FL Girl Called ‘Racist’ for Wearing pro-Palin T-shirt

Read my lips people: S-T-O-P with the faux charges of racism; children are now getting on the faux outrage bandwagon. MyFox Orlando has the story:

She’s only 12 years old but Ashleigh Jones is feeling the heat of this election year. That’s because the seventh grader at New Smyrna Beach Middle School was called a racist by classmates for wearing a pro-Sarah Palin t-shirt. Jones is volunteering at the Republican Headquarters in New Smyrna Beach. The Palin t-shirt was a gift from her fellow volunteers. “Some of the students were calling me racist because I was Caucasian,” she said. “I wanted the Caucasian man to win. And I told them that’s not true. It’s my freedom of speech, it’s my opinion.” Jones’ parents say they aren’t mad at the school they just want everyone including their daughter to voice their opinion constructively.

Here is the t-shirt in question:

Ashleigh Jones

Ashleigh Jones

Teachable moment. This is not racism. Racism is real and wrong. Let’s not weaken our resolve in stamping out racism (and sexism) by making false charges and teaching our children to follow our lead in perpetuating our faux outrage. Seriously, stop this nonsense!

Support for McCain is just that — support for the candidate and his character, judgment, policies, vision, and experience. Non-support of Obama has nothing to do with the color of his skin, but has everything to do with the content of his character, judgment, policies, vision, and experience. Are there some people out there who won’t vote for Obama because he is a person of color? Unfortunately, yes. But there are millions more who will vote for Obama because he is.

I encourage readers to check out the video of the story (can’t embed it here, sorry). I really like how the parents, school, and teacher handled this incident and turned it into a teachable moment for the students. This is how we move forward together in tolerance, acceptance, and appreciation for diversity.

Ashleigh, even though I believe that political campaigns don’t belong in school, good for you for standing up for yourself and not living in fear of being called a racist. Don’t worry, you are not alone; 18 Million voters got called racist for supporting Hillary Clinton in the primaries. I should know, I was one of them.

Go Ashleigh, Go! I’m proud of you.

grlpatriot asked me to post this for her and I obliged because stories like this need to get out. nh

This is exactly where race-baiting gets you … false charges of racism run amok. I just worry what will happen if something that really smacks of racism happens. My hope is that by that time, every one won’t be so desensitized that they turn a deaf ear to real injustice.

Obama has shown no leadership on this.

It is despicable that he would allow innocent children to be scarred by such a filthy accusation because he is not man enough to say that he will not advantage himself by such filthy and unjust tactics.

Payback is coming. What will happen is that people will be desensitized to real charges of racism eventually — just as Republicans who employed swift boat tactics on candidates before that were not fair — now they are simply telling the truth about Obama — a horrid, dissembling candidate, and the rank and file won’t believe them (or us).

Something about crying wolf, I believe.

Mr. Uniter has done horrible damage.

He hasn’t said a word about the Sarah Palin is a c*** shirts, either. It’s his smirky, smug tone that lets his followers believe it’s okay to say anything about the opposition. O set the tone by brushing those Hillary crumbs off his shoulders and saluting her with his middle finger. o and his minions have no idea about boundaries and then he has the nerve to try to call McCain negative.

BTW, why hasn’t the media made the connection between o’s snarky “bitter” comments against the middle class and his attack on Joe the Plumber? I haven’t even seen Fox make the connection. It’s o exposed.

I’m in Central FL, this was in the local news.

This will tick people off.

Add to that there is not ONE Obama sign in my entire area.

In fact — there are no McCain signs either.

There’s an undercurrent here, like a code of silence.

I have a feeling the polls are Waaaaay off.

Comment by WasLNbutNoBamaBotsKeepStealingMyName | 2008-10-18 13:07:02

Yes, the Code of Silence, which means that voters are afraid to speak out who they are really voting for…John McCain.

Comment by NewHampster | 2008-10-18 13:08:00

It’s the same silence that stunned the pollsters in NH. The silent majority voted for Hillary and they will be voting for McCain/Palin

Comment by Arabella Trefoil | 2008-10-18 13:15:06

The silenced majority will decide this election.

