseudo-white-guilt.

Unfortunately, I agree with you SJ. The rest of us have to take responsibility for our ethical choices and this will haunt her career forever. It’s most unfortunate for America; we needed her. It wasn’t just her nomination that was stolen; our American right to have a lawful election was stolen too. There is no way to put a spin on this.

Hillary’s supporters are always screaming about her 18 million voters. We fail to acknowledge that 0bama almost got as many.

So when you say, Hillary should do something, you’re asking her to buck the tide against all the people who supported and still support him too.

And look how much trouble we’re having. Especially with the msm against us.

We have to work with the other side now to bring 0bama down. It’s our job because we have the numbers, we’re not elected officials and we don’t owe the Democratic Party shit.

Spending time ragging Hillary only helps 0bama.

Is that what you people want?

Comment by Ferd McBerfle | 2008-09-20 22:09:37

Do you really believe he got nearly as many votes as Hillary? I mean actual cast votes from actual real people who weren’t serial voting? No No NO–He got 1/3 of that if at all and Hill got way more than 18 million as her honest votes were thrown in the trash in every state and Territory. That’s why his ‘vote count total’ isn’t mentioned much-because it’s not a real vote count.

I am voting Mccain and straight republican ticket.
I think the dems should be punished for the primary as well as the horrendous job they did in congress, house, and senate.
Everyone blames it on bush. Of course he is part of it. However, democrats have had a majority in the other branches and did nothing.
I think they let the country slide and gas prices rocket up for the election.
In 2006 gas was under 3 dollars and unemployment was an all time low.
What a difference 2 years make.

A pilot flew a lone message of dissent against Barack Obama’s tax plans as a sea of people turned out here to support the Democratic presidential hopeful at an open-air rally Saturday.

The pilot’s small plane trailed a banner reading: “RAISING TAXES IS NOT PATRIOTIC.” That referred to a call Thursday from Obama’s running mate Joseph Biden for richer Americans to pay more in taxes for the national good.

The sign was the only discordant note as the huge crowd gave a rapturous welcome to Obama in a park in Jacksonville, northeastern Florida.

barack obama is a fraud and a borderline sociopath. he is exposed for what he is, and more folks than ever will not support him

this is now apparent beyond doubt.

there is no way, even for Hillary, that will change.

there is something weird going down, and Hillary’s back is against the wall.

the bastards from chicago will stop at nothing. obama will stop at nothing.

John McCain and Sarah Palin can not be bought, threatened, or intimidated.

should they win by some mishap of obama’s vote mongers/ballot counters, they’d best get the food tasters on board. they will need them.

reform does not go down well with the kinds of people that obama works for.

just saying.

Gun to her head or not, I am kind of getting tired of her doing these things. I know she loves the democratic party but she has to know that party F**ked 1/2 of it’s constituent base.

Sorry Hillary, I have placed my order for my early ballot and will be voting McCain/Palin as soon as it comes in and get it right back in the mail.

Comment by Jackarooty | 2008-09-20 18:54:03

She has only 45 more days to endure this charade.

Again she is investing in her future political capital. It will pay off. It narrows the window of opportunity for the Obamabots to blame her for his loss.

Does anyone remember when Bill (Judas) Richardson called her to tell her that he was endorsing Obama and she was quoted as saying, “HE CANNOT WIN BILL. HE CANNOT WIN”.

GET IT?

Comment by PhxNickD | 2008-09-20 19:28:54

Bill Clinton said the same thing right after Hillary succeeded, now he is saying that he always said Obama could win. Try as I might, politics or not, does anyone in the democratic party have a backbone to stand up and say the honest thing anymore?

Comment by beverly leslie | 2008-09-20 21:19:21

To Jay:

I have heard so many people say that Hillary engaged them in politics this year. People who never really got too involved before. They would make up their mind at the last minute for whom they would vote. But this year was different. Hillary’s fire and enthusiasm struck a nerve in people who were only bystanders before but this year became participants. People who said “where has she been hiding? Wow! this is some smart lady”.Voicing my sentiments exactly. The more she campaigned the more people began to respect and love her. Her true grit and obvious love for America and its people came across in every speech she gave.

When the DNC stole her votes and stacked the deck against her is when I decided that (to use Obama’s phraseology) this is not the Democratic Party that I knew. I don’t want to be associated with that bunch of scoundrels in any way. So———–

Hillary, as much as I love and respect you, count me out. There is no way in hades that I would vote for Barack Obama. NO WAY, NO HOW NEVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comment by Hillary the President | 2008-09-20 19:10:32

There is no place where Hillary can go politically.
I hoped she would run as an independent candidate, then, there is no political structure where she’d be supported at this point of time as an independent candidate. You might want to judge her now, but I’d like to wait for a little longer to judge her, maybe three or four years later from today.

Comment by AnneinPA | 2008-09-20 19:18:10

She’s just campaigning to keep in practice for 2012.

Comment by knotfourhymn | 2008-09-20 19:50:16

Perhaps as others say here on NQ Senator Clinton has a very, very narrow plank to walk. Currently Senator Obama, Dean, Brazile, et al are in control and expecting her to campaign for the DNC nominee as a good Democrat, and so she must show some commitment to the Obama campaign or be accused of losing his election (which is laughable) and damage her chances for 2012.

However, she and President Clinton can read the political tea leaves perhaps better than anyone else, so as Jackarooty posted above she only has to walk this plank for less than seven weeks longer.

I agree, seeing and hearing Senator Clinton campaign for the nominee is beyond annoying, since everything she said about Senator Obama before June 06 was just as valid after June 06.

Someone on another post wants Senator Clinton to give a tell-all interview or book after all of this is over to explain why she has been supporting Obama for over three months, perhaps to explain how she was put in an almost impossible position by her political enemies at the DNC. Hillary herself will never do that, except maybe under oath at a trial; for her to ever admit that she played along, however tepidly and grudgingly, for Obama when she personally knew better and knew the risks for this country if he had gotten elected will permanently get her painted as a calculating, me-at-all-costs hypocrite.

