“Are You Threatened BY Me?”

Today was the day that Senator Hillary Clinton and Governor Sarah Palin were to speak at the Anti-Iran Rally at the UN. As everyone knows by now, Senator Clinton decided not to speak once she learned Gov. Palin was going to be there, and then Gov. Palin was unceremoniously UN-invited to speak. Wowie zowie.

In the midst of all of this came an article by wcbstv.com, “Sources: Intense Pressure Led TO Palin UN Snub.” I am SO surprised to hear that, especially given the above-board manner (hahahaha) by which the Democrats have been acting this year – surely they would not force the Jewish groups holding this rally to rescind their invitation! Oh, but yes they would.

Below is the text of the article, but if you want to see a very good video on it, click the link above and there is one in the story:

Hillary Clinton won’t be speaking at Monday’s anti-Iran rally at the United Nations — and neither will Republican Sarah Palin or any other politicians for that matter.

The reason? A heated behind the scenes tug-of-war.

Sources tell CBS 2 HD that a decision to disinvite Palin from the high profile rally after Clinton pulled out in a huff came as the result of intense pressure from Democrats.

“This is insulting. This is embarrassing, especially to Gov. Palin, to me and I think it should be to every single New Yorker,” Assemblyman Dov Hikind, D-Brooklyn, told CBS 2 HD.

Sources say the axes were out for Palin as soon as Sen. Clinton pulled out because she did not want to attend the same event as the Republican vice presidential candidate.

“I have never seen such raw emotion — on both sides,” said someone close to the situation.

The groups sponsoring the rally against Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad speaking at the UN were reportedly told, “it could jeopardize their tax exempt status” if they had Palin and not Clinton or Democratic VP candidate Joe Biden on hand.

So all politicians were disinvited, most prominently, Palin.

“It’s an absolute shame that this has happened,” Hikind said. “To threaten organizations … to threaten the Conference of Presidents that if you don’t withdraw the invitation to Gov. Palin we’re going to look into your tax exempt status … that’s McCarthyism.”

Another Jewish group tried to step into the breach by inviting Palin to a different protest a day earlier.

“I’m absolutely appalled at the behavior of the Democrats,” said Bob Kunst of Defenders.net. “I’m a Democrat and for the first time in my life I’m going to vote Republican. I can’t take it anymore.”

As for Sen. Clinton, she brushed right past CBS 2 HD’s Lou Young when he tried to ask her about the issue on Thursday night.

Lou Young: “Were the organizers of Monday’s rally right to depoliticize it?”

Clinton walked past Young, said “Thank you all very much” and started hugging people.

Clinton’s people tell CBS 2 HD she intends to make some statement of support for the protestors. She is also expected to attack Ahmadinejad’s pro-nuke, anti-Israel stance.

Since Gov. Palin was uninvited, she made her remarks available to the New York Sun, if you care to read her remarks.

Here is the LINK to Senator Clinton’s letter to the organizers of the Anti-Iran Rally (damn, I miss hearing this woman, and how I wish she had spoken at this event regardless of Gov. Palin being there. That is just SO Un-Hillary-like. Gee, what are the chances that SHE got the hard-sell, too? I’m gonna bet 100%. Any takers?)

I don’t know when this became the DNC. I really don’t. This, along with all of the other immoral, unethical actions by the DNC this campaign season(previously listed about a gazillion times), along with the news about the source of the Palin rumors, now documented to be an orchestrated event (and covered by Easten McNeal at No Quarter), and one well connected to Obama and the DNC, just boggles the mind. Now, I realize I may have been very naive about the DNC and how it REALLY operates – I know I was shocked to learn that two people in Chuck Schumer’s office created a false credit report as a way to discredit Michael Steele (former Lt. Gov. of MD) just two years ago. But how could it get to this place?

Well, here we are, and where we are is a political party that strong-arms private groups to do its bidding. Great. Never mind that it was a GOOD CAUSE, one about which both Senator Clinton and Governor Palin feel strongly. Never mind that it would have given more POSITIVE coverage to those groups and their issue – the potential problems with Iran in terms of Israel. Now, the “disinvite” is being seen for what it is – and what it is ain’t pretty. Way to go, DNC – winning the hearts and minds of anyone who thinks bullying is the answer. And who is threatened by having two powerful women anywhere in the same vicinity of each other (oh my gosh – a CATfight could break out!! Or, NOT – and that would be WORSE, right?!?). Or is it that the DNC knows people will look at these two women, and know that HILLARY should be on the top of the ticket and not Obama? That SHE is the one who would have made the selection of Gov. Palin a non-starter? Yeah, that sounds about right to me. How about you?

Just amazing – Clinton gets smeared as a racist, and HE’S the one charged with going negative.

This travesty that is Obama and his thugs must lose this election to set things right.

It is time people on this site decide what this site is going to be all about.

My desire to have obama brutally destroyed by any means cannot be questioned. I have advocated nothing less than going nuclear on obama. I have never tried to talk anybody out of getting down and dirty against obama.

yet the same people that try to discredit my message of destroying obama, by calling me a troll, are the same people that will also tell you to be mellow and take it easy on obama.

I AM SICK OF THIS SHIT.

PEOPLE ON THIS SITE NEED TO TREAT THIS LIKE THIS IS WAR.

THESE UNDERCOVER BOTS LIKE FRED MCBERFLE, BENNY, REPUBLICAN CHICK that come on this site and try to discredit everyone that wants to destry obama, and at the same time advocate the kids gloves for obama are ruining this site.

Hey JM, were you not the same person who was saying in the previous thread that Hillary Clinton has not a chance of coming back in 2012 due to “Clinton Fatigue” I’m sorry but from the comments I have recently read of yours, you seem to be the one who wants to not only see Obama tossed on the third rail but the entire Democratic party.

I hate Obama and Co. as well as the Democratic Leadership, but I still believe in core Democratic principals. I want to take my party back from these assholes.

In the prior thread you did nothing but parrot right-wind talking points about the Clintons. I think you are the troll pal!!

Comment by Geoff | 2008-09-22 19:16:01

I think Clinton has a good chance to win in 2012 if McCain wins. No way he goes two terms, and she’ll probably eek out Palin because the next four years are going to be tough years to run on

Comment by jennie | 2008-09-22 20:14:51

yeah, that dude is dead in 4 years

Comment by Maverick | 2008-09-22 20:27:31

I’m so baffled. If Hillary was 17 delegates apart from Obama but they kicked her out, how does that translate into a run for her in 2012? I just do not see it. It’s not like she lost and needs to try again. She was kicked to the curb and her rival was ‘gifted’ the nomination.

Comment by Carolyn Mann | 2008-09-22 20:53:46

In my humble opinion, the only way Clinton will rebound and gain the nomination in 2012 is if two events occur:

1. McCain wins big in 2008.

2. Republican downticket candidates also win big in 2008.

These two happenings will be seen as a complete and total repudiation of the current Democratic leadership and present an opportunity for centrists to retake the party. Barring a total rout by the Republicans, your doubts will prove to be prescient.

Comment by politicsIsdirty | 2008-09-22 21:17:49

You have to add that if McCain wins, the Democratic party will again be Clinton’s party not Obama. Then there will be a change of leadership. Dean will bow out as the head of DNC and Pelosi will lose her clout together with people like Donna Brazille.

Comment by Ferd McBerfle | 2008-09-22 21:24:01

McCain winning is the only key. HRC tried to tell the DNC that Oblockhead was unelectable. When he loses, so do the miscreants that put that bobblehead there in the first place. When I vote for McCain, I am getting twice the bang for my vote. And Brazile is toast, too.

