Some C.S. on the Emergency Bill
By SusanUnPC on September 28, 2008 at 6:35 AM in ACORN, Christopher Dodd, Economy, Housing & Housing Crisis, Nancy Pelosi
My neighbor, with some input from me, penned this letter to our senators and representative today:
Please participate in rescuing our economy. I realize you are being deluged by angry people who object to the “bailout” but the results of NOT acting are so dire that we need you to act courageously on this. The only thing I object to is the inclusion of any measures to give monies to disreputable groups like Acorn. Low-income and minorities do need help (I’m retired on a fixed income so I know). But surely such measures can be addressed in additional legislation later, if need be. Right now, we need to make sure that our nation’s businesses STAY in business!
And here’s some common sense clearly laid out by Ed Morrissey, late afternoon and evening, September 27th. Morrissey asks the same question I have: WHY, for god’s sake, are Democratic senate and house members demanding Acorn hand-outs when the national house is on fire? Don’t miss Ed’s remarks below the fold.
House GOP rejects latest bailout proposal; Update: Pelosi wants deal in principle by tonight
Too many ornaments on the left’s Christmas tree, with the star on top being Chris Dodd’s preposterous proposal to make sure ACORN gets a cut of the income from each distressed asset sold at a profit even if distressed assets in the aggregate are sold at a loss. They’ve got a little more than 24 hours to pass a bill before the markets in Asia open Monday; Roy Blunt thinks if they don’t have it done by then, there won’t be a deal until late next week. Any problem with that? Read Bill Kristol’s latest at the Standard and have a paper bag handy, as you’ll need it to breathe. Publicly, at least, Fortis denies it’s at risk of going under and claims it has liquidity to spare. Kristol claims two sources who say otherwise and foresees bank runs in the U.S. from the shockwave if it happens — bailout or no bailout. (Roughly half of all Belgian households have accounts with Fortis, according to Reuters.)
We’ve reached the point where even the Journal is sufficiently worried to beg for relief:
Susan’s Note at 12:25 p.m. ET: Sorry about the confusing indentations below. I had trouble getting our blog editor to indent the paragraphs properly, but have fixed it so you should be able, now, to tell who’s saying what:
Then Morrissey quotes from the WSJ editorial:
No one tried harder than we did to avoid arriving at this pass, but now that we’re here our vote is that this government intervention is justified to defend the system…
The libertarian blogs are full of tut-tutting that the economy has held up surprisingly well, and for a year we’ve been arguing the same thing. But there’s no guarantee this will continue, especially as unemployment climbs and as evidence grows that banking distress is squeezing credit to small and big business alike. Credit spreads over Treasurys are back at agonizing levels, as investors and lenders flee from even plain vanilla risks.
Nobel economics laureate Gary Becker is no alarmist, but this week he wrote on his blog, “I have reluctantly concluded that substantial intervention was justified to avoid a major short-term collapse of the financial system that could push the world economy in a major depression.” Anyone who thinks that capitalism will fare better after a crash should recall that the 1930s didn’t end politically until 1980…
The Paulson idea also seems better than the “insurance” plan for bank assets that House Republicans are now proposing. That idea would still put taxpayers at risk if the assets fall in value, but with little potential upside. Meanwhile, the assets would remain on bank books, making it that much harder for banks to raise private capital and resume normal lending.
The House GOP intervention may still be fortuitous if it focuses on killing the many Democratic ideas that are making the Paulson plan worse.
Morrissey continues:
Indeed, which raises the question of why Dodd et al. are demanding handouts to ACORN when there’s a developing national emergency to deal with. … (Read all.)
Why indeed.
In updates, Morrissey includes some disturbing news:
Update: Pelosi wants something to look at by tonight. I honestly wonder what the public reaction’s going to be if they stay deadlocked, the market drops 2,000 points on Monday, and people start running on banks. Confidence in government will be even lower than confidence in the markets, which means political destabilization. But what will that look like?
Update: Don’t look now but there’s panic brewing in Britain as well, with a major bank in danger of being nationalized on Monday.
And knuckleheads like Chris Dodd are creating a roadblock with demands to reward Acorn? Dodd who, as chair of the Senate Banking committee, should have been minding the store last fall and winter instead of embarking on his quixotic presidential campaign in Iowa’s primary that ended in an embarrassingly miniscule percentage of the vote?
Why? Why? Why? I’d really like to know why Chris Dodd thinks that the pay-out to a corrupt organization like Acorn is worth risking worldwide financial panic.

You read news stories and there is no mention of acorn. Why isn’t it being made a cantral point in negotiations?
FOX is dealing with it.
Family didn’t want Obama to wear bracelet and use dead son’s name in politics:
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/warner-todd-huston/2008/09/28/family-told-obama-not-wear-soldier-sons-bracelet-where-media
ouch. thats not good for barry…oh wait the MSM will never report it. He can do what he wants, even if its disrespecting the wishes of the father and mother of the dead soldier he used do disengeniously to try to me too mccain.
Barack Obama…Turd + Lipstick
Maybe we should have the Barky police in Missouri look into this? hahahaha Yeah, sure. All of the lies are ABOUT him?
After the Democratic party shenanigans and Hillary was forced to kiss the ring at the DNC convention, my vote for JSM was a done deal. Then I watched the Republican convention and realized that I LIKED those people. Palin was a gender bonus. Between the bailout for Acorn and the rest of this, I am dangerously close to going from Democrat to Independent to Republican and never looking back.
The Gestapo never went after the people they worked for Beebop.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5tZc8oH–o
beebop - I find myself in the same surprising situation…from Hillary…to considering Mcain…to really liking Mccain/Palin..to taking a second look at other Republicans. Perhaps both parties are shifting - certainly there is nothing for me to admire in Howard Dean, Harry Reid, or Nancy Pelosi or the whole DNC gang (not to mention Barney Frank and Chris Dodd). I believe George Washington was president before there even was a two-party system, and Lincoln was a Republican. Hmmmm….I think I’m rethinking the whole party line. Country First!
I’ve come to the realization (thanks Barky, you did a good thing here for a change) that it is the person, not the party. If someone is a scumbag, it doesn’t matter what letter is next to their name. Their interest is not with doing good for the American people.
I have started asking the people who just abhor my decision to vote (gulp) republican after 8 years of Bush this questions:
Do you really think our country is in such a mess because of the republican platform, all the fault of pro life, pro gun, tax breaks for the wealthy? Or is it more because of the person, George W. Bush, who has acted like a spoiled brat and never has to be held accountable for wrong doing? Would September 11th happened if not for Georgie’s daddy complex? Would September 11th have happened if Al Gore had been elected?
No one can honestly answer that it isn’t all about the personality and character of the leader.
It’s not the R or the D that matters. It’s about who’s got our backs. John McCain and Sarah Palin are going to watch America’s back. Barack Obama as per usual will turn his back on us. That is his record.
Come on folks, it’s now up to us to keep on cutting and pasting these stories to the media, local news included. There has got to be some news outlet out there that are disgusted by this kind of crap. To Barry Soetoro, the bracelet = Greek columns…it’s all for show.
I just wrote to the Department of Justice. Why haven’t they done something with A.C.O.R.N. long ago.
We know they gamed the primaries. Does it take an Einstein to figure this group out. They have been active for a very long time.
Maybe someone should investigate Dodd. When did our politicians become so blatantly corrupt. For years it was hidden. Now the crooks are out in the open.
Dodd needs to be indicted.
here is a great link to BCC letters to the media. http://www.rumormillnews.com/MEDIA_EMAIL_ADDRESSES.htm
Send them to everyone you know.
ask them to share with their entire address list.
Eventually it gets out there.
Maybe a good video maker should respectfully contact that father and make a video we can make go viral.

Send this article in to Fox News maybe they’ll report it.

FOX ON AYERS NOW
what are they saying?
Some of us have cancelled out cable in disgust with the main stream media.
STANLEY KURTZ IS ON exposing deep ties to Ayers on the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, Ayer’s “Collaberative” group, radical education project, and The Peace School. Nobama and Ayers sat on at least 3 boards together and Ayer’s picked Obama for Chicago Annenberg Challenge Chair/board, which in turn FUNDED Ayer’s abovementioned projects.
sweet.
Time for Barry to start righting a speech about home grown terrorists he can not disown and how our white american guilt is responsible for it.
why is it only FOX? The people I want to hear these things do not watch FOX.
I didn’t realize putting out a petition may have been the wrong way to go so I won’t do that again. I want to say thanks to everyone who signed the petition to keep the ACORN payout out of the Bail out Bill because it may have had an impact.
At this time the ACORN payout has been removed from the Bail out Bill. However it could be added back before the signing.
Please continue to call you House and Senate reps and tell them something like this:
Do not add a payout to ACORN or any like organizations into the Bail out Bill. All profits should be paid out to the “Tax Payers” and towards paying off the United States deficit. The links bbelow will assist you in finding your reps names.

The state of Connecticut better wise up, and quickly, to the ways of Chris Dodd and Barack Obama before the general election. Both are all about personal greed and corruption and both should now be investigated regarding Acorn, just as Acorn is being investigated. Wake up, people, before it’s too late!
ok this may sound too simple for words but you ask
why, why, why, why????
my suggestion is quit asking why and go ask DODD yourself!!!
take up a collection (I’ll give you 20) to send someone that is CLOSE enough to get to Dodd by car or train and storm his office and demand some answers!!!!
Those determined pink ladies manage to show up everywhere! Plus did I miss the link to his website where we can bitch at his stupid butt???
or even a phone number? I’ll call HIM mYselF!!!
Let’s quit bitching and do something about it!

