Help Retire Hillary’s Debt (+ Open Thread)
By SusanUnPC on September 21, 2008 at 12:45 PM in Hillary Clinton, Open Thread
… and meet Hillary at the benefit. The event, Monday night (September 22nd) is at Hiro in New York City. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. Click here for all the details.
It sounds like a great bash! Hope some of you East Coasters can make it. And, now:
What else is going on in the world?

I received this invitation last night. Although I cannot attend, I will donate.
Hillary deserves all the support she can get to get clear of her campaign debt. She stayed in the primaries to the end, and fought as hard as she could against BO, in order to give us a sense of ourselves, our numbers, and our true goals for this country.
Hillary’s efforts came at enormous cost to her, not just financially, but, more important, politically. She is still paying the price with the charade being exacted of her by the BO gang.
To not acknowledge our obligations as Hillary’s supporters betrays her historic efforts, and our own.
Help pay down the debt.
McCain/Palin 2008
Hillary 2012
PUMA!!!
Yes, let’s help Hillary if we have any $$ to spare.
I do not want Obama to win the WH with the help of the biased media coverage that hurt Hillary.
I found this great video that does a side by side comparison of the “ladies ” on the View with BO and McCain…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdKL2LW1xYM
I thought you all might like to see it.
If you cannot donate much, donate $20.12!!!
If you can donate more donate $X20.12, with X being any number from one to nine!
Send the message that we want to see her front and center in four years’ time!
COOL IDEA! I’m in!
Good. No Quarter should donate heavily to this cause, for No Quarter is the only Hillary blog left standing.
I wish the Clinton team would tell us how much debt is left over from the actual campaign. I’m pretty much maxed out … however, I’d give more to retire the actual 2008 Primaries campaign debt.
It seemed as though she finished with $19 million. Now its over $20M. There were a lot of supporters who flooded in to help pay down the debt right after that info was released. Yet, the debt has increased … or continues to remain about the same. How much of it is ongoing … how much is going to support her efforts to help Obama?
My position: I’ll help Hillary pay for her campaign debt. But I won’t give one bloody cent to help pay for ongoing expenses to have her help/promote Obama.
His campaign should be reimbursing her for those kind of expenses.
And, I won’t do anything … even giving to Hillary … that would promote that nomination-stealing phony or the DNC that selected him or the down-ticket Dems who went along with it!
— peniel cronin
I’ll clarify this: in the first two weeks after the end of the Primaries, I gave a substantial amount to help retire Hillary’s campaign debt. At the time, I wrote, “that proud woman should not leave this race in debt”. And, so I gave.
But now, I want to know WHAT EXPENSES I’m paying for.
a) Hers?
b) or Hers to help Obama, et al?
If its HERS then I’ll keep giving. Hillary paid the price for every one of us… she deserves all the support she will ever receive … in any form! I absolutely love and revere that proud woman … and she should be our nominee!
– peniel
I agree. I was part of the last big drive to retire her debt. They never released any numbers to us. Then she is even more in debt than they said she was.
They should have had one of those contribution meters on her site so we could be informed.
I agree Truthteller; NQ is the only one left standing….
NQ is doing a primier job. But don’t discount others like Hillbuzz, Conflucian, Tom in Paine and others that still are standing strong!
I know of Tom in Paine, and I remember reading HillBuzz during the primaries. But I am not familiar with Conflucian. What is that?
truthteller, pardon the typo, google confluence or riverdaughter
I still do not know what that is. Who are they? And who designed that site?
Also therealbarackobama.com is an invaluable source of all things about the corruption surrounding Obama.
Nobama!!
Actually, it should be:
http://www.therealbarackobama.wordpress.com
You mean “The Confluence ” riverdaughter.wordpress.com
a great pro hillary site
i have never heard of it.
NQ is doing a premier job. But don’t discount others like Hillbuzz, Conflucian, Tom in Paine and others that still are standing strong!
I dontated $20.12 a few days ago to give her the message that I want her back on the ballot in 2012. Hopefully she also gets the message that by wanting her on the ballot in 2012 it obviously means we won’t vote for Obama in 2008.
