Obama is Hiding a Radical Past!

(bumped by SusanUnPC at 11:11 p.m. ET)

Edited and updated at 8:50 p.m. ET.

Did you know that Barack Obama was affiliated with a leading national socialist party? Barack Obama didn’t include in his 2008 resume that he entered politics in the mid-1990s endorsed by Chicago’s leading socialists. This just keeps getting better and better. Barack Obama was an active participant in the 1990s, and a direct political beneficiary, of the Chicago New Party and, importantly, the Chicago DSA, a group of socialists affiliated with the Democratic Socialists of America.

  1. Barack Obama attended and participated in meetings of the Chicago New Party and the Chicago DSA, the local affiliate of the Democratic Socialists of America.
  2. Barack Obama sought the endorsement of the Chicago DSA which required rigorous scrutiny by the party’s Political Committee as well as Mr. Obama’s signature on a contract promising “a visible and active relationship with the NP.”
  3. Barack Obama actively used the endorsement from the Chicago DSA.
  4. Barack Obama won his DSA-endorsed and -backed campaign to secure his seat in the Illinois State Senate.
  5. Barack Obama continued his involvement with the Chicago DSA — including directly asking the group to join “his task forces on Voter Education and Voter Registration” — and received their endorsements in subsequent campaigns.

Obama’s participation in and endorsement from the Chicago New Party and Chicago DSA, the local affiliate of the Democratic Socialists of America (which is the U.S. affiliate of the Socialist International) is quite clear:

  1. According to the write-up on the July 1995 meeting of Chicago DSA and New Party membership, Barack Obama was one of about 50 people attending out of their then-300 member local group. Other documents below will demonstrate Barack Obama attended and participated in subsequent meetings.
  2. The New Party rigorously evaluated its candidate endorsements and claimed “a winning ratio of 77 of 110 elections.” This was no passive endorsement.
  3. Candidates must be approved via a NP political committee. Once approved, candidates must sign a contract with the NP. The contract mandates that they must have a visible and active relationship with the NP.—New Ground

  4. Candidate Barack Obama participated as a panelist at the DSA-sponsored Town Meeting on February 25, 1996, entitled “Employment and Survival in Urban America”. As reported in New Ground,

Barack Obama observed that Martin Luther King’s March on Washington in the 1960s wasn’t simply about civil rights but demanded jobs as well. Now the issue is again coming to the front, but he wished the issue was on the Democratic agenda not just on Buchanan’s.

One of the themes that has emerged in Barack Obama’s campaign is “what does it take to create productive communities”, not just consumptive communities. It is an issue that joins some of the best instincts of the conservatives with the better instincts of the left. He felt the state government has three constructive roles to play.

The first is “human capital development”. By this he meant public education, welfare reform, and a “workforce preparation strategy”. Public education requires equality in funding. It’s not that money is the only solution to public education’s problems but it’s a start toward a solution. The current proposals for welfare reform are intended to eliminate welfare but it’s also true that the status quo is not tenable. A true welfare system would provide for medical care, child care and job training. While Barack Obama did not use this term, it sounded very much like the “social wage” approach used by many social democratic labor parties. By “workforce preparation strategy”, Barack Obama simply meant a coordinated, purposeful program of job training instead of the ad hoc, fragmented approach used by the State of Illinois today.

The state government can also play a role in redistribution, the allocation of wages and jobs. As Barack Obama noted, when someone gets paid $10 million to eliminate 4,000 jobs, the voters in his district know this is an issue of power not economics. The government can use as tools labor law reform, public works and contracts.

  5. Obama subsequently secured his endorsement from the Chicago DSA
The local Democratic Socialists of America affiliate issued their Chicago DSA Endorsements in the March 19th Primary Election:
  6. Barack Obama is running to gain the Democratic ballot line for Illinois Senate 13th District. The 13th District is Alice Palmer’s old district, encompassing parts of Hyde Park and South Shore.

Mr. Obama graduated from Columbia University and promptly went into community organizing for the Developing Communities Project in Roseland and Altgeld Gardens on the far south side of Chicago. He went on to Harvard University, where he was editor of the Harvard Law Review. He graduated with a law degree. In 1992, he was Director of Illinois Project Vote, a voter registration campaign that made Carol Moseley Braun’s election to the U.S. Senate much easier than it would have been. At present, he practices law in Judson Miner’s law firm and is President of the board of the Annenberg Challenge Grant which is distributing some $50 million in grants to public school reform efforts.

What best characterizes Barack Obama is a quote from an article in Illinois Issues, a retrospective look at his experience as a community organizer while he was completing his degree at Harvard:

“… community organizations and organizers are hampered by their own dogmas about the style and substance of organizing. Most practice … a ‘consumer advocacy’ approach, with a focus on wrestling services and resources from outside powers that be. Few are thinking of harnessing the internal productive capacities, both in terms of money and people, that already exist in communities.” (Illinois issues, September, 1988)

Luckily, Mr. Obama does not have any opposition in the primary. His opponents have all dropped out or were ruled off the ballot.

  7. Barack Obama Continued Attending Membership Meetings of the Chicago DSA New Party
Obama attended membership meeting on April 11, 1996 where he expressed his gratitude for their support. The report shared that “Barack Obama, victor in the 13th State Senate District, encouraged NPers to join in his task forces on Voter Education and Voter Registration.”
  8. Obama won his election with the help of the Chicago DSA’s New Party.
  9. Chicago DSA notes in 1998 that Barack Obama eulogized Saul Mendelson, co-founder of the Debs Dinner.
  10. In the fall of 1998, Chicago DSA’s New Ground’s editor offered nomination of Barack Obama for reelection.
  11. When Barack Obama challenged Bobby Rush for the 1st Congressional District in 2000, the Chicago DSA opted to recommend both:

For Congressman of the 1st Congressional District, the Executive Committee was faced with two very good candidates. As we are not making endorsements but merely recommendations, we felt no conflict in recommending both Bobby Rush and Barack Obama.

Bobby Rush was the incumbent Congressman. He was also a candidate for Mayor of Chicago in the last municipal elections, endorsed by Chicago DSA. While he hasn’t always been the ideal Congressman from a left perspective (being a cosponsor of the “NAFTA for Africa” bill, for example), he’s generally been quite good. To volunteer, call 773 264 7874. Contributions may be made to Citizens for Rush, 514 E. 95th St., Chicago, IL 60619.

Barak Obama is serving only his second term in the Illinois State Senate so he might be fairly charged with ambition, but the same might have be said of Bobby Rush when he ran against Congressman Charles Hayes. Obama also has put in time at the grass roots, working for five years as a community organizer in Harlem and in Chicago. When Obama participated in a 1996 UofC YDS Townhall Meeting on Economic Insecurity, much of what he had to say was well within the mainstream of European social democracy.

Conclusion
Barack Obama has a long-term and sustained relationship with the Chicago DSA, an affiliate of the Democratic Socialists of America, and with the Chicago New Party. He participated in multiple membership meetings and in DSA-sponsored events, repeatedly sought their endorsement. This does not answer all questions about Barack Obama’s past relationships with multiple socialist groups. What the media need to find out is this: Has Barack Obama broken his ties with them> If so, when and why?

“Obama is hiding a radical past”

Gee, ya think?

Too bad we can’t count on our news media … you know, the same people who constant;y trumpet “the public’s right to know” and who tell us that they’re so essential to the functioning of a democracy …. to report these facts to us or to seriously vet all of the candidates for president.

Comment by Touchet | 2008-10-07 18:14:32

When they say they are “essential to functioning of a democracy” they mean that they are the ones running it. Its apparent that the press hold too much power in this country. Its time the united states congress acted on that.

Like all Liberal Democrats and other socialist Americans, I have been so impressed by the celebrity, charisma and good looks of Barack. He really has a nice personally and will make a fun president. I don’t understand why the evil Republicans keep harping on
Baracks lack of experience, dubious background, character and his tax/spend voting record in congress. This stuff is not important, who cares.

No…no…no. Government intervention is the last thing we need. Have you forgotten about the Fairness Doctrine that the Dems have threatened to implement. If people are to damn lazy to bring the biased media to their knees then their stuck with it. Lets say over half of viewers in the U.S. disagree with the Main Stream Media then boycott them and any advertisers that support them. It sure worked with Congress with the Drill Here Drill now petition. If Gingrich can get a million and half signatures (I believe thats right could have been more) then we can to. So its either petitions or boycott but never, never trust the Government to do the job that individual citizens should be doing. You can see what a big help they’ve been with the economy.

If the MSM and voters in the polls appear to have not interest or concern about Obama’s associations with Ayres, Wright, Dohr—do you really think they are going to care about a socialist connection. I am beginning to think that people just want to elect Obama and they really don’t care what he advocates or stands for or was, they just want to jump on the bandwagon stage with him.

Comment by John Smith | 2008-10-07 20:05:02

I don’t think that is true. The guy is a joke. People are looking for a reason not to vote for him.

Comment by Ann Arbor for Palin | 2008-10-08 06:30:40

Jangles,

I agree with you. MSM even does not care whether Obama is eligible to be the president under the US Constitution. Have you heard any MSM discuss Attorney Phillip Berg’ law suit against Obama? This is constitutional issue. They do not care!!

Comment by Ann Arbor for Palin | 2008-10-08 06:26:24

Obama is hiding the fact the he is not eligible to be the president or vice president under the US constitution because he is not a natural born citizen or he has lost his citizenship and never regained. Why the debate did not discuss this?

This is a CONSTITUTIONAL issue, more important than anything else in the election. If Obamba is not eligible, none of the debate with him is necessary.

Thanks for the links Athy.

