“Don’t look now, Democrats. But you’ve been hustled.”
By NewHampster on October 3, 2008 at 1:45 PM in Current Affairs
Ruben Navarrette Jr. in a special to CNN, has the most insightful review of the debate I’ve read.
From CNN http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/03/navarrette.debate/index.html
SAN DIEGO, California (CNN) — Tie goes to the hockey mom.
Who won last night’s vice presidential debate? The answer depends on which ticket you support. If you like Obama-Biden, then Joe Biden won.
<snip>
It is Sarah Palin’s world, Joe Biden just lives in it. Viewers tuned in to see Palin either fall flat, or flatten her opponent.
It makes sense. Palin is one of the most exciting, but also divisive, figures in this campaign. The other is Barack Obama. If anything, there have been moments when I thought that John McCain and Joe Biden were drags on their respective tickets — like during the debates.
Last night, Biden started out making the same mistake. At one annoying moment, the Democrat even instructed the moderator, PBS’ Gwen Ifill, that Palin hadn’t answered a question. He could have said that directly to Palin, but, in a McCainesque moment, he ignored her.
<snip>
I listened to the debate on the radio before watching a recording of it on television later. I thought Palin did a great job of softening up Biden, even using Obama as a club to beat up his running mate whenever she pointed out some instance where Biden and Obama disagreed, and where she thought Biden was right and Obama was wrong. There was no knockout. But Palin has a good jab.
Later, when I saw the debate on television, I was even more impressed. Palin loves the camera, and it loves her back. This is her medium, and debates are her forum. She’s a natural communicator, cut of the same cloth as Ronald Reagan or Bill Clinton.
Who would have thought it?
As the debate wrapped up, I was pulling into a parking lot for an evening speech to a local Democratic club. The person who greeted me shook his head and suggested that Palin had faked-out her critics by weaving a caricature of an airhead. Then, underestimated, the lipstick-wearing pit bull mauled poor Joe Biden.
Could be. The conversation brought to mind the classic film, “The Hustler.” The late Paul Newman pretends to be dreadful at pool, and then, with his mark on the hook, clears the table.
Don’t look now, Democrats. But you’ve been hustled.
Every “good” Dem I know is talking about how Biden overshadowed her with his knowledge but I think Navarrette nails it. They’ve been hustled and still don’t realize it.
Now, if only Sarah could fill in for McCain on Tuesday night and show the world how an experienced executive handles someone like O’Binky.
and don’t forget that Tuesday night, many of us will be Chatting Live during the debate, at Partizane.com

Sarah Palin has proven that she is likable but not ready. It could be argued that she beat the spread but didn’t win.
Which debate did you watch?
what qualifies Obama to running for President?
Because you said so?
I was thinking along the same lines. I would like to see her debate umm..0whazzizname.
It is a shame because it will not happen. But I can clearly see how she can eat him for lunch. With all his stuttering and getting rattled easily, she will get under his skin, the minute she walks out on the stage.
Sarah Palin should go on Letterman instead of McCain. She should be able to handle him.
She can handle anyone!
I have been duly impressed!
I am so very proud of Sarah Palin. Last night, she was representing women everywhere, even those who are intent on cutting her throat. Under ungodly pressure, having been made a laughingstock by the cretinous MSM, and with just five weeks as V-P nominee under her belt, Sarah went toe to toe with Biden - who’s been in DC since the Stone Age, and more than held her own. This woman is very, very impressive. She’s got It and should go far.
The McCain campaign seems to learn as it goes. I am hoping that McCain learned some things from Palin’s performance.
In fact, as I watched the debate, I thought to myself that she/the campaign had learned some things from the first debate between O and McCain.
McCain is who he is, and I think he does come off as a nice guy. I understand completely his inability to think of Obama as a “peer.” Somehow he has to learn the homespun way of smiling while you “kill” them that Palin mastered.
McCain needs to practice this, “Now there you go, Barry!” while winking to the camera.
Yeah, she could ask him “Can I call you O?” and he’d be so upset that she wasn’t going to call him “The One”, he’d start stammering and stuttering right away.
She’s already under 0mama’s skin. She’s everything he isn’t starting with A for Authentic.
Mikey G is the eight year old who goes with his mommy to the polls. Pay him no mind. He didn’t even watch it. He’s just posting 0mama boytroll posting points. They are slightly different from this morning — giving the Governor slight credit — that’s how you know.
Vaginas are never ready. If it could be argued, why don’t you argue it, punk?
Actually, he has a point. Biden is qualified to be at the top of the ticket. Neither Obama nor Palin is (although I would argue that Palin’s executive experience makes her better qualified than Obama). The problem, of course, is that Biden *isn’t* at the top of the ticket - and Obama has a track record of marginalizing those whose expertise and knowledge make him look bad. This probably means that Biden won’t have anywhere near as much influence in an Obama administration as his superior experience deserves.
I think they both did well in the debate. Biden (mostly) managed to restrain his tendency to make ill-considered remarks, and Palin proved that she’s a quick study who can hold her own on the national stage and not wilt under pressure. I think they each performed better than their respective running mates did in the first debate.
Palin has more executive experience than the entire Dem ticket which has ZERO experienc. If Palin isn’t ready to be VP, then Obama/Biden are making a mockery of themselves.
The trolls will be out in full affect today.
THE TROLLS ARE COMING!
THE TROLLS ARE COMING!
THE TROLLS ARE COMING!
THE TROLLS ARE COMING!
THE TROLLS ARE COMING!
Trolls finally got their narrative orders. It’s the recycled ones from the primary! The trouble is that they won’t work on the Repubs like they did on Hillary.
Hmmmm..trolls on the march.
I wonder what that means? LOL
Well, I try to ignore them, although sometimes I can’t help myself. Still, “Don’t feed the trolls” is a good maxim.
The trolls are here.
obama is Neither likeable NOR ready!
Obama is likeable enough to his fellow race-baiters.
heh. correct. it is laughable that obama supporters claim that palin isn’t qualified to be VP, for christ’s sake. Obama isn’t qualified to be president OR vp. not to mention that he is an ego-maniacal, anti-american, pro-islam, nasty-mysoginist-rap music-listening tool for socialists and subversives.
MikeG just simply doesn’t understand.
But America Does.
And barring wholesale election fraud, MikeG will have to get used to saying Madame Vice President.
Oh..Obots talking point orders are back to the old Hillary slam-”she’s likeable enough” but is not good enough! LOL They are out of ideas!
Yep!
Their woman-hatred arsenal “cabinet” is empty! So the Obrats have resorted to recycled anti-Hillary tripe!
She would rip Obama apart.
I’d like to see that debate too.
There is no way ANYONE can argue that a sitting Governor (and also someone who has been Mayor for years) is not experienced or ready enough to be VP and that a newbie first term Senator with no governing or executive experience and precious little legislative experience is ready to be Pres. Period.
Ani — this is the strength of small towns — small town politics IS a debating society. There is no way that a small town mayor can be aloof and “removed” from the daily contact with the citizens.
Then as a candidate for Governor — Sarah also had to have contact with the people and again she was debating and she had to LISTEN.
The ability to LISTEN — is often one of the talents that some men in politics lose. Obama is NOT a listener and neither is Biden. Also neither of these males are used to really debating and standing nose to nose with people who disagree.
Also, Palin is a product of the Northwest — Washington and Alaska are very closely connected. Many of our neighbors have move “south” after living and working in Alaska. A whole lot of Washington residents moved up to Alaska during the building of the oil pipeline.
McCain also has some “small town” experience — growing up on Navy bases is very small town — and then you move to the next small town Navy base and have to learn a whole new political network. Then he was career military — and the Navy is another political & small town experience.
Obama has spent his life being superior to everyone around him that he hasn’t experienced the give and take of small town America. He really doesn’t know much at all about America.
They are gonna love Palin throughout the South…They will love her in Texas that’s for sure…Texas and Alaska have a lot in common…
sensibilities are similar….
Damn Straight! = You Betcha!
Has anyone noticed how the Trolls often get the first comment up on a thread. They must be spending all of their time monitoring this site.
It is true. Palin is likable but not ready. Obama is neither.
But, in 4 years, Palin WILL be both, and Obama will still be neither.
Biden is a 35 year veteran. Palin did MORE than beat the spread. Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows that.
Oh, the irony!
Sarah PalinBO has proven thatshehe is likable but not ready. It could be argued thatshehe beat the spread butdidn’tcan’t win. When you start hypothesizing that Republicans are terribly clever, it’s time to take a break. Go outside. Get some fresh air.
So deep and profound, Perry. So do tell us, just who are the clever and enlightened ones…Dean, Pelosi, Reid, Chavez?
Perry has jetisoned his soul. It is been a profoundly awful thing to watch. Like seeing a car wreck in slowmo and seein the bodies ejected. A sould is a terrible thing to lose.
A soul is a terrible thing to lose … or barter for that matter … or sell regardless of “party.”
I used to think in absolutes, just like you Perry.
Until a democrat mauled another democrat and his wife, stole the election, and racebaited 50% plus of Americans.
NO MORE ABSOLUTES!
It’s an immature, underdeveloped way of thinking.
Independent!!!!
Everything in moderation, applies to POLITICS too!
