The Hit on Palin

Sarah Palin cannot expect politicians in Alaska to have her back because she took on the special interests in the Republican party and whipped their ass. Now comes the charge that she “abused” her power? Why? Because she did not tell her husband to stop complaining about her asshole brother-in-law.

The fact that some seemingly rational people want to argue that this is disqualifying of Palin is a fucking joke. For starters, let’s review the fundamental conclusion–there is no evidence that Sarah Palin fired the Public Safety Commissioner because he wouldn’t fire her brother-in-law, the State Trooper. Got it?

Next, her State Trooper brother-in-law, a guy named Wooten, is still on the job. Now let’s ask a question. Let’s suppose that Sarah’s sister and this loser were still married. If this guy were allowed to stay on the job despite misconduct Palin would probably face charges that she was playing favorites.

Let’s look at this trooper’s record and start with the fact that the investigation of Wooten, which led to his dismissal suspension , started before Sara Palin was elected Governor. And this is not just some messy case of he said/she said. Turns out the Wooten was an out of control law enforcement officer. An investigation of his conduct concluded that he was guilty of the following:

Three incidents of Unbecoming Conduct
Three incidents of Personal Misconduct
One incident of Failure to Perform Duties Properly, Use of Government Property
Two incidents of Conformance to Laws
One incident Use of Alcohol
One incident Operation to Be Prudent and Lawful

These violations included using a taser on his ten-year old stepson, shooting a cow moose without a valid permit, and drinking beer while operating a marked Alaska State Trooper vehicle. (The dude sounds like the cop Seth Rogen played in Superbad.)

If you want to make the case that Palin’s husband should have ignored this clown, who reportedly made threats against the family, then you live in a world I do not know and I do not care to know. I don’t want drunken, angry, law-breaking assholes running around with a gun and badge. Todd Palin. Good on you man, you stood up for your family.

Wasn’t there supposed to be a verdict today?

Did anyone hear anything?

Comment by Paul F. Villarreal | 2008-10-10 20:36:09

I’m siding with the people who are opposed to the guy who tasered his pre-teen son and who threatened to kill Palin’s dad, I believe. That’s an easy call.

.

Here is some video from a McCain rally today. Two average Americans express their fear of an Obama administration and their distrust of Obama, himself:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZcjyrzcwNY

What the woman says about Obama’s ethnicity likely came from the work of Kenneth Lamb. I cannot speak to its truth or falsehood. Here is what Lamb wrote on the subject:

http://www.kennethelamb.blogspot.com/2008/02/barak-obama-questions-about-ethnic.html

‘Mr. Obama is 50% Caucasian, that from his mother. What those who want Mr. Obama to write history by becoming “America’s first African-American president” ignore is that his father was ethnically Arabic, with only 1 relative ethnically African Negro - a maternal great-grandparent (Sen. Obama’s great-great grandparent, thus the 6.25% ethnic contribution to the senator’s ethnic composition.).

That means that Mr. Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother’s side. He is 43.75% Arabic, and 6.25% African Negro from his father’s side.’

Normal American voters are expressing their doubts about Obama and his candidacy. Some feel that this is well past due.

Comment by Sarah2 | 2008-10-11 11:42:46

Mr. Villareal: What is the point you’re making? So what if Obama is of Arabic background rather than African. Who cares? He’s American. Born and raised here.

When I see my fellow conservatives spew this kind of racist nonsense, it upsets me — you’re only giving fuel for unwarranted charges that all conservatives are like this. Why don’t you keep your racism — form a fringe party or something, that’s where your paranoia politics belong.

Findings from the Bipartisan witchhunt commision.

I find that, although Walt Monegan’s refusal to fire Trooper Michael Wooten was not the sole reason he was fired by Gov. Sarah Palin, it was likely a contributing factor to his termination as a commissioner of public safety. In spite of that, Governor Palin’s firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper and lawful exercie of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads.

I read this link — and though it says as you posted above:

In spite of that, Governor Palin’s firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads.

The goofballs who commented on that link are celebrating as if Palin is going to be arrested!?

Seems to me only the Attorney General is in trouble, according to that report.

The MSM and trolls will fume over this non-story all weekend but that will be about all of it, except maybe further entrenching and inflaming the GOP, PUMAs and most important pushing the indy’s leaning to Mac/Palin to stay with them. The MSM/trolls are making a big mistake smearing Palin. They never learn.

Comment by Jeremiah God Damn Barack Amerikkka Wright | 2008-10-10 22:02:59

The goofballs are the paid obama blog trolls…what you didnt notice the same meme in message after message?

They are working overtime tonight.

What they are forgetting is that wanting a cop who beats his wife and tasers his stepson fired is not equivalant to hanging out with radical homegrown terrorists who bombed the capital and started your political career in their living room.

Comment by Galt, Master Thrall of Planet Triskelion | 2008-10-10 22:24:37

Yes and by attacking Palin they are giving Mac more than enough reason to come firing back even harder than before. And he will. Stupid Obama and his trolls.

Comment by JozefAL | 2008-10-11 00:38:00

You’d think that Obama’s staunchest supporters (the minorities in the inner city) would be most in favor of getting rid of an out-of-control cop (especially, a white one) no matter how it happened.
I mean, it’s not like there’s never been an incident in minority neighborhoods of innocent people being tasered by out-of-control law enforcement.

Comment by chris | 2008-10-10 21:31:41

I thought that Monegan was not fired, but offered another position which he decided not to take so he resigned. Is that not true?

Get it straight: Monegan quit

Story tools

Comments

I’m not sure why the media, legislators, Dan Fagan and Andrew Halcro all insist on referring to the event that led to Walt Monegan resigning as a firing. My recollection was that Monegan was offered a reassignment to another position but he refused the position and now everyone is stirred up.

Reading the paper through the winter, I read many stories that attested to the many problems within Bush communities. The fact that these problems have not been resolved through leadership from the top command suggests to me that new direction was necessary. Incentives, community liaisons and other measures are needed to establish community trust in law enforcement.

If I were a superintendent of a school district and a high school principal was not a good fit I would have no problem reassigning that person to another position where he might do a better job.

It is time to stop the inflammatory rhetoric by using the term … “The firing of Monegan.” He quit!

You know, the good people I knew up in Alaska probably find all this as further proof that all liberals are nothing but self-centered, self-serving, effete elitist nuts. And they’re using Alaskan tax dollars to advance all this trumped up crap to further, well, nothing but their own careers.

Wonder what the barky campaign has promised these wimps?

