The 2006 Senate measure passed by UNANIMOUS CONSENT (I can't find ANY record of a "vote" in the Senate). Incidentally, that measure was to REauthorize the bill (and the measure had a wide deal of support on BOTH sides of the aisle; the House version, which was the version signed by Dubya, was sponsored by a REPUBLICAN). As for DOMA, he did NOT vote "against" the bill; it was passed before he even entered the Senate. (I had to correct a state Union newsletter for giving Obama credit for voting against NAFTA when he never had the chance to vote on the measure.) I also cannot find ANY record of ANY DOMA-related legislation coming before the Senate since Obama took office in 2004 that resulted in a VOTE. (Incidentally, Obama was "for DOMA before he was against it". He didn't come on the pro-repeal bandwagon until early 2004--this from a CHICAGO gay newspaper report.) If Obama REALLY wants to repeal DOMA and DADT, maybe he should have spent SOME of his time in the Senate working towards those repeals.