Moderates unite!
Amen Destardi. For 20 years, I toe the party line, seeing life as black or white, or as blue or red. I’m proud to say that I’m and independent voter now and carry views of both sides. Lopsidedness in politics is becoming a drag.
Don’t look now, but the American people disagree.
It’s like the American public is divided into two: the informed and objective and the uninformed and subjective (to feelings, emotions and empty promises).
Guess who’s voting for whom.
Her “answers” too often had nothing to do with the question. She loses by default.
what defines a good question to you?
We the Americans want to her from the candidates, so it is not about your questions.
She controlled the debate.
She who controls the conversation wins.
There is not default.
Sorry, America is not going to vote “present” on this one.
Sure the MSM will fake the polls but really, on election day just remember you got served.
MikeG Debate 101.
Never answer the question you were asked, always answer the question YOU want to answer.
So when the the “God forbid Nuke attack” question comes up how do you expect some to respond.
Joe Biden restated that Pakistans sovienty bedammed if UBL’s head pops up. That is the same policy as Bush.
What did McCain say in his debate? He said that is not an action the POTUS would discuss in public and for Damn good reason.
Just words over here, and “just Flairs” over in Pakistan. Good luck with life in Peshawar.
Biden answered the questions with false informations.
So Biden gets a big fat 0 (ZERO).
Sarah wins! Especially if the MSM use the same standards they used to declare Obama the winner last week.
What policies did Biden talk about, “mikeg”?
He criticized, but WHAT POLICIES DID HE SPEAK ON?!?!?
Neither one of them said much substantive.
Reciting what you think are facts, but are misrepresentations or lies DOES NOT MAKE BIDEN A WINNER.
All bin biden talks about is his past 35 years in government. What a stale talking point-what a stale Dem VP pick. We are not looking back. We are keepin’ on keepin’ on.
We have Palin as an energy expert and we are moving on and moving ahead. We are going to KEEP GOING. Obamakleptocrats can point fingers on faux issues, panic and cry all that they want to. They only point fingers and talk about the past. Palin is looking ahead to fixing this country.
Bin Biden complimented Palin on what she did in Alaska with the energy and balanced books. Bin Biden says “and Obama and I want to do that too” LOL what stupid jerks. They can’t do it like Palin does. She has stiff laws on the books for environmental clean up to be paid by big oil in case of leaks. Obama has leaks in his state nuclear power plant and there is nothing done to fix it in all these years! LOL It’s leaked into the rivers! Palin would not ever allow that. She cares about the environment. Fraudbama only cares about his personal bank account and his popularity with ignorant high school and college kids
and dead people.
You forgot the voting stiffs.
And Barry agreeing with John McCain 8 times and playing parrot to Hillary during the debates is what makes a winner in the debate? By default my ass.
If we follow your reasoning, then Obama ALWAYS loses by default.
Why is your logic good for one candidate and not the other? It’s a pretty weak argument, imo.
And Obama’s answers have nothing to do with reality - just hyperbole - or words, just words.
I think the excitement around Sarah and Barack is an age thing. This just proves it.
Well, in that case, I guess there would be the same reaction if Britney Spears was running for VP?
Her little ramble about Cheney’s redefining what the office of the VP is about, tells any thiking person all they need to know.
what, unlike the co-presidency as biden outlined? spare me!
i’m sure fauxbama blanched at that one!
You need to read what your Sen. Binden really say before you blog.
Oh I forgot, you have to earn your pay cheque.
This is video of MikeG he look for short/fat punk 1st in line
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUEQz5dltmI
Just like the Hitler Youth — one wrote a book about her experiences as a Hitler Youth — “I Changed Gods”.
So now I have a mind picture of what many of the Obamabots look like — silly, impressionable, zealots.
The one with the largest manboobs?
Constitutionally Sarah Palin got it right, Joe Biden Got it wrong.
MikeG I understand that you have to spew kamp koolaid’s talking points because thats what they pay you 50 cents a post for, but please get educated so you can atleast understand what you are lying about.
Global warming is just as Palin said. Caused by BOTH people and cycles (the release of natures carbon dioxide more at some points in time than other times)
As a Constitutional historical matter the Office of the Vice President was not given as much deep thought as the Congress and POTUS.
Due to the fact that at the time it was possible to have office holders from different parties elected to V-POTUS and POTUS, it was decide to dilute the function of the VP’s office.
The role of the Vice president being left in a Constitutional vague state of existance was a compromise.
In modern times the VP office has had more demands placed on it. So?
you mean Biden’s ramble?
I think Sarah resonates with real people. She is not sooth and slick. She is excited about going to Washington, rolling up her sleeves and getting some work done.
Yes, that is refreshing.
Then why aren’t the American people responded to her? Why don’t undecided voters like her?
Isn’t that all that matters?
Do you have a single piece of evidence that Sarah resonates with “real people?” And who the hell are these “real people” anyway? Do they get more votes than I do?
I guess I’m a fake person?
Sarah Palin draws bigger crowds than Barack Obama does, and they don’t have to be paid, bussed in, and fed to show up like the Obama “supporters” do.
But you guys told me crowd size doesn’t matter.
(Not to mention, 60,000 isn’t even close to Barack’s biggest crowd)
I’m looking for real evidence. Like I said, show me a poll that says that Sarah won the debate, or heck, even shows that the American people LIKE Sarah Palin, and I’ll leave here forever. It’s all you have to do.
Up for the challenge?
Get researching….
Drudge Report, dumbass!
Sample survey size of 500K. Not 500.
Understand, jitbag, in statistics, sample
size DOES matter. Unlike the infinitesimal size of your joint.
BTW, “infinitesimal” means “negligible”.
My goodness are you people slow.
Let’s try this again.
Two different types of polls were taken last night.
One were online polls, on websites like Drudge, FoxNews, MSNBC, CNN, etc. These polls allow anyone to vote who went to the website - several times if they know how to reset their browsers. Thus, these polls reflect the inherent bias in the websites - hence, Drudge reflected its conservative audience by showing a 75-25 win for Palin; likewise, CNN and MSNBC reflected their liberal audiences, showing the nearly exact opposite results.
However, a few organizations also executes PHONE polls, utilizing accepted, scientific statistical methods. They used databases of undecided Americans to randomly sample a representative sample of Americans - 500 in the case of CBS. These were not people who logged onto their website, or even watched the debate on their channel - they were randomly chosen out of all undecided Amerians.
These polls were the ONLY ones which would be accepted by any rational statistician as POTENTIALLY representative of the American public. And they both showed that while voters thought Palin did better than expected, she was beaten by Biden, and made no inroads into voters choosing the McCain/Palin ticket.
If you can show me similarly scientifically, generally accepted data that proves this assumption wrong, I’ll leave here forever. But I don’t think you can, because the American people agree with me, not you. And I can prove it.
Palin beat Biden in the AOL poll too, hundreds of thousands of vote - are you saying that AOL is a right-wing outlet?
AOL is generally visited by older voters, who tended in the primary to support Hillary Clinton (or at least vote for her in their polls), and now many of whom support John McCain.
For example, during the primaries, AOL had a weekly, state-by-state poll. Every single week, Hillary destroyed Obama in this poll in every state. Clearly, this is not representative of how people actually voted, which was basically a 1-1 margin.
NONE of the polls on such websites are representative samples of the American people - they represent the population that visits them. Thus, the poll on MSNBC showing Biden winning 80% was not an accurate poll, nor was the one on AOL, or on Drudge.
However, I’m no conspiracy theorist, and when a large media corporation states that they created a random sample and scientifically polled these people, I believe that they did their best effort at creating an unbiased poll. None of these polls are 100% accurate, but think of the consequences if it was discovered that they actually attempted to pass a poll off as a random sample if they really just called Obama supporters. IS this what you think happened?
‘they were randomly chosen out of all undecided Amerians’. and this poll was by CBS. sure, we believe it. /snark

Always love those “lifelong Republicans who are thinking of voting for Obama” that the MSM seems to find. When you google the name of the “republican” you find out they’re lifelong Democratic activists.
USA Today Poll with 3 million voting and the AOL poll.
But you guys told me crowd size doesn’t matter.
(Not to mention, 60,000 isn’t even close to Barack’s biggest crowd)
It’s True that…
…The Crowd at the Barackopolis was 80,000 people.
Unfortunately for you 25,000 of them were Democrat party members there for the convention and the event was hyped for a week and consisted of millions in expenditures to provide for the all day affair.
It’s also True that…
…Barack Obama’s largest crowd was 200,000 goose stepping germans in berlin.
Unfortunately for you JonnyObot, Adolf Hitler commanded much larger crowds in Berlin for his speech at the same spot.
Also unfortunately for you JonnyObot, While Berlin may be part of Barack Omerica, Berlin is not in the United States of America.
Its also worth noting that Baracks Acceptance speech as the Nominee for President was watched by the same number as Palins acceptance speech for the RNC VP slot.
Unfortunately both were exceeded by the viewer numbers for John McCains acceptance speech for Presidential Nominee at the RNC.
Fortunately, they still let the Leader of code pink in for plenty of screen time at the RNC during John McCains speech so that they could get tv coverage before their much hyped meeting with Ahkmadinejad in NYC on behalf of the Barack Obama Campaign.