(However, someone close enough to know the story could write that tell-all book. Senator Clinton could officially denounce the book, but for those who had always wondered and suspected, it would answer the question “how can she”?

Soldier, sweety. I hope you don’t mind me going OT on you here. But I just can’t contain myself.

I am going to repeat myslef.

The way to start a run on a bank is to start a rumor that a run is starting.

Obama started the sell-off, that happened Monday, just to get votes. - So he could blame the crash on the GOP.

Problem for them is the institutional investors, with the proper data, did not buy into it and actually started on Thursday buying all the undervalued stock.

If Cramer flat out says financial terrorism is involved, then I believe him.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zj0Vwnt1CLs

I heard it on Monday. The Obama people were screaming chicken little and telling everyone to run on their brokers and banks, trying to create a crash to blame on the GOP leadership.

I think the Obama team tried to take down our economy just to get votes.

Even Paulson has no idea why people were selling stuff they were making money off of.

Comment by lark | 2008-09-20 19:59:28

That is correct. Not only did he do that, but he tried to undermine the rescue package brought out by the President Friday morning by coming out 1/2 hr. after the President. These people are willing to inflict any damage in order to get votes. The polls have changed in his favor and in part because he is bamboozling people into believing he knows what he is talking about. His accomplishments are a string of destruction for those who choose to support him. And now he wants to add to his accomplishment destroying the economy.

Comment by Chicago | 2008-09-21 01:24:24

I would not be surprise if George Soros and his minions are behind this financial crisis in order to assist Obama. Soros always implements his “Chaos Theory” in order to gain control of a country’s economy and gain a big influnce in it. click on the link below and learn more about George Soros:

http://www.questionsquestions.net/docs04/engdahl-soros.html

Then, in early June 1993, Soros proclaimed his intent to force a sell-off in German government bonds in favor of the French, in an open letter to London Times Financial Editor Anatole Kaletsky, in which Soros proclaimed, “Down with the D-Mark!” Soros has at various times attacked the currencies of Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Mexico, coming into newly opened financial markets which have little experience with foreign investors, let alone ones with large funds like Soros. Soros begins buying stocks or bonds in the local market, leading others to naively suppose that he knows something they do not. As with gold, when the smaller investors begin to follow Soros, driving prices of stocks or whatever higher, Soros begins to sell to the eager new buyers, cashing in his 40% or 100% profits, then exiting the market, and often, the entire country, to seek another target for his speculation. This technique gave rise to the term “hit and run.” What Soros always leaves behind, is a collapsed local market and financial ruin of national investors.

What a disgace the DNC is. I got a letter with a bumper sticker in the mail today asking for money. Before this year I would have gladly sent in a few bucks, but now I just throw it away. What a corrupt bunch. Can you imagine the Chicago machine people Obambi would install at HUD if he somehow won? His campaign’s underlying premise seems to be ‘If you think Bush/Cheney’s bunch was corrupt, wait until you see us!’

Tore it all up and sent them the shreds AND threw a a postcard picture of a PUMA I got from Sierra Club in.

If they wrote me after my phone rants, mail rants and email rants then they are going all out.

My union (AFSCME) is also pushing it with automatic phone calls and they have my vote for McCain logged.

And the TV ads here in PA are ridiculous, I’m so sick of the ones I’ve seen when passing by other people’s TV sets at work. At home I don’t even watch TV. If ob thinks 7 more weeks of blanket ads is going to help in PA he is wrong. The market saturation reached annoying long ago.

Hillary knows damned well those of us who supported her but have said we will not vote for him already have our minds made up, no matter what she says.

She is under duress and doing what she has to do to live to fight another day.

Remember Massachusetts — Obama outspent Hillary in the primary, had the sweetheart press kissing his behind daily and the huge endorsements of Gov. Patrick and Senators Kennedy and Kerry and he STILL lost the state to Hillary — she beat him resoundingly by 15 pts.

The people of MA already saw Obama 1.0 in Patrick (the first Axelrod brain child) and they don’t like him — same hopey-changey crap. So they didn’t vote for Obama.

No one’s endorsement is going to matter. Not even hers. I know what I know and I will not vote for him.

Rise, Hillary, Rise.

You guys dont get it do you …

The democratic party has set up their nomination process in such a way that only a black can win.

If hillary runs again in 2012 they will just find another random black guy to go against her and win.

The way the schedule is set up with the states voting, and the way the uraban districts are given extra delegates, it simply would be impossible for a white person to get the nomination.

Change the party rules. States set their own rules.

Comment by Kal | 2008-09-20 19:41:12

These things can be made more democratic by a party that is itself democratic.

That is one of the most important reasons for doing everything possible to defeat BO — clean house, clean up the rules, use democratic processes to identify the next nominee.

Which will be Hillary!!

PUMA!!!

I still believe the Philip Berg v. Obama lawsuit in PHiladelphia could be the end of Obama. They (Obama Campaign) need to produce the birth certificate and other documentation by Sept. 24 — no documentation, NObama.

(Problem for Repubs. is that they don’t want him declared ineligible too soon for fear that Hillary would replace him and win.)

Comment by Kelvin Hearts PUMAs | 2008-09-20 20:30:51

You guys still believe that this bogus lawsuit will take down Obama? Larry Johnson has truly turned you PUMAs minds to mush.

Spread the word about this tactic so it backfires on them:

“Once considered politically out of bounds, the word “lie” — stated bluntly and unapologetically — has had its unveiling in the 2008 campaign. Rarely does a day go by when aides to the Democratic nominee, Barack Obama, do not accuse the Republican ticket — John McCain, Sarah Palin, or both — of lies and lying. And in a bit of psychological warfare, the Obama camp also usually charges that the lies tarnish the honor of Mr. McCain — a virtue Mr. McCain, as a war hero, particularly cherishes — in the hope of triggering his temper, Obama aides say.”

