ORGANIZING AND ISLAM
Organizing in neighborhoods has taken two paths that reflect historic dichotomy between integrationist and nationalist strategies. Many top conununity leaders collaborate on urban issues through city’s grasgroots network, forging multi-racial coalitions, while others take black nationalist approach, looking only within the African-American community for leadership and resources.
In first category are Ani Russell of community policing network, 312-461-0444; Jacky Grimshaw, former strategist for Harold Washington now working an community transportation issues; 773-278-4800, ext. 133; and Barack Obama, 773-684-4809, whose work to empower blacks has included his law practice, community organizing, philanthropy and most recently electoral politics: he is a candidate for state senate. A quiet leader with broad vision of empowerment and redevelopment in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood is Sokoni Karanja, 773-373-5700, whose nonprofit Centers for New Horizons provides social services, youth programs, education and child care.
Powell lied about McCain or his campaign saying Obama was a Muslim. Myself I think if nothing else he is an Arab.

Obama lies as well over and over. There is plenty of proof to tie him to ACORN and Ayers.

Won’t bother to show it, because you know it exists…All of us know it.

It’s the DUMB Whites who are voting for Obama who need to clean their ears and eyes out and REALLY listen to what Obama says (or does NOT say) and WHAT he and his corrupt gang of followers do.

And, free speech? Yes, it seems that we ALL our voicing our opinions and we’re voicing our opinions about Powell – and they ain’t good!

Be that as it may, Larry has let this site become a one stop shop for every bit of Obama bashing to come from any point of the compass. Larry has been very quiet in his support for Mr. Barr. The silence is even more deafening among his supporting cast. Susan UnPC has not had a single thing to say for or against Mr. Barr and Rabble Rouser Amy has also had naught to say about the former Congressman.

This is very odd behavior for a site whose lead man supposedly supports the Libertarian cause. Now when the discussion turns to Obama; well that is something completely different. The anti-Obama tilt of this blog is unambiguous. The type of tilt is also unambiguous; it is far-right Republican talking points. It is Carl Roves’ greatest hits.

So it is no great surprise that the discussion went straight down the tubes when Powell stopped being coy about his support of Obama. Powell is a racist, Powell got bought off, Powell is a traitor to the cause. In way it is sad.

Colin Powell once was story that Republicans, especially Moderate Republicans admired. He worked his ass off, he did not rock the boat, he was wicked smart, and he played the game by the rules. He played racial politics the old fashioned way; the way Republicans used to love. He made no outrageous claims, he was calm, he was cool, he was mild mannered, he was non-threatening. His rise to prominence was validation for the existing political system. When he finally came out as a Republican the party was thrilled; he was their glittering prize. And why not? Powell acted (and still acts) as a shield against charges against racism against the G.O.P. It is Powell, Condoleezza Rice and damn few other dark faces on the front lines. Colin Powell was the idea of the “Big Tent” Republican in flesh and blood.

But that, as they say, is all in the past. Anyone who does not tow the McCain / Palin line is to be driven out into the outer darkness. Even the Scions of Conservative Lions are not exempt. Bill Buckley’s own son was excommunicated from the fold for his heresy of supporting Obama. Buckley had the bad form to doubt the new Madonna of the Conservative movement Mrs. Palin.

This is not to say Powell is pure and virginal as the driven snow. There are plenty of valid points one could bring up about Powell’s support of Bush’s foreign and domestic policies. The man sat in on the discussions about the torture of detainees post 9/11 and failed to disclose those discussions to the general public. Powell did nothing to stop Dick Cheney’s excellent little war in Iraq. Powell did nothing to halt Bush’s disastrous policy with North Korea. Powell let Dick Cheney ruin a promising opening we had with Iran after 9/11. At best he was ineffectual in preventing Dead eye Dick from enacting a full throated NeoCon foreign policy. At worst he supported Cheney’s and Bush’s Mesopotamian madness. We are over four thousand lives lost in Iraq ( 3388 of those due to combat) due to that decision. The number of Iraqi dead is literally uncounted. ( Estimates Run from about 300,000 to over 1,000,000.)

Larry Johnson only briefly touched on these valid points. Regular commentators did not even bother to delve into the real meat of the issue. So much better to go over the same tiered old ground. It is the same tiered old screeds about how Obama “stole” the election, about how Obama is a secret Muslim, or a secret socialist, or a secret black radical, or a secret Indonesian, or really an secret Arab, or god only knows what. It is so sad in a way.

