Remember New Hampshire

Over at my place Partizane, we have a discussion going on the polls and the internal polls.  Here is my cross post on what I feel is happening.

Obama was in my town of 25,000 yesterday begging for our lousy 4 electoral votes.

Tonight he’s having another Springsteen fund raiser in NYC because he needs dough.

This thing is close and as BHO said today, “Remember New Hampshire”. This ain’t the Bradley effect scaring the crap out of team Obama, it’s the Palin effect, the NH effect, Hillary’s “Invisibles” effect. I honestly believe that David Axelrod is seeing his worse nightmare. A repeat of the surprise finish my state gave to Hillary.

The number of undecideds are twice as high as at this point in 2004 and that does not include the Invisibles. Those who rarely or never voted before, those who may be at the lower end of our society, those who for once in their lives have the chance to vote for someone who has had their baby, someone who has struggled with children and a career. A woman like them who speaks like them and quite frankly enjoys life like they do.

Those people are never ever polled. The waitress working 6 nights to feed her own 5 kids. The women who make your bed at the Holiday Inn then go home to make dinner for their laborer husband and cute batch of kids. That woman with the tattoos riding the Harley last weekend. The Vegas strippers I “interviewed” last fall before the primary, the ones who had all registered to vote for the first time in their lives so they could vote for a woman.

The Invisibles will be the force that says no more. No more abuse Mr. Obama because we’re voting for the woman who truly does feel our pain.

Sarah Palin will win this campaign with a huge double finger to the pollsters.

The Silent Majority will rise up and Kick Obama all the way back to Chicago.

“Tonight he’s having another Springsteen fund raiser in NYC because he needs dough..”

I can’t stand Ozero, but this is probably one of the least untrue statements out there right now.

Either that, or McCain thinks the best advertising strategy is to spend one-fourth what the other guy’s spending.

Comment by DAB | 2008-10-17 20:44:52

Here in Florida Obama is always “in our face” with constant commercials. Every commercial break of Wheel of Fortune features a rather prosaic, boring Obama piece etc. etc. and he’s even running stuff on The Food Channel for Pete’s sake! The overkill is annoying and I remember people in Pennsylvania complaining of being inundated with his commercials and how it was a turn off.

These guys just have no sense of what is appropriate. They are clearly overdoing it and hopefully this is what will kill them in the end.

You actually pay more attention to McCain’s commercials because they are less frequent and more interesting — but hey, that’s just me.

Comment by DAB | 2008-10-17 20:46:44

P.S. The Pennsylvania ads I refer to took place during the primaries and you know how well that one turned out for BO.

Comment by SWPAnnA | 2008-10-17 23:17:25

Those ads showed him in a members only jacket, posing in an abandoned steel mill lot overgrown and trashy. (It was probably a mill in Indiana because, in the ‘Burgh, those properties are now technology sites, medical centers and parks.)

Nobama is doing the same here in IL. Why when this state is supposed to be a given for him? I can’t take it another day! I am hearing “I’m Barack Obama and I approve this message.” in my sleep!

aaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhh make it stop!

I live in IL and I found that strange too. Why is Obama spending money in IL?

To be honest, I have never voted in my life. This time I am. I doubt He will lose IL but I’m curious how many people here in IL have registered so they can vote against Obama.

The big boys put a contract out on capitol hill.
Well here’s the deal. Why don’t you all just go home!
We’ll take over. We won’t write no bills
There’ll be no more debates under the capitol dome

Hail, hail to the mob
Hail, hail to the mob – We’re going to get it right

Hail, hail to the mob – No more parlimentary gobligook
Hail, hail to the mob – Huh – ugh, sweetie

Welfare – food stamps – public housing – school lunch
End it all! They’re eating with the Governor tonight
Street gangs – all that bunch
Ever hear what happens when you scam a mobster’s wife

Hail, hail to the mob – You’ll be pushing up daisies
Hail, hail to the mob – No appeal
Hail, hail to the mob – No time off
Hail, hail to the mob

The immigration policy is hereby set.
Everyone pay rent to the Indians.
We’ll abolish all taxes – Step right up and place your bet
And to put an end to racism we’ll paint everybody green

Comment by Steve_in_KC | 2008-10-17 20:50:11

As regards the infamous “whitey tape” or the new version, the API tape of MO, I guess there is something sinister in some of us, in that we hope for validation of our beliefs that the O’s are closet racists, nurtured in the church of Jeremiah Wright. We know we are right, but people won’t believe us, so something like this would seem to prove we are right. But it’s a cheap and ugly way to get there.

