Obama has answered a question yet, he’s giving a campaign spiel. He looks uncomfortable. I hit the remote when he speaks because I’ve heard it before.

Just remember and don’t be dismayed - tomorrow the msm will be full of how Obama won complete with ginned up polls.

Comment by AngryWhitePerson | 2008-10-07 20:12:38

Obama, Tom Brokaw asked who you would want as Treasurer, not to wax poetic or philosophical about whatever shit comes to mind. I like that Brokaw gently chastisted them and told both candidates to please stick to the (narrow) topic at hand.

I noticed that Obama immediately blamed McCain, et. al, as if he hadn’t gotten a gazillion dollars from Freddie and Fannie. McCain just let it go - UNTIL NOW. Nicely done.

Comment by Crystal | 2008-10-07 20:14:03

McCain just called him on it! it makes my heart smile..

Comment by SensibleWomanNOTforBO | 2008-10-07 20:13:32

Hmmm…McCain named several people he would consider appting to economic positions, but I only heard BO name one. Did I miss him name more than one?

Comment by Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy | 2008-10-07 20:16:11

No, he did not. And his mention of Warren Buffet was only a follow-up to MCCAIN mentioning him.

Comment by typewriterstreaming | 2008-10-07 20:14:25

Comment by Deep Truths | 2008-10-07 20:21:38

Obama suffers from Adult Short Attention Span. He jumps on one word and sails downriver into tributary’s, no where near the riverbank where the question was. John on the otherhand REMEMBERS the question and answers. That’s all we ask.

Boom! Mac hits on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Barry wants to hit back, claims he wrote to Paulson and Bernanke when?

Says questioner is not interested in hearing politicians pointing fingers, but that’s exactly what he just did. And yet, Barry but didn’t say anything about what he would do to help the homeowner! biggest gasbag

Comment by socalannie | 2008-10-07 20:17:30

Barky just said we’re not interested in pointing fingers…I sure am! We need to know who’s responsible for trashing the economy so we can vote them out.

Comment by Judy L. NC | 2008-10-07 20:17:41

McCain is on his game tonight. He answered the first question in precisely the way the CNN analysts said he’d need to…. I’m feeling better now.

“In the most obscene chapter in recent American history is the conduct of the Kosovo conflict when the president of the United States refused to prepare for ground operations, refused to have air power used effectively because he wanted them flying — he had them flying at 15,000 feet where they killed innocent civilians because they were dropping bombs from such — in high altitude.”

-Barack Obama

Comment by wodiej | 2008-10-07 20:33:44

I think the problem w McCain is not that he doesn’t have good ideas or plans he is just not what some would call charasmatic. Unfortunately alot of people base someone’s worth on that and nothing more, say like, oh, Barack Obama. Let’s remember that John is making some good points…just got another zinger in about Obama wanting some fancy overhead projecter and how he is going to trim costs.

This is not a rally, this is a town hall style debate and there are kids in the audience. He is not at liberty to be as free w his words in this type of setting.

Comment by Liberty Belle not for Obama | 2008-10-07 20:33:45

OMG This idiot is talking about that civilian force crap!

Comment by Patience | 2008-10-07 20:34:32

I think McCain is doing fine. It won’t matter that he’s more substantive than Obama — the MSM will deem The One the winner anyway.

Obama is such a copycat — so often he repeats the good ideas of his debate partners. And talks as if his record of spending doesn’t exist.

Oh now Obama is talking about doubling the Peace Corps! In response to a question about what would he cut from the budget!!!

Comment by AngryWhitePerson | 2008-10-07 20:34:52

The question is, “what sacrifices would you as president ask Americans to make?” So what is Obama talking about? Not anything in particular. The energy crisis. What Bush said after 9-11. Blah blah blah. Then he brings up his volunteer corps across the nation garbage, so that “military family don’t bear the burden of rebuidling America.” WTF does that mean?

Comment by texaslatina | 2008-10-07 20:34:57

And you think Obama is the acceptable choice for America? You have got to be breathing something very toxic if that’s your choice. If Obama gets in I wish all of you who looked through the looking glass at this dangerous fraud, good luck, because you will need it with what he will bring to this country. I will be able to say I never wanted him or voted for him and will oppose him every chance I get until he is gone. I just hope Americans see through him before Nov.4 so we don’t have to face this nightmare.

I guess when Obama gets his ass kicked, all of the rules that the two campaigns agreed to just get suspeneded so that Obama can make a rhetorical point.

