[Location Correction & KEY Update] This Is Hot! Join Harriet Christian This Saturday from NYC to Scranton, PA and Hit the Pavement

mccainharriet1-1.jpgIf you can’t do the Ohio jaunt (but you still will want to donate to help our McCain Democrats make their Ohio campaign a success), you can’t pass up joining Harriet Christian this Saturday, and every weekend until November. Harried wrote to me today about the coolest person-to-person campaign blitz in Pennsylvania this Saturday, where you’ll travel from Penn Station in NYC to Scranton, PA, and back home to NYC in the evening. UPDATE: E-mail Harriet at hchristian@infnyc.com to CONFIRM, hopefully by mid-afternoon Thursday.

The best parts: The bus trip is free for you, and you’ll meet Harriet and other McCain/Palin supporters. This trip couldn’t be easier: You’ll be helped and given everything you need!

The details: The bus taking you to Scranton leaves NYC’s Penn Station at 9:00 a.m. sharp. Meet up outside Penn Station, along West 31st St., before the corner with Eighth Ave. The bus arrives in Scranton at 11:00 a.m. You’ll return to the bus at 6:00 p.m. and get back to Penn Station @ 8:00 p.m.

NOTE the Scranton location correction:If you want to drive to Scranton,” Harriet says, “meet up with everyone coming from NYC at @ 11:00 at Scranton’s McCain/Palin campaign office at 430 Lackawanna Ave..” GO TO Democrats for McCain at 420 North Main Ave., Scranton, PA 18504. More details follow:

Here’s more from Harriet:

Flyers and other materials will be provided by the McCain campaign.  They have flyers for Hillary supporters in Scranton – Hillary won by almost 70% there.

Tell people to dress comfortably – and to wear layers – in case the weather changes.

This is the first weekend trip. The free buses will be provided by the McCain Campaign every Saturday and Sunday for the rest of the campaign.

If I weren’t a few thousand miles away, I’d be there in a heartbeat!

:::::::::::

Check out Truthteller’s great report on the exciting Ohio trip: Your donations, small or large, will make the difference in how far this great group can go in Ohio!

Here, we usually talk politics. This time we can DO politics. We can not only talk the talk, but walk the walk — by helping financially and/or by hopping on those buses.

When McCain wins, the press should replay the clip of Harriet at the RBC meeting “John McCain will be the next president!”

Only Obots would support a man who CONTINUALLY talks about the “whites”, the “typical, bitter… white”.

STFU!

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-10-08 20:23:45

She is not an idol, other than she speaks her mind.

Comment by Anon | 2008-10-08 20:24:25

Only an obot would idolize a person who refers to his own grandmother as a typical white person.

Comment by mary | 2008-10-10 01:14:11

Barry Soetoro has thrown his Uncle Jerry USKKK under the bus. His typical white grandmother to whom he owes everything–and whom he didn’t even bother to stay a full hour with when he took off to bask in the Hawaii….
Gosh, there are so many bodies under Barry’s Bus that the fumes must be getting out of hand…
Harriet, one of my fave PUMAS did prophesize that Sen. McCain would win. How I wish Hillary would return…But McCain’s plan to get the economy back on track is almost the same as Hillary’s–and a smart move to buy off mortgages with the Home Onwers Loan Corp….If they Wall Street and Bush Bozos had listened to Hillary’s Economic Policy plan a year and a half ago, they could have diverted this Greed Crisis!
Time Magazine had a good article on Gov. Palin. I don’t agree with her conservative (social) views, but she has not followed her own opinions on Abortion and Gay Rights. She followed the letter of the law and said so–to her immense credit. Come to think of it, it’d be great to have Sarah crack open the DNC Ceilling come November–before Hussein plasters all over it again….
Thanks Susan–great post as always!!!!!

Go Harriet! Speak from the Heart! WE LOVE N.Y.

Us “Whities” haven’t been spared the namecalling.

Obama says we’re a “typical white person”

Bill Maher says we’re “f**king dumb”

A CBC journalist calls us “white trash”

So we’re your “typical f**king dumb white trash,” but we’re proud (of our country).

Comment by lusitania | 2008-10-09 00:32:08

Let’s not forget Howard Dean who calls us “low class”.

Comment by snosandy | 2008-10-09 08:40:23

I’ll add him to the list

So we’re “typical f**king dumb low class white trash,” (and still proud). Hello friends.