Comment by Benjamin | 2008-10-18 13:51:56

Well, analyzing the NH polls showed that it was the “women” of New Hampshire who turned out in huge numbers for Hillary, and a good number of Edwards voters went for Hillary too. Edwards’ actual vote was 6 or 7 points below what the polls said. The arrogance of the Obama camp - and the MSM gleefully writing Hillary’s political obituary - was just too much for people.

I sense things going in a similar way for this GE. Although the Dems are boasting about Obama’s huge organization on the ground, the Repubs are just historically better at it, and more dependable overall as voters. Don’t forget that in 2004 Kerry was leading in the polls right up until election day, and even the exit polls showed a Kerry win.

Most of the PUMAS are folks who have followed this election season closely. They are high info voters who will definitely go to the polls on election day.

Comment by noproblama | 2008-10-18 16:27:59

Yes, but the Obama campaign plans to compensate by fraudulent voting. And it looks like no one will stop them, at least in Ohio.

I’m in Palm Beach County Florida. Always bumper stickers, lawn signs etc.

None this year. My lawn sign was stolen so that may be happening a lot. As far as bumper stickers I have four and never have had one on my car before. My daughter worries the car will be vandalized. That may be why I don’t see anyone else have them.

Its scary that because you don’t like his politics its equated with being racist. Like we’re all supposed to just lay down our principles and vote for him because he’s half kenyan!

I am a woman with strong opinions. And I have been told I can have a commanding presence. I don’t back down easily. Even still, there have been times when I have back down to Obots or denied my support of the McCain/ Palin ticket. I have always felt a stinging guilt or cowardice- like waiting for the cock to crow. I can’t wait to get into the privacy of the voting booth and exorcize those feelings.

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-10-18 18:00:24

Well, I don’t feel bad about it. First of all, in an election like this, politics can really ruin a fun social evening out. Second, why upset people. Obviously, many O supporters are either very immature or very passionate. Gee, I think I might have resembled that a bit back along time ago. *haha

He’s tapped into the youth, who love nothing better than to make a smart remark to an older person. Who needs the grief?

In short, there’s no real reason to speak up. I did tell my girlfriends one night when they were trashing Palin that I liked her and was voting for that ticket.

A woman came up later who is married to someone who sees the sexist slurs and told me she was glad I spoke up.

So there are “secret” supporters.

Or as McCain said, “Glad to see you here tonight, Hillary.” *haha

I have the only McCain/Palin sign in our affluent neighborhood. No Obama signs at all.

I have a McCain/Palin bumper sticker on my car, and have been tailgated and cut off by two young black men within the last week. I’ll be damned if I’ll let them intimidate me.

I’m a 67 year old white woman who drives a spiffy black Caddy. If I can stand up to them, we all can.

We have our McCain sign up in the front yard. But, we also have infrared cameras and DVR. It would be almost worth it for somebody to mess with our sign. If so, I would be putting it on YouTube. ;)

Comment by Soldier of Christ | 2008-10-18 16:02:31

I tell you why there is no signs in Florida because if you do have a sign- things happen to you. In my neighborhood I have made it clear that there are two colored family and that is I and my neighbor. We both have Mccain/Palin signs- and even though we are colored- the african american guys that do trash pickup skips our houses at least once a week, that is, until we complaint to the City officials and they got on the ball and started picking up our trash. People are sick of intimation and are all waiting to vote and get this race over with. This man has divided our country and if he is elected, then we deserve the misery.

Yes, nobama’s camp is playing the race card for all it’s worth, and it’s going to backfire on them big time…in fact, it already is.

The majority of the American people will not stand to be falsely accused. We will vote for John McCain for President of the United States of American on Nov. 4th.

and it’s going to backfire on them big time

Not if its shore up by ‘conversational hypnosis.’ That will act as an antidote to rational thinking. It can take months to wake up from it.

Comment by Angel | 2008-10-18 14:01:31

Hi Lark,

I’m still trying to figure it all out myself, but I’m not so sure it’ll take months to come out of it.

People don’t know and can’t explain exactly “why” they feel the way they do, which I would think would have to trigger at least some critical thinking skills in order to figure out it.

