I finally could watch the entire debate.

McCain did absolutely terrific.

He really drew out the true difference.

I think a lot of people will be thinking about this today.

Mom said Mack looked like an eagle ready to attack.

She said it was a bit scary.

I thought he looked like he was about to open up a can of whoop ass and changed his mind or never found the opportune moment.

Eagle was a good observation though! Don’t cha think?

Comment by Galt, Master Thrall of Planet Triskelion | 2008-10-16 13:20:42

I don’t think he changed his mind. I think he brought it right to the line he wanted to. Mac expressed the concern I am sure many indy’s have who are leaning to him. He did not want to pus too hard. Others have pointed out and I agree that Mac was appealing to PUMAs and indy’s last night. And he did fabulously!

Turns out that Joe Wurzelbacher from the Toledo event is a close relative of Robert Wurzelbacher of Milford, Ohio. Who’s Robert Wurzelbacher? Only Charles Keating’s son-in-law and the former senior vice president of American Continental, the parent company of the infamous Lincoln Savings and Loan. The now retired elder Wurzelbacher is also a major contributor to Republican causes giving well over $10,000 in the last few years.

When did everyone at this site start wearing tinfoil hats?

So, I get it–guilt by association is not something we can attribute to the Messiah, but we can to McCain voters.

I’ll have to see the links between these connections you talk about. Give me the details. Etc.

I have people in my huge family I don’t agree with. I am a registered Democrat, but I am voting McCain. So does my posting here discount my opinion?

I am confused by your reference to a tinfoil hat. Are we the alter egos of the tin man in Oz? Would that make you the alter egos of the Scarecrow–you know, the one without a brain?

I’m tired of the shaming/slamming approach.

I turned it off after 15 seconds.

Barney Frank could be corrupt, misinformed, and just not that bright. I don’t know.

If there’s evidence that it’s corruption, I think it will come to the surface. It may just be the guy is dumb. (That’s my impression, btw…..he’s a blow-hard and not all that bright.)

But…I think I’m done with this season’s nasty videos/tee-shirts/commentaries ala Dowd.

McCain never laid a glove on the simpering smirker.

McCain Blew It.
I am a rock-ribbed partisan hack - a life-long Regular Democratic Ward Thunderclapper. I am unshakeable in my long, costly and loyal support of John McCain - the Best Man in the Race.

He blew it. He allowed Obama to smirk and simper. He allowed Obama’s doctrinaire nuanced parsing for Neo-Marxism to go unchallenged and unanswered.

As one who takes the weather personally - I am more than a little Put Off.

I voted for John McCain - early here in Chicago.

May God and my faith in the American People save us from the Class Warfare to come. By 2010 with Obama as President and the DNC controlling the Congress - the American Dream will not fit into a single REM cycle.

Did anyone watch the Senate Banking and Finance Committee meeting this morning-I saw bits & pieces of it on C Span.

Dodd was talking about how happy he was that Banking and Finance Committee is looking into the financial crisis and its causes. He spent about 10 minutes talking about how Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae were victims and how many in Congress (including himself and other Dems) knew that more regulation was necessary but the (privately -owned) Federal Reserve Screwed up and let private lenders rip off the consumer.

Of course I am paraphrasing above…but then Dodd stated how he was looking forward to what this bi-partisan ‘I N Q U I R Y” would expose about what caused this financial crisis and how to avoid it in future.

Hmmm…seems to me Dodd already told the committee what its conclusion should be- PROTECT THOSE IN CONGRESS WHO HELPED TO CAUSE THIS MESS.

I wondered why so many Democrats loyal to Sen Clinton tossed their support for her aside & ran with Sen Obama.

Just speculating here- but after what I saw on C Span this morning- I wouldnt be surprised to learn that Sen Obama may have offered these ‘legislators who blindly supported minimal or NO REGULATION over Mortgage Industry- IMMUNITY FROM POSSIBLE FUTURE INVESTIGATION OR PROSECUTION. (Heck…he supported the telecom companies with his FISA position so anything is up for grabs)

These guys are scared to death as to what can of worms Sen McCain may open up in this (or any) financial meltdown investigation.

Sen Dodd appears to be in a rush to close this investigation up pretty quick…why?

DOES ANYONE HAVE A LINK TO THIS HEARING THAT TOOK PLACE THIS MORNING AND WAS COVERED BY CSPAN?

Watch the first 10 minutes of the hearing…UNBELIEVABLE- Sen Dodd appears to be running scared.

http://www.washtimes.com/news/2008/sep/23/an-electoral-college-doomsday/

AN ELECTORAL COLLEGE DOOMSDAY?