This site was never an “action” site. For that you should go to one of the PUMA websites. There are also quite a few “Nobama” websites out there that might be more aggressive in the way that you want.

I’m trying to be helpful by posting this, not dismissing your concerns. Frankly, I think that we should all be voting McCain to keep Obama out of the White House but not everyone here has the same philosophy on that. This is not a coalition with one mission but a blog.

Comment by bemused | 2008-09-22 19:37:24

Anne,

To address the subject of this article:
I’m glad Palin was disinivited, because that freed her up to attend the rally yesterday in Delaware County. The event was well attended, and McCain was presented with a tribute motorcycle by the American Chopper guys.

Since PA is a battleground, her presence at a rally was more important IMO.

It disturbs me yet again that you have failed to make mention or note of the author’s article. There is a lot of work and effort that go into providing enlightening and thought provoking articles like the ones posted by Rev. Amy and Truthteller.

Since you have put out the accusation that Ferd, Benny, myself, and others are Obots, the burden is yours to prove that we are indeed Obots. Links backed up by facts.

I called you out specifically because you have more of a tendency to stay off topic and throw temper tantrums.

You remind me of the Obots that continue to tell people they’re racists if they don’t vote for Obama. Like your statements calling us Obots, the Obots calling out people as ‘racist’—doesn’t make it more true or factual.

An aside, it isn’t your site. How Larry and Susan decide to run this site is their business–not yours or mine.

Now have the decency to acknowledge the hard work, effort, and thoughtfulness of Rev. Amy’s article.

Sadly, the Democrat elites playe dpolitics with this, and prevented two strong, outspoken women from shining a light on this very important issue.

I am glad to see that those A-holes exposed for the threats against the Jewish groups that forced the disinvite of Sarah Palin.

It would have been great to have both Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin speaking on this issue front and center. A missed opportunity for sure.

Comment by TexasBuckeye | 2008-09-22 21:25:33

How many missed opportunies have we women had over the years because we chose to go along to get along? As a woman, I’m disgusted that two intelligent women were pushed out of this event for political reasons and there is no outrage about it in the MSM.

Having worked in corporate American for 15+ years, I’ve made the decision a few times to go along in order to keep my project funded because I knew that ultimately that project was going to significantly help the company and thus our customers. Doing so turned out to be at the expense of my own career. When push came to shove, they knew that they could push hard enough for me to cave “for the sake of the company.”

I don’t understand anymore why Hillary is going along with these vote-stealing thugs. I’ll have to take a hard look at this when all of the information is in.

Our Hillary is definitely not herself these days. And ‘our’ (my former) party disappoints as well. So many years ago, I heard Candidate or President Bill Clinton carefully explain the differences between Republicans and Democrats. He said: Republicans are ‘Party First’. Democrats ‘think’. Well. Was he wrong? Or did things change?

Comment by Astra14 | 2008-09-22 19:21:51

“The groups sponsoring the rally against Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad speaking at the UN were reportedly told, “it could jeopardize their tax exempt status” if they had Palin and not Clinton or Democratic VP candidate Joe Biden on hand.”

Somewhere something has seriously changed and I’m not liking it. Hillary was invited and for what ever her reasons (I’m thinking she didn’t want to give the media the chance to fake a show of Hillary vs Palin) she backed out. I don’t understand then why the disinvite for Palin. That makes no sense to me – why threaten the tax exempt status just because one politician was going to be there? It was a rally, what’s the big deal? What, Obama and the media didn’t get their catfight? Hillary isn’t running for President or Vice President so how can she be considered on the same page as Sarah or Biden?

Comment by SJ | 2008-09-22 19:29:12

I took a look at Palin’ speech that she was going to give at that rally, she was clear and precise in what was needed to be done against Iran, unfortunately I also saw Hillary’s speech and in it Hillary played politics not saying too much or committing herself to direct action.

That is one thing am I starting to like about Palin she say exactly what is on her mind and have to fear as to how the media views it or not.

Comment by elise | 2008-09-22 20:42:49

SJ could you post a link to those speeches? I didn’t know they had been released.

Comment by DeeLee | 2008-09-22 19:45:01

Why should they worry about their tax-free status?
Rev.Wright’s church was theatened with that after he blatantly preached politics and he came out of it without so much as a reprimand.

Obama was invited to one of those types of rallies (anti-war) where he gave his “famous” restaged speech and used as a political platform and there was’nt a peep about tax-free status being compromised.

Sounds to me like Hillary didn’t want to share this event w Sarah Palin either because she’s a woman or a Republican or both. If Hillary is trying to preserve a run in 2012 by sniffing Obama’s ass, this won’t help her. Sarah was gracious and gave Hillary a big nod at her VP announcement. She should have attended for the sake of the meaning behind it. If someone from Obambi’s campaign strong armed her then shame on her for not saying go to hell. She should have done that weeks ago.

Comment by LogicallySpeaking | 2008-09-22 19:22:18

I think it was a smart move on Hillary’s part to not attend.

Comment by wodiej | 2008-09-22 19:39:24

you are entitled to your opinion, I disagree. She has offered no reason for backing out. If it was legitimate and reasonable, she should have said so.

Comment by Dr. Kate | 2008-09-22 22:09:40

The media would have made it about Hillary v Palin, not the event, which is a worthy one.

Then any kind of handshake or collaboration between the two would be seen as “evidence Hillary is not supporting Barack”.

If it was about inviting VP candidates, Biden should have been there. If it was about inviting exiting women leaders, there are others that could have been tapped.

HRC smelled a trap. She was right to do this. She is not going to make this election about her. It’s about Barack.

Comment by tampagurl | 2008-09-22 22:31:36

Wodiej,
What you need to remember is that Hillary is a Democrat and she hasn’t attacked Sarah, nor has Bill.

They have actually been very gracious to both Sarah and John. She was put in a very difficult position by the joint appearance.

She is trying not to be Obama’s tool but she cannot appear to be supporting John and Sarah either.

Why can’t you except that and not look a gift horse in the mouth? Hillary doesn’t owe the Republicans anything.

Comment by DeeLee | 2008-09-22 19:52:36

Comment by ritamary | 2008-09-22 19:53:10

I agree Hillary should not have attended. No matter what happened at the event the corporate media would try to spin it into something negative. The two women the media likes to trash most at the same event! And the Obamacrats certainly would hate these two women taking the spotlight away from Dear Leader.

Comment by bemused | 2008-09-22 20:17:00

Yes, some purposes were served by her staying away, and others would have been served by her going, I expect she took her path for good reasons.

If she and Palin had both gone, somehow I think that would have been more than a certain fascist candidate could have taken. Imagine, two strong popular women on stage getting ovations! Ooh that would hurt. I bet he pulled strings on both sides to keep them from looking good together.

Comment by POdVet | 2008-09-22 19:35:29

It’s not as easy as all of that unfortunately. Hillary has to walk a fine line right now to preserve her integrity and maintain herself for 2012. She must outwardly back Obama or get screwed by the corrupt leadership of the DNC until we vote those ass clowns out of office. She also can not smack Gov Palin around right now. Face it, against Hillary, Palin would lose and lose badly. But Palin is better than Obama! So if Clinton were to resoundingly embarrass Palin, she would be effectively making Obama seem better then lose all chance at the White House in 2012. We can deal with McCain for four years, but should the anointed one win…I think we would see Republican Presidents from 2012-2024 atleast. The same as happened after Carter! You get a true incompetent in the White House, and the country doesn’t forgive you for a long time. Thats why this year should have been a slam dunk for Democrats, but the DNC was determined to screw it up.

Comment by ritamary | 2008-09-22 20:07:41

Yes I absolutely agree with you. If Obama wins things are going to be so screwed up the country will not elect another Democrat for many years.

