Media Bias: The Fix Is In
By NancyA on October 1, 2008 at 12:50 PM in Current Affairs, Media Bias, Obamedia
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I read an article by Instapundit’s Glenn Reynolds about an e-mail he received from a reader who works in a “major newsroom.”
“Off the record,” that reader told Reynolds, “every suspicion you have about MSM being in the tank for O is true.” The reader described the situation in his newsroom in stark detail:
We have a team of 4 people going thru dumpsters in Alaska and 4 in arizona. Not a single one looking into Acorn, Ayers or Freddiemae. Editor refuses to publish anything that would jeopardize election for O, and betting you dollars to donuts same is true at NYT, others. People cheer when CNN or NBC run another Palin-mocking but raising any reasonable inquiry into obama is derided or flat out ignored. The fix is in, and it’s working.
Reynolds reports that he asked for permission to reprint the e-mail “without attribution,” which “was granted.”
Since Reynolds’ initial story, the account has been verified by other sources. Reynolds notes that “the Anchoress hears similar things.” Adds Reynolds reader Eric Schubert:
The Edwards debacle was proof enough of where the heart of the MSM lies, and lack of curiousity of the press about Edwards probably cost Hillary the nomination. And that shameful episode offers a warning to the MSM. What if Obama does have a skeleton in his closet (such as a shady deal or outright bribe) that is revealed after he wins the election? While the chance of this scenario is remote, imagine the backlash against the MSM if it could be shown that a reasonable investigation by the MSM would have easily revealed this secret to the public prior to the election?
The Anchoress had this to say about the MSM:
I have a couple friends who work in the MSM, too, and one of them tells me the newsroom is (exact words) “unbelievably cavalier” about any complaints viewers register about their reports, what they ignore, their bias or the way they edit Republicans vs. the way the treat Dems. “Cavalier” as in the fix is in and they don’t even have to pretend to care what half the country thinks or wants.
The Anchoress has more to say. She opens our eyes to things that certain legislators want. She suggests Pelosi is getting what she wants:
I suppose this is why print media and the press in general don’t care about their tumbling revenues; when The Pelosi gets the regulated internet and restricted Congress that she wants, and Obama gets his thugs and his Justice Department monitoring, intimidating and shutting down alternative media (and the dissenting voices we’ve been told are “patriotic” when a Republican is in the White House) the incestuous mainstream press will go back to being the only game in town. Pravda West.
(Shrug) everyone sees it coming; the voters don’t seem to want to stop it.
And we knew it all along!

Who Funds the Progressive Media?
The Benton Foundation
Initially, this article will introduce the work of the Benton Foundation, a liberal foundation that has played a pioneering and catalysing role in supporting progressive media ventures.
Critiques of liberal philanthropy are nothing new: indeed such criticisms have regularly surfaced ever since liberal foundations were created in the early twentieth century. In the past few years, however, the number of critical scholars and activists writing about practices of liberal foundations has grown rapidly, and there is now a blossoming literature showing the funding strategies of these highly influential philanthropists are antidemocratic and manipulative.
The Benton Foundation is currently chaired by William Benton’s son, Charles Benton, who like his father maintains close ties to a number of less than progressive individuals, not least through his position on the Board of Trustees of The American Assembly. Furthermore, he is a member of the international founding committee of The Real News and a trustee of the Education Development Center. Today the Center has a staff of over 500 people and a budget in excess of $90 million. Its funding comes from USAID and liberal philanthropic organizations such as the Ford Foundation, the Gates Foundation, and George Soros’ Open Society Institute. [13]
The Benton Foundation is also well represented on the IWT founding committee, with Gloria Tristani, Charles Benton and Mark Lloyd (former general counsel to the Benton Foundation now a senior fellow at the George Soros-linked Center for American Progress).
Given that Ford and Benton Foundations have extensive funding and personal ties in so many projects of progressive social change it is hardly surprising that most of the representatives of IWT’s founding committee also work for non-profit groups and projects that are funded by the Ford Foundation. However, this almost ‘natural’ state of affairs should give us pause.
From the book The Shock Doctrine, “the Ford Foundation was the “leading source of funding for the dissemination of the Chicago School ideology throughout Latin America”.
“[Ford-funded institutions played a] …central role in the overthrow of Chile’s democracy, and its former students… appl[ied] their US education in a context of shocking brutality. Making matters more complicated for the foundation, this was the second time in just a few years that its protégés had chosen a violent route to power, the first case being the Berkeley Mafia’s meteoric rise to power in Indonesia after Suharto’s bloody [1965-66] coup.” [24]
Those of us who take it as granted that the United States is a plutocracy not a democracy, find in this state of affairs their belief confirmed that the richest have access to society’s financial and political resources, and that they can engage in large-scale social engineering to make sure civil society is shaped in a manner compatible with their own elite interests. However, even activists, researchers and theorists who believe the United States is (or at least should be) a country of pluralism and representative democracy should be concerned about the amount of money flowing from these liberal foundations and begin documenting its effects on the development of the American progressive mediascape.

EXCELLENT Article.
It is incredible how these philanthropic organizations have their tentacles in everything and the objective is to “MANUFACTURE CONSENT”-to promote social engineering to influence the public VOICE to take action which is ultimately in the best interest of the funders.
Mr Barker raises a good point in that many of the groups that receive funding may have no idea as to how much control the ‘funders’ will have over them one day-especially as these groups become more successful & their operating costs increase. Public contributions just dont cut it.
Barker urges that these organizations try to separate from these philanthropic organizations but he realizes that this may be financially-next to impossible.
We need to connect the dots.
This is not conspiracy theory…this is REALITY.
There is a reason why what is happening in the media today is happening in the media today…
I agree and have banned MSM and PBS. Sigh, I now have even had to stop watching Paula’s Party on the FoodNetwork as she had MO as a guest last week and drooled all over her and stated that she would be a great first lady in the style of JackieO. Getting hard to find anything other than Fox news to watch on TV these days. I also unsubscribed to the San Franciso papers about 4 years ago totally slanted to the far far left.
Last night on The Daily Show Bill Maher, speaking to Jon Stewart referred to Obama as “our boy.” as in “What do you think our boy should be doing against McCain?” and Stewart didn’t bat an eyelash. It’s so blatant now.
I watch Fox news sometimes and Lou Dobbs-that’s it.
Everyone should check out Glenn Beck on Headline News. He is on @ 7pm and 9pm. Yes, he is major conservative, but he also speaks in ‘Common Sense’. He for one has been talking about the economic crisis coming on since the beginning of the year, if not earlier. I actually find that he speaks more to the common man than even Dobbs. It is the only show I will give to CNN. (Well, maybe Dobbs if I am still up at 4am and nothing else is on…)
Glenn Beck comes off as an ass.
Glenn Beck is a foul and sexist pig. His radio show from several years ago was raunchy conservative filth – and he’s no better now. Basically, he’s a high school grad with a big overpaid mouth.
“Among the most notorious offenders in this area is conservative commentator Glenn Beck, who stated on his syndicated radio show in March 2007, “Hillary Clinton cannot be elected president because … there’s something about her vocal range. … It’s not what she says, it’s how she says it. … She is like the stereotypical — excuse the expression, but this is the way to — she’s the stereotypical bitch, you know what I mean?”.
A high school grad admitted to Yale FWIW
Interestingly, our family also watch Fox, Lou Dobbs, and Gleen Beck. Nothing else.
I DVR Glenn Beck every day. I have gotten probably about 50 people to start watching it. I wish more people would watch Fox News and less “locals” as well as the Communist News Network (CNN).
I noticed that NBC actually advertised their new fall ine up on Fox News. Maybe they realize they are losing a lot of their viewers to Fox…
They should just start the obama show…sorry, I mean the “news” with:
Hello comrade…and in the news today…our savior obama did something really wonderful and great…yeah obama… hail obama
I watch Fox news only and Lou Dobbs sometimes….
So the MSM is admitting their shitty candidate can’t win without major cheating.
Suppressing critical information is a form of cheating.
Fair and Balanced?