Invoking racism into the election is not about shaming whites into voting black. Invoking racism is to incite racism to make sure that the minorities vote for the minority and that they make it to the polls on Election Day.
I’m not ashamed to vote for a white man and woman so it’s a waste of Obama’s time and money to try and make me feel like the low-life he has proven himself to be.
I’m not a rich man. Retired and I live on a fixed income. I have never been a fan of hers, but if she were to bail on the Obama campaign, I would be happy to help.
As of now, I view her as an Obama supporter.
Yep, ditto that. Except I was a fan and still am of Bill Clinton. I realy don’t know that much about Hillary except that she is working for Obama. So long as she endorses and campaigns for Obama I really have no use for her either. If Bill Clinton goes to work for Obama I will really be disappointed.
Oh please that is bullshit. She is NOT woerkng for Obama : READ AND LISTEN TO HER SPEECHES AND INTERVIEWS FOR YOURSELF. She is working to get Dems elected to Congress and raise money to pay off her debt. SHE BARELY MENTIONS OBAMA EVER AND IF SHE DOES IT IS AT MOST ONCE AS “BARACK AND JOE” IN TEH CONTEXT OF HAVING A DEMOCRAT TO HELP ACHIEVE what’s she’s talking about.
It is real easy to bash Hillary isn’t it? Well,
you are playing right into the propaganda and eating all baloney the MSM and the jerks at the DNC want you to have; “the unity” is BS.
Everyone loves bashing Hillary now; you guys
great should apply for a job at MSNBC.
Well, the most polite thing I can say to you is that you aren’t very politically astute.
You don’t understand party politics, either. If you abandon the party nominee, the party cuts you DEAD. You’re DEAD to them, capisce?
Clinton is doing what she HAS to do. She has a gun to her head. Anyone with half a brain knows that.
So keep your lousy money.
No I really do not capisce. I am Irish, not Italian. But I do understand POLITICS AS USUAL by going along to get along and that is exactly what Ms Clinton is doing. Do you for one minute think she would give you the time of day if it in any way would jeopordize her political career? She has already given your vote to Obama whether you like it or not. Or perhaps she called and asked you if it was okay for her to take that upon herself.
I will keep my ‘lousy’ money for which I have worked very hard. You sound like an Obama thug. Yeah, I know you’re for Hillary. Keep your lousy politics. A capito?
Well, fuck you very much, then.
Read my note above to your equally obtuse alter-ego–you don’t “get it.”
You’re also a stupid asshole if you think any money going to McCain – Palin is GOING to McCain – Palin.
They’ve accepted PUBLIC FINANCING, ya dummy.
Any money that is going to them is actually going to DOWNTICKET REPUBLICANS.
What makes a McCain-Palin ticket tolerable to most angry Hillary Democrats is a DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS to check and balance them.
There are few times I wish this forum had an IGNORE feature–this is one of them. You should take your GOP loving ass off to the RNC, you’d be happier there, I suspect.
That is the what we all expect to hear from the Obama cult. Have a nice day.
I think I will decline. Hillary has a lot more money than I have. Besides Why would I want to aid and abet someone who is aiding and abetting Obama? If the politician is going to dance then the politician has to pay the fiddler just like everyone else and right now Hillary is dancing to obama’s rap. Hillary will try and help the jerk win and I will be voting and giving my money to McCain/Palin to try and keep Obama from winning. No money left for Hill.
Very well said. I agree. All my money and efforts henceforth go toward McCain/Palin. I wish Hillary would demonstrate more respect for herself and this country and choose to step away and remain away from the corrupt, misogynistic DNC and Dem elites. To say nothing of the Empty Suit perpetrated upon mankind.
NO DEAL.
PUMA
Sorry Susan,
I would not at this time attend any Hillary event.
I also would not give one dime to her.
I did support her heavily but no more, not with her out campaigning for Obama and based on what she did to get Governor Palin uninvited to the UN event tomorrow. I think Hillary is playing dirty pool and I for one would have to think twice about supporting her again.
The Democrats are just downright down and dirty.
The Saturday Night Live skit about the Palin family was absolutely disgusting last night though I am sure Hillary had nothing to do with that but the Democrats in general sure do.
