Feminists Stand Behind Sarah, And Sarah Fights For All Women

Sarah stands up for all women: “"When it came time for choosing, somehow Barack Obama just couldn’t bring himself to pick the woman who got 18 million votes in his primary, and that seems to be too familiar a story isn’t it? … How it is for so many American women that the qualifications are there, but for some reason the promotion never comes?” (And why are some candidates’ wives, like Cindy McCain, not only seen but heard in speeches, but some candidates’ wives secreted away? Well, there’s more on that below.)

Some prominent feminists — including two members of the Democratic National Platform Committee — also stand up for all women (not just women whose politics they prefer):

[A] small group of high-profile feminists has lined up behind the Republican ticket. They stood on stage today at Governor Palin’s side — Linda Klinge, the former Oregon president and now current vice president of the organization NOW, Shelley Mandell, president of the LA chapter of NOW, Elaine Lafferty, former editor-in-chief of “Ms.” magazine, and Lynn Rothschild, a member of the Democratic platform committee. — From the transcript of “Behind the Feminist ‘Left’ Jabs to Palin, On The Record With Greta, October 21, 2008.” [Below the fold, you'll see a more detailed description of these women.]

All of you, especially our longtime fervent supporters of Hillary Clinton, will love the quotes below from Sarah’s spirited speech yesterday:

The ABC News blog Political Radar wrote an excellent, detailed report on Sarah Palin’s speech yesterday. “Palin Reaches Out to Women Voters, Slams Obama for Passing Over Clinton” includes a number of direct quotes from Sarah’s speech, as well as backgrounder facts and details relevant to Sarah’s remarks.

First, here’s the ABC blog’s more detailed description of the prominent feminists who stood up with Sarah on stage yesterday, which I’ve broken up into bullet points for easier reading:

Palin was joined on stage by five women who endorsed her candidacy, including two members of the Democratic National Platform Committee, two leaders of chapters of the National Organization of Women, and a former editor of Ms. Magazine.

  • Lynn Rothschild, a Democratic National Platform Committee member and prominent supporter of Sen. Clinton, had endorsed the McCain-Palin ticket in September, but had not appeared publicly with Palin.
  • Prameela Bartholomeusz also served on the Democratic Platform Committee …
  • Linda Klinge, the current vice president of the Oregon Chapter of the  National Organization for Women.
  • Shelly Mandell, president of the Los Angeles chapter of the National Organization for Women, also appeared in Henderson, and had previously endorsed Palin at a public rally in Carson, CA earlier this month.

The campaign has often had former Hillary Clinton supporters introduce Palin at campaign events since her nomination [including Dr. Lynette Long, whose writings you've read at No Quarter], in an attempt to win over disaffected Clinton supporters. After introducing the women, Palin sought to dispute the idea that the Democratic ticket would easily win the female vote.

"Our opponents think that they have the women’s vote all locked up which is a little presumptuous since only our side has a woman on the ticket," Palin said to strong applause.

Here’s the lead section of Political Radar’s story:

>ABC News’ Imtiyaz Delawala Reports: A day after Sen. Barack Obama campaigned with former Democratic rival Sen. Hillary Clinton in Florida, Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin slammed him for not seriously considering Clinton to be his second-in-command, citing Obama’s decision as an example of the barriers women face in the workplace.

"When it came time for choosing, somehow Barack Obama just couldn’t bring himself to pick the woman who got 18 million votes in his primary, and that seems to be too familiar a story isn’t it?" Palin said at a rally in Henderson, NV yesterday. "How it is for so many American women that the qualifications are there, but for some reason the promotion never comes?

In stronger language than Palin has used on the campaign trail before, the comments were part of a broader attempt to sell herself as an advocate for women and working numbers at a time when Palin’s support among women has slipped dramatically in national polls since becoming the Republican vice presidential nominee.

"You’ve got to ask yourself why was Senator Hillary Clinton not even vetted by the Obama campaign?" Palin continued. "Why did it take 24 years, an entire generation from the time Geraldine Ferraro made her pioneering bid until the next time that a woman was asked to join a national ticket?"

"In the long history of our country, 74 people have held the position of President or Vice-President, and why have the major parties given America only two chances to even consider a woman for either office?" Palin asked. "This glass ceiling, it is still there, but it’s about time that we shattered that glass ceiling once and for all."

[...]

Building on her theme of equal rights for women, ABC News reports, Sarah Palin next “sought to tie her critique of Obama’s tax plans with her support for working women.”

As all of you regular readers here know, Barack Obama pays female staffers far less than do John McCain and Hillary Clinton, but ABC News excuses that because Obama has more male staffers.

Palin sought to tie her critique of Obama’s tax plans with her support for working women, while charging that Obama does not pay women in his Senate office at the same level as men, raising the issue as one of "fundamental fairness" that she would address as an advocate for working women.

"Out on the stump he talks a good game about equal pay for equal work, but according to the Senate pay roll records women on his own staff get just 83 cents for every dollar that the men get," Palin said of Obama. "That’s 9,000 dollars less every year that he pays the guys. Does he think that the women aren’t working as hard? Does he think that they are 17 percent less productive?"

The Palin campaign cited press reports from last month and Senate records to back its claims on Obama’s pay to Senate staffers. The discrepancy, however, appears be that more top level staffers in Obama’s Senate office are men, and therefore have higher pay. The Obama campaign points to the many senior-level female staffers currently employed on the presidential campaign trial. …

Excuses, excuses.

While we’re talking about women, can anyone tell me where in the hell Michelle Obama is? Is she too assertive, too blunt, too acrimonious and divisive to be seen? Must she be kept hidden to protect her husband’s campaign?

Has Obama’s campaign “tested” the effect of Michelle Obama’s visibility versus her invisibility? Does Obama lose a point or two in the polls when she’s seen and heard?

I’m just curious. But it’s good that the Republican candidates proudly let their female candidates and partners speak.