Comment by leisa | 2008-09-20 22:51:07

Well, that smear about liar worked on Clinton, let’s bring it out for McCain…

Remember this trash from Aug 07?

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/17/us/politics/17obama.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

“Our view is that if you can’t run your own house, you certainly can’t run the White House,” Mrs. Obama said.

Later, she added: “This election is about truth and authenticity. There is nothing more important than your word. Truth does matter.”

When he took the microphone, Mr. Obama used similar phrasing, saying, “Part of the change, by the way, is telling the truth to the American people about the very serious and difficult challenges and choices that we face.”

Well, Obama, when are you going to change and start telling the truth?

I also remember people at this stump speeches yelling “she lies” when he would try to cut her a new one… and how the media and Obama really took advantage of the republican talking points about her credibility. Ugh, it really was awful.

Every day, it was Hillary is a liar was printed in the paper. Leonard Pitts… I used to like him, that was before Obama came to town.

Comment by JM08 | 2008-09-20 19:29:51

I guarantee you that will be what happens.

2012 will be a exact replay as 2008 on the democratic side.

Hillary will run again. Pelosi/Dean/brazille will find another token black guy. I am guessing Harold Ford Jr.

Hillary will once again get shitted on by the dnc.

Harold Ford Jr will win all the caucases and all the states with high black populations.

Everybody will scream how they are done with the dnc, but hillary will go out and campaign for harold ford jr, and 90 percent of the pumas will go back home.

Comment by JM08 | 2008-09-20 19:32:38

The only people that can change the dnc rules are dean and pelosi and they were the ones that corrupted the rules in the first place. nothing is going to change.

The inner cities and caucases will continue to have a huge influence.

Its just simple. ANY black man can get the nomination.

Comment by Dr. Kate | 2008-09-20 20:03:21

nope, not buying.

Dean, Pelosi, Reid, Brazille will be gone by 2012. The party will be rebuilding and probably barely hanging on to majorities in both houses.

Comment by HC | 2008-09-20 20:10:10

Unless Obama wins, and we all vote down ticket dems, giving him a mandate.

In this scenario the bad guys win, and they all keep their jobs.

This is why it may not be good enough to sit this one out, or select a third party candidate.

Just a thought.

Comment by lark | 2008-09-20 20:19:31

I disagree in that I think the only way to rebuild and fix the Dem Party was that Hillary goes PUMA. She chose not to. So after this episode, and chances are Oblahblah will win, the Dem will rot in corruption. My theory is that unless Hillary goes PUMA, the Dem Party is not repairable. Hillary chose wrong.

Comment by PJ | 2008-09-20 20:39:23

I disagree lark. Give Hillary some credit on how to navigate this ugly mine field.

Comment by d2d | 2008-09-20 20:43:57

Hillary may be PUMA at heart but she ain’t stupid!!! Good grief, how could you expect a leader within the Democratic Party to switch to the new PUMA party when there is NO structure, NO history, NO staying power…yet.

She has to stay within the folds of the Party. Without it she’d get no where and be no where.

Hill is doing what she needs to do to survive with her integrity in tact. Do I agree with her pushing Barry on me? hell no!

But I do understand why she’s doing it. And quite frankly I’d be disappointed in her if she didn’t. Why? To win the Majority Leadership she has to play Party D. She needs the new D Senator’s and the entrenched Senatorial D’s votes. She’s building her base of support within the Senate. Do I like it? Hell no! But I get it.

That simple. At least for me.

Comment by PJ | 2008-09-20 21:27:53

I realize that Hillary has a metaphorical gun to her head and all that…..
I LOVED Hillary and was a delegate in my state, but at this point I simply cannot bear to watch her go through the machinations of being a cheerleader for someone who is geological strata below her.

As she herself said, all he had/has was a speech from 2002.

Worse than Obama himself, are his hideous nasty minions of bottomfeeders and hate filled supporters.
I love myself too much to ever be able to imagine being part of such a horrible group.

As a Jewish person, I could as well have supported Goebbels or Adolph.

Sorry Hill,
No Obama, no way, Never, Ever, EVER.

McCain/Palin 08
after that…we’ll see

Comment by JM08 | 2008-09-20 19:36:48

Exactly who has this gun to Hillarys head forcing her to campaign for Obama ?

Is it Howard Dean and Nancy Pelosi ?

Who cares ? They wont support her in 2012 anyways. She is not the right color.

She should just do a Joe Lieberman and put the needs of the country ahead of any party affiliations, but thats just my opinion.

Comment by JM08 | 2008-09-20 19:39:28

Do you think the voters have a gun to her head ?

Any extra votes she might get in 2012 by being a loyal democrat, will be more than offset by people that just think she has got no backbone by the way she is allowing the DNC and Obama to pimp her out like a $10 whore.

Comment by Ferd McBerfle | 2008-09-20 19:53:27

Wrong. The rules were rigged and she can either make the best and play them as is or get out of the game. Politics is mainly the art of compromise and she understands that even if her supporters don’t. So according to you her only choice is to get out of the game. I don’t think that would be fair to those of us who understand her predicament. And I’d watch the crack about her being “pimped”. That is a very poor analogy and disrespectful.

Comment by lark | 2008-09-20 20:26:11

Politics is mainly the art of compromise

Is much more than that. Hillary’s future was to go PUMA and take the consequences. That way she increased her chances of getting the Party back in her hands. Even if Oblahblah loses, by going with Soetoro, she will not gain the respect necessary to lead the party. The only one that wins now is Bill Clinton. She chose to support her husband’s welfare before hers. But more importantly before the Dem Party and the country.

Comment by Ferd McBerfle | 2008-09-20 20:37:46

I disagree. My beef is with the party and its miscreant leadership. The rules were rigged against her, so her options were to play by those rules or get out of the game. By your reasoning, she should have done the second–but that gets her nowhere in 2012. If she does the first, which sets her up for 2012, you wouldn’t support her.

