“CHICAGO MACHINE”

At the end of his rather provocative story today, Eastan already posted this new video, but just in case you missed it, it’s worth posting above the fold. The campaign couldn’t list all of Obama’s Chicago cronies, so I’ve added some names for you to checkout in the Category list above the story.

readingrezko1.jpgIn mid-June, Truthteller and I did an hour-long radio show on the highly disturbing story of Rezko and Obama’s long relationships, and the impoverished people of Chicago who suffered because Obama was more interested in making big deals for his rich benefactors than in truly helping the poor get beter housing. Listen to the archive of our show, just as timely today as it was in June. It’s also vital to read these two articles on Obama’s entanglements with these corrupt and unconscionably cruel men: “The Blood Money of Barack Obama’s Money Men” and the Boston Globe’s “Grim proving ground for Obama’s housing policy.”

Also in June, in “The Epistolary Rezko,” Truthteller undertook the daunting task of compiling ALL of the posts at No Quarter — and there have been dozens of them! — on Tony Rezko and Obama’s other questionable associations with various characters in the Chicago Machine:

No Quarter dossier on Obama and Rezko:

RezkoWatch contains even more information on Obama’s deep and problematic ties to convicted slumlord and notorious political fixer Antoin “Tony” Rezko.

Thanks for this article, Susan. Rove just did a more detailed rundown on Fox re Rezko and some of those questions. I am hoping that these hordes of details will start to gain more circulation now, and that people will start to think!

Kal, I heard Rove talking about Rezko today also and I hope someone is ready to take on this issue. It’s been out there for a long time.

Comment by Chicago | 2008-09-23 11:27:29

One problem I have about Karl Rove’s analysis of Obama’s connection with Gov. Blagojevich is the he stated that Blagojevich is not really connected with Obama.

let me tell you that Obama and Blagojevich ARE connected via Rezko. Rezko was Blagojevich’s fundraising coordinator. Rezko is one of the main money guy for the corrupt machine in Chicago and has supported Daley, Blagojevich, Emil Jones, and many other candidates supported by the Daley Machine.

Blagojevich has been under an investigation for his ties with Rezko and so far he’s managed to distance himself effectively.

Right now, the Daley machine, and Emil Jones are in a “mock” battle with Blagojevich to show that they are trying to reform Illinois state government by passing a reform legislation that was altered by Blagojevich via line item veto. Emil Jones received a call from Obama pressuring him to pass the legislation in its original form so that it can be shown that Obama and Jones are for reform in Illinois. one question for this political move - why in the hell didn’t Obama do this when he was a state legislator in Illinois? the quick answer, because it would’ve hurt his and the rest of the machine politicians in Illionois’ upper hand in raising funds from companies that are bidding for state contracts (which is Blagojevich’s main problem and offense - giving away state contracts to companies that gave large sums to his campaign fund without the virtue of competitive bidding).

keep in mind that this fiasco (un-ehtical fundraising) is not solely a Blagojevich problem but an Obama problem (as his record with Rezko shows), an Emil Jones problem (along with nepotism), a Mayor Daley problem, and all other members of the chicago machine.

Illinois State government has been the most corrupt government in the entire union and Obama is right in the thick of things in Illinois.

Obama’s support of the corrupt machine politics in Chicago is not well known around the country. Obama HAS NEVER, EVER, fought to reform the Illinois State government and root out corruption, HE ALWAYS supported it, HARBORED it, and BENEFITTED from it.

The Obama/Blagojevich/Jones/Daley connections is not even all of it. no one, as of yet have looked into Obama’s connection with the Stroger family of Cook County, Il. The Stroger family is the first family of Cook County and is more corrupt, if not as corrupt as the Daley family in Chicago. the Stroger family makes Emil Jones’ nepotism practice look tame compared to what they’ve done with the Cook County Administration where relatives where given administration posts and salary increases as Cook County taxes where increased, property tax, sales tax, etc. while health care workers doctors, nurses, hospital workers were fired from the Stroger Hospital (formerly Cook County Hospital of “ER” fame).

unfortunately, the media that claims to champion the people’s right to know is purposely ignoring everything that is corrupt about Obama and his deaings in the Illinois state and local governments.

Obama is not a person that I will ever trust with our country, knowing what I know about how corrupt he and his cronies are.

if he ever gets into the Oval Office, GOD HELP US ALL!

Ya know, I can’t help but think the republicans are mostly to blame that Obama wasn’t vetted as properly as he should have been. When they went after Bill and made up all that shit, everyone saw it as a witchhunt. Now everyone assumes that this vetting of Obama is part of the rightwing smear machine instead of a natural poltitical process. Nice going Newt.