THE FIX IS IN AGAIN…
The print media is terrible, the headlines they post do not have substance in the report to support the smear.
Read this and watch the video to see if McCain came across as the headline says…

I think the descriptive words were not accurate at all, he was strong and firm in his position. I would be yelling and pounding on things because of the craziness of the media and the way they are twisting and contorting the news.
Speaking of suppression and bias, I thought this was worth re-posting from another of today’s threads:
Dead heat.
n0bama can’t close the sale.
Absolutely and way ahead on that score, Citizen Tillthen!
I have MSNBC blocked and may do the same for NBC.
NBC programming stinks to high heaven anyway.
On the media score, I have two or three insider pals and I learned that Chicago Tribune already has its line-up of post Palin debate pile ons by dweeb columnists and editorial feature writers.
I have not bought a Chicago Sun Times or Chicago Tribune in years.
Don’t be too mad at Chicago Tribune , Pat. Most of the dirty stuff concerning Obama has come out of the newspaper and is still coming out. They are not fans of Obama. They know his thugs style.
I agree, soldier. The Sun Times is in tabloid format while the Tribune is the size of a traditional newspaper, and that larger size is much easier to hit when my indoor dog pees on it.
Soldier of Christ-
The Editorial Board of the Chicago Tribune recently endorsed Sen Obama for president.
CORRECTION/CLARIFICATION-
I was misinformed-
My apologies-
Chicago Tribune-to the best of my knowledge has not officially endorsed anyone for pres.
The Chicago Tribune endorsed Sen Obama & Sen McCain in their respective primaries earlier in the year.
Now that their ox is getting gored, Republicans might start seeing the virtue The Fairness Doctrine.
are you calling Sarah Palin a cow?
Perry has fallen off the edge.
I don’t think Perry is a bad guy. He probably lives in an Ivory Tower and he’s afraid of being uncovered as an anti-Obamist, although he is clinging to deficient beliefs about the D party which tell him to dump on the R party at every opportunity. He is at times tiresome. OK, a dork.
No, you can’t regulate speech– just boycott stupid speech.
And who gets to decide what is fair?
Person A may believe that CNN is in the tank for n0bama, but Person B believes, just on the strength of Lou Dobbs’ show, that CNN is a right-wing mouthpiece. Who is the arbiter of what is “fair”?
The MSMers claim all day long that they are unbiased, when the news is leaking out that they are engaged in information suppression.
(Greta van Susteren reported on this a couple months ago.)
But in public, they insist they are fair.
fairness doctrine? talk about the most of the MSM as the pravda of the USSR. I cant believe I’m saying this …….but thank God for Fox news. Perry, you repub hate is getting old. grow up, perry.
As per Putin’s and Hu Jintao’s standards.
At least Hu Jintao tells you what party he belongs to.
The Fairness Doctrine is a ploy to put a damper on free speech. What the media is doing to Sarah Palin cannot be considered free speech. It is hate mongering!
Fainess doctrine…try Communist Manifesto…
It’s a sad day when Journalists now get their talking points from the Daily Kos. Moulitsas, you may recall, became famous for his eulogy to the desecrated corpses of dead American contractors in Iraq – “Screw them.”
I was over at TL earlier because BTD is actually making sense on the bailout, and I can’t even believe they are citing DKos polls first when they put polls up!
What happened to oh those crazy Kossacks!
If there ever was a time for McCain to come out swinging against the MSM it is NOW !!!!!
After hearing McCain speak today I really think he doesn’t care if he wins or loses.
All I have to say is my vote is going AGAINST Obama..
McCain has it in his power to win this and win this by a landside if he starts attacking..He has more than enough ammo to do do this and he isn’t doing a thing….
It looks like it is up to the bloggers and talk radio to speak for him and take this election from that Chicago man/child THUG
McCain still thinks the press are “my friends” HE had so many years when they did love him, but he doesn’t realize it was because he was willing to dump on other GOP members of the Senate or House. I ain’t even a republican, but a recent EX-Democrat, but that is how I see it. I don’t think he does care if he wins. He certainly isn’t playing to win.
Is anyone surprised? Let’s see…Obama cheated to get Alice Palmer out of the Senate election when he ran. He played the dirtiest politics ever on that one. He cheated and lied and committed voter fraud to steal the nomination from Hillary. He and Pelosi staged the phony roll call in Denver and threatened and harassed any delegate that didn’t tow the line. Now we have Obama and ACORN. Voter fraud again. And the complete utter biased, dishonest, unethical, amoral practices of the MSM. This is no longer America. It has been taken over by the Hitler campaign and all of the scum supporting this loser Obama. The only sensible choice is McCain, but the MSM just won’t tell the truth. I’m writing this through tears. Where did America go????
Bettysuela
I feel the same way you do. I too have shed some tears. Frankly I thank God (oh, can I say that?} that I am a Christian. I will make sure on election day that I am more than ready to go. Can anyone say Anti-Christ? Ayers, ACORN, Wright, nothing seems to matter to Americans anymore. I worship God not Obama.
I’m not sure, but maybe this makes sense after all?
http://healtheland.wordpress.com/2008/04/15/false-prophet-kim-clement-says-president-barack-hussein-obama-will-bring-peace-to-middle-east/
This is an email I got from a friend. It is very sad indeed. It talks of the WWII America…proud and strong. Ready to stand up and fight for what was right. We are so not even close to the America of yesterday. It breaks my heart to see what a bunch a whiners and wimps we’ve all (me included) have become.
————————————————–
I know everyone has a different opinion on the war and our current President, but, this article makes a lot of sense, take 2 minutes, read it and give it some thought. When electing the next President, ‘the only decision you have to make is who you want sitting in that seat in the White House when – not if – when we get hit again and millions of American lives are put at risk!’
This is from: ‘ You Ain’t Gonna Like Losing.’ Author unknown.
President Bush did make a bad mistake in the war on terrorism, but the mistake was not his decision to go to war in Iraq. Bush’s mistake came in his belief that this country is the same one his father fought for in WWII . . . . It is not.
Back then, we had just come out of a vicious depression. The country was steeled by the hardship of that depression, but they still believed fervently in this country. They knew that the people had elected their leaders, so it was the people’s duty to back those leaders.
Therefore, when the war broke out the people came together, rallied behind, and stuck with their leaders, whether they had voted for them or not or whether the war was going badly or not.
And war was just as distasteful and the anguish just as great then as it is today. Often there were more casualties in one day in WWII than we have had in the entire Iraq war. But that did not matter. The people stuck with the President because it was their patriotic duty. Americans put aside their differences in WWII and worked together to win that war.
Everyone from every strata of society, from young to old pitched in. Small children pulled little wagons around to gather scrap metal for the war effort. Grade school students saved their pennies to buy stamps for war bonds to help the effort. Men who were too old or medically 4-F lied about their age or condition trying their best to join the military.
Women doubled their work to keep things going at home. Harsh rationing of everything from gasoline to soap, to butter was imposed, yet there was very little complaining.
You never heard prominent people on the radio belittling the President. Interestingly enough in those days there were no fat cat actors and entertainers who ran off to visit and fawn over dictators of hostile countries and complain to them about our President. Instead, they made upbeat films and entertained our troops to help the troops’ morale. And a bunch of them even enlisted.
And imagine this: Teachers in schools actually started the day off with a Pledge of Allegiance, and with prayers for our country and our troops!
Back then, no newspaper would have dared point out certain weak spots in our cities where bombs could be set off to cause the maximum damage. No newspaper would have dared complain about what we were doing to catch spies. A newspaper would have been laughed out of existence if it had complained that German or Japanese soldiers were being ‘tortured’ by being forced to wear women’s underwear, or subjected to interrogation by a woman, or being scared by a dog or did not have air conditioning.
There were a lot of things different back then. We were not subjected to a constant bombardment of pornography, perversion and promiscuity in movies or on radio. We did not have legions of crack heads, dope pushers and armed gangs roaming our streets.
No, President Bush did not make a mistake in his handling of terrorism. He made the mistake of believing that we still had the courage and fortitude of our fathers. He believed that this was still the country that our fathers fought so dearly to preserve.
It is not the same country. It is now a cross between Sodom and Gomorra and the land of Oz. We did unite for a short while after 9/11, but our attitude changed when we found out that defending our country would require some sacrifices.
We are in great danger. The terrorists are fanatic Muslims. They believe that it is okay, even their duty, to kill anyone who will not convert to Islam. It has been estimated that about one third or over three hundred million Muslims are sympathetic to the terrorists cause. Hitler and Tojo combined did not have nearly that many potential recruits. So, we either win it -or lose it -and you ain’t gonna like losing.
America is not at war. The military is at war. America is at the mall, or watching the movie stars.
Remember Obama said in his book ‘Audacity of Hope’: ‘I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction’.
What better place for the Muslins to control our country, than in the office of the President of USA.
Of course. And is the voting public going to show their ignorance by going along with this most obvious chosen PUPPET?
If you ignore everything else and just use this one tiny example. Letterman makes his show a trash and attack McCain, supposedly for McCain having to cancel because he is returning to DC for the crisis.
But, Obama’s network and show friend, SNL on NBC sat quitely when he cancelled on them…and they continued to attack his opponent FOR HIM on that very show he cancelled on!…..ssshhhhhh
oh and I hear it is so bad, it’s on the sets, too.
another reason we had to make this.
http://mybluecountry.googlepages.com/whattheobamademocratsaresayingposter
This is the saddest election year in history.
The scandals that were ignored on both sides of the Democratic primary were a bit weird…Remember Hillary had White Water and a few other political messes. Then look at all the messes of Obama’s that the media ignored. So was/is this the best that the Democrats had to offer?
I have to say I became a Hillary supporter early on because of her “Love of Country” and detailed polices that came from a love of country.
So now we have the bottom of the barrel scrum for the Democrats if we want to vote Democrat. Actually I think Obama is worse than the bottom of the barrel and I TRULY fear what Obama and the rest of his people have in store for America.
Im voting for McCain because I feel that I know the roads he will take us down. SOme of them maybe scary but at least they will be roads intended to Help ALL Americans.
With Obama I have the feeling that his roads are meant to help only a select few and Im Dont really think that his roads even include the blacks. Hey look at what he did for the Chicago Blacks. All If Obama gets elected “hang on tight” unless you are one the very few in his elite group.
McCain ‘08
I’m still voting McCain, too. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s demoralized by this financial debacle which has Soros’ and the Dem majority’s fingerprints all over it. I do believe there is a crisis that needs to be addressed, but I also believe the Dems let it happen and Soros aided and abetted it so they could trash the Republicans and hurt McCain. Poor John, first his own party side-swiped him, now it’s the Dems.
I will vote McCain as will all of my extended family. I don’t care what the MSM says about McCain or Palin, they WILL not sway my vote, not now not ever.
Too bad the rest of the obamatrons don’t get it yet.
I am not a conspiracy theorist, but if obama and his wife hate this country as bad as the act like they do, I wonder if he would try to totally take us down; “so he in his infinite wisdom can build us back up and make us better World Citizens”
One World Government doesn’t really seem all that far off now…
I’m sorry if that came out wrong…I wasn’t calling you an Obamatron, I was just wishing the rest of his cult felt the same way you do.
Which nominee is in bed with the Corporations?
THE ONE promoted 24/7 by the CORPORATE owned media and press – and their Wall Street sponsors!
Corporations KNOW they’re safe with Oblahma who won’t buck the corporations who ushered him into the White House.
Obama is a Puppet for Wall Street!
Obama is “just words” – promising candy and no school on Fridays and the dumb electorate believe him.
kinthenorthwest,
I agree with you.
Sen Obama’s track record for helping African Americans in his community is very poor…