I keep wondering if the Democrats are planning on having a Bush-Cheney kind of presidency for Obama-Biden. You know, where Bush keeps the responsibilities he likes doing like throwing out the first baseball of the season, meeting the Super Bowl winners, making the Christmas video (with Barney of course), etc. Then Bush delegates his powers to Cheney to do everything he doesn’t want to be bothered with.

Comment by elise | 2008-09-22 21:04:41

wodie, did you see Hillary’s speech to the congress on the economy last week? I have a reason for this question and it is relevant to your comment and you may not like what I have to say. Hillary shines! In the primary debates, she was the focus of every one’s attention even if some of it was negative. If Hillary had agreed and made that speech, it would have been devastating for Gov. Palin. I want McCain to win this election and I like Gov. Palin. In a face to face meeting with Hillary, and have to give a competing speech, could not be good for Palin.

The only real question is why Hillary Clinton refused to appear as she has gone to this event several times before. Why doesn’t she want to appear at the same event as Sarah Palin? Politicians of different parties appear together at some events…Bill Clinton is having John McCain as his opening speaker at his forum. What is going on?

Comment by Clinton Fan | 2008-09-23 00:02:14

Because it isn’t HER JOB to be Palin’s alter ego, that’s why.

Rather than disinvite Palin, they should have invited BIDEN.

It’s not Clinton’s PROBLEM, see? She’s out of it.

She has to “support the party ticket” but she doesn’t have to hang her ass out for Obama.

There are LIMITS. She drew the line, and good for her.

Comment by Buck O'Fama | 2008-09-22 19:21:16

Obama and the DNC have repeated demonstrated that nothing is beneath them in their quest for power; hell, they rigged the nomination process itself to provide the result they wanted, what makes anyone think they are not above collaborating with a foreign power if that’s what it takes? These people will stop at nothing.

Comment by lark | 2008-09-22 19:21:23

I agree. And also it denotes a sexist denominator of the proportional relationship.
Palin/Sexism = Subservitude/Silence Women

Solve the problem

Palin X Silence Women / Subservitude = 1 / Sexism

where 1 / Sexism = Misogamy

Comment by Geoff | 2008-09-22 19:26:41

I agree CNN is in Obama’s pocket, but less than NBC, more than ABC. Still, its a number above 50 – only Newsweek before now…..scary….Obama could actually freaking win. I feel like a tiny voice in an ocean of America that will have no effect in stopping Obama because of the media bias.

Take the ad on McCain’s typing, because of his disability, that Obama made fun of. I hit Politico and Tapper hard to report it, and they finally did, but not in hard enough terms to make it a story.

Another example is the SS lie (showing up in CNN numbers with senior move to Obama) and the Rush race baiting ad.

Comment by Hillary or Bust | 2008-09-22 19:30:06

I’m concerned that the ABC hack editing of Palin’s first interview hurt as well as the economic meltdown. I’m hoping this will be rectified in the debates.

Comment by lark | 2008-09-22 19:58:47

I don’t think the Debates will help McCain. There has to be a relentless attack in October as see if something sticks to Obama. Otherwise, I don’t know.

But I would stay with Palin. I think she will beat Obama in October.

Comment by richasis | 2008-09-22 20:39:11

Comment by candymarl | 2008-09-22 19:22:45

It’s a shame it’s come to this. Instead of various politicians speaking out on the issues it’s definitely become the “politics of fear and smear” to quote John Kerry.

Now the fear is: vote for Obama or be branded a racist. Or: Palin will force you all to have children and overturn Roe v Wade. That would make Palin more powerful than Cheney. Even he didn’t pull that off. Pretty good for Palin, a woman that has been painted as an air head powder puff.

If the DNC has this much clout without the election of their hand-picked candidate imagine what they’ll do if they get the WH.

The DNC does realize that the Jewish vote carries a lot of weight in NY state. So what are they trying to do here? Kill two birds with one stone?

Alienate the Jewish vote from Clinton and take down Palin? Pretty stupid. They just helped put that voting block in the Republican column.

Comment by Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy | 2008-09-22 20:28:56

Comment by elise | 2008-09-22 21:14:42

Comment by scorbs | 2008-09-22 19:23:41

I would have loved to see these two talented women who happen to be, politicians. Unfortunately, I know with the horrendous misogyny in the press and elsewhere we’ve seen, it’s hard to face an event that the media would try to turn into a cat fight, but it would be, and will be at some point in the future, to see the two of them together discussing their ideas.

I loved hearing Hillary discussing the current chaos in financial markets. She’s the only one who addressed it wholistically by stating that a systemic fix was needed, that got at the roots of the problem. No one else has said that, nor given ideas how you do that.

John McCain and Obama are off in left field, Obama, worst of all.

Comment by Eastan McNeal | 2008-09-22 19:24:47

RRRA. Did you ever find a quote directly from Hillary stating why she backed out of this event. I am still at a loss for an understanding why this fighter would back down from any stage. Did the announcement that she would not show with Palin come from the Obama campaign, or is there an official Hillary statement?

I have not seen one.

Comment by Astra14 | 2008-09-22 19:30:03

I would really like to know why, too.

Comment by Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy | 2008-09-22 20:56:18

Howard Wolfson said today that the reason Hillary backed out was that she thought it was only an elected official thing, not candidates. Once she found that out, she thought it was inappropriate for the two of them to be there, or something like that. And that the organizers didn’t want it to be partisan, thus the uninviting of Palin (never mind that the Obama camp said they were going to send someone).

Yeah, the anchors didn’t buy it, either.

Previously, she said, or her people did, that she was blindsided by this. But still – as I have said, she has consistently played well with others, so her refusal to appear on stage with Palin just seemed so out of character to me.

Comment by kcfromtx | 2008-09-22 21:14:30

Russia is sending a Naval squadron to Venezuela, let’s keep the puppet show vs. Iran going on instead.

If you want to flip the model, get in w/Iran now to hedge Russia. Their development facilitates our development of buffer zones in east Europe for Rummy’s missile shield, which is a also a slap to Putin.

Iran is already friends w/China, a direct result of George Snubya Bush’s cajoling the West into a cold shoulder regarding Iran. Since the Chinese treasury owns us thanks to Dubya’s tax cuts for billionaires maybe you’d better pay attention to who calls the shots and with what money it is done.

We could triangulate Iran vs. our own client states Israel and Saudi Arabia to keep business as usual for the MIC and still have added gain of isolating Al Qaeda to new levels regarding the regional ally that is teetering at this time, Pakistan.

Iran distrusts Al Qaeda, get with them to take away a large swath of influence on the tribal frontier.

The ability to challenge these non state actors by talking amenably with state actors could help reshape some of the most dangerous short term tracks we have going.

Peg benchmarks to reparations for the two state solution. This could create the capital necessary to reinforce the banking infrastructure that has taken major hits from the Chalabi type gutting of countries there, and America’s own system on its subprime charade.

Doing this interactively could restore some of the dollar’s influence. Iran is the major player, we set up Iraq with the Shi’ite majority. If the states are Balkanized we are alienating Turkey and the House of Saud. You’re more likely to dilute Shi’ite their power in a federated republic by tagging benchmarks there as well.

This would require setting new standards for the major players involved. Arabia for the Shi’ite, Israel for Palestinians, Syria for several elements, Iraq for the Sunni and Kurds, Iran for the Kurds in exchange for agreed development and tactical assistance in the tribal regions, this would further narrow the non state concerns of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Would it work to full extent? Doubtful, but it is a start and it will accelerate development and scale economies. Doing nothing would accomplish far less.

