At a friend’s tonight, I watched part of a recording of the September 12th HBO show, “Real Time with Bill Maher.”
I’m in shock. This is what these television personalities think and say, and feel it’s perfectly alright to express? Things like this about Sarah Palin?
MAHER: “Did you see the [interview with Charlie Gibson]? I am officially frightened. …”
MAHER: “Charlie Gibson asked her if she’s ready to be vice president or president. She said, ‘I’m ready’. And a bell went off, and she said, ‘Ohhh, and so’s my pie’.”

MAHER: “She thought the Bush Doctrine had something to do with forbidding her daughters to shave down there.”
MAHER, after some more insults: “Qualified to be vice president? She’s not qualified to be the mayor of Wasilla. This is a Category 5 moron we’ve got on our hands, and I am unapologetic in saying that.”
MAHER, on her coming home to Wasilla after the convention: “They greeted her with signs …. some said ‘Sarah Barracuda’. Her favorite one, though, was the one held by her daughter that said, ‘I got my period’. … That is a fertile family, I tell ya.”
Maher introduces Paul Begala, and they chat.
MAHER: “You [Democrats] have everything going for you. The economy, the war, … and somehow you’re losing to a 200-year-old man and a mountain mama who makes Bush look like a professor.”
BEGALA: [Laughs.] “She had that moose in the headlights appearance with Charlie Gibson, didn’t she …”

Thank god for people like Reverend Amy who see the world beyond the perverted, cynical, cruel views of the likes of Bill Maher and Sandra Bernhard.

I’ve been boycotting Bill Maher since watching his first show this season. He’s always had a problem with women, but this season his misogyny is unbearable. My husband stopped watching last season for the same reason.

Bill Maher looks like Howard the Duck. The only reason he can get laid is because he’s famous and apparently that’s within the paygrade for some women. He has no respect for women for that reason. Every time he looks in the mirror he knows the truth and the truth does not set him free.
Instead he is a half-smart, smart-ass, pothead who thinks he has all the answers. We all know that that’s as far away from the truth as 0bama is on most days.
My only question is, how did these people get famous?

I found him lacking and jittery like he was unsure of himself. Begala often rambled when given the chance to talk and was quickly shut up by the other commentaries.

If people would turn their televisions off, or put it on Fox or PBS and then go out or go to another room to read a book, maybe the people who monitor our viewing habits would get it. I put Fox on every night, most of the time I watch, but sometimes we just leave the house and go to football or PTA, and we leave it on while we’re gone. Mind you I’m not talking about regular Fox, I’m talking their Cable News. I will be watching the debates there, and the election coverage, as well. In fact, they had a live link to the Emmy’s last night online. I have not watched HBO in a couple of years, and although at one time I thought Bill Maher was edgy/funny, I can also admit that I once thought white parachute pants were a chic, fashion choice. I wouldn’t be caught dead with either one now!

Never Again - everyone is going to get very serious scrutiny if they want my vote.

According to recent news reports, a new network of Sharia courts in a half-dozen major cities in the U.K. have been empowered under British law to adjudicate a wide variety of legal cases ranging from divorces and financial disputes to those involving domestic violence.
“This is a case where truth is truly stranger than fiction,” said Tancredo. “Today the British people are learning a hard lesson about the consequences of massive, unrestricted immigration.”
Sharia law, favored by Muslim extremists around the world, often calls for brutal punishment – such as the stoning of women who are accused of adultery or have children out of wedlock, cutting off the hands of petty thieves and lashings for the casual consumption of alcohol. Under Sharia law, a woman is often required to provide numerous witnesses to prove rape allegations against an assailant – a near impossible task.
“When you have an immigration policy that allows for the importation of millions of radical Muslims, you are also importing their radical ideology – an ideology that is fundamentally hostile to the foundations of western democracy – such as gender equality, pluralism, and individual liberty,” said Tancredo. “The best way to safeguard America against the importation of the destructive effects of this poisonous ideology is to prevent its purveyors from coming here in the first place.”
Tancredo’s bill, dubbed the “Jihad Prevention Act,” would bar the entry of foreign nationals who advocate Sharia law. In addition, the legislation would make the advocacy of Sharia law by radical Muslims already in the United States a deportable offense.
Tancredo pointed to the results of a recent poll conducted by the Centre for Social Cohesion as evidence that the U.S. should act to prevent the situation in Great Britain from replicating itself here in the United States. “Jihad Prevention Act” would deny U.S. visas to advocates of ‘Sharia’ law, expel Islamists already here
WASHINGTON, DC – Amid disturbing revelations that the verdicts of Islamic Sharia courts are now legally binding in civil cases in the United Kingdom, U.S. Representative Tom Tancredo (R-Littleton) moved quickly today to introduce legislation designed to protect the United States from a similar fate.
According to recent news reports, a new network of Sharia courts in a half-dozen major cities in the U.K. have been empowered under British law to adjudicate a wide variety of legal cases ranging from divorces and financial disputes to those involving domestic violence.
“This is a case where truth is truly stranger than fiction,” said Tancredo. “Today the British people are learning a hard lesson about the consequences of massive, unrestricted immigration.”
Sharia law, favored by Muslim extremists around the world, often calls for brutal punishment – such as the stoning of women who are accused of adultery or have children out of wedlock, cutting off the hands of petty thieves and lashings for the casual consumption of alcohol. Under Sharia law, a woman is often required to provide numerous witnesses to prove rape allegations against an assailant – a near impossible task.
“When you have an immigration policy that allows for the importation of millions of radical Muslims, you are also importing their radical ideology – an ideology that is fundamentally hostile to the foundations of western democracy – such as gender equality, pluralism, and individual liberty,” said Tancredo. “The best way to safeguard America against the importation of the destructive effects of this poisonous ideology is to prevent its purveyors from coming here in the first place.”
Tancredo’s bill, dubbed the “Jihad Prevention Act,” would bar the entry of foreign nationals who advocate Sharia law. In addition, the legislation would make the advocacy of Sharia law by radical Muslims already in the United States a deportable offense.
Tancredo pointed to the results of a recent poll conducted by the Centre for Social Cohesion as evidence that the U.S. should act to prevent the situation in Great Britain from replicating itself here in the United States. The poll found that some 40 percent of Muslim students in the United Kingdom support the introduction of Sharia law there, and 33 percent support the imposition of an Islamic Sharia-based government worldwide.
“We need to send a clear message that the only law we recognize here in America is the U.S. Constitution and the laws passed by our democratically elected representatives,” concluded Tancredo. “If you aren’t comfortable with that concept, you aren’t welcome in the United States
Of course the problem would be that they have no problem telling a lie about their religious beliefs if lying protects their religion against the infidel.