Disrupting the Acceptance speech of a great american Hero and then Meeting with Leaders of states who sponsor terrorism and who hate us without preconditions - Priceless.
har har…
i bet that drive Baracktrack crazy… heh heh…
a. hillary
b. mccain
america first!
…or texted…It’s like that pixel commercial, all the little bots dressed in bot clothing waiting for the call to show up and thug.
Nor do they need a rock concert to show up for her.
And she doesn’t have to use free concerts to get the crowds.
where you are required to register to vote and indicate if you support n0bama.
That is what’s happening in Philadelphia.
I think someone is hijacking regular posters names here. That or body snatchers are at work again. Johnny does not sound like himself.
Do they get more votes than I do?
No. But getting more votes than you do is what Obama specializes in.
And if you saw Frank Lutz last night on FOX you would have seen what real people thought about Palin’s debate with his focus group. You Obama folk are so good with computers. There us a You Tube video it. Go look for it. That should keep you busy for quite a while and off of this site.
Palin is a people person. She truly resonates with the average American.
You’re really not that dense are you?
BINGO! Give that man a prize!
Biden, Obama and the Hollywood artsyfa**sy crowd’s smarminess are being replaced by sincerity and they are realizing they chose the wrong approach.
I hear from Sarah Palin she is interested in the future of America. All I hear from Dimocrats is that we are weak, impoverished, stupid, bible clinging, gunning toting malcontents.
Re: Stupid? In 2006 there was a Dimocrat campaign in which the phrase “educate the idiots” was used in a statement, leaked and available as evidence they look down on voters.
Also, isn’t it obvious that Barky has never run against a Republican?
Who told you those damned lies?
Honestly, you Obrats make s— up as you go, hoping desperately that at least some of it will stick.
Gov. Sarah shows excitement in serving the country with Senator McCain & ready in “day one ” to roll up sleeves & work.Obama does not know the meaning of “work”, since he hasn’t work in his younger years.IMO,Granted they win (God forbids ), “Day One” for Obama is to start asking donations for his presidential campaign in 2012,& let Biden do the work. LOL !
VOTE MCCAIN/PALIN ‘08
HILLARY ‘12
God Bless America !!!
Look at the trolls come out. Scared? Desperate? Looks like the Obama scum of the earth are trying to spin things, yet again. ROFLMAO. Palin nailed it. Too bad for the Obama freaks. WE are the voters. I have at least 10 Hillary voter friends who were straddling the fence and are now on OUR side…I imagine there will be SO much more of that. Palin rocks. She will run for President in 12 against Hillary. Now, can we get this over with, elect McCain and Palin, heal the country and wash the stink off of us from the Barky and Snarky (BS) ticket? I need some CLOROX and a wire brush after those two.
OH MY GOD 10 VOTERS?
OH NO.
How about this. I’ll leave, forever, if a single person here can show me a shred of evidence that Sarah resonated last night with any representative sample of uncommitted in this country.
Show me a single poll that used proven statistical methods that shows that Americans thought Sarah won the debate, and I’ll never come back here.
I bet I can get my fellow trolls to agree to that as well.
Anyone?
I’m waiting….
Why don’t you get a real job since this one ends one month from now?
Got a real job, thanks.
If you don’t like me, it’s within your power to let me leave. I’m a reasonable guy. I like numbers.
Show me numbers that Sarah Palin resonates and is liked by the American people or simply uncommitted voters.
I’ll leave in a heart beat.
By the way - anyone have the number for the Obama campaign? Apparently I’m getting screwed. Are people really getting paid for doing what I do here?
We don’t want you te leave Jonny,
Atleast i don’t.
I want to watch your meltdown all the way through election day.
I want to see the hate you spew when they announe the 44th president of the United States will be John McCain.
I want to watch you post through your salty tears what a racist country this is because we didn’t elect OHitler and his TruthGoonjugend to take over the planet and how now the world won’t be saved from itself.
Really please stay because I really want to watch all you obot trolls completely fall apart when america rejects you, the MSM, and the OMessiah.
Go look it up yourself. Do your own reasearch. Your fraudbama hustler is losing.
Go look it up yourself. Do your own research. Your fraudbama hustler is losing.

Why don’t you get a real job since this one ends one month from now?
He can’t - Starbucks has already hired his replacement.
Johnny has a real job and it earns him Indian Rupee. How is the weather in India Johnny boy.
Just keep waiting, November 4th is near.
If you open your mind you will you may understand.
trolls=sexually aroused by Sarah Palin
Oh the sexual cognative dissonance they must be going through right now…
I don’t get it.
I made a reasonable offer. Show me that it is you who like Sarah Palin who the American people agree with, and not me, who despises her, that they agree with. Do that and I’ll leave.
It’s a pretty simple task. Don’t like trolls? Just prove that I’m wrong.
Instead I get these responses:
“Why don’t you get a real job since this one ends one month from now?”
“Just keep waiting, November 4th is near.”
“If you open your mind you will you may understand.”
“trolls=sexually aroused by Sarah Palin
Oh the sexual cognative dissonance they must be going through right now…”
POP QUIZ
Are those the responses of:
A) Spoiled 12 year old brats
B) People blinded from reason by their hatred of Obama
C) People who are perfectly aware of the fact that they are flat out lying and have no response to the truth
D) Rational Citizens
E) All of the above.
What?! No race card?
The quality of Obama’s trolls seemed to be diminishing…
Face it, we already know you won’t leave. You’re the same troll who keeps coming back with a new proxy and name.
You need serious deprogramming. What are you going to do with yourself in a month? Better yet, what will Obummer be doing in a month? Hmmm…I wonder what Reczko is talking about right now…
See ya, Jonny. Keep your promise.
http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/seattlepolitics/archives/149545.asp
I would say that 68% is a hell of a lot more than Obama can muster. Guess money can’t buy you love.
Have a good one.
trolls says this all the time. Trolls ignore evidence even when we show it. There’s just no point anymore.
Johnny, don’t sit online here at NQ (or any other blog) and ask to see poll results. Get off the computer and walk outside and speak to your neighbors. Not the ones who are bleeding heart liberals, the ones who wear hard hats and steel toed boots and carry their lunch to work each day; the female neighbor who works two jobs to support her children, the retired man or woman working McDonalds. Talk to those neighbors, the ones that are the backbone of America, talk to those neighbors and ask how the debate went last night and what they thought of Sarah Palin.
You got it Jonny Boy. View it and weep!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKrk_6QjcNw
LOL. Oh yea, those 20 people put in a room by Fox News sure do represent the views of all of America.
But the polls sampling over 500 random individuals from across the country by CNN and CBS are clearly bias despite their scientific methods, right?
Tell me about the CNN, CBS scientific method. It takes polling companies days to see the effect of a debate, but the CNN, CBS ’scientific method’ takes one hour….brilliant, I tell you.
It takes polling companies that do TRACKING polls days to see the effect of a debate. This is because they compile three or four days worth of information in each day’s poll. Hence, a Rasmussen Poll released today includes three days before the debate, and one day after.
However, the polling done each night only takes an hour or two, depending on the number of calls, the number of people calling, etc.
CBS and CNN aren’t doing tracking polls - they are only reporting how people felt about that ONE debate. They followed the same method as Rasmussen and Gallup, only they only did it for one night, and instead of asking “who did you vote for” they asked “who did better in the debate.” Two different types of polls, both scientific.
Please take a statistics course. You people have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about.
You can do anything you want with your poll by making hidden assumptions in the sampling methodology. Science assumes integrity on the part of the scientist. The polls we are seeing from the media organizations are plainly fraudulent and intended to create the impression that Obama is winning when he is not. Anyone who wants to believe these polls, go ahead and drink it.
ah, I took plenty of stats for my polisci degree, so much so that it supplanted a 3rd language requirement.
maybe you need to take more than introductory stats course to know how polls are manipulated to suit your money man and your audience, dumbass.
‘they were randomly chosen out of all undecided Amerians’. and this poll was by CBS. sure, we believe it. NOT
Jonny, I am NOT interested in providing you numbers, since your mind is already programmed to the empty rhetorics of your idol, who rigged the DNC caucuses & primary elections, to deprive the country of the MOST QUALIFIED presidential candidate, Senator Hillary Clinton. For this unjust & unfair tactics of Obama & his Chicago dirty politics, America is in danger.
Because I love my country, I will vote for McCain/Palin ‘08.
I feel safer under the watch of a real hero, not a self-confessed drug user, Obama. He is a PHONY & a PUPPET !!
God Save America !!!
are you bringing up CNN? who last week touted a poll that said McCain lost the debate and then were exposed because the poll results were 80% from IPS outside of the US from states including iran and was a poll you could vote in multiple times?
Are you on crack? Or are you just in a panic?
I cant tell because you sound hysterical and it could be interpretted either way..
For heaven’s sake I can’t believe I have to explain this again.
Both last week and this week, there were TWO DIFFERENT CNN POLLS.
One was on their website. like I’ve said countless times on this thread, it was not representative. Anyone could vote in it, multiple times if they wanted, even non-US citizens. It’s meant as entertainment - not trying to actually see who won.