Even if people believe it when they see it, and many won’t believe it in this era of special effects, it will exacerbate the very real and ugly racism that still paralyzes America. There is talk of race riots if BO loses, and maybe even if he wins. I actually fear the possibility of”entitlement riots” more than I fear the “revenge riots.” Even though the source of it is purported to be MO being MO, and therefore all her fault, it will only make the racial tensions worse. We really don’t need that.

The obvious exception to staying on the high road is the very real danger that BO might bring disaster, or even treachery, along with him. We are not just talking about defeating an inexperienced guy who unseated Hillary with dirty campaigning. It very well could be as dire as many fear it might. If that is the case, perhaps it is better to get everything out in the open, even at the cost of riots. I’d rather have a period of unrest than the toppling of our country.

I hope these tapes exist, just to validate my suspicions, but I also hope they are never aired. I hope it won’t be necessary. But if BO won’t come clean about his personal history and background, and the courts won’t adjudicate it, then damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!

We can’t allow a mysterious hypnotist to take over our country for fear of a few riots.

Comment by allimom99 | 2008-10-18 00:32:30

Well put, and why i think Hillary didn’t use what she may have had. but yes, morbid curiousity and a liitle desire for vindication.

You know karma’s a bitch and then it has puppies…

Comment by Jim S | 2008-10-18 08:57:01

If the tapes do not exist and Obama loses the election, “whitey” will be mild. Michelle will be on television screaming about how ignorant honky motherfu….. stole the election from her and her husband. They deserved to win, she’s no longer proud to be an American and starting next monday she plans to go back to Trinity Church with her children to further indoctrinate them in Black theology. Her husband, Barack, will finally be able to take off his mask and attend the Mosque of his choice.

The last 24 hours is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too late. If McCain waits that long he will lose- hundreds of thousands of people are already voting. It needs to be at least a week out- like right after Obama’s infomercial.

Comment by etc. | 2008-10-18 02:06:04

If it truly exists, it needs to come out now. People are already voting!

Comment by Patience | 2008-10-17 22:51:24

Hmmm. On one hand, I agree with those who fear the last 24 hours may be too late. I usually just go to the polls to vote but I’m doing an absentee ballot this year to avoid the potential hassle of waiting in a long line behind newly-registered voters who don’t have their $hit together.

On the other hand, I think the Sunday talk shows and 24-hour news channels would do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING in their power to counteract the effect of such an incendiary tape. So maybe the less time they have to make excuses and accusations, the better.

Comment by Carol | 2008-10-18 01:46:37

Here in Oregon that is going to be too late. You all may not know that we are The Vote By Mail state and we are scheduled to receive our ballots next week. Although a lot of people will wait until the last minute to get their ballots in, there will also be a lot (me included) who will vote as soon as the ballot received. That tape needs to be released within the next week.

WAhhh. They were not confrontational either. I think it is the new Senator Government ploy. Have his Obamunists march off to try and make Fox out to be evil. Fox is the most fair of all networks. do they have a partisan or 2, sure.
But every show they always have equal time for both sides and both campaigns.

Plus, this is what bullies do when cornered and their power is taken away from them, they huff and puff and run away. Bullies have power only when not confronted. Isn’t that what Obama aspires? Not to be confronted? Sincere questions are poison to Obama, his team and his followers. They cannot stand the scrutiny and questioning. Bullies never do.

I find it amazing that even though Obama is all over the nation with his ads (TV, Internet, mailings –its impossible to get away from this guy) that he is still only 49% in the polls. I do agree with you regarding polls and who is not being asked. I am 57 years old and I have never in my life (that I recall) been polled by anyone and I have been a registered Democrat for 40 years. I have surely not been polled in the last 3 election seasons in any way at all.