FOX reporting on ACORN fraud in West.
More following.
COLORADO– ACORN investigations in voter reg in WI, OH, New Mexico, NC , OH and WA.
Fraudulent voter registrations in all these states.
False names, SS numbers, duplicate SS numbers, wrong addresses.
NO PROSECUTIONS,despite being turned over to US District Attorneys.
Time to email Attorney General.
You know, during our first caucus here in CO, they busted over 300 people for attending and voting in the caucus without Democrat affiliation (they were Independents, Repubs, or not registered). From the start of our caucus, the precinct captains kept of saying it was a federal crime if anyone vote without being registered as a Dem but yet it happened. To this day, haven’t heard of any prosecutions from the event. There is no one watching over our process and when someone does notice, it falls on deaf ears. This is Barack America, everything is just for show.
Vinnie,
What county were you in? I heard this in the Adams County caucus? AND I have not heard of any prosecutions either.
Does no one care about rules?
OOPS, I’m sorry Donna Brazile’s mother taught her to follow the rules–at least the ones she likes.
Stop the hate–that’s the message I got in a personal email from her to me when I asked to to allow Florida and Michigan’s votes.
they have to pay them back for corruption, voter fraud , and i bet dollars to donuts, they have accounts set up for them under others name..so dodd, and obama , can work us over and if you dont believe it you are fools look at what they have gotten away with, there is information easy to find about their being the reason for the collapse and it doesnt get reported, just like edwards, if not for the enquirer he would probably be still scamming us out of money and giving it to his misstress//
Thank God the National Enquirer is supposedly investigating the Annenburg Challenge. There are no other investigative journalists left.
FOX seems to know stuff, but they are toying with us. I just pray they slam him soon. Time to pound the hammer guys! Stop torturing us!

ACORN is gone.

If I may say so, what a nutty provision. Dodd was squirrely to propose it in the first place.
Hats off to all the bloggers who put a spotlight on this atrocious provision.

A MUST READ…
I just heard that they had something worked out. Is this not true?
That was late last night around midnight EDT.
4 USA democratic senators off publicizing themselves ALL 2007.
Plus McCain - thats 5% of the Senate .
Not surprising the overseeers were away & the cats played.
The latest weekly polls from Gallup has very interesting information that nobody is reporting on. McCain support among independents started to creep up. For months now it has been around 30% but last week, one of McCain worse according to Gallup, the number has gone up to 38% where as Obama went back to 24%. Obama has never done well with independents. That is a 14% advantage for McCain.
Now lets look at party identification in 2008 Sep 8-11 (according to Gallup) 32% republican, 31% independents, 35% democrats. By the way, this is the highest for the republicans since 2006 Jul 28-30. So if you figure that the support among democrats and republicans are about the same for their candidates respectively then Obama would have about a 3 point lead over McCain. Now add in the independents where McCain is way ahead and you see how McCain has a major advantage in this race that is not reflected in the polls. Actually just the opposite is being portrayed.
Now lets look at the 2004 election break down by party affiliation. 37% Democrats, 37% Republicans, 26% independents. 89% of democrats voted for Kerry and 93% of republicans voted for Bush. Independents split 49% to 48% for Kerry. The DNC was much more united in 2004 then it is now. (Exit Polls) http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/results/president/
With the selection of Palin the republican base energized and firmly united. Democrats and maybe even independents don’t like her that much. On a side not ,the MSM is trying its best to tare her down. I guess they did not like the fact that she does no want to talk to them. I have a feeling that once McCain/Palin get elected the MSM will be shutout completely from the McCain administration. So the MSM is fighting for its life here. Getting back to the Palin effect, she will assure that the republicans going to have a very strong showing in this election because of her conservative credentials. The republicans have long held that the MSM has a bias and anything they say will be looked at as biased reporting.
So the turnout in percentage will be pretty much as it was in 2004 and that will work toward McCain’s advantage since independence break for him at a much larger margin then they did for Bush. Plus, add in the fact that there are millions of democrats that voted for Hillary and will not vote for Obama because they don’t trust him and so have no choice then to vote for McCain to ensure that he does not get into office. Now why do the polls not reflect this? Because they have a 10 point bias for Obama. They will start adjusting these numbers as the we get closer to election to reflect what is truly going on. This is by far the crazies election and the most manipulated of any that I have seen.
The latest weekly polls from Gallup