Here is a quote from Alinsky which best describes the TRUE Obama politician,

“to F-k your enemies, you’ve first got to seduce your allies.”

It’s only about Power - not helping people. Obama is the narcissistic socialist looking to “game” the system simply to attain power.

Obama would throw his own grandmother under a bus if it means “winning” (He already did).

Comment by C. Benson | 2008-10-08 15:01:49

Not just his Grandmother any baby that survives an abortion and is still alive should just be put in the other room to die, this is what he advocated and wouldn’t vote for allowing care for the baby. This is one cold-hearted Bas#%$d. Some people think he cares about the middle class, only until they vote for him then its over.

Americans, like some in my own extended family I’m ashamed to say, will vote for him because they do NO homework, they still believe the MSM is legit & giving them an overview of what they need to know; they believe what they’re told. The only reason they would stop to question the MSM is if they did some research on their own and most of LAZY America WON’T.

When I bring up BO issues in my extended family, members think I’m crazy and say, “Well, if that were TRUE, then why aren’t we seeing it on the news?”

Comment by Ai1een | 2008-10-08 00:31:34

Why isn’t it JOHN MCCAIN’s responsibility to bring this out? I’m sick to death of the polished say nothing political ads that people ignore. WHY WASTE GOOD MONEY ON THAT? Why not simply do some powerful low budget ads where McCain or a representative stands there and says - “We’re X number of days away from the election and this is what you haven’t been told about Barack Obama. Just stand their simply and start explaining things. Reveal things according to topic area”. Get your people to start coming out with it EVERYWHERE so the press CAN’T ignore it.

If McCain wants the Presidency and if he TRULY LOVES AMERICA, then he, as a leader should have the balls and guts to bring ALL of this rot out on Obama - if he lacks the INTEGRITY to do so - then he deserves to lose - only it will be America who suffers.

Comment by R Lamb | 2008-10-08 21:04:25

I agree that someone — if not the McCain campaign, then some unassociated group (don’t remember the correct name for those groups right now) — but someone needs to make a series of stark black and white ads with a person calmly exposing all this stuff about Obama.

One ad could be about the Berg v. Obama federal lawsuit, complete with copies of all the filings and exhibits — all the evidence — and an explanation of the suit.

Several other ads need to address Obama’s radical background, again, complete with visuals and evidence to back up what is being claimed.

I’m convinced that there is NO way the MSM will ever report any of this. Paid advertising is all that remains.

The public’s right-to-know is just a dream. To the extent that it ever existed, it has all but been extinguished. (How many on this board have forwarded items to members of the MSM? And what happened after you did so? I guess we should be sending it to the National Enquirer; that did the trick for Edwards.)

The irony of it will be that Obama, while he is for “gun control” (except when he isn’t) , there will be automatic weapons on the street for that event.

Chicago’s finest gotta love that. Not so sure about the rest of the 313.

Please email this to the McCain campaign. Thank you for this important information. Obama the scumbag.

Comment by joseyJ | 2008-10-07 18:47:35

Any attempt by McCain/Palin and Repubs to highlight Obama’s corrupt and anti-America “associations” - is merely cast by Obama and Obamedia as McCain trying to bring down the Obama campaign.
The narrative related to any of Obama’s LIES and RECORD is - there’s nothing there - it’s just McCain’s way of avoiding the issues.

Typical of Germany, circa 1938.

Did Ayers defend recreate68? Or defend Churchhills plagerizing ways?

So much for BO’s 2002 “speech”.

You mean are Ayers and his wife still Communists?

Comment by Matthew Weaver | 2008-10-07 23:08:47

I did not see Ayers, Dohrn, or Klonsky’s names mentioned in any of the material I reviewed. Almost need a list of the usual suspects to compare against when going through the materials.

If you look at the links, they share a considerably different summary of Obama’s past than the he or the campaign offer. And OT, II did find more connections where Michelle Obama was more active in a number of things, plus some more shared–Barack, Michelle, and Bernadine Dohrn activities.

Sorry if this is too long, but I thought it might help to remind us all what the Communist Goals were back in 1963. It seems they have made a lot of progress since then.

Communist Goals (1963)
Documention below

——————————————————————————–

Congressional Record–Appendix, pp. A34-A35
January 10, 1963

Current Communist Goals

EXTENSION OF REMARKS OF HON. A. S. HERLONG, JR. OF FLORIDA

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Thursday, January 10, 1963

Mr. HERLONG. Mr. Speaker, Mrs. Patricia Nordman of De Land, Fla., is an ardent and articulate opponent of communism, and until recently published the De Land Courier, which she dedicated to the purpose of alerting the public to the dangers of communism in America.

At Mrs. Nordman’s request, I include in the RECORD, under unanimous consent, the following “Current Communist Goals,” which she identifies as an excerpt from “The Naked Communist,” by Cleon Skousen:

[From "The Naked Communist," by Cleon Skousen]

CURRENT COMMUNIST GOALS

1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.

2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.

3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.

4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.

5. Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites.

6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.

7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N.

8. Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev’s promise in 1955 to settle the German question by free elections under supervision of the U.N.

9. Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.

10. Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N.

11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces. (Some Communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the U.N. as by Moscow. Sometimes these two centers compete with each other as they are now doing in the Congo.)

12. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.

13. Do away with all loyalty oaths.

14. Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office.

15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.

16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

18. Gain control of all student newspapers.

19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.

20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.

21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.

22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to “eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.”

23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. “Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art.”

24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press.

25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”

27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with “social” religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a “religious crutch.”

28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state.”

29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the “common man.”

31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the “big picture.” Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.

32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture–education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.

34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.

35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI.

36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.

37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business.

38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand [or treat].

39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use ["]united force["] to solve economic, political or social problems.

43. Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.

44. Internationalize the Panama Canal.

45. Repeal the Connally reservation so the United States cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction [over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction] over nations and individuals alike.

Red State wrote about this months ago. I know because I did a search for “New Party” back during the primary to find out what it was and I came across their piece. I had never been to their site before and since then it has changed a bit. I tried to find the piece a month or so back and the search wouldn’t work for me.

I’ve actually seen several mentions after-the-fact on this. In looking through Google’s 2001 index I came across this and simply chased it down with contemperaneous information. Since this published and I’ve received pointers to several blog posts, I’ve looked at a couple and found some similar conclusions. Big question is what does it take to get the MSM to even notice?

Where is the contract Larry alluded to, that BO signed to get their endorsement? I don’t see it in the referenced document.

Comment by Matthew Weaver | 2008-10-07 23:24:43

I couldn’t find the referenced document–wonder if asking DSA or Obama would cough it up? Doubtful.

Anyway, the evidence I found, read, and linked to says he had a sustained relationship with the organization wherein he attended multiple membership meetings, participated in their events, sought, accepted, and thanked them for their endorsement. The endorsement, as stated by the group was predicated on :

Candidates must be approved via a NP political committee. Once approved, candidates must sign a contract with the NP. The contract mandates that they must have a visible and active relationship with the NP.

As Obama received the endorsements and continued coming back I believe it is safe to conclude that he signed or agreed to the contract and his subsequent actions suggest he sustained a “visible and active relationship” thereafter.

About Joyce Foundation funding of school reform—mentions the lady who ‘chose’ Obama for board with Ayers

http://web.archive.org/web/20011126174837/www.capitalresearch.org/fw/fw-0796.html