The CNN poll reported on their website, both last week and last night, as well as the CBS polls were not INTERNET polls. They were conducted by individuals sitting in a room, calling randomly selected uncommitted voters out of a database of all currently uncommitted voters in America. This isn’t people going to a website to vote, it is people getting randomly called, asked if they watched the debate, and if they did, asked a few questions on it. It’s the same way that the state polls, tracking polls, etc. are all compiled.
Like I’ve said countless times on this thread already, please take a statistics course. You simply do not understand the basics of polling, the difference between a statistically acceptable poll and a fun-online poll enough to make a logical point.
It’s no fun arguing with you when you don’t understand what the argument is about.
good. no point in wasting your breath babbling to me about what you don’t understand about polling to begin with.
Its bad enough a moron like you actually sucks any of the precious oxygen reserve out of the atmosphere to begin with.
Maybe you should wait until they’ve actually had time to conduct a statistically accurate poll. What are you going by, CNN?
Both CNN and CBS both conducted statistically accurate polls last night using standard polling methods and contacting a representative sample of Americans. Both showed Biden winning. Please do tell me what problem you have with their sampling method that makes these polls invalid, but a focus group of 20 completely valid.
We don’t know exactly what their sampling methods were but we do know they are a pack of lying weasels who have been using all manner of unprofessional and unethical tactics to promote Obama. So we just don’t believe their polls. Get it? They are lying liars and did I mention - we thing they are lying.
I think you should wait for gallup in the next 48 hours. CNN and CBS are and have been bias since the primaries
Polla shmolls…all I’m hearing about this morning on every news segment is Sarah Sarah Sarah. Oh, Joe Biddy gets like a sentence in passing. Tough break Joe. Joe was not connecting with us folks when he kept on saying “got that?”. Well, get this Joe, we are not a bunch of flunkies. We were tuning you out not because of comprehension problems but because you were so friggin’ BORING with your Washington speak.
Did you not earlier state that in the polling that some of the randomly selected participants may not even have been watching the debate? If that is so, then how could those participants in the poll be factored in deciding who won the debate? Just asking!
I guess you’ve never been called by a pollster.
The first several questions asked are not part of the “poll”, but are asked in order to determine whether the person is a member of the population they are looking to sample from. Thus, if the person says they did not watch the debate, that is the end of the call, and they are not one of the 500 whose responses are compiled.
johnny, you are so full of caca.
She was outstanding. The Obamabots in my office are stunned to silence. That is a clear indication of just how darn great she was.
“Two quick polls indicated that Biden fared better in the debate. A CBS News/Knowledge Networks Poll found that 46 percent of uncommitted voters who watched the debate thought Biden won, with 21 percent siding with Palin.
“Uncommitted voters’ views of Palin’s preparedness for the job of vice president also improved as a result of her debate performance - from 39 percent to 55 percent. But those numbers are still nowhere near the percentage that thinks Biden is prepared - 97 percent, up from 81 percent before the debate.”
A CNN poll found respondents judging Biden the winner by a margin of 51 percent to 36 percent but calling Palin more likable by 54 percent to Biden’s 36 percent. ”
Note to those unable to read:
“Immediately after the vice presidential debate, CBS News interviewed a nationally representative sample of nearly 500 debate watchers, assembled by Knowledge Networks, who were “uncommitted voters” - voters who are either undecided about who to vote for or who have a preference but say they could still change their minds.”
This CBS poll was NOT a silly internet poll anyone could vote on as many times as they like, such as the one you attacked at Drudge, or the one attacked by DailyKosites at CNN (as opposed to this scientific poll).
This was a poll of a random sample of undecided voters - much like the tracking polls that come out each morning.
CBS AND CNN troll get a reality check,,,,,,,,,,,,lmfao
What difference does it make what source they come from? These are scientific polls which randomly sample uncommitted Americans and ask them certain questions based on generally accepted statistical methods.
Do you understand anything about statistics?
We prefer sources that haven’t been proven to be in the tank for Obama.
Palin beats Biden - AOL & Drudge Report polls (hundreds of thousands voted in each of these polls, not 500).
My Lord.
You people really must take a course in statistics if you want to have any chance of sounding rational and intelligent when talking about polls.
Start with this wikipedia article on Sampling. Let me know if you have any questions.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sampling_(statistics)
‘they were randomly chosen out of all undecided Amerians’. and this poll was by CBS. sure, we believe it. lol
They sampling sucks. All of fraudbama paid polls are under sampled and does not represent all groups. They sample only blacks in heavily populated areas.
jonnyobot,
the problem is that over the ppast 12 months and particularly the past 4 weeks the blatant bias and in the tank-nesss of the MSM including CNN and MSNBC, CBS and ABC and NYT Washington Post has become so blatant and in your face that trying to use them as inarguable proof that your claims have merit is like being caught with your dick in the cookie jar.
Its not only downright disturbing, their is no way you can spin it as i just wanted to get a cookie.
LOL! Really!
The MSM’s credibility now is a big fat zero.
Polls AND trolls are bought and sold everyday.
F Is For Ifill: Gwen Ifill Failed the Moderator Test
By Tim Graham
October 3, 2008
http://newsbusters.org/blogs/tim-graham/2008/10/03/f-ifill-gwen-ifill-failed-moderator-test
Gwen Ifill, PBS, moderating 10/2/2008 VP debate | NewsBusters.orgThere was one player on the stage in St. Louis on Thursday night that really failed to meet the standard of professionalism and national leadership: moderator Gwen Ifill. Her questions often failed the first journalistic test: they failed to press the candidates to take or defend a stand, instead of letting them unload their talking points.
yeah, while watching I thought the question of who was a greater threat, Iran or Pakistan was stupid. we have diplomatic relations with Pakistan, we have negotiations, we work with them to root out Taliban - Iran is an Islamic theocracy with no relations with the US. So how can Ifill equate the state of Pakistan with the state of Iran in terms of how they view the US. am I missing something…
RW She was setting up for Biden. Ms Ifill did this several times.
The Lugar/nuke response was another example. She was telegraphing the questions.
Personally, watching Se. Biden with the shifty eye routine looking at the moderator…and back at Palin…looking for Gwen Ifill to shut Palin down, was very funny.
Palin looked right into camera. When waiting her turn to respond she was not doing anything distracting.
I also noticed a number of times she allowed Joe Biden to rebutt, but she didn’t ask Sarah if she wanted to respond when Biden made accusations about McCain’s record.
McCain-Palin is my ticket. She was fresh and upbeat about America.
The debate may not change minds of those like me who have already decided, but Palin, last night, made some of us former Hillary supporters, who can’t vote for Obama, more comfortable with the other choice.
Remember, Danna Brazile said we were not needed.
Thank you
Palin is the FRESH FACE that we’ve been waiting for!
How did all the BOT kookaid drinking paid Trolls get here?
It was a wonderful debate by Sarah!
Remember, they are paid to sit on No Quarter and flood our threads. Since everyone here knows who they are and what they are doing, they might as well go out and get real jobs for all the use they are to BO.
The Trolls are trying to demoralize us. THey are trying to be “In Our Face”
It is vital that we get people looking forward.
This is a great country and there are faults–plenty to go around. But still we are the best bar in town and we can make it better.
Corruption in our government is at a record high–just look at Barky & Biden.
We need someone who doesn’t fear pulling back the top to see just what has gone bad. Lowering business taxes helps all business. This will go a long way to making new jobs.
Unlike Obama’s plan which gives minorities special tax advantage over other businesses. Affirmative Action taxing is a bad idea we do too much of that as it is. ANd then taxes the crap out of any success you might have.
But we have lower business taxes now. And we lost 150,000 jobs last month. What the heck?
And please do show evidence to support your claim that Obama’s plan gives minorities a tax advantage over businesses. I’d love to see that.
There is not historical evidence that Job loss is directly attributable to lowering of taxes.
However.
raising taxes can be directly attributed to Job losses and Tax Revinue Decline and economic stagnation historically time and time again.
Unfortunately for jonnyobot, historical records did not start when Barack America published “Dreams of My Daddy Who Abandoned Me” and “Audacity of Hypocrisy”.
I wish everyone would just ignore the trolls. I know they are like little kids who will throw tantrums till they get responses- but it will tick them off more with total silence. They are irrelevant. Let’s treat them like it.

As fast as his little Troll fingers can type…
Please go away, this is reality-based site.
lol
Damn, too funny. I can see frantic Mikey G hitting them keys to make the day’s quota.
I’m telling you, they are like the pixel commercial. The call is out and they scramble like little rodents to do their programmed duty…that’s pretty good observation.
LOL!! Wow….
Thanks for pointing out the trolls like “MikeG.”
Flooding our boards with that stupid non-information from the Obama compound.
I love how the media attacks on Palin backfired.
Biden’s 14 Lies
Fresh from the McCain people.
JOE BIDEN’S 14 LIES TONIGHT
1. TAX VOTE: Biden said McCain voted “the exact same way” as Obama to increase taxes on Americans earning just $42,000, but McCain DID NOT VOTE THAT WAY.
2. AHMEDINIJAD MEETING: Joe Biden lied when he said that Barack Obama never said that he would sit down unconditionally with Mahmoud Ahmedinijad of Iran. Barack Obama did say specifically, and Joe Biden attacked him for it.
3. OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING: Biden said, “Drill we must.” But Biden has opposed offshore drilling and even compared offshore drilling to “raping” the Outer Continental Shelf.”
4. TROOP FUNDING: Joe Biden lied when he indicated that John McCain and Barack Obama voted the same way against funding the troops in the field. John McCain opposed a bill that included a timeline, that the President of the United States had already said he would veto regardless of it’s passage.
5. OPPOSING CLEAN COAL: Biden says he’s always been for clean coal, but he just told a voter that he is against clean coal and any new coal plants in America and has a record of voting against clean coal and coal in the U.S. Senate.
6. ALERNATIVE ENERGY VOTES: According to FactCheck.org, Biden is exaggerating and overstating John McCain’s record voting for alternative energy when he says he voted against it 23 times.
7. HEALTH INSURANCE: Biden falsely said McCain will raise taxes on people’s health insurance coverage — they get a tax credit to offset any tax hike. Independent fact checkers have confirmed this attack is false
8. OIL TAXES: Biden falsely said Palin supported a windfall profits tax in Alaska — she reformed the state tax and revenue system, it’s not a windfall profits tax.
9. AFGHANISTAN / GEN. MCKIERNAN COMMENTS: Biden said that top military commander in Iraq said the principles of the surge could not be applied to Afghanistan, but the commander of NATO’s International Security Assistance Force Gen. David D. McKiernan said that there were principles of the surge strategy, including working with tribes, that could be applied in Afghanistan.
10. REGULATION: Biden falsely said McCain weakened regulation — he actually called for more regulation on Fannie and Freddie.
11. IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain was “dead wrong on Iraq”, because Joe Biden shared the same vote to authorize the war and differed on the surge strategy where they John McCain has been proven right.
12. TAX INCREASES: Biden said Americans earning less than $250,000 wouldn’t see higher taxes, but the Obama-Biden tax plan would raise taxes on individuals making $200,000 or more.
13. BAILOUT: Biden said the economic rescue legislation matches the four principles that Obama laid out, but in reality it doesn’t meet two of the four principles that Obama outlined on Sept. 19, which were that it include an emergency economic stimulus package, and that it be part of “part of a globally coordinated effort with our partners in the G-20.”
14. REAGAN TAX RATES: Biden is wrong in saying that under Obama, Americans won’t pay any more in taxes then they did under Reagan.
Wow, Biden screwed up, big time!
Good research, thank you. If any of the above is NOT true, we’ll find out soon.
You left out Biden’s outrageous comment concerning how the US and France kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon. Both Andy McCarthy at NRO and Michael Totten both called him on it. For the man with foreign policy gravitas, Biden seems lost, drowning in the froth of his own eloquence.
You left out Biden’s outrageous comment concerning how the US and France kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon
So who’s firing those missiles into Northern Israel, the Red Cross?
Don’t forget Katie’s Restaurant…. is it really closed for 15 years now?
Add to that:
15.) Hezbollah out of Lebanon
16.)Katie’s restaurant in Wilmington (it has been out of Business for 25 years)
17.)Joey the regular guy–is actually a lobbiest that promotes global energy and Oil intrests.
18.) Biden claimed that the spending in Afghanistan for the whole war is equal to one month in Iraq.
There you go again, JOE. Making shit up and distorting the facts to plug into your “fables”. Biden and O-Soetoro, a team that “change” the truth into lies and “hope” no one will notice.
Say it isn’t so, Joe!
Unfortunately jonnyobot mikeG and the other paid blog trolls from Kamp Koolaid cant respond to this yet because Adolf Axelfraud and Vapid Pouffe have not written and distributed the OMessiah’s Talking Points yet.
However Barney Frank did rebut ever single one of these in this shocking video that every Democrat will love and every republican should worry about.
THIS VIDEO IS DEVESTATING!!!
Adolf Axelfraud and Vapid Pouffe LMAO.
Dude! I thought Frank was going to have a heart attack at the end. Good stuff!
Barney Frank is an idiot in this video. What the heck were you going on about? Devastating for Democrats maybe.
McCain and Palin are my choice this election. All of Obama’s sketchy friends and his orders to get in people’s faces just does not sit well with me. What do we expect from the former lawyer for and trainer of the fine folks at Acorn.
I do like Biden though. I think he would have made a great V.P. for Hillary.
PUMA BABY!
This is a good video that askes critical questions about accountability for the creeps in the middle of this crisis.
Please send it to lots of people.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQtq77RQRf0
I’d probably vote for Biden if Obama got dumped from the ticket!
What many bots don’t realize when they try to figure us deadenders out is that it isn’t about the D. Many of us want to vote for the D, but not the phoney D. Me, personally, I like McCain/Palin, but would vote Hillary any day over them and would truly vote for damn near any D, except Barrakula.
D=doable
Barrakula=deal breaker
A whole month during which America can gradually see that there are the media polls, and there is the reality of the voters. And, a whole month during which team Obama has to wonder where Sarah Palin is going to show up next. Less than 24 hours hours later it is viral that the polls are bs and Palin certainly won, and swayed lots of votes.
Her performance bombed, right on Obama’s head. But the best part is how it opens a world of possibilities in how they will turn her loose now. The bots knew she was the biggest threat to their hopes and now their worst fears are realized. I predict we will be seeing her everywhere during the same weeks when the incriminating documents about Obama’s past start to flow out.
Yahooooooo (and I DON’T mean the internet search engine)!
I can’t post the link, however in case you haven’t seen it, go to YouTube and search for:
Democratic Party War Room.
(probably everyone here has seen it, but it is funny and appropriate viewing for today.)
I really do think Sarah could outshine Obama in a debate, with those one liners and winks she would make uh uh ah look like a total idiot that he is.
Funny is it not that what you have emerging now is a VP candidate from the democrat side looking better than the main candidate on the Republican side running for President.
I say its funny because a couple weeks ago they were all making this woman look like she needs to drop out what a air head she was, and not fit for any government position.
There is not much the media or stand up comics can say now because she sure made theme all look like fools.
Has anybody mentioned the fact she was reading many of her answers?
But I heard on Katie Couric that Sarah Palin cannot read.
OK OK
I have said this before.
She was NOT reading prepared notes.
In a debate (if you graduated from high school and took debate classes you would know this) there is a sheet of paper and a pen on the podium, you are allowed to take notes about what your opponent says. It is called KEEPING TRACK OF THE ENEMY ☺ lol
You O-no-Bama idiots take a look at your messiah during a debate he has notes, he writes stuff down when his opponent is talking.
This poop about her reading notes is a clear indication of how desperate you Demobamites are getting.
Instead of getting paid to get in our faces and try to convince us to vote for your Messiah try getting a job or … go to college..
“Say it ain’t so Joe…you’re and idiot.. Let me say that again..you’re an idiot”
Darn tootin -
Those who have been agonizing for the big guns to fire on Obama are about to get their wish. Then they will see that timing is everything and why it would have been a mistake to fire those guns too early.
Yep.
Bring on the guns! Hey, Barry Soetoro, incoming!
How do you know this? Or is it just wishful thinking?
She took out the dems main player last night–Obama is next. HOW SWEET IT IS!!!
If anyone did have inside information, why would they tell you, a known troll.
Perry; Osmotic observations in thinnk.
HA!
Like the Republicans’ swiftboating of John Kerry in the final weeks of the 2004 election was “wishful thinking,” eh?
Honestly, what I love most about Sarah Palin is her love for this country. Same with John McCain. They don’t say our image is tarnished in the eyes of the world. They don’t whine about how bad things are. They tell it like it is. We’re the greatest nation on earth and we are blessed. I know that they’ll do everything in their power to keep our country great and keep us safe. That’s all I need to know.
As for Obama, no matter what the polls say, I feel his best days are behind him. He doesn’t care about this country, all he wants is the job he’s had his sights on for 20+ years. His whole politcal career has been for nothing except to climb to the next step. Americans aren’t stupid and will start to see him for what he really is..an empty suit.
I think you’re going to see a swing toward McCain/Palin in the next couple of weeks. The more they get Sarah out in front of the American people, the better the ticket is going to do. I’m pleased right now.
Totally - Obama has peaked. Even if he wins, his best days are behind him.
I figured it out why it’s so hard to describe why Obama is bad - he’s a combination of George Bush and Jimmy Carter.
I mentioned that on another website I was on. Most of them dont even know who Carter is except he likes Obama…
Besides gas lines, our embassy in Iran being seized, giving away the Panama Canal, 21.5% prime interest rates and stagflation… there was also this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Carter_UFO_Incident
Sometimes even the little seemingly insignificant things are very telling. But, I do think Jimmy Carter would prove to be more qualified than Obama truth be told.
don’t forget carter actually went to a church that worship GOD and not race.
Beauty.
Maybe Sarah the moose slayer will coach the Mac and give him a few tips on speaking. All the dems were hoping and expecting a Sarah that looked like the deer in the headlights. Instead she made ol Joe look like the moose in the headlights. He didn’t have a chance. And the trolls are witness to that because they are coming out in droves (for Obama resessutation (blow and go
).