Comment by Diana L. C. | 2008-09-22 22:07:33

I’ve been thinking the same thing. My so smug friends and family are just SURE that everything negative about O is made up by Rove and the Republican spin machine.

I have to make myself read and read and read and think about sources: Who can we trust to give us objective reporting and research?

I keep coming back to my “experience” as a delegate through the primmaries. I didn’t make that up. It happened. I didn’t see or hear anything from O that made me think he was innocent of the ethics violations I experienced.

So the story here at NQ matches my experience better than the story coming from the MSM.

I just fear that so many people don’t think it’s important to dig deeper.

But mostly I am bitter and angry that my experience doesn’t seem to mean much to many of my friends and family. I have to be “crazy,” not them.

Comment by StrawberrybitesBarky | 2008-09-22 22:17:38

I agree, Diane. When it comes down to it, the only person I trust is myself and what I saw at my caucus. All other points are moot. IF (and that is a big if) the republicans engineered Barky getting the nomination by gaming the caucuses, Barky should have the decency and patriotism to admit it and step down for the good of the party and the good of the country. Yet he kept silent about the whole thing. He is a pig, not worthy of the name, Democrat.

Comment by Hillary or Bust | 2008-09-22 22:20:26

Ask them if they honestly think that the Democrats are always noble and above reproach. That anyone who goes into a career in politics and chooses to be a Democrat must therefore always be a good person instead of ambitious and potentially corrupt.

Comment by StrawberrybitesBarky | 2008-09-22 22:31:30

I always thought if you want to make money in politics, go be a republican. My guess is, when big business saw the gravy train grinding to a halt thanks to Bush effing up so much, they went looking for a democrat they could use…and they found Obama. God, I loathe him.

Diana,

Are you from Texas? I lived what you are talking about. You are not alone.

I think that many of the events during the primaries need to be revisited and revealed. Obama’s character will be exposed. He is not POTUS material.

Comment by TxDi | 2008-09-22 22:44:07

I personally feel that they were fearful of being called racist. Think about it for a lil bit.
Know what I mean? StrawberrybitesBarky, I feel that you do know what I mean.
Everyone walked on egg shells, my reasoning they did not want to call out to the man (Obama) on his lack of inexperience, etc., because of the fear of being labeled a racist. All for naught, same difference.
Lord knows we all can read and see and hear with our own discernment and it is for our own merit and those of our loved ones.
Even still, do not want to step on any toes.
I feel strongly that is the reason why Hillary too kept somewhat of a low profile in many ways.
She was damned if she did and damned if she didn’t and look at what happened to them.
God knows we are all human, no matter what color, race, religion, etc.
And no less this too can be a reason for McCain not really going after him (Obama) full throttle.
What I don’t understand how the media knows of many of his associates and going’s on and have reported some of them (as I have read here), but it’s like just a dusting off from the shoulder and no big deal.
Having read some blogs where Biden might take to being ill and being replaced with Hillary sounds like a lot of BS. Since voting has started in some states it is hard to believe.
Nevertheless, we would NOT vote for obama even if Hillary was in the VP position.

Comment by Obama is a bum | 2008-09-23 00:04:20

The Republicans wanted Obama to get the nomination since they felt they had a better chance of defeating him than Clinton. They also depended on the media to do a lot of the vetting on Obama like they would any candidate. Like most people they underestimated the power of race. The media has always had a bad track record on race but it keeps getting worse — not only do they refuse to go after Obama, they are endorsing him despite his unprecedented shortcomings.

When it comes to a position as important as the president of the US, one would think that the media would want to put their race bias aside for the good of the country; unfortunately the media does not see it that way.

Comment by BJinChicago | 2008-09-23 00:56:14

The corporate media is not backing Obama because of his race. They are banking on using the race card to intimidate people into voting for him.

If it is negative about Obama the media won’t touch it. Obama’s citizen of the world attitude scares me. Obama has already called white people greedy and wants to take their money and distribute it around the world. His friend and advisor, Phleger, is radical enough to demand white people forfeit their jobs and 401k plans. This insanity makes everyone poor.

Still waiting for the glowing documentary on what BO — the uniter, the community organizer, the New Politics messiah — has done for Chicago’s South Side and Illinois. I’d be satisfied with a primetime, 30-second clip, a sound bite, anything. Crickets again? He has done nothing except tend to his political ambitions, all the while believing he’s untouchable.

This smells. His meager, questionable background doesn’t warrant the enormous amount of funding that has come his way. The claim that his campaign donations have come from individual internet donors is laughable (and insulting). I’m thinking lipstick on a pig.