Comment by Diana | 2008-10-10 21:40:06

I look at it this way, I don’t care how they found, find in this trooper-gate mess. If someone had been doing their job to begin with there would have never been a trooper-gate. The man was caught drinking on patrol. He threatened to kill her father. He tasered his 10 year old step son, he should have gone to jail for that. Yet, where is he? Still being a trooper. That’s child abuse. He killed a moose because he was drunk and having fun on duty. What do you think would happen to one of us if we did this crap??

His butt should have been fired long ago. Someone threatened my father he better hope the police get to him before I do, and I don’t care if he is a cop. Someone tasered my nephew there would be hell to pay. She didn’t fire the commissioner she offered him another job. Both those men should have been fired the commissioner for not doing his job and the trooper. Or is it OK to violate the law if you don’t like who the governor is?

If she’d have ignored everything he did we’d be seeing headlines of special treatment given to trooper because he was her brother in law. She’s damned if she does, and damned if she don’t in this situation. She made the right decision, I’d have fired them both and the trooper would be in jail.

Comment by Goblintrain | 2008-10-11 12:09:27

Diana,

you are quite correct. To put it further into perspective, what if this were all reversed, & it came out that Michelle Obama had used Barack’s office to press for the dismissal of a crooked Illinois State Trooper? What would you think?

As much as i dislike & distrust the Obamas, i would have quipped a joke about Michelle being the man in the family, then said “You go girl!” She would have been doing the right thing.

I would also say, that is an Illinois state matter. Let them deal with it. To borrow an overworked phrase from Obama “Lets not inject presidential politics” into State affairs! :-)

Lets show Alaska the same respect!

Comment by joseyJ | 2008-10-10 21:42:02

There was a pic of the “committee” - comprised of admitted Obama supporters.
I figure - since the corporate owned media gave Obama a pass for 2 years and the Dems fixed the nomination for him - this report on Palin could be fixed as well.

Comment by think | 2008-10-11 02:45:53

The committee was 10 -4 Republicans. You can’t just make stuff up.

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-10-11 08:12:14

Remember, she ousted a lot of the insiders in her party.

I think the timing of the investigation was obviously political. Everyone knew how this would turn out. They timed the report release to damage her. Those oil-Republicans in Alaska like their corrupt ties.

Too bad. This also puts Democrats on the side of a guy who tasered his own kid.

Progressive? *jeesh*

Comment by LookingForwardTo2012 | 2008-10-11 08:35:43

Excellent observation:

The Democrats should take care not to make a big deal of this very biased report. Your comment provides the perfect response….and didn’t the guy also threaten physical harm to their Dad?

Comment by think | 2008-10-12 07:48:24

Wrong again - they actually brought the time of the report forward to reduce it’s impact, because it was due to come out just before the GE. And that date was set before Palin was nominated.

Comment by Jeremiah God Damn Barack Amerikkka Wright | 2008-10-10 20:28:59

Its ok for a police officer to drink on the job and taser his step son and threaten the life of the governors father.

However Its not OK for you to complain about it because if the guy you fire for not doing his job in running his office as you want him to asside from the police officer issue, asside from the fact he serves at your discretion, means you abused power according to the partisan Democrats on the commision that want to look into it for political gain…

On the other hand,

Its ok to blow up government structures and kill police officers

but its not ok for you to question the judgement of the guy who pals around with bill ayers and wants to be president.

Talk about hypocrisy of the democrats…oh wait thats not hypocrisy…thats the same standard.

Welcome to the DemoKratic party and the Politics of smear and intimidation.

Comment by NoBama | 2008-10-10 20:35:48

The unanimous vote shows that there was nothing but politics here. Alaska is such a blue state, it’s obviously a democratic smear with corrupt republican help.

Comment by think | 2008-10-11 01:42:54

Comment by Jeremiah God Damn Barack Amerikkka Wright | 2008-10-11 08:55:44

Comment by Lis | 2008-10-10 21:19:37

I guess it must be gettin close to the end of time because this world cannot be fixed with all the corruption going on today. We have a man running for president who is friends with a terrorist & sits in a church for twenty years where they teach white hate; yet he’s the hero to the media. We have a man who’s a police officer who gets drunk on the job & threatens to kill people; yet he’s still on the job & people who complain are found guilty of abusing their power. Being a hero now must require being the biggest crook, thief & liar.

Sarah Palin has an 80 to 90% approval rating in Alaska. She’s not getting impeached. My god, MSM doesn’t even try to hide their bias, even a little. The primaries emboldened them…like Obama…they must be stopped, by the people.

Comment by think | 2008-10-11 02:47:10

Actually the last poll was in the 60’s and it is dropping.

Comment by Dee | 2008-10-11 07:26:57

Think, it’s convenient that you left out the drop is primarily due to Democrats. Seems they don’t like their Republican governor now because she’s running against a Democrat.

Per The Anchorage Daily News 10/1/08

Ivan Moore, a local pollster, recently found that Palin’s support had slipped to 68 percent. The poll was conducted from Sept. 20 to 22 among 500 likely Alaska voters and has a margin of error of 4.4 percent.

Palin had done a good job of governing from the center, he said. But her recent mocking of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama, for example, is a surprise to many Alaskans.

Brad Coker, managing director of Mason-Dixon Polling & Research Inc., said an approval rating in the 60s for a governor is good.

She reminds me of the story about Harry Truman calling out the music critic who panned his daughter. The public thought Harry was right and so is Sarah Palin.

When he came down here when I was in the hospital those idiots left messages saying they hope I stayed in the hospital yada yada…

But anyway he agreed with me on two things…one this Palin shit reeks of hit job blown out of proportion. Especially considering she had no problem taking them on and being considered a outsider of the establishment.

The second thing was that Ayers contribution when they have stressed Ayers was just some guy in the neighborhood. Take in consideration the fact he made the contribution and the Obama campaign has lied, it says alot. 2001 is a year people will always think of only one thing. Despite the fact that they are not even remotely related, thats how people minds work.

Throw in domestic terrorist making contribution on __ __ date in 2001. All people will hear is “domestic terrorist and 2001″.