You just set up the lose-lose scenario, which I have been talking about all night. You can’t get it all in politics, even though you may want it all. I’ll take HRC in 2012 with whatever Oblockhead-induced baggage she is carrying. She is still the best candidate.

Comment by PJ | 2008-09-20 20:44:01

Ferd, I’m so happy that there is another Hillary supporter who gets it.

Hang in there.

Comment by Ferd McBerfle | 2008-09-20 21:06:46

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-09-20 20:09:01

I don’t really see myself as the republican side of the democratic party. I see myself as a sensible moderate who prefers to be ad hoc practical about specific issues. An entire Buy It All Platform is nonsense. For both parties.

I believe that what we are seeing is what is really there. The majority of this party are moderates. The are NOT interested in removing capitalism from America in deference to socialism. We have millions of people who came to this country to get AWAY from that.

The silent and moderate majority of this party will not stand for that. Nor will they stand for the far left left nutball fringe hijacking the party. In the end, it will all be reflected in the votes. That’s how Richard Nixon got re-elected. Democrats preferred him to removal of capitalism. And quite frankly, his “followers” scared people more than the viet nam war did.

It’s your followers, stupid. You want to know what a candidate is? Check and see who’s pulling his strings and what’s enamoured with him. As far as I’m concerned Soros shouldn’t even be in this country if he hates democracy so much.

Comment by Medusa | 2008-09-20 22:28:30

Agreed Uppity. Socialism means the big boys keep the riches and the little people have to share the crumbs. That’s how Bozo and Michelle do it. That’s the way of his elitist followers.

Soros should go back to Transylvania and take Bozo and the other blood-suckers with him.

If you all truly respect Hillary Clinton the way you claim to, you should listen to what she has to say and has been saying. She and Obama are on the same team. Make no mistake if you vote for McCain-Palin you are voting for Republican policies to be implemented. I have noticed a distinct uptick in the level of snark and bitter sophistry used by my (former) fellow PUMA’s and it’s like the election isn’t about any issues to you but Hillary and the primaries.

Obama must lose for Hillary to win? Convince yourself of this if you must, but that is NOT Hillary’s plan. If you vote for McCain or don’t vote, or vote third-party or write in, you are seriously deviating from what HILLARY is asking us to do. Come on folks, I was with you during the primaries, but we need to remember that slogan from the founding period: “Unite or Die.” Hillary DOES know what the right path is this year, and she is able to pursue it because she has no room for bitterness or pettiness in her heart. Voting for Obama, as Hillary is sincerely asking us to do, does not mean we have to forget what happened, or even to forgive. But the people of this country are counting on us to be better than we are being right now. Hate and resentment have a way of poisoning one’s soul, and I fear that’s what’s happening to many of you, including the author of this post.

Ms. Clinton earned my vote.

Mr. Obama has not.

It is that simple.

Justin - my vote was always predicated on country before party. I’m not wavering. Hillary was my first choice and McCain my second. I’ve voted D my entire adult life but this time I’m voting for the good people who are protecting my country. I’m voting for a man who understands the military and will serve our men and women in the armed services with distinction and honor. I want them to have a leader they can proudly hold confidence in.

Barry has never accomplished anything that I could ever predicate my vote on. Never! Honestly, I do not know what or who I’d be voting for in the candidate referred to as the “Messiah”.

Nope. Hillary can ask but that doesn’t mean I’d ever follow.

Amen, Justin! Amen. Larry Johnson has psychologically manipulated these people to do the bidding of the neocons since this election started. He stokes their anger and fear with his anti-Obama propaganda and these PUMAs eat it up. I applaud you for being realistic and adult about this. While you may not like him, Obama’s platform is very similar to Hillary’s. They both want what’s best for the middle class. They are both pro-choice. They both want universal health care. They both want the Iraq war ended responsibly. Both are for women’s rights and equal pay. McCain/Palin offer none of these. They want to continue the same damaging policies of the current neocon administration. It’s like chickens voting for Col Sanders. It makes no sense. Again, you may not like him, but at least respect him.

We found Larry after we searched for people who thought as we do that ob is unfit and dangerous and as we searched for fellow Hillary supporters for news.

As for PSY-OPS, that is what you obots do and your messiah does. You can’t pin that on us just because we didn’t drink the koolade and smoke the hopeium.

And as for their platforms being the same, ahem, we remember when he STOLE them from HER and Edwards too.

And no, they aren’t the same, ob’s record is horrific and he is not worthy to be her VP.

STOP the CRAP and wake the hell up. You have created more Hillary voters and more McCain voters than their own supporters have.

Comment by Justin | 2008-09-21 13:02:38

Respecting Clinton does not make me a blind follower.

This is how Clinton supporters differ from Obama supporters.

The question is not whether you consider yourself a ‘blind’ follower. It’s whether you trust Hillary’s judgment. I trust her, and I’m saying this not as a ‘former’ Hillary supporter, but a current one. I’m supporting her by supporting the causes she champions and asks for our help on. Look at how she is out there in front of issues like the financial crisis, backdoor attempts to circumvent a woman’s right to choose, etc. But for some reason, you can’t see why voting for Obama is necessary? This is the real world, people, not the fantasy PUMA world you would like it to be. Hillary is pragmatic and smart–and as I said, it’s obvious she has no room for bitterness and pettiness in her heart, because the urgency of the issues that count demands nothing less–so she gets it. Some of you do not, apparently. She didn’t HAVE to fully endorse Obama or start a grassroots movement to elect him. No one is making her do these things; she’s doing it because she thinks it’s the right thing to do. That should be a clue that those of you saying “no can do” are going off the rails, and the author of this post should be ashamed for leading their readers up the garden path.