Why is Sen Obama in politics? Why does he want to be president?
exactly, stop watching the hacks on these News channels. Alot of other folks have. they have lost nearly 20% of their viewers. Now with the Ifill mess i am betting even more tune out.
MSNBC is a joke and so is CNN. I laugh when poeple complain about Fox because those same folks are the ones that NEVER watch fox. Fox has more differing opinions than ANY of the networks. They always have. It was just a liberal talking point to blame fox. Reason being? fox reports news not propaganda like the other channels. I also laugh at the left for trying to act like the Ifill as mod is no big deal.
These are the same goons who were kicking and screaming that Fox was going to host debates.
Fox is and always will have more viewers than the other stations. For poeple who cannot understand that. they probably cannot understand much of anything.
Also to the obama trolls, you must be proud of the Ohio effort of “bums for Obama”
Honestly, everyday you guys sink to a new low.
You guys bussed in a van full of drunks so sloshed they cuould not stand in line long enough so you had to buss them back out.
Your really disgusting excuses for americans.
Oh and again on fox news, it is viewed by 39% Republicans and 33% Democrats. The rest are indy.
Is this documented somewhere?
Unbelievable.
This may be the link that was being discussed concerning Obama’s efforts to recruit the homeless in Ohio:

I’d add PBS and NPR to the oBamediatrons….
Gwen Ifill is just one example of the typical Obama supporter; support him regardless of his non-record.
It’s in the media’s advantage to have Obama win; it’ll sell newspapers, magazines, and ad time. What with all that “history” being made, it’s an “easy sell.”
They don’t want someone in the Oval Office who can FIX things, because good news never sells.
When I watched the debate last Friday, I thought McCain did very well. After all the MSM spin the One is declared victor. Just like Bush in 2000 & 2004. The One reminded me of the Dancing Bear. He should get speech therapy.
CBS is owned by Viacom.
ABC is owned by Disney (Remember Walt was a founding member of the old John Birch Society)
NBC is owned by GE
CNN is owned by Time/Warner – AOL
FOX is owned by Murdoch
All are corporate entities with big masters.
Murdock made a deal with Obama. They are going to be balanced plus one towards him. They too are looking to attract the ‘collectivist’ learners crowd.
I’ve noticed…
Show a link for Walt Disney founding the John Birch Society or take it down. He was a socialist until the fifties and then he turned conservative. I have researched him extensively for publications and I never read that he was a John Bircher.
Welcome to my world.