Larry, I am an avid reader on your site, but I am losing all hope in the election.
Will you ever follow up on the whitey tapes, or the explosive damaging information about barky that was supposed to stop his nomination the week before the convention?
After the McCain rally today, I am wondering about this whole election. McCain tells us we shouldn’t be afraid of a barky administration when just last week, he said barky was dangerous. What is going on? Barky being in the presidential race has already taken many of our rights and freedoms. We have been threatened at the voting booth, at the caucuses, we can’t voice our opinion or even tell pollsters who we prefer because of fear and intimidation. We can’t put signs on our cars for fear of vandalism, we can’t put up yard signs in many areas for fear of property damage. We are threatened with legal action if we speak out. There is no whitey tape and there are no explosive revelations. Please state what rights you have lost in this election. Which pollster has phoned and threatened you? What legal action have you been threatened with for speaking out? Aren’t you speaking out now? Is anyone threatening you?

The MSM is already spinning it. The headline in the AP article. Schuster over at MSNBC. It’s all a bunch of BS. I hope THAT ONE brings it up in the debate. If anything, it may really fire up the Mac.

Comment by Andrew | 2008-10-10 21:02:20

Not much to spin though. How can you spin this story? She fired tried to remove a chronic alcoholic and child abuser.

Comment by Jules | 2008-10-10 21:15:41

You can spin it by leaving out all the important facts…they’ll find a way.

Obama supporters LOVE child abusers, is that I have to take from this. CNN has already basically dropped this story, only BSNBC keeps on talking about it like its some big deal. Sarah had EVERY RIGHT to want this guy fired and he is not even fired, what gives with that, he is still an alaskan state trooper, allowed to carry a gun even though he threatened to kill her father, he tasered a 10 year old boy, and beat her sister. The media loves this because they don’t want to discuss Ayers, Wright, Resco, Odinga and especially ACORN, a group that now in PA they are saying they are not sure if they can even have an election now because of all the fraud they found, THAT is an issue, FRAUD, not some jackass trooper who put a gun to the head of the governor’s father and threatened to blow his brains out. That trooper is lucky I wasn’t the governor, I would have tasered his ass

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-10-11 08:17:28

That’s my thinking. If a governor had NOT done something about an officer so obviously out of line? Good gravy, since when do we back people who keep bad officers armed and raring to break laws?

Ridiculous. But it was always a ridiculous story. The drinking on duty alone should have gotten him fired.

In any case, the commission recommended no action. Surprise, surprise.

It’s a non-story that will be used to further sling mud. Nothing more.

Comment by soldier4hillary | 2008-10-10 21:01:26

There is a reason why I agree with my brother on this Ayers thing. A very big reason. Thinking something like troopergate is more important then terrorists and terrorism right now will have the dems dropping in the polls faster than the next excuse they make defending his Ayers actions. But then again, these people seem to think the dems will win NC. NC.

This is why I was so angry at Mc Cain today with his Obama is a decent man, on his own McCain site they are eating Palin alive now with the news of this ruling that she abused her power.

The media headline is she abused her power, every single one of them is attacking her now all with the slant she is not fit for office, but yet Mc Cain comes out to play nice to Obama because some supporters are calling for Obama;s head.

Now we must all sit here read this nonsense about Sarah, listen to even FOX getting into the act, knowing how well they all wanted this woman out of the race and stay quite because its the upstanding thing to do, play fair, play decent and lets all think of the right way to do things, while Obama and his supporters and sticking it to us in every turn.

Right McCain I get you, go tell them now its ok what they are doing to Sarah and she need not worry if Obama wins he is decent and he will take care of her…..geez

Comment by Sarracuda In So Cal | 2008-10-10 21:10:30

that’s cause as much as I respect John McCain for everything that he has done for our country, he is soft, and I am saying that as nicely as I can, he is a very good speaker but not a strong leader. he is folding, and basically having Sarah do all the dirty work for him. That is NOT a leader, man I wish that it had been Romney/Palin, they would have won in a freakin landslide, even with this horrible economy the way it is right now it wouldn’t have mattered cause Romney is NO Bush, how about Guiliani would have been a great choice to be President, and having Sarah as VP would have been a great combo. I think McCain is just too old, I saw him at that boring ass debate, he looked old and tired, he had so much energy the night before in New Mexico, I thought he had finally woken up, nope, not an ounce of fight in him, in fact, he looked worn out, and today, telling that guy that Obama is a decent guy, has Obama said ONCE that McCain is a good guy, has Obama ONCE told his messiah loving supporters to stop spreading HORRIBLE lies about Sarah and her family, nope, but yet Mccain can say that Obama is a good guy, everyone started booing in the crowd, did you all notice that, they started booing

Comment by Jules | 2008-10-10 21:35:18

As far as McCain telling the crowd Obama is a good guy, I think it was because he was afraid the crowd was getting out of hand. We are angry and rightfully so. He knows it. However, the campaign can’t specifically choose who comes to those events and they don’t know what the angry people might decide to blurt out. Those things are televised and it could reflect really badly on McCain.

I agree that Romney had his act together. He is a great speaker and a really sharp guy. For some reason, the rest of the folks did not agree with us. He outspent all the other Repubs in the primary and just couldn’t gain any ground. I didn’t understand it, but it is how it is.

As far as what McCain can do now, I want to see him not let Obama’s distortions of his (McCain’s) policies go unanswered. He needs to forcefully make his case. Obama has a bunch of lies on TV in my state. And I am still holding out hope that McCain seems “mild” because there is a landslide of crap coming down on Obama. Obama is so dirty that something is bound to bite him in the ass.

Comment by Deep Truths | 2008-10-10 22:40:20

I think Romney maybe a good guy but the problem with him was he smiles too much. He’s appears to be the Ken Doll. And he’s too…pansy in his speech. He comes across as a city slicker who’s trying very hard to a little country. So there is a heavy does of not being authentic.

Obama had such a head start in the brain washing campaign. There is a certain percent of people who’s brain is not logical but emotional. They go with their ‘halo’ feelings, even if they have doubts the majority of the time, one ‘halo’ feeling is enough for these empty vessel people.

McCain needs to overcome whatever doubts he had about telling the truth on Obama. The only reason not to go negative is if Obama whispered to him that he has America hostage with a nuclear bomb. Even then I would call his bluff.

Even if Obama has something personal on him, its not worthy taking a dive and let The Devil take the presidency.

Comment by countryfirst_obamanever | 2008-10-11 00:55:44

I hope that all supporters at the rallies have learned their lesson from asking questions like that. What was McCain supposed to say, “Yeah, he’s a terrorist. Yeah, you should be scared.” I mean, come on. We can’t act like the Obots. Ask McCain who started the economic mess we’re in. Ask about Obama’s association with ACORN.

Okay, that’s my rant.

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-10-11 08:19:35

I agree. I watched as Obama did nothing when his crowds booed Hillary.