Of course, when you sponsor and support an organization like Accorn that engages in naked vote fraud, what’s not answering Brokaw’s question in comparison.

Comment by Rico | 2008-10-07 20:45:58

McCain’s performance is much improved compared to his last one. He’s laughing at Obama’s jokes, making eye contact, and doesn’t seem angry. I just wish he could have managed that in the last debate.

I love the “I’ll actually answer the question” quip. If only his running mate would answer them, we might be closer in the polls.

Comment by Prem | 2008-10-07 21:00:52

BHO has always supported nuclear energy—he’s gotten lots of campaign contributions from Excelon—Illinois has more nuclear power plants than any other state. I don’t like it and France is having trouble with the “reprocessing” of nuclear waste now. BHO watered down legislation when he was an IL senator about notification when there has been a nuclear waste leak—because of the contributions from Excelon. I think Axelrod is associated with them.

Obama repeats HRC’s ideas, but can’t flesh them out—but this is the case with his own ideas too! Why? Because he really doesn’t believe in what he says since he has no core values. His only goal is self-interest (i.e. power) and winning the presidency. He’ll let his advisers and cronies figure out those policies and deal with those pesky details.

Aren’t we tired of this type of “leader”, folks?

We need to get back to what things actually cost. Is that physical really $150 or just $75? If we have a heavily subsidized system, why would you care.
Costs would go up drastically and hospitals will continue to bleed money.

In MD $1200 deductible at 271/mon for family of four. Ages range 33-15. It’s possible even with this crappy healthcare system. Total $4452

I’m trying not to be too cynical, but I’m wondering if Brokaw reworked all the questions he chose to make sure there wasn’t any chance for opening up new problems for the One. me too

McCain just lost it with his Iraq lack of defense.

I didn’t think he’d be able to crawl away from that sadly.

I am over it. I still hate Iraq but I don’t blame Mack for it solely. He just shouldn’t defend it.

Obama has just won this (dammit)

I can’t see it going the other way after this.

dammit,dammit!

He’s just too much a hawk for most moderates and ALL liberals to handle.

dammit

Comment by ohio | 2008-10-07 21:17:55

Dawnelle, How do you see it as a game changer about Iraq. Didn’t Hillary also vote for Iraq and are we not winning over there now because of the surge. I know my son was in the surge and he sure sees it that way. Obama is and was wrong on Iraq.

Talking about Pakistan - Barky is just plain outta his league.

McCain talks from experience and knowledge and wisdom.

Barky talks from a book and a set of talking points his advisers quizzed him on.

Comment by Retired | 2008-10-07 21:16:58

“Hey, piss on the rules that I agreed to when McCain shows me up,” says Obama. I need a “quick follow on.” OK, Obama, let’s see what happens when McCain gets to follow up and gets the last word on your “quick follow on.”

Comment by Liberty Belle not for Obama | 2008-10-07 21:17:07

I believe the point Mac is making about Obama announcing you’re going to invade Pakistan, (”Remarkable” - good way to characterize), is one of the best yet in the debate. Definitely more credible.

Obama wants a follow-up, contrary to their rules. He’s distressed. Mac’s rebut is good.

Bottom line: don’t telegraph what your’re going to do, and alienate the people in the host country.

By the way, T.R.’s line, “Talk softly, but carry a big stick”, was originally a corollary of The Monroe Doctrine against foreign (European) involvement in the Americas.

‘McCaskill’s edge’

“I mentioned a few days ago that Claire McCaskill’s mild affect masks a bit of a killer, and perhaps the Obama campaign’s deftest surrogate on the attack.

But I was still kind of amused by her brief interaction with Mitt Romney in the press file just now.

McCaskill was stepping out of her chair at the end of an MSNBC interview, and Romney was up next. She and a staffer unplugged her various wires, and she handed Romney the earpiece the guests use to hear the host.

“I spit on this before I put it in,” she said to Romney, with a sweet smile.

I welcome feedback should someone disagree with me n my viewpoints. I guess being Canadian I don’t understand why the U.S. would potentially elect another “Bush” as president. Is it just me or is it much easier to listen to the wisdom of Obama as opposed to the old-folk rambling of Yoda?? I found it extremely tough to listen to this to french fry in that he never really answered questions, he merely resorted to a slick-willy, used car sales dance around the issues tactics. At least Obama gave concrete answers of what he would do. And what was with the “friends” babble that dinosaur would spout every 2 seconds he spoke? There’s a saying that is more profound than McCain could ever be and it says “someone who is friends to everyone is friends to no one”. All that that fossil wants to do is continue Hitler a.k.a. George Bush’s plan for world domination. I pray that the U.S. makes the right choice and elects Obama for President so that change for the better may come about. Should they lose sight an elect Mc Cain, it will surely spell misfortune and turmoil. Mc Cain will turn the U.S. into a locust race whereby their military will continue to continuously go in and demolish countries that go against them or “create” propoganda to get the U.S. people behind them in order to validate them going into a country to hoover their resources then leave once there is no more interest or value left in it for them.