THE EDUCATION MONEY FLOW:
JOYCE’S TIDAL SHIFTS

Rethinking Schools’ anti-school choice tracts have been published with financial support from the New World Foundation of New York City and the Joyce Foundation of Chicago. In describing their motivation, James Miller, president of the Wisconsin Policy Research Institute, says that “Rethinking Schools is the new socialism. It has just been repackaged. They are very, very left of center, and to a large degree they are just apologists for the status quo in education.” With assets of some $21 million, the New World Foundation has never shrunk from the notoriety which its support for far-left causes has provoked. When the New World Foundation was chaired by Hillary Clinton (before she became First Lady) it funded such groups as the pro-Sandinista Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador (CISPES) Education Fund, the conspiracy-minded Christic Insitute, SANE/FREEZE, and the National Lawyers Guild. So its support for Rethinking Schools is not surprising. Rethinking Schools’ other patron is, however, far richer and, appropriately has been far more circumspect. Chicago’s Joyce Foundation was founded in 1948 by Beatrice Joyce Kean, whose family-owned timber business yielded profits which were invested and managed with the guidance of the family’s law firm, Lord, Bissell and Brook. When she died in 1972, ninety percent of her fortune went to the Joyce Foundation. Today, the Joyce Foundation is among the top fifty private grantmaking foundations in the United States, with assets listed at $587,899,563 as of December 31, 1995. Last year the foundation awarded some $21 million in grants in eight program areas. Joyce’s education division awarded the largest sum _ $7,157,740 _ to forty-three grantees. It may be presumed that Rethinking Schools grant application was reviewed by one or more of the division’s program officers. Warren Chapman was formerly an official of the Illinois State Board of Education and the Illinois Department of Corrections. He holds a doctorate in education. Ellen Alberding, an MBA who doubles as an investment officer for the foundation, was a scheduler on Senator Adlai Stevenson III’s Democratic gubernatorial campaign and worked in development for the Express-Ways Children’s Museum. Her husband was counsel to Mayor Richard Daley. Peter Mich, who also holds a doctorate in education, previously worked for the Boys and Girls Clubs where he specialized in computer technology. Last year, the Joyce Foundation gave $100,000 to Marquette University’s Institute for the Transformation of Learning to support a book project to be developed jointly by Rethinking Schools editor Robert Lowe and choice supporter Howard Fuller. Fuller told Foundation Watch that the Joyce grant was specifically “not for support of school choice.” Fuller, who has also received support from Milwaukee’s pro-school choice Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation for other projects supportive of vouchers, says Joyce wanted him to conduct a project in cooperation with Lowe “looking at the social relationship of teachers to kids.” Fuller said he worked with Rethinking Schools because they do “professional development for teachers, work for more teachers in the school system, and look at developing a rigorous curriculum. I’m not going to say I’m not going to work with you on these things because you oppose school choice.” Meanwhile, Joyce’s education division awarded Rethinking Schools more than three times as much money to fight Fuller on the school choice issue. In 1995, the decade-old organization _ whose principal activity is publication and distribution of a quarterly tabloid newspaper and associated propaganda pamphlets _ received a grant of $348,380 “to publish and disseminate two booklets on school vouchers, school choice, and the issue of school equity; and to publish a series of articles about school-to-work, educational standards, assessment, and school accountability (3 years).” The Joyce Foundation-subsidized articles were published in the organization’s Rethinking Schools tabloid. Like the anti-voucher booklet, they were full of venom. The Spring, 1996 issue, looking more like a 1960’s-era copy of The Daily Worker or The Militant than an educational publication, featured articles with sloganeering headlines — “Stop the ‘English-Only’ Nonsense” and “‘Stand for Children’ June 1 in Washington” — alongside advertisements for pamphlets with titles like “Rethinking Columbus,” which promised to “critique traditional versions of the conquest and its legacy.” Particularly noteworthy is Rethinking Schools “Special Report” by editor Barbara Miner entitled “Splits On The Right.” A credit line reads: “This package on the right wing was made possible through a grant from the Joyce Foundation.” Accompanied by unflattering pictures of Pat Robertson, Ralph Reed, Lamar Alexander, William Bennett, and Phyllis Schlafly, among others, the report described the political forces that it sees arrayed against Rethinking Schools in the fight over school choice. Miner reports that Robertson has been charged with advocating “an authoritarian theocracy” and adds parenthetically, “The paramilitary right is generally considered a distinct phenomenon, although it maintains strong links to some groups within the religious right.” She suggests that other conservatives _ significantly nameless, because to name anyone at all would reveal how baseless her charges are _ demonstrate a “willingness to espouse blatantly white supremacist and anti-Semitic views.” Repeatedly, Miner makes assertions of the “bigotry, white supremacy, homophobia, and theocratic authoritarianism of the religious right.” Miner’s feature asserts that the Christian right wants “education based on rote obedience and memorization, and prefers to provide children ready-made answers instead of encouraging them to think for themselves.” The issue carries a number of sidebars. One, headlined “Bradley helps bankroll movement,” attacks parental rights groups. It blames “Republican guru” William Kristol and Bradley Foundation president Michael Joyce for “building a movement for parents’ rights as a way to counter the women’s and gay movements and to rally people against the ‘nanny state.’” Also included is a three-page spread in tiny type listing “Economic Conservatives and Religous/Far Right Organizations” (including Capital Research Center, publisher of Foundation Watch), “Progressive Groups Monitoring the Right Wing,” and “Conservative Publications,” a list which includes The New Republic. Other indicators of the publication’s skewed view of reality include a “Multicultural Resources” listing which features such items as “Mother Jones, One Woman’s Fight for Labor,” “Sexual Harrassment Institute,” “Teasing and Bullying Workshops,” “Viva La Causa!” and “Overcoming Homophobia in the Elementary Classroom.” A crude cartoon called “Something For Nothing” shows a member of Congress calling for repeal of the Emancipation Proclamation and asking, “Without slavery, how can we compete with China?” Howard Fuller is charitable when asked about the Joyce Foundation’s support for Rethinking Schools. He says, “Sometimes both sides get out there. I like [Joyce Foundation president] Debby Leff. I have great respect for [education program officer] Warren Chapman and what he’s trying to do to make change for kids.” The opinion of the Wisconsin Policy Research Institute’s Miller is more candid: “Rethinking Schools is way out there on the fringes,” Miller told Foundation Watch, “and I’m sure that the Joyce Foundation people are aware of that.” But when asked about the publications she funded with Joyce Foundation money, Foundation president Deborah Leff pleads ignorance. “I don’t know everything that group did,” she told Foundation Watch when asked about the special section smearing conservatives. “We did not fund Rethinking Schools to publish photos of Ralph Reed and Phyllis Schlafly. We funded them on the choice issue.” Yet managing editor Barbara Miner told Foundation Watch that Joyce was probably aware of her group’s activities, and suggested calling the Joyce Foundation to inquire. Her organization distributes 40,000 free copies of Rethinking Schools quarterly in the Milwaukee area and that “pretty much our only function is one of publishing.” She added that “Joyce has never dictated to us what to say. But as with any grant proposal, we mentioned that there were several articles about several big issues in the education reform movement which were currently of concern.” When asked, if Joyce did not know or approve of it, why Rethinking Schools gave the Joyce Foundation printed credit for its support of the feature articles bad-mouthing conservatives and the Bradley Foundation, Leff responded, “I apologize for not being familiar with the publication. Grantees are going to put forward different perspectives, and just because a grantee takes on a position, there is no one position that’s right. That’s wrong. God help us if we have such a narrow debate so that there’s only one way to go. We identify smart people, differing people.” Some find Leff’s explanations difficult to swallow. “That’s a crock,” says Miller. “Did she know that Rethinking Schools were the major people who drove out [former Milwaukee superintendent of schools] Howard Fuller? They are connected to a bunch of people who call themselves the New Party and Progressive Milwaukee, and all basically have the same address. There was a major election in Milwaukee right before Fuller resigned. The teachers union was heavily involved and the reformers lost. Rethinking Schools was very much involved in that kind of stuff. They are totally opposed to school choice.” Miller’s own think-tank, the Wisconsin Policy Research Institute, received Joyce funding for work on the school choice issue before Leff became president in 1992. But Miller subsequently spoke with Joyce staff members who told him, off the record, that “no one like us would get funded with them again, not while Debbie Leff was there.” Leff, says Miller, is rather unlike her predecessor, Craig Kennedy. “Kennedy was different, in that he was interested in new ideas. It didn’t matter who you were, it was what you were interested in doing,” he explained. “I think she’s interested in new ideas if they’re politically correct. But if you’re not politically correct, you’re not going to get funded. Everybody who seems to get money from them in Milwaukee is way left-of-center, and the dividing issue in getting money in Milwaukee is: Are your opposed to private school choice?” Dr. Chester Finn, director of the Educational Excellence Network and a former Department of Education assistant secretary for educational research, agrees with Miller. “I have had no direct knowledge of the Joyce Foundation since she took over,” he told Foundation Watch. “I knew it quite well under Kennedy. It was one of the most interesting and open-minded foundations. It gave me some support to study school reform in Chicago. It was characterized by inquisitiveness, receptivity to standards and heterodox thought. I would never have thought of it as a fellow-traveller of the education establishment when Craig was running it. I even talked to the board sometimes.” Finn says the atmosphere changed when Kennedy left the foundation to work for Chicago businessman Richard J. Dennis. “Craig left and this woman from the world of television arrived. I never met her. A lot of people I know just rolled their eyes. It was no longer an interesting, unconventional, or open-minded place under her leadership. A kind of window closed, a shade came down. There was no further communication. All gone.” Leff retorts sharply to complaints from past recipients like Miller and Finn, “If you haven’t applied for funds, you can’t get them.” Paula Wolff, a Joyce board member since 1989 and currently president of Governors State University in University Park, Illinois, adds that shifts in foundation priorities are normal over time, and that no one should expect the same grantees to be funded when new administrations take over foundations. “There certainly have been some new initiatives, rewriting of the guidelines, but foundations are changing all the time,” she told Foundation Watch.

Here are a few of the loony things the DSA believes in. Go to their website — they clearly revere Marx (though they have amended his ideas).

http://www.dsausa.org/pdf/TheoryPractice.pdf

—a fundamental restructuring of our socio-economic order. While the freedoms that exist under democratic capitalism are gains of popular struggle to be cherished, democratic socialists argue that
the values of liberal democracy can only be fulfilled when the economy as well as the government is democratically controlled.

–The democratic socialist vision does not rest upon one sole tradition; it draws upon Marxism, religious and ethical socialism, feminism, and other theories that critique human domination.

–Socialists therefore argue that private corporate property is not only wrong, but also nonsensical. Wealth is a social creation and should be controlled by society as a whole. Of course, socialists must take seriously objections that there would be a need for expertise (say, for surgeons and engineers) and job specialization under socialism. The division of labor might
well be eroded by the rotation of menial tasks, frequent sabbaticals, job retraining, shortening the workweek, and increasing the creativity of “leisure” activity. But however we organize the division of labor—the structure of careers and life
opportunities—it should be decided democratically and not by the accident of chance or of opportunities conferred or denied by one’s class position.

Democratic control of consumption should be as central to the socialist vision as democratic control over production,

Large, concentrated industries such as energy and steel would be publicly owned and managed by worker and consumer representatives. Many consumer-goods industries would be run as cooperatives. Workers would design the division of labor within their workplaces and thus overcome the authoritarianism of
the traditional capitalist firm.

There’s a lot more . . .

That is a pretty damning quote that appears attributed to Obama.

That’s what Obama does, he harnesses the taxes to build up organizations like ACORN and expand his power. Always getting a bigger piece of the pie, but not worrying that rather than empowering the disenfranchised, it’s making a franchise of disenfranchisement (?). Like all the billions spent on low income housing, yet we still have people who need low income housing but now we have to bail out Freddie, too. Hundreds of billions spent on HUD, with no reduction of the need, but lots of people making money off of urban redevelopment. It’s a terrible solution, worse than doing nothing.