Thanks, John. Numbers give me some hope.
I could be wrong but I just don’t see how this guy could get elected. There is no real enthusiasm about him where I live in FL and the area I live in was a big Kerry supporter. Yes there are Obama signs but nothing like it was in 2004. I think the support for him is not as strong as the MSM makes it out to be. For one, I don’t support him nor does my wife and we were very strong Kerry supporters. My brother lives in FL as well and he told me that in central Florida nobody can stand Obama. In the miami he will not get the Cuban vote because his stance on Castro. So the polls can say what they want he will not win Florida. After all they had plenty of polls that said Kerry will win Florida as well and we were really hopping but at the end he lost by 5 points.
He is rigging the vote. Look up what ACORN does, and how many states it has been busted in for voter fraud.
I think that voter registrations should not be accepted from ACORN. ACORN should be dissolved.
I agree… something very foul is afoot with the Dems this year
Proof of Voter Fraud:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mq9WVuKGwOM
Obama will try to rig votes, and the MSM will try to depress voter turnout. If McCain gets his base to turnout in large numbers and can sway Independents, he stands a good chance to win. He is without doubt the underdog in this race, but he is also the most likely winner.
I’m a long-time Democrat in Florida who voted for Kerry too; I’ll be voting for McCain because of the shenanigans of the Democratic party, the inexperience of an arrogant Obama, and my respect for McCain. I don’t see much support for Obama here either but I am very worried about the impact of the disgustingly biased media: not only the complete disconnect between the candidates’ performance in the first debate and the way the media is spinning it; but now, I noticed after a trip to the grocery store, the gutter press is knocking down everything to do with McCain and Palin on a personal level, while continuing with the happy-happy stories of a smiling Obama. It sickens me and worries me about how it will affect voters in general.
I don’t think that people will be voting based on what tabloids are saying. If that was true Bush would have never gotten elected a second time.
I live in west central Florida, and I can tell you that with democrats & independants it’s about 3 to 1 in favor of McCain.
I agree with you. i think the enthusiasm has always been overinflated. this entire year I have not known anyone who is gaga over gumby. The ones I do know who will vote for him are not really excited about him after the wright thing, the fISA vote, the publci financing, etc. They are lukewarm at best now. They will vote for him, but aren’t thrilled and have all said they regret that it is not Hillary. In my own circle of friends, coworkers, neighbors, McCain is winning about 75 or 80%. Now yes, I know alot of democrats and some of them did not vote for Kerry, but this is a stark difference from most years. Most years my circle is strongly for the dem. Not this time. You would have to think that many republicans have shifted to Obama and I just don’t see how that would ever happen.
The only way Obama wins is by cheating. Just like his life story, his whole campaign has been a lie, too. I doubt he even had the real votes claimed. I strongly believe that republicans helped him early on so he would be the nominee. Of course they wanted to be against him. They can beat him with both hands tied behind thier backs.
Does anyone see the absolute glee is Karl Rove’s eyes? even when he’s trying to bash McCain, he cannot hide the extreme joy!
Just a note here from ObamaLand aka Marin County.
In CA Obama is king. We are lifelong Dems voting McCain/Palin but since I don’t dare put their sticker on my car I put a Nader sticker next to my Hillary sticker.
People here are totally in love with BO. They can’t stand Palin. Because we just don’t talk politics much though, anymore, I wonder if there are more secret McCain voters like us.
Next county north…same here.
Most pollsters have FL going for McCain. Of course that was before the mortage crisis.
Thank you so much for this factual information, something the MSM seems to no longer report—the facts! It IS disheartening and somewhat unbelievable to read the polls each day and NOT see a bump for McCain, even after all agree that he won the first debate. Now you have explained the reason why… once again, media bias, manipulation and propaganda. I am so tired of it, and I hope all of America by this point can see through it all and support McCain in November. BTW, I’m a lifelong Dem, voting for McCain, and probably changing my party affiliation after the GE.
sounds like a mini landslide for McCain/Palin to me!!
YippEEE!
I can’t wait to watch Donna,Jamal,Jack,Tanya,Roland,Keith,Tweety,DavidShitster & the rest of the “crooks4barry” go POSTAL when their messiah loses biggggggggggggg time!!
And a warning to them to NOT blame it on racism! It’s only backfired on them so far. Dig that grave a little deeper ya nit-wits! The country is NOT where you are and NOT ready to give it away to ACORN or anything from the Southside of Chicago (not yet and not ever far as I’m concerned)
Tell your elite staff to go stuff TP up their noses! The free ride is O V E R! Time to WIPE the drool off your mouth.
Maybe we will see their heads exploding one by one as McCain is announced the winner.
Oh Yeah. Now that’s a soothing vision. McCain wins, Barkey is indicted for embezzlement of Federal Funds and kicked out of the senate for not being a natural born citizen/or citizen at all.
This has to be a landslide to offset the vote stealing by Barky, Acorn and their thugs. Drug dealers are collecting registrations and if you are not voting for Obama they do not submit the registrations. They have your social security # though.
what a mess.
Mars Attacks?
Very well done SusanUnpc. Thanks
In the media the painted Obama as doing better with the independents than Hillary. Not according to these boards. I remember they said HRC beat Barack in New Hampshire, because John McCain took all the independents. LOL what did they think was going to happen in the GE.
Independents went heavily for Hillary but it wasn’t figured into the polls.
I think the bailout bill is BS.
Example: My wife’s best friend at work makes $25,000 a year. She received a loan on a house that cost $150,000. Her payments were a little over $700/month. She bought a car with $300/month payments. She is in foreclosure now on her house and her car was repo’d.
Why in the world would any bank give anyone that high of loans on someone with a bring home pay of about $1,400/month? That is $400/month for utilities, food, fuel, emergencies. She has a 17 year old child.
According to the bailout, they are going to lower the principle or interest or both to keep people in their homes.
My house is worth S100,000. My wife and I make about $50,000/year. We pay our bills and don’t get what we can’t afford.
How is this fair? My wife loves her house, but we can’t afford something like her house. How is that fair?
Someone is going to get basically an awesome house for a lot less money than the average person who pays their bills.
Where is Mccain to stick up for the honest hard woking people?
This bailout really sucks. It was caused by democrats and noone is going to jail for their fraud on the American people.
Example:
Two years ago when my daughter was shopping for a house, she was approved for a huge amount of money. She knew she couldn’t afford the payments on a $150,000 house on her income, so she bought a $70,000 house instead. If she hadn’t been smart and known what she could afford, she would a statistic right now. Thank God we raised her with some common sense.
Why did this mess happen? Greed. Plain and simple.
They make me sick.
And now we have Democrats standing in the way of this economic rescue by trying to add their stupid pork. Blaming it on the Republicans because they’re listening to their voters and saying NO.
The Democrats say they have “a verbal agreement”, I’ve read differently. With the MSM on their side, they can continue their assault on the American people. I really can’t believe this is happening.
I was preapproved for a much bigger mortgage too and I said no thanks, I knew I couldn’t afford it. I asked the mortgage company, where in the world did they come up w that amount??
I took my mother of another mortgage last week. We needed some house repairs. My mom is a sneior citizen and mind you was just looking at the loan, not what she would have to pay. The loan officer practically begged mom to take it. I got mom to cancel it. I don’t know what would have happened if I wasn’t there.
What about a small line of equity credit from a local bank? Reverse mortgage with no payments? Those are bad. They wipe out the equity.
Reverse Mortgages are bad because they eliminate the equity? Not all equity is lost with a reverse mortgage. On top of that, to many seniors having left-over equity in their house after they die isn’t an issue to them. It’s not like they can take that equity with them when they leave this fine planet.
If they want to tap equity to improve their quality of life by taking trips, affording better health care, gifting it to their kids, setting up a college fund for grandkids etc… Who are you to say that’s a bad deal for them?
I’m consistently amazed at the misleading comments made on reverse mortgages on the interwebz.
First of all, you are the exception rather than the rule. Too many people would buy more house than they could afford once the initial low rate adjusted upward. The assumption was that either their income would increase sufficiently to cover it, or that they would be able to refinance again and again based upon double digit appreciation in home prices. The “emergency” has been building for years, and no one noticed, or cared, and now it is too late.
Here is a good editorial from the
Worker’s Daily WorldBoston Globe detailing the actions of the main culprit in this mess.http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/editorial_opinion/oped/articles/2008/09/28/franks_fingerprints_are_all_over_the_financial_fiasco/?p1=Well_MostPop_Emailed1
Realtors, boards of realtors, regional, state and national boards of realtors noticed. Of course they noticed. But didn’t care. Didn’t care one bit. Why? Because they loved the money. Realtors are the ones who made the most money. But since it was as people like to say, wealth spread among many, distributed wealth, everyone thought it was justified.
Distributed wealth, like in socialism, like in the stock market, like in government programs; as long as they are distributed, people feel they are justified, even when the most egregious and immoral forms of greedy deception and hurtful schemes are practiced.
When wealth is distributed everybody in the receiving end likes it.
I was a realtor until this spring, and a lot of us went for the $$. I tried to stay away from the risky stuff as the headaches were not worth it. If I got a customer with a too good to be true pre-approval I would refer them to a reputable lender, try presenting an offer with no money down and an East-West pre-approval, if one of those came on my listing I would advise the sellers to counter with a request for a different pre-approval from a real bank. But remember, it was people like Frank that forced the underwriting of bad loans, 100% financing, even 105-110% financing for “improvements” when the additional money went to excessive fees. Look at the fact that Barney Frank has received almost $500K from the finance/insurance and real estate PACS this year.
http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/pacs.php?cycle=2008&cid=N00000275
That is almost 75% of the PAC money going to him in total, whose agenda do you think he supports, mine, or theirs?
I got out of the business for good as I saw too many people getting in trouble with bad deals.
We bought our house 3 years ago right in the middle of the bidding war frenzy. I was so disgusted having to buy an overpriced house. We had just moved back to the U.S. after living overseas and home prices had more than doubled in our five years away from the area. I put my foot down when we made an offer for the asking price of our house and our realtor wanted us to sign a clause that we could bid higher against another offer that was made. Luckily the seller didn’t want to deal with a bidding war either and accepted our offer, but the seller didn’t have to fix anything that the inspector found wrong with the house either. The greed was unreal.
LOL@ workers daily world
(snicker)
comrade!
Thanks
They will endorse him for Congress again and again and again.
Nice reference and cogent thoughts, Kevin. Thanks.
I agree and they’re slick about it too. The more I think about it the more I think some of these banks are purposely trying to cause this crisis to lower the values of homes.
My daughter and her husband have been in their home just 10 months and have gone from 4% to 11% in that time. Explain that one…She said they out and out lied to us, they said it would fix at 7% and wouldn’t go any higher and the max it would climb is 2% a year.
We tried to warn them. Now some broker told them to get us to do a short sale and get a fixed rate because they can’t refinance right now. Their home has already depreciated in value more than 100,000 than they paid for it, plus they have no equity being in it less than a year. They’re going to have to tough it out, till we see what’s actually going to happen with the economy.
Get a loan modification. They were swindled out of 100,000. It looks like the mortgage company made a total of 6%.
Look, all of this problems lie at the foot of pastors and preachers in this country. They like to preach that Jesus forgive their sins with just a 2 to 10 seconds prayer and walla back in heaven and grace to you. Pastors and preachers, not one, beginning with Joel, but all of them, none told the Realtors and mortgage brokers in their churches not to tithe their dirty money. None told their politicians and bureaucrats not to tithe their dirty money. Everyone can do the most malicious things, hurt other as much as they like and walla, with a 2 to 10 second ‘forgive me God in the name of Jesus Christ my savior’ wow I feel good now. So now there are no standards and wrong is right and right is wrong and the most vile of conduct is just child’s play. We have a candidate for president that is a pathological liar and people are incapable of seeing it or caring about it.
I know there are some pastors like that, but I also know several personally who are not like that at all. That kind of reasoning you’re talking about has a particular name that has slipped my mind–it’s one of the heresies. But it’s all caught up in the question about “backsliding.” The problem is that people really don’t know how covoluted and complicated Christian theology has become over the centuries.
I know some very good Christian ministers, pastors, and priests.
Well, when Nancy Pelosi can joke about Hank Paulson being a Catholic when he kneels before her begging for a bailout, and she and Joe Biden cite Thomas of Aquinas’ Summa Theologica, St. Augustine or any number of excuses as a Catholic argument in favor of abortion, you have politicians playing fast and loose with faith. The Pope doesn’t stand for cafeteria Catholics, but this election will test their faith. There are consequences for your actions, whether you accept that or not.
why did your wife’s best friend get a $150k mortgage on a $25k salary and a $300 car pmt? I don’t feel one bit sorry for people like that. I could have got a bigger house too but didn’t because I knew I couldn’t afford it.
You’re right, it isn’t fair. The only thing they should do to help homeowners is get them a fixed rate at the prevailing rate. If they still cannot afford the house payment, then out the door you go. They may as well sell it at a loss because for one the house was likely overpriced when she bought it. And if they let her stay in it she still is not going to be able to make the payments anyway.
rapp and Sue: First, I am not an economist. But I have read a lot trying to understand this. The problem is not mostly or even really about low income people getting loans they could not repay. Bad loans have always been made and any foreclosures were dealt with by someone, banks, and insurance companies buying up foreclosures. But it was on a much smaller scale than what has happened recently.
The following timeline comes from the blog Newsstand. On a few points it is disingenuous and is trying to lay blame. But, nevertheless, it is a decent enough timeline.
I have bolded (and all emphasis is mine alone) some of the key things where the problem lies in this current crisis.
“President Carter creates a program to make home ownership available to low income people though Fannie Mae.
2. President Clinton makes changes to the program to make home ownership even more available to low income people through Fannie Mae.
3. Former Clinton White House Budget Director, Franklin Raines, becomes CEO of Fannie Mae. Raines cooks the books and as a result receives tens of millions of dollars in bonuses.
4. Raines is kicked out and replaced by future Obama campaign insider, Jim Johnson, who runs Fannie Mae into the ground and also walks away with millions.
5. The Bush Administration and House and Senate Republicans (including Sen. McCain) sound alarm bells on problems at Fannie Mae. They are attacked by House and Senate Democrats (including Barney Frank) for using “scare tactics”.
6. Wall Street buys mortgages from Fannie Mae not knowing their values have been cooked. They bundle them into securities.
7. As interests rate rise and gas price go up many home owners begin to default on their loans.
8. Wall Street and the rest of the world begin to realize the mortgage backed securities are worthless.9. The taxpayer bail out Bears Stern, Fannie and Freddie and AIG. The taxpayer is put on the hook for another 300 billion to help home owners who are being foreclosed on.
10. Paulsen tell us we need 700 billion or more or the world ends.”
*****
My commentary: Carter’s program was an attempt to end the bank practice of redlining, which at the time was clearly unethical and discriminatory. But as with all good intention, when put in the hands of human beings things often go awry. For years the program worked fairly successfully. Yes, the program was expanded by Bill Clinton. And yes, Franklin Raines was in his administration. But he was not an evil man nor was he trying to hurt people.
It is what happened AFTER his administration that created this mess. People started to get greedy, including Raines, Jim Johnson, Fannie and Freddie, Franks, Dodd, Pelosi, Reid, and others in banks, mortgage companies, people who bought and sold these loans.
It is THAT mess we have to clean up now. It is the mess the insiders made.
And yes. It is not fair. But as my dad always told me life is not fair. Get used to it.
The alternative to fixing this immediate problem will mean we will go into a depression the likes of which we have never seen in history. I don’t want to go through that. I don’t want anyone to go through this. I don’t want my country to go through this. The entire economic system will collapse around us. You will suffer. I will suffer. There will be no money. There will be no jobs. Electricity suppliers may not be able to supply electricity. Our lives as we know then will be endangered. And this is no scare tactic.
So I plead with you and all other Americans to stay angry and pissed, and store the energy from that anger, but to also see the necessity of this action and save our lives, our economy, and our country.
Then when we can take a breather again, take that stored anger and go out on election day AND VOTE THESE BASTARDS OUT OF OFFICE and I suggest voting for McCain because at least he tried to stop this before it got this far.
Because all is required right a wrong is a little 5 second prayer.
Caused by the need to prop up the Bush tacx cuts with a card house of giveaways so ‘everyone’ could be happy….
the old ratio for buying a house was 2.5 times income
THAT was thrown out of the window by the Dems in 1994
Backlash to Obama officials squelching political speech
Law enforcement threats, intimidation likened to ‘police-state tactics,’ by Missouri governor