Comment by gregoryp | 2008-10-17 20:33:08

Weighted polls at that. We’ll only find out the true numbers on election day. I still don’t think it will be pretty. A lot of blue states are in play for McCain regardless of the hopeless futility meme that has taken hold.

Comment by Ani | 2008-10-17 20:44:46

A polling company just called me for the first time in my life and I very politely refused to talk with them.

I do not trust where this information is going or what other info they have on callers. And if I feel that way…well, I will bet you there are a lot of people who are keeping their powder dry and not tellign pollsters what they will do on election day.

Comment by Ani | 2008-10-17 20:53:29

Furthermore, a poster made a comment the other night that a polling company called her and wouldn’t ask about candidates — only her political leanings, meaning her positions on certain issues — and since she came down on the Dem. side of things they assumed she was voting for Obama. She said ‘no, I am definitely voting for McCain.’ The pollster was sort of arguing with her, saying ‘that is not where you are supposed to be given your answers to our questions.’

The lady said “I don’t care where I am supposed tobe, I tell you I am voting for McCain.”

Comment by Steve_in_KC | 2008-10-17 20:54:22

I did the same yesterday, Ani. And they only asked about a Senate candidate and then a loaded question about taxes. But I could tell it was not a fair poll right off the bat, and I would have no part of it.

Comment by johnqpublic | 2008-10-17 23:12:12

If everyone was to sit and pay attention to what Joe the Plumber is going through just because he asked a question to the might one about his taxes.

This poor man is now being dragged through the mud, they are looking into all his personal details, stating he owes taxes, he is not a plumber and so on geez is this the America we know?

Since when has this become a country where one could not stand up and speak his mind, or ask a question, with the coming of Obama on the political scene you cant seen say his middle name if you all hell breaks lose, what is really going on here people?

I cant believe that Americans are now going to play fast and loose with their freedom, these events of pressure on an individual for speaking out is the tip of the iceberg, we should be all very concerned and be very afraid of what we are seeing.

Comment by vjhinFla | 2008-10-17 20:35:32

Yes, it seems that our right to speak out has been severely curtailed, but let’s not forget the Iraq war… Anyone who spoke out against it was portrayed as a traitor and worse by the media… But no doubt Obama has got this whole art of subversion down pretty well. This has been evolving over the last 8 years.

he cannot be touched but anyone who dares even brush with him is toast.

Comment by gregoryp | 2008-10-17 20:51:12

I just watched the video. Does Obama think that Plumbers are not valuable members of the community? What about everybody else who works for a living? Also, he is so disconnected from reality does he not understand that many plumbers make more money than doctors, lawyers, etc. Plumbing is an elite profession/trade. I hope to hell that regular people actually see that Obama holds ALL of us in contempt. That includes AA people as well. We are all beneath the SOB.

Comment by TeakWoodKite | 2008-10-17 21:39:17

Comment by Book of Daniel | 2008-10-17 20:18:57

Here’s something that at the least is a weird coincidence:

Nostradamus’s first antichrist Napaulon Ray turned out to be Napoleon and his second antichrist associated with the name Hister turned out to be Hitler. Nostradamus’s third and final antichrist is likely to be of Muslim heritage and is associated with someone named Mabus whose death will trigger calamity.

Barack’s father was a Muslim goatherd and his stepfather was also a Muslim with whom Barack attended mosque on Friday nights in Indonesia.

Only one prominent person named Mabus has ever lived — Ray Mabus, the former MS Governor and Clinton’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

Ray Mabus is Barack’s Middle East adviser and has campaigned for Barack (in videos on YouTube).

If Barack sends Ray Mabus on a mission to Iran and Mabus is killed, a military response by Barack will fulfill the Mabus prophecy.

Also note: ObaMABUSh.

Also note: The first 3 letters MAB are in the name Obama and the last 2 letters US describe the country Barack seeks to rule.

Comment by KathyNeocon | 2008-10-17 20:23:03

No offense, but isn’t this a wee bit of a stretch? Not that I don’t set my watch by Nostradamus’ predictions…

This is very strange!