I might be completely off-base here, but so far it appears they haven’t been able to apply a logical solution why they believe in someone who has never in their life accomplished anything that supports his ability to lead this country. They feel it well enough, but still…I think supporters would like to be able to point to something that can’t be disputed to support their cause - even if the sole purpose is to use it against those who don’t support Obama.

So if they really want to find something conclusive, then they would have to tap in to their critical thinking skills and beyond just a ‘feeling’. This is not a place Obama wants them to go. To Obama, it’s imperative that he told a tight rein on what he wants people to believe without exercising critical thinking. If they go there, he loses them.

This conversational hypnosis is something they haven’t considered as an answer to why they feel the way they do - yet. However, if they hear about it and how it has been applied to them personally, then the seed has been planted and it may become something they keep bumping up against. I believe that people inherently have to have a logical answer to explain (if only to themselves) why they believe what they believe.

For those who were former Obama supporters, use of their critical thinking skills has already proved that Obama’s manipulation tactics against them is totally ineffective. More and more, you can see people starting to come out of the fog. It’s inevitable.

Comment by lark | 2008-10-18 14:15:55

I hear you and agree with your vision but I see things from my position - sideways from yours.

1. I don’t need 1000 social scientist to do 1000 studies on the video on ‘conversational hypnosis’ you provided me with. One video - ‘that one’ gives me enough for me to understand enough to know. Now I know. The answers are in the video. One must look at it attentively.

2. Obama is the host. Hillary the unsuspected traveler. So are all of us. Each in a particular stage.

3. I must tell you that while I consider myself a critical thinker - whatever that means - I am falling slowly under the influence of Obama’s ‘conversational hypnosis’ as I watch more and more his performances. I am glad you showed me what he does so that I can decouple myself from his spell. But it is difficult to do. ‘Conversational hypnosis’ as you can see in the video is extremely powerful.

4. MSM is practicing with us those techniques and coupling with Obama. It is double whammy.

5. I think it takes months to de-couple.

Comment by C.S. | 2008-10-18 16:00:48

You can “de-couple” just by reading accounts rather than watching. I never had a problem but every time I hear him on TV I switch channels and turn him off.

Subliminal imagery and subliminal messages lose impact if not seen or heard. There was a study done about the movie “The Exorcist” after it was released and so many were so scared by it. Subliminal imagery was implanted in the movie and provoked a subliminal fear response. One of my psychology professors saw that movie 7 times to count all the subliminal imagery and then wrote a paper about it and used it as an example of mind control in his lectures.

It was also used in advertising and has been banned. And,

A study conducted by the United Nations concluded that “the cultural implications of subliminal indoctrination is a major threat to human rights throughout the world.

Whatever you call it, “conversational hypnosis”, or manipulation of the subconscious mind, it is unethical and illegal and only used for nefarious purposes.

Comment by V | 2008-10-18 22:43:15

The “hypnosis” is not working on everyone…that is why there is double the number of undecideds. Lets face it, far right will vote McCain & far left will vote Obama. The winner of this election will come down to moderates/indpendents/PUMAS. All of which tend to be better informed than the average straight ticket voter (at least, imho).

Also, any “news bombs” that drop on Oblahblah, will happen right before election day. Why? The surprise will not be used to sway bots to McCain, it will be used to strip away O’s facade, expose him and cause a good portion of his thugs and willy nilly “Oooohbama” fans, to stay home in shame and not vote at all. Good riddance. I don’t want idiots to vote any longer.

Comment by PhxNickD | 2008-10-18 14:21:22

The winner of this election will come down to moderates/indpendents/PUMAS.

While this is a “known” unknown quantity of the electorate, the Obama campaign is worried about one other “unknown” quantity of the electorate: How many female voters will be voting for Palin?