Don’t follow Hillary blindly. Follow in her footsteps armed with the knowledge of the flaws in the Democratic nominating process, and of the ugly specter of sexism and misogyny that exists in our culture. Follow her lead knowing that Barack Obama, despite not being the best salesman or the best campaigner, is still better than John McCain. John Kerry wasn’t so great a candidate either, neither was Gore, but you “life long Democrats” somehow saw the necessity of voting for him. Is it just about Obama personally? I would suggest that’s unworthy of our great democracy, and a sell-out of everything we purport to care about.

If HR676 came across Obama’s desk, would he veto it? I think he’d sign it, but even if you said it’s hard to tell and he might not, it’s still not a certain veto. McCain would veto even Hillary’s health care plan, which was not even as good as HR676. He would veto it with glee as an example of “big government spending” because that’s who he is, and that’s how little he cares about the people of this country versus his own ‘maverick’ image inside the Beltway. Follow Hillary’s lead KNOWING that we cannot afford a repeat of the 2000 election; need I remind you all that Al Gore appeared to be a pretty pathetic candidate in 2000, and look at him now! If a few hundred people in Miami-Dade had voted for Gore instead of Nader, or Buchanan, or Bush, we would never have invaded Iraq. Think of the people who have died because of those votes, and go into this election with the FULL knowledge of what you’re doing and what the ramifications of your vote could be. Playing identity politics and voting for McCain because Palin is a woman, or seems like “someone you’d like to have a beer with” because she seems down to earth, is so cheap and unworthy of the struggles that our predecessors underwent to secure our right to vote for the kind of government and society we want that I cannot find the words for it.

Perhaps the most insulting notion I have seen floating around here and at the Confluence, etc. is the idea that Obama must lose so that Hillary can win in 2012. Like I said before, that is not Hillary’s plan, folks! Why would you want to throw an election to make way for a candidate that is not even thinking about 2012 yet and is trying to elect the very person you claim is “unacceptable” or “unelectable”? Are we just trying to cause Obama to lose so that we can say “I told you so?” How SELFISH all you would-be McCain voters are! Your petty revenge versus solutions to the real issues that face America. As Bill Clinton would say:

“Shame on you!”

By all means, let’s not do anything blindly in this election. The time for that has long past. If I hadn’t come to trust Hillary’s astute judgment of what the right path for us is, her passionate and sincere endorsement would have rang hollow. But just like during the primaries, when everyone was trying to read her mind and figure out what she “really” wanted–you’re assigning motives to her that she has directly contradicted in her words and actions. “What does Hillary want?” - remember that? She wants health care for every American, to end the war in Iraq, to rebuild the American dream at home…and to that end, right now she sees electing Obama as the best way to secure those goals. Hard to believe for some, but that’s reality.

PUMA’s need to mourn the fact that she didn’t become our nominee and take control of the anger and resentment festering in their hearts. I would also stop reading the websites like this one that are telling you exactly what you want to hear. You’re looking for an excuse to vote for McCain and to hurt Obama in REVENGE for what happened during the primaries. My friends, I was so with you even just a couple of months ago, but one thing I know is that good outcomes so rarely happen when we go off on a quest for vengeance. Many of you will, despite my words, convince yourself that it’s OK to vote for McCain even though you supported Hillary on the ISSUES and he stands diametrically opposed to her. But for those who really do want to differentiate themselves from Obama’s supporters and not be blind, try to recognize what’s driving that desire to convince yourself. Remember why you respect Hillary and consider for just a moment, that she has it right, as she invariably does.

I’m sure someone will interpret this as a death threat, but will say it again because I mean it metaphorically: “UNITE OR DIE” Because if we do not unite, our dreams will die at the hands of the conservative movement. They would be happy to get your votes and give you a steaming pile of shit in return. Please, reconsider, in the name of all that is good.

Keep the faith my PA friend. Tell at least 1 person each day why you support McCain.

If we each convert 1 person each day to our cause by 4 Nov we will have our landslide.

Justin,

Hillary’s qualities are nontransferable. Barack is not Hillary, he does not share her commitments, convictions, experience or smarts.

You can claim to be anything you want, but you were never a real PUMA if you are saying these things.

my vote is mine. i have my own brain, my own heart and… my own mortgage to pay, my own business to save and my own non-existent retirement fund to, well, fund. someday. hopefully really soon considering i’m um… in my fifties.

yeah, so hillary can share her feelings and desires with me all she wants, but unless she’s interested in taking care of my responsibilities, well, no thanks. i’ll make decisions and vote based on what’s good for me in my country (which is the one where regular folk live, not the one where “do-good” multi-millionaires live. y’know, the ones who feel our pain while they’re on vacation or hobnobbing with the stars).

i wouldn’t dare tell hillary how to vote, so… i’ve just about had it with the constant harping about “hillary says…” good lord, she’s a far better choice than barky, more qualified, a ton more intelligent, nicer, etc., but c’mon, she’s hillary and right now she’s shilling for a crook, a thief, a CHEATER.

i gave her my vote - she threw it away. she has no right to tell me to whom i should give any more of my votes. sorry if i seem a little “bitter” “clingy,” “low-information” and (gasp!!) “uneducated,” but i don’t tell anyone else on the blogs for whom they should vote - i get a little testy when others find it necessary to chastise us for not voting for obama ’cause hillary said.

I disagree with folks here who say she is forced and HAS to do this. That is tin-foil headed nonsense.
I voted for her in the primary ffor the same reason i will vote mccain/palin in the GE.
I need seasoned leadership to navigate these tough times.
Maybe Justin you are hillary’s sheep. I am not. It is about who i trust and who has a record of reform and change.
That is certainly not obama. Not to mention i am not interested in william ayer’s views on education being thrust upon my 2 daughters because obama gets elected.
I am not interested in a guy fixing the housing mess when he has been an accomplice and benefitted from it.
His friend is in the federal pen right now.
His pastor preached anti-white hatred to obama for 20 years.
I cannot in good conscience vote him in. I have family in the army and i do not trust their lives in that novice’s hands.