Disgusting to let that immature behavior go on.

Comment by Annie Oakley | 2008-10-11 11:07:42

Exactly. First, I think it’s important to realize how easy it is to plant agitators in an audience. If McCain does what he thinks he needs to as a leader and tones the audience down HE ONLY DOES WHAT OBAMA NEVER DID.

I saw the Palin news on NWCN and they said she did nothing illegal and nothing unethical except by what she did not do: she should have stopped the actions of others. That was her only failing: that she should have stopped the acts of others.

I don’t know enough about the story to know what the commission referred to. I only ask that the same standard be applied to Obama. Did he ever speak out against the sexism and race baiting of his followers? Has he spoken out against the rank sexism against Palin? Has he lead the Democratic Party to be a better party? Has the Democratic Party spoken out? Or should both party and candidate be held ethically accountable for what they didn’t do, but should have?

Comment by lark | 2008-10-10 21:44:39

Right. And Obama has said that McCain is a good guy, but then immediately mocks him and derides his personality.

And I expect now for McCain to stop the stupidity of defending The Undefensible and go triple duty on the attack against this monster of a pathological liar.

One time is okay. You can try to fool some people once, but we are not going to be fooled by McCain or by any other politician trying to allow a Chicago derided politician take control of all the money in the country.

Comment by Deep Truths | 2008-10-10 22:43:29

Comment by tj | 2008-10-10 21:37:45

Not defending him, but looks are not always as they seem. I think he may be trying to keep everyone calm in light of the allegations this week. In some sense he may be trying to keep the peace and not start a riot. We know there are plants at the Mccain events. All it would take would be a few well placed threats and all he– breaks lose. People are time bombs right now. This is the only thing I can think of for his actions. He will be cautious then hit them where it hurts possibly late in the game.

Comment by lark | 2008-10-10 21:51:21

Its already late in the game. And what’s happening is that an irrational meme is growing that if McCain wins - as you say - we will have riots. Well, we are not going to be the ones starting them. Any one that starts a riots is a criminal. But just because the country is filled with criminals, that doesn’t mean that McCain should abdicate his right to win fair and square and without fear of voicing the truth being revealed.

Comment by tj | 2008-10-10 22:54:50

I totally agree. Unfortunatly only BO can safely say and do whatever he wants. Everyone else has to walk on egg shells. Mccain needs to play hardball and get mean. If Obama wants to play that way why is it not ok for the Mccain campaign to do the same. He needs to level the playing field and not try to make everyone happy. Beat BO at his own game!! Screw the clean campaign talk ! Its time to take no prisoners!!

I was going to download the report but since it’s 265 pages I changed my mind.
Instead I looked at some other articles on it.Oh Lord — the doublespeak is pathetic.

Although Palin’s firing of the Commissioner was (quote):

… a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads.

Apparently the report also said:

“The evidence supports the conclusion that governor Palin, at the least, engaged in ‘official action’ by her inaction, if not her active participation or assistance to her husband, to get trooper Wooten fired,” the report said.

“Governor Palin knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda, to wit: to get trooper Michael Wooten fired.”

“She had the authority and power to require Mr Palin to cease contacting subordinates, but she failed to act.”

Huh?

Firing the guy was lawful. However, she’s guilty of “inaction?”

Conflict of Interest: The Investigation of Governor Sarah Palin (Branchflower tight with Monegan
Vanity ^ | 091208 | McCain Nation

Posted on Friday, September 12, 2008 6:53:23 PM by Fred

According to documents on the Anchorage Municipal website, Troopergate investigator Stephen E. Branchflower’s wife, retired Detective Linda J. Branchflower, served as an officer and later as a detective in the Anchorage Police Department (APD) from about 1985 until December 2001. Linda Branchflower and Walter Monegan served together in the APD for almost the entire 16 years.

Walt Monegan joined the APD in 1974 and was promoted to APD Chief of Police in February 2001. He served as chief until his retirement around September 2006.

Anchorage Resolution No. AR 2001-364 indicated Detective Linda J. Branchflower was recognized for her almost 16 years of service in the APD by the Anchorage Assembly during the December 18th, 2001 regular session.

In his resume on ADN.com, Mr. Branchflower himself also enjoyed a close relationship with the APD, as a co-founder of the APD Homicide Response Team in 1985, and was commended for his work with the Homicide Response Team by the 16th Alaska Legislature in May 1989.

While the level of personal and professional relationships between Mr. and Mrs. Branchflower and Mr. Monegan has not been determined, the possible conflict of interest should be investigated before Mr. Branchflower continues with the Troopergate investigation of Governor Sarah Palin.

Comment by Jeremiah God Damn Barack Amerikkka Wright | 2008-10-10 21:24:43

Also look here at this

http://www.adn.com/monegan/story/482003.html

Branchflower has the experience to sift through the evidence and see if there is anything there, Elton said.

Branchflower asked for the job, along with several others, Elton said.

“I think everybody wants this to be done in a timely manner, including the governor,” Elton said in a phone interview Friday. “One of the reasons we are doing this isn’t to point a finger, it’s to blow a cloud away. And, the sooner you blow that cloud away, the better it is for the department, the governor and Alaskans.”

No they wanted her to restrain her husband. Well as a citizen her husband has a right to address the nature of his grievances - and what’s not better than to speak directly to the stakeholders in the matter.

Comment by mimi | 2008-10-10 21:11:22

This is a no-brainer for me and was from the beginning. Here are the basic facts:

This trooper physically abuses her sister, tasers her nephew, and threatens the life of her father.

This guy is lucky it wasn’t me. I’d be doing time.

But it galls me how Palin is being demonized while 0bama gets off scott free. This case is wrought with the kind of emotional intensity that elected officials rarely have to confront. She’s not accused of cronyism and most elected officials are guilty of this at some point in their careers. She hasn’t taken a bribe. She’s not in bed with a rich slum lord nor does she have ties to an unrepentant terrorist.

Sarah Palin is guilty of being in the position to be able to FIRE an abusive brother-in-law. A man who gets his jollies by beating women and tasering children and bullying old people.

I call bullshit on anyone who doesn’t get this. Especially these horseshit liberal feminists who would all kill to be in a position to enact retribution on this kind of serial male chauvanist abuser.

If she were a liberal Democrat, they’d be demanding the Pope to canonize her as a living saint.

Sure, elected officials should not abuse their power. It is ethically wrong. But if there ever was a situation ripe with ‘exception’, this is it!