Everyone will get something out of it. The collateral effects are immeasurably efficient from a cost benefit perspective. The East/West divide could be bridged, or develop economic beachheads established(wage pre emptive trade, not pre emptive war). This type of market penetration could pattern exemplify what is needed in the OAS and elsewhere also, and carry along numerous intelligence opportunities within it that would see us have to expand the IC to meet such a demand and prevent counteroperative penetration’s effectiveness.

I have faith in Senator Clinton and President Clinton. If Senator Clinton had to back out of this event I imagine she received the same pressure from the DNC and Obama as did the Jewish group holding the conference. I don’t care what anybody says, unless I hear it from her mouth, I will believe she was pressured into backing out by the DNC and Obama. And Oh My God, who believes anything CNN says or anything that the mass news media says? Duh? They have been in the tank for Obama including O’Reilly being soft on Obama. Hannity is the only one trying to get some truth out. Even Lou Dobbs is going after both candidates instead of pounding out what he ALREADY knows about Obama just like O’Reilly. Of course, Lou does work for CNN so it adds up. Don’t let people distort who Senator Clinton is, believe in her, she cannot tell you what is going on right now.

Comment by Ferd McBerfle | 2008-09-22 20:20:47

It is called politics. She is a democrat and did make the commitment to help whoever the candidate was at the beginning of the primaries/caucuses. And unlike most politicians, who are about as able to keep a commitment as they are to keep spending in check, she kept her word. If she didn’t keep her word, she would never be able to make any headway towards the nomination in 2012

That’s the “needs to” part.

As to the “who says” part. That isn’t an answerable question.

What you want is for her to fall on her sword. That’s fine so long as you fall on yours first. This election is no longer about HRC. If that isn’t clear to you, I do not know what else to tell you.

That is the danger when she is out there giving out these dam Hillary sent me buttons, begging people to vote for him, we all know there are those that will.

For those of us who don’t want to see Obama near the WH we cannot accept what Hillary is doing, some say she has to I don’t feel so, am sure she is aware that she will encourage some people to change their vote, so if that is not her intent.

If she does not want him to win then she could of sit this out, there is no alliance to Obama, Hillary is doing this because and I know you all hate to hear this but it is because she wants to.

I just heard an Oblahblah ad that lasted about 2 minutes and in every which way Oblahblah was more McCain than McCain. If I had only the text I would think it was McCain. And I know that by Friday, OBlahblah will complete his transformation. McCain will be totally confused. He’ll say, ‘I vote for Oblahblah because he just read from my script.’ I call that the Hillary strategy. Obama is a pathological liar and his technique is ‘the chameleon.’

Now then, will Hillary continue to be for Oblahblah after Friday?

Trust me–she HAS TO do what she is doing.

She will not get party backing four years from now if she doesn’t back the nominee.

That’s the way it works. She can’t demand party loyalty in four years if she doesn’t exhibit it NOW.

You have to THINK FOR YOURSELF now. Clinton is out of the race, your choice has to come from your own review of the remaining candidates–not from Clinton telling you who to vote for…she HAS to do that. Only someone not paying attention doesn’t realize that she’s gritting her damned teeth when she “endorses” that presumptuous nominee.

Everyone has lost all respect for her. She has no credibility. Wasnt the theme of her campaign was that she will fight for you.

Well she did the opposite. She looks weak, easily manipulated, and nothing more than a little weak pawn in obamas game.

Seriously, she is becoming quickly irrelevant in the political scene.

She made a terrible miscalculation when she decided to throw her lot in with the messiah

Comment by Hillary or Bust | 2008-09-22 19:43:09

I’m not happy with her backing Obama, but I think she was in a “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” position. Remember, at the time of her concession, the mainstream media and Keith Olbermann were foaming at the mouth over her in the way they are now about Palin. Hillary was being branded a nutjob for pressing her case. She was likened to Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction.

Given that she did NOT have the party behind her (like Palin does), I don’t think Hillary could have easily gone off on her own to fight this.

I’m still not thrilled, I’m not giving her a pass either, I’m just saying I remember how horrible the atmosphere was towards her and this is the only way she got hte media to shut up about her and focus on something else.

I did work very hard for Hillary and I don’t regret it for one minute and I understand that she is in a political squeeze with O’Bambi but enough is enough. I don’t think he has been generous in her campaign debts either. She needs to ease away from this loser. Sadly, I had to unsubscribe today. I just couldn’t bear to see or hear any more of her words supporting that jerk.

I agree. If she wasn’t supporting Obama I would cut her some slack. But I find no reasonable excuse for this given how extremely dangerous and unqualified Obama is. The welfare of us and our country is at stake. I know alot of people want to excuse that and that is their right. But I just can’t. I admire her run for President, and I too do not regret in helping. But I will not help her get Obama in office.

Hillary won the Primary. She was just 17 delegates away from being tied. She bailed. Whatever. I’m voting for Moose shooting mamma and her harley davidson. That’s final.

wodie, you would “cut her some slack”? Generous of you. I may have to leave this blog which was, when I first came here, a pro-Hillary site. My choice is either stay home or vote for McCain. I’m pretty sure Hillary won’t be on the ballot, but I guess until the day she dies, everything will be her fault and she will be responsible for not fixing all the problems. I TRUST HER AND I HOPE SHE ALWAYS DOES WHAT SHE THINKS RIGHT. She would have, IMO, outshone Gov Palin with her speech and knowledge. Someone set this situation up and whoever did was trying to use Hillary and my bet is on Obama. Who invited both and for what reason? To protest Iran’s nuclear program? I don’t think so because this has obviously gotten more press than the protest. I didn’t hear anything other than a few seconds of a speech and the entire thing has turned into a political fight. Leave Hillary the hell alone!!!!!!!!!

Comment by Clinton Fan | 2008-09-23 00:18:29

Elise, I’m still PRO-HILL, and I have my eye on the prize four years from now.

McCain is a PLACE HOLDER, nothing more.

You’ve got some rabid Republicans who’ve come on in here and they’re overreaching a bit–it’s turning me off a bit, too. I don’t like the shitty remarks about liberals (I’m a liberal–I like social programs, being nice to old people, sick people, kids, that kind of thing) and I don’t appreciate a lot of the broad-brushed trashing of progressive causes. I simply think Obama is a cretinous idiot who is NOT a liberal–in fact, he’s a duplicitious little toad who will do and say anything to win. He has no center, no core, no set of established values. He’ll throw grandma, the gays, and anyone who’s “inconvenient” under that “Bullshit Express” bus of his.

I’m also a fan of a cohesive national security policy, and that’s why I am a CLINTON FAN. She “gets” international relations–Obama does not.

And for these reasons, McCain will “do”–he’s preferable to Obama, but neither one of them can hold a candle to Clinton.

So I’ll WAIT. Four more damned years….

Comment by elise | 2008-09-23 01:03:02

I’m in complete agreement, Clinton Fan, that Obama simply would be dangerous in the White House. When anyone makes a comment blaming Hillary, I always wonder what the agenda is since they claim to be former supporters. I don’t mind McCain’s campaign reaching out to us. It’s nice to feel my vote matters after being told by the DNC they can win without the Democratic base, which I guess isn’t really the base anymore since this is a different party than the one I supported for so many years. I have no doubt Hillary will RISE above all of it with more power than before and will be able to accomplish even more after this election is over and done. When I am angry, I try to think about the day the Senate convenes for the first time in 2009. Obama and Biden will still be there and John McCain will be sitting in the Oval Office. How do you think he is going to react to the idea of being the junior senator from ILL for another four years? Maybe he will resign!!!!!!!