Comment by lark | 2008-10-07 19:25:51

Few are thinking of harnessing the internal productive capacities, both in terms of money and people, that already exist in communities.” (Illinois issues, September, 1988)

1. Probably a quote pulled out of his dissertation.

2. But amazingly appropriate to what his presidential campaign has been all about. It is remarkably how this knowledge of communities and organizing has come quite an advantage in running a presidential campaign in this age of the internet. In a way one needs to give him credit for that.

NO I’m not getting soft on OBblabla.

Can someone here explain to me why socialism is so damning? Communism is one thing, but socialism is what a lot of European countries have. So I would need more explanation here as to why these particular organizations were so radical and what their specific agenda was before it made an impact on me.

Comment by Johnny Moe | 2008-10-07 18:59:10

Socialism is the gateway drug to Communism. It is the massive redistribution of wealth and confiscation of corporate profits. It is the death of free market and entrepenuership which is the hallmark of our country.

YES - companies can abuse free-market systems, but socialism can smoother bad and GOOD coporate activity.

And MOST of all - Americans do not want a SOCIALIST in the White House.

Obama = Socialist means Obama loses!

Until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth into a small section of society who control capital, and creates an unequal society. All socialists advocate the creation of an egalitarian society, in which wealth and power are distributed more evenly, although there is considerable disagreement among socialists over how,it being the transitional stage between capitalism and communism.[3][ and to what extent this could be achieved

The evidence is there but like everything else in Obama’s liaisons with unsavory characters, the evidence is not clear cut. He can claim that he participated just to gain their support but that he did not actually supported their views or objectives.

What’s funny today is that from the newsletter that describes Obama’s participation in the town meeting, his propositions may have some value for his debate tonight against McCain. It says that he has experience debating issues related to how people are affected by economic crisis.

Comment by Patrick | 2008-10-07 19:01:43

Unfortunately, polls are not b.s. I wish they were. Yes, some are not as accurate as others, but the tried and true ones have stood the test of time. You must also consider that there are, at last count, over 4 million new registered voters who are not accounted for in this polling. I can guarantee that most of them will be voting Obama as it is his campaign drive that has done most of it (illegally or otherwise). I don’t mean to be a wet blanket but McCain has got to bring out the “dirt” NOW. We need him to expose Obama. If he waits much longer, he will lose!

I don’t think this association is as important as the one BO started when he was at Columbia with Ayers. BO work on Ayers foundations to disburse $MM over a number of years to ACORN for political education of Chicago teachers shows greater malfeasance. These educational plans show how he might mis-spend educational funds to achieve political goals on a national level, how he might change No Child Left Behind to achieve political hegemony. The inkling is the 100hr/yr service for people getting college loans.

These associations are merely decorations on the cake if the public can be made to believe and understand their importance.

Comment by Thinker | 2008-10-07 19:51:44

There are various reasons why:

1. Because Obama would have been out of the race a loooong time ago.

Let’s not forget that although many of us are voting for McCain as a stragegic vote,to get rid of Obama and his supporters, the GOP is no friend of Hillary Clinton.

If they brought this up in the primaries, Hill would most definitely be the Dem candidate right now, and she would beat John McCain.

2. The media wants Obama, so of course they won’t bring it up.

3. Everytime Hillary tried to bring up the various issues about Barack, the media said she was divisive and the Obama camp smeared her as racist.

One story above indicates that BHO was a community organizer in Harlem. Was that when he attended Columbia?

Comment by Matthew Weaver | 2008-10-07 23:57:20

The several times I’ve seen this say that at Columbia he as “very” active in the South African anti-apartheid effort and then upon graduating he was a community activist in Harlem, then Chicago for 5 years. I haven’t gone back through the timetable to see how long but recalling all of the queries about Obama’s time in NYC have apparently came up empty, including his time at Columbia, I’m personally doubtful. Nothing mentions a group or anything substantive.

Comment by Matthew Weaver | 2008-10-08 00:03:07

Here, take a look at http://web.archive.org/web/20010415022831/cwn.uchicago.edu/2000w/02.17/news/obama.html which reports and even quotes Obama:

“I realized I was interested in how to address issues of poverty and high unemployment in urban areas. And I also became interested in political organizing in general; I was active in the anti-apartheid campaign that was very active on college campuses back in the early ’80s,” said Obama. “I worked as a journalist for a year after college and then decided I wanted to become an organizer.”

Obama started with an organizing job in Harlem. Meanwhile, the Developing Communities Project in Chicago, made up of a church leaders on the far South Side, was looking to hire a young organizer to address the many issues that to plagued their communities. Offered $12,000 a year and a $1,000 grant to buy a used car, Obama drove to Chicago and took the job.

“I started working right away with the churches,” Obama said. “A lot of the steel plants had closed. There was a lot of racial transition in the community; basically the entire area had gone from white to black and Hispanic in a decade. For three and a half years, I worked to set up job training programs and addressed issues concerning school reform, public housing, public health programs and city services.”

Obama then returned to school in 1988 and obtained a law degree at Harvard University.

Okay Has anyone heard about his work or writings as a journalist? Another article, I think from Politically Black had him being more explicit in his anti-apartheid activities.

Comment by wodiej | 2008-10-07 19:36:26

Dem’s wouldn’t do it. Gee, no wonder they didn’t want Hillary in there-no more lining their pockets. McCain needs to make detailed points about Dodd, Frank and all other Dem’s who voted against regulation including OBAMA.

Comment by lark | 2008-10-07 19:43:58

Tonight is the perfect night to do that. All bets are off with Obama’s agenda. He is off balance. He cannot come out an offer anything costing money - nada. He has to back off out of everything he said in the first debate.

Tonight he will really take McCain’s agenda and appropriate it even to the last detail. He has too since Hillary’s agenda no longer is appropriate under these conditions.

Funny that I heard on Fox that Obama asked his 300 advisers to come up with new ideas to propose in the next three weeks.

But for tonight, McCain’s ideas will do fine. You’ll see. Mark these words.

When Obama participated in a 1996 UofC YDS Townhall Meeting on Economic Insecurity, much of what he had to say was well within the mainstream of European social democracy.

Any chance of finding anything else on this. We knew, KNEW, he was hiding his past. And I’m sure this isn’t all of it. Keep digging!

And NO, I don’t believe the polls.

I shared the quotes I found. I wonder if the YDS or UofC student paper wrote any follow-up on the townhall meeting?

You have to remember Alice Palmer, the woman from Chicago’s 13th district who recommended Obama to replace her seat. She was present at the living room coming out party at Ayers/Dohrn. She has communist ties, also.

Who is Alice Palmer?

Palmer is much more than the “influential liberal” described by Politico.

Ten years before the aforementioned meeting, Alice Palmer was an official of a notorious Communist front group (so identified by the FBI), the U.S. Peace Council, an affiliate of the World Peace Council, an international Soviet front. It goes without saying that during that era of the eighties, both of these mouthpieces for Moscow were working feverishly to undermine President Reagan’s arms buildup which played a major role in the downfall of the Soviet Union. That was the time of the worldwide Soviet-inspired nuclear “freeze” movement in 1983, when Palmer was also mentioned as a participant on the World Peace Council’s Prague assembly.

In 1986, Palmer wrote an article for the People’s Weekly World, a house organ for the Communist Party USA (CPUSA). In that dispatch, Palmer favorably recounted her experiences attending the 27th Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

(Note: Because Palmer later tried to reclaim her place in the State Senate, Obama moved to have her taken off the ballot. Thus this year, according to America’s Survival, she is supporting Senator Hillary Clinton for President.)

Comment by Matthew Weaver | 2008-10-08 00:14:15

Interesting point. Actually this might help answer other questions about tying Ayers and Dohrn into the mix. Alice Palmer was involved for years with New Party and DSA. It is claimed that she brought Obama to Ayers home, though other evidence says that Obama clearly already had ties to Ayers. And Obama was working FOR Palmer as her chief of staff. Which, as I write this, I don’t think has been given much appreciation or even noted before. Need to read more on this.

My apologies for the almost rambling answer…

Christian socialism generally refers to those on the Christian left whose politics are both Christian and socialist and who see these two philosophies as being interrelated. This category can include Liberation theology

Liberation Theology is what is taught by the Rev Wright. More pieces of the puzzle come together.

Saw this in the New Ground articles that are linked above in Matthew’s post:

The sentence this is clipped from is about the origins of the NP:

‘…ACORN and SEIU Local 880 were the harbingers of the NP…’.

I don’t know where local 880 is, but I do know that over the summer, Dakinikat had posted a photo of an ACORN building that also housed an SEIU local, in Louisiana, I think — the one that was providing phoney receipts for sound systems, etc., for BO’s campaign.

6 bodies found in Porter Ranch home
By Tony Castro and Susan Abram, Staff Writers
Article Last Updated: 10/06/2008 06:52:38 PM PDT

PORTER RANCH - The grisly news Monday of an out-of-work San Fernando Valley financial analyst killing his wife, three sons and mother-in-law before committing suicide was a chilling casualty of the country’s economic crisis.

Karthik Rajaram, 45, who had worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers and Sony Pictures, was identified as the gunman who killed his 39-year-old wife Subasri, their three sons - Krishna, a 19-year-old honors economics student at UCLA, and two boys, Ganesha, 12, and a 7-year-old - and 69-year-old mother-in-law, Indra Ramasesham, and then himself some time after 6 p.m. Saturday.