The bottom line is going to come down to how many people will trust one candidate over the other to compromise our inherent free market system in order to attempt to save it. How far are we willing to gamble with the very essence of who we are as an economic nation to save the few or the numerous in order to promote/guarantee the survival of the most…which is the nation as a whole.

It will come down to TRUST when all of us vote on Nov 4

Comment by Mandelay | 2008-10-07 21:49:33

No signs of Bill Ayers or Jeremiah Wright. No signs of a real town hall meeting either. This was the last attempt of the mainstream media to hit Mac in the kneecaps. Why did they need to pre-select the questions? Why not have people raise their hands and ask what they wished? Where was the excitement and the interaction? Where the hell was the fire in the belly? Mac dropped a bombshell with his “buy up the bad mortgages” plan to turn each bad loan into a workout. His delivery of it … and Obama’s reaction to it … made them both look mildly sedated. Brokaw looked like he had taken a sedative as well. Advantage, once again, to the empty suit Obama who only needs to show up. If I hear the phrase “We’re facing tough times ….” one more time, I’m gong to start throwing my popcorn.

Comment by McAnnie Carmel Baracuda | 2008-10-07 22:19:05

Mandelay, I believe they will continue to take him apart on the campaign trail. Sarah will not have an appearance without it. Tomorrow she’s on Greta and sometime this week they will both be on with Hannity.

Believe me, Hannity can think of nothing else. You know they will hit every association plus the new socialist connection.

Comment by IndianaDem | 2008-10-07 22:24:12

The healthcare issue can be solved, but the Insurance companies are the ones that need to change. When you have “clerical” personnel making the decisions the pateints suffer. Employers are choosing plans based on what the Insurance companies offer. And addiltional riders. The money is unreal copays, deductables, all controlled by one entity.

What is needed is someone to tell them, nope you have to change and reform. Make it less about profit and more about the patient.

I dont have Insurance, but I do deal with Insurance companies in my job. It needs to change. Reform it.

You guys notice that all the callers on Cspan who support Obama are black.

It’s weird how Obama is winning all these polls but everytime Cspan has the caller session all Obama supporters are black.

I think all these polls are bullshit

I noticed on another site (Hillary44?) last night that someone had deciphered a CBS poll…very heavily slanted once the internal numbers were observed. They were asking a higher percentage of Dems than Republicans so naturally Barry was ahead. I think that’s happening on all of them.

Sarah’s been out there pounding away with big, big crowds. Don’t tell me these are not changing the numbers.

I want her to attack about Khalid al Monsouri (sp?) and the conversation he has on video talking about the Saudi getting Barry into Harvard.

I don’t like the idea of having people who are ‘undecided’ at town hall debates. Why not have one-third each and have real, substantive questions.

Besides, how can you be undecided at this point of the race? Four months and you still haven’t decided is weird. Perhaps they shouldn’t vote for a presidential candidate - skip that box.

Yeah, they lied. They weren’t undecided at all. The Yuppie segment didn’t even need to open their little mouths. I knew what they were going to say.

After the first debate a woman said McCain stammered and didn’t give straight answers…he asked McCain did? she said yes….it was Obama who did the stammering. These people are lying to get in on these to throw them. Everyone knows Obama him haws around and does not answer the question.

Thanks to those of you who answered my cry for help and encouragement. I love McCain. Sorry, I do. And I love Palin. What a crime if those two don’t get a chance to take the White House. Can you imagine the difference in Obama’s America and theirs? It’s not even a question. I pray that God shines his loving light on this country and intervenes because clearly there are some really stupid people in this country who don’t deserve to live here.

Yes , USA is a chant at Palin and McCain rally’s and Obama people go there and chant NO U S A! They need to leave our country if they don’t like it.

What they’re really chanting is M-E-C-C-A.

Still on Fox. Thompson is so much better defending McCain than campaigning for himself…so is Romney. I want to hear Guiliani.

My God, I’m turning into a Republican. Today I was feeling sorry for President Bush and loving Rove. Thus the strange effect of Barack Obama.