Gov. Matt Blunt
Following legal threats by Missouri state law-enforcement officials supporting Barack Obama against presidential campaign ads that appeared to be false or misleading, Gov. Matt Blunt today likened the intimidation to “police state tactics.”
“St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign,” said Blunt in a statement released today. “What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment.”
The statement came after the law enforcement officials pledged to form a “truth squad” to halt ads that, among other things, claimed Obama was not a Christian or that he was not planning to cut taxes on Americans other than the wealthy.
“If they’re not going to tell the truth, somebody’s got to step up and say, ‘That’s not the truth. This is the truth,’” McCullogh told KMOV-TV in St. Louis.
The effort appeared to be part of a move by the Obama campaign to block advertisements to which it objects. The campaign also sent “threatening” letters to several news agencies in Pennsylvania and Ohio demanding they stop airing ads exposing Obama’s gun stance, according to the National Rifle Association.
“This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson,” said Blunt. “I can think of nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights. The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election.”
Blunt concluded: “Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts – not a free society.”
(Story continues below)
The NRA’s Political Victory Fund also condemned the effort as censorship.
“Barack Obama and his campaign are terrified of the truth,” said Chris W. Cox, chairman of organization. “Sen. Obama’s statements and support for restricting access to firearms, raising taxes on guns and ammunition and voting against the use of firearms for self-defense in the home are a matter of public record. NRA-PVF will make sure that everyone knows of Obama’s abysmal record on guns and hunting.”
The Obama campaign declined to respond to a WND request for comment.
The NRA said Obama sent “cease and desist letters” to news outlets in the two states, “denouncing the ads and demanding their removal from the airwaves.”
“Barack Obama would be the most anti-gun president in our nation’s history. That’s the truth,” said Cox. “NRA-PVF has the facts on our side. No amount of running from or lying about his record and then intimidating news outlets in the hope of deceiving American gun owners and hunters is going to work. Those strong arm tactics may work in Chicago, but not in Pennsylvania and Ohio, and not as long as NRA-PVF has anything to say about it.”
The warnings were from Obama lawyer Robert Bauer, who told station managers that in order to stay in the Federal Communication commission’s good graces, they should not air the ads.
Josh Marquis, an Oregon prosecutor who serves as a spokesman for the NDAA, said the comments from Missouri don’t sound like the McCulloch he knows.
“I’m really surprised. I know Bob,” Marquis told WND.
The KMOV report said the Obama campaign asked members of Missouri’s law enforcement to target anyone who “lies” or issues misleading television ads. Formation of the Obama “Truth Squad” was the result, the report said.
McCulloch declined to return a call from WND seeking comment.
The KMOV report said the campaign was being conducted by McCulloch and another prosecutor, Jennifer Joyce, along with a number of sheriffs throughout the state.
“They will be reminding voters that Barack Obama is a Christian who wants to cut taxes for anyone who makes less than $250,000 a year. They also say they plan to respond immediately to any ads and statements that violate Missouri’s ethics laws,” the report said.
“We want to keep this campaign focused on issues,” Joyce told the station. “We don’t want people to get distracted. Missourians don’t want to be distracted by the divisive character attacks.”
The campaign was assembled to “set the record straight,” they said.
Officials with the Missouri Sheriff’s Association declined to talk about any sheriffs who might be involved in the campaign.
At the blog Gateway Pundit, the reaction was immediate.
“St. Louis and Missouri Democrat sheriffs and top prosecutors are planning to go after anyone who makes false statements against Obama during his campaign. This is so one-sided I can’t even [begin] to describe how wrong this agenda is,” writes blogger Jim Hoft.
Hoft said Joyce and McCulloch “are threatening to bring libel charges against those who speak out falsely against Barack Obama.”
Missouri blogger Doctor Bulldog commented: “Don’t think they will stop with just the local radio and television stations. Oh, no. We bloggers are NEXT on the chopping block! It doesn’t matter if it is the truth. It only matters if Obama deems it a lie (i.e. – something that can cause damage to his bid to be president). Basically, NO ONE is free to criticize Obama here in Missouri!!!”
In the St. Louis Examiner, a commentary said, “Look, politicians are all about lies. It may be annoying (I find it entertaining), but that’s for their opponents and good-government groups to counter – not law enforcement. … Even if the officeholders joining the ‘truth squad’ are nominally stepping out of their official roles in order to put on their (political) party hats and play politics, it’s inappropriate. They wield too much power to use it to wag their fingers at people who say un-nice things about political hopefuls. Prosecutors and sheriffs are, after all, normally thought of as people with the clout to put their targets behind bars.”
Marquis told WND politicians keep their right to have a political opinion and express it, but the DA’s organization strives hard not to be partisan.
The the 2nd amendement and freedom of speech are at risk. Our constitution is threatened and there is no mistaking it now. There Absolutely will be a doing away of the bill of rights and our freedom if Barky gets in. Make no mistake about it.
Obamanazi and his cohorts are being blatant now and they don’t try to hide their thuggery anymore. You can bet all the TV stations have been threatened long ago.
Someone needs to look into the backround of Barky’s lawyers. Obamacans need to see the truth that their freedon is stake and need to repent and come over to the other side.
I know something has to be done, but I agree it is not fair. I am a single mother with 2 teenage sons. I had a house when I got divorced and so I have kept it. It has been hard at times and so I went back to school and about doubled my income. I am doing that again. Unitl my income went over $40,000 per year, I was constantly solicited by mortgage lenders telling me that I qualifed for ungodly mortgages. As much as $450,000 by doing an interets only for 5 years or a balloon payment deal. They offered me any different mortgages that I knew were beyond my means and they would persist and say, well, you have 5 years to increase your income or after the 5 years you can sell it and move into something else. It was all ridiculous. I would have had to quadruple or quintuple my income to stay in a house like that. Who does that in 5 years? It also didn’t seem like fun to move from a $450,000 house to a $150,000 house later, having just a temporary life of luxury. Not to mention the taxes and other expenses. I know because they pretty much harrassed me. This is the fault of the banks and the stupid people wanting the pie in the sky falicy. No one thinking ahead. I think that some people were seriously misled, but I think most were just stupid! I think the government should put them in some temporary housing, let them lose their homes and sell those properties to builders. I also think the banks should be allowed to fail to get rid of the financiers who knew it wouldn’t turn out so well. The government can help start up some new banks with new regulations. This is just an invitation for it to happen again and again. Make people and businesses suffer and don’t reward them!
I do not believe there is much of a choice on the bailout. It could mean an economical disaster if the housing prices keep falling. However, there is no assurances this will work. Everything they have done up to this point has not really worked. So I don’t see why this should. It might look good on paper but to go through the millions of mortgages is going to be impossible. I think it will just delay the inevitable by a few weeks. But the economy is going to crash eventually. There is no amounts of money in the world that can fix this problem.
If foreigners pour into our country with Euros and buy up all our real estate assets at a discount to them, then that will stabilize house prices. Nice, isn’t it? Americans need to sell their homes to foreigners an then they will be okay.
In a way that is the best that can happen. First it will teach us a lesson. We will learn to prioritize and demand and education for the promise of an education. We need to learn to value what’s important and devalue glitter, specially when glitter comes in the form of an Obama.
Don’t forget the European banks are on the hook for this as well. I talked to a rep at Schwab the other day and he told me the UBS (swiss company) might fail as well. There is rumor that a major bank in England will be nationalized which essentially means that it collapsed. There is major bank in Holland that is also in trouble. I think the Europeans will have their hands full trying to manage their own mess. Plus the economy over there is not in a very good shape. They have something like 10% unemployment. We might get that here as well if Obama gets elected. Asia is in very bad economical situation as well. My wife’s family is still is SE Asia and from what they tell me things are terrible over there as well.
Not very good news at all.
The fact of the matter is there are so many that over extended their selves financially, now they want the government to run and help them out of this mess at the cost of others.
These are the same people that want Obama as president because all he is doing is telling them you will get more free stuff, he will give them free health care, free college, bail outs and so on.
These people dont care about country or tomorrow they will put this fool in office hoping that he can just give them an avenue of getting money easy, its really sad because if he does happen to win, yes we will pay now but just imagine what 8 years of Obama will do to this country, and what kind of future out young children will have after he get done.
Obama campaign is a flea circus!
If the banks in Luxembourg and Switzerland fail, then you might have a point.
Its bad, but not THIS bad. An excellent analysis I read a short while ago analysed the various economic bubbles that have developed over the past 50 years. The current housing bubble is, on average, about 30% over market value. Prices have fallen 15-20%, and too many talking heads proclaim ‘DISASTER’, and that a depression is coming. Its the market adjusting to true values. We’ve got another 5-10% real estate value decline to go before the bottom is reached. I agree that the situation for the honest real estate people and the home builders really stinks, but the sheer size of this proposed rescue package is absolutely MONSATROUS!!! Some tough negotiations with banks by gov’t reps to buy some overvalued property may be in order, but I sure don’t trust my home party (Democrats) to get that job done well.
My wife, the PhD economist, is agreeing with your comment. She came up with some chart from Harvard analyzing percentage increases from 1890 to the present, and it is unreal to see the steep ascent in the line in the graph around 2001-05.
But a decrease in housing prices should be expected, and if you have to buy another house, e.g., for a job transfer, your own house will be worth less but so will the new house you purchase. And if those not in the housing market have saved money for a down payment, they will see cheaper houses. Now, I’ve oversimplified, because a lot depends on personal circumstances, savings, etc.
Local governments will be hurting IF, like the idiots in our county where I live, they expanded programs based on all the new revenues from higher home prices.
My husband is at Harvard Business School right now and was told to keep track of the Case and Schiller Index.
It’s already being dealt with without the government. Loan modifications are being done right and left. You keep your rate and payments. The corrupt Dem fools in congress can swindle money but they are terrible at managing money. Even Hillary who had over 100 million in campaign money went broke in the first month. Who’s minding the store? Politicians need to get theri hands off the money. Hillary never got our money bombs from June and July. Her debt went from 22M to 24M? Weird.
I’m voting Repub all the way down. Didn’t want my Repub Senator before, but now he’s getting my vote.
Looks like repubs were successful in removing earmarks to ACORN. From Wapo:
Democrats also made a number of concessions, abandoning demands that bankruptcy judges be empowered to modify home mortgages on primary residences for people in foreclosure. They also agreed not to dedicate a portion of any profits from the bailout program to an affordable housing fund that Republicans claimed would primarily assist social service organizations that support the Democratic Party, the official said.
This is my third attempt to post this video, but it is important to watch how in 2004 the Democrats did everything they could to lock regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Your blood will be boiling after watching this:

relax, it was posted hundreds times
good. I don’t see why they don’t just set up an escrow account with those “windfall profits” they are expecting and then deal with what to do with them later. Geeze–these folks disgust me with the way they are taking advantage of an emergency situation.
Obama being the first and the most invested.
Here is the current Fox summary of the deal as it stands now (description, not provisions): It is impossible to tell whether ACORN is in or out, given this level of generality:

Great update and letter, Susan. I assume if it OK if we use your letter to our own to elected officials.
The Washington Post so far seems to have the best article in the early morning (young reporters go to the same bars as Hill staffers — LOL). It looks like McCain got a version of his $400,000 limit on executive pay:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/28/AR2008092800064_2.html?hpid=topnews
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0908/13711.html
There’s a 9/21 story on McCain placing the limit on executive compensation at $400,000. I like the way they’ve done it — if a firm wants to pay more it will really cost them because it will likely mean they cannot deduct additional compensation as a business expense, meaning they will pay corporate tax on that amount.
Making paying higher taxes a choice. It will have to be looked at by the Supreme Court. It will then set up a Rogue vs. Wages controversy that will last the rest of the century with liberals against conservatives. Those who abort it, and pay higher taxes will say its their right to abort.
I love that turn of phrase Rogue v. Wages … you are very, very clever!
That is a brilliant play on words illustrating the difference between fiscal and social cons.
This change denies deductibility to compensation in excess of $400,000. It is a subtle change — it does save the public purse some lost revenue, but I think its chief benefit is that it then places the onus on the board to explain to shareholders why they will compensate above that without deductibility, which increases the cost of that compensation to shareholders, and reduces the rate of return that debtholders can rely on.
I think that will do a lot of good.
That 400K is the same rate of pay as the president of the United States. John didn’t pick that one out of the air.
Let’s see, John in D.C., and Obama out campaigning even though he had said he was going back to D.C.
Ironically that is the best decision Obama could make for the good of the country.
Because people like Dodd HAVE NO CONSCIENCE. Apparently the majority of the Democratic party doesn’t. How does Hillary Clinton feel about this deal w Acorn getting a chunk of money? I would like to think she is against that. No one on either side should be going along w this but apparently most Dem’s are or it would be taken out. We have a bunch of crazy ass kooks in the Democratic Congress right now. Republicans need to call their bluff and not back down.
She’s probably for it. Who can deny the reverends that are at the heads of these institutions to have nice clothes and two to three wives.
Whatever the dems say. Sure she is for whatever it takes to get along. Politics UNUSUAL. $140,000,000,000 would go a long way in buying the White House for the new socialist democratic party.
crazy ass
kookscrooks.I know this is off topic but here it is.

Everybody should email this link and story to Hannity and Rush Limbaugh…god i can’t believe we have gotten so screwed in this election thanks to Baracks bullshit that Hannity and Rush are who we have to count on to get the truth out.
I am glad you returned, Jeremiah GDA Wright.
Glad to see ya too. Nobody kicks obot butt better than you.
email it to ontherecord@foxnews.com too.
Dodd got his “courtesy” deal, remember?
Bachus of Montana also scored on his place on the Jersey shore!
Rangel had his five apartments, and on and on!
Details are sketchy at this time, but it appears that ACORN was excluded.
If these con artist stick me with a $10,000 bill, I will reclaim it in sales tax and other methods…may take a while and some belt tightening, but I’m up for it!
I really would like to get anybody who was involved with the financial mess at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to be taken to the cleaners. Although, I don’t think this will really change anything. The prices of houses will continue to decline and more and more banks will start collapsing. All the 350 billion will do is slow things down. But at the end of the day 350 billion is a drop in the bucket of the close to 30 trillion that is now outstanding in house loans, car loans and credit cards. If only 10% of the loans go bad that is about 3 trillion dollars. There is no such money out there to be borrowed. Not even for the US government.
Nonsense.
Why?????
John Smith, I agree that this is the proverbial can being kicked down the road.
What I am wondering is about capital flight. The global markets that have absorbed these junk securities will suffer as well. Where does the money go?
Safe havens are few and far between.
Emerging markets have historically unstable governments or at best monetary policies that are not favorable to foreign investment. China is making moves to isolate /mitigate any negative effects.
290 banks already collapsed during the Majority ruled Democrat congress watch in the last 2 years. (and I’m leaving the ic off of the word Democrat because there is nothing democratic left to the democRATS). There is nothing new to collapsing banks and lenders. This is just the bottom and not the beginning.
Ken Lay went to jail. Why not Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson? Tony Rezko’s going to jail. I hope he snitches on Obama. He’s cutting deals right now.
P.S.
I do support a bail-out, as long as it is reasonable and transparent.
Great letter, Susan!
It appears to have worked, but there is always a but with these people!
Guest exposing Obama-Ayers ties coming up on Fox.
FOX NEWS TICKER:::: ACORN JUST ANNOUNCED THEIR ENDORSEMENT OF OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT!!!!
Why am I not surprised.
Surprise, surprise.
OMG that like Charles Manson Endorsing Hannibal Lecter….who would have thunk.
Are we supposed to be surprised?
I really, really hope that a very good ad can be made to emphasize ACORN’s role in election fraud!! And then connect that to O.
Obama’s crew already listed ACORN on their disbursement books but when it was called to Obama’s attention, it was changed to something else. I can’t believe the crooks now do everything out in the open for everyone to see. They use to try to hide their corruption. Now they just change the wording.
Wow! will wonders never cease?
They made that endorsment months ago. February I believe.
LOL, they endorse barry! That’s like saying fish live in water.
MSNBC Busted.. Foreigners Cast 80% of Votes in MSNBC’s Online Debate Poll countries that case votes in MSNBC Poll listed below: http://countusout.wordpress.com/

Wow, now don’t they look foolish and underhanded??
Only 20% of respondents from the United States…and then, we don’t know if they were citizens or visitors!!!
Ignorance is the problem. Ignorance and laziness. There is no such thing as something for nothing and that is what the democratic party is trying to sell to the ignorant masses. Something for nothing, it’s called socialism/communism. The democratic party has always flirted with socialism but this time they are going all the way. Sad, but as a life time democrat I am now hoping to see the death of the democratic party in what is left of my time on earth, and if voting against them will help kill it that is what I intend to do.
But aren’t tax cuts the Republicans’ idea of a “free lunch” To listen to conservatives, tax cuts are something for nothing–which is, of course, nonsense. That’s probably why money always hemorrhages out of the country when Republicans are in power.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GCNfc4tsug
Perry, for the little I know about economics, taxes and tax cuts are an issue of circulation. If the money not collected in the form of a tax circulates one more time around the social network, its net effect is to add jobs. Most of the money, about 85 percent of it, will end up in the governments hand anyway. Only a small portion ends up as a good (a product) and eventually in the dumpster, buried in a landfill.
What’s not in a landfill yet is just waiting to be. And what’s not in the governments hand is just waiting to be. In between are our social contracts. Presently our social contract says that corruption, greed and insulting behavior is the way to go forward.
lark — until we get the money out of politics we won’t have a clean election and we won’t get Representatives to work for the people. I look at Pelosi and Obama and I see the dollar signs in their eyes. They pay lip service to us and in return the checks come in from Lobbiests as they turn the bills they pass into huge Christmas Presents to their benefactors. Think about Universal Healthcare, Congress has it but they cannot pass a bill which allows the people who pay their salaries to also have it. Why because they take money from the insurance companies who don’t want this bill passed. One big ponzi scheme.
youtube? Experience is the better teacher. That is why McCain was better in the debate than Obama. McCain was the teacher and Obama was the student. Obama memorized facts but did not know what to attach the facts to. You think tax cuts are a free lunch? Earning your money through labor and wanting to keep as much as possible has no resemblance to a free lunch, but food stamps do. I have no love for the republican party but at least up to now they are the American Party.
Right. When Obama was asked where he would make budget CUTS (in light of the $700 bailout), he said that he would ADD to programs like early childhood education. That was not the right time to give that answer.
snosandy — I can just see that early childhood education.
I pledge allegiance to Obama and to the nations for which he stands.
One World under our Messiah with adherance to Obama above all.
Scary
And I will turn in my parents, if they criticize Obama.
dixie — As a lifetime Dem I am sickened that the party I identified with has screwed the people and has no shame. They didn’t want Hillary to get the nomination because she would have made the pols work for the people again. Instead they put up this flunky who will do whatever the fat cats want. I will now identify with the Republican Party and I will never forget what the Dems have tried to do. This is a capitalistic nation–with McCain/Palin we will stay that way.
If Dems succeed in winning the presidency, taxes will be 60%. You heard it here and you heard it first. They plan on winning and care very little about the payback of the bailout. It’ll all be finded from 60% of your income!
So, Obama is using prosecutors and sherriffs in MO for his own personal advantage, and now he is using the unions the same way.
I know that unions have been a force in elections for Dems as far as GOTV etc goes, and that is all fine and good. But have any of you ever heard of a union forcing a WORK STOPPAGE that has nothing to do with work conditions, nothing to do with a management dispute, but is solely to benefit a single politician? This is coercive in the extreme.
If I were a WV coal union member, I would be PISSED OFF at this:
Is the union for miners or Obama?
Nobody coerces UMW members, and that includes their union
IN the last two presidential elections, the leaders of the United Mine Workers have embraced the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate while West Virginians have elected Republican George Bush.
The gulf between the union and the people of the state appears to be widening this year as union leaders launch an all-out effort to elect Democrat Barack Obama over Republican John McCain.
That effort includes a call for a strike - a brief work stoppage - at Consol’s Blacksville No. 2 mine because a crew for the National Rifle Association filmed an anti-Obama ad at the mine.
Union officials said the film crew tried to get people to bad-mouth Obama.
“This, I think, is an attempt to try to twist the facts here,” UMW president Cecil Roberts said. “We’re just hoping people aren’t misled.”
An NRA official denied that.
“This is an effort by the Obama campaign to try and shift the focus away from Barack Obama’s abysmal record on guns,” NRA spokesman Andrew Arulanandam told the Associated Press. “I checked with our crew that was out there and they said they didn’t coerce anyone.”
Absent evidence of coercion or misleading people, a work stoppage, however brief, would seem unjustified from the union membership’s perspective. Many union members are also members of the NRA. Furthermore, they would be striking against themselves.
From the union leadership’s perspective, it makes perfect sense. The leadership has curried favor with Democratic leaders despite an increasing gulf between the liberal national Democrats and the rank and file in West Virginia.
A work stoppage over an anti-Obama ad is an unnecessary reminder of that gulf, and certainly will not change the minds of any union member who is leaning toward McCain.