Comment by noproblama | 2008-10-18 16:38:57

Comment by Ciardha | 2008-10-18 20:27:11

No, the most liberal people don’t like Obama either. Hillary had the strongest support amongst the most liberal voters in the primaries- people like me. The fauxgressives that were his base consider themselves “moderately liberal” -meaning they don’t give a rats behind about women’s (of any color) rights, poor people (of any color and both genders), union workers (of any color and both genders), GLBT people (of any color), etc…

The most liberal voters will, like me, be voting Green Party. I’m still flaming angry about Obama, his campaign, his backers gross misogyny, classism, homophobia, ageism, and racism against Asian Americans, Native Americans, and race baiting smears against Hillary, Bill, and the Hillary voters. I will NEVER EVER vote for Obama, he’s not a socialist at all (unlike a lot of you here I think some socialism is what our country needs, the grotesque salaries and pensions of corporate CEOs needs to be taxed, and big time. They pay nothing towards social security after making 100,000 dollars, they also need to be taxed on their income more too, back to what it was during the Rosevelt-Carter administrations where the fraction of 1% of people who made the equilivent of 1 million and up were taxed between 70-94 percent on their income. The massive tax cut for the wealthy during the Reagan adminstration to an obscenely low 28% laid the tax burden on the working poor and middle class- there was a massive jump amongst the lower class into poverty because of this, while the wealthy grabbed more and more of the wealth. Something that didn’t change until the Clinton adminstration raised the top rate slightly- to 31%. It needs to go back up. Hillary and Bill support an increase on the upper bracket of the income tax, and believe they should pay more, being wealthy. Hillary had a strong base amongst the most liberal voters because she espoused liberal ideals, including the belief the wealthy should pay higher taxes. If you look at countries like Sweden that have higher taxes on the wealthy than we do, they also have good universal health care systems, far lower percentage people living in poverty, and people report themselves as being far more happy than Americans do. We need a strong social welfare system, something Hillary believes in.

Obama spouts all kinds of bull all across the political spectrum, but his voting record actually shows a pro corporatist slant. (never mind the national review descriptions- they are grossly innaccurate for showing who is actually more progressive- look at this very detailed progressive website to see who is actually the more progressive, Hllary definitely is more progressive, and she’s a real one, not a conartist like Obama. In the 2007-8 term Obama was less progressive than even Lieberman!

It is insidious the hate that accompanies this “hope and change” candidate. The arrogant disdain and vicious assaults on those who disagree - it’s clear the One’s followers have taken leave of rationality; as if under some type of spell.

This is what it’s all about folks. Kids live what they learn. They heard it from home, on the street, from the media, leaders so it must be true. If you vote for McCain you’re racist. What I want to know is since over 90% of the black community is voting for Obama, is that not racist also then? So kids learn this, grow up, teach their kids that, and it starts the whole cycle over again.

This racist business has been festering for years and I don’t know about most people but I am pretty sick of it. The victim shit is old. Get over it.

Comment by NoTrollZone | 2008-10-18 14:00:54

You left out, “learn it at school.” From what I’ve been hearing, many schools are favoring Obama and the teachers are using textbooks with him in them and special assignments on him– heck, you’ve seen the same stuff I have, I’m sure.

Teachers should get their sorry asses out of the partisanship haze and concentrate on the well-being of their students.

A teacher should have been on top of this incident immediately. Instead, it sounds like nothing from the teachers or the school.

A school should be a safe place for kids. Not a place to teach intolerance and ignorance.

Once I find an answer I work with that answer as many angles as I can to test it. Everywhere. So now I am looking at the media MSM as using ‘conversational hypnosis’ on us - pointing to the direction of the question before asking the question on which way is it that we should be going.

Now I know what’s going on.

Point in direction –> ask the question –> get the answer you are insinuating you are expecting –> confirm direction to gain confidence and control –> ask for surrendered values –> acquire those values –> release your victim deprived of his/her values.

Comment by Docelder | 2008-10-18 14:00:56

Yes, the MSM is not only complicit, but this goes way past them into the very mass marketed society we waking up to find ourselves already well a part of. Obama is just an over-hyped brand name. I am starting to feel more “normal” by my own personal views everyday now. ;)

Let the character assassination begin. How dare she to wear a t-shirt like that which indirectly questions the “messianic” nature of The One among young kids. Sadly, the Republicans are not the fascist thugs in this race. That honor goes to the Obots who’ve hijacked the DNC. The Party of the Working Man is now the Party of Jackboot Brown Shirts.

So in due time we will find out that the whole of Obama’s campaign was a hoax. The whole of it. In due time.

So that’s the way Hillary was duped. Exactly like that man in Act 1. And that was exactly what Obama did to Hillary since he began stealing from her. Then once he found it worked, he keep repeating on her the same trick. Over and over and over she has under his hypnotic influence. At the end it was obvious she was in the same position of the fellow as Act 1 ended.