It is notable, though, that neither Cindy McCain or Sarah Palin has ever felt compelled to mention that their husbands are “stinky” in the morning or can’t remember to put the butter away.

And I’ve never heard the husband of either woman mention, frequently, that his wife reminds him constantly how imperfect he is — like Barack Obama does. (In his speeches, Obama uses the example of Michelle’s criticisms to convey to rally crowds that he is an imperfect man, but the frequency with which he makes the reference sets off alarms for me.)

In contrast, Sarah Palin always speaks positively about her husband. In yesterday’s speech, she praised her husband’s help in allowing her the time to attain her political goals and the importance of KEY legislation that has helped women:

Palin praised her husband Todd for his support while she has pursued her political career, while saying said that federal laws need to better support working mothers — especially those in households without a father.

"I’ve been very, very blessed to have a husband who’s supported me along the way. He’s a great dad who doesn’t disappear at bath time or run from diaper duty, and I appreciate that," Palin added. "But a lot of women have it much, much harder than I’ve had it. And they need child care, which today can cost some families a third of their household budget. And they need reforms in labor laws that allow greater flexibility in the workplace, including more tele-commuting. And they need a tax code that doesn’t penalize working families."

As she has done before on the campaign trail, Palin cited the positive impact that Title IX had on her career.

"Women of my generation were allowed finally to make more of our own choices with education, with career, and I have never forgotten that we owe that opportunity to women, to feminists who came before us," Palin said. "The belief in equal opportunity is not just the cause of feminists, it’s the creed of our country — equal opportunity."

Palin said that if elected, she would seek to spread that opportunity to other women around the world, especially for those in countries facing persecution where women are "murdered in honor killings, places where women are sold like commodities in the nightmare world of the sex trade, and places where baby girls are unwelcome as a matter of state policy and their mothers are forced to have abortions."

“Now no one person, no one leader, can bring an end to all of those ills, to all of the injustices inflicting upon women,” Palin said. “But I can promise you this, if I am elected, these women, too, will have an advocate and a defender in the 47th vice president of the United States.”

We bash the MSM all the time here. While this ABC News report isn’t perfect, it is rich in detail and direct quotes, and it gave all of us who didn’t see Palin’s speech a great picture of her messages in her speech yesterday, as well as the stories of the prominent women who stood with Sarah Palin.

And I think it is notable that Sarah Palin is GROWING as a candidate. Her delivery and the construction of the thoughts behind her remarks are excellent. There’s no doubt, in my mind, that as vice president, she will grow and learn and work very, very hard to represent this nation proudly.

I know I haven’t been commenting much, bud Bud, as a Hillary supporter, this is really off track.

Bud White, thanks! I agree 100%

Do you recall at the start of the primary, when Michele still looked angry and disheveled and barky and was still unlocked from her cave?

Michele said of Hillary insultingly — “She didn’t both cleaning her own house. So, how does she think she can clean the White House”?

Michele diminished and insulted Hillary before it became the primary strategy for the Obambi-Axelrod campaign….I just can’t imagine this angry vitriolic woman who allowed her 2 daughters to witness the racism and obscenities at the pulpit by Rev. Wright in Trinity….she’s unfit to be a mother!

Comment by newton | 2008-10-22 16:07:53

A month or so ago, I had the realization that Michelle doesn’t seem to like white women very much. All you need to do is to look at her eyes. In the Gospels, Jesus said that the eye is the window of the soul, that if it causes you harm, get rid of it. I have looked at pictures of her, and have seen her eyes, and they seem to speak this one word to me: hate.

I would not be surprised if his campaign aides have come to the same conclusion, and have advised her to stay off the podium or the cameras until her husband has the keys to the White House.

Well I’m glad to see that because I just read Ben Bernake just endoresed Obama. I’m not sure what to make out of that. I think Bernake is a complete snake. Camp Obama is doing what they did in the primaries - rolling out these endorsements to steam roll the competition.
I really can’t stand Obama. Really.

Comment by JoseyJ | 2008-10-22 09:34:06

We’ve had a Puppet for president for 8 years and now Bernake is endorsing another Puppet!
The media corporations and their Wall Street sponsors that have promoted Oblahma 24/7 will want SOMETHING in return!

Comment by Felizarte | 2008-10-22 10:03:51

OF all the endorsements, Bernanke’s is the one that upsets me the most. I had suspected all along that this economic crisis was contrived to boost Obama’s candidacy. Because the problems that were addressed could have been done long ago but why only now? Bernanke, of all people, as chairman of the Federal Reserve Board, knew, more than anyone in the country, the state of the economy. Like the manipulators they all are, and that includes Paulson, Barney Frank, Pelosi, they have stacked the deck against the only candidate now who is promising reform. Now I am sure it is this same group that made sure Hillary was out of the way and now they are ganging up on McCain to make sure he does not ever get to do the reforms he promised.

Dear God, only You and the people can save this country now.

Comment by dgr | 2008-10-22 10:40:11

I think the Bernanke and Powell endorsements are the equivalant of albatross around the neck for the Obama candidacy. They bring nothing, the public knows who they are and what they have done. Not a good thing at all, in my book.

Comment by Hope Floats! Flush Twice! | 2008-10-22 14:39:51

Bernanke defied the Bush administration, climbed in bed with Congressional Democrats “to prevent mortgage foreclosures” and did more to change the framework for how central banks operate in crises (or kill capitalism, depending on how you look at it) than any other single person since Richard Nixon. I am no fan of Bush, but Bernanke and Paulson acted independently of the President. In the end, Bush’s gullibility / corruptibility is the strongest argument against him, or Obama for that matter.

He allowed the Fed to accept assets of debatable value - MBS, car loans and credit card debt — as collateral for some Fed loans. For the first time ever, he installed Fed regulators inside investment banks to inspect their books. He was responsible for the freeze of interbank lending, and he insists on trying to prop up the sagging housing market. Bernanke insists on doing everything wrong. WHY? He’s not stupid.