“I knew he was having problems getting another job, but wow,” said former business acquaintance Mark Crockett of Holladay, Utah. “It’s sad to hear this.”

Los Angeles police Deputy Chief Michel Moore attributed the killings to Rajaram’s inability to deal with financial ruin.

“This an absolute terrible tragedy,” Moore said. “The source of it appears to be a financial state, a crisis if you will, that this man became embroiled in that unfolded over the last few weeks.”

Rajaram admitted to the killings in one of three letters he left in the house, police said.”

End of excerpt.

I hope the major players who are fu**ing around with our economy for personal or political gains meet the victims of their financial antics in the afterlife (for those who believe in one) or in the next life here on earth (for those who believe in reincarnation).

Did Obama really work as a community organizer in Harlem?

Did Obama really work as a community organizer in Harlem?

We don’t know if obama worked as a ‘community organizer.’ Sure the resume obama turned in with his job application for president included ‘community organizer’ under experience but where is the evidence? Where is the obama rec center? Or the kid headed for an OD until obama turned his life a round. Where is anything other than an obama camapaign press release with proof that obama acualy did any community organizing. He used that job reference when applying for the position of Leader Of The Free World. Where the hell is the concrete proof he ever did such a thing as community organizing?

Comment by Matthew Weaver | 2008-10-08 00:28:49

Please see my comment up thread on this. Yes, he claimed work on anti-apartheid efforts at Columbia and after graducation did claim being a journalist and, in Harlem, a community activist. I haven’t tried matching dates to see how much time was after graduation and when he showed up in Chicago.

Another though, how many summer internships do law students typically do? I found mention of two in Chicago.

A Harvard bio of Obama indicates that he did work as a community organizer in Harlem.

From the web, again thanks to Google 2001:
http://web.archive.org/web/20011125013241/www.ksg.harvard.edu/saguaro/obama.html

Barack Obama
State Senator
Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland, P.C.
Chicago, IL

Barack Obama received his B.A. in Political Science from Columbia University. He spent five years working as a community organizer, first in Harlem, then in Chicago.

In 1988, Obama enrolled in Harvard Law School. There he served as the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review and was a member of the Executive Board of the Black Law Students Association. He graduated Magna Cum Laude.

In 1992, Obama served as Illinois Executive Director of Project Vote!, an effort that added over 100,000 newly registered voters.

In 1993, Obama was named by Crain’s Chicago Business as one of “40 under 40″ outstanding young leaders in the city of Chicago. He is the recipient of the 1995 Legal Eagle Award from IVI-IPO for his work in bringing Illinois into compliance with the National Voter Registration Act (Motor Vote). His commentaries have been heard on National Public Radio and his memoir, “Dreams of My Father,” was published by Random House in August, 1995.

Obama works as a civil rights attorney with the firm Davis, Miner, Barnhill and Galland. He specializes in employment discrimination, fair housing and voting rights litigation. He also lectures at the University of Chicago Law School, where he teaches civil rights law and related subjects.

In addition, Obama serves on the boards of several organizations: including the Chicago Annenberg Center Challenge (Chairman), the Joyce Foundation, the Woods Fund of Chicago, the Center for Neighborhood Technology, the Chicago Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under the Law and Public Allies. He is a member of the Cook County Bar Association.

So to follow up, if he started community-organizing in Harlem after graduation (another Harvard bio indicates that it came after his Columbia graduation) in 1983, that he was doing that in Harlem and Chicago during the time 1983-1988 (5 years), until he enrolled in Harvard in 1988.

Here’s an interesting result from Google 2001, that indicates that only 6 months of those 5 years were spent in Harlem, apparently “based at a city college in New York” which “had an urban program”. Unfortunately, I can’t get any more information than this. It’s not in the archives.

McCain just needs to ask Barry if he had any mentors growing up and at Columbia or Harvard that were normal and not identified with any radical group, past or present. Of course Barry wouldn’t be able to name one including his mother, father and grandparents who all seem to be of the socialist persuasion. So there you go, a crazy Communist and his crazy Communist wife are a stone’s throw from the W.H. and those of us who had grandparents who emigrated from Communist countries are holding our breath.

The majority of this country is deaf, dumb, and blind to anything negative about Obama. It’s just like when Bush got reelected - I kept saying to myself “what are they thinking?” Sure they woke up, but it was too late.

As I said in an earlier post, the only thing that will bring Obama down is if he is indicted before the election.

Unfortunately, if McCain doesn’t release all the “dirt” he has on Obama in his arsenal THIS WEEK, then it will be too late. If he waits much longer, people will be ticked off that he waited until the “eleventh hour’ to release it and it will backfire on McCain.

The reason why the Republicans win so many Presidential elections is because they know how to campaign. Plus they understand that the right timing is everything. McCain is doing the right thing. Nothing’s going to backfire on him.

I hate McCain. I hate his inadequate campaign. I hate his aides. It’s like they’re working in a vacuum with absolutely no idea of what’s going on outside, no idea of what people are talking about, what people want to hear. His debate performance was pathetic. He didn’t fight. He didn’t attack. He missed almost every available opportunity to convince Americans that Barak Obama is the worst possible prospect for America. No mention of his despicable extreme left wing anti-American past. Barely a mention of the Dems guilt in the sub prime crisis. No mention of ACORN. No mention of Ayers.

McCain and his team are just standing by as Americans get ready to do the dumbest thing they’ve ever done and vote a communist into the White House.

All Obama had to do tonight was sit back and put himself on autopilot, knowing fine well that this was McCain’s last chance. What the hell happened with McCain? Can anyone tell me?

I saw his speech yesterday. It had me on fire. I was punching the air. He took Obama in his teeth and savaged him. Why the hell can’t he do this in Obama’s presence? It’s as if the fool has his mind set upon being the gentleman, the non-partisan bringer-together-of-a-new-era-of-cooperation. Screw that! I don’t want him to cooperate and work with anti-American socialists! This is SERIOUS goddamn it!

*sigh*

What a pathetic man. WHAT a pathetic man. Sarah Palin would have hammered Obama tonight. McCain missed his last chance - and I’m sad to say, let down the country he keeps telling us he’s devoted himself to.

These were correcting typos and grammar. The initial sentence originally stated ‘member’ and this was changed to ‘affiliated’ as I cannot show proof that Obama was a card-carrying member. Affiliated seems safe as the documentation shows he attended multiple meetings of the membership, sought the group’s formal endorsement, followed up on that, and participated in multiple subsequent events. Finally, icing on the cake if you will, the group stated that a contract was required and visible follow-up expected. Obama must have reached agreement on the first as they did issue their endorsement and the latter is already clear.

Mccain just refuses to fight.

29 days left and he acts like he’s 30 points ahead.

The speech he gave in New Mexico also had me excited but it didn’t last. This was a repeat of the first debate.

I have never seen a candidate squander so many opportunities to kill his opponent. Obama is a joke, any other candidate would have taken him apart by now. All Obama did tonight was talk a bunch of socialist nonsense. He didn’t even answer some of the questions. Mccain could have attacked him and taken him apart on the economy. I have never seen a candidate have so much trouble facing off against a wack job liberal. Obama is the kind of candidate Republicans dream of facing. They are so easy to defeat but Mccain just can’t seem to do it.

I can’t take this crap anymore.

Comment by matchles | 2008-10-07 23:52:02

I agree, in Alaska the average citizen pays $5,000 a year in federal taxes and receives over $18,000 in federal spending. What other state can you see a return like that!?

Comment by Docelder | 2008-10-08 00:28:50

Maryland I think is pretty darn close. This tiny state doesn’t have the land mass of one quarter of the continental US like Alaska does. And they aren’t building a massive pipeline to send the rest of us natural gas.

Comment by matchles | 2008-10-08 02:21:19

Maryland gets quite a bit but they pay a lot more, so they rank around 18th in dollars received to dollars paid.. The top 5 are Alaska, New Mexico, Mississippi, West Virginia and Louisiana.

It kind of makes you wonder what would happen if we ever completely implemented the lower tax plans republicans want. On the whole it is mostly red states that pay the least but receive the most. What would happen to their federal dollars if everyone is paying less?

I already got my house picked out in Wasilla, but anywho, yeah I believe the McCain camp has something HUGE on Obama and will be releasing it in the next few days. I know someone who saw Sarah in Florida yesterday and actually talked to her for a minute, and thanked her for bringing up Ayers and she said the look on Sarah’s face was like “I know something you don’t know” kinda look, I think there are gonna be some juicy info coming out about the so-called Messiah that could change everything. yes the debate tonight was pretty much a draw, McCain couldn’t really bring up Ayers because it was questions from the audience and if I had been there I would have asked but of course most don’t think to ask something like that, get ready for some juicy goodies to be coming out soon

Comment by Docelder | 2008-10-08 00:23:50

Yes, a draw only because McCain can’t use his military experience without the dialogue going to Iraq and Iraq being a bummer even when things go well there. McCain actually held his own on the economy. He probably won that part of it. He hammered the taxes and it stuck. You could see the blank stares on the participants as Obama talked on and on often without saying anything really… they looked as if to think OMG. Obama reminds me of Ross Perot when he debates. There is a lot to come. There was a University of Chicago event in 1997… Michelle is there, Barack is there as a speaker, Ayers is there as a speaker and the topic is children super predators of all things. Interesting the choice of panelists. But as the say on infomercials… but wait there’s more.

I kept praying for Mac to start swinging… If nothing else, to keep hammering on, “Do I talk like Bush? Do I look like Bush? I just don’t understand why you keep getting me confused with him! Why do you insist on debating the policies of someone who isn’t even running, rather than debating mine? That is, when you’re not debating my VP…”

But upon further thinking about it…

There’s still more than a month to go. It may be too early for him to risk undecideds and moderates “tuning him out” for going to attack route.