Then Hillary began Act 2. This is when you begin to walk back trying to make sense of what happened. And Act 2 is still happening as Thursday dinner in the Astoria reflected. So we know now that at this very moment, Hillary is living ACT 2.

Unfreaking believable.

But, on the bright side, had the democratic primary season extended just another 30 days… Hillary would have taken him. There is an elaborate timing and coordination required here. That could be the weakness. The Infomercial needs to be preempted.

Comment by lark | 2008-10-18 14:27:19

Yes. Can you see she gave him her delegates. But the pressure of the direction was placed always before the question and the expectation of the answer to be what was insinuated. At the end, she gave him her delegates and nominated him by acclamation.

Then came the meeting with Bill Clinton in Harlem.

Now she was given ‘trust,’ that is the camera and the water bottle. She’s holding them for him. She is in the middle of Act 2.

At the end of Act 2, not yet closed, the fellow walks back again unaware that he has lost his values (valuables).

Well, sadly, this is typical of those who support Obumble. They can run around with their t-shirts calling Ms. Palin a c*** and that’s ok, but everyone else is racist.

Obumble, Mr. Unity Pony himself, has never once come out and decried the use of this kind of language. Hell, his presidential website allowed the advertising of t-shirts promoting “Bro’s before HO’s” so what can we expect. This guy is class all the way.

Also, sadly, we don’t hear much of a voice from the AA community leadership complaining about the willy nilly use of racism. It’s become their crutch and it gets dragged out whenever things aren’t going their way.

Racism isn’t owned by caucasians, witness the AA attacks on the Korean community after Rodney King. Racism is ugly wherever it rears its head but it’s like the boy who cried wolf. If you scream it too often, no one hears it any longer.

Comment by Wisewoman | 2008-10-18 18:49:44

Cahil,
I understand your concerns and agree with you on the leadership in the AA community remaining silent. I have not remained silent as evidenced by my comments on this blog and the letter I wrote to Hillary below:

Dear Senator Clinton:
Although I understand and appreciate your promises to Sen Obama, I can not in good conscience support any person who would blatantly and falsely accuse anyone of racism and play the race card to get votes like George Wallace as Sen Obama did in SC. His actions were deplorable and you and Bill should have answered his charges. I am a 63 yr old black female who supported you ($1200.00 over the course of the campaign on a fixed income) and who marched with Dr. King. For me this is not about pay back or even about you. Sen. Obama has violated one of my core beliefs regarding race and politics. For that I despise him. Right now I can not stand to look at or listen to him. For that reason and because of the actions of the DNC and superdelegates, I will never vote for Obama!!!!!!!!

One of the faithful 8% forever

Comment by Cahil | 2008-10-18 19:25:10

Wisewoman,

Believe me when I say that I appreciate what you wrote about G. Wallace and what you wrote to Bill and Hillary. You and Soldier4Hillary are two amongst many whose writings and speaking up are not only bold but brave since so many Obama supporters have written and said ugly things about those who dare to disagree with him.

I also appreciate and support Lt. Col. Allen West, Rep. candidate for Congress in the 22nd District of Fla., who has called on Obama to stop using race and run on the merits of his record, accomplishments and goals.

Until we as a nation “judge people on the content of their character and not the color of their skin” and are allowed to do so without the name calling, we won’t progress.

Thank you for your comments.

I’m thinking that there just may be bit of a backlash on Election Day against Obama for these kinds of juvenille tactics on the part of his supporters.

Who is going to riot — his wacky nineteen year old, white, thuggish blackberry carryin’ Obots??

I will not be threatened into voting for anyone. I don’t others will either. His horrid tactics and his dissembling make clear he is not ready or deserving of this office.

I heard about this incident yesterday. It’s just another appalling example of the mania that has swept the country. I agree with Hampster–I’m not a big fan of bringing politics into the schools. And it’s because of this. And I’m equally outraged when I hear of teachers creating “blue” days to show Democratic/Obama support or hear that textbooks in Racine, Wis. have been distributed, featuring 13 pages glorifying Barack Obama’s nonexistent accomplishments.