BOSTON HERALD ENDORSES MCCAIN FOR PRESIDENT
McCain for president: A certain leader for uncertain times
http://www.bostonherald.com/news/opinion/editorials/view.bg?articleid=1122575
Well the Herald, is a conservative leaning publication. If it were the Globe that endorsed McCain I would have thought today was April 1, not October 1.
However, this is QUITE a news item:
Bernhard ousted from fundraiser over Palin remarks
Good!
Yes, Save Our Country…I am despondent over this failure…
I called the McCain Campaign office and pressed the Press key and told the woman who answered the phone that I could not believe that this was the best they could do.
I cited the “It’s OK if the debate is fixed” mantra…the spokesperson who needs a shave and the speech this AM where McCain looks like he is speaking from a cave some where it was so poorly lit.
I told them that Obama ’s Campaign was eating their lunch, and that they looked like idiots…I did…
I do..the McCain Campaign is letting America down every time they give away an issue…
Hell will freeze over before BO should ever be POTUS…
Is it that all these groups are funded by corporations that want BO because they want a global economy, and the USA might be in the way of the tap root of corrupt individuals?
Can you believe that the Mac Campaign really believes that BO doesn’t have the questions for the debte tonight??
Why would Mac set Palin up this way? She is cool, but come on…this is a joke ,right???
How about her saying that she thinks there is no sexism??
Get off the ledge there, ford. You’re buying what barky is selling with your panic attack. Deep breath time.
It actually is really okay that Gwen Awful is busted, and you can bet the farm the gopers always knew about her silly little crush book. Now Gwen is in a box – if she goes off on Palin, Awful loses and she knows it. The gopers boxed her in and they did in BEAUTIFULLY.
Timing is EVERYTHING here and it’s waaaaaay too early for the bombs to start flying. That doesn’t happen until after the last debate.
Really, Ford – try decaf.
I won’t succomb to the ‘uhbama surge’ that they’re trying to overwhelm us with.
I voted today in Ohio, for a Republican for the first time in my life.
May I ask, what made you decide to vote early, instead of waiting until election day?
Do you consider yourself an independent or dem?
I WAS a DEMOCRAT, until I saw uhbama defile Hillary and Bill with accusations of racism.
If he’s willing to stoop that low just to win votes, what isn’t he willing to do?
That, and I’m from Chicago originally.
I know allll about chicago politics.
I was a democrat, too. I agree with what you said and then some. I am an independent now and it feels great to have broken the chains that bound me!
My state does not have early voting, so I wondered what went in to your decision. Thanks.
Oh yea…I decided to voter early, because I do NOT want a horde of uhbama supporters overwhelming and therefore tainting early election results.
I know how they’d play that in the media.
I’m in a battleground state that now seems to be creeping to The One. Hasn’t gone blue since Johnson ran in ‘64. I will plan to vote this Sat if they’ll let me cause I don’t want to take any chance that I’ll be too sick or hurt to get to the polls and I don’t want to put up with the lines or the obstacles that BO supporters might be planning.
This whole thing makes me ill. I wish I felt the optimism that some have voiced about waiting til the last debate. I fear it will be far too late by then.
Heartiest congratulations, destardi!
My early ballot comes tomorrow in AZ and I can not wait to vote for McCain and not one single democrat in this election. I will probably photograph my ballot and mail it to the governor along with a copy of my new Independent card and old Democrat card.
Unfortunately latest poll is McCain up 21% here so me voting for him doesn’t make much of a difference.
do it anyway PHX!
I’m coming over to your side, Nick. Never thought I would see the day that I could pull the lever for a Repub, but witnessing what is going on with this election has me sick to my stomach. I’m not voting third party; McCain all the way! Thanks for your encouragement, Nick.
Hooray for you!!!! If the 527’s don’t come out swinging soon, I am afraid that it will be toooooo late here in Ohio. I pray that I am wrong …. but after Cuyahoga sends out an extra 96,000 early ballott applications, anything is possible imho.
I have high hopes for Ohio.
I’m sure McCain will pull a win here.
Where are those 527’s???? Don’t tell me they all went over to BO too? They were hellish to Kerry in 04 and I figured we’d see mega ads against Obama but its been crickets.
The Ads are all in the swing states. Except FL, so far.
I have family in PA and FL. They see them all the time in PA, barely at all in FL, s far.
I am in TX and we are getting very very few, and none from O’barky.
thank you destardi!
Thank you for putting Country First **hug**
Rocky went to the USSR and fought the cheating sob Drago there – and still won. Senator McCain, you are no Rocky Balboa.
anon….but you sure are a DRAGO! go away
In a letter dated June 25, 2008, the FEC asked the Obama campaign to verify a series of $25 donations from a contributor identified as “Will, Good” from Austin, Texas.
Mr. Good Will listed his employer as “Loving” and his profession as “You.”
A Newsmax analysis of the 1.4 million individual contributions in the latest master file for the Obama campaign discovered 1,000 separate entries for Mr. Good Will, most of them for $25.
In total, Mr. Good Will gave $17,375.
Following this and subsequent FEC requests, campaign records show that 330 contributions from Mr. Good Will were credited back to a credit card. But the most recent report, filed on Sept. 20, showed a net cumulative balance of $8,950 — still well over the $4,600 limit.
Until recently, the Obama Web site allowed a contributor to select the country where he resided from the entire membership of the United Nations, including such friendly places as North Korea and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Unlike McCain’s or Sen. Hillary Clinton’s online donation pages, the Obama site did not ask for proof of citizenship until just recently. Clinton’s presidential campaign required U.S. citizens living abroad to actually fax a copy of their passport before a donation would be accepted.
With such lax vetting of foreign contributions, the Obama campaign may have indirectly contributed to questionable fundraising by foreigners.