On Nov. 5, the presidential election winds up in a electoral-college tie, 269-269, the Democrat-controlled House picks Sen. Barack Obama as president, but the Senate, with former Democrat Joe Lieberman voting with Republicans, deadlocks at 50-50, so Vice President Dick Cheney steps in to break the tie to make Republican Sarah Palin his successor.
“Wow,” said longtime presidential historian Stephen Hess. “Wow, that would be amazing, wouldn’t it?”
“If this scenario ever happened, it would be like a scene from the movie ‘Scream’ for Democrats,” said Democratic strategist Mary Anne Marsh. “The only thing worse for the Democrats than losing the White House, again, when it had the best chance to win in a generation, but to do so at the hands of Cheney and Lieberman. That would be cruel.”
Sound impossible? It’s not. There are at least a half-dozen plausible ways the election can end in a tie, and at least one very plausible possibility - giving each candidate the states in which they now lead in the polls, only New Hampshire - which went Republican in 2000 and Democratic in 2004, each time by just 1.5 percent - needs to swap to the Republican column to wind up with a 269-269 tie.
There are currently 10 tossup states, according to RealClearPol-itics.com, which keeps a running average of all state polls. If Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain wins Ohio, Virginia, New Hampshire and Indiana - not at all far-fetched - and Mr. Obama takes reliably Democratic states Pennsylvania and Michigan, and flips Colorado (in which he holds a slight poll lead), with the two splitting New Mexico and Nevada, the electoral vote would be tied at 269.
Absurd? Possibly, and there is not complete agreement among constitutional experts on whether a newly elected Congress or the currently sitting House and Senate would make the decision.
So try this scenario: The newly elected House, seated in January, is unable to muster a majority to choose a president after a 269-269 tie, but the Senate, which is expected to be controlled by Democrats, picks Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. from the Democratic ticket. If the House is still deadlocked at noon on Inauguration Day, Jan. 20, Mr. Biden becomes acting president.
Or try this one on for size: Neither the House nor the Senate fulfills its constitutional duty to select the president and the vice president by Jan. 20, so House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, becomes acting president until the whole mess is sorted out.
“That would cause all kinds of lawsuits: We would have 50 Floridas, and we might not know who the president is for two years,” said Judith Best, a political science and Electoral College specialist at the State University of New York in Cortland.
The archaic system in the Constitution was set up in the days of oil lamps and horse-drawn carriages. After the presidential vote on the first Tuesday in November, electors have until the Monday after the second Wednesday in December, this year Dec. 15, to reach the state capital, where they cast their ballots for president.
But despite the delicious possibility that Mr. Cheney would break a Senate tie to create a Obama-Palin White House, several other constitutional scholars say, forget the Constitution. They say the operative - and decisive - verbiage was set out in U.S. Code Title 3, Chapter 1, Section 15, in 1934.
“Congress shall be in session on the sixth day of January succeeding every meeting of the electors. The Senate and House of Representatives shall meet in the Hall of the House of Representatives at the hour of 1 o’clock in the afternoon on that day,” the section says.
That, they say, means the new Congress would decide the president and vice president in the event of an Electoral College tie. Here’s where things get dicey, though. Back to the Constitution, the 12th Amendment: ” … in choosing the president, the votes shall be taken by states, the representation from each state having one vote.” That means that a state’s entire House delegation gets just one vote each - California, with 53 House members, would get one vote; Alaska, with its one representative, would get one vote.
Florida, for instance, has 16 Republicans and nine Democrats. That means the delegation would (almost certainly) vote 16-9 for Mr. McCain, while Colorado, with four Democrats and three Republicans, would vote 4-3 for Mr. Obama.
In the current House, Mr. Obama would win - 27 delegations have a majority of Democrats, 21 have a majority of Republicans, and two states, Kansas and Mr. McCain’s home state of Arizona, are evenly split.
But those numbers will change Nov. 4, and Paul Sracic, associate professor in the department of political science Youngstown State University in Ohio, said they could change dramatically. Of the 27 state congressional delegations with a majority of Democrats, 25 of them would switch to deadlocked or Republican control if two or more seats change to Republican.
At least 26 state delegations in the House must agree before the next president can be chosen. But even if Democrats maintain a majority, there would be pressure on Democratic delegations to vote Republican in states where voters chose Mr. McCain.
It took 36 ballots in the House to select Thomas Jefferson as the third president after the 1800 election ended in a 73-73 tie. There was so much animosity after that election that Aaron Burr, elected vice president, faced off in a duel with Alexander Hamilton, who had thrown his support behind Jefferson. Burr shot Hamilton dead in a duel.
The number of electors, 538, is equal to the number of senators - 100 - and representatives - 435 - in the Congress, plus the three electors added in 1961 when the 23rd Amendment gave the District a say in U.S. presidential elections. Thus, there have been 10 presidential elections in which a 269-269 tie was possibly, but it has never occurred.
“The probability of a tie in 2008 is about 1.5 percent, which is slightly higher than we calculated at about the same time back in 2004,” said Mr. Sracic, who enlisted the help of the university’s math department to come up with a possible 1,024 combinations with the current 10 states now considered tossups.
“What really strikes you is how easy it would be for a tie to occur. Take the 2004 map and switch Iowa, New Mexico and Colorado into the Blue column, which is what the poll numbers indicate. Then, take New Hampshire and give it to McCain, which is what two recent polls suggest is going to happen. There is your tie.”

