Olbermann would have faked apoplexy again–complete with the veins in his neck popping out. Matthews would have done his Dumb Broad routine. Cafferty would have put a question on his blog about it: “Is Sarah Palin Dumb?” The Late Night comedy shows would have had a blast with it. And Maher would have somehow turned it into a joke about her crotch.

They were not bankers, nor did they have a working concept of the financial market, they were a bunch of government bureacrats with “good intentions” looking for votes. Families there for generations next to burned out structures where people barely lived there for 15 minutes. It makes you sick. Nothing down, nothing lost. No skin in the game. I actually am not liking the tone of the comments here. Joe B hasn’t been viscious in his campaigning, and though a major political gaffe, he actually called out the visciousness of the “computer illiterate – out of touch” John McCain ad by the Obama team – straight shooting on that one.
I left the Huffington Post site during the primary because of its viscious comments toward Hillary Clinton, and the same vile stuff is going on there right now against McCain and even more so againt Palin.
How are we different if we too go down that road of ripping people up that we disagree with? I’m not sure we would be.

I agree with your point about purging the “power hungry – out of touch fools,” though I think it is more of the former than the latter that describes them. Just about everybody that had a hand in this dissastrous decade of abuse of power (look at what it has wrought – Iraq, the collapse of the financial and housing markets, etc., etc.) should be purged in my estimation. These people all need to be reminded who they are serving and that there will be consequences – kicking them the hell out. I also think we have to reclaim our party and government. It’s really out of control now and, boy, I hope we have had a major wake up call that prevents us from going back to sleep after what we have witnessed within our party and our government. It’s pretty sobering stuff, isn’t it? It’s time to be angry and fight back and take back.

McCain has a free market approach where companies can make changes and sell energy saving credits for a profit.

Talk about being a heartbeat away from the presidency. Has anyone thought about what if something happened to Obama?! He’s only released one page of this medical history; that big ole honkin’ mole on his nose could be full of cancer from smoking!
I think it’s extremely intemperate to suggest, without evidence, that Biden is a drunk.
He has said he’s a teetotaler. You’d think the media would be on that assertion if it weren’t true. After all, they love scandal that’s easily understood–mistresses, illegitimate kids, boozing, drugging, that kind of stuff.
You know how people are worried about the EXPERIENCED guy on the GOP ticket? McCain is OLD, they say–he could croak.
I’m worried about the EXPERIENCED guy on the Democratic ticket–Biden has two CLIPS in his head, that are fastened around his ANEURYSMS–the two he had years ago as a young(er) man.
Biden’s mistakes could be the result of … mini-stokes? Or something else going on in his brain.
I think it’s not something to laugh about, but instead, something to WORRY ABOUT–a HEALTH issue, possibly.

WASHINGTON — Vice presidential candidate Joe Biden says today’s leaders should take a lesson from the history books and follow fellow Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt’s response to a financial crisis.
“When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, ‘Look, here’s what happened,’ ” Barack Obama’s running mate recently told the “CBS Evening News.”
Except Republican Herbert Hoover was in office when the stock market crashed in October 1929.
FDR was elected three years later when voters denied Hoover a second term. The Democratic challenger appealed to the “forgotten man” by promising a “new deal” to solve the Depression era.
There also was no television at the time; TV wasn’t introduced to the public until a decade later, at the 1939 World’s Fair.
(here AP got it wrong, the 1928 Democratic Nominating Convention held in Houston, Texas, which elected Al Smith as their candidate for President was televised, and so it was the 1932 Democratic Nominating Convention held in Chicago, Illinois, where Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected as the Democratic candidate for President after four ballots. Joe Biden referred to this last Convention and Roosevelt’s acceptance speech, or perhaps to the Inaugural address, which was also carried on at TV station. The reporter who generated the AP piece didn’t do his homework and neither did you. Typical BS on the media. My note.)
Democrats usually like to remind the public that a Republican was president during the 1929 stock market crash and a Democrat — FDR — helped clean it up. During the 2004 presidential election, John Kerry’s campaign repeatedly cited Hoover as the last president until George W. Bush to oversee a loss of jobs during his time in office.
Biden was commenting on the stock market crash when he said leaders should explain the current economic crisis and how to solve it to the public.
“Part of what being a leader does is to instill confidence, is to demonstrate what he or she knows what they are talking about and to communicating to people … this is how we can fix this,” Biden said.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt is the only United States president to have been elected to four terms of office. FDR transformed the presidency and placed the institution at the very center of American life. During twelve years in office, Roosevelt shepherded his nation through the two greatest American crises of the twentieth century — the Great Depression and World War II — and left a legacy of political freedom and domestic security to the American people.
When Roosevelt took the oath of office on March 4, 1933, America lay in the depths of the Depression. Between 12 million and 15 million Americans, about 25 percent of the work force, were unemployed. Millions of people had lost their life’s savings. Many had lost their homes and lived in makeshift shacks. Many more stood in long lines for free soup and bread. Eleven thousand of America’s 25,000 banks had failed. Herbert Hoover, Roosevelt’s predecessor, had steered a mostly idle course through the crisis, waiting for the economy to correct itself, but the correction had not come.
Franklin Roosevelt was not the type of man who waited for events to happen. In his inaugural address, he swore to bring the nation a New Deal, and backed by a soundly Democratic Congress, he took Washington by storm. Within days of taking office, he closed the remaining banks, avoiding a run on deposits that would have finished them all. He set up a system for judging the soundness of banks and reopened the ones that were solid. He moved to put the government itself on a budget, freeing up federal dollars for relief and reform measures.

In both conventions, 1928-Houston and 1932-Chicago, and Roosevelt 1932 inaugural speech, W2XB, also branded WGY-TV for its sister radio station, carried the proceedings (General Electric, experimental station, Started transmissions in May 10, 1928, under experimental license). W2XB is currently WRGB, in the NY/Albany market.
Interesting that Joe Biden and Barack Obama seem to know what they are talking about but are being accused of lack of experience or wrong experience, whatever… While John McCain and Sarah Palin keep showing that they don’t know what they are talking about and don’t have plans, but they are exalted as the saviors for our troubles… Right, Jesus and Mary Magdalene re-incarnated to lead us into rapture…