Comment by lark | 2008-10-22 09:44:05

If Bernanke endorsed Obama he should be immediately fired by Bush. Instantly. He is not suppose to endorse anyone and it would be the height of corruption and intervention in the elections. That in itself would disgrace the country in front of all international markets and make us comparable with a Kremlin administration.

Comment by typewriterstreaming | 2008-10-22 09:53:41

That’s what I think: Bernanke should at least be called out on this. WTF is going on in this country? Where is the outrage???

REVIEW & OUTLOOK OCTOBER 21, 2008 Bernanke Endorses Obama
There was a time when Fed chairmen feared to even seem political.Ben Bernanke apparently wants four more years as Federal Reserve Chairman. At least that’s a reasonable conclusion after Mr. Bernanke all but submitted his job application to Barack Obama yesterday by endorsing the Democratic version of fiscal “stimulus.”

Who cares? All it really tells us is who is thinking politically and positioning.

It’s not relevant to real issues.

I think the media is busy trying to dispel that notion…

Obama’s character is the primary reason he lost my vote. I am astounded that some Americans do not care about his ethics. He is a manufactured, high gloss product with tons of money to sell him to the consumerists in our society. IMHO, the Obama brand will prove to be a lemon when it is purchased, just like W.

I get up every morning and go to this poll. Its the only thing that gives me hope.

I don’t get it, yesterday I thought they had McCain ahead slightly in the polls, today they say Obama is 10 ahead!

This is going to be the longest two weeks. I’m afraid BO’s election is bought and paid for, unfortunately.

Comment by WasLNbutNoBamaBotsKeepStealingMyName | 2008-10-22 09:58:39

No Alice! It’s not over until we vote. The Dems WANT all of us to feel this way, so we won’t vote. I say NO, I will not give up on my country.

Just look at the money Barky threw at some of the states when he was running against Hillary and how the polls had her down and out and she still won.

Money is nice, but it cannot buy everything.

Ann have said before that I always find your posts interesting and respected your point of view. Have to disagree with you on this one. IMHO Obama is far from “just a Democrat.” I am not sure about the world going to fail if he is elected, but we can probably be quite sure that things are going to be significantly different in this country. But then, I guess I am one of those who is “downright stupid.”

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-10-22 10:05:58

There’s a huge gap between the media polls and the major polls.

Each polling group uses a different “slant.” If they decide that turn-out will be 52/38, for example, that drives up the percentage Obama is ahead.

Nobody really knows what the turn-out will be in the Dem ranks this year.

The influx of the youth voters is usually around 11%. Could be higher this year.

So the pollsters who have him high are giving more weight to Dem turnout.

I look for trends only. The polls are actually tightening. There’s a good reputable pollster….Battleground….who is showing much tighter numbers in the state polls now. It’s on RCP, if you’re interested. (real clear politics)

Comment by Susan | 2008-10-22 10:53:49

Alice - ignore the polls! IMO they are being manipulated by the MSM to get their guy elected. Dont forget during the primaries they were trying to tell us he would win NH, OH, PA and TX! They want to depress McCain turnout - let’s not let that happen. I am acutally hoping for the reverse effect - if Obama supporters get complacent, maybe they won’t turn out - like they didn’t for Kerry and Gore!

This was a terrific talk she gave. I’m very glad to see she’s tackling the women’s issues head-on. It’s perfect timing, in my opinion. The polls keep showing a shift of this voter group. So they are NOT locked up.

I thought the interview on Greta was very interesting and thought-provoking. I hadn’t considered that the personal type of coverage women receive evokes strong negative or positive reactions. I HAD thought it was more about the intense competitiveness of this GE and the tactics used to discredit the “other guy,” (including poor ole’ Joe the Plumber)!

Not knowing much about the stock market, and speaking like an idiot, if Bernanke endorsed Obama, then he undermined everything he has done since he began his tenure, he just undermined the bailout, and I would not be surprised if the Dow sinks 1000 points and the economy really really sinks for at least until the next president is sworn in January. It is unconscionable if he endorses any candidate. That makes me sick to my stomach. How can we fix what’s wrong when the people at the head are completely corrupted to the core and don’t know what morality means.

Good for Palin! The issue of the way women are treated in America needs to be raised. I know women in America have it pretty good compared to the way women are treated in many, many countries. But until the U.S. can really address this issue, we won’t have standing to address it, as we most definitiely should, in other countries.

Hillary was right: Women’s issues are human rights issues.

Obama still seems to think women are not as important unless they serve him.

The idyllic Precious the propagandists want us to believe is a far cry from the real one. The way he treats women gives us a glimpse of the real Precious. What he, his followers and the propagandists have done sets back human rights and the quest for true equality a generation. Yet another reason we must defeat him. Show the world America at its core does not embrace prejudice against any group.

This is all a set-up. Why if McCain loses do people not riot? Especially with what is going on in Ohio! The Zogby poll is just plain wrong. The NC numbers are wrong as well. While it may be closer than in years past, McCain will win here in NC.

This is just like what was mentioned in a previous thread…that Odinga skewed the polls to make it look like there was fraud. Obama is doing the same.

This article makes me sick. The MSM makes me sick. I am just plain sick of the Obama love fest. It is a sham! I can guarantee that the exit poll number on Nov. 4th will be wrong and I am sure the Obama campaign will use it to their advantage.

BREAKING NEWS!!!!

I just went into town and found out Obama is coming to Leesburg, VA. today. He is scheduled to be at the Ida Lee Park @ around 5:30.

If you live in or near Loudoun County, Virginia, now is your chance to confront the Media.

I am seriously considering making up a I’M JOE THE PLUMBER’S WIFE, I’M JOE THE PLUMBER, and I’M JOE THE PLUMBER’S KID shirts for my family and making signs that say “Any Questions?”

I think if we can get some plunger weilding protestors out en masse, we can confront the MSM that will be all over this place today. I can walk there from where I live, and I am quite tempted to show up.

Palin has single-handedly opened up discussions in our culture about women’s rights, how women are viewed and treated, where the future paths lie for young women, and solutions. Above all….solutions.