How about some sketches about Obarky and co.? Huh? Whatever happened to equal parody. SNL is a piece of shit operation. Where the hell is Fred Armison, the Jew that was playing Obarky? Lemme guess–Axelrod had him fired from the staff. LOL
SNL – a shit operation? You bet. Self-absorbed ‘look-at-me-I’m-a-liberal’ dicks
While I cannot attend, I will donate. Hillary fought a good fight–for the people.
I do wish she would take a week off and rest though. She looked really rough at the last event she attended. I think helping Obama is taking a serious tol on her mental health and it shows in her eyes.
I love Hillary, but I think she should have Barry with his million$ and his rich friends pay-off her debt. It’s the least he could do.
He’s refusing to help her. It’s up to us.
So long as Hillary works for Obama the least he could do would be to pay for her expense–even if that expense accrued before or after the fact [that she has gone to work for him].
Clinton Fan, You know I cannot understand why it is up to us.
The lady has zillions of dollars so why should we help her. She will write a few more books and have a billion dollars. Why should ordinary people like us help her anymore especially since she is knocking herself out for that maggot Obama.
I was a supporter but not anymore. I contributed the max already to her campaign and it was money thrown away.
McCain/Palin 08
He’s not even helping downticket Dems.
I am not saying this to be snarky, I really want to know and hope someone can explain it to me…what is the rationale behind a winning candidate paying off the losing candidate debt? This is the first year I have heard of this.
I hope she, Sen. Hillary Clinton is ok. Sen. Clinton Platform is not the same as Obama’s.
I will not support Obama.
It is time for Obama to stand on his own.
Dixie,
Well said, with solid reasoning. After all, why are many of us here at NQ – Republicans, Democrats, Independents – we are people who put America first.
I will be forced into a reverse mortgage in the next 9 months. Still, I would help a patriot, and I have helped Larry Johnson, but a politician? Nyet.
TILLTHEN
I put mine on the line years ago just about the time McCain did. Not for a party , not for a man, not for a woman, but for this nation and all the men and women and children that live in it and respect it. There are a lot of US who still put America first and foremost. I have been thinking about the reverse mortgage myself. If not for the VA and the program(s) they have for vets I would already be a goner.
DIXIE,
Its good to hear a good story that has to do with the VA. Glad you made it OK. I was in between Korea and Nam, and I would not have been able to get my BS in Chemistry without the VA help. No way.
Its great to love America, and be American and no one should ever place politics above country, I don’t give a rat’s ass who it is.
Why are you insisting on retiring her debt? She is going out of her way to endorse Obama by not attending the rally against Ahmadinejad’ visit just because Sara Plaine was invited too, and now the so called Democratic Party forced the rally organizers to disinvite Paline. She is doing everything to be on the good side of “her party”.
Have you read this article?
Clinton unveils new pro-Obama effort
Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor September 19, 2008 04:53 PM
Senator Hillary Clinton announced today a new grassroots effort to get her supporters to fall in behind one-time rival Barack Obama.
“As we continue to read the headlines about our troubled economy, the stakes of this election only get higher. Today I am asking all of you to hit the phones, hit the road, and spread the word that we must elect Barack Obama President and we must send a filibuster-proof majority to Congress,” Clinton said in a statement.
“This is a call to action. We all have a role. And there is not a moment to lose,” added Clinton, who is attending a private event today in Boston. “Tell them that Hillary sent you.”
The effort is being organized by Clinton’s political action committee, in conjunction with Obama’s campaign and other Democratic campaigns, and will launch Saturday morning at her PAC’s website, where there will be information on canvassing, phone banking, blogging, and other activities.
Each weekend, the effort will focus on a different battleground state, starting Sept. 27-28 in New Hampshire. Pennsylvania is scheduled for Oct. 12-13. She won both states during the primaries.
THANK YOU Sara.
Besides Why would I want to aid and abet someone who is aiding and abetting Obama? ”
Ditto. If McCain wins then maybe I will go back to helping Hillary but not before.