Excellent comment. The more Hillary does for Obama, the more it looks like she doesn’t see a problem with William Ayers, or the rest of his creepy friends. The Clinton Global Initiative could use her expertise on women’s issues in developing countries. She and Bill should spend the October recess working on that.

Hillary wants to run in 2012 but she wants Obama to win, now if someone can explain that to me maybe I will understand.

Comment by SJ | 2008-09-20 20:41:51

Let me also add when I go on those Obamabot sites and see them jumping for joy at Hillary’s new found love and support for Obama, that does not make me feel happy.

These were the same people I had to beat off nightly with words in defense of Hillary when they were saying the most vile things about her, Bill and her daughter, now am supposed to join and embrace them for Obama’s sake.

All what Hillary spoke to me I believed, all what she said about Obama his connections, his not being ready, all that was done during the primaries, searching the web to defend Hillary on every issue, going on TM and defending her when that site was turning the other way, now am supposed to embrace Obama?

No sorry I cant understand this, and I cannot understand what Hillary is doing, it just does not make sense the only thing I can come up with is she is now supporting Obama and wants him to win

SJ - it’s simple. She’s running an insider’s campaign. She is going after the Senate Majority position and therefore needs to play loyal D. It’s nothing more simple than this.

Change your Hillary frame from running for Prez to running for Majority Leader. You’ll quickly start to see the game she must play in order to win. And trust me, we need her to win!

It isn’t hate or resentment, to not vote for the one who would slap your sister in front of you. He isn’t family, no matter how hard anyone tries to convince of a political relationship between the two. The other point, most are not followers who would have voted for Senator Clinton, most are supporting, there is a vast difference between the two. There is little difference between blind faith and folly.

If you are looking for honor and integrity, McCain isn’t the way to go. In fact, maybe you should just sit out of politics.

God you are one stupid obamabothead. In the first place your argument is fallacious, consisting of an appeal to common practice, essentially. Second, the post wasn’t about McCain, it was about Oblockhead; third, no one cares what you think.

I thought for a minute your moniker was matches and that maybe you had burned yourself stupid but I see I was mistaken. Your moniker is matchles, which is your own 6th grade way of spelling matches and that you did, in fact, burn yourself stupid. Sorry for that misunderstanding. Go away, stupid.

Comment by matchles | 2008-09-21 00:26:24

I never concluded that lies told by politicians were morally valid so your claim of appeal to common practice is wrong. I can see you had trouble following the argument so let me write it out for you then you can look for your fallacies.

1. Obama has made misleading and false statements in campaign ads.
2. According to the OP these misleading statements mean Obama has no honor or integrity.
3. McCain has also made misleading and false statements in campaign ads.
4. Therefore, McCain has no honor or integrity.

If he didn’t accept the argument, than my call of hypocrisy was introduced.

For someone so concerned with fallacies you would think I wouldn’t have to point out your Ad Hominem attacks and your straw man attack (as you attack a conclusion that I never draw in my post).

It’s funny, my screen name does predate 6th grade (though this was in the BBS era) though the spelling was always purposeful. I guess it is just a little ironic being told you have a stupid screen name by someone named Ferd McBerfle. Oh well, I hope you at least thought your story of my screen name was clever.

Manipulating the stock market? absolutely. Anything to win. And he has the power brokers behind him.

This latest, having Hillary pull out because of Palin, is only going to hurt her with her Jewish voters in NY. I looked up some of the other women BO has camapaigning for him, and some are from fairly conservative states. BO is probably going to hurt them too.

I feel for Hillary. She is forced to follow orders, or lose her status in the DNC. When BO is defeated, they will still blame her (and the whole racist thing too). I think BO wants her destroyed, and very well may succeed.

The ironic part of it all is that all these Dems creating him, (Dean, Brazzile, and the rest) he will turn on at some point. He has done it already to his mentors in IL. He’ll throw anyone under the bus.

I certainly hope the Repubs are going to out him before Nov 4. Just casually searching I have found many old articles in the Chicago papers that show his true nature. Maybe I should go back and screenshot them before they disappear too.

I used to get annoyed at the people that would say they would leave the country if their candidate wasn’t elected (remember that Baldwin). Now I find myself thinking about it. I always voted and have usually been fairly enthusastic about my candidate. But, I have never felt this fear about someone being elected.

After seeing what he did to Bill (Bill a racist???)& Hill in the primaries, the way the MSM worships him, and what his followers are doing online; I am truly terrified for my country.

Comment by mimi | 2008-09-20 22:21:56

The protest organizers were trying to exploit Hillary. It’s really transparent for those who can see. They wanted coverage for their event so that slipped a Mickey on Hillary and invited Palin. That way their event would be covered. BIG TIME!

Hillary backed out. So!

They didn’t have to rescind Palin’s invitation. But they caved. That’s not Hillary fault.

Comment by karen for Clinton (sigh, McPalin now) | 2008-09-21 07:50:07

The Jewish groups were threatened with having their tax-exempt status attacked and were according to reports pressured for having Palin speak.

They did cave, but they just might mobilize behind McCain because of the “McCarthyism” they endured.

They also offered Palin to come to other events.

I’d bet they get the last word in all of this and have some interesting things to say to their democratic representatives, including HILLARY.

Hillary is going to side with her constituents even when ob puts her between a rock and a hard place.

We know the ob camp is out to kill off anyone who supported her in favor of those who came out early for him, and that of course includes Hillary herself.

I am sure she has eyes behind her head and is carefully guarding her own back at all times.

What do you want to hear them bad mouthing her worse than we have heard already because they will . It’s almost over.

If you can not understand it isn’t just about today , tomorrow and the next 40 plus days then by all means you will never forgive Hillary and that’s your right to feel that way.