If Hillary started the dialogue, Sarah is now expanding it.

Can a woman be both a feminist and pro-life? Obviously, the answer is yes. Her stance is clear on a personal level. Her political stance is equally clear. Leave it to the states to decide. Given the current movement for states to embrace more liberal cultural policies, such as marriage between same-sex partners, I fail to understand the big “fear” over Roe VS Wade.

I thought Susan’s question was also relevant. Where IS Michelle. I know she was also a female figure who upset people. The Obama campaign chose to hide her. John has taken a much more admirable tact. No hiding Sarah. I don’t like how Obama has hidden Michelle away. She, too, was a bit too loose initially, but she also grew as a political wife figure. You won’t catch her now saying something out of order is my guess.

I’m delighted to see how Sarah has breathed life into not only McCain’s campaign but also into the entire discussion of what truly is liberal thinking. I’ve been NUTS over the obvious left-wing rigidity and divisiveness. I think they have harmed the country already with their rhetoric and anger.

I feel absolutely convinced that a lot of the Obama supporters are equally uncomfortable with this tactic. Just as I’d hate it if John actually used race as a way to win, I can’t stand the sexism and ageism demonstrated daily by the far left. It’s just plain ugly and dangerous.

Comment by Don | 2008-10-22 12:55:52

“Where IS Michelle. I know she was also a female figure who upset people. The Obama campaign chose to hide her.”

Could this part of the reason that Michelle is not accompanying Obama to see his ailing grandmother? She just might upset her a little too much! But then as I recall when Obama went to visit his grandmother during his Hawaii vacation for that hour, Michelle and the girls did not accompany him either.

Just seems a little odd to me that the great grand children are not taken to see their great grandmother, either during the Hawaii vacation or now that she is ailing. I could see maybe not when she is ailing, although in my personal experience, in my father’s last lucid moments his request was to seem his grandsons once more.

Frankly though I have to admit that IMHO Obama has a motive other than visiting his ailing grandmother for this sudden trip to Hawaii, especially since his grandmother was recently released from the hospital and allowed to return to her home and since he apparently is not going to be there on her 85th birthday. Oh well, JMO.

I think it’s important that Governor Palin address these traditionally “women’s issues,” and it’s important that American women redefine feminism … or should I say, SELF-define feminism. It’s true that the left has co-opted the label, and unfortunately this has led to the word feminism in many circles as being considered a dirty word.

I remember at university in the early ’90s that so many of the young men and women I knew looked upon the term feminism as a bad word. These were people who, if asked about the fundamental tenets of feminism, agreed, but would not label themselves. I never understood this and it offended me. I suspect it is the same today in universities across the country. Otherwise, more young women would be supporting the McCain-Palin ticket.

There is room in the feminist agenda for differing viewpoints, there is room for wisdom acquired through life experiences that take women down different paths. There has to be. Women will never be equal with men unless and until we embrace each other as equals.

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-10-22 09:58:30

Absolutely. I know that so many writers and university types are actually quite insular. They have not walked or worked, even, in a community of diversity. It’s all pretty theoretical to them.

Those who do involve themselves in a broader life learn very quickly that people have a variety of opinions, are NOT nearly so stupid as one’s professors might have suggested in the past, and actually are very centered and mature. And they may even disagree with you. *haha

The arrogance that is constantly fed by being a part of a minority group slowly fades away.

These are the women who will be the next generational leaders, in my opinion.

Not the Maureen Dowd types.

The negativism and cynicism of the left intellectual community has fully bloomed this year.

It’ll now die a natural death. People just can’t tolerate that type of outlook that is so bereft of goodwill, of any sense of something bigger than themselves.

I’m an optimist. I think good things will come of this election.

Comment by WasLNbutNoBamaBotsKeepStealingMyName | 2008-10-22 10:20:32

AnninC, I totally agree with you that the intellectual, elitist left has fully flowered and now their bloom is beginning to fade and will soon drop from the vine.

Feminist

the doctrine advocating social, political, and all other rights of women equal to those of men. (from Dictionary.com)

Many people don’t even know the meaning of the word feminist.

In the USA women are NOT equal to men and we will not be equal under the law until the ERA is passed.

I think the women who have stood with her, too, need a real “Atta Girl.”

One of the most alarming problems of the primaries was watching how no female politicians spoke out. They let the misogony go on without comment.

It was as though they were deeply afraid to speak up for women.

That was the most discouraging thing I’ve ever witnessed. The true subjugation of women was obvious.

Ladies.

When this is over and the dust has settled There needs to be a comming together of all factions of the “Woman’s Movement”

“NEVER AGAIN”! Must be made to mean something that all sexist fear and respect.

The sexist in the MSM, especially MSNBC, must be purged.

Women make up over 50% of the population!

Women control 83% of all domestic spending in the United States!

That’s POWER!

You need to harness that power and send it into combat against the sexist enemies of women everywhere.

Seneca Falls N.Y. is the “Cradle Of The Woman’s Movement”.

It is in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region in Upstate Ney York.

It is 40 miles from Rochester which has a Covention Center, A first class Airport and is on both Amtrack and Greyhound lines.

It has everything you need to Host A Woman’s Convention.

It’s a great area on the off hours to Dine, Sight see and RELAX.

It is just the place to heal wounds, make new friends and cement new alliances.

The Summer of 2009 would be a good target time frame.

I live in the Rochester area, and if there is ANYTHING I can do to help you organize this Convention, you only have to ask.

This is a NEW CENTURY and your “Movement” needs to generate new directions and energy off the abuses heaped on TWO 21st CENTURY LEADERS, HILLARY and SARAH.

Good Luck PUMAS

The problem with watching Fox, is that you think the other networks MUST be talking about this stuff too…like how large Palin’s rallies are, Bidens gaffes, the state polls tightening. But when I look…nothing.