Friends of mine have been saying he is the Anti-Christ but I thought that was a far stretch. But the way rational people seem to be blinded by him I’m starting to wonder.

I also found this on a Nostradamus web site:

The identity of the third and final Antichrist in CII Q62 that’s often referred to as the “Mabus” quartrain. It read;
“Mabus will soon die and there will happen a dreadful destruction of people and animals. Suddenly, vengeance will appear, a hundred hands, thirst and hunger, when the comet passes.”

Even Fox is saying McCain’s done. Why do they keep saying that when the polls are showing a tight race?

Comment by Sarracuda In So Cal | 2008-10-17 21:02:31

Fox is scared because they think that Obama is gonna win, Obama whined like a little bitch a few days ago, they are afraid they will lose their jobs in an Obama administration, so they have already started worshipping “the leader.” get used to it America, communism is a coming

Comment by McHope | 2008-10-17 22:02:05

The entire media has already lost it’s job, and willingly. They had the chance to continue the efforts of journalism, and they decided they’d rather not..all for ‘that one’. FOX doesn’t have to give in, it won’t change the outcome in the event Obama wins.

Although, I am wondering, when did FOX say this? If it were any of their afternoon programming or Brit Hume and his panel, they’ve been pro Obama all along.

There’s a reason the shows educating the public about Obama have the highest ratings.
You know the Obots do not enjoy hearing anything negative about their leader. More people watch, follows that those watching the highest rated shows are not kool aide Obama followers.

NewHampster,
I pray you have hit the nail on the head with this prediction. I have voted in every primary and general since I was 19. That was the Nixon vs McGovern election and that was the only vote(POTUS) that I wrote in Donald Duck. Really did not like either person. Was serious for the rest of the ballot. So it has been challenging to me that others do not share the same serious commitment to exercising a civic duty.
However, has anyone seen some of the “man on the street” interviews where young people don’t know how many states there are and they think Roe vs Wade is a civil rights decision? Don’t our school teach civics or whatever they are calling the subject of government these days anymore?

Well let all those fools that are following OBama laughing now wait and see what will happen if he wins, the same people that are praising him better keep on doing so no matter what shit he does because if they were ever to have a change of heart and begin to hit him like they have done everyone, Obama will deal with them one by one.

To me what I am seeing is the changing of America, government control organizations, banks, medical , schools everything run by the government or some kind of government input.

The media will have to print what Obama wants them to print, he already started sending them his talking points as we have seen, FOX will be pressured to show his good side, and all those stand up comics that love to bash Bush they will have no such luck with Obama in charge.

All the signs are there and things are slowly falling into place, the only thing that can save this country is if the people wake up and understand what is before them and keep Obama out of office, if he win weeping will be to minor we will all have to go into 4 years of mourning because freedom in America will be dead

The interesting thing about a Straw Poll is that your are not asked to answer vague queastions….You are asked who will you VOTE for….No beating around the bush…Just like on Nov. 4th, who will you vote for….McCain is always ahead by a mile.

It took just under 2 years of a Democrat majorty Congress to plunge the stock. Imagine what the market will do when Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama are in power.

ARe you better off than you were 2 years ago?

Remember when the DEMS controled Congress for the first 2 years of Bill CLinton Term ,there was no growth. The next 6 years of Bill Clinton reign when the republicans were in control of Congress, there was huge economic growth.

Do not let Obama take your money and give it to people who do not pay taxes. As John Mccain said today, “hold on to you walledts,” Or Obama will leave nothign but change in it.

Save the democratic Party from the far, left and anti-American radical liberals.

There are still a few good bleeding heart liberals who care about America and centrist democrats who care about core values and fiscal issues.

My friends are voting for mcCain/Palin. My adult Hispanic students are also Voting for McCain/Palin. I’m in California so I don’t if that helps. The other day I saw a NOBAMA sticker on a car. For California that is brave.

As Theodore H. White wrote in The Making Of The President 1960, “quiet people vote too.”

According to pollsters, between 40% and 80% of all people reached by phone right now are refusing to participate and such refusers tend to be older, more conservative, and more antiblack.