He got in a few good jabs that had our local McCain headquarters clapping and laughing.

Still, it would have been nice for McCain to have said, regarding economic policy, “OK, Barack, now you’ve said you’re going to do all these things with the government’s money, and you said you’d cut spending in order to be able to afford to do those things. You say you’re going to have to review spending. But surely you have SOME idea about SOMETHING you’re going to cut. Have some fortitude to give one specific example to the American people, like I have.” And when he refuses, Mac can tell the American people, “You see? How do you know it won’t be homeland security? How do you know it won’t be Medicare? How do you know it won’t be oversight of our financial institutions to avoid another crisis like this one? You don’t know what he’ll leave untouched any more than you know what he’ll cut! He has no idea how he will pay for his grand plans, just a vague HOPE that he’s trying to sell to you, that he’ll find a way to do it, despite having no idea right now what that way is.”

Seriously, I agree with those who are guessing that something might be up. McCain was very confident tonight. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

I don’t want to burst anyone’s bubble but this information is not new. Investors Business Daily ran something on Obama and the New Party back in June. If this information could hurt Obama, it already would have. This kind of information, while disturbing those of us who take the time to seek it out, won’t have any effect on the voting public until they see it reported on abc, nbc, cbs and cnn. Sad but true.

Is there nothing in Obama’s past … his radical associates, his suspected activities with Ayers during his years at Columbia in NYC, his support from foreign parties with anti-US agendas, illicit business dealings … nothing that would disqualify him from obtaining national security clearance? It’s hard to believe this. This guy is as unscrupulous as they come … I really expected a new, damaging Obama revelation from the GOP by now. What a nightmare.

Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is a social democratic organization in the United States and the U.S. affiliate of the Socialist International, a federation of social democratic, democratic socialist and labor parties and organizations.

DSA was formed in 1982 by a merger of the Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee (DSOC) and the New American Movement (NAM). DSOC was the largest group to emerge from the splintering of the Socialist Party of America in 1973; two other Socialist Party factions went on to form Social Democrats USA and the Socialist Party USA. NAM was a coalition of writers and intellectuals with roots in both the New Left movements of the 1960s and the more traditional parties of the Old Left.

At its founding, DSA consisted of almost 5,000 ex-DSOC members and 1,000 ex-NAM members. By 1983 DSA reached 7,000 members, which it would not surpass until the early 1990s. Michael Harrington and socialist-feminist author Barbara Ehrenreich were elected as the organization’s co-chairs.

DSA is organized at the local level, and works with labor unions, community organizations, and campus activists on issues of common interest. Nationwide campaigns are coordinated by the organization’s national office in New York City. As of 2006 the DSA website lists 24 chartered locals.

The Congressional Progressive Caucus, a group of 65 Democratic legislators in the U.S. Congress anchored by U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), a DSA member, worked with DSA against the Multilateral Agreement on Investment (Sanders is the first self-described democratic socialist to be elected to the U.S. Senate. Sanders left the House in order to run in the 2006 election). DSA’s website included commentary supportive of the legislative caucus throughout much of the late 1990s.

DSA publishes Democratic Left, a quarterly journal of news and analysis. In 2008, DSA members active in the U.S. labor movement founded Talking Union, a blog that focuses on labor politics, working class struggles and strategies.

Notable DSA members have included United Farm Workers co-founder Dolores Huerta, SDS veteran Steve Max, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers President William W. Winpisinger, literary critic Irving Howe, feminist activist and journalist Gloria Steinem, actor Ed Asner, former Congressman Ron Dellums, author Barbara Ehrenreich, 1997 New York City mayoral candidate Ruth Messinger, United Auto Workers co-founder Victor Reuther, leading African-American Studies professor Cornel West, linguist Noam Chomsky (a “very passive” member), political scientist Stephen Rosskamm Shalom, political columnist Harold Meyerson, executive director of the Labor and Worklife Program at the Harvard School of Law Elaine Bernard, labor historian Nelson Lichtenstein, and political scientist Stephen Eric Bronner.

In August 2005, DSA announced that its membership had increased by some 13% since July 2003 as the result of a recent direct mail campaign. Membership in DSA is defined primarily by payment of annual dues.

Young Democratic Socialists (YDS) is the official youth section of Democratic Socialists of America.

At this point I think Senator Obama could have been on the KGB payroll through the 1980’s, swiped national security secrets and it wouldn’t matter. I don’t think many Obama supporters are going to find it shocking that he has ties to liberal organizations that many would label radical. His association with William Ayers hasn’t dissuaded many voters, so I don’t think ties with the Chicago New Party or Chicago DSA is going to either. Obama supporters and the undecided who are leaning towards him are going to consider it just another smear campaign.

I don’t find it surprising at all that he used either group to get elected. I would also suspect considering his family history that he was a card carrying member of the DSA, at least in college if not after graduation.

Forgive if this has been posted, but I find this newsworthy.

NAIROBI, Kenya – The government of Kenya is holding WND senior staff reporter Jerome Corsi incommunicado at the airport until he departs the country after police shut down a scheduled news conference in which he planned to announce the findings of his investigation into Barack Obama’s connections in the country.

Corsi, the author of the No. 1 best-selling book “The Obama Nation,” was picked up by authorities at his hotel at 9:45 a.m. and detained at Nyayo House, the provincial headquarters for Nairobi.

“Just as we were about to start the 10 a.m. press conference at the Grand Regency Hotel in Nairobi, Kenyan immigration approached us and detained us,” Corsi told WND by telephone this morning. “Tim Bueler, my publicist, and I are now in the immigration offices, with our passports taken. The immigration officer told the press, ‘There is no problem, and Dr. Corsi is a friend of Kenya.’”

Corsi and Bueler are booked on a British Airways flight to London tonight, an airline agent confirmed to WND. But Joseph Farah, WND editor and CEO, said he was in touch with Corsi until about 9:30 a.m. Eastern today and has not been able to reach him for several hours.

“We also hear unconfirmed reports from the government claiming it has ‘deported’ Corsi,” Farah said. “Since Corsi was scheduled to leave the country today, this would seem to be a strange action from a government that was well aware of Corsi’s presence, his travels and his activities in the country for the last week.”

Peter Mbae, a Kenyan publicist who arranged the news conference, told WND he spoke with an immigration officer who confirmed that Ministry of Immigration authorities are holding Corsi and Bueler at the airport until their flight tonight.

Their movements are restricted, and they have no access to telephones, Mbae said, citing the officer.

Corsi had extensive meetings with top Kenyan officials upon his arrival. His visit and his activities during his stay have been well-known to authorities at the highest levels.

Conservatives keep trying to pain Obama has a crazed radical, but he’s just not coming off that way; rather than sullying his image, conservatives are making themselves look like cold war nutcases who are willfully ignoring the real issues that this country is facing. And my God, the Republican leadership just voted in a massive economic intervention. Talk about the pot calling the kettle, er, black. We are all democratic socialists now.

Why not talk about the issues instead?

The good news? What the mainstream press chooses to report and not report is becoming less important by the day. Truth will out.

New Party And ACORN and Obama. Now it all fits together!

New Party And ACORN

New Party Organizes

By Bob Roman

On Saturday, January 14, the New Party in Chicago took another step in its effort to establish itself as a political force by holding a major outreach meeting directed at Chicago’s Left. About 100 people, with sizable delegations from DSA and CoC among others, heard Bruce Colburn and Elaine Bernard preach the gospel of the New Party. The audience was also introduced to the New Party’s first candidate in Chicago, Michael Chandler, who is running for Alderman in Chicago’s west side 24th ward. The meeting was held at the meeting hall of SEIU Local 880, a local that is tackling the extremely difficult task of organizing home health care workers in Illinois. SEIU Local 880 and ACORN share office space.

For me, Bruce Colburn was the more interesting speaker. Bruce Colburn is an officer of the Milwaukee Central Labor Council and the Chair of the local New Party affiliate in Milwaukee. He had a great deal to say about holding candidates accountable, maintaining a mobilized constituency, and the role of the labor movement in the process. Some of his comments were intriguing. He mentioned, for example, that labor in Milwaukee had begun canvassing its members to organize community groups.

The New Party movement has helped elect a number of candidates in Wisconsin, and it has united with a number of other left groups in Wisconsin to form the New Progressive Party of Wisconsin. The New Progressive Party has secured ballot status in the state.

All who had seen Elaine Bernard at last year’s Midwest Radical Scholars and Activists Conference were psyched up to see her again. And she gave a good performance. Elaine Bernard gave a cogent exposition on the nature of politics and the way the New Party uses this in its strategy.

The near term future of the New Party in Chicago is represented by Michael Chandler, candidate of the 24th Ward. Legal and illegal dumping, crime, housing and the Privatization Accountability Ordinance are the major issues in Mr. Chandler’s campaign. There are ten other candidates in the contest for Alderman of the 24th Ward. The incumbent is Jesse Miller, Jr. If Michael Chandler wins, the New Party will have established a foothold in mainstream Chicago politics.

The Saturday meeting was clearly intended to be a major step in organizing the New Party in Chicago. The next step is a meeting scheduled for February 1 at which the New Party will choose local officers. It’s clear that the New Party is hoping that enthusiasm generated at the Saturday meeting will help expand the New Party’s base.

In Chicago, the New Party’s biggest asset and biggest liability is ACORN.