Comment by Snickers | 2008-09-23 03:36:54

Clinton Fan and Elise, I agree with both you. Hillary has to do what she must to survive, politically, and be viable next go around. That’s a political reality. I’m much angrier with the organizations, my favorite NOW, and the others, and feminists like Gloria Steinem coming out in support of this Fraud. Has he somehow metamorphosed into a butterfly? I don’t think so. He’s still a corrupt Chicago Pol. I hope there are enough of us who will vote McCain/Palin to win them the White House.

Rev. Amy, thanks for the article and update about what was going on behind the scenes.

Again, I noticed the first line of defense was to blame Hillary Clinton due to Gov. Palin’s disinvitation. However, from other news sources I’ve read the Obama/Biden camp wasn’t going to send anyone and Hillary wasn’t going to be there on their behalf. She was going to be there, as she’s been in the past, as a NY Senator. I think some people seem to forget that she’s still a Senator from NY.

I have noticed both Gov. Palin and Senator Clinton have gone out of their way to not be antagonist or critical of the other. Again, Hillary is in a very bad position. John McCain has been there, done that before.

Hillary is damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t. She doesn’t win either way with some people.

Hey, RC -

Absolutely, Hillary is between a rock and a hard place. I am pretty darn sure that SHE was not the one who threatened the tax exempt status of the organizations sponsoring the event to get Palin off.

That being said, it is unfortunate that the Senator from NY felt like she could not attend an event she had previously attended for whatever the reasons were…

And, from what I understand, she has been quite clear that she will NOT go after Palin. Good for her for drawing a line and sticking to it.

TERRORISTS, THUGS & THE TAXMAN:
JEWISH GROUP THREATENED WITH LOSS OF TAX EXEMPT STATUS OVER PALIN INVITE!

We all know the story.
Bad Man wants Nukes to Blow up the World.

Bad Man comes to United Nations to speak and promote his No Israel No Way No How platform.

Good People unite in a common goal and schedule a Rally and they invite their leaders to speak out against the Bad Man and His Bad Plan.

Partisan Politicking is supposed to take a backseat to Decency and the Desire for a Better Safer World for All.
So what went wrong?

Initial reports in the Main Stream Media astroturfed suggested that Clinton was blindsided and withdrew of her own accord and the decision to disinvite Governor Palin was made solely by the organization itself.

firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/09/18/1421633.aspx

Hillary Clinton, who cancelled her scheduled appearance at the event after learning of Palin’s plans to attend, had been confirmed months earlier. But Palin’s participation made the non-profit groups planning the event concerned they would lose their tax-exempt status, if only one party’s presidential or vice presidential candidate was invited to speak.
‘The IRS is very clear, Hillary Clinton does not equal Sarah Palin,’ the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity. ‘You have to have equal representation of candidates.’
The organizers reached out to the Obama campaign for the first time Wednesday morning, asking Joe Biden to speak to balance Palin, but in the end the decision was made to not allow political candidates at the event at all, the organizer said.
Organizers of the rally announced the decision today in a press release. ‘In order to keep the focus on Iranian threats and to ensure that this critical message not be obscured,’ noted the release, ‘the organizers of the rally have decided not to have any American political personalities appear.’

However, much to no one’s surprise it appears that there is more to this story and it won’t be covered by MSNBOC!

Sources: Intense Pressure Led To Palin UN Snub
CBS 2 HD Has Learned Democrats Threatened To Attack Jewish Groups’ Tax Exempt Status Over VP Nominee Invite

NEW YORK (CBS) ― Hillary Clinton won’t be speaking at Monday’s anti-Iran rally at the United Nations — and neither will Republican Sarah Palin or any other politicians for that matter.
The reason? A heated behind the scenes tug-of-war.
Sources tell CBS 2 HD that a decision to disinvite Palin from the high profile rally after Clinton pulled out in a huff came as the result of intense pressure from Democrats.
‘This is insulting. This is embarrassing, especially to Gov. Palin, to me and I think it should be to every single New Yorker,’ Assemblyman Dov Hikind, D-Brooklyn, told CBS 2 HD.
Sources say the axes were out for Palin as soon as Sen. Clinton pulled out because she did not want to attend the same event as the Republican vice presidential candidate.
‘I have never seen such raw emotion — on both sides,’ said someone close to the situation.
The groups sponsoring the rally against Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad speaking at the UN were reportedly told, ‘it could jeopardize their tax exempt status’ if they had Palin and not Clinton or Democratic VP candidate Joe Biden on hand.
So all politicians were disinvited, most prominently, Palin.
‘It’s an absolute shame that this has happened,’ Hikind said. ‘To threaten organizations . to threaten the Conference of Presidents that if you don’t withdraw the invitation to Gov. Palin we’re going to look into your tax exempt status . that’s McCarthyism.’

Another Jewish group tried to step into the breach by inviting Palin to a different protest a day earlier.
‘I’m absolutely appalled at the behavior of the Democrats,’ said Bob Kunst of Defenders.net. ‘I’m a Democrat and for the first time in my life I’m going to vote Republican. I can’t take it anymore.’
As for Sen. Clinton, she brushed right past CBS 2 HD’s Lou Young when he tried to ask her about the issue on Thursday night.
Lou Young: ‘Were the organizers of Monday’s rally right to depoliticize it?’
Clinton walked past Young, said ‘Thank you all very much’ and started hugging people.
Clinton’s people tell CBS 2 HD she intends to make some statement of support for the protestors. She is also expected to attack Ahmadinejad’s pro-nuke, anti-Israel stance.

Let’s be clear, Neither Senator Clinton nor Governor Palin was invited to give a speech on their candidacy or lack thereof, nor where they invited to discuss or promote their party positions or their party’s candidate for president. This was billed as a non-partisan event and all speakers would have understood that and respected that. It was not a campaign stop.

More troubling are the rumors beginning to swirl that Hillary was prepared to appear until The Obamassiah got in a tizzy over the potential for a Hillary / Palin appearance becoming a bigger news story than his latest waffle or Non-Plan for the Economy Plan that he told us he wasn’t going to tell us about. It appears that pressure was put on Senator Clinton behind the scenes and she was forced to back out.

The Little Known
On Tuesday 16 at noon all was well, I can confirm, and it continued well til about six pm. Everyone knew everything about Sarah Palin’s acceptance to attend with HRC. Details were being looked over about the VIP section and so forth. Then the sky changed. What was the weather? HRC changed her mind. Why? There is the challenge. Why would HRC change her opinion of the rally and Sarah Palin late on Tuesday 16?
(Choose one or more: 1. Envy? 2. Spite? 3. Campaign? 4. Sorcery? 5. Ideology? 6. Because?) After Mrs. Clinton did decide, however, everything else was a house of cards. That is when the Obama Team moved in with cut-outs. And there is reason to see that the Obama Team didn’t need to do much of anything other than sigh and fret, because there are passionate Jewish Democrats who were ready to get out front to protect their candidate from the challenge by this Alaskan witch. We do see that there is an entire Democratic Party in this country that wants to win and will behave like prickly French knights? The lawyer letters from the co-sponsors of the event to Malcolm Hoenlein on Wednesday 17 meant that either Joe Biden agreed to the event or the event was in trouble. Why did Joe Biden decline? I asked Eric Shawn to ask the FNC correspondent on the Biden plane to ask the candidate on Thursday morning. The answer came back negative. I ask again, why did Joe Biden decline? Because he is afraid of the fortress of live cameras that would have watched him greet Mrs. Palin on stage to the cheers of the throng? Because Joe Biden is publicity shy? Everyone gets to answer this minor puzzle alone. That was the end. Malcolm Hoenlein was forced either to cancel the rally or to cancel all politicians in order to disinvite Mrs. Palin. Rather than the lady, brave man, he chose the tiger.