Today at work I asked someone I thought would be receptive to my opinions who she’s going to vote for. She said she’s been going back and forth between Obama and McCain and doesn’t seem to be able to make up her mind. She said she’s probably going to go into the voting booth and make her decision then. I told her I will send her some material that will show her it really is a no brainer..

Comment by wodiej | 2008-10-17 20:44:20

Amen.

Likewise, I had lunch with a friend today who was a big Hillary supporter who is now planning on voting for Obama by default. I told him a bunch of eye opening info and he is at least open to hearing more and asked for some articles and info — I am sure he wants some MSM stuff as well.

I am encouraged that he is very open to hearing the info.

His feeling is also that this is the most important election of his lifetime and he does not want to get it wrong. He votes his conscience, not his party.

Your lips to God’s ear, Hampster!

But I sense what you’re saying is absolutely correct. The savage attacks on Sarah Palin are off the scale. And yet, when you see her at these rallies, she’s drawing huge, enthusiastic crowds.

I’m getting to the point that whenever the Obamatrons go ballistic, it means they feel threatened: Sarah Palin, Joe the Plumber, whatever. And these polls are all over the place.

The other thing is this. This is the Dems’ year. It should be a shoe in, no sweat, an easy cakewalk. And yet this race is a nail biter. I think there’s reluctance and hesitation for Obama’s message, affiliations and lack of experience.

The Democratic Party had the sure winner: Hillary Clinton. But they tossed her overboard. And the Democratic Congress is beyond unpopular [10% approval rate]. I also agree, Sarah Palin is very attractive to a large segment of American women, working women, middle class women. Not the Ivy league, finishing school, I’m so politically astute types. Just ordinary, middle of the road folks. Average Americans.

And Obama supporters/bloggers calling Palin “white trash?” Or trying to discredit this plumber from Ohio?

There’s a very strong chance that strategy will bite them in the ass.

Right one, Jeremiah. When I hear these pundits say: but she was “just” a Governor or just a mayor, my question is: and your candidate for POTUS brings what to the job?

It’s beyond absurd.

But I’m beginning to think there’s something infecting the water: Buckley is supporting Obama? Christopher Hitchens is supporting Obama? Peggy Noonan is dishing Palin this morning in the NYT. Not that I’m great fans of any of these people but . . . what’s up with that? Do people go into a brain fever of some sort and stop thinking altogether, turn into Pod people, for real. It simply does not make sense when the far right decides to support the far left. Unless they’ve been possessed :0).

Or unless there’s something going on here that I cannot fathom or even imagine.

My husband keeps repeating a theory he hears at work. I won’t repeat it because it’s in lala land territory. But as a clue? We live in the Bible belt.

Comment by lisa in va | 2008-10-17 21:04:33

Yeah, I would have voted for Powell. I think he never pursued POTUS because he didn’t want the intense scrutiny and dirty politics that comes with running. Not that I think he has anything big to hide, I think he & his family just preferred their privacy.

Its a very sad day when qualified candidates do not run for president because of mudslinging and dirty (actually, beyond dirty…more like reprehensible)) politics.

“Conservative” doesn’t mean you won’t vote for a Black candidate.

Conservative means you don’t want to “spread the wealth” in refundable tax credits where people who don’t even pay taxes get a refund from the IRS.

CONSERVATIVE has nothing to do with the color anybody’s skin.

Martin Luther King was a registered Republican.

I’m a senior too, and wasn’t conservative til Obama came along. Though I’ve been called a racist by an Obama-supporting co worker, race doesn’t matter to me as long as the person is right for the job and doesn’t have a past he/she is afraid to share.

I proudly steal the following comment and I don’t even remember from whom I ripped it (hey, Joe Biden doesn’t keep track so why should I), but it’s GREAT:

It wasn’t Joe the Plumber’s QUESTION that’s the problem.

It was Barack Obama’s ANSWER.

I don’t care if Joe’s a plumber, a bassoon repairman or a blue frog in a hat, Obama has nobody to blame for his own words but himself.