I’m willing to vote McCain for 4 yrs so maybe, maybe in 4 yrs we have a FDR/Clinton Party again and hope for our future.

Not everything happens over night or next week and if we can help to defeat Obama then we need Bill and Hillary to take the leadership roll which she will have also MORE THAN EARNED HER STRIPES for. ( And of course she is having to do more than anyone else has EVER had to do . )

If you can’t remember what she and Bill have said and you don’t trust them nothing anyone can say will change that for you.

I am not a democrat. I am a Clinton Democrat. Whole different animal.
The DNC, in their vast wisdom, told me to go away. I did. There is nothing they can say to ever get me back. I am now an independent. I believe I will always be one. When the DNC chose to illegally move votes they lost any residual respect I still had for the word democrat. Now I don’t care what letter is behind a name.
It doesn’t bother me to see what they are making Hillary do. I understand she will do or say anything to protect her country. The day she left the race is the day she left the race completely. I no longer listen to her speeches, I know she doesn’t mean a word. She is doing what she must for the good of this country. If she is to ever have a chance to lead us the way she knows she can she has to do what she has to do.
I will always be a Clinton Democrat….if they ever run a Clinton I’m their girl. Anytime, any place, I will help her. She is out of this race and I bare her no ill feelings. I respect her grit in doing the one thing she would never want to do. I want her to fight on the way she is doing. She is refusing to attack Palin, I love that she has made a stand.
In a few years when she has held the party together, with what we leave her to gather to her, she will come back smarter, stronger and win this country back.
I will always support her bills in congress, I will donate to her campaigns and her causes. I will write in, sign her petitions, and do what I can to encourage her for the next few years. We need Hillary to be POTUS. That is the one clear fact in all this mess. We need Hillary.
If I have to wait for her I will. If I have to vote for McCain and Palin to make her stronger, I will. If I have to vote against any and all Obama super-delegates I will. It won’t hurt at all. I will do it for her.
In a few years when she declares again I will begin the real work. I will do everything I can for her campaign. She will be President. She will lead us the way we all know she can. She will be amazing.
When we look back on this, we will know that what we did was tough love in the extreme, but, extreme is called for.
I will never let my country be taken over by these criminals and anti-American people. I will never stop saying P.U.M.A. Never.
Hillary will be the 45th President of these United States and it will be the proudest day of my life when she takes her oath of Office.
The only weapon we have is our vote. I intend to use mine to take down the people that did not speak up for her. I intend to support her supporters. I intend to make her President at the earliest opportunity.
Hillary was born for this and I am proud of the role I will play in her journey.
P.U.M.A.
Hillary 2012

“Obama is a creation, albeit a very flawed one, of the so-called Democratic Party. And that’s the rub: the Democratic Party showed signs of a terminal illness throughout the primaries, and it died the day of the Rules and By-laws Committee decision to give Hillary’s votes to their selected candidate.”

I couldn’t agree more. The RBC decision was a huge turning point for me, and one of the most infamous moments of a rather brutal and underhanded primary season. It’s why I call myself an independent now, because the Democratic party has become something else under its current leadership. However, I hope to be a part of the coalition the wrenches it back from the hands of these Chicago Dems and those like-minded.

You can’t vote for the “Republican” side of the “Democratic” Party.

First of all, there is no “Democratic” Party left to vote for, since Obama hijacked the party. It is now a liberal leftwing one-man-party that does not have money to support downticket candidate for Senate or House, because it only cares about the One.
There is hardly anything of a Democratic agenda left.

Secondly, a vote for the “Republican” side of the formerly “Democratic” party is a vote for the liberal leftwing one-man-party.

Conclusion: If you consider yourself a conservative, centrist, non-liberal, non-leftist Democrat, you have to stay at home and wait for the next election or vote for the second best and that is McCain.
By doing so, you make sure that in 4 years time, you will get the pairing that was in the cards this year: McCain vs. Clinton.

SJ said:

See when I see post like Justin above, I can never understand what the hell it is Hillary is trying to do, Hillary can only run in 2012 if Obama does not win, so what the hell is all this get ready crap about?

Hillary wants to run in 2012 but she wants Obama to win, now if someone can explain that to me maybe I will understand.

SJ, I am on your side, and despite what the tin-foil hat crowd will say I have not been “kidnapped” and fed any kool-aid. I and my significant other are NO less angry or resentful of what happened during the primaries, and I was more than ready for a convention fight. But in the end, Obama became the nominee, and Hillary even cast her superdelegate vote for him. She didn’t HAVE to do this, she sees it as the right thing to do, because despite all their differences in style and strategy, their broad goals are essentially the same. Let me repeat that again. Hillary and Obama are on the same team.

I was not an Obama supporter during the primaries, and I’m still not thrilled with him. But how often does a candidate come along who can thrill us like Hillary or Bill Clinton? In a way Obama’s campaign has been no less disappointing than the Democratic losing candidates of previous elections; it’s just that our expectations and standards had been set to high by this amazing woman.

Hillary always tells us what she’s doing and what she wants and what she thinks is right. The OFB always thought there were “real” reasons that she wasn’t saying, but we all saw how she was just fighting for us. She’s STILL doing that right now, and 2012 is not on her mind. It’s right now, this election. Like she said in her convention speech “Wee you just in it for me?”

I’d just like to offer the thought that those of you convincing yourself to vote for McCain should not delude yourself into thinking you’re doing it for Hillary, because all you’re doing is betraying her and (as a bonus) proving that she can’t deliver your votes when it counts.

What burns me the most is the people on here saying that they are now doubting her because she is so fully supporting Obama. That shows me that to those people, it was all about hating Obama from the get-go, and THAT is why I can’t be a PUMA anymore. I can’t get on board with cheap hatred and resentment. I can’t get on board with throwing an election when there’s so much at stake.

SJ, I appreciate your fair mindedness, because when I read the PUMA sites now I am frightened for our country. If we’re ready to give up this easily, we don’t stand a chance.