Sorry SunsanUnPC, but as long as she supports Obama, she does not get a dime from me. I adamently supported Hillary in the primaries, but my efforts are now going to be for John McCain and Sarah Palin. Besides, since Hillary is on the Obamaphalooza bandwagon now, why doesn’t she ask her new friend to retire her debt and let those of us who need it keep our own money?
I agree.
I did send money to help Senator Clinton retire her debt, during the July 4th push, and have wondered if it ever made it to her or not. That is the problem for me, is is she getting the money, how to be sure now. I don’t trust that the DNC or the O campaign won’t stick their grubby fingers in it.
You can go to fec.gov and click on the blue where it says “Presidential,” and when the next screen comes up you’ll see on the bottom of the page “Donor’s name,” and “Begins with”, and in the blank box type in your last name. All your contributions (I think through the last month) should show up (along with others who have your last name).
Snosandy,
Thanking you for that reminder! Dang I forgot those contributions would now be posted by name. Going to check.
I find that I have not bought the tapes of their last speeches at the convention, namely as I find them repulsive. I would pay if they had a CD or DVD of the Pablo rally, Neptune, Adams Field house and the Stevi rally.
That was when I was trying my best to get her elected, back when I thought I was still a democrat after decades of supporting in that manner at the polls but not from my pocket book or spending time on the phones trying to get out the vote.
What I had realized early on that this year I was a Clinton Democrat or McCain and his running mate was my choice. I would not have voted for her in the VP position as she had more value as a Senator from NY as a flunky for BO. I believe Larry Sinclair I do not trust BO and hopefully people will open their eyes and hearts and give us John McCain and Sarah Palin, they love America as much as Hillary does.
Barack Obama and the DNC should retire her debt. I am not contributing anymore money to Hillary at this time.
The Democratic party (those who want Obama to win) should be around 30 million voters, no?
It is their responsibility to retire her debt if they want her to help Obama.
I am now a democrat for McCain-Palin, and there are only 40 something days left till election day, and beating Obama. That is where funds should be directed (ads, etc) in my opinion.
Meanwhile, if people are really Hillary supporters and want her for president, then they would help defeat Obama.
McCain will be a one term president. If Obama wins, he could be a two term president.
If Obama wins, the chances of Hillary ever being president are diminished greatly.
So, it’s:
McCain 08
Hillary 12
My priority is helping McCain win.
Nothing changes. It’s always Hillary’s fault even amongst her so-called supporters, and no matter the circumstances. She fought for us until the bitter end and endured more shit than any male politician has ever had to endure during a primary. She also put herself on the line financially and politically, in order that we would discover the fraud obama truly is and this is the thanks she gets?!
John Lennon was right…”women are the niggers of the world.”
Take your anger and frustration out on Obama and the DNC, not Hillary.
When will Hillary stop paying the price for what the patriarchy, in its infinite wisdom, did to the democratic party?
Hillary cares about her debt, but she likely cares more about her future as it pertains to who moves into the White House in 09.
You probably don’t want to hear this, but the best way to get rid of the ‘patriarchy’ you hate, is to vote Republican down the ticket. The whole country would benefit to be rid of Pelosi, Reid and therefore Dean.
Clinton Fan says:
“There are few times I wish this forum had an IGNORE feature–this is one of them. You should take your GOP loving ass off to the RNC, you’d be happier there, I suspect.”
Doesn’t this sound like an Obot troll?
… and no, thank you, think I’ll stick around. I love NQ, the best anti-Obama site on the internet.
What you should do is get your sorry ass off to the place where Dean, Pelosi and Reid rule. Not here.
Till,
You best stick around!
Thanks, moon-person.
Mccain/palin still do accept money. It does go to them for a compliance fund. For travel and it goes to mccain’s victory pac.
All for his campaign and grassroots.
So he does accept money and it does go to him.
I would love to help hillary but i donate over 200 dollars to her which was alot to me.
I have to work getting mccain elected. My money i would rather send to him and the rnc to punish the dems and bring down the evil empire Reid and nanyc built.
HEY, with everything Hillary has done and is doing for Backtrack Obama, where is he on paying off her debt might I ask?
Ohhhh wait, I forgot, BB expects everyone to do and give for HIM, but he doesn’t believe in helping anyone but himSELF.