Like most organizations, ACORN is a mixed bag. On one hand, in Chicago, ACORN is a group that attempts to organize some of the most depressed communities in the city. Chicago organizers for ACORN and organizers for SEIU Local 880 have been given modest monthly recruitment quotas for new New Party members. On the other hand, like most groups that depend on canvassing for fundraising, it’s easy enough to find burned out and disgruntled former employees. And ACORN has not had the reputation for being interested in coalition politics- until recently and, happily, not just within the New Party. In Chicago, ACORN has been working with the National Training and Information Center on housing issues, and Equip for Equality in challenging Illinois’ inaction on “Motor Voter” registration. ACORN has also become a major participant in Chicago Jobs with Justice.

But the nature of Chicago ACORN is secondary to the inevitable dynamics of the situation. As the single 800 pound gorilla in the Chicago New Party, it doesn’t leave a lot of room for newcomers to participate except on ACORN’s terms. This will make it difficult for the New Party to have a life apart from ACORN. The element that seems to be present in Milwaukee but absent in Chicago is organized labor.

Nationally, the New Party claims between 3,000 and 4,000 members and credit for electing several dozen candidates in various localities around the country. While the Saturday meeting had much to say about candidate accountability, it’s hard to assess exactly what these victories mean. The New Party is not dogmatic about establishing its own ballot line and is perfectly willing to support worthy Democratic, independents and (presumably) Republicans. In essence, the New Party functions as a Political Action Committee on steroids. As such, it represents the first truly canny, grass-roots attempt at dealing with the non-party, candidate centered electoral system in our country, but it makes “success” rather more difficult to measure.

Comment by K Johnson | 2008-10-08 22:24:28

I apologize if this is old news on this site, but I just learned most of it this week, finding it by nosing around on the internet, certainly not any of it from the MSM.

http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/publications/id.203/pub_detail.asp This is a link to an article by Cliff Kincaid linking his mysterious, nefarious connections to William Ayres, Bernardine Dohrn, Frank Marshall Davis, et. al.

Following are some words from Peter Olnos, a former Washington Post reporter and editor, (and one-time associate of I. F. Stone, the uncle of Kathy Boudin, a member of the Weather Underground, who served 22 years in prison for her role in the Brinks Armed Robbery in 1981 which took the lives of 2 police officers and a security guard. She was recently released in 2003. Her son, Chesa was raised by William Ayres and Bernardine Dohrn. He later attended Yale University and received a Rhodes Scholorship and then spent time in Venezuela, telling everyone how great things are there. But I digress.)

Here is Peter Olnos in his own words, speaking about the book he helped Scott McClellan to write and publish bashing his former boss, President George Bush:

“First we had to ascertain what kind of book he wanted to write,” said Osnos, a former Washington Post reporter and editor. “We are journalists, independent-minded publishers. We weren’t interested in a book that was just a defense of the Bush administration. It had to pass our test of independence, integrity and candor.”…
Osnos called the book “a really sophisticated, thoughtful, reasoned and, in many ways, pained portrait of a president” and said, “The Bush he came to serve went off the rails.”

Peter Osnos

Nov. 21, 2007

Peter Osnos, the founder and editor-in-chief of Public Affairs Books, which is publishing McClellan’s book in April, tells NBC from his Connecticut home that McCLellan, “Did not intend to suggest Bush lied to him.”

Osnos says when McClellan went before the White House press corps in 2003 to publicly exonerate Libby and Rove, the problem was that his statement was not true. Osnos said the president told McClellan what “he thought to be the case.” But, he says, McClellan believes, “the president didn’t know it was not true.”

In an excerpt from his forthcoming book, released Monday on the publisher’s web site, McClellan recounts the 2003 news conference in which he told reporters that aides Karl Rove and I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby were “not involved” in the leak involving operative Valerie Plame. “There was one problem. It was not true,” McClellan writes, according to a brief excerpt released Monday. “I had unknowingly passed along false information. And five of the highest-ranking officials in the administration were involved in my doing so: Rove, Libby, the vice president, the president’s chief of staff and the president himself.”

******

Peter Osnos, the liberal founder of PublicAffairs books who “worked very closely” with Scott McClellan on his anti-Bush screed which has enraptured the news media, denied, the Washington Post reported Friday, that McClellan had “undergone heavy-handed editing,” but in maintaining that he had not steered McClellan to write anything he didn’t believe, Osnos exposed a political agenda as he conceded he had no interest in a pro-George W. Bush book. Equating criticism of the Bush administration with “integrity and candor,” Osnos, the former Washington Post reporter and editor who in March denounced Rush Limbaugh as “bombastic, aggressive, and mean,” told the Post:

We are journalists, independent-minded publishers. We weren’t interested in a book that was just a defense of the Bush administration. It had to pass our test of independence, integrity and candor.

******

Peter Osnos, who wrote Wednesday that he “worked very closely” with Scott McClellan on McClellan’s new book published by PublicAffairs which Osnos founded, is a liberal whose publishing house is affiliated with the far-left The Nation magazine and the publisher of The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder

A lot of people here really need to understand that people don’t care about any of these things. they won’t believe some fanatical bloggers who’ll say anything. No. Obama is no secret communist. He might lean socialist, but that’s a very different thing. In any case, he’d be a social democrat (which I don’t think he’ll hide the fact that he is). It seems many here don’t understand the difference between socialism and communism. It seems uncle McCarthy’s politics of fear got to some of you and never let you go. What do you think he’s going to do when he wins? Line up people and shoot them? Take all your property and money? Come on! You’re just mindless fanatics just like those we see so much on the left. Is Obama the best possible candidate for president? No he’s not. Is he a better candidate than John McCain? By a mile. McCain is not a bad person, he’s just your typical career politician, (with even more dubious tie$) and frankly, those aren’t very popular right now. Every once in a while there is a need for something new: a person, an idea, or just a plain generational change. Now is one of those times. Things are bad. They got this way while Republicans were in charge for 8 years. Democrats would’ve won this election even if Mickey Mouse had been their candidate. That’s not to say americans are ignorant, they are, but it says they’ve lost their trust in the ruling party. It like a dressing room: They tried red, and didn’t like it. Now, they’re trying blue.

You guys are something else. Talk about sour grapes and sore losers. Play the “hussein” card and “un-aemrican” and other bs cards all you want - - most of the country disagrees with your sorry views. The problem with you folks is that you take everything reported on Fox and Drudge and by Rush as Gospel, worthy of press anywhere. Newsflash - - they are not the standard by which “news” is to be judged. The press has a responsibility to not become the National Enquirer. I see conservative opinions by noted conservative columnists peppered all over the “liberal” publications you all bash. Clinton was skewered by your now hated MSM during Monica-gate. Reagan was beloved in the MSM. The MSM made Dukakis look like an idiot. The MSM played up the Al Gore is stiff and arrogant angle. The MSM played up when Bush ran in 2000 about how “likeable” he was. And your candidate until this year called the MSM his “base.” Your candidate McCain is losing because of the economic conditions in our country and an unpopular war! NOT BECAUSE OF THE MSM! You guys are such morons. It’s not that the MSM “wants Obama” as you so desperately like to to believe - - if things were just fine in the country, McCain would trounce Obama or any other dem candidate. Get over it. You had 8 years - - give the guy a chance. Can’t be any worse than Bush. And let’s get something else straight about this socialism nonsense - - first, he’s not, but even if he was, there’s a thing called congress that would never got that route, under dems or repubs. Please think people!

Matthew Weaver:

Thank you for your piece about Obama’s “radical past”. I do appreciate even hostile coverage when it allows people to actually review the source materials. As a polemic, I think you’ve done fairly well. One measure is how widely the article spreads, and this is doing relatively well compared to similar efforts.

The key to a good polemic, however, is to stick as closely to the facts as possible; any misdirection should be left to the reader. As models of good practice, I would recommend Cliff Kincaid and Josh Muravchik. They’re not perfect but no one is.

However, I think you fell down in one crucial point. Nowhere in the article proper do you actually SAY that the New Party is a creation of the Democratic Socialists of America. This is a good thing. It allows your readers to jump to that conclusion themselves, and you’ll note that many of the repostings on the web do just that. Your error is have written the rest of the article as if that were indeed a fact. Chicago DSA was generally supportive of the New Party in Chicago, but the New Party was very much a different organization. Even the estimate, quoted in a recent article by Muravchik, that there was a 15% overlap in membership should be taken with salt. The folks organizing the New Party (ACORN, mostly, in Chicago) did not regard the ideological left as a prime (or even secondary) constituency.

The assumption that DSA = NP makes much of the article nonsensical.

Although I should add that for many of your readers, any distinction between the New Party, DSA, the Communist Party, the Americans for Democratic Action, the AFL-CIO, etc., would be mostly academic. We’re all unpatriotic, amoral animals, yes? In that context, you could say pretty much whatever you please, whatever makes a good story, and it would make perfect sense. It would not be factual nor would it be the truth.

1a) The only Chicago DSA meeting that Obama every attended was the Town Hall Meeting on Economic Insecurity. And that was not exclusively a DSA meeting, having been organized by the UofC YDS and the UofC College Democrats. If Obama ever attended any other Chicago DSA meeting, it would be news to me, and I’d love to learn of it. (The memorial for Saul Mendelson, for example, was not organized or endorsed by DSA, though you can be sure that many DSA members were there.)

2a) Obama did not seek the endorsement of Chicago DSA. This paragraph only factual and truthful if you were to substitute New Party for Chicago DSA.

3a) The same as 2a above, although if you have any evidence that Obama actually used Chicago DSA’s endorsement, I’d love to see it. In fact, as he used the old political tactic of having all his opponents removed from the ballot, I’m not sure that he had much of a campaign.