There is a concerted effort going on to get Obama elected. Hopefully it will turn out just like it did with Kerry. I know it is crazy..but the Nick kids choice for prez gives me hope. Only a 2% difference between Obama/McCain…it was a 13% difference between Kerry/Bush. Gotta have something to hold onto :-)

I think that’s due to the poll that reported that she hit the 50% mark as to people who do not think she’s ready to be president.

The fallacy on that is that people don’t really vote for a ticket based on the VP. That’s not a huge factor, in other words.

The Dems tried that with her. It pretty much backfired. It was looking as though she was running against Obama, and frankly, experience wise? She had HIM beat. Yes, he’s better at interviews now, but he sure wasn’t 18 months ago. He was just like her. He blew it often.

So they backed off from that tactic and tried ignoring her. That also hasn’t worked. You can’t ignore someone who is pulling in record crowds that now exceed Obama.

They tried tasergate. That hasn’t worked. Powell endorses Stevens, the guy headed to prison? Oh boy. Now, we’re going to make Todd into a villain because he tried to protect his family from the out-of-control guy with a state-issued taser gun? That bombed.

Now, they are down to criticizing her suits.

Doesn’t is always come back to a woman’s clothes?

great post Susan!

the democratic Feminist women who are standing with and for Sarah Palin are truly American Feminist patriots.

i am so thrilled to see them come out strongly and clearly for Gov Palin and Sen John McCain, as well as for ALL women.,

if elected, Mac/Palin will be harbingers of change in Washington. the DC insider dem elite are scurrying about with the tails down right now. i think they will finally get the message that many of Hillary’s women and men will not be coming back into the fold. no offence Hillary, but it ceased being about you personally months ago, but the dem propagandists will blame you for obama’s loss anyways. you know..it’s never the bobo’s fault for anything, or anyone who questions him. he is a petulent fraud, not fairly chosen by the electorate and i do not buy what the obamacoup is selling.

my admiration for Gov Palin is genuine.
my gut level sense of the rightness of Palin is challenged often by the leftist feministas , as if their way is the one true way for all women. sadly, before this election cycle, i was like them in many ways.

the overwhelming misogyny and classism in the primary, and now in the GE from the obamacoup, has opened my eyes and my mind about many things .one of which is that i no longer demonize the republican party with a blanket null and void.

this gathering of prominent and not so prominent Feminists in support of Palin and the McCain/Palin ticket is astounding to me.

this is big, capital B.

can’t wait to cast my vote for McCain/Palin.

I hope the women writing and reading here are sharing this information with their women friends and colleagues - in droves. If we don’t convince a LOT of people to get out and talk about these issues and VOTE for our own future - we’re doomed.

Obama obviously does not care about women. He pays them 77 cents on the dollar compared to men. He calls them “sweetie” in public, he allows his wife to carry and pack all the belongings before their so called “vacation” to Hawaii, he did NOTHING to defend Hillary Clinton’s unfair and sexist treatment by the media and by several members of the Democratic Party. He comes from a long generation of women abusers like his father, like Odinga.

In addition he has lied, cheated and stolen his way into this election according to all information I’ve researched and it’s time to take it back.

You know, my personal experience is that in real life, most of us are avoiding talking politics, unless we already know that we’re compatible.

It’s just too hot of a topic this year.

I trust people to make up their own minds. I spoke up when the Palin bashing was going on once. So my friends know where I stand.

They also know I’m far more liberal than they are, so if I’m voting McCain, I figure that’s enough to give them pause for thought.

But directly talk about it?

Frankly, not this year. I’d like to keep my buddies!

Comment by FembotsForObama | 2008-10-22 17:55:56

Thanks Ann for the tip! I’ve thought about writing a letter to my friends about why I’m voting for McCain. And like you I’m much more liberal and politically active than my friends, or anyone else I know for that matter. I don’t want to lose friends over someone as not worthy as Obama.

Just saw the original “Stepford Wives” and kept thinking how my friends are becoming more like that every day, blindly casting their support to Obama and the neo-progressives.

There should be a special ad or vid put out with this lie documented to reduce Barbara Water’s cred. I don’t care if women do better when they stick up for each other (topic of the thread, remember?). They also have to call BS on the BS, or there won’t be any feminine progress. If the bad results of people blindly sticking together over some one characteristic like race or party or gender aren’t abundantly clear by now, they won’t ever be. Women will have progress when they truly rise and fall on their merits, not from either sympathy or bitchiness.
I’m still a little sore that someone would think I personally have a defeatist, poor-me outlook on women’s place in the world when I grew up being told that my place in life was to produce babies and I set out to prove I could do that and everything else too, and successfully. I never thought it should be necessary for women to have to work ten times as hard as men, at jobs considered lowly in society, to get half the credit and twice the (baseless) criticisms. I’ve been mad about that since I noticed the bias, which was probably when my brother came along (age 2).

It cheers me no end to see someone of my generation (Hillary) rise so high. It depresses me to see people now bashing her for not having what it takes to overcome the massive machine apparently against her. Geez. Try to get a perspective on what an achievement it was in the first place and not shoot down the foundation builder. It cheers me again to see Sarah step right into Hillary’s spot and carry on where Hillary could not. She is honest and direct and fearless and not out to please a man at the cost of her integrity. This is what is absolutely killing BO and the man-pleasing, self-loathing misogynist women that he attracts.

We war baby and early boomers did our best to get women forward and succeeded more than anyone under 50 can appreciate, now where is the expected blossoming from the 30-50 age group? It seems like there are more assertive women and more entrepreneurs. What are they going to do if they do attain a parity of recognition? I hope there are more Sarahs out there and they can keep up the high standard. We need some better role models for women to keep coming up.

Has Bush endorsed Obama yet? Doesn’t that sound ridiculous? Just the same, it wouldn’t surprise me at all.

I’m a long time feminist and I’m standing with Palin.

It really strikes me as ironic, Michelle Obama claims she is not a feminist, she doesn’t like labels, she might agree with some of “their” ideas, but she’s not a feminist. And Obama, oh boy, he’s full of misogyny. But Sarah Palin and Cindy McCain both proudly call themselves feminists. They make no bones about it.

