BSS, You claimed there were no parallels… I’ve just listed six. Who is the ignorant one now? If you read Rebecca’s arguments as I have done, you will see that there is NO claim of genocide or concentration camps. You have IMAGINED these claims.

Rebecca seems to be claiming that there are warning signs of impropriety, just as there were with Hitler. Before you start claiming people are ignorant, perhaps you ought to read what they are actually saying so YOU don’t seem like the one who is ignorant. Perhaps you should also stop being an alarmist Troll.

For the record, my Grandfather died in a concentration camp in France. Get off your high-horse.

Also, Dan, your list above sounds more like FDR than Hitler — FDR was an extremely popular candidate during an economic crisis who promised “socialist” reforms to get the U.S. on track. I’m not saying Obama IS like FDR — I’m just saying your argument comparing Hitler to Obama is absurd and ignorant.

That is true DanO, my own aunt did never make it out of the hospital she was born in.
1940 in Bavaria.
She was born blind and that was considered worthless life in those days. German or not.

Dan, that absolutely laughable, ignorant and offensive. Obama is like Hitler because he’s “running for president”? because the country has ecomonic woes? Because the country is engaged in war?

Those 3 things also are true of mccain, hillary clinton and anyone else who ran for prez this year. I’m not sure why being a good orator makes someone like hitler — i guess it’s better to be inarticulate when speaking?

Hitler’s rise to power came not because he “promoted socialism”; it’s because he specificially riled up the population against designated minority groups, blaming all of society’s problems on those minorioties whom he then murdered, with the tacit support of the majority.

Again, are you claiming that Obama will begin — or attempt to begin — a program of death camps and genocide if elected, as Hitler did? Yes or no, please. If the answer is no, then please stop this intensely ignorant and profoundly offensive argument now.

Hi Linda,
my husband was in the Air Force too, in Vietnam.
Yesterday I ran into this post from a guy that claimed to know how Germans felt then and now.

I quote him: “… a race of people who blindly followed a fanatic power hungry dictator…I guess there are still a large number of Germans who are still having that same worn out dream.”

He was stationed in Germany 1957, 13-24 years after the Nazis and 51 years before today.
I was just questioning how he can know what Germans feel, because I grew up in the American Sector of Berlin and know that GIs did not have so much contact with Germans. And he was there during the “Wirtschaftswunder”.
That was a total different time. Since he was refering to that YouTube clip from the movie “Cabaret”.
Of course he did not answer my comment but went on about Concentration Camps etc., like I wanted to defend the Nazis.
I should really not take this serious, because some people just want to hate.
Anyway, my second answer was “moderated”, that means not posted.
I was really upset, and wrote this one here. I really love NQ.
My point was never understood.
History is far more complex than those simplified comments.
Germany was a young republic, before WWI we were a monarchy.The Weimar Republic was not functioning.
We had extreme debts from the Versailles contract. There was the great depression.
And along came Hitler and took advantage.
The rest is history.
That said, of course Obama has a similar advantage.
The country is in debts, the economy is in crisis, the gouvernment (Bush) is rejected by the people.
Also he has the media on his side. And lots of money.
And he has no problem with cheating his way to the White House. No honor.

Just to be clear bss: I’m not saying Obama’s going to be setting up extermination camps. I’m saying you need to open your eyes to very scary red flags: propaganda-type posters, strong-arming at caucuses, extreme leftist stance, infiltrating the internet, Obama Camp, The truth squads, voter intimidation (calling supporters to ‘get up in faces’), speeches laced with repeated calls for hope and change, questionable associates with violent and/or criminal pasts, youth hordes at his command, hijacking the democratic party, belonging to a separatist minority(black separatists in Obama’s case)and followers like you who no matter what will follow because that’s what he tells them to do. The comparisons to Hitler have to do with the above red flags. He has dictator qualities and although I have hope the country won’t fall under a dictatorship, he may just bring back a McCarthy era of persecution which may be fine for some, but not for me. I don’t like feeling intimidated in my own country.

Perry, the only thing spinning are fabrications of Obama’s history–by his handlers; he is an invention–Madison Ave. marketing style.

Wall Street wants him…the right/left dichotomy is a ruse just as was the old Commie/Nazi propaganda shtick. Both political philosophies were from the same totalitarian model. The individual is subordinate to the society. Brainwashing is a major device; get them young and teach them well.

Divide and conquer is a part of the natural process of domination. The elites pull the strings on lower-echelon puppets. Obama is the perfect robot to cover their intentions with pretty speeches.