I would like somebody to name me one job Obama ever had that he performed better than average at. I think most, if not all of his jobs were below average performance. The best his supporters can do is claim he has a degree from Harvard. So what? Is Obama going to sit in the White House with his diploma hanging on the wall thinking people will be impressed? This is laughable.

Comment by Peggy Sue | 2008-09-22 22:13:21

You know, I’m still amazed at how utterly “bamboozeled” the Obama supporters are. The evidence against Obama’s credentials and lack of leadership qualities is legion. He’s demonstrated no, nada new ideas for the country, his own state nor the district he represented as a state legislator. His past affiliations are dubious at best, downright scary at worst. He’s voted “present” on controversial issues, took a disgraceful stand on “live birth” abortions and taken big money from the very people who tumbled the financial markets. The man is an opportunist with a hopey-dopey message [that has become very skewed over the last few months with all the flip-flops and change--of positions.] He’s the flip side of GW with left wing posturing.

How could any rational voter scramble on this derailed and discredited candidate’s train?

People have literally lost their minds. And the charge of racism will “not” pull the bunny out of the hat.

Comment by Obama is a bum | 2008-09-23 00:45:27

This election has shown how ugly race is. We have a media which promotes the race card on the most important position in the world. Ironically we see a similar mergence of Ayers’ Weathermen and the Black Panthers. The Weathermen wanted to merge with the Black Panthers in the early 70s(this consisted of self hating white people and a black power movement in an effort to overthrow the government) and we now see a similar mergence of white guilt and black pride to form the Obama coalition in an effort to overthrow the government. The media loves this and is trying to sell it as PC. Like Spitzer, they do this for a feel good moment without ever thinking about the repercussions.

It’s somewhat amazing to me that the Obama camp can say that when Obama was experiencing a drop in the polls, it was because he had been distracted by the Lipstick on a pig comment. A comment that he made first. Now let me get this straight because it sounds very much like reverse racism and sexism to me. Now if Obama can first say, Did i mention that im black and immediately following that comment someone of another race calls him Black in whatever context. Are they suppose to feel some type of guilt because Obama’s campaign endeavors are being distracted because He, Obama said he was Black. Obama and his suragates either thinks that people are stupid and not credited with the gift of an independent thought, or he’s the one that is stupid himeself. I will vote accordinly and let him be the judge. ofcourse he does have the best judgement in his opinion.

Joe Biden Rewrites History (again) - MAJOR GAFFE ALERT

Reposted from downthread:

I am LMAO at the ignorance of the following comment by Joe Biden to Katie Couric and for Couric nodding in agreement with it. This is shocking!

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/09/22/eveningnews/main4470063.shtml

Behind The Scenes With Joe Biden
CBS News Anchor Katie Couric Spends The Day With The Democratic VP Nominee

Sept. 22, 2008

CBS News was with him last Thursday during one of the rockiest weeks in history for the U.S. economy, something that wasn’t lost on the six-term senator.

“Part of what being a leader does is to instill confidence is to demonstrate what he or she knows what they are talking about and to communicating to people … this is how we can fix this,” Biden said. “When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the princes of greed. He said, ‘look, here’s what happened.’”

Hmm, so, according to Joe Biden, when the stock market crashed in 1929, FDR appeared on TV and talked candidly with the American people.

Gee, that sounds so nice, doesn’t it? And Katie Couric just nodded along in agreement with Joe Biden.

But wait! There’s a little problem with what Joe Biden said: Historical Facts

1. The great Stock Market crash was in October of 1929.

2. Herbert Hoover was the President then.

3. FDR was not elected President until November 1932, the first of four terms.

AND furthermore…

4. I’m pretty sure FDR wasn’t popping up on TV to reassure the American people of anything in 1929, given the fact that it was not until TEN years later, in

(wait for it)

1939 !!!

when FDR became the first President of the United States to

(wait for it)

APPEAR ON TELEVISION !!

LOL!!! My side hurts now!! :)

FDR was at the 1939 Word’s Fair in New York in 1939 and his appearance was broadcast to a handful of TV sets in the New York area by RCA. That was the first time a US President appeared on TV.

Question:

How can Joe Biden get a pass on uttering such ignorance? Did Katie Couric not know what a whopper Joe Biden was telling? Golly!

I am looking for a good link with the video of this whopper by Joe Biden and will post it when I get it.

Update: Anyone found a link to the video of Biden’s interview with Katie Couric yet? If you do, please post it. Thanks!

This article is a favorite of mine.