Putin wins, Hu Jintao wins. Obama wins. What a trio. The three commanders in chief.
Biden gaffs goes unnoticed, no one ask if Biden is capable of being President if something happens to Obama.
Biden is a man with millions in earmarks for his state, he has a son that was caught in some shady dealing, Biden for all the years in politics has nothing noteworthy to show but no one admits that do they?
Most of all Biden has serious issue with Obama candidacy why has he changed it would be obvious to anyone his sudden change of heart is because he was picked by Obama, so how come the media does not question Biden’s integrity in that regard?
Things have gotten so disgusting in this election that now they are even jockeying the poll to make Biden look more than he is, and Palin to look like a idiot with her support dropping.
Obama must of surly promised a lot of the fat cats in the media some good breaks if he wins, this sudden love for him I am 100% sure has conditions.
SARAH PALIN ON HER GAY FRIEND: “She is not my ‘gay’ friend, she is one of my best friends.” Funny that she and John McCain get so little credit from the gay community for what have actually been quite progressive attitudes.
http://www.instapundit.com
That’s because most of the gay community is running around with their heads up their asses like the women who believe Roe v. Wade will be over turned because McCain will be President.
The question I have been asking is “what will Obama do if something happens to Biden”?
What’s interesting is that Joe Biden is one of the principle architects behind Reagan’s “War on Drugs” effort.
Interesting the AA vote still goes to Obama.
Then again, most people aren’t aware of this due to the Obama Critic Blackout.
Destardi…Thank you! I needed that.
I will vote for Mac, but the Campaign needs to get back on track.
Ford, I can understand your concern, sometimes I let myself panic, but then I remember, McCain is not a quitter….he will overcome this and come out the winner.
hey Ford..and everyone else thanking me…I appreciate the words of encouragement, but I’m just doing what I think is right for my civic duty.
I hope more republicans and dems will come together to put country above party.
It’s about time.
McCain has recovered at the latest gallup poll. Its now Obama +4. a few days ago, it was obama +8. I believe that +4 is doable, and McCain can still come out on top.
Mccain smacks down a reporter who questions sarah palins experience. way to go, john……
http://hotair.com/archives/2008/10/01/video-mccain-gets-testy-over-medias-criticism-of-palin/
I’m happy that McCain rises to defend his running mate, and that too a woman. I was sick of watching hillary being trashed, and not one of the so called enlightened broadminded dems ever defended her. dems talk, repubs do. thats what I learned. the dems should learn how to act instead of talk.
That’s why I want McCain. He is willing to fight for what he thinks is right. The only people on Palin’s back are those elite liberals who wouldn’t like any woman who won’t get an abortion.
Like Elizabeth on the View today said, “Sarah has more experience than all of the candidates.” She is the only one who has been CEO of something. Running a state is like running a country–its just on a smaller level. She has budget decisions, Commander in Chief decisions, she negotiates fishing contracts with Russia, she hires and fires people, etc. She does exactly what the CEO of a billion dollar company does. This is more than Obama and Biden have ever done. McCain was a commander in the Navy. He has the same experience as Sarah. Just remember, Barack has only been a community organizer and Biden has only been a Senator.
Vote for McCain. Keep on fighting to the end. We have to defeat Obama.
That reporter was so obviously biased and hostile, the way she kept repeating “but what about the voters who are concerned about Palin’s lack of experience?”
She kept repeating “Palin’s lack of experience” as if it was a fact. McCain held his own with that woman, but I had been there I might have bitch-smacked her.
lol
woot woot woot Hillary or Bust….you go!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know from personal experience, many people are saying they will vote for Obama because they are sick of being called racist, if they don’t. So I believe many people are lying when they say they are going to vote for Obama in these polls.
Don’t believe the polls.
Exactly….. You do not know who is at the other end of the phone line. They know exactly who you are. They have your name, phone number and address.
And we already know what they are capable of.
So I can understand peoples reluctance to say NEVER EVER OBAMA.
I choose not to live in fear, and I tell them. You may be surprised how many pollsters seem to agree. If we don’t stop it now, we will lose America as a free country.
They don’t know who you vote for so why should you fear being called racist? Your in the booth alone so do the right thing and vote for McCain/Palin because it’s the right thing to do for your country.
I’m just wondering if the GOP is letting Barfy get over confident? Remember the arrogance with his world tour? He started sinking fast. He’s getting over confident again? Is that the plan?
The posters who are worried that McCain is not hitting back hard enough, etc. etc. are not looking at this from his perspective.
WE don’t know what information the republicans are sitting on, most likely McCain does. They are taking a measured approach. If anyone here thinks that behind the scenes, the campaign is not assessing, focus grouping, calibrating, then they’re plain wrong. His is a disciplined approach. I trust the McCain camp to do the right thing.
Let’s not forget: McCain is not the rookie of the two. He’s the hero, the other one is the zero.
mccain will win we need to keep strong and work hard for mccain/palin!
The Biden remark where he gets shot at in Iraq got no play @ all…after what they did to Hill.
The gaffes he’s made and the overlook by the MSM…
Can I wipe your a– Mr. Obama?
My husband has been urging me to write a book about the election, and the MSM. The research is all the more difficult on the subject, because it has been covered up and buried. I have been reading books, and checking out as many video’s and articles as I can, but truthfully, researching this truly makes me ill. I have never seen anything like the Democratic party. I never thought anything could be dirtier than the GOP campaigns of 2000-04, but Obama and his minions make Rove and his crew look like choirboys. I hate who I have become during this election. I am tarnished. I feel anger, frustration, depression, hatred, denial, revulsion, and a host of distasteful feelings. I hate the Democrats who are in charge now, and worse still, I no longer trust anyone who tells me they are voting Democratic. I’m just curious, but are their any of you out there who feel as hopeless, and helpless as I do? Five more weeks… not enough time to change the tide, I’m afraid. I think I’ll just get drunk on Election night, and depending on the outcome, I may need to stay that way!
Write a collectivist learner’s book similar to Obama’s campaign speeches. He’s pretty popular and well accepted. Just write what everybody knows already. What research? Are you kidding. People can care less about research. What’s important is a good title. If the libraries order your book you already break even plus quite a few hundred thousand dollars.
I think I have a great title actually…I’m calling it: “It’s My Party And I’ll Cry If I Want To”, feel freew to give criticism, constructive or other wise.
Yahoo online has picked up the Gwen Ifill story so all is not being ignored.
CNN (I’m in a hotel and they have no Fox) is getting ready to run the Ifill story. I’ll see what their slant on it is, but I’m surprised they brought it up at all!!
You know what, you gave me an idea. Maybe it will work. I may try to write a book myself.
BTW, between 2006 and 2007 I used to write in E-prime English. I loved it. I stopped of course as you can see. But I really really miss it. I used to be writing 100 percent E-prime and people really had a hard time following. Because I miss it so much, I may just write a book myself but in E-prime.
Liz B.,
Before it’s all over, the republican party will not disappoint. You will have renewed faith in them, I’m sure of it!
I’m just curious, but are their any of you out there who feel as hopeless, and helpless as I do?
*************
LizB – I feel as you do and you are not alone.
I am a Republican, but am loyal to my country and our founding principles first and foremost.
I am suffering from a lot of anxiety of what can happen to our freedom if Obama is elected.
I am so thankful that there are so many others — Republican and Democrat — who feel the same way.
Because the media is so biased towards Obama and the evil that he represents, it seems like we’re alone, but we’re not.
Perhaps this will unite so many of in a way that we have never been united before.
It’s been so easy to take our freedoms for granted, but as they say, “Freedom isn’t free.”
It IS worth fighting for – and we will fight — together! Forgetting about our differences, because if there’s no freedom, those differences don’t really matter!
Let’s look to our Higher Power and each other for strength.
I am feeling lost.
My boyfriend is an Obama supporter and may break up with me because we cannot discuss anything without politics coming into play. i hate Obama, he thinks there is nothing wrong with Obama. He hates Palin, I think she’s ok and he’s been watching too much Olbermann. We watched the debate last friday together. I got drunk. He hasn’t spoken to me since.
Womder why I hate Obama?
Why hasn’t he spoken to you? Was he upset that McCain did so well, and also smacked down his Zero a few times?
csuzeq, its difficult. cut the discussion of politics with your bf. but if he continues with it, dump him. I dont say this lightly. obama will be a disaster for this great nation.
If your boyfriend is not nice and does not respect your thoughts and wishes, definately break up with him. Never date a man that doesn’t treat you right.
Obama brings out the crazy in people, maybe you should wait until after the election to see if your boyfriend calms down.
Liz, I agree. This is the most depressing Presidential election in my lifetime and I am almost 50 years old. This is the first time there is no one to truly be head-over-heels, excited over. I have never voted for a Republican for President, but I think I will this election. It pains me to do so as I have been a loyal Democrat, but I dont’ like what they did to Hillary in the primaries, and how the MSM is turning a blind eye to all the giant red flags that are going up about Obama!
That’s why McCain ended his nomination speech with “fight, keep on fighting.” We have to fight this. If we don’t Obama wins. I will die before I become a socialist slave. This country will end up looking like Cuba. I will die first.
Don’t let it trouble you too much. They aren’t the democratic party that you once knew.
Laura Ingram has Governor Blunt in MO on talking about Obama’s truth squad…..
Not so.
I don’t think you should feel lost and hopeless, you said you are considering writing a book.
That is a proactive approach. Also as any writer knows, it is a cathartic experience.
If you were originally a Hillary supporter, and a longtime Democrat, I can imagine that you would feel a host of unpleasant emotions. However all is not lost. Judging from the outrage over what happened to Hillary, there is a dedicated core group of centrist Democrats who are willing to stand and fight and take their party back. As for voting Republican this year, I don’t know what to tell you. I’m a Republican and when I felt the candidate was worthy, I crossed party lines.
As you know, no one owns our votes!
yes. i’m having a hard time remembering why i love this country. it is but a shadow of its former self. i keep wondering how i can sell my house, my mom’s house and move us out of here. sad, isn’t it? i know other countries have their problems, too, but other countries’ problems won’t break my heart like what’s happening now. never thought i’d pray for 527s to destroy the democrat.
I think that too……I can’t bear to watch the country that I love be destroyed.
Yes LizB that was why I just posted my despair in this thread..
I would not believe this, if I hadn’t seen it for myself.
Little OT: Everyone should go watch the video of Jim Cramer on Joe Scarborough this morning (?). He’s making tons of sense and explaining how average Americans can make lots of money (through the govt.) from the bailout which would fill the public coffers, solve this mess, and avoid any tax increases. It sounds brilliant to me. Cramer supported Hillary until the SDs shoved Obama down our throats.
It’s amazing how much more sense a lot of the Republican anchors are making on this and other issues since Dubya is about to leave office and the Democrats have lost their collective minds.
and the Democrats have lost their collective minds.
***************
I just had to smile at this phrase – the Democrats have lost their “collective” minds.
That’s what the Democrat Party has become – Collectivists – Communists – Stalinists.
It’s been in the making for a long time, but has finally come to the surface – for all Freedom-Loving Americans to see, no matter what party that are or have been with.
and the Democrats have lost their collective minds.