And of course The Obama campaign Joe Biden summarily declined the invitation and subsequently, the Democrat party partisans who had floated the threat suggestion that the tax exempt status of the organization would be compromised and they would be investigated and could subsequently lose it if they did not disinvite Governor Palin were the winners of the day.
Now that leaks have spring from the left and right that the Organization was pressured and threatened and had no choice but to either disinvite Palin or suffer the wrath of the Democrats, HOTAIR points out that they might want to look at a few other organizations that should worry about their tax exempt status based on these interpretations of equal representation.

hotair.com/archives/2008/09/20/report-organizers-of-iran-rally-threatened-with-loss-of-tax-exempt-status-if-they-invited-palin/

NBC wrote about the tax-exemption issue two days ago but they made it sound like something the organizers had taken up of their own accord. Quote from an unnamed official involved: ‘The IRS is very clear, Hillary Clinton does not equal Sarah Palin. You have to have equal representation of candidates.’ You do? Here’s the speaker list from last year’s anti-Iran rally at the UN. Scott Garrett is a Republican congressman; as far as I know, every other pol on the list is a Democrat. As for the Obama camp’s role in this, John Batchelor, who’s pals with rally organizer Malcolm Hoenlein, hints here that they weren’t directly involved in the nastiness because, as usual, they had surrogates willing to do their dirty work for them. Fine. As I say: Let’s find out which Democratic lawyers, precisely, arrived at the very novel legal conclusion that inviting both parties to a rally to which only one party RSVPs amounts to politicking in breach of one’s tax exemption. And then let’s ask St. Barack why he couldn’t find one person on his side -apart from the guy who called Palin a Nazi sympathizer a few weeks ago, of course – willing to speak at this rally to ‘balance’ the ticket.

So in a nutshell, the two most influential women in the present political arena are invited to speak out at a rally and the partisan Obama demokRats take what should be a non-political non-partisan event and Politrick it into oblivion.

They pressure Senator Clinton to withdraw, and then threaten the loss of the tax-exempt status of the organization if they don’t offer ‘equal representation,’ however Joe Biden won’t be available as he has oh so many reporters on his plane demanding his attention that he just can’t possibly take time out of his busy schedule, and therefore either you get AUDITED and your Tax Exempt status revoked or you disinvite Governor Palin.

I keep coming back to the RSVP issue though, and the fact that this is not a political rally or event in the sense that speakers are coming to promote their own agenda and garner support for their election, but a non-partisan event and billed as such.

But even more troubling, I fail to understand how, If you are invited and you decline to attend, you can prevent other people from attending on the basis of Political Campaign Activity and Tax Exemption obfuscation; does it makes sense to you?

Maybe it does in Barack America where the constitution reads, ‘ We the Bamboozled, in order to form a more perfect union with the One,’ but the last time I checked, this country was still the United States of America.

Well, what are the basic guidelines of Political Campaign Activity and Non-Profit Organization in regards to their tax-exempt status?

nonprofit.about.com/od/nonprofitbasics/a/loseexempt.htm

How Not to Lose Your Tax-Exempt Status
By Joanne Fritz, About.com
Political campaign activity

501(c)(3) organizations cannot endorse or oppose any candidate for public office. This includes contributions to a political campaign and even public statements for or against a candidate. This prohibition is ‘absolute,’ meaning that any violation can because for the IRS to strip the 501(c)(3) of its tax-exempt status.
A 501(c)(3) may invite a political candidate to speak at an event IF no fundraising occurs, IF an equal opportunity to speak is extended to other candidates seeking the same office, and IF the organization does not indicate its support for or opposition to any candidate.

So the simple fact is that, extended the offer to both sides seems to solve any issue being put forth.
If the other side chooses not to participate that’s their problem, seems pretty simple to me.

But then I don’t get paid 500 an hour to make mountains out of molehills.

One could argue that maybe I am just a bitter simple simpleton, clinging to my simplicity and my simple speak and my antipathy to convolution and obfuscation as a way to explain my frustration with the complicated folk and their unwillingness to address an issue that seems pretty damn simple.

Now a rally, that would have received massive media coverage, thanks to the appearance of La Clinton and La Palin, and would have put the issue of a Nuclear Iran front and center on the MSM radar and the American dinner table, an issue that most Americans actually are interested in, an issue that is not just another distraction, becomes just another rally and the politics of it just another Obama Manufactured Distraction (Like OMG only with a D) in the name of non-partisanship. It Seems that it became pretty petty and partisan.
How clever of them to distract with a distraction by claiming that we are not interested in distractions. We have seen this type of distraction before from the Obama campaign, all throughout the primaries.
Apparently the only thing that they deem worthy of Americans’ interest is Hope and Change, everything else is a distraction.

These attempts at distracting through distractions that the Obama campaign keeps throwing out to obfuscate the issues and avoid dealing with relevant topics of interest to the educated voter do not hold up to scrutiny. The fact is that the American people are interested in these things that Obama and his surrogates blithely claim are just distractions.

They are interested in who Obama actually is and whether he can be trusted with our country, and what his actual agenda worldview really is. They are interested in who politicians politic behind the scenes for political advantage but deny they did when standing in front of a teleprompter and a news crew.

As Senator McCain pointed out, ‘Change is not a destination, and Hope is not a strategy.’

It is disingenuous to believe for one moment that either Senator Clinton or Governor Palin would have said or done anything but promote the agenda of the rally organizers had they appeared. To imply that either of these women would lack the professionalism to avoid politicking at a non-partisan event or would have done anything during their appearance to take the focus off the event is pure horseshit. They would have done nothing of the sort. Now the MSM and the Obama campaign on the other hand, that’s a different matter.

Yes they would have, in their rush to sensationalize, focused on the Palin / Clinton joint appearance as a potential WWF style Tanya Harding /Nancy Kerrigan Smack-down, but really, has the MSM shown any integrity with any story this election cycle? They were hunting for a pregnancy suits for goodness sake. They (the MSM) clearly have their own agenda and they are going to promote it.

Journalistic integrity is not an option.

Note: Here is the Link to the Youtube Video of the Kerrigan/Harding Smack-down for those of you who want to get the reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTu0HT_hXnw

Will the MSM cover this story behind the story? Don’t bet on it.

Have we seen these thug-like suppression tactics before? Most assuredly we have.

This will get about as much coverage as any other story that shows just how much the Democrats have lost touch with the principles that they founded their party on in their rush to manufacture a historic presidency.

This will get as much coverage as the text messages and emails going out from the Obama campaign telling his brown-shirts supporters to flood radio stations with calls armed with a campaign approved list of talking points and terrorize threaten intimidate harass demand that those who dare question the ONEbama be silenced and their first amendment rights to publicly air their concerns and grievances be revoked in a concerted effort to silence the opposition.

Obama Campaign Confronts WGN Radio
by John McCormick and Steve Schmadeke, updated
DENVER — Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign organized its supporters Wednesday night to confront Tribune-owned WGN-AM in Chicago for having a critic of the Illinois Democrat on its air.(Listen to the interview.)
‘WGN radio is giving right-wing hatchet man Stanley Kurtz a forum to air his baseless, fear-mongering terrorist smears,’ Obama’s campaign wrote in an e-mail to supporters. ‘He’s currently scheduled to spend a solid two-hour block from9:00 to 11:00 p.m. pushing lies, distortions, and manipulations about Barack and University of Illinois professor William Ayers.’
Kurtz, a conservative writer, recently wrote an article for the National Review that looked at Obama’s ties to Ayers, a former 1960s radical who later emerged as a school reform advocate in Chicago.
The magazine had been blocked in its initial attempts to obtain records from the University of Illinois at Chicago regarding a school reform initiative called the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which Obama chaired and Ayers co-founded.
Obama critics were quick to suggest that political clout could be involved in seeking to protect Obama from embarrassment. The school later reserved its position and made the records available Tuesday.
On Wednesday evening, Obama’s campaign urged supporters to call the radio station to complain.
‘Tell WGN that by providing Kurtz with airtime, they are legitimizing baseless attacks from a smear-merchant and lowering the standards of political discourse,’ the note said.
‘It is absolutely unacceptable that WGN would give a slimy character assassin like Kurtz time for his divisive, destructive ranting on our public airwaves,’ the note continued. ‘At the very least, they should offer sane, honest rebuttal to every one of Kurtz’s lies.’