Wow, Obama is really worried about Missouri and Ohio. McCain is up 1 pt. in Ohio and 3 pts. in Missouri. He just needs to hold Obama off there and take back North Carolina, Virginia and take Pennsylvania, too.
Now they need to finish this by Monday because of a Jewish holiday. Well, good. Lets rush it quickly so that instead of a 5 second prayer, an hour long prayer would calm the conscience of some of them.
You ask why Dodd is trying this stunt? Redistribution of assets that’s why. Keep the program in place that brought us down and continue the process. Socialism is the goal. The Real kind. There’s no middle class in socialism. Just the honchos and the rest of you. The goal is to keep the program going! Equalize! I’m middle class and you’re not? You get equalized whether you work or not. They want to keep it going. They’ve made so much progress toward the goal, can’t you see that?
Somebody needs to either throw these bastards in jail or kick them the hell out of capital hill. Or both.
As far as I understand, and I understand very little, Gov. Palin is in my mind the only person in our midst that has a vision for returning us to a ‘resource oriented’ economy.
IMO, there is no substitute for that now, not only for us, but mostly for our children. The basis for a ’service oriented’ economy got blindsided by globalism. Africa is a good example of that, but there are thousands of other ways to understand it. We have come to the climax of the potential in a ’service sector’ economy. Not for Realtors of course. They always get the better part of your dollar’s worth of work product.
Only by returning to ‘resources’ will we be able to provide everything good for ourselves, our families and fellow citizens.
Vote Palin in 2008 or get ready to suffer.
lark — I love Sarah Palin–she is the real deal. A Republican friend of mine is worried that she might be hurting McCain–I told her if Palin was hurting McCain the media and the Dems would not be attacking her the way they do.
I hate how they drill her on foreign issues. She’s not on the ticket for “foreign issues”. We have McCain and his group for that.
She’s on the ticket for her executive skills and her backbone. I guess she’s a threat to the New Dem Party because she will protect the constitution. Plus she is fiscally responsible and the Dems hate that. They are paniking because there goes their wasteful pork allotments. Sarah will clean it up at the stroke of her pen..
Katie Couric is a hateful woman hater. She dogged Hillary and now Sarah. Anyone in their right mind would not talk with Katie Craphead Couric. She’s purposely antagonistic and almost lost her job because of it during the primaries. I think it’s time to flood their office again and tell them this time craphead couric needs to be fired.
uppity — there is a reason that Dodd has gotten more money from Fannie and Freddie then any other member of Congress–he looooooooves those earmarks at our expense.
Blips on C-SPAN and FOX that ACORN might be out of the package. No confirmation cause no one’s seen the damn thing cause it doesn’t exist on paper.
No earmarks are acceptable. Rumors that they are busy christmas-treeing.
if you have the inclination call and rattle a few congressional “members.”
FOX is reporting a deal has been made. Not Your Sweetie’s blog says ACORN is out.
bert — the media and the Dems are attacking McCain but if it wasn’t for him, the Dems would have loaded down this bail out bill with all these earmarks. John McCain is my hero.
I hate how the media is allowing Dems to blame McCain for the blow-up last week. According to what I’ve read, it blew up when the Dems turned the meeting over to Obama to lead.
http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_092608/content/01125107.guest.html
If Dems succeed in winning the presidency, taxes will be 60%. You heard it here and you heard it first. They plan on winning and care very little about the payback of the bailout. It’ll all be funded from 60% of your income!
If they christmas tree it, I hope McCain will oppose it.
With this “TENETIVE” deal thatsupposedly has been made between DEMS & REPS…me thinks Acorn made this announcement this morning because they are gonna get their money…..maybe??
I am thinking the same thing why come out now an endorse Obama? I just hope they are not getting any cash and I would sure love to hear from McCain now, all this sitting and waiting with these dam Republicans is pissing me off.
I am tired of hearing how great this bailout it, how it has to be done when the entire public is crying out no, for god sakes is there no politician willing to stand up for the people geez.
The money to ACORN will be funneled back into the New Dem Party leaders personal pockets. Watch and see.
DanL — According to Republican Roy Blount — The Acorn Slush Fund is out.
Looks like when Nancy Pelosi was talking about the culture of corruption she was looking the mirror.
Advice to self: Do Not Under Any Circumstances Trust Any of the Lying Bastards In Washington D.C.
What can I say about the Democratic when it uses a crisis of this magnitude to insert earmarks? All I can think is what was I thinking to support this party for so many years?
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t find the Republicans one bit less despicable. It just appears that at this point in time they are listening to the voice of outrage among their constituencies. Nothing like the fear of not being re-elected to make a politician do the right thing.
The republicans are despicable, agreed. The democratic party was once the party of the working people. True, they founded the social programs for the needy, which included orphans, widows, handicapped, and elederly. It is along those lines (among other things)we were thinking about. But we never intended for those social programs to lead to socialism united into a governing body under the leadership of the likes of what the democratic party is proposing today.

This just in. Family of Ryan Jopek told obama to stop wearing the bracelet and stop using their son’s name.
They support the war in Iraq and John McCain.
FOX NEWS is asking for E-Mails right now on ACORN/and also VOTER FRAUD @FoxNews.com They will also be reporting alot more in the next hour about this subject…
what’s the email address?
Send them NancyA’s writeup!
Ask them to do a 10 part series on voter fraud. That’ll buy us time to send in the info.
Barney Frank better go on a diet.
When he pops and goes to that hot warm place his bacon is gonna be sizzling big time for the shit he pulled on the us all with his money schemes in congress.
Good letter. Picture the financial crisis as a “Forest Fire”. We need to create a 700 Billion line of credit to help with a firebreak to stop the fire from spreading. Then we need to put out the fire, too.
The financial forest fire:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TykfGGHU4I
Actually we don’t need $700 billion. We need but $560 billion - at the very most. Remove the 20% earmarked for Obama’s black supremacist friends.
(I still can’t believe they passed a law making it illegal to refuse a mortgage to an unemployed black living on food stamps. I still can’t believe the courts have enforced it. And that this has been going on for over thirty years.)
THey should not have passed that law. This is partly why we are in trouble.
It occurs to me that the put-down of voters by Obama-nuts with the cliche ‘Low-information voters should be countered with ‘No-information Mainstream Media’. Afterall, hardworking Americans looking for gasoline and picking up kids can’t be online or in front of news programs 24/7. So what little news (low information) they do receive is from the MSM (no real info regarding Obama) news channels.
Therefore, the half leaning for Obama now, once informed will be as aghast, anxious, mad, angry, and ready to fight for freedom and justice as the rest of us.
Its all about the time now. Will the truth be allowed to come over the NO INFORMATION MSM or will it have to be delivered forcefully by the Feds in Chicago with indictments for Obama/Axelrod/Biden.
As the pressure mounts, someone in the NO INFO MSM will crack knowing that once McCain/Palin wins, the No INFO - ALL OBAMA ALL THE TIME - Gravy train MSM will be toast. The people of America will give a thumbs down to poseurs from the MSM. Thumbs down as in hang ‘em high.
The “low information voter” label was just a projection on Barky’s part. He’s the one who has the low information voters, ‘ya think?
He’s the one who has street people and underaged voters who have no college..more of Barky’s projection saying we Hillary supporter now Mccain supporters are not educated..’ya think?
Democrats are WHORES, even when it comes to saving the nations economy, they can’t stop trying to help their special intrest groups. Most pathetic losers on the planet.
Whores is right, both the males and females of the democratic party who want to be power brokers but don’t seem to understand they will never have power or authority over their pimp.
As McCain said Obama has been in the Senate for 900 days and given 918 Million in earmarks to his pals.
His Truth Squad should be renamed…Keep The Masses From Discovering The Truth, Squad.
How can anyone possible defend his record??
There is no excuse for 918 Million taxpayer dollars being used for O’s earmarks.
Is that true? Over $1 million per day?
Yes! When can we get his fat ass off the stage. Please tell me he’s been finally arrested for fraud against the American people and embezzlement. Black people supporting Obama need to realize quick that Obama does not care about the black poor. He let over 300 black people in his buildings die during a heat wave because there was no air conditioning and it wasn’t safe to open the windows due to the thugs around. Jesse Jackson is voting for McCain. That should be a wake up call for all Blacks.
Lay off the Faux News kool-aid. No informed and intelligent person would consider Faux News a serious news source, especially a Democrat. Besides, Faux News will probably lose its broadcast license next year for airing all sorts of sleazy smears and lies in this election campaign. Say good bye to Faux News come January 2009.
I always find it indicative of ignorance when I read “faux news” since faux is not pronounced anywhere near fox.
I always find it indicative of ignorance when I see the name ‘Freedom Fighter’ in here. FF? Fuck off. And I mean that in a nice way. Your attitude is repugnant. Who the F are you to come in here and police and order people around? Get the fuck out of here. Isn’t that your daddy calling? Fuck off.
If airing smears and sleazy lies lost a network it’s licence MSNBC would have been off the air a long time ago.
FOX has become just one of many voices and the only one that will actually tell the truth about Obama sometimes. They aren’t all that fond of McCain either which makes me like him more.
The idea that only FOX has a bunch of lying bastards on the payroll is so naive that most adults would be ashamed to say it.
I only watch FOX now. And I have been a Democrat for over 40 years.
No one is buying your shit, try some place looking for fertilizer.
I read an excellent piece about economic bubbles of the past 50 years and it showed how the real estate market is overvalued by about 30%. The collapsing of this bubble is what’s happening. Some are proclaiming that the 15-20% decline of property value over the past 12-18 months is economic disaster. Sorry, we’ve got another 5-10% decline to go before we reach the end, and recovery starts anew. This bailout is absolutely MONSTROUS!! Government reps should be negotiating with banks to buy properities if they’re too extended to reduce pressure on them, but that should be a process that would take a few months. And should be conducted by credible negotiators representing the people. My home party (Democrats)is not in a credible position to do such work, so we should look for some independents like the 9/11 commisioners to carry out that process.
Has anyone watched the ticker on FOX at the bottom?..They are now announcing that ACORN will spend 16 million on voter registration for DEMS..it also warns about their past Fraudulant history…unbelieveable!..we pay THEM to support the DEMS with ALL our tax dollars..McCain is on his own I guess….someone tell me where this is fair!!!!!
McCain / Palin NOWWWWW
If it weren’t for NQ no one would know anything about ACORN. They completely control their Wikipedia article for example. The wonder is this article is not protected and yet gets cleaned regularly, as does its talk page. You can’t read about any controversies surrounding ACORN - only that they’re great guys all of them, dedicated to serving the community.
Something tells me ACORN is something of an Obama Achilles heel. There’s more published controversy about Obama almost everywhere - that this article systematically is rid of all controversial topics means it doesn’t pass the smell test. Someone could be sitting and guarding this sucker 24/7.
A link to a Fox News clip on the role of ACORN was removed without explanation from the ACORN Wikipedia page last evening. The article has already been tagged ‘NPOV’; this would have been one of the first attempt to provide ‘outside information’ and another point of view about this organisation; it was removed.