I cannot explain what’s going on. But when you have trolls right here at NQ, lurking and discrediting the country in every way they can, insisting the National Anthem or any expression of national pride is “empty and hollow,” then you have to ask yourself: What does change really mean to the Obamatrons?

I’ve been asking for nearly six months: what is the future we’re suppose to be cheering? A change to what and where? What would Obamaworld look like?

If the campaign or Obama’s associations are indicative of that glorious future [which I think they are] you can certainly count me out. I’ve already voted for McCain [an amazing fact in and of itself for a life-long Dem].

But I have no regret. As far as I’m concerned, McCain was the only legitimate candidate on the ballot.

This is a classic example of why I think that there might be a hidden 2-3% in the polls for McCain. My sense is that there are quite a few white voters out there who prefer McCain but, rather than be called as “racist” by Obama supporters, will simply say they’re supporting Obama to avoid the hassle.

If McCain and Palin can narrow the gap in the polls to 2-3% over the next couple of weeks, it’s anybody’s game.

Furthermore, it was never overturned under 8 years of Reagan and 12 years of Bush 1 & 2 and from 2001-2006 — we had Republican majorities in both houses.

No Troll, I’m assuming it is the word “niggardly” that you take offense with. Although not a word used commonly it does not mean what you are inferring. From http://www.dictionary.com

nig·gard·ly /ˈnɪgərdli/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[nig-erd-lee] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–adjective
1. reluctant to give or spend; stingy; miserly.
2. meanly or ungenerously small or scanty: a niggardly tip to a waiter.
–adverb
3. in the manner of a niggard.

Years ago some public figure used this word to describe “stingy” or cheap. It became a huge affair resulting in the gentleman losing his job. You will learn by visiting the dictionary that this word does not imply what you have assumed it does.

The last few generations of young people have been bludgeoned with the idea that any conversation about race is racist, not to mention any conversation or situation certain people deem to be about race–for example, supporting Hillary or McCain this election instead of Sen. Obama. We’re not talking conversations that denigrate minorities, rather ANY conversation. I’ve been shocked so many times to hear people say, “That’s racist!” in response to things that are in no way, by any stretch of the imagination, racist. In this election season, that searing brand has been manipulated even further as a way to falsely demonize Obama’s opposition.

If we look for practical reasons for the very real problem of low minority achievement in urban schools, it’s racist. If we question radical liberal academics’ conclusions about race, it’s racist. If we mention that a certain politicians’ support is mainly among white, working class voters, we’re racist; however, the NYT and any of the other Obama-friendly media who mention the same thing, or talk about the fact that Obama’s support is almost unanimous among African Americans, are beyond reproach. If we call black politicians (along with their white, Latin, and Asian colleagues) on serve-serving motives, we’re called racist. If we criticize the divisive and hateful messages of men like Rev. Wright and Father Pfleger, we’re racist. When Bill Clinton is quoted out of context when he states historical facts about primary races, as part of a much-larger conversation, he and his wife are pilloried as racist and attacked by the media for months, creating a heartbreaking schism between them and a community they have cherished and supported all their lives. If I were to call someone a “typical black person,” I’d be hung out to dry (and arguably I’d deserve it for such sloppy thinking), but, by some strange twist in logic, if Barack Obama calls his own grandmother a “typical white person,” it’s okay.

When I was in college I took part in a gay and lesbian computer discussion board (when these things were still quite new), and I was always astounded at how every mention of race was shot down as racist and declared off-limits for conversation by students freshly indoctrinated into the liberal rules for political and social discourse. If you disagreed with the official position, you were greeted with attacks, derision, and horror for your apparent ignorance and insensitivity. That trend has continued unabated.

Attacks like this one against Ashleigh Jones and the one on Joe the Plumber are designed specifically to quash free speech and to silence people. I’ve found myself keeping my support for McCain/Palin and my criticisms of Obama to myself for fear of alienating my mostly liberal friends, and because I don’t feel like being attacked constantly, both for being a “racist” and as someone suffering from “internalized homophobia.” My parents however are thrilled that I’ve finally “seen the light.”