Nebraska Swift plant fires at least 86 over Ramadan demands
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A Grand Island meatpacking plant fired at least 86 workers Friday after they walked off the job amid a dispute over prayers during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, company officials said.
But a Muslim leader and one of the fired workers said 150 Muslims lost their jobs.
JBS Swift & Co. spokeswoman Tamara Smid confirmed 86 firings late Friday, saying the employees were terminated earlier that day for repeatedly leaving work without authorization. She would not give any other details, including whether anyone else had been fired.
Mohamed Rage, who leads the Omaha Somali-American Community Organization, said 80 workers were thrown out after an altercation late Thursday. He says when they tried to return for their shift Friday, they were fired, along with 70 others.
Police said were called to the plant late Thursday amid reports of a riot or serious fight. But when officers arrived, the situation had calmed, said police Chief Steve Lamken.
Muslim workers — mostly of Somali background — have been asking for accommodations with break times to allow prayer at sunset. The issue led to walkouts this week — not only from Muslims but from non-Muslims who protested such accommodations as preferential treatment.
One of the Somali workers, Mohamed Farah, said some workers tried to take a break to pray Thursday around sunset. The break had been arranged with managers, Farah told The Associated Press, with Rage translating the conversation.
Farah said tension had been building in recent days with Latino workers, who started protesting when they saw the Muslim workers leaving for break. Farah said the Latino workers started shouting and beating on their tables.
Two women, one 19 and another in her 40s, and a 20-year-old man fainted during the commotion because they had gone so long without food, Farah said.
During Ramadan, Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset.
Dan Hoppes, president of Local 22 of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, described what happened Thursday night differently than Rage and Farah did. He said that according to management and employees, 60 to 80 people quit late Thursday after raising the prayer issue and creating a commotion.
Hoppes said supervisors had told the workers to go
back to work or leave and they left. Workers who walked off the job Monday and Tuesday in protest had to have known their leaving again would result in their termination, he said.
The plant employs about 2,500 people, not counting management. About a fifth of them are Muslim.
Tensions have also flared elsewhere, including Swift’s plant in Greeley, Colo. More than 100 workers there were fired last week because the company said they walked away from work before their shifts ended.
Hoppes couldn’t confirm the total number of workers affected Friday, but said he knew human resources representatives were posted at employee entrances to address workers.
“We don’t have any clear cut information as to numbers or why they were terminated,” he said. [...]
Swift said in a statement that the company is working to resolve the issues that have arisen.
“JBS values its diverse workforce and has a long track record of making significant accommodations to employees,” the statement said. “We work closely with all employees and union representation to accommodate religious practices in a reasonable, safe and fair manner.”
This is the same group who wanted to skip Labor Day as their holiday in lieu of one of their Muslim holidays. This is pretty much in line with how they will behave making cultural demands nationally when their percentages are high enough. They have no intention of assimilation but to change us to their way. We are getting into dangerous territory when they think they can call the shots.
We should all send letters, emails, etc. to the company encouraging them to up hold standards.
What’s even more outrageous is that the State Departmnet is importing whole communities of Muslims into the US and putting them into rural areas.