I supported and campaigned for Hillary during the primary. I donated to her campaign. I, like Hillary and many of her supporters, suffered through the sexism and abuse thrown by the Obama camp.
While I understand the political realities of Hillary standing behind Obama, it still troubles me. It is difficult to write another check to Hillary because all I can think is that she supports Obama, who is sexist and misogynist.
Obama and Obama’s Democratic Party will never, NEVER help Hillary. She will be blamed if he loses, and never be credited if he wins.
if i actually new where my money was going i might decide to give…have given in the past when she was running and when she was forced to quit hussein was going to fix it for her…well he sure did huh? so as of then i have not given to any party but i will vote for mccain..
Wow so few posts on this thread to actually help Hillary. Wonder why? Could it be that the VAST VAST majority of people posting on this blog are just trying to incite dem on dem violence and they hate Hil with a passion? I think so.
You are wrong and are trying to incite violence by such a posting.
Shame on you.
I gave yesterday, but I didn’t understand the $20.12 figure at first–just not thinking. I trust Hillary’s political instints way more than my own. I will continue to help her, though she is working for O. I think that is part of her strategy. Remember, if we want something in 2012, she will also need some of the bots behind her–especially the latter liberal type.
You mean that debt isn’t retired yet? Why not?
To hear you PUMAs tell it, Sen. Clinton was the choice of a majority of Democratic voters. Why, then, are they leaving her in the lurch?
Unless, of course, they realize that Hillary knew the “delegate math” was insurmountable… yet she continued to spend millions. She made that choice. Now she wants her supporters to bail her out? And she wants Obama’s supporters to pitch in?
Nope, sorry, ma’am. My spare dollars are going to Brave New PAC.
Who are you to criticize anyone. You pose as an AA.
Does anybody know how much is still missing? I remember that a PUMA guy once claimed that they were close to settling her debt. What happened?
I wonder if Obama has held his finger in the wind long enough.
Senator Clinton’s road ahead will be a difficult one.
I was a late supporter of Hillary after Edwards dropped out. I came to respect and appreciate her as a woman and skilled politician. But I will not support anyone who is actively campaigning to get Obama elected. My monetary support goes to the only team that can keep Obama out of the WH. Go, McCain/Palin.
I was a supporter of Edwards, because I did not want a Clinton “dynasty” and thought his health care policy was the best. Well, we saw how that turned out! He obviously knew for a long time that he would have to get out of the race and cravenly collaborated with BO to cause the mess in Fla. & Mich. Meanwhile, my respect for HRC was growing with every bashing that she took. I used to wonder how she could get up in the morning and face another day of the misogyny and hate. Plus, there was no avoiding the fact that she was the smartest, best prepared candidate. Having seen what she went through, can you imagine what she would face going back to the senate if she did not appear to back her party’s (illegitamate) candidate? She is out there because she has more power that Kennedy,Kerry and Edwards combined. Why? Because of all of us who have told the DNC where to go. I don’t believe she is unaware that whatever she says will not change our minds. I chose her as my candidate later than many, but I am not going to jump ship now.
I have faith that she knows more than I about the machinations of the Democratic party. I don’t feel obliged to send any money to retire her debt, because I feel sure she knew what she was getting into at the start of the primaries, and can recoup the loss one way or another. (Perhaps a book, “How BO cheated his way to defeat”?). IMHO, the best thing she can do is be visible – as, for example, giving that terrific speech on the financial mess we are in. Every time she is seen, whatever she says, she is pointing out the fact that she is the one that should be the nominee. I don’t believe that many people will be converted into obots by her presence during the campaign. In fact, if they are like some of her ex backers posting here, they will be less likely to vote for BO than ever. HRC knows that in politics it is always “never say never”, and she is a consummate politician. If you are going to have a hissy fit when she acts like one then you may as well vote for whichever post-racial, post-political, post-whatever fraud that comes along.
Nope wont give another dime to Hillary, my last donation was the winning t-shirt but no more. I don’t see the Kennedy’s, the Kerry’s, or Edwards plugging for Obama all over the place, but Hillary is.