But this is more a testament to the level of delusion among 0bama supporters, aka kool-aid. Sarah Palin intimidates them, they hate her and fear her. All they focus on is ‘abuse of power.’

Please don’t blow their kool-aid high with the very human details of this case.

Comment by Confused | 2008-10-10 21:19:03

Common sense and kool aid don’t mix.

Comment by mimi | 2008-10-10 21:23:58

One more thing:

The way the Botheads are carrying on so self-righteously about Troopergate, while ignoring the very human aspects of the situation reminds me of their attitudes during the Primary about the Florida and Michigan disenfranchisment.

I wanted to throw up every time one of them responded: “They broke the rules!” While carefully disregarding that South Carolina had also moved their Primary up.

That there isn’t an honest bone in the 0bama camp, a human voice that would even admit that, wow, “I don’t know if I’d have been able to restrain myself in a similar situation given the details of the case.”

But NOooooo… They are self-righteous and exacting.

Well keep throwing stones from your glass houses…

Please keep doing that……

If anything it shows that she was on the side of the people!

A corrupt cop abusing his wife and stepson.

Abusing his role as officer, drinkning and violating hunting laws and threatening people.

She went to the people who should have been responsible for taking care of it.

They chose not to and turned around after she pushed them to do whats right and tried to use it politically against them.

Thats why Sarah is fighting for you, to put government oback on the side of the people not corrupt politicians and cronies who don’t belong in position swhere they can harm others with their POOR JUDGEMENT!

I want them to say that Sarah has no ethics. That she abused her power, because she was human enough to realize, I’m the freakin governor. I want him stripped of his badge.

The man who refused to fire this bum given what he did as well as the troopers already sullied record was wrong!

Think how comforting it is for us civilians to know men like this can abuse their power with impugnity and still carry a gun and wear a badge.

It really gives you a lot of faith in law enforcement.

If Sarah had been a male governor, this trooper would have been history and I mean not just fired.

They wouldn’t have had to worry about firing him because he wouldn’t have been able to go back to work at anything but a desk job if he tasered my sisters son and beat my sister.

This is whats wrong with the far left…they think the rights of criminals supercede the rights of law abiding citizens.

Even with the worse Financial Crisis in our time, Obama has NOT closed the deal. McCain believes elections are won in the last 72 hours. He has something planned. Al Gore was 11 points ahead of W at this point, and we all know how close that was. Obama was 10 points ahead of Hillary in NH. I don’t believe these polls. I live in upstate NY and the majority of Democrats I know are voting for McCain. I’m sure our area won’t change NY, but this area is a good example of “Middle” America. I believe the same thing is going on in those swing states.

Comment by lark | 2008-10-10 22:01:07

Sarah Palin is the ONLY one with enough balls to come out and do what is right, she protected her family and did what had to be done to make sure this guy Wooten would not hurt a member of her family, she comes from a very close knit family, it is not her fault that her sister Molly married this nut job that wanted to kill her father. The more I hear about Sarah the more I wish she were the one on the top of the ticket. It’s about time John McCain showed the same kind of balls that Sarah has and come out fighting, where is the fight in this man, he spent 5 years in a prison camp and he doesn’t think his country is worth fighting for. It is no surprise this finding. The DNC has been frantic (a large portion of their funds going to Alaska to find SOMETHING, ANYTHING on Gov. Palin.) The MSM in the tank for Obama, hating Gov. Palin for who knows whAT reason.

Of course this is bigger news than:

(1) a potential President of the United States being indoctrinated by Jerimiah Wright in Black Liberation Theology which teaches racism to the worst degree.
(2) Obama’s association with a known AMERICAN terriorist who wishes he had done more.
(3) Obama’s training ACORN many years ago to go after voter registration any way available including FRAUD.
(4) Obama’s association with ACORN and their link to the sub-prime mortgages that have destroyed this economy.
(5) Obama’s association with Louis Farrakhan (sp) and the Nation of Islam
(6) Obama’s refusal to produce a legitimate birth certificate proving he is in compliance with the Constitution and eligible to be the POTUS.
(7) Obama’s obvious lack of KNOWING WHAT HE IS DOING. HE IS AN EMPTY SUIT.

Of course this fictious “Troopergate” is big news…the MSM has nothing else to talk about

You all gotta see this..you will be SHOCKED when you read what happened at an Obama rally in Dayton, Ohio

http://electivedecisions.wordpress.c…hing-of-palin/

Dayton, OH—In what could only called as hypocritical behavior by the mainstream media, crowds at the latest Obama rally have called for a lynching of Gov. Sarah Palin, John McCain’s Vice Presidential running mate.

The event occurred in Dayton during a stump speech by Sen. Barack Obama, D-IL. Obama blasted the McCain mortgage rescue plan as ‘idiotic.’ He claimed that banks wouldn’t take a loss, but taxpayers would take a loss, and that this was just another shifting position for McCain.

“This is the kind of erratic behavior we’ve been seeing out of Sen. McCain,” added Obama. I don’t think we can afford the kind of leadership that Senator McCain is offering. He is willing to screw you and grease the pockets of the white fat cats on Wall Street.”

Obama also urged voters of Dayton to see McCain’s character attacks on him in the context of McCain being a candidate who’s worried that he’s going to lose, and is merely using these desperate attacks to save his failing campaign.
“If one thing is clear,” urged Obama. “Senator McCain must be scared he’ll lose, because all he can do is personally attack me. All I can tell you is if you want to remain in your home, vote for me, and if you want an eviction notice, vote for Senator McCain.”

John and Julie Rondogovich, who were forced to move into John’s mother’s house because of McCain’s failure to act in time, appeared mesmerized as they cheered on Obama.

“Off with McCain’s head,” yelled John Rondogovich. “Off with his HEAD!”

“And if you think that vicious pit bull he has as a running mate, I mean Governor Palin, is looking out for your interest,” continued Obama, “then you’re sorely mistaken. The only thing she’s interested in is taking us back to the days of lynchings and segregation.”

“Lynch her,” yelled Thomas Zeller, a 37-year old black real estate agent from Dayton, OH. “I’ve seen up close what John McCain has done to people!”

“Lynch the cracker,” exclaimed Jerry Spitzer, a 42-year old black unemployed factory worker evicted from his home in Dayton.

“We’re not gonna let those two racists occupy the White House,” screamed Michelle Obama. “We’re not gonna go back to the days of blacks drinking from colored water fountains. Are we?”

“Hell no,” the fevered crowd spewed. “Lynch her!”