Comment by Ferd McBerfle | 2008-09-21 13:26:36

SJ, I’d just like to reiterate that the “Hillary 2012″ notion is currently still just an invention of people who claim to support her online. I guarantee you Hillary has no such plans and is devoting her all to what is happening right NOW. I’m not saying she won’t run, but she’s given no indication that she is planning on it. We can think about 2012 all we want but we need to remember we are in the middle of an election right now that will determine the course of the future of our country one way or the other.

The commenters on here can say all they want that I’m “creating” McCain supporters, but let’s not fool ourselves here. If a stray commenter on the internet can move your vote, you never cared about much to begin with.

She didn’t let me down. I want the opportunity to vote for her in 2012 and if she has to play by their rigged rules to so do, then I hope she plays the game well. Those who feel that “she let them down” are either fair-weather supporters or they simply do not understand politics, imo.

Amen, she didn’t let me down either, and those who think that are basically fair-weather supporters as you said.

Let’s all remember one key fact: Hillary wants Obama to win. We can be fair-weather supporters and turn our backs on her, or we can show that we trust her judgment and be realistic about this election. Like I said before, we don’t have to vote for Obama blindly. We should continue to be critical, that’s been long overdue of Democratic candidates, in fact. But voting Republican or third-party is a vote for our team to lose. It’s as simple as that, and I think you understand that on some level.

Let me state this as succinctly as I can–I am voting for McCain. Oblahblah was never on my list and I left the Democratic party (32-yr member) as a result. I will not return until all those responsible for this fiasco are summarily dismissed and the party rules revised in their entirety to include a provision for barring caucuses. I have had it. Oblahblah is an utter disgrace–no more, no less.

That’s the whole point Justin. For the, as you put it, “Team” to lose…oh you are such a concerned troll.

I’m voting FOR Mac and Moose Mama..This is not a protest vote..I admire Cindy and all that these people stand for. They are true patriots that will protect the sovereignty of our nation. Obullshet will not! Hillary is done. There is no confirmation of her running in 2012. It’s just false hope and conjecture. Leaving your top slot empty is an invitation for Obullcrap to take your vote for his own. This is one of his strategies in his bag of fraud tricks. He did it in the primaries. He paid election officials in most states to assist in the stealing of registered non voters and empty top slots to give the vote to him..thus the slow tallying and reporting. Take heed.

I find it so bitterly ironic that my fellow Hillary supporters now seem to be turning on her, and tut-tutting her for supporting Obama, and now calling me a sexist(!). Perhaps I should turn that around and call you sexist for even thinking of voting for a different party on the basis of gender?

Remember, hate with reasons is still hate. Any Christian reading this will understand what I mean when I say that hate can blind you and poison your soul, make you forget what is good and just. You all can call me a concern troll or “in the tank” for Obama all you want, but I don’t think you even know what you mean anymore. It’s all just words to paper over thinly veiled rage. It accomplishes NOTHING except to enact the exact opposite policies of what Hillary campaigned for. Is that so hard to see?

As for whether I was ever a “real” PUMA, I guess I never was. Because I thought it was all about issues, substance. But that doesn’t seem to be what’s driving most of the commenters here who prefer to ‘catapult the propaganda’ instead of listen to someone who is not trying to deceive or mislead them, but to reach out.

I’d be more gentle about it, but I don’t think anything less would get through. Those of you who have already decided to do the unthinkable (vote Republican) probably won’t be convinced. But the rest–those of you who, like me, see the path of No Quarter (et. al.) as consisting of more right-wing propaganda by the day–I’d just like to point out that the authors of this blog are doing you a disservice. By telling you exactly what you (and probably they) want to hear, they’re muddling your mind with hate and leading you down a path that is in direct contradiction with what you profess to want.

Hillary is done. There is no confirmation of her running in 2012. It’s just false hope and conjecture

Let’s just hypothesize: if McCain were to win, it’s possible that Hillary might seek the nomination again in 2012. I’m not saying that it won’t happen. But I just think we should be clear that Hillary is not hoping for Obama to lose so she can run in 2012. That’s the fabrication and the false hope that I see in play here. I get the sense that some people really think that the Clintons hate Obama and that they are hoping he will lose…this little alternate-reality bubble is unsustainable in the face of the facts. So let’s puncture it right here.

Even if Hillary WOULD run in 2012, that gives the GOP 4 years to erase any memory of the Bush presidency. We could be in a far WORSE position in four years as opposed to now, when the crashing economy is staring the nation square in its face. Four years is a long time to give them to regroup; the time to drive a stake in the GOP is now!

Hillary and Bill are outstanding Americans who see that this is not the time for intra-party feuds, not the time to “make a point” by throwing the election to McCain. That would cheapen and denigrate everything they have fought for their whole lives. I’d like to hear from others on here who at least see that!

If you’re a Clinton Democrat, I implore you to vote Democrat! Otherwise, don’t fool yourself, you’re a “McCain Democrat,” or just another undecided fooled by the Republicans with a little image makeover.

Remember how the “reformer with results” worked out?

One more thought: has it occurred to any of you that there are likely McCain operatives on this blog making comments to convince you that other Hillary supporters are voting for him to make it seem acceptable? You believe it about the Obama campaign, after all, and we know that the McCain campaign long ago started doing “outreach” to Democratic blogs in this way.

Justin go away. You are not contributing to this thread in a meaningful way, and you are becoming offensive.

Go take a look at this blog post, which points out how Hillaryis44 edited Senator Clinton’s convention speech to exclude all the parts where she talks positively about Barack Obama. LINK

It’s time to stop looking for ’subliminal messages’ or ’signs’ that Hillary wants Obama to lose so she can run in 2012. It’s a fantasy, and the authors of the blogs that can’t face the reality they don’t like are misleading all of you.

“Barack Obama is my candidate. And he must be our President.” — Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton
