Two New McCain Ads

The above ad is a 30 second spot featuring Senator McCain addressing the political crisis in Washington. The ad below is a Spanish-language ad. It is also a 30 second spot. The ad hits Obama over immigration reform and Biden over his comments that Mexico is “dysfunctional society”. Biden’s comments on Mexico are from December 2, 2007.

Joe Biden shared his views on illegal immigration with an Iowa crowd, saying that the solution starts with big changes in the Mexican economy.

“They’re being irresponsible. This is the second-wealthiest nation in the hemisphere – we’re not talking about Sierra Leone,” the Democratic presidential candidate said. “This is a dysfunctional society.”

Actually Joe, Mexico is the fourth wealthiest nation in the hemisphere as measured by total GDP. You’re forgetting Canada and Brazil both of which are larger economies and wealthier on a per capita basis. And if measured on a per capita basis, then Mexico also ranks below Bermuda, Costa Rica, Chile, Barbados, Aruba, Argentina, Uruguay, Puerto Rico, the Nederland Antilles, the Bahamas and the Falklands. Ah, Joe, so close and yet so far.

She must be reading when the trolls are here.

Two Sundays ago there was a man on 60 minutes. He owned a house in California for which he paid $500K and was now worth $350K. He had an adjustable mortgage and wanted out. So. He took a phoney lease to a bank, used this house as collateral, bought ANOTHER house for $250K that was now a “bargain” and walked away from the first house. Then they showed a woman who did the same thing. These are obviously not poor people. OH. And they were WHITE PEOPLE … just so that’s clear.

This is not an issue of race or even an issue of class. This is an issue of people GAMING THE SYSTEM AND CHEATING. This isn’t even an issue of STUPID PEOPLE. This is really about people who CHEAT. I am PISSED OFF AND INFURIATED that I am expected to condone keeping CHEATERS in their homes. And. One more question. Where in the Constitution is automobile (horse?) ownership a right? RIDE A FREAKING BUS if you can’t afford a car. Enough!!!! Learn to live within your means.

Comment by wodiej | 2008-10-02 08:10:05

the key phrase here is “live within your means”…end of story. People could also walk or ride a bicycle in addition to taking the bus.

There are already adequate laws to prevent this. The fraud provisions in lending that exist now would put these people in federal prison. What needs to be done is spending the money, time and effort to prosecute these.

Anti-Obama sentiment opens up the flood gates to connect him, ACORN, and Franklin Raines to Fannie Mae, subprime loans and government involvement in lending generally. The argument (and the post) relies heavily on images of African American politicians, administrators and executives to make visually the claim that cannot be made verbally, recalling Lee Atwater’s infamous remarks about not being able to say racial slurs which inspires a new level of creativity to convey the message: those people are ripping you off again, taking what is yours for themselves.
–Anglachel

UNBELIEVABLE! People have lost their minds. They see racism in a piece of toast or a bunny rabbit. So, discussing the inappropriate financial and political relationship between a presidential candidate and a corrupt organization that is been investigated in at least 17 states is really a racist dog whistle? I am speechless.

I used to care about Anglachel’s writing.

But when I read that post this morning, accusing me and others of having “hidden Republican racism” because we believe in fiscal sanity and the old-fashioned values of giving mortgages only to those who actually qualify—-be they Black, White, or polka-dotted—–

I removed Anglachel from MY blog roll.

Her post was shallow and insulting, and as a rational, fiscally conservative, Scots-Irish Appalachian who lived within my means, and actually taught for years in a Black inner-city ghetto school, loving those kids, and NEVER seeing people like Jeralynn or Digby or Anglachel give a rat’s ass about those kids…… (Obama and Oprah never did either),

I’m DONE being insulted by the gossipy left-wing blogs who do not have a clue about banking or economics.

Jerallyn ADMITTED she didn’t understand economics.

And so, her blog stays in gossip gutter, and teaches her readers NOTHING.

Kiss my ass, Anglachel.

She said “hidden Republican racism?? Considering Republican President Eisenhower called out the National Guard to enforce desegregation in the 1950s and Democratic President Kennedy continued the Civil Rights Movement, that is a little hard to prove.

A large group of Democratic party members being irate over vote stealing from other candidates and caucus fraud doesn’t make them racist, it makes them patriotic. In 2000 it was Republican white guys stealing votes and no one called them racist.

Why do these people see racism everywhere when it is really about a mystery man, with aliases, hiding more skeletons in his closet than a Halloween haunted house!

From what I read the point in the attack is that the only thing anyone is attacking Raines for is being a dem and being black….wtf? Is that a serious post?
I could really care less who or what he is, he lied and cooked the books to get a huge bonus…but that is never mentioned in the blog at all, which makes the entire posting questionable. To imply that it’s because of redlining and social injustice that people that knew good and well that they would not be able to afford larger payments on their incomes, agreed to accept mortgages that they would not be able to pay.
I sold real estate in the early part of this decade and I had clients that didn’t care about the terms in their mortgages, they planned to sell in 3 years and take the money they made to buy another house and repeat the process again. It was a trend that many fell into, own for as short a time as possible and flip it before the ARM clause kicked in….some lost jobs and some liked the neighbors or what ever, but they stayed, and now are losing their homes because they can’t pay the terms they agreed to. Many of these people just wanted the quick buck, they didn’t really take the terms seriously. Most were white middle-management types, not victims of redlining now set free to buy because banks were letting them.
This twist in logic is used by so called liberals to continue a victim mentality, where no lower income or minority person is wrong or does a stupid thing, it is always that they are a victim of the larger, evil society. This is dem thinking in the classic sense.
It all seems ridiculous that no person with a bad mortgage did this on their own, not one of them were informed. Every one is just a victim of societal greed and predatory lenders. Especially when the family is a minority, it is just not their fault.
For years the dems had me convinced that as a woman if I did not side with them I would be victimized as well. Until the day they decided to collectively kick Hillary to the curb, I bought the mantra. Now I see that unless women, low income households, minorities, and illegal immigrants stay in victim mode, unless we lay down our own power, our own responsibility in our own lives and choices….they don’t want us, need us, or even particularly give a crap about us. Either we “ALLOW” them to save us or we can all just go to hell. What the heck kind of mind works that way? If they don’t have all the power in the relationship then screw us?
I refuse to be anyones victim. I refuse to hand my power over to a group that wants me to be their doormat, just so they can feel virtuous because they are helping me.
I see the dems clearly for the first time in 35 years and it ain’t pretty. They remind me more and more of my ex, an abusive man that was only happy when he was in total charge and taking care of his little woman. A job he loved as long as he could smack me sometimes when I just didn’t ‘get it’ or he had a bad day. I’m not standing in the background any more so the people out front can point to me and say “See how good we are, look at all the people we help” and then kick me out and tell me to stay away if I don’t toe the lines they tell me to.
I’m now my own person and if I screw up it’s on me. No one else gets the blame and no one else get’s the credit. Until all people do the same idiots like Anglechal will think their twisted logic and call themselves virtuous. I find it laughable. It doesn’t make me mad, I just feel sorry for them, I feel sorry for anyone that cannot survive unless surrounded by all the ‘victims’ they are saving. It’s martyrdom, and frankly, unattractive.

Comment by Mary | 2008-10-02 18:16:39

BRAVO!!!

It was the wealthy Black in the Chicago political machine who took more advantage of the poor Blacks in the housing units the “community developers” didn’t maintain.

And Franklin Raines DID cook the books for bigger bonuses: $90 million in 6 years.

If Anglachel thinks posting those simple facts is “racist,” then she’s a bigger fool than I thought, and is part of what got us all to where are now.

Accountability is colorless, Anglachel.

Silly ad.

Comment by Perry Logan | 2008-10-02 07:42:12

Are we not also a dysfunctional society, if our economy is so highly dependent on importing illegals?

Most economists say our economy would collapse without illegal immigrants.

So we have laws against the people we need. That’s pretty dysfunctional, too.

Comment by wodiej | 2008-10-02 08:12:15

Perry, our society is not dependent on illegals. Corporations abuse and take advantage of them. If they were not here, the corporations would not have so many billions to throw at their corrupt CEO’s and rip off consumers. If they aren’t taking advantage of them here, they are taking advantage of workers overseas. There needs to be more regulations…hmm, imagine that.

From the L. A. Times
1. 40%of all workers in L. A. County ( L. A. County has 10.2 million people)are working for cash and not paying taxes. This is because they are predominantly illegal immigrants working without a green card.
2. 95%of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.
3. 75%of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal aliens.
4. Over 2/3of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal , whose births were paid for by taxpayers.
5. Nearly 35%of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nation als here illegally
6. Over 300,000 illegal aliensin Los Angeles County are living in garages.
7. The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegal aliens from south of the border.
8.. Nearly 60%of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.
9. 21 radio stations in L. A. are Spanish speaking.
10. In L. A. County 5.1 million people speak English, 3.9 million speak Spanish.
(There are 10.2 million people in L. A. County. )

Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops, but 29% are on welfare. Over 70% of the United States’ annual population growth (and over 90% of California, Florida , and New York) results from immigration. 29% of inmates in federal prisons are illegal aliens.

We are a bunch of fools for letting this continue This is only one State…………….

Like John McCain says secure our borders and then deal with this. Latinas, Chicanos, Hispanics (not sure of the politically correct word sigh) are the most hard working people I have ever seen. They also do take on jobs that noone else wants.

That said they need to come here legally and be a true American. Not come here with old bitterness from the past.

You cannot hold allegiance to two countries, Barack Obama …..One will win out.

Every nation has in it’s past some conquering of another nation. We cannot unwind time and take it back to what might have been.

Yes, but who doesn’t understand that these people flee Mexico because it’s a mess and they can’t get money, but they want desperately to make the U. S. just like Mexico because they can’t adapt to American culture. They are brainwashed to believe that all the problems in Mexico are the fault of the U. S. and that the U. S. should belong to Mexico, so they think if they can just get a majority in here and take over it will be paradise. And even though they sneak in here and have a better life they mostly hate Americans for the above stated reasons. I’ve never talked to one of these people who didn’t bring up the Mexican War, diss the United States and brag about Mexico.

Ever drive through the suburbs of Chicago where Mexicans have taken over and try to spot an American flag? Nope, all Mexican flags and now they have managed to push Daley to hold an official city celebration of Mexican Independence Day.

Comment by workingclass artist | 2008-10-02 08:28:21

I’m not sayin there doesn’t need to be immigration reform…I’m just sayin’ that McCain gets it cause he’s in a southwestern state. Just how much of the national GDP comes from the agricultural output from the border states….California to Florida… ( which is not technically a border state but deals with similar immigration issues )

Tricky issue…no doubt about it…

Comment by Rob in Chicago | 2008-10-02 08:51:12

Daley didn’t need much convincing for an additional parade and festival to join the ranks of Columbus Day (for Italians), Puerto Rican Parade, Polish Parade, Philippine Parade, Greek Parade, Serbian Parade, OctoberFest in the Loop, Celebrations of the Chinese New Year in both Southside & Northside Chinatowns, each accompanied by generous displays of foreign flags. I’ve rarely experienced or heard of any disrespect for the U.S. or serious expressions of an intent to “take over” the U.S. from the Mexicans who I encounter daily in my work, and while accompanying my wife in her work in many of the city’s ethnic neighborhoods.

Lies about banning abortion to scare women and progressive voters.

I don’t know how wealthy Mexico is or isn’t but I do know there is alot of corruption and drugs there. I think the US needs to help them get that under control if we are going to curb illegal immigration. I can understand why people want to come here but our infrastructure cannot handle the massive increase in people and it is a strain on the job market. I would venture to say that many would prefer to stay in their native country but they need to work and eat. There must be a way to help them do that there. Again, allowing people to come here illegally is enabling the problem, not solving it.

Comment by tek | 2008-10-02 08:08:57

Mexico is a very wealthy country with precious natural resources: metals, gems and oil, not to mention agriculture. The people are poor because the government is a corrupt oligarchy that takes all the wealth and leaves the people destitute. That’s what we’re on our way to in the U. S.

More importantly let us make her book irrelevant by electing John McCain and Sarah Palin. These to people will usher in a new era of plurality and tolerance.

McCain has more women advisers than either Oblowme or Imbibun

He pays the women on his staff on average more than he does men. (this is an average but because the women are more senior they earn considerably more)

McCain’s Chief of Staff is openly gay and has been for years.

None of the labels matter to John McCain. HE hires the best people and looks beyond their physical manifestation to their talents. Is this not what we have all hoped for since the first time we heard Dr. King’s, “I have a dream” speech?

John McCain looked beyond party when he warmly welcomed Hillary Clinton into the senate. He showed her the ropes like her DNC collegues should have but didn’t.

John McCain is a friend of this nation and he has the perspective to see beyond the next election cycle. He wants to make this nation strong for the future for his great grand children.

Also I am freaking furious about Ifel now pulling the race card. God help us if Obama gets elected.

Comment by RepublicanChick | 2008-10-02 07:59:47

I have been saying a prayer for Sarah. She’s been through the ringer, but I’m confident she’ll get the job done.

As for Gwen Ifill, with apologies to Anglachel- who is the self appointed authority on all things racist, she uses the only “trump” she has in her arsenal: race.

When you have nothing to add to the discussion or know you’ve been caught, pull out the race card. Gwen Ifill is just another person excusing her behavior by using the race card.

In the article I read, she failed to tell the Commission on Presidential Debates about the book. Why is that?

Was that racism as well? Or did she realize it would jeopardize her opportunity at moderating the VP debate.

Has Grail sent this to the McCain camp? This is great synopsis of all the nefarious shadow people who will be running our country behind the gold curtain if Obama gets elected. Hope Hannity and Rush and Dobbs have seen this stuff too. Good work by Grail and very scary for all of us. Unbelievable that a man with all of these people in his circle plus the mysteries about his background has come this close to becoming the leader of the most powerful country in the world. Frightening.

Rememberwell –

No, that order is unsigned, which means that it has not yet been issued by the court yet. Lawyers seeking court orders normally draft them and file them with their briefs arguing why they should be issued. Until someone confirms (preferably via the official court docket) that the order has been issued by the court, this is just a possible order, not an existing order.

Comment by Mel | 2008-10-02 08:50:24

The papers are the response Berg filed with the courts, they are legit. When filing court docs asking for something, you also submit the Order you’d like the Judge to sign on behalf of your claims, it is standard practice.

Comment by Mary | 2008-10-02 08:01:12

TO Mel in TX: The DNC would determine who is at the top of the ticket. In order to not disenfranchise their base yet again, they would have to put Hillary at the top of the ticket. That is a fact. I was a political insider for many years and they absolutely would have to make her the Presidential nominee. Hooray for Hillary!!! I am crossing my fingers for her. The only difficulty is that she will be brought in so late that it will be difficult for her to win. However, there may be some questions about delaying the election, etc to get her name on the actual ballots. Say a prayer that Berg’s case can move forward . . . our country depends on it!

Comment by Mary | 2008-10-02 08:02:24

Hillary was the next viable candidate in the primaries/caucuses and that is why Biden would never be placed at the top of the ticket. The DNC knows this already, rest assured.

Comment by csuzeq | 2008-10-02 08:40:36

It is on Berg’s website what happens if Obama is not eligible. I believe it said that the DNC and democratic Governor’s get to decide. To me, that is a problem. At any rate check for yourself

I would love to see this play out in our favor, but I am not sure of the time constraints!

I can see an ad now….

Face The State Staff Report

In a confidential internal memorandum obtained by Face The State (PDF), the Colorado Democracy Alliance outlines a roster of “operatives” who worked for Democratic victory in the 2006 general election. The document outlines specific tasks for various members of the state’s liberal infrastructure, including a campaign to “educate the idiots,” assigned to the state’s AFL-CIO union. Among the operation’s intended targets: “minorities, GED’s, drop-outs.”

Individuals named in the document, marked “CONFIDENTIAL,” “for internal use only,” and “DO NOT DISTRIBUTE,” are high-level elected Democrats including House Speaker Andrew Romanoff, former Senate President Joan Fitz-Gerald, as well as Gov. Bill Ritter’s press aide and former campaign chief Evan Dreyer. All are specially marked as “off-the-record or covert.”

Mentioned as a “critical contact” was Dominic DelPapa, a partner at Ikon Public Affairs. DelPapa was at the center of recent controversy stemming from the February leak of a confidential memo he authored detailing a multi-million dollar “foot on throat” attack on Republican U.S. Senate candidate Bob Schaffer, among others.

In a podcast released by the DNC Host Committee Tuesday, national Democracy Alliance founder Rob Stein explains the need for large, secretive donor networks. “We do not have the infrastructure that the right has built, yet,” he said. “But there has never in the history of progressivedom (sic) been a clearer, more strategic, more focused, more disciplined, better financed group of institutions operating at the state and national level.”

The elitists in Mexico are happy to send their underclass citizens to this country.
The educated, talented citizens come here legally, and integrate into our society.
In the past, when we traveled, our hotels were staffed by white females…no more.
Hispanics have all those jobs.
So what happened to those bread-winners?

Comment by tek | 2008-10-02 08:17:56

Go to any southern border state in this country. All the service jobs and construction jobs are filled by hispanics. In CA you couldn’t get a job in a restaurant or hotel unless you are an illegal hispanic.

I live in Arizona. My neighborhood is about 75% hispanic. Sometimes it’s really hard to tell the ilegales from the legit ones. And, we have La Raza causing same bad feelings and trying to build a class of victims just like the AA victim class that seems to have been created in Chicago. I’m not saying there aren’t both black and brown victims, there are plenty. I’m talking about a class of people who starts to think they are owed without effort, based on a surname or skin color. That’s real racism, but one in which the victims embrace their “downtrodden” status because it gets them perks. No wonder Michelle was confused at Princeton: she could either compete and rise above being a victim (but she couldn’t, when she found out she had been trained for a special low bar, thus blaming others for “raising” the bar); or she could stick with her “blackness,” ie special victimhood. So she found a way in the middle, exploit the victimhood more in order to buy the expensive shoes. Shoes are not success.

Comment by bemused | 2008-10-02 10:13:35

The elite class is happy all right, because the US is propping up the economy. This story tells a lot:
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/sns-ap-lt-mexico-economy,0,7049679.story

Here in Phoenix a law was passed increasing penalties against employers who knowingly hire ilegales. So far, little action from that law except that quite a few ilegales either went back to Mexico or on to another state. Added to that, the county sheriff has decided to go all out on rounding up any ilegales they can find. The other day there was a factoid in the Arizona Republic that 90% of the county prison population are illegal aliens. It has affected the local business. Part of the reason for empty houses in my neighborhood (and were any bought through Fannie May? I don’t know, but I suspect some were).

The only television I’ve seen this last year were the Democratic debates, a few Republican debates, the conventions, (and the Super Bowl. :-)

But I’ve been back on the mainland this last week and exposed to lots of teevee for the first time in a very long time.

The difference in the way McCain is portrayed versus Obama is like night and day. Obama, of course, is by far the favorite. And Palin is a laughingstock. You watch the late night shows and Obama and Biden are not even mentioned. McCain and Palin are ridiculed with regularity. In news Obama is shown dynamic, on the stump. Even in the Senate he’s shown speechifying, as if he actually really belonged there. McCain is never shown doing anything except walking from one place to another, sitting in front of bland backgrounds. It’s always spoken Obama and McCain, never McCain and Obama. I could go on with examples, but what’s the use. I am extremely sensitive to media nuance. I was aware of every bit of it in 2000 and 2004, and I see it happening now again. Even if Obama performs an horrendous gaffeful two debates it will be frantically spun the other way. Even if Palin hands Biden his undershorts, victory will be denied. Obama and Biden have already won all the remaining debates.

I’m in Florida and Obama ads are inundating the place. I haven’t seen a single McCain ad since I got here 8 days ago. What’s going on?

If this keeps up (and I expect it will), then the outcome of this election is already a foregone conclusion.

Comment by tek | 2008-10-02 08:23:40

The media acts as if it is over. Always pictures and interviews with Obama on the lead articles, no mention of McCain. I hope he isn’t really in as much trouble as the media is claiming.

Comment by tnp | 2008-10-02 08:34:39

McCain had such a lead in FL, I bet that’s why he hasn’t spent there.

Michelle O and McCain were both in Kansas City yesterday. Guess who got top billing on the local news station I watched? You got it– MO! That’s odd, isn’t it?

The places McCain goes, for example, Iowa, and the ads/dollars he is getting out there, does make me think McCain has video that could turn this election hugely in his favor!

Comment by Docelder | 2008-10-02 10:35:56

For the “tape” to have maximal effect… McCain needs to keep the “high road” in public opinion. I think the other side knows that and this is part of why they have spent so much effort trying to perpetuate the myth that McCain’s ads were false and misleading. Kinda like the “he did it too” you would see in a kindergarten classroom.

Comment by tzada | 2008-10-02 09:26:30

AMERICANS FIRST BAILOUT

‘I’m against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout.

Instead, I’m in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a

We Deserve It Dividend .

To make the math simple, let’s assume there are 200,000,000

bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman

and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon that equals $425,000.00.

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a

We Deserve It Dividend .

Of course, it would NOT be tax free.

So let’s assume a tax rate of 30%.

Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.

That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.

A husband and wife has $595,000.00.

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?

Pay off your mortgage – housing crisis solved.

Repay college loans – what a great boost to new grads

Put away money for college – it’ll be there

Save in a bank – create money to loan to entrepreneurs.

Buy a new car – create jobs

Invest in the market – capital drives growth

Pay for your parent’s medical insurance – health care improves

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18 + including the folks

who lost their jobs at Lehmann Brothers and every other company

that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.

If we’re going to re-distribute wealth let’s really do it…instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( ‘vote buy’ ) economic incentive that is being proposed by one of our candidates for President.

If we’re going to do an $85 billion bailout, let’s bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!

As for AIG – and others liquidate them

Sell off their parts.

Let American General go back to being American General.

Sell off the real estate.

Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.

Here’s my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn’t.

Sure it’s a crazy idea that can ‘never work.’

But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party !

How do you spell Economic Boom?

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion

We Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC .

And remember, This plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion, more or less, is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

From NYT in 1999

In a move that could help increase home ownership rates among minorities and low-income consumers, the Fannie Mae Corporation is easing the credit requirements on loans that it will purchase from banks and other lenders.

The action, which will begin as a pilot program involving 24 banks in 15 markets — including the New York metropolitan region — will encourage those banks to extend home mortgages to individuals whose credit is generally not good enough to qualify for conventional loans. Fannie Mae officials say they hope to make it a nationwide program by next spring.

Fannie Mae, the nation’s biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits.

In addition, banks, thrift institutions and mortgage companies have been pressing Fannie Mae to help them make more loans to so-called subprime borrowers. These borrowers whose incomes, credit ratings and savings are not good enough to qualify for conventional loans, can only get loans from finance companies that charge much higher interest rates — anywhere from three to four percentage points higher than conventional loans.

This piece was up yesterday…

Obama’s Assault on the First Amendment

In London last week, a frightful warning was sounded about encroaching tyranny. At an important conference, speaker after impassioned speaker warned of the peril to Western values posed by freedom-devouring sharia — the Islamic legal code. Like all tyrannies, sharia’s first target is speech: Suppress all examination of Muslim radicalism by threats of prosecution and libel actions, and smugly call it “the rule of law.”

But we may already be further gone than the London conferees feared. And without resort to the Islamicization that so startled them. For that, we can thank the campaign of Barack Obama.

So we should see gas below 3 dollars before election day. That will have a major impact on the economy. If gas goes down to around 2.50 a gallon you will see a very good Xmas. The people who spend the most are the once that are impacted by gas the most. Gas has been a tax on most consumers that they have never had to pay. I know people who had to quit their jobs because it would cost them more to go to work then what they made in a day.

The Obama channel

ChanNenel 73 on the Dish Network is now The Obama Channel.

Obama’s media buying strategy has been marked by a willingness to work the angles, and to try to pick up a few votes at the margins. The decision to go to everything from extensive radio buys to odd-hour infomercials reflects the fact that the campaign media buyers spend a lot of time thinking about how much persuasion any given dollar can buy, and given a very cheap format — late night cable channels that need filler, for instance — will settle for a thimblefull of persuasion.

The satellite channel is the latest of these marginal gambits: Three readers from different parts of the country email that Channel 073-00 on the Dish Network is now labeled OBAMA. (”What is up with Sen. Obama having his own channel?” asks a St. Louis reader.) The channel plays his two-minute ad laying out his economic plan on a loop, over and over.

The only explanation: The media buyers think they can reach enough people per dollar to make it worth the odd buy.

The channel’s appearance has provoked scorn and alarm on conservative blogs, though, and some discussion on a forum for Satellite TV aficionados, where one user writes that a Dish Network executive emailed to reassure the user that it “is paid advertising by the Obama campaign and is not an endorsement of Senator Obama by DISH Network” and will broadcast through November 4.

Dish Network spokesman Parker McConachie confirmed the forum account, and stressed that the channel is paid advertising, and not a corporate endorsement.

It took me 20 minutes on the phone but I canceled Dish. We had it on 1 tv because it had a channel that cable does not offer and my hubby watched it. RFD TV the one that has Don Imus.

The first ad, calling for unity in solving our problems, is very good. McCain has more charm than he’s given credit for.

But the ad highlights how the miserable performance of his party betrays McCain at every turn.

The call for unity truly touches the viewer. Then he or she thinks, “A Republican calling for an end to partisan bickering? Isn’t this the party that outed a CIA agent for partisan reasons? How dare Republicans talk about unity?”

We can only hope people will be able to separate John from the rest of the Republicans. Through no fault of McCain’s, it’s just a really tough sell.

Comment by snosandy | 2008-10-02 13:50:30

I have been able to separate John from the rest of the Republicans and that is the reason I am able to vote for him with confidence that he will cross party lines to lead us all as Americans and not partisans. Obama has already shown to punish those that have not supported him from the beginning.

This bail out is one of the biggest money grabs in the history of the world. The idea that some how 700 billion can clear up a 3 to 5 trillion problem is laughable at best. All we will end up doing is spend 700 billion and be at the same place we are now.

Let the banks fail that made bad decisions and then come in with a rescue package for the once that are still standing.

In my area the average house hold makes about 60,000. On that you can qualify for a 150,000 loan with a 20% down payment. However most houses that a family would want are still around 180K to 220K. So the prices will have to drop an other 20 to 30 % before people will be able to buy them. We have been told that this is a 14 trillion problem. Even at 20% reduction in housing prices means around 3 trillion in losses. I would like to know how 700 billion will fix that. Wall street is trying to tame a tiger with a stick. I don’t know about you but I’ll bet on the tiger.

Send this video far and wide – to everyone you know. The Obama campaign tried to ban it.

Obama is too much of a coward to play on a level field. He knows he cannot win on issues and policies so he has to resort to his old Chicago dirty, cheap tricks. It’s not going to work this time. Watch this video:

Hi, Larry and Susan. I guess you are a Republican blog now ? Huh? Huh? Huh? Racist too. Gosh, maybe you could add misogyny and homophobia equally too? Here is the accusation:

I have condemned the instrumental use of racism, misogyny and homophobia by Obamacans. Back in early June, I condemned the willingness of pro-Hillary supporters to deliberately take up the racist, ratfucking bullshit of the Right to spread smears about Michelle Obama, in Visceral Reactions. The epicenter for this type of assault was (and remains) No Quarter, run by a Republican (Hillary supporter or not) and very friendly to Republican interests. Recently, The Confluence has begun serving up the same ugly mix, which is why I have dropped it from my blog roll and will have nothing to do with PUMA.

The Confluence’s response is good, as are the comments. Looking forward to yours.

Maybe Obama can remove the hate from his campaign….What you think? Yeh, I know..you don’t know what I’m talking aobut….You sicko brown-shirt.

Ever heard: “you become that which you fear”? Well, well done!….you brown-shirts have done just that– become sicko racist, fascists, mysogynist.

Like fascist alway do, they change definitions of words like “mysogynist” as they go along–for convenience–so they can’t be accused of being what they are. You SICKO punked-out loser fascists.

If it comes to a war…I’ll be elated to lop off those heads of yours…you know, the one you like keeping up your ass and Obamas. Beside we’ld be doing you the favor of you not having to see the day that you get betrayed and sent to the goulagh or executed by your own GOD Obama….I’m sure that would be quite a confusing moment for you….since you don’t seen to know that Radical Leftist (ie. fascists/ communists/stalinist /maoost/ hitler/ french rev/ russian rev etc)…ALWAYS turn on their own FIRST. Good riddance to DIP SHITS….I’m sick of you….sick of thinking about you.

Damn…John Mc.! ITS NOT ENOUGH!!….not hard enough…You gotta pummel the fascist…you gotta make him look like the scary fascist clown that he is. AND NOW!!!!