I just call it democratic diarrhea, they’ve got shit running and it doesn’t make you feel good and it keeps you in the toilet!
The other day Cramer thought that this Wall Street mess was financial terrorists at work. I agree with that thought. One name comes to mind above all others….
Soros??????
We need our own October suprise:
If elected, Obama is going to give presidential pardons to everyone resonsible for this financial disaster. Franklin Rains, Barney- blinded by love, again -Frank, Acorn, on and on and on.
Our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will spend their lives paying off this debt and their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will be planning new ways to “privitize profit and socalize risk/debt”
I forgot to add that we should repeat this message everywhere and everytime we speak or comment. Until it is common knoledge that Obama is going to pardon the crooks or stop investigations.
Foxs and other conservative media should call out the networks that are being bias. Instead of saying “the media bias” which lumps them all together…call CNN, NBC, MsM, yahoo, etc.. out and accuse them of being bias. They will have to address the accusation. Fox should challenge CNN and ask why they haven’t research ACORN, Ayers, Larry Sinclair…
You can`t solve a capitalist problem with a socialist solution.
Have you heard of a pyramid scheme.
HARP,
Our capitalism has a problem becuase of the socialism injected into it under the name of “social justice”, “polital correcness” or “economic justice.” Only the capitalism can cure it.
Yes we did see it all along. But that does not mean we should give these anonymous unattributed email messages any credence. We’ve seen mention of them before and they were just as preposterous then. I’m not saying it’s not true the MSM are conspiring – I’m saying the ‘leaks’ (in the messages) appear to be the work of trolls.
And this is why we have the 2nd amendment
fox is not a “conservative” network. It has ONE republican host (hannity) and he is on with a liberal.
Orielly is an independant. Poeple think they are conservative because they do not make their news by bashing republicans all day like CNN and MSNBC.
they are and have always been a fair station. I have watched them for years.
If you say Iraq, i would remind you that all the channels and most politicians bought the Bush meme of war with Iraq.
So you’re saying they chose alan colmes to represent “liberals” because he’s an attractive, strong liberal?
*ahem.
Puh-leze. They’re getting better NOW, but FOX is just like MSNBC.
FOX is worse than the tabloid. I hope the Obama administration will revoke FOX’s broadcast license.
And your facts are?
Crosspost.