First of all, anybody who has ever been close to politics beyond observer knows that any executive branch cleans house when a new administration comess to town. These people Serve At The Pleasure. They are political jobs. A mayor can and usually does dump the whole staff. A governor generally does the same thing, as does a president. Department heads are political jobs.

Secondly she never told him to fire the guy and third…and MOST important….what kind of Public Safety commissioner would even WANT to retain a TROOPER who tasered his own kid?

Anybody?

This who thing is nonsense. There is no such thing as “Abuse of power” when an elected official gets rid of ANY department head. If I were governor, I could fire any department head without any reason whatsoever and it is NOT abuse of power since they are all patronage jobs.

Comment by Postmaster | 2008-10-11 09:09:20

this is my take, the people doing the investigation and subsequent report couldn’t find Sarah Palin guilty of pressuring anyone to fire her ex-brother in law, so instead they went after Todd. Todd said that Sarah told him to quit talking about it…..

So, can I conclude that in the future when there are allegations of police brutality, unlawful shootings by police, we all need to look the other way?

I for one will not turn on Palin because of this finding, I say, GO Sarah, do it again!

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-10-11 10:03:48

Oh, as soon as the election is over, they’ll even change on the ethics portion.

Sarah did tell Todd to stop. He didn’t. The probe is on Todd, not her, which is outside of their scope of authority. He’s a citizen, not a state employee.

She didn’t even violate ethics.

Comment by James (San Jose) | 2008-10-13 18:52:17

Um, no. Numerous executive jobs in the government are protected either by civil service laws or by tradition. B.B. (Before Bush) the staffing of the Justice Department was non-political and non ideological.

The whole reason for the investigation of Palin was to see if she acted improperly. This was well before anyone knew that McCain would tap her for the V.P. slot.

The executive branch does not get a pass to fire and hire willy-nilly in either Juno or in Washington D.C. There are rules, there are procedures, there are correct, legal ways of doing these things.

STATEMENT FROM MCCAIN/PALIN

“Today’s report shows that the Governor acted within her proper and lawful authority in the reassignment of Walt Monegan. The report also illustrates what we’ve known all along: this was a partisan led inquiry run by Obama supporters and the Palins were completely justified in their concern regarding Trooper Wooten given his violent and rogue behavior. Lacking evidence to support the original Monegan allegation, the Legislative Council seriously overreached, making a tortured argument to find fault without basis in law or fact. The Governor is looking forward to cooperating with the Personnel Board and continuing her conversation with the American people regarding the important issues facing the country.”

Gee I bet if Wootan goes and tazers another kid you will be cheering him on.

One has to love the stuff at the bottom of page 38, continuing onto page 39. It just illustrates how close to home Alaskan politics hit:

Monegan sends Palin a large picture of Mike Wooten and wants her to sign the picture and present it to the troopers at Police Memorial Day — the picture is to be reproduced and used as a morale poster for the troopers across the state.

KOPP: And it turned out to be Trooper Wooten. And Bailey said that — you know, he just remarked to me that this was the trooper that had been threatening to kill members of the governor’s family, you know, and now they’re wanting the governor to sign the picture.

I asked him if he had talked to Walt Monegan about it, and — and he said that — that they had, and that — that Walt had told him he had no idea what Trooper Wooten looked like, and that it was not an intentional act to upset the governor.

Bailey commented that it was incredible that the leadership of DPS would not know the appearance of an employee who had threatened the lives of the governor’s family.

It’s almost like Monegan wanted to be fired at this point! The only thing he could have done worse was to put Wooten on her security detail.

Comment by Tversky | 2008-10-10 23:12:46

Long time lurker, first time poster. :)

One thing that angers me is that media isn’t reporting the fact that this isn’t a he-said/she-said case with respect to Wooten’s conduct.

Wooten was found GUILTY of drinking while on duty and tasering his 10 year old stepson.
Here’s the official report finding:
http://media.adn.com/smedia/2008/07/21/16/Wooten_suspend_letter.source.prod_affiliate.7.pdf

These aren’t allegations. They are FACTS. How that jackass of a prosecutor could blithely scoff at the idea that Wooten was a rogue cop is beyond me. Read the report and you’ll see Wooten has a long history of showing poor judgment and bad conduct.

RE: Whether McCain is a wimp.
McCain isn’t a wimp. He’s shown more bravery both in and out of public life than almost anyone else in the Senate. However, I think he suffers from the same disease alot of Democrats suffer from: That is, he’s easily shamed by charges that he’s being racist or intolerant. (Republicans generally are so used to being called that they are immune. lol.) Moreover, I think McCain really likes being liked by the press. He doesn’t give a rip when conservative Republicans are mad at him. But he feels bad when reporters do. Go figure.

Comment by James (San Jose) | 2008-10-13 19:26:12

Sorry he was not found “guilty” of anything hotshot. Good god you can even read the heading of the PDF. It is an administrative action, it is documentation of improper behavior of a law officer. It is not even a civil action never mind a criminal complaint.

This is a document supporting the suspension of the trooper. He was not charged with any crime thus he could not be found guilty of anything. Please note there is no mention of a field sobriety of the trooper or of charges of child abuse or neglect. The theme here is poor judgment by the officer in question. The only law that was broken was in reference to a hunting permit (non-transferable) which at best is a misdemeanor.

The incidents were looked into and the trooper was suspended. He got kicked off his wildlife enforcement beat and had his weapons and cruiser pulled for 10 days. As the trooper was not an at-will employee that was that.

If Trooper Wooten was a rouge cop, then there are and were policies and procedures for getting rid of him. Those procedures are outlined in the collective bargaining agreements hammered out by by the Union and the state of Alaska. Sad to say the Trooper remains a protected employee, that is the agreement. Sara Palin was and is not allowed to foist her own ideas, notions or vendettas on the agreement.

That was the whole point of the investigation, to find out if she exceeded her authority. And the final answer was yes and no. Yes, she violated ethic laws but no she did not violate the hire/fire regulations totally.

Comment by Patience | 2008-10-10 23:49:38

I agree with those who think this story will work to her advantage — if people didn’t know the details before but now discover thae basis of the charges, Sarah will seem justified and common sensical. Anyone who doesn’t see through this charade is already an Obama zealot anyway.

And if the MSM try to maul her and her family again, behaving like the starving wolves they were when she was first tapped to be VP, people will rush to her defense as they did then. Look at our reaction right now! This will help rally the troops. It may even swing some more women voters her way.