What the Dems are doing is the height of global irresponsibility. And all for Obama’s friends too. I have never before witnesses such greed. I hope they get roundly outed for this. I think it’s also becoming easier for people to see what their real agenda is. If there is any justice in the world this story will effectively permanently destroy the Democratic Party and Obama will leave the playing field in shame.
Thanks for spreading the word on this. Such greed - Never. In. My. Life.
Thanks again for getting the word out.
Just heard that Acorn has been taken out of the 700 billion bailout !! This is why clearly why McCain felt it was important to be in D.C.
Of course! McCain knows all about ACORN and vote fraud that is done by them.
If I was a Republican in the House at this moment, I would walk away and not vote if ACORN is involved in the bailout.
They need this passed immediately? Fine! Let the Dems and GW take the fall for this, seeing that they have the power to make this Bill happen.
McCain now has the opportunity to say I will not vote on this and win this election by stating the FACTS about ACORN and Obama’s link to it.
I place little blame on W. As I have seen he and his people have been warning about this all along. For once it’s the Dems, them alone. But perhaps this is going to be a pattern.
The New Corrupt Dem Pary blocked every Republican economic bill.
Lisa — according to Fox News Roy Blount (R) says now a deal can be worked out because the Acorn Slush Fund will not be a part of the deal. They are waiting for the Bill to be in writing tomorrow.
Hey guys,
Check out this new book on Obama, its great!
Its called “The Accomplishments of Barack Obama”, it has a table of contents and a foreward, and the rest of the book is BLANK! Portion of the profits go to charity too. Check out the website, I put the book on my coffee table and had a party this past weekend, everyone thought it was hilarious:
http://www.obamaresearch.com
I have posted in NQ for the last three to four weeks a large series of accomplishment by Oblahblah. The list is large and growing. Everyone connected to him in any way shape or form has had their reputations ruined.
The first one was Oprah.
Next is Hillary.
Looks like McCain does have some economic sense, he got the limited exec comp package he wanted and no ACORN earmarks in the bailout!
Now it is going to get nasty with ACORN coming out endorsing Obama and pledging to work on Dem voter registration (which is against the tax code for charitable organizations) to get the Dem’s re-elected so they can reinstate the major income source for ACORN in January, otherwise ACORN will go bust!
Steisand better hold a could more dinners and shows for Obama so he can pay the costs for ACORN to get him elected……lol
If we can get the news out who was really behind this mess the democrats will not have a majority in the house come January and with earmarks gone since McCain won’t sign them into law there will be no funding for ACORN. They can go out and get jobs like everybody else has to instead of living off our Tax dollars.
Oh it will likely be a talking point of McCain’s after the Bill becomes law and then McCain can talk of the sleeze of Obama the “community organizer”…lol
LINK!!!! Please!
Truth squad in PA
http://www.politickerpa.com/wallyedgepa/1828/obama-launches-pa-truth-squad
At least this one makes clear that all the democrats will go out and campaign for Obama, big woop, that’s to be expected. It doesn’t, at least on the surface, sound like MO where there is an attempt to criminalize free speech and suppress it illegally. maybe McCain should announce the formation of something like “Country First Teams.”
Wonder if their first task is to speak out against the law suit that Obama is not elegable to run for POTUS that was filed in PA…lol
Found as a comment at the above URL.
What will people do? This is war. I seriously want to recommend something here that under ordinary circumstances is illegal. But I see no alternative.
Well on the other hand that is community organizing at its best and a real challenge for McCain. It stand, if that is true and these people work for Oblahblah for nothing but good will, that they will be a very strong advocacy group for him. I don’t like it, but it is Chicago Politics at its best.
I wonder what Rendell thinks about this?
Wow - just saw Obama spokesperson on Fox: she refused to answer the question of whether or not Obama knew about and supported the ACORN provision inthe bailout bill. When pressed, she kept saying that she wasn’t sure it was ever in the bill, but it wasn’t in there now.
She had the gall to say she used to work for ACORN, they did a lot of good for low-income housing, and the Republicans could learn something from them (paraphrased), i.e. a total whitewash of ACORN, presenting it as a shining example of community activism for the poor (as John McCain would say, “please”).
Also, confirming other reports I’ve read about what went on at that White House meeting, Chris Wallace stated (when responding to a reporter’s question about McCain’s limited comment at that meeting) that Obama was pushing the Dem’s position - remember this was when the ACORN provision was still in the bailout bill - and that Obama was “hectoring” the Republicans at the table. Wallace said at these types of meetings the real work is not done; it’s done in committee meetings behind the scene (correct), explaining that McCain was instrumental in getting the House Republicans at the table, and working behind the scenes.
Oh, I bet Obama was pissed that his ACORN provision was objected to by the House Republicans! What a thug - hectoring fellow lawmakers. No wonder McCain could barely stand to look at Obama during the debate.
I think we’re looking at Obama’s supposed political mojo: this is where he is really weak, this is what was to never surface in the news. I think this is the crumble of the Obama career. I think he is finished, in disgrace now. Thank goodness in such case.
Here is a story we all missed…While the media was busy (complain) talking about no Palin interviews they must have decide not to cover this story…Sept. 3rd.
Local Couple Meets With McCain, Palin
This is up at Politco now:
ACORN outrage removes affordable housing provision
The ACORN issue is off the table.
After several days of rage from conservative activists regarding a provision in the bailout bill that would send some of the profits from the sale of distressed assets the goverment buys into an affordable housing trust fund, congressional negotiators have removed section 105(d) of the bailout proposal, according to aides on both side.
ACORN, a Democratic ally, was not specifically directed any funds in the previous proposal, but money that went to state and local governments could then have been divvied out to the organization, which the GOP said was a deal breaker. Fevered opposition to the provision had become a viral sensation.
It appears that, with the removal of the affordable housing trust fund, all of the proceeds from the sale of assets will now go to retire the debt.
Gee whiz. The typical way they write this up - with supposed ‘neutrality’ - makes it sound like removing ACORN is a bad thing. Ain’t it amazing how crooks can exploit neutrality?
Why would anybody think that they should spend the money on anything else then retire the debt. We pay 100s of billions in interest every year to finance the debt we already have. Taxes could be much lower if we did not have to service all the debt.
Camp Obama graduates - it’s a worry if they mobilise them in the swing states.
http://tdg.typepad.com/heidi_lis_potpourri/2008/09/senator-obama-seems-to-be-turning-into-rev-sun-myung-moon.html#comments
I’m hoping that team 0bama’s “Camp 0bama” ploys, with their thug tactics and their “get in their faces” intimidation will have the exact opposite effect of what they plan - meaning, I think they’ll turn off a lot more people than they attract. Of course, the 0bamamedia will call it The Bradley Effect when he loses the election.
I hope Heidi sees the light and casts her vote for McCain. Third party or staying home is an invitation to Obama to move to the whitehouse. Can we afford that?
Well it sounds like we have the Republicans and McCain to thank for eliminating the ACORN slush fund, capping CEO pay at $400,000 for participating companies (I am sure they will find some way around that puppy), eliminating golden parachutes. I am also sure that the Democrats will try to take credit for all of that. I thought yesterday that Pelosi was absolutely out of line when she said that Republicans were “unpatriotic” for not attending meetings earlier in last week. I am really surprised that the Repubs did not take revenge on that or get a retraction/apology. I hope McCain gets cred on this as I would imagine that he has a lot to do with the outcome and I am sure that Dems will do everything they can to deprive him of that status and try to claim it instead for Obama.
Good!
This bill will stop the corruption dead in it’s tracks as it leaves no incentive for CEO’s to cook the books that leads to failure for everyone except the CEO.
I must be the only person alive that thinks a salary of $400,000 is an obscene amount, when the average salary for workers is a miniscule drop in a bucket to that.
Either that, or Republican economic policies have led to the second Great Depression, and the Republicans are frenetically moonwalking to pin it on the Democrats. God knows it wouldn’t be the first time.
It’s documented Perry. Dems have created this economic crisis in order to get Obama elected. Dems are corrupt now. Get a grip.
Perry, As a policy matter which has been documented in Mr. Johnson’s recent video, it appears the democrats have always been FOR getting the low income housing and other “community based” going. These are socialist policies instituted by Democrats NOT Republicans.
I am not casting judgment on these socialist “programs”, I am just saying that Republican’s are not interested historically in these programs.
While supply side economics is not the answer, it is factually dishonest to say the sub-prime mortgage was not the spawn of Dem’s.
The erosion of labor’s political influence has more to do with greed at the top.
Please explain the public rift in Nevada’s SEIU’s top echelons during the primary. Also the Role ACORN had in the PR primary. Or ACORNS role in Michigan and Florida’s Dem primary outcome.
La Raza and ACORN met with Obama in Los Angeles. Do you think these organizations do anything to strengthen the role that labor plays?
Respectfully, get real. They are a blight on middle class working people of this country.
The Inuit people had a practice of leaving their elders on the ice packs for the polar bears when they went to meet their maker. And in turn would return to Inuit.
Obama and his crowd left humans to freeze and made profit from it. Who is the guilty party?
ACORN was defended by OBAMA. It is another way to launder dirty money. Have you looked recently at Rezko’s ties to ACORN?
I see the whole economic ball of wax as NewHampsters wonderful analogy to Dune, as on the money.
As time goes by Americans make nothing, own nothing, and increasingly so, know nothing of their peril.
Or shall we fetch the Obama “Truth Squads” to tell us how to think or what news source to listen to?
Obama and the Dem’s have not stood up for the 1st, 2nd, 4th 5th and 14th amendments of the Constitution of these United States, they have forsaken 18 million at the drop of a hat and the right to vote in a Chicago send.
My Letter to my Congressmen. It went to all three of them.
Dear Senator Chambliss,
We may have a financial problem that is great. But there is a far greater problem that you have than that. You have a CRISIS OF CONFIDENCE in the US Government. When you stand idly by and allow Barney Frank and Chris Dodd go on national TV and represent what is going on in the name of the US Government, you may as well put the mafia up there. Don’t you get it?
You need to call for the IMMEDIATE RESIGNATION of both Frank and Dodd in the halls of Congress and on national TV now. Can you not be ACCOUNTABLE for the damage they have caused and are now causing?
We know that Frank and Dodd were at cause in the “busting” of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. They have been the flag wavers of more destruction than any free market institution ever could be or has been. And yet, you don’t root out the problem and take a stand for what is right.
Further ACORN, charged and prosecuted with many voter fraud crimes, is a Far Left radical organization. To think that you would violate the First Amendment of the US Constitution, forcing people to pay for an organization that is clearly political and does not represent their views is a crime in itself. There can be NO TAXPAYER MONEY go to ACORN.
Sincerely yours,
Good one, Butter!
PS. It wasn’t 20% - it was not less than 20%. Those crooks could have got more!
On a talk interview this morning Obama was asked if McCain should get any credit for this agreement..Obama say “absolutely not” it was he that worked the phones and brought this proposal to this conclussion..
And everyone believed him because he believed it.
BTW, this is the reason why I have always said that if he by any chance gets to the WH, a)Hillary Clinton is toast, b)everyone in both chambers will grow their hate against him and eventually they’ll refuse to work with him and consequently the government will end up in a paralysis/crippled.
Can you imagine an economic crisis and a crisis in legislative process. And the same goes for world and foreign affairs.
Oblahblah spells disaster. This is what he will do then. Call Hugo Chavez and get advice from him on how to convene a constitutional convention.
He gets credit for the Paulson-Pelosi plan version 1.0 that existed on Thursday, before the White House meeting where 150 billion dollars were earmarked for organizations like ACORN.
The elimination of the ACORN bailout provision happened thanks to House Republicans and McCain.
Barky is a first class bullshitter. He worked the phones? Kick the bum out! He has no idea what he is doing or saying. He’s a liar! McCain was leading the plan and don’t you forget it!
the democrats have the majority in the senate and the house. bush said he would sign the bill. everyone agrees it was urgent.
why didn’t the democrats just pass the bill?
because they’re cowards. because they know it would come back to bite them if they were the only ones supporting that original disastrous bill. because they can’t do anything without someone like mccain taking them by the hand and getting it done.
Here are links to charts of housing prices over time. They have to come down a lot further to be realistic.