I am kind of tired of hearing how Sarah Palin “hung in there” but didn’t win the debate. I am also tired of hearing how she didn’t address this issue or that issue. The losers on MSNBC couldn’t trash the woman enough. This is what I do know about Sarah Palin: She has never screwed-up John McCain’s name, like ole’ Joe did…remember Barack America. She has never said that Mitt or Mike would have made a better choice for VP, like ole’ Joe said Hillary would have been a better choice that he was. I betcha Sarah actually knows that Herbert Hoover was president during the crash of 1929, and everyone would have been listening to an address to the nation on the RADIO. But I am fairly certain Sarah would have agreed with Biden the day he shouted,”Barack Obama won’t take my guns.” A never was (Obama) picks a has-been (Biden) for his VP. What a joke the Democrats have become. I am glad to be an Independent. Keep trashing Palin all you want you koolaid drinkers out there. I think you are in for it now. Get ready!
Why watch MSNBC Obama TV at all?
Indyvoter,I think Sun Tzu said it best, “Know your enemy and know yourself and you can fight a hundred battles without disaster. I consider MSNBC and CNN the enemy. I hate to watch at all, but I do for brief periods, because you have to know what “the enemy” is up to.
What they did to Hillary has made me literally hate them. Remember them going on and on for days about Hillary’s Bosnia comments, and ignoring BO’s fatal flaws?
Now they’ve given icky Rachel Maddow her own show! Talk about someone who loves to deride other females to the glorification of BO.
It can’t be called news to me. It’s propaganda, mind control..whatever you want, but not news.
The minutes of my life are too precious to be wasted attending this tripe. Better I watch old films of Hitler’s rants, or check out the records of the Jonestown or David Koresh massacres.
The MSM is now tabloid TV.
I was shocked at Joe and Mika this morning. They were questioning where Obama is on this whole bailout mess. They said McCain has been on our show 6 times, where is Barack Obama??? Why isn’t he answering questions???
I’ve tried to find video, but haven’t been able to yet. It was interesting to say the least.
I tried to watch the debate as a casual bystander, but I found myself smiling from Palin’s opening statement until the final shot of her speaking with Ms. Ifill, her youngest daughter holding her baby brother, standing at Mom’s side. Sorry, any attempt at impartiality could not be feigned, not even when she said the word “Maverick” one too many times for my personal taste. Sarah Palin is a Political Animal, and she makes me proud to be a woman, wife, Mom and assertive female. I thought her eye contact, and straight forward, matter-of-fact style of speaking was so refreshing. For months I have been forced to hear Obama drone on and on about who the hell knows what, while the MSM collectively pant, drool and excessively heap unwarrented praise on the man. Palin controlled the debate, which makes her the only candidate of all four contenders to take the reins and seize the day. After all is said and done this weekend, and all the pundits add their two cents worth of commentary, the reality is, Palin was one cool cucumber and that alone had her in the driver’s seat. Biden looked at her several times during the debate with an “oh shit” look on his face. It really reveals a lot about the Obama/Biden campaign’s low estimation of women, first: Hillary, and until last night: Sarah. Women might just be smarter than men after all, because neither Clinton, nor Palin approached their debates without being well prepared, and respectful of the challenge they were about to face. Never underestimate your opponent, a good rule of thumb that Biden obviously didn’t adhere to.
Wonderful job, Sarah. You go girl!
Fabulous comment, I’m really strting to feel at home here!
For months I have been forced to hear Obama drone on and on about who the hell knows what, while the MSM collectively pant, drool and excessively heap unwarrented praise on the man.
Yr quote, Liz, sorry!
LizB — You put this perfectly; I totally agree with you. And all the badmouthing in the world can’t make the sight of her taking off in this debate go away.
Liz, right on the money. When she started to tell Gwen and Joe how she wasn’t going to answer the question like the way they want to hear it, you know she’s thinking “to hell with y’all, I’m going to be myself.” At that moment, I knew she was in control.
If the Dems wanted Joe Biden, the Dems had ample opportunity to nab him during the primaries. His paltry 4000 votes to HRC’s 18,000,000 supporters speaks volumes about the lack of enthusiasm we, the voters, feel toward Joe Biden as an option for POTUS or VEEP. My question is: Why would we Pumas suddenly change our minds and decide this guy, Joe Biden, is any sort of substitute for Sen Clinton who would have won the primaries handily were it not for the fix that was already in for BO.
Anyone who claims Gov Palin did not win the debate last night is engaging in Democratic think where that which is factual is dismissed and that which is a fabrication is twisted into the Dems own brand of falsehood passed off as truth. The Dems learned this rather dubious skill as apprentices to the liberal MSM.
Palin has integrity and credibility on her side. She will call Obama and Biden out on their half baked truths and flagrant lies.
Bide falsehoods updated to 22 fabrications - say it ain’t so, Joe!
The Biden Error/Lie/Hallucination List (UPDATED to 22)
Below, you’ll find a list of 14 “lies” Biden told last night, distributed by the McCain campaign. I’d just note two observations: first, when you tell stories of things that didn’t happen with the frequency of Joe Biden, coupled with his fervent belief of these untrue and inaccurate statements, I don’t think “lie” is the appropriate term. “Hallucinations” seems more accurate, I think. Second, they missed a bunch, so Biden’s list of li- er, hallucinations is well beyond 14.
THE CONSTITUTION: Biden: “Vice President Cheney’s been the most dangerous vice president we’ve had probably in American history. He has — he has — the idea he doesn’t realize that Article I of the Constitution defines the role of the vice president of the United States, that’s the executive — he works in the executive branch. He should understand that. Everyone should understand that.”
As noted by the McCain Camp, Article I of the Constitution does not, in fact, define the role of the Vice President of the United States. It defines the role of the legislative branch, otherwise known as the branch in which Joe Biden has served for the last 36 years.
[A reader writes in noting that Article I does mention the veep at one point — "The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be equally divided." However, by describing the veep's role in the legislature, it doesn't really help Biden's claim that it "defines the role, that's the executive, he works in the executive branch."]
IRAQ-AFGHANISTAN SPENDING: Biden said that the U.S. spends more in Iraq in one month than it has in Afghanistan in six or seven years.
That figure is off by 2000 percent.
‘KICKED HEZBOLLAH OUT OF LEBANON’: Biden: When we kicked — along with France, we kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon, I said, and Barack said, ‘Move NATO forces in there. Fill the vacuum, because if you don’t know — if you don’t, Hezbollah will control it.”
Reuters thinks he meant to refer to Syria, but I still don’t think it would be accurate to say the U.S. kicked Syria out of Lebanon. The Lebanese kicked Syria out of Lebanon.
VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ACT: Biden’s statement that McCain voted against the Violence Against Women Act is accurate. But as Robert Byers notes, the Supreme Court ruled in United States v. Morrison, the Court ruled that much of Biden’s law was an unconstitutional power grab by Congress of rights reserved to the states. Nobody voted against the WAWA because they support violence against women; they objected over constiutional concerns that a Supreme Court majority validated.
The McCain camp’s list fourteen lies/hallucinations can be found here.
UPDATE: As I suspected, there are others.
RESTAURANT: “Look, all you have to do is go down Union Street with me in Wilmington or go to Katie’s Restaurant or walk into Home Depot with me where I spend a lot of time and you ask anybody in there whether or not the economic and foreign policy of this administration has made them better off in the last eight years.”
According to this Delaware site, Katie’s Restaurant is no longer in business; locals remember it on Union Street 25 to 30 years ago.
ARMS CONTROL TREATY: Biden: “Number two, with regard to arms control and weapons, nuclear weapons require a nuclear arms control regime. John McCain voted against a Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty that every Republican has supported.”
I have no idea where Biden gets this “every Republican has supported” claim, as 49 other Republican senators voted ‘no’ with McCain.
When the roll was finally called on October 13, the resolution to ratify the CTBT (including the six safeguards that Daschle had submitted as an amendment) was defeated by a 51-48 vote with one abstention. (See the voting record.) Forty-four Democrats voted for ratification as did four Republicans: John Chafee (R-RI), James Jeffords (R-VT), Gordon Smith (R-OR) and Arlen Specter (R-PA). Fifty Republican senators and one independent (Robert Smith of New Hampshire) voted against ratification, and Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV) voted “present.” The treaty fell 19 votes short of achieving the necessary two-thirds majority necessary for ratification.
WEST BANK ELECTIONS: Biden: President Bush insisted on elections in the West Bank, when I said, and others said, and Barack Obama said, ‘Big mistake. Hamas will win. You’ll legitimize them.’”
The Washington Post’s Glenn Kessler notes that “Obama had been a senator for only a few days when the election took place, but if he made such statements, they did not appear in news reports or transcripts that are contained in the Nexis or Factiva databases.”
PAKISTANI WEAPONS: “Pakistan already has nuclear weapons. Pakistan already has deployed nuclear weapons. Pakistan’s weapons can already hit Israel and the Mediterranean.”