So what does places like NOW do? Declare that the actual women standing proudly and wearing the feminist label are the “anti-feminists.” And who are the new icons of feminism? A misogynistic man and the wife who thinks feminism is a dirty word.

Does the comment necessarily have to refer to looks? How about attitude? I have generally thought of females as more reasonable and caring (of course there are exceptions) than males and I certainly don’t get those feelings from Michelle

Mrs. Obama climbed on the back of generations of feminists to get where she is today and yet she has not knowledge or understanding of the history of American Feminists.

Mrs. Obama — you can go to hell!

Feminist = the doctrine advocating social, political, and all other rights of women equal to those of men.

It’s not rocket science.

Comment by Galt, Master Thrall of Planet Triskelion | 2008-10-22 10:55:25

I hanker for compromise as you do. In Bidenesque, “compromise” is a four letter word. Extremists in both parties tend to control the agenda.

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-10-22 11:05:13

Well, thank you! That’s all I’m saying.

Surely, even most Republican women at this point are flipping tired of this discussion.

It seems so obvious to me. Let the middle take over.

Here’s how I see it.

Keep birth control discussions out of public schools. It makes people nuts. It’s not worth it, and none of the kids listen anyway. I personally think that everyone LOVES those health classes where they make people carry around the robot babies. Boy, we all agree on that one. Make the kids aware, yes!!!!

Keep the medical privacy for teens private. I think the Moderate Republicans concede it’s true: Some girls are at risk from their families. Let them seek medical help without having to have parental consent.

Offer alternatives. Girls today really do have opinions on abortion versus keeping the baby versus adoption. Just give them information. Let them decide.

I honestly think we agree on much more than we disagree.

Comment by Hope Floats! Flush Twice! | 2008-10-22 15:47:02

Actually, Joe Biden thinks F-U-N-N-Y is a four letter word, while J-O-B-S is only three.

Comment by skepticle | 2008-10-22 10:58:56

Palin is not for legislating. Her personal belief is to council against an abortion but is not for jailing people who would.

Stop spreading your irrational fear. And use a search engine before deciding to make a jackass out of yourself.

Representative of the conversation was Palin’s response when Couric asked her a hypothetical question aimed at getting her views on abortion: “If a 15-year-old girl is raped by her father,” Couric asked, “do you believe it should be illegal for her to get an abortion — and why?”

“I am pro-life,” Palin said. “And I am unapologetic in my position that I am pro-life. …Now I would counsel to choose life….”

“But ideally,” Couric persisted, “you think it should be illegal for a girl who was raped or the victim of incest to get an abortion?”

“I’m saying that, personally, I would counsel the person to choose life despite horrific, horrific circumstances that this person would find themselves in. …”

But then she added that she wouldn’t want to see anyone sent to jail for having an abortion.

Sarah Palin and Katie Couric discuss abortion, gay rights, global warming…

Just about every voter out there has seen this. As well as Charles Martin’s website that debunks every lie about Sarah Palin floating around cyberspace… like rape kits. Interestingly, Illionois charges the victim. Google it, if you don’t believe me. Alaska DOES NOT.

When Sarah Palin says I WOULD CHOOSE LIFE, she is speaking for herself. When she speaks about CULTURE OF LIFE, she is talking about a scenario where other women might FREELY choose a similar decision. She is pro-life, and she believes states should decide how pro-choice they are. Because the goal is FEWER ABORTIONS, something Barack Obama claims to support. Subsidizing abortions at the federal level seems like a stupid way to achieve that, but that’s why we enjoy healthy debate in this country.

Your lies and fear-mongering don’t really help there, Dumbcicle. But you’re not here to help.

I think that the polls are so biased for N0bama that when he doesn’t win the Dems have planned riots to prevent McCain and Palin from taking office. They will be spouting things like “no more stolen elections”. It is a clever ploy. It is so Rovian. the Omamamanics think the corrupted polls will suppress the GOP vote, it will propel people to jump on the Nobama bandwagon, and it will give excuse to riot or whatever when/if he loses. Good tactic and the Mainstreet Corporate Media is at the forefront of this. Have you ever seen the media lynch a conservative in the last 50 years? Does anyone think the media has changed its stripes?

Planned riots? The feds would be on top of this and would pounce on the organizers.

“no more stolen elections” ? That’s a laugh, considering The Precious stole the nomination. Would be a hard case to make in light of this fact.

Clearly there are some serious issues in this election. Best thing to do is to make sure Mac is elected. You got one part right, the polls are nonsense. They are nonsense to keep turnout down. I predict this won’t work. The GOP base is on fire and they have is PUMAs.

Your riot scenario is exactly the kind of fear The Precious wants out there.

I just came back to Fl after a week-end bus trip from NYC to Scranton, Pa, with PUMA folks. The group was so diverse. We must have looked like a traveling UN.
I came back so positive from all that positive energy, and from the great response

“When it came time for choosing, somehow Barack Obama just couldn’t bring himself to pick the woman who got 18 million votes in his primary, and that seems to be too familiar a story isn’t it?” Palin said at a rally in Henderson, NV yesterday. “How it is for so many American women that the qualifications are there, but for some reason the promotion never comes?

“You’ve got to ask yourself why was Senator Hillary Clinton not even vetted by the Obama campaign?” Palin continued. “Why did it take 24 years, an entire generation from the time Geraldine Ferraro made her pioneering bid until the next time that a woman was asked to join a national ticket?”

Way to go Sarah ..reach out and say what is right !!!