5a) This is actually both factually wrong and untruthful; Obama extended the invitation to the New Party at a New Party meeting.

1b) Once again, the article was reporting on a meeting of the New Party, not a Chicago DSA meeting.

5b) Once again, the article was reporting on a meeting of the New Party, not a Chicago DSA meeting.

Making Chicago DSA the fulcrum of your argument makes the story easy. For conservatives, we are such a convenient hate-object. You need not go any further than the word “socialists” and all critical facility is gone. The actual story is rather more complicated, difficult to write, even if it should still be worrisome for most conservatives.

Thankfully, none of this substantially changes your conclusion as in that final paragraph you broaden your focus from Chicago DSA to Chicago’s left in general. From an ideologically conservative point of view, these are questions worth asking even if I don’t agree that it’s of much interest to the majority of voters. It was a good thing that you included links to the original documentation as I think much of what we published in “New Ground” will provide some insights to Obama, even if I’m not sure that many of the folks commenting on your article have actually understood what they’ve read. (It’s not stupidity, mostly, but rather a matter of expectations getting in the way of perception.)

Hoping for your complete and utter defeat,

You people have totally lost it. The rightwing of American politics is a spectacular disaster. You have had TOTAL control of the government for the last 8 years. And the result is financial apocalypse, moral vacancy, anti-intellectual stupidity and military quagmire.

You are a complete embarrassment to this country. The entire world cannot stand you. And contrary to the propaganda that you so eagerly regurgitate, the blame for that rests with you - your attitudes and your actions.

It’s time to take your medicine like adults. It’s time for you to retreat back into your reptilian caves and STFU.

Dude, give me a break! Obama a democratic socialist? A DSA member? In my dreams! I should know, I AM a DSA member!

Obama is a centrist who supports neoliberal economics overall. See the article by Joseph Schwartz in the latest issue of DSA’s publication, Democratic Left.

And get your facts straight. DSA is NOT a political party; it is a political activist organization. Check the website, http://www.dsausa.org

So Obama spoke on a panel at the University of Chicago, a public event that the campus DSA chapter organized? So what? That does not make him a DSA member or mean he shares our values and policy preferences. It just means some students wanted to hear what he and other people had to say.

Great work! Thanks for getting the word out.

The association with the Acorn group also is upsetting since they get our tax dollars and openly support Obama.
The Acron group is at the center of bringing the financial markets down with the subprime loans and is involved in voter fraud. Obama has supported this group and promoted and helped pass the bad regulation. Since tax dollars go to Acron, we tax payers are paying for the support of Obama. How unfair is that? Leave it to the Congress to waste our hard earned money and use our money to go against what we believe. Thank you all for trying to get the word out on the real Obama. No one gets any information on Obama from the media.

“Politics makes for strange bedfellows.”

See http://www.bartleby.com/59/3/politicsmake.html for the meaning.

I do not find it problematic that any candidate would seek to appeal to all (non-violent) sectors of a society. I’d certainly hope that Republicans would be able to reach out to people in this Chicago New Party on whatever areas where they have common interest. I’m sure there are a variety of areas where they do have common interests.

Obama’s campaign has raised so much money that they can even afford trolls to go around and discredit factual, documented history Obama was involved in. How wonderful for the marxist Obama and his followers.

Now because they are here, (SEE ABOVE REMARKS) everyone just walk away and don’t think like Obama minions, just forget this story. I think Obama maniacs get a free sucker if they turn people away from the truth.

Like ACORN, they get paid for doing illegal activities, obama’s trolls get paid for lying.

Now when is Obama going to take his lying socialist self to court and prove citizenship in Berg vs Obama? With all the lies coming out it is a given he is lying about being a naturalized citizen.

Before you posted did you even go to wayback internet archive links for your association that Obama had scrubbed from the internet? Your association has lied he was a member? They did all those records on him for what?

Lemme guess, you are also a lifelong republican voting democrat for the first time in your life?

You people are hysterical (in many senses of the word). DSA radical? Please. They’re the moderates- you’re the extremists. BTW, the big, scary Socialist International includes Britain’s Labour Party. “OMG! A member of the Socialist International has been in the White House!!!”

I finally got to read this article. Did you? It seems it was supposed to say something negative about Barack, but what I read is that he was a participant in a local organization where he could try to make changes happen, where he could influence some people to understand the need for country/ state/ cities to reform. He voted for welfare reform saying that we need to help people who are struggling to receive childcare and medical benefits while they get school, and/or on-the-job training so they can learn to help themselves. Any one who doesn’t believe that people need help getting their lives straightened must be….republican??? And that the system doesn’t need reform??
How many people have you met that twist federal aid to suit their needs, rather than trying to help themselves? He went to Harvard which doesn’t make him better or worse than anyone, but it does simply highlight the fact that he has a high degree of intelligence. And he is eloquent in his speech, because he is a thoughtful, considerate man who thinks about what he wants to say and understands the best way to get it across. I admire this man who is resourceful, respectful, and intelligent. Radical past, are you kidding me? He was involved in his community, in a program to help his community. That is admirable

It’s not Barack Obama! It’s the people for which he sold his soul. Read this: This is a MUST!

http://www.colony14.net/id41.html

Obama sold his soul. He was a crack user from early years and I would suspect to today. He flunked out of high school, college, etc. His degree and attendence to Harvard were paid by radicals. He no longer has his law degree. I suspect he never passed the bar exame the first time. He now owes the redicals everything at our expense. A puppet on a string. Either he produces or he is GONE….

October 19, 2008: Louis Farrakhan deemed a “new beginning” for the group. (Islam)

And for all you people who beleive in abortion: Islam denounces it 100%.

Freedom for and foremost. That’s what my forefather’s fought for and I will also……….

Comment by silverwolf064 | 2008-11-06 21:18:20

wow, do you know a thing about obama or are you just listening to false rumors? Obama didn’t flunk out of school, he is a very well educated man and taught constitutional law for ten years. He and his wife are lawyers, and radicals were never in the equation. In the four years he lived in Indonesia he attended two years at a Catholic school and then two years at a public school. The public school he attended was very westernized (the teachers and kids wore western clothing) and they were encouraged to celebrate Christmas. and it doesn’t matter that Islam denounces abortion, Obama isn’t muslum. He’s a full Christian. So next time you try to talk politics, try to do some fact checking.

Thank you to every one of the honourable people posting this powerfully important information. Are the MSM catching on that a Marxist America may not be in their own best interest? I think so, but let’s speed the process.

Surely some less radical persons with access to television time, who understand the implications of Obama’s hidden AGENDA will offer opportunities to McCain’s team to speak on T.V. and present their concerns. The truth is, that they have been raising these serious questions all along. However, the MSM brushed it off as nonsense.

What do you think of Obama’s panels of experts? Doesn’t it have a sort of communist China flavour to it? It tells me that he is getting desperate.

We need to create a surge right at home for McCain to stop this threat!

Comment by Mark Jones | 2008-10-22 12:40:21

When I say that we need a SURGE, I mean a media, word of mouth, visible signage surge –any visible, hearable, noticeable, out there surge that is legal and acceptable –and follow it with a voting surge!

THE PERFECT STORM FOR A DEPRESSION …
A far left Media …
A far left President …
A far left Congress …
A far left Senate …
A far left Supreme Court …
This would eliminate all the checks and
balances that our democracy is based upon.
Barack Obama formed his political and economic
ideology, and his radical associations, during the
TWENTY YEARS … yes, that’s TWENTY YEARS … when
he followed Marxist Black Liberation Theology, in
Jeremiah Wright’s anti-American, racist church.
And, now, with our country on the brink of depression,
Obama wants to impose new laws which would change
America into a third world country.
You may be upset with George Bush, but in spite
of Obama’s slogans, John McCain is NOT George Bush …
so don’t over react to Obama’s 600 million dollar
Propaganda campaign designed to highjack America !!!
A vote for Obama is a vote for changing America beyond
recognition … and, it would be a vote for voter fraud,
a corrupt media, socialism, and the end to America as we know it.
Keep America free, strong, safe, and American …
Elect McCain/Palin on November 4th.

Majority of these comments on here is so innacurate it is actually funny. We need to check Obama out, because he wasn’t born in this country ARE YOU KIDDING ME, HOW IGNORANT CAN YOU BE. Now I know what kind of people are supporting McCain. Do you know that Palin (who you are actually voting for) said that her job description and I quote “Would Be To Run The Senate”. You are so scared and annoyed that there is a possibility that a BLACK man will be president that you are voting for someone who does not even know the job description of a Vice President….and at the same time you have the nerve to say that you love this country….you are trying to organize a war against the media….WHY, the media is not telling these idiots what to say they are saying it all by themselves….

Why don’t you just be adults and stop hiding behind the media and just say you don’t want to vote for him because he is BLACK…..all that other stuff is you just blowing smoke……

It’s no surprise that someone like Obama would gravitate toward Chicago - seeing it is the birth place for liberalism and communism in the U.S.

Instead of attacking the guy for trying to make a difference, why don’t you try and make some positive changes in your community. Obama is now the president of our country. There is nothing you can do to change that. Deal with it and try to make a differance where you can!

Not suprising, AND he has the glowing approval of the
Communist Party USA…..

Sam Webb, National Chair, CPUSA, writes on the web site:
http://www.cpusa.org/article/articleview...
“Just look at the new lay of the land: a friend of labor and its allies sits in the White House. Larger Democratic majorities control Congress. A feeling of renewal and hope is in the air. Public opinion polls show a high favorability rating for our new President. And the labor and people’s movement that was so instrumental to the election’s outcome, after a short holiday pause, is off and running. “