All the people who were so vocal during the primaries as to why Hillary should not win or be Obama’s VP how come they are not on the road, or talking to the media as to how wonderful Obama is? but Hillary is
So no not one dime, if she took a stand and let Obama run his own race because if the shoe was on the other foot Obama and Michelle was not coming out there to fix the black vote for Hillary am 100% sure of that, so nope no more money for Hillary.
I agree. I gave one donation to help retire her debt before she started rallying for Obama. No more.
My son lives in NYC, but cant afford a ticket to the Hillary benefit on Monday. I would have been happy to buy him a ticket. But he is on the fence over Obama, so I would be afraid that someone at the affair may be serving koolade.. Hillary needs to cease and desist any furthur stumping for The One.
Buy him a book on BO’s stinky lies instead.
With so much time and effort Hillary has been giving to the campaign of Obama, how come she is not getting any financial help from him?
Something is very wrong here.
Maybe she should ask McCain to help her instead. Maybe McCain will try and help her retire her debt. She is not getting anywhere with Obama.
Hillary has been doing all she can to counter the popularity of Sarah Palin and convince all who voted for her to support Obama. Unfortunately, she is not getting any help from either Obama or the DNC. What is happening here?
The devotion of Hillary to DNC and Obama seem to be a story out of a Barry Manilow song.
Please Sen Clinton, wake up! Country above party.
I have also contributed a lot to Hillary to a point where my wife is keeping my credit card away from me.
I am slowly getting dismayed be Hillary’s actions lately. He is so devoted to Obama and DNC in spite of the fact that she knows who the real Obama is.
Sen Clinton, please rise above politics and support the best person for the country. Country above party!
I’m totally baffled by this debt. How much is it?
Why is it a mystery? How much has been paid off since she suspended her campaign.
We were told that money given up to the DNC convention could be put toward her primary debt then
it was over for payment of that debt.
What is this money being requested being used for?
They said after the convention all money would go to
her 2012 senate or yet to be seen presidential race.
How much was raised by Pumas? What happened to Will
and his 6-10 million dollar assertion of money raised
for her debt?
Lots of questions asked over and over again and no
answer. I went on that fec.gov site and there was
no record of me donating $200 to her campaign. Wonder
why?
The invitation came too late for me to make arrangements, but I have been sending her $$ and plan to continue. I sure wish I could be there. She’s my hero. Like everybody else here, I love her
Oh – ’scuse me – you DON’T love her? Well I do and I’ll keep helping her with the debt. She’s the one with the only people-based recovery plan, btw. The other plans are bank-based.
I just donated $25 to help retire Hillary’s debt. Before, I never felt sympathy or related to Hillary at all, but actually was turned off and was disgusted how she came across, as talking down as if the public should rely on elected leadership or government instead of carrying equal authority, responsibility and credit, in order to reduce dependence on government that invites bureaucracy, abuse and waste. I feel this is the first request for money that has truly been honest. So I wanted to recognize that and reward it. All the previous promises were meaningless to me of reforming health care by top-down legislation, which is backwards, where effective programs must be proven first by example before public policies and funding can follow from successful working models. Real solutions are built from the ground up. I doubt Hillary has truly known what it is like to struggle to rebuild from below zero, until she took this incredible loss and blow to her ego. It is terrible to suffer in a position of feeling unjustly denied votes that would have won her the nomination, while portrayed negatively in the media to emphasize the worst perceptions while ignoring her best strengths, but then having to endorse someone she must resent whom the media plays up as a favorite while glossing over faults, which they would not do for her. That is a lot to forgive and a real challenge to anyone’s faith in justice and the policial process. It is painful, and I do not envy her, though it is good for her as a person to be humbled this way, or else God would not have her go through this setback. Though I can only afford to give in a small way, as I already have my own debts from lending to working women struggling with financial crisis, I still wanted to offer encouragement. It is never easy for anyone, even someone seen as strong and as powerful as Hillary, to recover from such a deeply disappointing and heartbreaking loss after being so certain, to give all that up and keep moving forward. Best wishes to Hillary and all supporters. I look forward to working with you to build programs that offer equal opportunity for women and minority leaders to prove their track records so they can run for public office on positive campaigns instead of relying on negative competition for money and power.