Barack Obama is the most boring, conservative, straight-down-the-middle consensus Democrat that ran. Hillary was to the LEFT of Obama on many domestic issues especially health care. To accuse Obama of being a socialist in sheep’s clothing is laughable. If Obama is a Socialist then Hillary is an out-and-out Marxist-Leninist.

Still N.Q. keeps banging away with every Rovian talking point. It waves every dead stinking toad out that it can think of. Never mind that Ayers is and was a respected Professor of Education when he first brushed up against Obama. Never mind the organization that they both worked on was supported by The Annenbergs, Rock-Ribbed Nixon Republicans. Never mind that numerous other heavy weights in the Chicago civic society also were on the very same board. Never mind that all these divergent people joined together because they wanted to improve Chicago’s notoriously bad schools. No, all that matters is that once upon a time Bill Ayres was part of the Weather Underground. That is all we need to know to smear not only Obama but every other member of that board. They are now all wild-eyed bomb-throwing terrorists or terrorist sympathizers every last one of them.

The guilt by association meme continues with Reverend Wright. Obama is not Wright, he only went to Wright’s church. How much of Wrights’ ideology Obama really subscribes to is an open question. Looking at Obama’s actions in politics one would have to say not terribly much. In all his legislative endeavors Obama has been very boring and predictable. Until he reached the U.S. Senate he was a reliable liberal voice; he represented his constituency with out much drama and very faithfully. As a U.S. Senator he has also been rather boring. Obama has been no wild-eye Socialist in the Senate; ask Bernie Saunders(I) Vermont, the only declared Socialist in the U.S. Senate. Bernie would love to have some company. Bernie will be the first to tell you that Barack, while a good guy and a better choice than McCain, is no wild-eyed radical.

In the final analysis what is most disturbing about N.Q. is the untrammeled rage and hatred it stokes. When Larry has to wade in and say “enough” with some of the remarks about My Lai you know you have gone way too far. In passing it is odd that McCainiacs would pull out an old discredited cuckoo-for-coca-puffs radical-left chestnut about Powell out of the fire.

I however do love it when supporters go all medieval about how it’s Powell and Obama who are the real racists. This despite the reams of evidence about Republican efforts to suppress minority votes in the past and in the present.

This the real reason for pushing the myth of ACORN and voter fraud when all the real evidence points to election fraud, vote rigging, and vote caging. All the better to steal the election one more time. That would make it a Republican triple play: 2000,2004, 2008.

And if that fails the Republicans and their stalwarts will try to do to Obama what they did to W.J. Clinton. They will continue to invent “scandal” after “scandal” after “scandal” and ruin any chance of governing from the center.

Unfortunately this blog will merrily participate in such goings on. It will gleefully attempt to tear down an Obama Administration (if such a thing comes to pass) printing every piece of unvetted filth that is offered it. It already has a long track record of going over the deep end with the CLOB, the secret Muslim accusations and so forth. Again this is truly a sad turn of events. One time this blog stood against right wing smear and innuendo. Now Larry is waist deep in the muck and headed for the deepest part of the swamp in full scuba gear.

A more reasoned and reasonable man could have made a good case about how we should not pay attention to Powell given his performance in the Bush Administration. It was a golden opportunity for both Larry and or Susan UnPc. All you had to do was stop tearing into your Obama chew-toy for for a short while. But you just can’t stop attacking that chew-toy can you?

yeah, and bo really helped, didn’t he..a born leader? no, he is a coward.

and you think that the troika of pelosi, reid, and obama is something we should vote for? that is the scariest scenario of all.

Colin Powell is black and Dick Cheney is white. That’s about it.

Obama and his greedy Iran cavier (sp), double lobster eating bitter, ungrateful, racist wife will be in the W.H. and THAT’S all they want. Obama supporters – of ALL colors – and empty promises will be thrown under the bus with everything/everybody else that has been used and then discarded – once they have served their ‘useful’ purposes.

Dare criticize him while he’s president and he just may send his ‘truth squad’ people after you. This would be something to laugh at, but since Joe the Plumber happened and all the terrible things he’s going through – this is NO LAUGHING MATTER – this COULD really happen. Time to WAKE UP America and SEE what is happening.