Assaulting Sarah Palin should be seen by any intelligent person for what it is. Jealousy and fear. This woman has nothing negative about her and certainly nothing as vile as Obama in her background. How can people even discuss Palin in a negative light? Maybe they should go look at Obama’s disgusting past and lack of experience first. WTH? As for the women who eat their own? Nothing is worse than how horribly women can treat other women. I have said it 100 times…the glass ceiling would shatter a lot faster if women didn’t crap on other women. I am officially ashamed of my gender this year. Seeing so called “feminists” attack Palin for NO reason other than envy, fear, jealousy and self hatred has made me sick. The old and new media elite have this in common: they are an elite club which doesn’t look kindly on outsiders. The Clintons were interlopers when they came to Washington.

The unending hatred that lasted for decades was dictated by a class war more than anything.

Bill Clinton once answered the question: “why do they hate you so much?”

“Because I won. They thought they were entitled to the power, and I took it away from them”

Populist Palin would soil their expensive carpets as well (Not David Brooks shrieks against common people being elevated to decision making).

The media is closing ranks to repare the shattered glass ceiling.

They are also guarding the castle from the unwashed masses. Palin. Clinton. Joe the Plumber. Ewwww!

skepticel, Palin has NEVER SAID ABORTION SHOULD BE ILLEGAL.
Take a deep breath.
She has said that it should be in the states hands. You know the way our constitution was designed to distribute power in our country.
Your an idiot.
Also, do you believe life begins at conception? If you do, then how could YOU advocate the murder of a child? Regardless of rape, the child did nothing.
There must be compromise, not extreme ideology. Palin has stated there needs to be middle ground to reduce the number of abortions.

Also, for rape. After Palin took office she put tough laws on the books for rapists. SHe also put laws on the books for DNA of the rapist to be put in a national database.
Do not play stupid and make false accusations because you think abortions should be the new birth control skeptic.

I love how you angry leftist’s think it is bad for a WOMEN to advocate for a culture of life. I thought according to you she had a right to choose? She did choose and she erred on the side of life.
Or, is it that the left only wants abortion to be the choice? Because you guys certainly sound that way.

I don’t think that the average person realize why the situation with Hillary happened and all of the internal mess in the DNC. I’m not part of that party, and I thank God I never was considering how vile and corrupt they are. Nevertheless, my Dem friends tell me there has been an ongoing war for some time between the elitist snots like Pelosi and her thugs, and the Clinton Dems, which IMO SHOULD be the heart of the party. Apparently that’s the explanation for why the DNC themselves were complicit in the fraud that stole Hillary’s nomination. Really clever. BO could lose this and Hillary would have won it. Guess that elitism might want to be rethought by that scum like Pelosi, Reid, Brazile and Dean. What horrible people they are. More power for that criminal crowd means the true end of America and its freedoms. If I were a Dem, I would stop sending money, stop supporting the party, vote up and down ticket GOP and tell them “no thanks” until the party becomes what it used to and should be.

The reason Hillary won Mass?

Because the die-hard Dems there KNEW that the one election where Ted was challenged? He panicked. He called in Bill and Hillary and they came in and pulled him through it.

They were appalled at his lack of gratitude and dug in their heels against his endorsement.

THEY won Mass for Hillary.

- I agree, the Clinton’s should be the heart of the Democratic Party.

I also IMMEDIATELY understood the fact that the elite Dems used Obama to take out the Clintons. There is no way he could have gotten this far without the blatant help/cheating and approval of Pelosi, Dean and other high-ranking Dems.

Only hate can explain why a party, that claims they want to win, but overlooks Hillary and her 18 million votes.

And I know some folks are upset that Hillary is still out there “campaigning for Obama”… But you know, maybe there are things going on behind the scenes that we don’t know about.

Bill has already told us that anyone who meets the qualifications under the Constitution can be President…And if we find out that Obama is not, then I see Hillary as “campaigning for Democratic policies”, so if Obama goes down, she can pick up the pieces.

The old feminism was not about me and I could not find my life anywhere in it. I like what this is turning into, a place for ALL women. We don’t have to agree on all issues, but we can agree that promoting women helps us every one of us.

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-10-22 11:30:46

I know a lot of us agree with you.

I knew back in grad school that the academic version of feminism bored me to tears. It was all talk, no walk.

I wanted the real thing, so I got into corporate work. (What a lesson!)

I think the Dowds of the world are the chickens, frankly. They just wrap themselves in some kind of cocoon. They remind me of people who never do anything on Sunday but hang out with their mothers and eat pot roast. *haha

I think while everyone was “sleeping,” the real doers of the world were out running for office, becoming governors, taking over major arms of corporations, starting their own businesses. WHILE not getting caught up in the abortion argument or whether they should or shouldn’t wear high heels or show cleavage. (That’s the dummie path.)

What matters is what you accomplish. Period.

Nobody can take away your record. They can try to minimize it, diminish it, tarnish it, etc.

But my personal experience makes this very clear. What you actually accomplish in life, the results, are what matters.

They threatened to disempower her in the party if she didn’t tow the line. Very sad. We ALL know what happened in Denver, the Caucus Fraud, the theft of the nomination, etc. and then to see the Clintons being trotted out like monkeys for Obama is humiliating and disgraceful. The only comfort we can have is knowing that on November 4 the Clinton family we cast their votes for McCain. I have also always thought that Hillary had some kind of hand in picking Palin with her FRIEND McCain. Rumors were flying after Denver that the Clintons were secretly helping McCain with campaign strategy. I bet it’s true. Now let’s hope McCain hands the DNC a big loss so they can douche that crappy party of all the detritus.

I just read the comments at the ABC site where this article is posted–all the comments are from Neanderthals who just hate Palin. I run into these self-righteous Dems in my area all the time. They don’t see the hypocrisy as they trash her.

Well, this post finally triggered my vote for McCain–I have been wavering between Nader and McCain–it won’t make a difference here in CA but my daughter wants me to vote McCain and after this speech of Palin’s I’m going to send in my absentee ballot marked McCain today!

Self-riteous is truly the label for a great many latte-sippers.

Their politics is pretty fascinating to me. First of all, I find them incredibly naive. They think their income is safe? Hardly. Watch the downward slide.

Second, why are they so “needy” to align themselves with this transparent and obviously self-demeaning cause? Why take on guilt like that?

