By extension, because the individual has more power at the lower levels of argument, the individual has a greater chance of sel-determination on these issues at the state and local levels of goverment. Therefore, conservative does equal individualist. The conservative justices don't want to make abortion illegal -- they want a greater control for the individual to determine these cultural issues in a diverse ad respectbale fashion for the many different cultural communities throught the nation. If you want to get rid of the culture wars, make the states have more power over these issues.