I’m getting impatient listening to yo act like our granddaddy….WE know you’re a good guy…but don’t make the mistake Bush made: to think you’re above Obama’s and the medias childishness and hence you don’t need to engratiate him/them with a response….

You got to gut Obama and the Media….only then will you be able to win and lead this country.

OH and idiot…be sure to look up the word “fascist” in the Websters dictionary…not the communist chavez version.

If you can read….tell me what it says….anything about traditional conservatives in it?

I think you need to be briefed on some basics

***fascists, commis and hitler were all anti-christian, pro-arab and pro-muslim, anti-semite, anti-free market, anti-tradition, anti-legislatur, anti-democracy, anti-individual, anti-constitution, anti-vote, pro-government as god, pro-every progressive cause you are for–eg vegitarians, environmen, fitness etc). They were radically pro-science and experimentation with people, evolution, pro-health care for all , pro-gov. pensions for all, pro-identity politics, who fit the correct identity…(except homosexuality but officially only), pro-eugenics (sorta like your progressive obsession with stem cell research or baby killing if the sex isn’t right, or euthanasia…wouldn’t you say?)….and of course they’re very much pro-manipulating the news, film, law, the legislature etc so that it makes NO SENSE to anyone. And of course I forget….Fascist they need and love manipulating the YOUTH….the YOUTH are always the smartest

….that sounds so very conservative to me….NOT!!

Just accept it–you idiot..Radical “progressives” especially the radical atheist type have killed more people in 100 years than all the religious wars ever fought combined…….DIP SHIT…..who’s more tolerant?….what do you think set the stage for your “right” to shoot of that trap of yours with impunity”…yah, that’s right: Christianity and christians. Yah, That’s why all previously non-christian countries are shit holes with no freedoms, nothing.

You….and the enlightened one, want to change all that eh?…..but show me a better previously non-christian system….one in which you can shout “i hate president bush” with no punishment…let me help…..there isn’t one. I hate people that hate Freedom, the constitution and their country….HATE EM. I hate you and and your GOD “O”.

Comment by Sally | 2008-10-02 14:06:56

I forgot…..Radical Progressive have an OBSESSIVE need for perfection and efficiency. They cannot tolerate compromise of their insane ideals…..because their God is always an Obama-like person that tells them everything is possibile and and only up to them…they think they have the capacity to everything perfectly NOW.

….the world isn’t perfect and never will be idiots. Sure you can try….but you sure shouldn’t expect it to be….human will alway be imperfect. That’s why we created “God”…to deal with it.

The Republicans’ effort is strangely weak – Obama’s character is the issue and this should be resonating at the national level.

I’ve never seen a candidate more questionable in his associations and veracity – or weaker in experience than Obama. The Republicans should be WELL under way bringing down this fraud. What’s going on???

Comment by Maybe 2012 then... | 2008-10-02 12:53:01

“The Republicans should be WELL under way bringing down this fraud. What’s going on???”

You have an idiot at the top of your ticket. You haven’t figured this out yet?

Comment by The Robot | 2008-10-02 12:58:36

That’s not my ticket, but that’s not the point.

Bush was an idiot, that didn’t stop the massive GOP assault.

McCain can put out a 100 ads a day, the perception that some are getting is that he has lost the will to fight and has given up on this election.

Perception is everything, McCain cannot come on TV and give this slow, deary answer as if he is saying “oh well I lose” does not matter now nonsense, it does not give voters the confidence that he will fight for them.

Everyone now seems to be pinning their hopes on Palin to be the fighter, she is a fighter but how the hell can she fight when the things she believe in is being eroded by Mc Cain and his nonsense, she has to watch everything she says so it does not reflect on him.

Palin was not really fond of this bailout she is a woman that cuts spending at every chance but McCain is all over the place saying this has to be done even though their are tons of pork filtered into that bill, so what can Palin do nothing but go along with it not to run in opposition to McCain.

I am sure Palin will willingly go after Obama but once again that is not McCain’s style so she will have to curb that. This debate tonight is going to get more viewer than the Presidential debate and that is because of one person Palin but the no one will admit that, she is the draw on this election, and to quiet honest she is the dam best person out of all those losers that are running to lead this country.