Comment by Wisewoman | 2008-10-10 17:58:07

I am an AA supporter of Hillary. I can not and will not support Obama the phony, race-baiting, race-agitator who falsely accused the Clintons of racism. Because I marched with Dr. King in Jacksosn, MS during my college days, attended civil rights rallies, one in which Burt Lancaster, Sammy Davis Jr, and Peter lawford were present, you can add me to the a similar list of “typical f**king dumb low class black trash,” who believes in COUNTRY FIRST and who will not be voting for OBAMA. He is simply a hooligan with a Harvard degree who is one of the main reasons for the stock market’s plunge.

Ladies and gentlement, please ignore this piece of shit troll. [Don't use that term again. Please.]

He is just bitter and clinging to his race baiting and his anger towards women and his antipathy to real democrats who were not willing to become Obamacrats as a way to explain his spiritual bankruptcy for worshipping a political huckster who fooled the AA community and then guilted white liberals into thinking that he actually has a claim on all of them and that they should support him unconditionally irregardless of his lack of integrity, qualifications, record, experience or honesty, in short the Affirmative Action Candidate…it’s how he got into harvard, its how he is trying to get into the White House.

Harriet has been very successful bringing people together – she is part of the reason the PUMA movement started. McCains campaign needed buses because volunteers were filling up the vans they had previously been getting.

and then hit the road.

Remember what happened to us just when Hillary started winning–the polls told us she was done, out, through. And for us to go home. They are doing the same thing now, do not listen to them!

I’m still using old google site-now I see why us old dems ar disenfranchised google “new democratic party and Chicago.
They state they are a 3rd party-so no wonder they don’t want us and why they have moved to Chicago.
This is a blurb :

Run right at the bastards
Little Rock is progressive New Party’s success story.

By Michael Haddigan
June 16, 2000

n City directors with ties to the grassroots New Party have bedeviled business leaders and developers over Little Rock’s headlong westward expansion.

They pushed for crime prevention and intervention programs as alternatives to jail construction and called for a Citizen Review Board to examine police procedures.

Along the way, the New Party directors have mussed the pompadours of city leaders accustomed to following the business community’s lead on policy.

“They have advocated things that are divisive and harmful to the business environment of our city,” said director Michael Keck, a solid proponent of western Little Rock development.

One of Central Arkansas’s biggest wheels, Alltel Corp. chairman Joe Ford, put it more bluntly.

“It’s frightening,” Ford recently told the Arkansas Times. “I read how that party works. It’s scary.”

But city director Paul Kelly and other New Party members make no apologies.

“I didn’t run for the board so I could be a member of some club,” Kelly said. “I see myself as an agent of change.”

The New Party proudly points to footholds in Chicago, suburban Washington, D.C., Minneapolis, Portland, Ore., Madison, Wis., and Missoula, Mont.

But nowhere has the party been as successful as in Little Rock.

Little Rock’s 1,000 New Party members make up a full 5 percent of the party’s national strength.

Through the 1990s in Little Rock, the New Party steadily transformed support in low- and moderate-income city neighborhoods into local government power.

They have helped elect Kelly and three other New Party-affiliated directors – Genevieve Stewart, Johnnie Pugh and Willie Hinton – to the 11-member city board.

Two Pulaski County justices of the peace, Donna Massey and Jayne Cia, are also New Party members.

And two state representatives, Michael Booker of Little Rock and Jim Lendall of Mabelvale, have New Party ties.

Perhaps the New Party’s success in Little Rock should not be so surprising.

The grassroots ACORN community organization was born here, operates the popular KABF-FM radio station and has aggressively organized working people in Little Rock neighborhoods for years.

And Arkansas is home to a progressive tradition that supported organizations like the Southern Tenant Farmer’s Union and, in the mainstream, helped elect former Sen. J. William Fulbright and the young Gov. Bill Clinton

The New Party has attracted low-income residents, neighborhood activists, environmentalists, idealistic college kids, labor union members, the old New Left, disaffected Democrats and others dissatisfied with the two-party system. ”

Interesting find-so I am not nuts-this IS no longer my old democratic party

Comment by snosandy | 2008-10-08 23:48:16

So, the piece of the puzzle why the DNC headquarters just moved to Chicago fits in now.

lynn sweet has a couple of good posts on obama’s accomplishments or not in the IL senate:

CHICAGO–Barack Obama points to ethics legislation he helped pass in Springfield as one of his central achievements while in the Illinois State Senate. He uses the measure to bolster his credentials as a reformer. Obama also uses the bill to suggest he is willing to buck the system and take political risks and hits. But at the time the bill passed in Springfield, Obama never suffered any significant political backlash that anyone noticed.

That 1998 ethics bill, it should also be noted, did nothing to stop government corruption under former Gov. George Ryan, now a federal inmate, or Gov. Blagojevich, who is being investigated by the feds.

The ethics bill was filled with loopholes, enough so that some lower-level staffers involved in its production likened it to “Swiss cheese.”