Thank you. I needed that.
Katmandu, thanks. I would be interested in your spouse’s views via a post on NQ?
This bill is a monstrosity. All people should oppose it.
If there is a “crisis”, then why did the independent CPAs/auditors render unqualified opnions for firms like Goldman Sachs, Bears Stearns, etc for the past three years?
The Obama campaign has training (indoctrination) camps for his followers to get out the vote, bars signs (free speech) at a rally at a university in North Carolina - claiming security concerns, threatens prosectuion by State officials against anyone who dares “lie” about him in Missouri, has lawyers attempt to shut down anti-Obama NRA ads - what next? Obama has told his supporters to “get in their faces” (McCain supporters), and today on Fox, Chris Wallace reported that Obama “hectored” the opposition at the meeting at the White House. Obama is not the candidate of “hope and change” - he’s a Saul Alinsky radical with deep ties to ACORN, the far-left organization that is busy trying to steal this election by fraudulent voter registration, the organization that just endorsed Obama, and the organization that almost got 20% of the monies recovered from the bailout bill (in a provision that the Democrats tried to sneak in until the House Republicans and McCain raised objections). No wonder Obama was so angry at that White House meeting - the gig was up when John McCain came to town. Wake up, America! We can’t allow Obama with his radical agenda to take over our country.
Talk to some Cubans and get the parallels between NObama and Fidel Castro. This is no joke or coincidence. He will model USA after Cuba and Fidel Castro. Reminder: Nobama’s brother is named after Fidel Castro. Fidel Castro ran his campaign of hope & change and got in to become their first dictator unbeknownst to the voters that this would happen.
Still sitting this out or voting 3rd party?
Just talked with a staffer in Congresswoman Biggert’s (R-Illinois) office and was directed to this c-span link. Watch some responsible, accountable, true patriot’s speak on this bs-bailout and their proposal for a non-bailout alternative.
http://www.c-spanarchives.org/library/index.php?main_page=product_video_info&products_id=281380-1&showVid=true
oops, patriots not patriot’s.
Now they are trying to sell the Paulson-Pelosi bailout as a line of credit. ROFL. So taxpayers are now lending to institutions with little or no credit, and little or no asset. De ja vu. Can someone say SUBPRIME loan.
Malkin: More Obama gangland tactics: Signs banned at Virginia rally today

That was awesome!
Someone has to react to the destruction of the ACORN Wikipedia article. It’s happening right now again. Any link or mention anything controversial; any link to an offsite (non-ACORN) URL is systematically removed.
This page is being controlled by ACORN and the Obama bots.
Please think about this, people: if someone comes on the Internet and wants to find out something about ACORN, where are they going to turn?
If they don’t go directly to Wikipedia they will probably ‘Google’, and that will lead them either to Wikipedia or to the ACORN website - which is even worse!
We have to do something. We have to at least write about this. I’ve written to Michelle Malkin. But honestly: how do neophytes find the information on ACORN as things stand? They will not repeat not be finding NQ first hand - and there’s still no article here about it!
This is suppression of information. This is fascism. Please SOMEBODY post an article here!
Thank you!
This is the person controlling the ACORN page. Surprisingly he’s not black.

He’s called linking in an article by syndicated columnist ‘vandalism’.
He’s ‘watching’ this page so any attempt to change it will be reversed immediately - unless attention is brought to it.
Please - we need to get on this!
Here’s ‘Lulu of the Lotus-Eaters.

His name is evidently David Mertz.
There is little that can be done about unless the story makes mainstream. Again I implore someone here to write about it. I have already written to Malkin.
There are a lot of people who will be wondering ‘what the F is ACORN’. As long as David Mertz aka Lulu of the Lotus-Eaters controls this page there is no way people will get the information they have a right to have.
Thank you.
don’t forget to post on http://www.publicmarkup.org/bill/legislative-proposal-treasury-department-authority/
and also to write your congress persons. to find your senators: http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm
and representatives: http://www.house.gov/house/MemberWWW_by_State.shtml
this is what i just sent to my senators:
For the sake of myself, my family and our country, please do not pass this bail out. I did not create this situation and feel it is unfair to be asked to use my tax dollars to fix it.
Further, I completely oppose the transfer of any deposits that the federal government may be able to recoup from the bailout to other organizations or to the fund written into the Economic Recovery Act or for any other purpose. 100% of the any moneys recouped should come back to the US treasury to pay down our deficit.
I wholeheartedly agree with what the Wall Street Journal wrote today: “The idea that special-interest groups on the left or right should get a royalty payment for monies that are repaid to the Treasury is a violation of the public trust. . . . The Paulson plan is supposed to get us out of this problem, not start it over again.”
In particular, I oppose the transfer of taxpayer funds to ACORN and its affiliates. ACORN is an organization whose members have been convicted for voter registration fraud; some of its leaders have embezzled more than $1 million. http://online.wsj.com/public/article/SB121745181676698197.html
I continue to oppose the bailout in principle because it rewards greed and malfeasance at the taxpayers’ expense. If this bail out is to be justified at all it is to avert a catastrophic meltdown of the NY Stock Exchange. Adding extraneous earmarks is just wrong and indefensible at a time when we are having to raise the limit on our public debt to more than $11 trillion and we are facing baby-boomer retirements and other economic stresses.
This provision or any other provision that fails to return the entire 100% of any recouped funds to the US treasury simply adds injury to the insult imposed on taxpayers by this bailout and violates the public trust.

Chicago? what for?
To collect the Acorn money? Deutsch bank went under 2 years ago. They were one of the biggest peddlers of “loans that fail”.
Obama is taking credit for the work done on the bill. Senator Kerry was just on Fox news saying that McCain did nothing and Obama was instrumental in getting the deal accomplished.
And Obama is up 8 in the polls this morning- America is buying his act.
I noticed that over the past few days. Dems claiming how much Obama did. They are just sick.
Pelosi on Fox was placing the blame on this Admin’s failure to regulate! Brazen liar! She didn’t bother to mention that the Dems had blocked every effort to institute relation since at least 2002, even came close to calling the warnings by regulators lies!
In the mess the govt is in, there is plenty of blame to go around, but I believe in giving credit where credit is due.
I’d really like to know why Chris Dodd thinks that the pay-out to a corrupt organization like Acorn is worth risking worldwide financial panic.
Can you say ObACORN. This is being done at the DSA and OBama’s insistance.
So taxpayers money will be used to ensure that Obama wins the Presidency.
I am getting a little concerned that the media’s contant touting of certain polls is going to have an adverse affect on the elections. Rasmussen has Obama up by 6 points and Gallup by 8 points. The Gallup poll is of registered voters and not “likely voters, plus is adjusted to represent the larger Democratic registered numbers. Zogby released their poll results on the 27th and it is as follows: Obama 47.1% and McCain 45.9 %. The poll included 2,102 likely voters nationwide and carries a margin of error +/-2.2 percentage points. Those of you that visit other sites, please try to get as much of this out as you can, because if we don’t start telling people we are going to vote for McCain, we are going to wind up with Obama as President. He is a danger to America.
We are going to wind up with Obama as President anyway. The guy and his campaign will lise, cheat, and steal votes- just like in the primaries.
I hope the GOP has some good attacks because if they don’t this thing is virtually over and has been decided by the media.
No election will ever be the same.