Zack Christenson, executive producer of ‘Extension 720 with Milt Rosenburg,’ said the response was strong.
‘I would say this is the biggest response we’ve ever got from a campaign or a candidate,’ he said. ‘This is really unprecedented with the show, the way that people are flooding the calls and our email boxes.’
Christenson said the Obama campaign was asked to have someone appear on the show and declined the request.

Let us not forget that Barack Obama went on TV after the Saddleback Faith Forum and declared that people were LYING about his Later Term Abortion voting record.

He insisted these people were misrepresenting his votes, views and position.

He lashed out angrily and peevishly time and again that these Lying Liars were Peddling Lies as a way to distort his record!

Note: Here is the Link to the Youtube Video of the Obama Lying about his vote: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlBj9mzqOIU

Of course the next day we found out it was Barack Obama who was Lying and his own campaign even admitted it, although they were careful not to call Barack L Lying Liar who was peddling Lies as a way to cover up his own record.

http://www.nysun.com/national/obama-facing-attacks-from-all-sides-over-abortion/84059/

Indeed, Mr. Obama appeared to misstate his position in the CBN interview on Saturday when he said the federal version he supported “was not the bill that was presented at the state level.”
His campaign yesterday acknowledged that he had voted against an identical bill in the state Senate, and a spokesman, Hari Sevugan, said the senator and other lawmakers had concerns that even as worded, the legislation could have undermined existing Illinois abortion law. Those concerns did not exist for the federal bill, because there is no federal abortion law.
In 2005, the campaign noted, a “Born Alive” bill passed the Illinois Legislature after another clause had been added that explicitly stated that the legislation would have no effect on existing state abortion laws.
Told of the campaign’s explanation, the legislative director of the National Right to Life Committee, Douglas Johnson, was dubious. “These are newly manufactured and highly implausible excuses,” he said. “There is no way that the bill would have had any effect on any method of abortion.” Mr. Johnson said the version Mr. Obama voted down clearly applied only to fetuses that emerged from the womb alive.

When it comes to the truth and the American people, Barack Obama wants to make sure that the truth they get is the truth he wants them to get.

It seems that the actual “Inconvenient Truth” will NOT get in the way of his truth if he, his campaign, his surrogates, his hopium-addled followers, or his Media Pom-Pom Brigade have anything to do with it.

Tell me Senator Obama, is silencing dissent as patriotic as paying more taxes.

Of course back in Merry New England, a few Bostonians had a problem with the idea of ‘Taxation without Representation’ and promptly turned Boston Harbor into a giant cup of tea.

Apparently they didn’t have Starbuck’s back then, and we should all be grateful.

The Boston Latte Party just doesn’t sound very historic.

Anyone remember the good old days when the government officials used Tax Audits as a threat to get people to cooperate with them?

How about the Really Good Old Days when vicious rumor, sleazy innuendo and unsubstantiated stories where circulated to the public to incite and outrage? Often times an angry mob was all too happy to show up at your door with torches and kindling.

While Senator Obama can lie in church that ‘Selma Got Me Born’ as away to lay claim to civil rights street credibility, there were quite a few people who could lay legitimate claim to Salem; Salem got them burned. **

Looks like La Barbra was right. Happy days are here again!

** Note: Yes it has been well established that while burning witches at the stake was common practice all over the world during the days of the Salem Witch Trials, in England and the Colonies, most of those who were accused and found guilty were hanged and not burned at the stake. However, in deference to the anagram (Selma -Salem) and the rhythm of the prose (born – burn) I chose to pull an Obama (ignore historical facts) in the service of the narrative.

I am reading through the comments and the articles from the 22nd due to the distraction of employment sans computer screen available.

And had to belatedly thank RRRA and JGDAW for their absolutely fine reads. You both say it loud and proud with no hint of cloud.

I read the headlines and catch the drift of what is current then go back to where I left off so as not to miss gems like this one.

A+ analysis.

It appears that pressure was put on Senator Clinton behind the scenes and she was forced to back out.

Thank you, Jeremiah! It’s been in the back of my mind that Obama had something to do with Hillary not participating. It’s the way this guy works!

I did read the whole thing! Especially:

Of course back in Merry New England, a few Bostonians had a problem with the idea of ‘Taxation without Representation’ and promptly turned Boston Harbor into a giant cup of tea.

Apparently they didn’t have Starbuck’s back then, and we should all be grateful.

The Boston Latte Party just doesn’t sound very historic. (Except maybe to Obama and his supporters!) LOL

The other thing pulling at the edge of my brain is that by not having the big protest rally and speeches, the event got less press overall. Which might be nice for BO, whose very very very good friend Jarrett is apparently having a big Hyatt dinner for her fellow Iranian sometime soon.

So less profile for the visitor = less fallout from BO’s scummy associates’ friends? ??

Comment by Jeremiah God Damn Amerikkka Wright | 2008-09-22 21:49:23

“Jesus was a community organizer and broke bread with his disciples…i don’t see why anyone would have a problem with a dinner party. Pontius Palin on the other hand is a governor and she shoots furry animals…small defensless furry animals…and eats them.”

Hillary Clinton has lost my respect and my vote.
I understand the speech at the DNC. Continuing to shill for obarfo is over and above. She is the only national figure campaigning and begging us to support barfo.
My republican friends who voted for her in the primary will never vote for her again. What I hear constantly is that she didn’t stand up for herself.
This latest incident has made me realize that she does not put our country’s interest above her own.
She is not half the woman Sarah Palin is.

Comment by Maverick | 2008-09-22 20:03:21

She is on a campaign BUS going from town to town telling people to vote for the dangerous ONE.
Buh Bye Hillary. I hope the kool aid wasn’t bitter.

Comment by Jeremiah God Damn Amerikkka Wright | 2008-09-22 20:42:04

wake up.

They are holding a gun to the Clinton’s Political Head.

If Hillary doesn not make a reasonable attempt to go out and campaign for and support that POS liar they will blame his loss on her, destroy the clintons fully and run Obama again in 2012.

The only way she can survive and be there to help rebuild is if she puts on a good show, and he loses and they blame racism not the clintons.

Then she can start the meme quitely that she told them so, that she had more votes, that they would have won with her and over the course of the next 3 years rid the party of the Axelfraud Obummer assholes and rebuild and run again.

You play checkers with your votes once every year.

The Clintons play chess.

The game is not the same.

You don’t fire with fire, You fight fire with water. Burning her bridges now when clearly they are all headed over the cliff and refuse to turn back doesn’t do anyone any good.

She fought for us during the primaries and we let her down. we were not there for her in the beginning when it mattered. we only came at the end.

Now its our turn to fight for her with our votes.

Ensure Obama loses.

Accept that she must campaign for him to not be destroyed in the party and still be standing after the explosion on november 4.

only that way can she fight again for us and return in 2012.

Its really not terribly complicated unless you think the world is black and white.