TAKE A LOOK AT THIS VIDEO ON VOTER FRAUD IN OHIO. HOMELESS OHIOANS BEING REGISTERED TO VOTE!!!!!!!!!
http://michellemalkin.com/2008/10/01/homeless-ohioans-for-obama-registering-in-droves/comment-page-1/#comments
The lies and fraud are becoming overwheliming.
Obama’s corruption scheme began as early as those days before he was born when his dad entertained communist ambitions to overthrow any capitalistic powers.
Today it is still growing and growing and growing like a ghost busters ectoplasm. It is still growing and will continue to grow. Corruption here there everywhere.
They have also been bringing in people from bars, registering them and letting them vote on the spot. Way to go Ohio! you guys had a little problem in 04 and you decided a huge problem would be better in 08? Super.
Letting them vote on the spot? More like paying them to vote.
Gee I wonder if these early votes are going to be challenged?
I think the 0hio decision this week was irresponsible. And frankly, I think McCain can kiss 0hio good-bye.
0bama’s been counting on this. This is why he thumbed his nose at 0hio’s Hillary supporters. Now he can cheat the election there.
Disgraceful!
Someone save this. If the worst thing happens and the “thug sizzle” gets elected, I want everyone to remember HOW THE HELL it happened. This should be a Micheal Moore movie …. oh ….. right …. he only objects to corruption when its coming from the side he doesn’t support … how foolish of me.
The following is a definition of terrorism at Wikipedia.
“Terrorism is the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion.”[1] There is no internationally agreed definition of terrorism.[2][3] Most common definitions of terrorism include only those acts which are intended to create fear (terror), are perpetrated for an ideological goal (as opposed to a lone attack), and deliberately target or disregard the safety of non-combatants.”
According to this definition would the MSM be considered terrorist organizations?
No. But it will extend to those legislators and senators that are ramming the financial rescue bill through the senate and the house above the wishes of the citizenry.
Should it be considered a co conspirator?
I now am watching Hannity and Bill O and Fox News to get any info on Obama, times have changed, I wish I were a shrink because there has to be some kind of syndrome or disorder that has taken over the media. I am sure of one thing it’s not getting me. I have learned more about movie stars and and want to be starlit then I know about a man ( Obama ) who wants to be king. These are scary times.
Bill O is supporting Obama.
I don’t believe that. Where did you get that info?
Bill fawns all over Obama. His peices have never been as tough as Hannity.
Keith O is supporting Obama
Me and 4 other people are bombarding MSNBC with letters about why they won’t report about today’s Washington Times article about Nancy Pelosi giving $100,000 of her PAC money to her husband’s real estate firm.
“Journalism is dead at MSNBC. Why won’t your channel report about Nancy Pelosi giving $100,000 of her PAC money to her husband’s real estate firm?”
the good patriots of America can protest all we want, but it seems we are helpless to the powers that be. This is mind control, this is brain washing, this is exactly what Orwell predicted in “1984″, just that he was 24 years too early.
Some people compare Obama to Hitler.
That is false.
Obama IS Hitler.
And God help us all.
Look I am black, I am not a fan of a slick politician who is a Manchurian Candidate. Giluani said it best, the people, not the liberal media will decide this election. This is not the DNC. Republicans are going to shatter Obama in the next days with the tapes and we know it. So get your popcorn and get ready for the show.
This former democrat is ready to see the trojan horse of Obama fall right flat on his face.
PUMA 2008!
thank you…some calm reason…
PUMA, do you have confirmation that the Republicans will be bringing out “the big guns” in regard to exposing Obama? I keep hearing it, but nothing is happening are we are already into October. I will lose any respect I have for the Republican party if they put politics over country and wait TOO long to expose Obama. This is our country we are talking about, and they know that waiting is not in the country’s best interest.
Here is another problem, given the admission from some of the MSM that there is a definite Obama bias . . . I don’t even think they will allow any add against Obama that they might consider to be too damning. They are already limiting what goes on the air. Where are the 527’s (?) that were supposed to be coming out against Obama? If we wait even a week longer, Obama will have this election in the bag–no matter what comes out about him (except if the Berg lawsuit comes out in Berg’s favor).
Color me doubtful and impatient.
I’m on the edge of turning off my computer and leaving it that way unless they give to 0bama soon.
I feel like we are doing all the work and the McCain campaign is trying to be gentlemanly while 0bama is hitting below the belt.
I still think it’s possible that the GOP wants to lose so that 0bama can have the chaos that Bush leaves. Then they can come back in 4 years and dominate things again.
This is unreal!
The GOP is taking a HUGE RISK here. There may not be anything to salvage in 4 years.
i agree they may want him to win so they can bash him for the next 4 years like they did on bill clinton for 8 years, with white water and miss monica..
I work in the MSM and it is all true. Don’t ever expect unbiased stories about Race, Tibet, Welfare or Christianity. It isn’t so much that journalists are intentionally biased as groupthink. They simply cannot imagine being wrong about these subjects and stifle any doubts they have.
Have you tried writing to the New York Times Ombudsman about media bias? A petition with several thousand signatures would be hard to ignore. One way I’ve noticed bias is that Republican positions are picked apart (usually by being followed by a lengthy ‘rebuttal’ from the opposing campaign), while significantly political opposing positions are presented as “fact.”
Fox does that very cleverly.
Even Fox, their reporters all went to the same prep schools, the same colleges as all the other elites. The MSM is such a low-paying profession that only the children of the very wealthy can afford to pursue it, hence the ingrained progressive educations. Fundamentally this is a class issue. Ban affirmative action, ban unpaid internships and start funding a serious national news network – and maybe you will see some objective reporting.
I appreciate your perspective, but I really believe that this election is different. It’s worse because it appears conspiratorial.
For example, why has no one pressed 0bama about his trip to Pakistan in 1981? It’s a legitimate question for a candidate with no foreign policy experience and who tossed it out when he was being backed into a corner about this durning the Primary. He made a trip during a time when it was difficult for Americans to visit Pakistan. Sorry, but the questions write themselves.
I’m not among those who believe the Larry Sinclair story should have been pursued or reported. Even though I’m not completely convinced that Sinclair is a total nutjob. But Sinclair has no corroborating evidence and that’s a fact.
And no one pins him down on the fact that he has many aspects about his past that are off limits as well as the refusal to release college transcripts, medical records and a birth certificate.
Something is up this time on media front. And it’s more than groupthink.
But, I’m glad I now accept that the media is biased.
I haven’t bought the NYTimes in a year. And I am boycotting all other publications. People should do the same. Print media is teetering on the edge anyway. Well they’ve just made dug their own graves with this election.
The worst for me is when campaign talking points are presented as fact.
And, what is the point of having Bill Burton on to ask him questions – why not just run a substandard Obama ad instead?
The press can’t even talk about race. If they absolutely have to, they are so stinking afraid of being racist they over react– for example, most of them swallowed the ‘”Clinton is racist” Obama meme’ hook, line and sinker.
Drone Unit,
I am happy that you pointed out “Tibet.” I may have many bad things to say about Chinese government. However, in the issue of Tibet, Chinese government is quite a victim of biased western media.
The media now reminds me of the pravda of the USSR. only propaganda, zero facts. IF obama gets elected, are we gonna call each other comrades? sounds crazy, but if you really follow obamas ideas for CHANGE, it isnt.
Where TF is the FBI on the voting fraud? On break? Geeeeeeez.
Everyone who was so upset about the polls. Gallup has Obama down an other point and McCain up by two points now it stands at 48-44. Maybe the news is getting out there that a number of democrats are responsible for this financial mess.
McCain gained 1 point with white women last week and Obama lost 1 point.
McCain is still ahead of Obama among independents by 9 points. Granted he lost some but it looks like he is regaining those numbers. Obama is down to 22% where McCain is at 31%.
McCain also gained 2 points with conservative democrats.
Now you have to remember this was the worse week he head in a long time.
Once McCain votes for the bill he will be toast. While once Oblahblah votes for the bill he will be hailed as the author and great developer of all its new provisions.
Voters didn’t buy the Pelosi gambit.
posted downthread:
ABC hides poll describing 0bama erosion:
These Gallup numbers are a little better, but I also just heard that McCain is now down with voters over 50, where he had been signficantly up. Come on people, wake up.
Lately I’ve been thinking about buying a gun. Why? I hate guns. I hate violence.
Maybe its the image of the Brown Shirts come to turn me outta my house because I voted for McCain/Palin. Dya think?
tillthen, my advice would be to buy guns before the elections. in a years time, obamas civilian army might come for you, and try to send you to an obama re-education camp for a bit of brainwashing and reprogramming. so keep your guns and bible close to you.
And don’t forget to buy lots of ammo to go with your guns.
Sad, but a lot of people are leaning this way and I think the end result is going to be tragic.
I’m thinking of learning to shoot and applying for a permit first. I don’t want a gun until I absolutely see the signs that it will be necessary. I know a lot of people see that already, but I still feel we are not quite there yet.
So I’m doing the responsible thing. I have a book that will educate me about guns. I’m going to learn how to use one and handle it first and then I’m going to apply for a permit. I want to be able to handle a firearm well if I own one. I don’t want my own weapon to be used against me.
You don’t need a permit for a hunting rifle or a shotgun, just a hunting license. The only time you need a permit is if you are going to carry a concealed weapon. The best bet is a shotgun for a first weapon. You don’t need to be a marksman to shoot a shotgun.
I’ve been thinking about buying guns, too.
I was in the military for 12 years, but I’ve never felt the need to own guns.
Until now.
I’m also afraid of civil unrest after the election.
I’m already planning not to travel far from home in the days immediately after the election.
Are votes against the 0 even going to be counted if the fix is in? Is the fix in on counting the votes too?

An unidentified source, “A READER AT A MAJOR NEWSROOM”, wafts up from a popular blog in Tennessee, echoed by another blog in New York, reflected again in NO QUARTER. The “there” never was.
You also do your candidate, Palin, little service by deliberately dimming expectations in the event of anticipated defeat.