I won’t quite chalk this up as a lie/hallucination, but Biden is on shaky ground here. (See below.) The distance between Israel and Pakistan is 2,085 miles, or 3355 kilometers. The longest-range existing strategic missile in the Pakistani arsenal has a range of 3000 kilometers, but it might have longer range with a lighter payload. (But how much can you lighten a nuclear payload?) They are working on developing longer-range missiles; maybe Biden knows of some development that public sources do not yet know about. Theoretically, the Pakistanis could put the weapon on a boat and then sail it to the target, but by that standard, any site on a coast in the world is within their range.
ANOTHER UPDATE: This site indicates that the top range of Pakistani missile that can carry a nuclear warhead is 1000 miles. By being off by 1,000 or so, I’m now upgrading this to full lie/error/hallucination status.
10/03 10:14 AM
The Dems better watch out, their own “Truth Squad” just may have to arrest them!
lmao!
It did happen in Missouri, after all!
No wonder Biden fled the state so fast!
Durn, he coulda been apprehended!
The obamacrats got hustled, all right. Problem is, that they hustled themselves. (Something of an achievement … a BAD one.) They believe their own propaganda about how awful and unprepared Palin is. Then she comes along and blows that clear out of the water.
God speed for Hillary she now has to serve the one. Will Pelosi, Dean, Brazile, Richardson, and Kerry still be there in 2012 if BO looses? Is Hillary in the wrong party ? Would she have a better chance as an independant? I was so for the dems and now I realize many of them are liars and crooks with all their Fannie, Freddy and acorn cash cows.I still love Hillary and Bill. God speed!
His whole politcal career has been for nothing except to climb to the next step. Americans aren’t stupid and will start to see him for what he really is..an empty suit
What McCain MUST do now is to expose Uhbama as an empty suit filled with cliches, to get him flustered and stuttering. Too many people still think Uhbama, even some conservatives like Krauthammer think that he’s a “first class intellect” and “first class temperament”. They drink the MSM Kool Aid, watching him speak in that theatrical voice off the teleprompter. Not enough people have seen him stammer when challenged, which to me indicates someone who can’t think on his feet. Intelligence isn’t the ability to articulate rote talking points, but to assess fluid situations and decide quickly.
McCain isn’t Bush by a long shot, but fairly or unfairly, people in stressed economic situations blame the party holding the WH. What McCain has to do is place big doubts in the ObameSSiah’s ability to think and act clearly in a crisis.
As other comments have pointed out, that Dr. Krauthammer appears to have fallen for BO’s dog-and-pony-show is significant. I agree; BO’s intellect is only part of the act. JMc finally needs to say - much like his VPOTUS pick said last night - this emperor has no clothes.
Obama has such a mediocre intellect. Where do people get the idea he is smart? I think it’s merely the baritone voice.
All of Obama’s debate answers are meandering vague generalities. He is like the high school student who didn’t study and is just winging it.
It’s all part of the propaganda that the MSM has been instructed to use. What’s the saying about repeating a lie so many times that people believe it’s the truth? I think the superior intelligence myth about Barack, is just one of the talking points suggested by “Obama camp” way back before the primaries first got under way.
OT, but does anyone here have any legal expertise that could advise exactly what can be done in Virginia about the Teachers Union? The post appeared last night that Fox had uncovered an email distributed to all Educators in Virginia’s Public Schools to wear blue, as a sign of support for Barack Obama. Apparently, they were also told to encourage students to wear blue, as well. There was a link provided, and it appears to be legitimate. My question, as a parent of children who attend public schools in Virginia, is this: are there any laws established which prohibit political campaigning in a public school setting, especially when it is being condoned and encouraged by the teachers and administrators?
I am in the process of writing some Letters to the Editors of local papers, and I was thinking of calling some local news organizations, but I almost want to go after the NEA of Virginia legally. Any thoughts?
Organize parents to take your kids out of the school. They’re not learning anything anyway. Make the school district suffer financially from loss of state funding. The only way to get the message to them is $$$$$.
exactly! if obama’s grades were good, they’d be released. you can count on that!
What McCain needs to do is come up with a tax proposal that doesn’t show more extreme favortism to the wealthy while simultaneously disregarding the middle and working classes, who are bearing the brunt of year after year of republican fiscal irresponsibility.
McCain may not be Bush, but McCain’s economic policy is Bush’s economic policy.
Look at this - economic crisis has people doubting Obama, because of his inexperience and his voting “present” reticence:
I’ve been saying this since January:
Obama’s lack of experience will bury him on November 4th.
When the rubber meets the road, most Americans dot NOT want to vote for yet another President - Democrat nor Republican - with way too much inexperience and way too much arrogance.
This country already elected one of those “types” to the White House. Twice. In the past eight years. And just look at the state of this country.
Most Americans are not willing to take that chance again.
jonny, let me get this right. You think a “poll” of 500 poeple from a network that is a third arm to obama’s campaign is exactly how all 70 million viewers at home felt?
hahahahahahaaa.
Last nights debate tuned in at what may be the highest amount ever for any debate. The figure above is not how many tuned in but it was a HUGE audience 40% more than the last presidential debate.
500 “random” folks from the Roland Martin network or Charlies channel either. Frankly, it is idotic to suggest that 500 poeple mean the rest did as well.
Maybe i should just qoute Frank Luntz’s focus group who unamously said she won, right Jonny?
Hey Paid Trolls,
Do you REALLY think that CBS, CNN, MSNBC, etc. have ANY credibility with VOTERS anymore? Is that, perhaps, why we don’t watch them? Is the bias why Oprah’s viewership is down by 25%? And her magazine the Big O is tanking too? Hmmmm….Trolls, we don’t care about WHO Barky and Snarky paid off. We don’t CARE if the media is in Osama Biden Laden’s pocket. The Muslim terrorist and his leering, pervo sidekick are TOAST.
If you would have told me that I would be a FOX viewer a year ago I never would have beleived it. Never watch those propaganda eletist networks again. It’s somthing we can all do that sends a clear message.
We watch Fox because they’re willing to talk about us–and we know they’re willing to talk about us, not because they’re a good news channel, but because they will do anything to hurt Democrats. These people are not our friends.
I recommend watching Fox mainly when they cover Obama and PUMA. But they are not a channel to trust. Studies show that people who rely on Fox for their news are significantly more disinformed than people who get their news from other sources.
“disinformed”? That’s not a word. Funny, the context you tried to use it, though. Ha.
“Disinformed?”
I thought the word was “misinformed.”
Looks like you and the rest of the Obrats are proving to be the “low information” voters.
I’ve been thinking the same thing for a few weeks now. Boy have my eyes been opened.
Sarah Palin gives even more meaning to the words of that great fighter, Cassius Clay, a/k/a Muhammed Ali, “FLOATES LIKE A BUTTERFLY AND STINGS LIKE A BEE”.
I heard a panel discussion on Latino media on the radio the other day; Navarette was one of the speakers and he came across really well, very bright and not blinded by either side in this election. I enjoyed his piece posted above.
Only MSNBC show worth watching is Morning Joe.
The flurry of troll activity validates the Palin win. The poor dears are worried. They should be out campaigning for and donating to Obama. I shall pray for them.
When I try to put myself in the mind of a bot (shiver) I guess I would think that if the pumas want to believe the polls are biased and I thought they were all accurate and scientific, I would just say - good, let the pumas delude themselves. Yet, we have a bunch of bots today who seem intent upon convincing us that they polls are genuine. The psychology of this is simple:
If We Aren’t Scared - They Have To Be!
Remember that, and don’t be scared… we ARE winning!!
ELECTORAL VOTE:
Obama- 331.2
McCain- 206.8
Michigan pulling out of Michigan, possibly PA.
It is amazing to me that in the end McCain will have failed in a way not all that different from how Hillary failed during the primaries. Failure to see the bigger/biggest picture and plan strategy accordingly. Given the additional advantage McCain had of watching the primary campaign through May, one would have thought their lessons would be drawn first and foremost from her actions or lack of.
Instead they basically took over Hillary’s strategies and pressed them further.
The Obama campaign meanwhile stuck to an incredible amount of prep work and research done by Plouffe and Co., ignored distractions, played the 50-state strategy extremely well given the circumstances, gambled on turning down public financing, gambled on rejecting the town-halls and basically ran a flawless campaign January through October.
I can’t wait to read the insider book. (Plouffe, you are going to write a book right?)
Has no one ever told you not to count your chickens before they’re hatched?
I hate to tell you this, but this race is far from over.
I’ve always wondered when Michigan would pull out of Michigan. I got news for you - McCain WILL win PA, and OH and FL and Obama will not turn a single red state blue.
Palin said on fox today she has fired off a E-Mail to McCain pleading with him to let her go to Michigan…she thinks she can still turn them RED..GOOO Sarah!!!
Where the hell does Michigan think it’s going?? LOL!
Maybe Jade meant Michigan was pulling out of LAKE Michigan.
I hate when that happens.
Don’t forget the Caucus frauds in the Primary and blatant cheating going on now by acorn.
“If you’re not cheating you’re not trying.”
That should be the Obama motto.
don’t count your chickens before they come home to roost sweetie.
Heck I like Sarah even while disagreeing with some of her personal views.
That was the argument Dems used against Hillary - she’s not “likeable enough”.
So it seems a man, with far less experience, should be elected President because people like him.
A woman? She has to be likeable and far more experienced. Funny thing is, even Republicans warmed to Hillary during the campaign. There’s no denying she has more experience than Obama.