Tzada-thanks for this link.

The Washington Times author makes one assumption which should NOT be made.

Author FAILED to discuss the possibility of any “FAITHLESS ELECTORS” in this campaign.

Please read the following.

A Faithless elector is free to choose ANY candidate he/she wishes to support.

Elector is not legally tied down to voting for the candidate they were ‘promised to’ when they took on the job of being an elector.(I think there are 1 or 2 states with exception here)

In the event of a 269/269 tie(based upon populaar votes) …then there is nothing-to the best of my knowledge-to stop one of the 269 electors assigned to McCain-to cross over and change their mind at the last moment and vote for Obama.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/US_Electoral_College

EXCERPT

“Rather than directly voting for the President and Vice President, United States citizens cast votes for electors.

Electors are

technically free to vote for

anyone

eligible to be President, but in practice pledge to vote for specific candidates[2] and voters cast ballots for favored presidential and vice presidential candidates by voting for correspondingly pledged electors.

[3] Most states allow voters to choose between statewide slates of electors pledged to vote for the presidential and vice presidential tickets of various parties; the ticket that receives the most votes statewide ‘wins’ all of the votes cast by electors from that state. U.S. presidential campaigns concentrate on winning the popular vote in a combination of states that choose a majority of the electors, rather than campaigning to win the most votes nationally.

If I were the Republican party leaders- I would make sure that all republican electors were protected from any undue influence (blackmail, threats, bribes) from Obama campaign.

I would review the list of Republican electors too (while making sure that the civil rights -of electors are not violated) just to make sure there are no ‘hidden’ wolves in sheeps clothing (ie Obama plants) in the pool of Republican party-pledged electors.

Why do I say this? Because we are dealing with Sen Obama and David Axelrod and MANY MANY others who would-in my opinion- have no boundaries as to how low they could go to win this election.

This is classic Chicago style politics to pull off such a thing at the last moment.

And…if anyone thinks that IF such a scenario arises where the legality of certain election-related activities are questioned AFTER …AFTER an election has taken place- I say-let the past be your guide as to how the situation will be handled.

Ask John Kerry & John Edwards.Ask Al Gore.

Good news for Mac? Canada reelected a conservative Prime Minister. Maybe the US follows suit and elects Mac? Might be a stretch what I am suggesting but maybe not! My point is during tough times Canada did not swing left. What do you think?

This sounds like what a president Mac would do:

Newly reelected Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper will meet other world leaders and put Parliament back to work quickly to hammer out ways to weather the credit crisis and keep the country’s economy competitive, he said on Wednesday.

MG PUMA, What do you think is causing the judge to take so long to respond to these filings? The way its going now, we may have an ineligible president leading our country months before any action, if any, is taken.I understand, Berg has stated he will take this all the way to the Supreme Court. Afterall, this is about our constitution.

Comment by MG - PUMA | 2008-10-16 12:11:50

Simple: the Judge doesn’t want to make a decision.
Most judges love to be able to adjudicate and tell people what to do. So this is my view.

That the judge doesn’t want to make a decision to *at least* order Discovery is obscene. If the Constitution fails on this case the whole thing goes since ALL of the Constitution will be up for dismantling. Then, Judges will be out of a job, unless, under Obama, civil law (whatever is relative at the moment and depends upon the whim of the judge - every case is different), as in Europe will be governing law and not stare decisis with is based upon British common law dating back to the year 900 A.D.

In the debate last night, Obama made reference to doing just that (instituting civil law) when referencing a case involving a woman who filed her case PAST the date that the Statute of Limitations determined.

Could also be fear: judges have to go home just like you and I do. However, I’m not sure how much this plays into the present case, Berg v. Obama since federal judges are given security for certain cases, such as gang trials.

Time to change venue (location) inBerg v. Obama.

MG-PUMA

Comment by MG - PUMA | 2008-10-16 12:19:53

Wanted to add that maybe this Judge wants to institute civil law (as described above and which is governing law in Mexico, all of South America, France, Italy, etc).

Or, maybe Sharia law as in Islamic countries.