BTW, I don’t know the particulars, but regarding McCain saying something nice about Obama today, I think he’s prudently being very careful not to inflame racial tension, which is increasing. This is another thing we can thank Obama and his hypocritical campaign for — he’s set back race relations DECADES.

I live in a small rural community. We only have one cop. He stole a puupy from a five year old girl. There has been a real ruckass about it. The whole town is in an uproar over that puppy and it is really a hilarious story, but my point is about the seriousness of the crime. Everyone in town is madder than hell and wants his ass fired. Granted stealing puppies from little girls is really, really chickenshit and Victor the dognapper will most likely get fired real soon. BUT…

Some of those same people think it is unreasonable for Palin to want a trooper fired who used a state issued weapon to assault a 10 year old. You know what? Tasering a child is way the hell worse than stealing a puppy. The bastard does need fired and the fact that the little boy is the governor’s nephew does not make it okay to abuse him.

I am pretty fucking tired of Obama supporters acting like it is okay to taser little kids. Democrats are approving of and applauding child abuse now??? Shame on them all. I’ve been married to an abuser and I’ll guarandamntee he’s done more than that. The only reason he got caught is because he did it in front of the governor’s daughter and she told on him. No one even gives a shit that this little boy was abused and it was wrong.

Besides abuse that bastard is guilty of misuse of government property. State employees get fired for that. It is the same as if I took my monitor and whomped my brother in the head. I would get canned.

Police answer to a different standard than average citizens.

Have you not watched the bajillion movies about cop corruption?

When a cop does somethign wrong its investigated internally first and every effort is made to save his job because of union laws and prevent any damage to the police departments reputation because they are the ones who are supposed to protect us.

Its very rare that a cop pays the same price that you and i would.

The fact that he didnt get fired for what you and i would be canned for is not surprising.

The fact that Democrats who are supposed to be the party that defends children women rights and the poluous from corrupt cops would side in this way on this issue is just another indication that there is no Democratic party anymore, just a bunch of nutty Obamacrats looking forward to Dear Leaders New World Order.

What would be the point in reporting such a mean, vile, corrupt police officer? According to the ‘verdict’ handed down today in Palin’s case - any and all police officers, apparently, are within their ‘rights’ to taser kids and drink on the job.

Is this not a case about ‘police brutality’ where the public complains SO much about???? Yet, THIS guy goes free and the person who tries to stop the brutality is SHUT UP!

This lame story is utter nonsense.
The MSM can have a field day with it and ignore the facts that Palin did not break the law.
So is the radical Left going to be on the side of a state trooper that abused a 10 year old and battered a woman, threatened a family and was drunk on duty?
The Washington Times had a top story yesterday that also confirmed Obama tried interfere with troop deployment while he visited Iraq in July and yet , once again this fell on deaf ears to the networks.
Ask yourself , who is the more dangerous candidate?

This just blows my mind that Obama would try to use this after he’s already perceived as being unfriendly to women for not putting Hillary on the ticket (not that a lot of us wanted her to accept, but we know this is true). Now, they want to side with a redneck trooper who abused his wife and child, drank on duty and threatened to kills a man. Even if you don’t agree with Palin’s ideology, I would think that Obama would have come out and said, “That’s not an issue. It’s a family and state issue, and if a child was harmed, then the trooper deserved to be fired.” Instead, Obama chose to make a political issue out of it and that’s troubling.

At lot of us have posted similar comments on here. I plan to email these comments to all the news media this weekend with a subject line, “Does Obama Hate Women?” My mother-in-law started this last night and I think it’s a good idea. It shows that people can perceive things in different ways.

The report is about what I expected. The evidence that she even violated ethics laws is pretty weak, from what I’m seeing so far. For sure, she was not out of bounds in firing the head of the state police. He’s saying it vindicates him. In fact, the opposite is true.

The campaign did damage control, and I’m confident that people who can’t stand her will make a big fuss. Most normal voters will know that this was politically motivated in the timing of the report.

Much ado about nothing.

Comment by Jeremiah God Damn Barack Amerikkka Wright | 2008-10-11 09:25:24

The liberal pushback will be…well….there is no evidence that the child actually has any rights. If Palin hadn’t prevented her sister from getting a late term abortion there would have been no child to tazer…so clearly this was a set up of that poor law enforcement officer.

I think John McCain needs to call a press conference and give his side of Palin efforts to protect her family, and then make an appeal to women , about women’s issues.

This goes to the HEART of DOMESTIC VIOLENCE…Palin and her husband were trying to assure safety for this battered woman…there are centers all across the United States that treat these women…

It is a total disconnect that the MSM is making Palin the bad gal…look at this for what it is…trying to keep your family safe.

The trooper and the supervisor both have put women in the hospital with beatings,.and the women can document it.

Comment by Joe McCarthy | 2008-10-11 10:00:29

Comment by James (San Jose) | 2008-10-13 19:36:32

No, she stands accused of violating an ethics law big difference. Please note “accused of” only the legislature of Alaska can actually impeach and or convict her of said charges. But she is accused of breaking a real law on the books in Alaska. Right now she is an unindicted alleged perpetrator of a crime; not exactly a great bullet for the resume of someone who aspires to become the Vice President of the United States.

Hollis French is an unethical weasel and Obama partisan, and Branchflower is clearly either full of shit or incompetent. His argument is that as long as she had ANY personal gain, financial or otherwise, she had to stop her husband from speaking up. So it doesn’t matter if it was also in the public’s best interest, as it clearly would be to get rid of a trooper that tasers children, drinks in his patrol car, violates law (hunting violation), uses racial slurs, cheats on his wife, and allegedly beats his wife and threatened to kill his father in law.
However, the MOST unethical party in all of this is the Alaska State Troopers. They concluded Wooten was GUILTY. Yes, that’s right GUILTY of tasering a 10 year old and drinking in his patrol car. But all they did was suspend him for 10 days. (Reduced to 5 on appeal from the union). Moreover, if you read the conclusion of the review into Wooten’s behavior: http://media.adn.com/smedia/2008/07/21/16/Wooten_suspend_letter.source.prod_affiliate.7.pdf he has a HISTORY of bad judgment and poor behavior. The Alaska State Troopers KNEW this guy was a disgrace and likely a future lawsuit in the making but allowed him to continue on the job! Frankly, I can’t see how ANYONE but a pure partisan hack Obamanut, blooming idiot or naive fool that still trusts Obama’s Pravda media could come to the conclusion that Palin did ANYTHIHNG wrong. I think we should post that report all over the place. It’s PROOF that this guy was a rogue cop and Palin had MORE than just a personal reason to see him off the force. The guy is a menace to the public. We should be celebrating her, not condemning her.