Susan, if it makes you feel any better, Joe and Valerie Wilson unintentionally revealed psuedo frothing-at-the-mouth animal rights activist Maher for what he is–a self serving jerk–when they made an appearance on his show a few months ago.
Joe appeared on the show in a very sharp leather jacket which he said Valerie had given him as a birthday present. This caught Maher totally off guard, because he could hardly heave his featured guests, Joe and Valerie, off of the show now, could he? You could visibly see Maher suck it in as he bantered with Joe and Valerie, who actually came off as much better spoken and quicker on their feet (well, OK, they were sitting down) than comedian and professional host Maher.
Personally, I thought that their appearance on Maher’s show was a credit to the Foreign Service and Intelligence service. Being an intel type myself, and a graduate of the same program as Valerie (albeit a couple of years before her and Larry), I found myself proudly saying, “One of us” as I watched her on Maher.

Our research suggests that a subdivision of one of the largest public relations firms in the world most likely started and promulgated rumors about Sarah Palin that were known to be false. These rumors were spread in a surreptitious manner to avoid exposure.
It is also likely that the PR firm was paid by outside sources to run the smear campaign. While not conclusive, evidence suggests a link to the Barack Obama campaign. Namely:

Here is the problem.
The FEC does not govern speech. Posting on YouTube is free. If I create my own video and post it there I do not have to disclose who paid for it. Only if I pay to have it aired do I fall under FEC jurisdiction.
I believe the story - that this is orchestrated by the Obama camp. It just has no legs with the FEC. Maybe if they drop the FEC part and just go with the deception, then the American people will understand that the dirt falling off of the flying anti Sarah campaign should land in Obama’s lap.
This is a PR game that we are loosing, not and FEC legal issue.

Her self-assuredness bothers me. People like that in leaders because it inspires confidence, but it should be something more than a basic personality trait. With Palin, I think it’s just a personality trait. I believe she’s the sort of person who can form strong opinions based on limited information, and then act on them as if they were established fact.

I can’t stand that show anymore. I liked Bill in the sitcom he was in “Hard Knocks”. That show cracked me up!!! So I liked him afterwards, as a stand up comic. I accepted that we had differences in opinions, and still liked his jokes. It wasn’t until last season that I realized how fucked up he is.

I also want to point out that if what the article is stating is true, then the Obama camp has violated FCC and Federal Campaign rules.
Very interesting and damning. However, I do not believe the voiceover women are the same. I do this stuff for pay too and one of the voices has a distinct over-sibilance to her “S” sounds. The other woman is clear in her “S’s.”
I think all the other data is hard and the research is wonderful.

Bill Maher is perhaps the most disgusting person on television–even on HBO. We have some good friends who never miss his show and encourage us to watch it. We always answer that we don’t have HBO. THey actually think this guy is some kind of political analyst. They don’t seem to understand that he’s just a comedian and he’s in bed (literally) with Ann Coulter–who, IMO–he’s morphed into.

The thought crosses my mind quite often that since skullduggery is a mainstay of the Obama campaign, that he will win the election even if he actually loses it. I suspect there will be rampant voter fraud coupled with voter intimidation, as well as hacking into voting machines. I really don’t put anything past Axlerod. He makes Karl Rove look “honest.” I just can’t fathom an Obama presidency. It is just too scary to think about.
If I am correct, Maher is an atheist who wants to tear down society and build it back up in the image of the anything-goes crowd. I’ve known a few people like this, and they are terribly embittered, blaming religious people, especially Christians, for all the world’s ills. I don’t watch Bill Maher anymore. He use to be one of my favorites, but he has gotten way too focused in his anger (and too many of his guests are the same–Andrew Sullivan melting down is not an attractive sight).

I watched Bill Maher before he went to network late night and really liked him. I always thought the move to ABC was a bad idea. When Maher was cancelled and moved to HBO, it’s like he felt the need to make-up for the unallowed crudeness while he was on network television. There is a definite “chip on his shoulder” that wasn’t there before.
I’ve found Maher difficult to watch for several seasons. I stopped watching alltogether after a show a couple of seasons ago where he told Al Sharpton (Sharpton was commenting on when he was a presidential candidate) to “shut-up, you’ve never been a presidential candidate”. Maher’s tone was unbelieveably nasty. Sharpton was clearly taken aback and I thought he would walk off…only then did Maher somewhat jokingly apologize.
Mind you, I’m not a Sharpton fan, but Maher’s tone was that of blatant disdain. I thought it was totally inappropriate way to treat a guest. After that, I noticed how boorish he is with many of his guests. Another example is Ann Coulter whom Maher described as a good friend…he was absolutely crass with her. I think she stopped appearing on his show.
I didn’t see the show in question; still, if Maher is that way with his guests, I can only imagine how he talks about people he dislikes. Here again, you have to consider the source when assessing those political comments (some would like to call them jokes). Maher has been stepping over the line for several seasons now.