Thank you Rev Amy for the great post and Jeremiah for your comment. I’m really curious why there are still attacks on Hillary even though she is out of the race? She is being pulled by both sides to do something that would only hurt her in the end. I don’t believe many of the critical comments on this site who say they voted for Hillary. If you are really one of the eighteen million, you trust her. There is an effort here to highjack this blog and it becomes more intense everyday. I keep reading and commenting here because of people like the two of you.

If I remember right, during her speech at the Democratic Convention, she released her delegates to vote according to their conscience (to that effect).
Reading between the lines, she was directing that to you and me, her supporters. Even she said to vote Obama, she wants us to vote the way we want ! That’s my interpretation & besides, I own my vote!
For my country, I will vote McCain/Palin ‘08; Hillary ‘12 ! NOOBAMA !(he is too PHONY )
He surrounds himself of thugs.

God Bless America !

Like it or not…she is the last First Lady of the Democratic Party and she is the sitting Democratic Senator from the state of New York.

She will try and save the party from her position as a leader within the party.

Expecting her to quit the Dems with such positions on her resume. Or expecting her run as Independent because they stabbed her in the back makes no sense. To make such a shift would be cowardly in long view of history because she dropped the fight to save her party. But she also cuts her power within the Senate by going Independent.

I don’t expect her to cut her nose off to spite her face or that of her husband’s legacy either. They are living to fight another day and continue to build support by helping down ticket Dems. Their knowledge of the inside makes it the best possible postion to fight from.

Previously I thought, Hillary not going to this event was better for both Clinton and Palin. The media would have portrayed it as a cat fight. But Rev made interesting comments about the development of the back story which point to several possibilities.

What if the real probelm is that both women would have risen to occasion and outshined the One?

Certainly, Hillary would have delivered and if you look at Palin’s comments. She would have performed better than Obama’s early attempts reaching the Jewish community because of her authenticity and clear bipartisan support.

It could have in one moment been double the devastation for Obama. Having both Hillary and Sarah looking more presidential than him.

Hillary Clinton is nothing but a calculating self centered fraud. Who has now made herself look like a weak fool.

How can Obama make her drop out ? LOL

She didnt want another woman to make it to the white house before her. She wanted to be the one to break the glass cieling. She never gave a shit about womens rights, she just used that as a way to get votes, but the truth is she would rather have this country ran by a muslim sympathizer, and have women set back 20 years, than have another woman steal her show.

I have watched Obama and the voter fraud, the lies, the dissing of Hillary, the sexism, the whiny baby tantrum over Palin, the smears and lies about Palin, including that HORRIFYING CRAP about her special needs baby. Obama and the AMERICA SUCKS WORLD TOUR, the 100 MILLION DOLLAR TOGA PARTY AT MILE HIGH, ALL OF IT ARE A DISGRACE TO AMERICA AND SO IS HE. I have been doing, and will continue to do, what I can in my part of the world to destroy him. Comment by pumapower | 2008-09-22 20:36:20

the amount of anti hillary hate in this post is unbelievable.

is that the new obama tactic? to turn her supporters against her for supporting obama?

she does what she has to do because she supports the democratic party. she is smart to know that there are times to pick a fight and wage a war against your enemies and this is not the time to do it against the democrat leaders who staged a coup against her supporters. she is working her heart out for down ticket democrats because she knows that cost of losing both the presidency and the congress to the republicans would be too great if she were to leave the democratic party entirely.

as for pulling out the anti-iran event, it was said at the time that she wanted to avoid any inappropriate association with Palin and give media a chance to use the fact that they attend the event together as something to be used against her. i.e. implicating that she is subliminally telling her supporters to support Palin by appearing at the same event with her.

i think the democrat party as is controlled by the likes of dean, pelosi, kerry, brasille, and obama is not the democrat party that i used to belong to. but for the lack of a better alternative, my present support goes to them for congressional leaders.

i cannot yet bring myself to support their selection of the presidential nominee.

It is a sad day when a political party has to pressure anyone against freedom of speech, and why are they doing this? Are we so far gone as a country that an opinion cannot be expressed by women from two opposing parties. It’s pure behind the scenes manipulation. Just like when we are driven off track on a thread, but at a much larger scale. The fact is we all lose when voices are silenced. It isn’t too far fetched to see Senator Clinton pulled out by the D party, thus making it possible to pull Palin out, because it wouldn’t be fair and balanced – both parties not represented. Same sad tactics against women, different century.

I did the research, the math, and spent time with those that were involved and witnessed the fraud. My heart broke for her. That DEMEANING staged BS “roll call” and forcing her to drop out. That negotiation went on for the first three days of Denver. I cried the night before when I was told what they were going to make her do. Pelosi and Obama are sick people. The lowest this country has ever seen. Hillary would have won the White House this year. Hands down. That’s BS that the Republicans hate her. I never heard that. Regardless 18,000,000 people owe it to their party to show them that they aren’t sheep and won’t accept this COMPLETELY unelectable fool Obama. His behavior and his idiocy are appalling. How did America sink so low that stupid people are out there voting for this fraud? Ughhhhh….

Comment by VRWC - Ahmadinejad Dept. | 2008-09-22 20:45:50

Did Obama’s campaign do this for domestic political reasons? Or did it do it for Ahmadinejad? If you think that foreign leaders don’t HATE protests when and where they visit in the U.S.A. and don’t communicate that hate to the powers that be, then think again. Ceaucescu was not shy on the subject. Let the Obama campaign explain its opposition to Palin’s or HRC’s or any other politician’s speaking out at a protest against Ahmadinejad. Let them explain that they threatened to undermine the group’s tax status with the IRS for domestic political reasons rather than in order to curry favor with Ahmadinejad. I mean that part of the real point is that they have helped Ahmadinejad, and they should be ashamed.

Comment by Docelder | 2008-09-22 21:47:44

It’s that the powers that be did not want Palin to appear with Hillary for fear it would lend Palin credibility in the public eye. They weren’t sure they could force Palin out or not, so they told Hillary she could not attend. Then the powers that be started working on the tax exempt status of a group that would host a political event. It was not a political event, but that I believe was the pressure used to force out Palin. It’s the Chicago machine dirty politics. Nothing new, nobody wins, not even the event sponsors could win, if Iran did not win… at least they won knowing nobody else could win… so in the end they win by default. The Obama legacy, get used to it. Obama first. Country if there’s any left.

Comment by Diana L. C. | 2008-09-22 21:17:34

The DNC IS the problem. And the DNC has been taken over somehow by Obamabot Philosophy, whatever you want to call it. They are so infatuated with their golden boy that they just want to win at all costs–especially to their integrity. They see that he has somehow risen to great heights and are trying to ride on his “magic carpet.” I think of Faust when I think of Obama.

I cannot wait for this election to be over. I think at this point, no matter who wins, the entire country loses.

My country has turned angry, sour, foul mouthed–and I mean people on both sides. The general discourse in the country is so superficial and outrageous.

I feel very sad for some of the young politicians in my state who seem genuinely devoted to providing service. I sure hope they can survive through this upheaval and turmoil.

Pay attention, you just got a lesson in the way the game is best played.

The Democrats need to smooze the American Jewish community. Clinton would be cheered, perhaps Obama would be booed (and he was, in absentia). Boo is bad so Clinton goes.

The downside is that protesting a legally elected head of state addressing the UN by invitation would soil the statesman side of Hillary’s CV.

Oh what to do?

Have one Clinton’s inside people invite Palin and give Clinton an easy out.

I am puzzled by the outcome of this planned event as well.
There is NO way Senator Clinton would be intimidated by speaking at an event with ANYONE!
Since she spoke about human rights in some very hostile environments, someone surely put pressure on her regarding this event!
My suspicion is that there will be some early announcements of Cabinet posts, and she will be in line for Secretary of State…a position that Biden always wanted.