I will vote for Obama when the county registrar sends me my ballot. That takes care of question number one.
As for the rest of the malarkey about how much an empty suit Obama is, you’re preaching to the choir and would know so if you were not a blow in. I have been having to choose between the lesser of two evils for over forty years: It’s the same old shit just a different day for me.
As to my remark about Palin, I feel that it is dishonorable for a supporter who actually believes in the candidate to deliberately dim expectations in the event of an expected defeat. That says to me that the supporter is not worthy of the candidate and in view of my attitude toward Palin, that puts the supporter below the critters that feed in pond scum.
I just donated money to the GOP compliance fund in Gwen Ifill’s honor. Felt good.
Just sent an email to jb@debates.org respectully demanding removal of Gwen Ifil as moderator for the VP debates.
Their 202 872 1020 number is busy, what a surprise.
OT, a Dem friend of mine against the Bailout has been unable to get through to Sen. Nelson (FL)….
Hmm, funny how all of this is coming down so fast….
No Bailout!
No Obama!
And, btw, I volunteered to be a GOP poll watcher….training on Monday. That also feels good.
excellent, judy
Good for you, I did too.
Judy L. NC
EXCELLENT.
When you go for training, see if you can bring a camera with you-or better yet a camcorder.
If you are not allowed to perhaps you can ask an independent observer to bring equipment to record happenings.
AND
Make sure you have two phone numbers handy if you witness any irregularities.
Find out during your training session who you need to call.
Also, make sure your local Registrar of Voters is informed.
If you get moment, review the following…

Judy, call the Republican Party in NC and ask them for numbers to their election protection attorneys to call for problems that you observe. The GOP may not call them Election Protection attorneys – that’s what the Dems call them but I guarantee that each side has them and hopefully, they will be plentiful and available to you. Let the GOP know you support McCain and will be going through the training.

Turn on Fox – GE parent company is in financial trouble. Buffet to the rescue.
Karma’s a bitch.
Don’t rescue them Warren. Let them drown!
If GE would let themselves go down with ship 0bama is heading then they deserve to.
It seems all of these people are determined to go down with the ship instead of reassessing themselves from a critical perspective.
I feel like Rod Taylor in the 1961 film, The Time Machine, when he screams at the Eloi to “Wake up!” But they are so content to consume the fodder provided to them by the Morlocks,(MSM) that they dismiss the dire warning. I cannot understand why so many in our country seem unfazed by the tactics employed by the Obama camp. Have we become a nation of Eloi? I hope not!
why don’t the McCain people in OH get some Sunday school buses and park in front of churches or Walmart parking lots and pick up their own voters and take them to the polls?
Considering that we have one of the lowest voter turnouts in the world there are probably plenty of un-registered Rs who could use the same help as the homeless!!

Ditto. This is very funny!
benny,
thanks for this link;
The video is well done.
The producers include excellent arguments that both parties make about major issues like health care, minimum wage, war.
The beauty of this video is the simplicity in which complex arguments are presented to the voters.
Perry Logan is right again. The repubs are only complaining now that their ox is being gored. McCain didn’t complain when the MSM was his base. I hope Obama appoints Janine Garofalo as AG and send all the vile Rethugs to prison.
i fart in your general direction.
That’s why we love having you around.
Perry,
The best way you could help the cause of McCain ‘08 and Hillary ‘12 is to go on the Obama sites with videos of you extolling Obama.
You will have the kids screaming for their mommas.
found this on RCP blogs. No surprise, huh?
Obama Loses Ground, ABC Hides Poll
By Dan | October 1, 2008
Last week Obama was up by nine in the ABC/Washington Post poll and it was front page news. This week Obama is up by 4, within 1 point of the margin of error and the poll cannot be found. Instead the story is Bush’s approval rating which finds a new low in this poll.
Interestingly the internals of the poll are difficult to find. I have been unable to find the party ID of those polled. I don’t image there was much change from last week when the poll was heavily skewed toward Obama.
McCain’s gains this week come on the economy where is plus three and Obama is down 3 for a 6 point swing. McCain also gained 10 points on who could better work across party lines, where he is now only 3 points behind Obama. This is evidence that McCain’s strategy of going to Washington to work on the economic crisis may yet pay off.
http://www.hingeoffate.com/?p=208
The polls are starting to swing back…. People paniced in the heat of the financial bailout. But, as the root cause of the mess is becoming known, the polls are shifting.
People are coming to their senses are realizing who will be the most stabilizing force for the economy and be able to launch future growth.
The Dems have no monopoly on “Economic Expansion”. Far from it. Taxes have a negative affect on buiness growth and cutting taxes has positive impact on growth.
The number one way to attract business to a community or State is to offer tax incentives. We see it ALL THE TIME.
How many State Promo ads do you see that offer Tax Incentives for businesses to relocate to their state?
How many ads do you see that use Tax Increases as a way to attract new business?
The only growth we will see under Obama is to ACORN. And we are now seeing how well that has worked out for the rest of us.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIrzlFYaSks
“Taxes have a negative affect on business growth and cutting taxes has positive impact on growth.”
The opposite is true.
Our biggest economic booms (such as the economic rocket ride of the 1950s and 1960s) correlate with periods of high taxation. Bill Clinton raised taxes and ushered in the longest sustained economic expansion in U.S. history, with increases at all income levels, lower poverty rates, etc.
Little known fact: the much-touted “Reagan Boom” occurred only after Reagan reluctantly raised taxes. It looks like taxes may actually stimulate the economy.
Bill clinton raised the luxury tax, with put many boat builders out of business. These were 100 year and older business with generations workers that now had to learn new skills.
Clinton used Tax Incentives for high tech, and R&D.
Clinton raised income taxes, but the growth came in the industries where Clinton created TAX INCENTIVES.
Clinton regretted raising the Luxury Tax, and recinded it within two years. But even after two years, it was too late for some businesses to recover.
PERRY,
Name one town or state that grew business by promoting RAISING NEW TAXES.
It does not work.
From the Wayback Machine – Ayers and Obama speaking at same function. The media’s been all over Palin … NBC’s had someone interview McCain’s jailer to question McCain’s account. Now it’s time to go after Barry. After all, it IS October.
John McCain and Sara Palin will win this election – I’m not to worried about that. Thank God Republicans have respect for the constitution Democrats only give lip service too, What I am worried about is that all the people that support John and Sara are still paying for cable and not calling for a open internet. Kill the MSM – get limited basic cable. Get your news off the internet where the real work is being done.

1984 big brother is alive and well in 2008, sad sad sad
I work in a major newspaper’s newsroom and can confirm the bias, both pro-Obama and anti-Palin. We are well-positioned to investigate Obama but have done very little. Meanwhile, we have two reporters pursuing dirt on Palin and no one on Biden–whose relationship with the horrid credit-card industry certainly calls for scrutiny, or at least so a rational person would think. But there’s not much rationality to be found in my workplace. Beyond that, judging from the newsroom reaction to the first debate, I’d say there’s quite a cheering section for Obama and a lot of boo birds for McCain. No one even attempts to hide this.
I hope it’s okay to post this here – I tried to pick the most appropriate thread. It’s long, so my apologies upfront.
I keep hearing from people that Sarah Palin has no – ZERO – foreign policy or relations experience, and my question is, why are blog writers not expounding on the following (from her news feed on the Alaska Governor’s page)?

I realize it’s not Iraq, or Iran or Afganistan, but it’s more than Obama had (or has) and I never hear anything about it.