But Hillary still wasn’t good enough. Neither is Palin. The Governor of the largest state that personally controls a budget far larger than any Obama ever has still isn’t good enough to be VP. Not President mind you but VP.
Liberals and progressives, both male and female have spoken. Women, stay home. Even if you’re a member of our party and share our views we don’t want you. We’ll even trash a woman that does agree with us on the issues.
What I’m hearing is no women no way in the WH as Prez or VP. Liberal or conservative - it doesn’t matter.
You know, learning more and more about her, I am not so sure I even disagree with her views anymore. She does not support gay marriage, none of the candidates do, as a gay man neither do I, but because of her gay & lesbian couples have benefits because of her. She believes science should teach evolution but also believe God has a hand in all of this. She always supports life but does not think abortion should be illegal. She hunts - so what, she is from Alaska, the frontier, they hunt for food. She does not believe “man alone” is responsible is the cause for global warming, hello, the earth is a living and changing planet. The media did a good job of scaring every one, this woman is middle America.
You look at the 2008 democratic primary maps, most of the map in every state was Hillary country except the small areas surrounding populated metropolitan cities. Who really does not believe the people of these cities belong to Sarah?
Off Topic:
I went to my yoga class this morning. At the end of it, our instructor (and then most of the students), started to chant “O-BA-MA, O-BA-MA,” rather than “OM.”
I said out loud I was offended and the chant “O-BA-MA” was inappropriate and several of the students stormed out of class. Others argued with me. I explained this was a yoga class, and not a cult or political forum for Obama.
I felt like I was surrounded by cult figures trying to get me to conform through chanting and then intimidation.
This was the strangest thing I have ever experienced. Not even Scientology members gave me this creepy feeling during my undergraduate days when they were trying to convince me to attend their meetings.
Anyone else experience or hear of this?
Nope, but its sure bad yoga practice. Bad energetics.
There is a group of people that I worked very closely with on a *liberal* cause in my hometown a few months back. Well, we all ran into one another in the parking lot of our local grocery store two weeks ago, and when they learned that I was not voting for Obama, they attempted to stare and debate me down. They had ZERO interest in my reasons: Obama’s lack of accomplishment, his past associations, Obama’s lack of leadership and experience; they simply could not be bothered by such pesky distractions as facts and reality.
I told them that I would not be changing my mind and their level of intolerance toward my own personal choice was breath-taking.
A scary, freaking group of people. Honestly, they were cult-like. I know exactly what you mean…
I was in line at the grocery store when a young man in back of me said “you are voting for Obama aren’t you?” “No” I replied. “Why are you voting for him” I asked?
“Because he is the man” he said.
I said “you need to do some research on your candidate” “Reseach” he replied. “Fuck you”.
well wasn’t that an intelligent response to you! Pathetic bunch they are.
sorry to hear that you had to put up with such behaviour. are these people insane? its like a huge cult.
I work with a whole bunch of Obamabots, although I’m in the heart of liberal Obama territory in SF but to honest, I still don’t see a whole lot of Obama stuff here.
Generally I avoid the politics because you just don’t know with the Obama people and what they would think if I said I’m supporting McCain. Whenever they talk about Obama I just shake my head and agree.
That is fucked up.
I would find out who owns the gym and cancel your membership and tell them exactly why
Just watched the debate. Sarah schooled Biden. Holy smoke!
I like Obama and Biden, they are my CAR SALESMAN type of a guy.
I just watched the debate too and Palin served Biden up on a platter with an apple in his plastic-surgeried mouth! WOW!
McCain/Palin!
McCain the Maverick
Palin the
Palin the Reformer
Breaking on Gretawire - Obama supporter on Obama/Biden website instructs how to mess up Fox VP poll (why are we not surprised by these thugs):
http://gretawire.foxnews.com/2008/10/03/senator-obama-website-blogger-says-to-mess-up-gretawire-poll/#comments
The Obama supporter merely gives the link http://gretawire.foxnews.com
If someone on No Quarter posted this link would you consider that messing up the GretaWire poll?
By the way, we’re talking about the “Greta Wire” poll. The poll that is on her blog. Not a poll that anybody anywhere ever quotes.
So why in the hell are some of your fellow Obamabrats so damned worried about messing up that poll?
One issue i haven’t seen mentioned much, was some disturbing rumors on Gretawire after the debate last night. There were many reports about being able to vote multiple times for Biden on the MSM polls, but only once for Palin. Also, on one “letter grade” poll about debate performance was rigged to still always give Biden a high mark & Palin a low mark regardless of voter input. I couldn’t reliably evaluate those claims because i have flashplayer issues that often limit my online interactions, but in the hours after the debate more & more posters were complaining about the same problem. Even one fellow from Spain was claiming similar issue.
Did any of the rest of you experience this?
I also listened on radio for the first run of it. Then later I watched the replay on TV. I too found the same thing. On radio, just hearing it, I found her going toe to toe with Biden, getting in good jabs and bringing out facts that were never discussed before…like Obama’s vote on the tax subsidies for Exon Mobile…and how she had to combat that in Alaska to UNDO the damage of congress.
When I watched it on TV, it was even better. Sarah has her own personal style and it takes becomming familiar with. But now that I’ve seen her mid-west sort of style, her bluntness, her humor….I like her even more. Watching Biden’s body language was so entertaining. I think he breathed easier as the questions turned to Iraq. As if he felt an easier time coming. But then, in my opinion, she kicked his tail on Iraq. He simply had no place where he could get his head above the water good, because she just kept coming back at him.
“Ahh, say it ain’t so Joe”….I fell in love.
And then the closing statement about the choice for November 4th. She said that freedom doesn’t pass to our children through our bloodstream. Her remarks that we don’t want to sit on our porch in our sunset years and tell our children, and children’s children, about what it was like back when men and women were free. So touching and hits right at home and heart for all of us right now.
I’m so proud of her.
Sarah Baraccuda is our MESSIAH! She is our fresh face Goddess. Go Sarah!
No deifying leaders in the United States of America.
Leave that crap for loonies in Barack’s Omerica.
Palin will only get better with time, too, just like happens with all good candidates.
I hope that McCain will really start his campaign now that the so called “Rescue” bill has been passed and signed into law.
I am not entirely sure what they are waiting for.
They are waiting for the third presidential debate on the economy. The Debates are the only venue where they can lay it out for the american people without being filtered and censured by the media.
Now that the bailout is in place he cant be blamed for being partisan and blocking it so now he can say thats why he kept his mouth shut cause the crisis needed to be dealt with but the american people deserve straight talk about what happened and why.
Don’t worry about all the polls showing Obama in the lead. The “whitey” tape will come out soon, followed by the release of Obama’s real birth certificate and his Indonesian adoption papers. Then Obama will be toast.
I can guarantee that the Democrats are ready for the whitey tape.
I have it on good solid information from one of the diariahists at Daily Kos that there is a video being digitally enhanced right now showing Pamela Pailin Getting it on with a Moose.
…and then blowing the moose away.
We’re not. But you should be.
You’re being fed a false sense of security by the pollsters & the MSM.
The MSM doesn’t represent most American voters. They never did.
Don’t look now, Democrats. But you’ve been hustled.
By George Soros.
Called McCain’s headquarters in Northern Virginia today. Spoke with an advance man, former Clinton advisor. Told him many of us Dems for McCain are out here waiting for him to expose this fraud–he couldn’t care less about the poor or the middle class, economy is not his strong suit–he hasn’t done crap for anyone in his entire life except drag people off the street and register them with a phony address–that’s his community organizing. He has no friends that he’s known for 20 years like Palin and McCain that ever vouch for him–the only friends he’s had are anti-American crazy people, felons and radicals. This is who people are voting for. McCain needs to attack, attack, attack now.
One more thing, Palin should have nailed him on the education topic last night–her kids go to public schools, Obama can’t even send his kids to the Chicago schools they’re so bad, he sends them to a school that costs 20,000 a year.
Check out Johnny use of “YOU PEOPLE”
More of that us versus them mentality we’ve all loved so much for 8 years under Bush.
Senator Obama’s “followers” very much exhibit an us vs. them mentality. That is why they resort to their dismissive attacks or diminishing language. As if anyone who doesn’t see eye to eye with them are fools. If that doesn’t fly they’ve always got the white = racist card.
a bit of humour…..a song titled ‘I got a crush on my vp’. hilarious…

You can add O’Barky to the list of just living in Sarah’s world.
Last night was Music night for me and some of my jazz buddies… Jazz crosses political boundaries quite well. We play long and hard so there wasn’t any debate viewing for us… I was gonna watch it afterward. (and did! WooHoo!)
The debate ended and my friend’s wife, who had been at an Obama fest at some tavern, returned. One of us players just had to know how things went but they all know where I stand so he dropped out of the tune to talk with her.
I could overhear there discussion a little and it sounded like they were talking about someone dying… THEY knew that Sarah had pummeled Biden and they couldn’t explain it.
Cool
Our local newspaper showed photos from two different bars where supporters had congregated and the picture of the Obama camp looked like they’d all just found out their kids were busted at an orgy and the Sarah camp all were smiles and laughter. Those are Polls you Can believe…