At some point you have to look beyond identity politics and do what’s right for the country. By voting for a party with a poor record on gay and lesbian rights and the wrong position on choice, I’m putting aside these issues that are very important to me as a gay man and a feminist, because I think the Democrats are on the wrong track and threaten the stability of our country at a vulnerable time. But despite my problems with the Republican party, I don’t believe the majority of them are racist. In fact I think it’s a rather small minority who hold onto bigoted views. The opposition to Barack Obama is overwhelmingly because of his personal and political failing, his lack of experience, the dirty tricks of his campaigns—past and present– his personality cult, and his associations with horrible people.

I think Obama could have redeemed himself of these issues had he taken a different direction and had controlled his ambition, stayed in the Senate, and cleaned up his personal associations. But he chose to go back on his word to not run for president this time around, he waged a horribly dirty campaign—with his surrogates throwing down the race card willy nilly, and with his supporters bullying their way through the primary and the general—and it looks like he may be wrapped up in the ACORN voter registration scandal.

Comment by McAnnie Carmel Baracuda | 2008-10-18 15:22:41

Good for you Tom K. I look forward to the day when sexual orientation and medical decisions are not part of the legislative process but are solely personal.

It would certainly make for more clarity in politics and allow people to focus on the records of candidates rather than where they stand on issues that should have no place in the law.

Good for Ashleigh Jones and her parents.

What is this concept that if you choice is McCain/Palin and you are white you are a racist? If you are black and against McCain/Palin and spew hate at their supporters aren’t you also a racist?

This is an election fraught with all sorts of isms and those isms are being perpetuated by the MSM and the Democrats. As Pelosis stated Democrats want to win at any cost. Apparently that includes spewing hate and cheating.

Fortunately when people enter the voting booth their choices are based on many things including the character of the candidate and their view of where they want our country to go.

Comment by Dan | 2008-10-18 14:42:06

Where is she now - she surely sees these same incidents - and what about Bill Clinton - he was called racist also - should they not speak up about all this?

Are all of the racism charges really a front to obscure the DNC/obama true intentions for this country - making America a third world country with facist ideologies?

Apparently “Utter Bullsh*t” has misunderstood. Ashleigh was quoting her schoolmates who suggested that she was supporting McCain because of his race (and that suggestion was itself racist — the false accusation of racism is itself racist).

When people make such false accusations it just weakens the power of the word — makes people less ashamed to be considered racist.

As for me, I hate mice and rats. I am a rodentist.

Comment by noproblama | 2008-10-18 17:09:53

Yes, but then we really don’t expect any down-turned eyes from Obama supporters. After all, this is exactly what they want to happen, so they’ll unabashedly spin it their way.

Primary political strategy - go after the most easily influenced; kids, the disgruntled, the under-informed and teach them to hate anyone who doesn’t agree.

This never works for long, but the damage will.

Look at the carry on to Hillary after Pa debate, Joe the Plumber abuse, randy rhodes comments, vile Palin t-shirts… and on and on. I personally was accosted yesterday at a traffic light by a car full of black high school punks ; not even old enough to vote…

Aren’t they usually fairly well split - maybe 60-40 at the most difference? But, as I recall, the last 4 or 5 have been pretty tight, except for the 3rd candidate who once got a good margin.

So, why should everyone assume that NOW because *that one* is running, he should have 100% of the country?

I think we are split pretty much right where we always are…no?

The game Barack Hussein Obama, his wife and their media supporters are playing is extremely dangerous.By saying that if their “Long Legged Mac Daddy ” does not win, racism will be to blame, they are sending a clear message to all the young and less young black americans:if BHO does not win, go and spread your anger over the streets; break shop windows, plunder, riot, beat and kill all the white people you meet. In one word, do exactly like the partisans of his uncle Raila Odinga did after the latest presidential elections in Kenya. The results: thousands of murders, rapes, arsons based on ehnicity.
Maybe the white supporters of “Long Legged Mac Daddy” will have to pin blue or black stars on their chests ( yellow, again!, for his jewish fans), in order to avoid being attacked. Anyway, Michelle Obama, the separatist and “whitey hater” would be at the highest peak of happiness.Farrakhan, the neo-black panthersand the paleo-communists too. Just like Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro and Ahmadinejad. What about the european leftists? They will, hypocrites as they are, share crocodile tears over the USA.