[You see, Obama's been right all along. Never say what you think. The one time he does, and it might (and should) cost him the election).]

Comment by Ani | 2008-10-17 21:20:11

Thanks for posting this, IndieDogg — brilliant.

Obama likes to attack when he is ‘found out.’

That is how he distracts from the obvious flaws in his statements, lack of qualifications and candidacy.

Hello PUMAs! This is my first time blogging with you.
I have voted for ONLY Dems in every election since I was a teen,(Reagan’s first term)but this year I am voting for McCain/Palin.
I have been going to this site, No Quarter and many others since mid-primary. I donated to Hillary a few times, and twice for Mac.
I have learned alot, and have been shocked, saddened and outraged by my party this year. I used to be SO proud to be a Democrat! Keep up the good work…there have been MANY silent supporters of your work all along!

Regarding all comments about polling, a very interesting article from the Wall Street Journal,
“Some Surveys Indicate Tighter Presidential Race” covers the difficulties that pollsters are encountering this year. One interesting point is that those polls that show Obama with a large lead tend to assume that a growing proportion of voters are Democrats.

My thought is that since no one really knows how many PUMAs are out there, these polls may be seriously skewed. I have never changed my Democrat registration even though I no longer consider myself as such and I assume that I am not the only one. Check out this article at:

Same here I am registered Dem but now consider myself Independent.

I’ll probably change after the election. The only thing that bothers me is that I wouldn’t be able to vote in a primary as an Independent here in Florida.

But I guess that shouldn’t matter either the GOP or the DNC have been stealing my votes for over eight years!

I have a blog ready to go at: http://negropotus.blogspot.com/ and will be watching and recording every move he makes that brings the United States closer to becoming a socialist country. I now live in Mexico, and if “The One” wins, I will never go back to the United States. I will have lost the country I grew up in during the 68 years I have lived. What a shame this is. It may be close in the popular vote but McCain has a serious electoral college problem.

With IA going for Obama he only needs to win either CO, NM, or NV to win the election and it is looking highly likely that he will win NM and probably NV.

The November Surprise
I believe that people are not telling the truth about how they plan to vote. The polls are cooked and the media is trying to convince the American public that BO is way ahead. If he were way ahead he wouldn’t be so frantic to get every vote.

Comment by Clara Barton | 2008-10-17 22:40:15

I keep reading that the polls are cooked, not weighted appropriately, not reflective of the real voter sentiment. What I’d like someone to explain is why so many polling organizations are getting it wrong. Just so I can understand it, please enlighten me. I’d surely feel better and perhaps be able to explain to others.

I am voting McCain/Palin, but Obama’s full statement was not “A plumber is the guy he’s fighting for.” The first part of the statement was snipped. The full statement was something like “McCain wants you to think that a plumber is the guy he’s fighting for.” Taken in context, I don’t believe this statement mocks Joe the Plumber. Even though I’m agin’ Obama, I was angered that “our side” is resorting to the same tactics of manipulation as theirs. Even Hannity aired the truncated audio clip. Boo!

Comment by Julia | 2008-10-17 22:28:42

Well I think McCain is not fighting for Joe the plumber he’s fighting for all americans. And what McCain wants is that all americans checking out for themselves that Obama is fighting only for himself.

Comment by trist | 2008-10-17 22:14:54

There are 2 narratives being pushed like mad in the MSM lately…
1. Barack Obama’s already won. The Polls prove it.

2. If Barack Obama loses, it’s because of racism.

See anything wrong here?

Further more, Obama has bought expensive air time on major networks a week before the election to beg, threaten or brainwash more into turning out for him all while saying we may yet snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?

See a picture now?

No way would someone who truly believes they have it in the bag would be pushing this hard yet preparing for a loss at the same time.

Whatever these talking heads tell you about it being all over, what ever polls they love to site to prove their opinion is correct, always remember one thing….They Have An Agenda! To get Obama elected PERIOD whatever they say is to that end.

Frankly I wouldn’t even bother watching the MSM at this point, but if you must, just remember they’re not there to inform you, they’re there to manipulate you.