Comment by James (San Jose) | 2008-10-13 19:40:54

I thought this was a democratic site that supported the DEMOCRAT H. R. Clinton for president. It has now turned into a bitter hate filled racist rant against the man who will in all likelyhood become the next president of the united states.

You people have clearly lost what little bit of judgement and perspective you once had.

Jeremiah? You sound like a bitter redneck old George Wallace supporter angry at the world because “those people” are going to win and you can’t stand it. You not only sound deranged you sound a little bit dangerous. I pitty you.

Here is a news flash for you bitter people. Sen. Obama has a commanding lead in this election and will likely win in a landslide.

He will win because the people in this country have watched the current republican admin. and their enabliers in the Senate for the last 8 years lurch from one screw up to another. I swear to God, if you set out to screw this country from day one you couldn’t f*** it up any worse than these hosers did.

He will win because he is smart and gets it better than almost any other pol. does and he and his staff play the political game better than the others do.

So cont. your bitter rants and silly paranoid complaints. You can cont. them all through the next 4 years but you will ALL be marginalized and forgotten.

And the rest of us will begin to clean up this mess that has been created.

bye loosers.

Here’s a clue honey, many of feel our COUNTRY’S best interest trumps our political party’s interest. That’s why many of us reject a Demcoratic Party led by partisan hacks and liars like Obama, Pelosi, Brazille, Reid and Dean. Electing a wildly inexperienced narcissist product of the Chicago machine with no record of achievement, foolish and dangerous ideas about foreign policy, an idiotic wealth redistribution based economic policy, a history of shady Anti-American associations, a history of lying and obfuscating whenever questioned about those assocations is NOT in our country’s best interest.
Actually the real loser will be the American people if and when your Messiah gets elected.

Just think this is the woman that would have her finger on the nuclear button if (when) McCain is no longer able to preside over the office of the president. Frankly that scares the s*it out of me.

I think it scares me more that the Democrats are backing a guy who tasered his own child and THEY will be in charge.

That guy the “trooper” that tazzered the 10 year old, threatened to put a bullet into the Governors Fathers mouth and said and did all kinds of horrible things to his x wife and the Governors family.

Governor Palin and Todd Palin couldn’t have done more to try and protect themeselves and the State of Alaska from that no good “trooper” and Trooper Wooten was and is a complete slimeball for not standing up and doing the right thing for his department and the State. He should have been fired not only for insubordination against the Governor but she could have fired the slaimball “trooper” that took the road to the bottom of the barrel but she didn’t she followed the law.

It is Wooten who is the looser in all of this and the media for slanting the news. Shame on the people who are using this as a political gotcha when there isn’t one.

The vital conclusion from the report is the fact that inaction/inattention by Gov Palin allowed her husband to in effect use her office to pursue personal aims.

Will Vice President Palin allow her husband to utilize her office/power to pursue personal aims?

Que lastima!

Larry,

Man, have you gone off the deep end this time. You have taken a skimpy tissue of claims and conflated them into a non-stop screed.

Trooper Wooten may not be on anyone’s short list for peace officer of the year but your over-the-top accusations have no basis in reality.

But here is the rub Larry even if true they do not justify Palin’s actions. She was told to stop hounding the Public Safety Officer about the issue. She was warned in no uncertain terms that she was over the line in her advocacy. She was told to cool it. Despite the warnings she continued her Vendetta against Trooper Wooten. And by the way Larry she lied about her actions.

In previous interviews she claimed her intervention was minimal and she was never warned about her actions. In both cases she out-and-out lied. And by the way Larry John Sidney McCain knew about her Trooper trouble and nominated her anyway.

I do wonder though, how in your twisted weird little universe a woman who has been threatened by a rouge cop then defends her family by cutting her protective services. If you had someone gunning for your ass wouldn’t hire up some extra protection?

As a man who was way out in front on Bush lawlessness viz Valarie Plame why are you defending similar lawlessness by the Governor of Alaska? Larry, there are policies and procedures for getting rid of rouge cops. Granted these procedures are seriously flawed, police are far too willing to close ranks around bad actors in blue. Be that as it may the executive branch can not be allowed to wright up the rules by fiat.

You personally saw what happened to a dear friend and colleague what happens when the executive branch goes all out to ruin / fire / destroy someone they did not like. The first act was to smear. Odd that you, who have seen the deleterious effects of smearing on Ms. Plain would be so gung-ho to carry the slop-bucket on trooper Wooten. You have poured no end of offal on the officer in question. You have repeated the most scurrilous of lies and distorted what few facts lay on the ground until they bear no resemblance to what happened.

Trooper Wooten may not be a prince among men, he may even be a below-par officer. In 2006 he was documented as being worthy of suspension but that is long, long, long way away from being a threat to the safety of Ms Palin, Mr Palin or even his estranged wife. Palin’s obsession with him was way over the line and not justified in any sane consideration of a Governors prerogatives. In short she was found to abused her position as an executive.

Now who else abused their position as an executive? Who else became irrationally engrossed in the actions of a minor official of the government, this time federal? Who dumped a vast array of scantily sourced “facts” on that official’s head? That would be G.W. Bush and his victim would be your good friend Ms. Plame. The thing is in W and Cheney’s warped little mind they too were justified going after Ms Wilson. They also believed that Ms. Plame was a bad actor. They also went way beyond channels to rid themselves of someone they held a grudge against. The difference is that back then Larry Johnson called Bush/Cheney out on the wretched excess of the political vendetta; now Larry Johnson tries to defend the wretched excess of yet another political vendetta. God, how the mighty have fallen.

Oh and by the way where are the Whitey Tapes hotshot? Mid October, McCain is dieing the death of a thousand cuts due to the economy, not even your bloviating on Ayres is getting any traction, Palin has gone from a net positive of 20 points to a net negative of 20 points; now would be a good time don’t you think? Come on Larry, Saxby Chambliss in Mississippi is neck and neck with the Democratic challenger. Think about it, the Mississippi Senate Race is now a toss up, an easy Republican win is now a death struggle, the GOP needs that tape out; yesterday. Any one? Any one? Larry? Bueller? Any one, where is the Whitey tape? Oh I know, it was pilfered by Trooper Wooten, on order of Luis Farrakhan and Reverend Wright who stashed in a undisclosed location owned by Fanny Mae and guarded by Arab terrorists and ACORN staffers; yea that’s it! Yea, that’s the ticket!