Some lawmakers took out loans to artificially inflate their campaign fund balances on July 1, 1998, so they could later claim a higher amount for personal use. Officeholders moved their fundraisers from the off-limits confines of Springfield to Chicago, routinely shuttling back and forth on legislative session days to collect campaign cash in Chicago.

The actual gift-ban prohibition, essentially a few sentences long, contained more than two dozen exceptions, allowing interest groups to fly lawmakers to the Carribbean on “educational missions” that were little more than all-expenses-paid junkets. And tough new penalties imposed under the law for the late disclosure of campaign fund documents resulted in six-figure fines against some officeholders, but those steep fines later were watered down by the State Board of Elections.
blogs.suntimes.com/sweet/2008/10/obama_springfield_ethics_bill.html

CHICAGO–Former Sen. Peter Fitzgerald (R-Ill.) left his mark on civic life in Illinois by sticking his neck out to try to expose the serial corruption among local government officials that has become a fact of life.

Fitzgerald was so unpopular that then state senator Barack Obama considered running for the U.S. even before Fitzgerald decided not to try for a second term.

“I never heard him speak out,” Fitzgerald said, about “corruption in Washingotn, in Springfield, and Chicago.” Obama “looks the other way…One candidate…fights for reform…and has the scars to prove it…”

I hope McCain Democrats will remind voters in Ohio about Obama’s conflicting positions on NAFTA. Obama promised to renegotiate NAFTA during the Ohio primary but then sent his adviser to Canada to assure them it was only election rhetoric. Obama has flip-flopped on many issues including FISA and public financing. Voters cannot trust his rhetoric.

Hey fellow, fired up P.U.M.A’s…..

We NY area Puma’s enjoyed a gathering in Manhattan this past Tuesday night, organized by Wayne, creator of POC PUMA. Wayne did a fantastic job of coordinating us rabid new *republican* voters, and even arranged for CBS Mobile to film those who wished to air our truths. We were thrilled to have a representative from McCain headquarters (in Virginia), who was clearly impressed by our commitment to McPalin. Wayne has been sending out evites to get a head count of those of us who will be SCREAMING NOBAMA in Pennsylvania. We owe a HUGE debt of gratitude to him for his unwavering loyalty and activism in our quest to unhinge the self anointed messiah from this dirty pedestal. I am one of the original JSND’ers along with Will, Diane, Cristi, Peter, Robin, et al, and what started out with 7 people has truly blown us all away. I take solace in knowing that we number in the millions of disaffected Hillary voters who are sticking to our imaginary guns. I finally met Harriet, and yes, she is quite lovely!
Bless you all, and we shall celebrate victory as the last state goes red on Nov. 4th.

Buses coming to Scranton! That is about 15 minutes away from where I live. This is a great pick, guys, because Scranton is “Hillary country!” There is also a new headquarters started by Democrats who are pushing for McCain. I hope you can get this on the local news (WNEP or WBRE), because there is much uneasiness and anger here about an Obama presidency, no matter what the polls say.

As for Harriet, yes, she is an icon. However, I would like to think that there is a little “Harriet” in each of us…or we wouldn’t have been “here” for so long.

As an afterthought, the RNC is vigorously mailing leaflets to Democratic households. I got one today which quotes many important Democrats (Bill Clinton, Hillary, Joe Biden, Ed Rendel, Catherine Baker Knoll,Tom Vilsak, and Ted Strickland) saying that Obama just “isn’t qualified to hold the highest office in this country.” Also, on my walk today, I noticed many visible McCain/Palin yard signs such as “Women for McCain” and “Democrats for McCain.” Later, I had to travel to Wayne County and saw McCain signs everywhere. It did make me smile.

So..we forge on. Welcome to Scranton, PA, everyone!

Huckabee was on the news this morning claiming that he’s heard from some very savvy insiders who are seriously thinking the stock market is being manipulated. I have never taken much note of conspiracy theories, but the daily pattern of sell offs are too, too coincidental; the pattern is too consistent.

Think of George Soros bring down the Bank of England; think of massive contributions from “unreported” “small” donors–I believe absolutely what’s been revealed is the tip of the iceberg (and a very real reason why Obama wouldn’t share his contributor’s list with Hillary); think of the huge spaces in Obama’s life that are being kept absolutely secret.

He’s a dupe–a narcissistic dupe–and there are too many people and too much money protecting him.

This country is going down if we can’t convince Americans that they’re about to sell themselves into slavery. Who would benefit from a Great Depression in the free world?

Comment by Jess | 2008-10-16 16:02:32

I went last weekend, it was awesome. People really were undecided. Most were hillary supporters in the neighborhood and were very interested in what we had to say. it was great.
