My teacher taught to focus closely on the front sight through the back sight and line those two on the fuzzy target in the distance. It really works! Enjoy!
I have trouble on NQ getting any of the posted tapes to run continuously. Instead, they stop and start spontaneously and its harder to follow the ad - loses its impact. I’m glad to see some powerful and hard hitting ads going out. I’ve heard nothing about putting more ads or resources into Virginia. In the last day or so, it hasn’t been mentioned as one of the battlegrounds. Please say it ain’t so.
Suggestion: Make sure the page has fully loaded before you start a YouTube video. Also, try other Web sites with YouTube, you may find it a similar problem with teh download time of videos. I have problems everywhere when I’m using my wireless connection and my laptop, but not with my wired desktop computer.

This will sound strange, but I’ve found that if I move my mouse around, like in a little circle, for some reason the Youtube videos load faster.

I am surprised that there have not been more ads on Obama’s positions against gun manufacturer and ownership. More needs to be said on this.

In poll after poll, a vast majority of Americans want more gun control. So this ad will only be effective with the minority of people know affectionately as “gun nuts.”
A note on strategy for fellow NQers. If we want to beat Obama, we can’t keep using issues that only fly with people on the right. For example, it’s fun to call Obama a communist. But I assure you, normal people aren’t afraid of communists or people confiscating their guns.
You must be referring to all those bitter “abnormal” people like me who are clinging to our guns and our religion.
They are aimed at people in the middle
A few points:
Most Americans are in favor of reasonable gun control laws. Obama stated on a questionaire in 1996 that he supported a total ban on handguns. (He has of course tried to deny it, despite the fact that his hand written notes were on the first page of the document).
I have no doubt that most Americans are in favor of allowing law abiding Americans to keep hand guns in their own homes, for protection. Concealed and open carry laws are much more controversial of course.
This ad is being run in NM, CO and PA, all states that have large numbers of hunters and gun owners. It should be very effective in those places.
I’m sure their a great number of “Reagan Democrats”, who are hunters, in PA who this ad will appeal to. (You know the bitter folks, who cling to their silly guns and religious faith and actually think those things are more important than 0bama’s ego.)
The ads will also appeal to Libertarians who tend to be Independents.
I grew up a Liberal and a gun control fanatic. But, when you think about it, gun control laws that keep law abiding citizens from owning guns are incredibly illogical.
These laws, basically ensure that the criminals (who being criminals don’t obey laws) will have guns, while the law abiding citizens they prey on, will not.
I don’t own a gun, I don’t know how to use one but I reserve the right and will stand with any law abiding citizen to own one.

In California you are checked out to see if you aren’t a felon, a mental case, a stalker/wife/husband beater, etc. and you have a ten day or so waiting period. If you don’t want to wait, buy an axe.
If you are none of the above, you can buy a weapon. If you are any of the above,
(a) I don’t want you in the community and, failing that,
(b) I don’t want you to have more firepower than I have.
No honest man is denied the right to purchase a weapon here. If the laws in your state are different, tough. If you are not an honest man, stay away.
The NRA has gone overboard in the past. They did an injustice to Al Gore by telling Appalachian voters that Gore did not respect the rights of people to own guns for hunting. Gore is a hunter.
But this year they do not have to mangle the truth. Obama is against them. NQ has a variety of people and I respect every opinion. I shot my first deer when I was 14. I saw, through the scope of my rifle, the agony of that deer when the bullet hit. I never hunted again. But I spent many of Sundays at my friends’ homes having a meal of deer steak that they proudly placed upon the table. A simple 17 cent shotgun shell gave them enough meat to feed their family for the winter. At the store, a cow, that was shot in the head to make it ready for market, would have cost thousands of dollars, package by package.
If any of you worry about the swing states that still have hunters. Do not worry too much. My democrat friends do not like Obama. BTW. Biden talked about his Beretta Shot Gun. Beretta makes fine pistols, Joe. Their shotguns are throwaways. (B.B. owners – please do not bother me with a response.)
Here is how it works. If you talk about taking away gun rights then you are subject to suspicions. People will suspect you will take away other rights, like rights of privacy. Will Obama listen into my call to my cousin. FISA, anyone?
What I am saying is this. I do not think that Obama can overcome the reality of his positions. The glamour days are gone. Now it is time for people to look at who they believe will be THEIR president.
Polls in Washington DC said that the people there overwhelmingly supported gun control but, at the same time, supported their own right to own a gun. This is a very complex issue.
Yes, supporting gun control is not the same as wanting to give up your right to own a gun. I agree completely.

These are good ads. I keep waiting for the Repubs to kick it in to gear on behalf of McCain. I am guessing they will kick it up after the last debate when McCain can’t be attacked by a moderator for picking on Obama.
Did I read here that some wealthy Repub was trying to get the M Obama tape as he didn’t want McCain to win? I was wondering if the tape wasn’t available and McCain was going to have to win the old fashioned way and that’s why they pulled out of Michigan.

John McCain is an honorable man who has run a typical campaign. It hasn’t been any worse than BO’s, and less so by most standards. John McCain will not dishonor himself by mucking up racial tensions like this “whitey tape” that some people carry on about. If anyone is trying to hang their hopes on that tape coming from the Republican Party or John McCain’s campaign, fugedaboutit. It won’t come from them, on McCain’s orders if need be. He is not a racist, and will not be responsible for a campaign where race is exploited. How would he ever explain that to his adoptive daughter, for starters. And having been smeared with racism in two different ways in campaigns, first by Bush’s campaign in 2000 over his adopted daughter, and now with the BO race card, he won’t fight in that gutter.
For those of you who are expecting to see a lot of TV ads exploiting racial themes, however warranted that might seem (to some) in these circumstances, don’t look for it from the Republican Party or McCain, look for it from a 527 group that can’t be tied to them. They’re not idiots.
If there are anti-black racists in this group, I’m not aware of them. But I see a lot of posts calling for an ad campaign against BO’s BLT ties. I think those things should be public knowledge, but no honorable person would want to see more racial tension in this country. And we have many AA members here, some much more worthy than most of the others here. I don’t think any of the core NQ people want to see race exploited in retaliation for the race card we get faced with. We don’t need a race war in this country.
Having said all that, I despise racism from any person of any race about another person of a different race, and I don’t distinguish which is which. I will denounce black racism as much as white racism. But that doesn’t mean we should want a good man like John McCain to win the election based on racial exploitation.

The ad was decent, but it could have been better. Rather than have a retired police officer, they should have one of the many women who have saved themselves from being raped or murdered with their legally owned firearm. She could have ended saying. Following Obama’s ideas, I would have been prosecuted for making a victim out of the man who broke into my home and tried to rape me.

I’m wondering where are the coordinated attacks for which the GOP is famous - That they are missing is a story in itself. They’ll start soon or I’ll assume they are ceding this election to Obama.

I used to view guns negatively, even though I grew up with a police-officer father. We respected the weapon as part of his dangerous job. He wasn’t a hunter. He wasn’t what I would come to view as a “gun-nut”. I couldn’t imagine owning a firearm. Sometimes reality changes your views.
My psychiatrist husband comes home from work one day and makes an announcement. He works on the medical staff of a large county correctional facility. “We are getting a gun”. He got a permit, but no gun yet. He still cannot believe the savagery he deals with at work. Home invasions rarely have happy endings. We won’t be picking off squirrels and birds in our yard. God forbid we would ever have to use the weapon.