Maybe they don’t need to use it? Maybe its coming but won’t be until the last minute? Maybe the RNC and DNC negotiated not to release it? Maybe Larry was misinformed? I give him the benefit of the doubt otherwise. Contrary to what the Oborgbot trolls have been saying, I do not think at all Larry made up the story. He relayed information he was given. On fact, any trolls that accuse Larry of smearing Obama are smearing Larry. The trolls forget they have to be able to prove Larry willfully made something up. And there is no evidence he did anything like that.

Truth finally out?

According to Michelle Obama, the fix is already in
By Judi McLeod Wednesday, October 15, 2008

Like editors the world over used to admonish reporters at deadline: “Your lead is buried down copy”, the lead in African Press International’s (API’s) “Mrs. Obama decides enough is enough” comes well down copy:

“My husband and I know that there is no law that will stop him from becoming the president, just because some American white racists are bringing up the issue of my husband’s adoption by his step father.” (Emphasis added).

In other words, according to the overzealous, you’re-all-racists wife of candidate for presidency Barack Hussein Obama, the fix is already in.

The candidate’s wife treated the Norway-based API as if it was already under the command of a Barack and Michelle-run White House.

With an arrogance that can only be described as stunning, Michelle Obama said API would earn an invite to hubby’s upcoming inauguration ceremony when he will be installed as the next President of the United States of America next year, if only they wrote a “good” story.

In a good old fashioned hissy fit, Michelle Obama had picked up the phone to accuse API of colluding with American internet bloggers in an effort to bring down her husband, saying she had decided to call API because of what she termed, API’s help to spread rumours created by American bloggers and other racist media outlets in their efforts to damage a black man’s name. She made plain her hopes that the African Media was mature enough to be in the front to give unwavering support to her husband, a man Africans should identify themselves with.

“When API told her that our online news media was only replaying what the American Bloggers and other media outlets had discovered through their investigations, Mrs. Obama was angered and she came out loud with the following: “African Press International is supposed to support Africans and (the) African-American view, and she went (on) to state that, “It is strange that API has chosen to support the racists against my husband.” (africanpress, Oct. 15, 2008). “There is no shame in being adopted by a step father. All dirt has been thrown onto my husband’s face and yet he loves this country. My husband and I know that there is no law that will stop him from becoming the president, just because some American white racists are bringing up the issue of my husband’s adoption by his step father, The important thing here is where my husband’s heart is at the moment. I can tell the American people that my husband loves this country and his adoption has never changed his love for this country. He was born in Hawaii, yes, and that gives him all the right to be an American citizen even though he was adopted by a foreigner, (emphasis added) says Michelle Obama on telefon (sic) to API.”

The person on the other end of the telephone line indicated concern for “the American man Dr. Corsi, who was recently reported to have been arrested in Kenya because there was fear that he might reveal information on Obama when he wanted to hold a press conference in Nairobi.

“When API asked Mrs. Obama to comment on why Dr. Corsi was arrested by the Kenyan government and whether she thought Kenya’s Prime Minister Mr. Raila Odinga was involved in Dr. Corsi’s arrest, she got irritated and simply told API not to dig that which will support evil people who are out to stop her husband from getting the presidency.

“When asked who she was referring to as the evil people, she stated that she was not going to elaborate much on that but that many conservative white people and even some African Americans were against her husband, but that this group of blacks were simply doing so because of envy.

“On Farakhan and his ministry, Mrs. Obama told API that it was unfortunate that Mr. Farrakhan came out the way he did supporting her husband openly before the elections (sic) was over. That was not wholehearted support but one that was calculated to convince the American people that my husband will support the growth of Muslim faith if he became the president, adding ‘even if my husband was able to prove that he is not a Muslim, he will not be believed by those who have come out strongly to destroy his chances of being the next President. Do real people expect someone to deny a religion when 80 percent of his relatives are Muslims?’” Mrs. Obama asked.

Meanwhile, there is no doubt that without a single vote having been cast for her husband, that the Rush Limbaugh, Michelle Malkin-dubbed “Michelle, Ma Belle” is already off choosing her gown for his inauguration ball.

This country is really going down hill fast. It seems that the media is so preoccupied with getting Obama elected that they are willing to conceal the truth. Acorn is stealing the election for Obama. Ayer’s was involved with him and in all likelihood still is. This was an unrepentant terrorist. Rev Wright is an Anti-American these are people associated with. If Obama gets elected with control of a democratic congress we are going to be repentant. This country will fall in total control of the liberal left. No checks and balances. In my opinion many in the media should be arrested for treason to this country. The Obama campaign is crying racism, this is the way they avoid the truth. This is the same thing they did to Hillary, cry racism when someone spoke the truth and they had no answer. When is AMERICA going to wake up? When is the media going to report the truth? Obama is a fraud!!!.