Obama has said he only did 5 hours of work for Rezko,
had lunch with him only once or twice a year and never did any political favors for him.

Yet when Rezko and his former law firm boss went into business, Obama, a State Senator who still worked at the law firm, wrote letters in their behalf.

This is Obama’s spokesman Burton and his ridiculous explanation:

On Tuesday, Bill Burton, press secretary for Obama’s presidential campaign, said the letters Obama wrote in support of the development weren’t intended as a favor to Rezko or Davis.

“This wasn’t done as a favor for anyone,” Burton said in a written statement. “It was done in the interests of the people in the community who have benefited from the project.

“done in the interests of the people in the community who have benefited from the project”.

BENEFITED you say? Holy Cow. I just pissed my pants from laughing so hard.

hahahahahahahahahahahaha

With friends like this, those poor folk in Chicago certainly need no enemies.

And BTW, Truthteller Rocks! His hard work getting the word out on Rezko may actually be the nail that leads to Barry’s demise. It is certainly being talked about a lot on the news tonite. Keep up the pressure.

I hope that any October surprises get out soon. Early voting starts here in NC on October 10th. Early voting like this is something I don’t quite understand. One should have to wait until closer to the actual election day to cast their vote. Voting almost one month ahead of election day is crazy. It’s not like you can take your vote back if something happens to make you change your mind.

Twisting in the wind aren’t they? Little Obots trying, trying, trying to save the sinking ship. Bailing water with a coffee can.

I think Mr. Fitzgerald and his team of investigators might see the whole Rezko and Obama relationship in a much different context. Obama is not off the hook as of yet in the investigation of the Chicago corruption machine. Obama’s head could still roll.

Point to Remember: Two were named in the opening statements of the Rezko trial. Two men that had the power to play in corruption at the highest level.

Governor Blagejovich

Senator Obama

Those of you who are affiliated with the Democratic party or plan on going back in the future need to become more active in the election process other than just voting to ensure a fiasco like Obama does not happen again.

When a politician comes out of Chicago that should send up an immediate red flag — I picked up on this before almost anyone else seemed to. While others were fainting over Obama I did a little research instead and found out about the church he attended being Afrocentric, devoted to Africa, with black this and black that, etc. This was enough for me to know Obama was too radical and reject him but I never knew how bad it really was until the Wright tapes surfaced and found out Wright was a nutcase and Obama had a very close relationship with him.

Comment by Northwest rain | 2008-09-23 01:31:38

Apparently most people are too lazy to investigate the individuals running for President. And we know that the media isn’t interested in vetting Obama.

30 lawyers go up to Alaska to investigate Palin — at one of McCain’s rallies someone asked a question about when the media was going to vet Obama. When is someone going to send 30 lawyers to Chicago.

I expect that the GOP has investigated Obama-Soetoro and the Chicago political machine.

How many more Chicago “surprises” await us in October?

Comment by elise | 2008-09-22 23:51:32

This is what Obama said about Rezko during the CNN Part 1 debate in South Carolina. I’m posting the link to the entire transcript. It was the first debate on economic issues and to go back and read it now is fascinating.

BLITZER: I’m going to go to Suzanne Malveaux in a second, but I just want to give you a chance, Senator Obama, if you want to respond. Senator Clinton made a serious allegation that you worked for a slumlord. And I wonder if you want to respond.

OBAMA: I’m happy to respond. Here’s what happened: I was an associate at a law firm that represented a church group that had partnered with this individual to do a project and I did about five hours worth of work on this joint project. That’s what she’s referring to.

Now, it’s fine for her to throw that out, but the larger reason that I think this debate is important is because we do have to trust our leaders and what they say. That is important, because if we can’t, then we’re not going to be able to mobilize the American people behind bringing about changes in health care reform, bringing about changes in how we’re going to put people back to work, changing our trade laws. And consistency matters. Truthfulness during campaigns makes a difference.

Notice how ratlike Tony Rezko the Syrian-born slumlord is? I bet he and Barack like to talk in Arabic when with each other.

A reporter once saw Barack speaking Arabic with flawless pronunciation he learned at an Indonesian public school where he had a weekly class in reading aloud from the Koran in Arabic, sometimes wearing a special sarong according to witnesses. He even mentioned that in Dreams From My Father. The class was only open to students registered as Muslims like Barack was (under the name Barry Soetoro).

That is, letting his constituents go without heat for 6 weeks in January while Rezko was giving him campaign contributions??? Which section of the country will be without energy in January during a Obama administration?? This is not as farfetched as it sounds = remember parts of CA were short of electricty after ENRON collapsed. This would be a good topic for a campaign commercial.