What I see is panic on the part of the O-camp and those shills in the media, we only need to stay focused keep getting the word out to as many as possible and urge everyone to vote against Obama. We Can Defeat him…..and they know it!

Comment by TeakWoodKite | 2008-10-17 22:48:55

The mere fact that BO made a choice to use this American in a rebuttal, shows a disturbing and very immature understanding of WHO America is.

BO spoke to this citizen while asking people to vote for him and showed no respect.

While this person may owe back taxes, Which Corporations that donated to “Him that would rub his wealth in your face” and lie to you while he did it, DOESN’T OWE TAXES???

They couldn’t pay and congress bailed them out to the tunes of trillions and Obama wants to make an example of this person?

So this person may NOT have a “plummers license”. Hey! BO! ya you! HOPE DON’T put food on the table. Why are you not railing against the very coporations you took money from?

I will tell one other thing this poor bugger doesn’t have. BO’s PLUMBERS BUTT MOUTH.

I was visiting my son in NH earlier this week (BTW, the Fall Foliage was stunning!). He and his girlfriend are for Obama – she is a full time student and her school has attracted all the big names. Michelle had just visited and Howie was there during my visit exhorting them all to go register. My son works in a mill work shop in addition to school and in this shop are very “low information” voters. They aren’t even Joe the Plumber because many don’t plan to vote. Can’t be bothered to pay attention either. An unscientific polling method I used was the yard signs around the area. Fully 90% are McCain-Palin and Sunnunu with scattered Obama and Shaheen. With the NH philosophy of Live Free or Die, I’m amazed they would even vote for a Dem who is going to tax the heck out of them! I’m sure BO was concentrating on the college towns, and the majority of the area I visited is smaller, more rural and blue collar.

Comment by hootnannie | 2008-10-17 23:03:47

I have to wonder if Bobo is wasting valuable time trying to eke out the few electoral votes allotted to NH and WV so that the MSM can scream that he won them in order to influence voters farther west. His whole strategy seems to be a jump-on-the-bandwagon appeal. The media continues to bluster that he’s “surging in the polls” and predict a Bobo landslide. Yet the fact that he referred to the Bradley Effect concerning NH shows his concern. He must think all he has to do is spend a little money or make a magical appearance. In little Gallipolis, OH, in southeast Gallia Co., I noticed an otherwise empty-looking storefront with a large Obama sign in the window. Bobo HQ? A total waste in a Republican stronghold!

Comment by Tristan | 2008-10-18 02:58:12

The idea that Obama will win the Presidency with minorities and the youth vote is laughable. I don’t believe any of these polls for one instant. Democrats only win when they can bring in blue collar whites and I haven’t seen a shred of evidence that that’s happening. The silent majority is going to be very polite and quiet like they always do so as not to offend anyone, and then they’re going to go to the polls and vote for the guy who they’ve known and trusted for 10+ years.

Comment by Lindsy | 2008-10-18 05:30:17

To be fair, right now, Obama is looking at an electoral landslide. McCain needs to pick up enough undecideds in CO, NM, and NV to swing those states back to him.

Comment by glennmcgahee | 2008-10-18 05:46:07

You can complain all you want about the many Obama commercials on TeeVee and print ads. But thats exactly why we’re seeing the media bias. The amount of money being spent by his campaign is obscene. But everybody’s got their hand out and if you don’t promote The One, you don’t get any $$$$.

Comment by ms mississippi | 2008-10-18 12:37:15

I, too, hope and pray McCain hands Obarky his ass (’xcuz my French!) on election day. There’s quite alot for us to fight for in this election. With a Democratic majority, their first order of business will be to change the 2 term limit for Obarky making him our first American dictator instead of our first black president. Then, they’re gonna gerrymander every district in the U.S. so that no Repub, no Indie, no other party period can win a seat. So, with a dictator in charge and single party rule, we’ll have ourselves a nice little socialist/communist party. No Constitution, the Pledge of Allegiance, the National Anthem, “In God We Trust” on our currency, symbols of our once great democracy will be no more, replaced by Obarky artifacts. THIS IS NOT HOLLYWOOD FICTION, FOLKS! THIS IS FOR REAL!