I have concluded that these are people addicted to a quick “feel-good” fix. They buy something. They “feel” good. They move into a bigger house. They “feel” good.

I imagine that they are, in fact, very scared.

Their entire lives are built on sand.

AnninCA,

You hit the nail on the head with your ‘Sunday with mom’s pot roast” observation. That is exactly the point I have made to people. Feminism embraced the “easy” microwave dinner (or have mom cook) life. This type of life never allows a woman the joys of realizing the fruits of labour. Hard work isn’t a bad word, it’s a means to an end, an often very rewarding end.

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-10-22 11:54:39

Thanks….I’m glad I found a way to express that.

Feminism isn’t an idea. It’s a set of personal choices.

Comment by barry bums a ciggie | 2008-10-22 12:21:43

Amen to that. I have an MBA and worked for years. I made a choice to stay at home with my two children for the last 5 years. I hear women talk about how having children have halted their career and they make cynical jokes about it. I just think that it’s a dangerous path to walk on. We, as women, should make choices based on our personal beliefs and not based on what society expects us to do.

Comment by FembotsForObama | 2008-10-23 14:05:10

Absolutely!

I’m one of those who spent my whole life devoted to my career and my party, and so what? What has other done for me? This is the first election season I won’t be slaving away for the Democratic Party. Let someone else do it. They have gotten enough of free time from me!

What Sarah (and Hillary) embodies is a woman who has done it all, enjoyed life in the process, and taken a different path from the ones society has taught us to follow. We women must set the example that a full life is the one to aim for, the one on our own terms, at our own pace. We are never too late in learning that lesson.

I won’t succumb to “The Progressive Dude Nation” that is sure to dominate us if Obama wins.

I do not know where this thing about a Bernanke endorsement came from. I watch a lot of news and saw nothing on it, but Bernanke’s testimony before congress, he did say he could support a stimulas. Now I don’t just know whether the American public is ready to go another $ $ 150,000,000,000 to $ 300,000,000,000 in debt for our kids to pay off.. Those are billions with a “B” One other thing, do not pay any attention to those national polls. Go to the state polls. Rasmussen today has McCain up by 9 in West Virginia, up by 2 in Ohio, up by 1 in Florida and down by 3 in North Carolina. Zogby has McCain up by 6.5 in Nevada, tied in Colorado and tied in New Mexico. An Obama staff person in Pennsylvania put out a memo to 700 people stating that his internal polling only has Obama up by 2 percent.

In the words of Shelly Mandell:

“I am a feminist before I am a democrat.”

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-10-22 12:18:05

Amen. That’s what I discovered about myself this year.

I’m a feminist before I’m any party affiliation.

I was surprised, too.

I had no idea how strongly I felt.

It is extremely difficult to support a party that labels well-intentioned white people “racists”.

It is not possible for me to support a party that allows women to be called “bitches” and “cunts” even if it means winning.

Hear hear. That sounds like the opposite of “unity.”

Here’s a video on FOX talking about kids spewing out lies about Palin in an internet video. I hope they find out who made it. Using kids to say stuff about rape and lies, that’s hitting below the belt.

I think Palin has greatly broadened the base of feminism. She has opened it up to the everyday person. For too long it has been nothing but the bastion of the academics and mostly reduced to a single issue - abortion.

I also am EXTREMELY thankful that she talked about the reality for women outside of the Western world. The horrific circumstances that women outside of the West find themselves in SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY ARE WOMEN is THE human rights issue of our time. It should be addressed constantly by the US.

Hopefully a McCain / Palin administration would make it a State department priority.

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-10-22 14:34:37

Amen….and that will always be her contribution, too.

Comment by Cooney | 2008-10-22 14:50:24

Thank God Almighty, someone is finally talking about this, we are invisisble to Obama. Palin needs to hammer this home for the remainder of the campaign. She can bring over to McCain all those disaffected women voters, especially older women. Keep it up Palin. Bravo!

Man, it is SO great to visit PUMA sites!…lol…

Why?

To read every day yet another personal story about a propaganda-lock being snapped; a formerly numb knee-jerk mind coming alive again!

I’m neither dem nor rep…I’m libertarian…and an agnostic….and the uncritical knee-jerk ‘follow every PC fad’ type of sociopolitical response by 90% of the population just freaking horrifies me. So any time I see a post that shows someone suddenly waking up to how they’ve been used by the powers-that-be, it lets me breath a tiny bit freer.

This post from earlier in this thread put a huge smile on my face…..

————-

“…my gut level sense of the rightness of Palin is challenged often by the leftist feministas, as if their way is the one true way for all women. Sadly, before this election cycle, I was like them in many ways.

The overwhelming misogyny and classism in the primary, and now in the GE from the obamacoup, has opened my eyes and my mind about many things. One of which is that I no longer demonize the republican party with a blanket null and void.”

————–

I offer a heartfelt “you go girl!” to that woman; because it IS hard to ’snap out of’ years and years of constant indoctrination and conditioning, and start thinking for oneself again…..start examining EVERY hype critically, and thinking about possible underlying motivations for why the ’system’ (gov/msm/big-money) might be pushing that particular feel-good notion.

I ask all recently awoken people only one thing: PLEASE apply your newfound wakefulness and awareness of how badly you’ve been duped and used as a tool, to ALL the subjects hyped by MSM…..to ALL the things we libertarians have been pointing out to you in vain for so many years. A couple examples…

Gun ‘control’: We told you it was a scam; and pointed to study after study showing crime going DOWN with increased gun-ownership, especially by (and empowering) women!

We did point out how absolutely LUDICROUS it was to penalize, restrict, and excoriate, upstanding gunowners when they aren’t the ones raping and killing people.

The “Eco”: yes, we all love the eco…..but unless you step back a bit and set aside the knee-jerk emotions (which is what left-gatekeepers and MSM are ALWAYS trying to excite, to block out critical analysis), you might not have noticed that the ‘eco’ movement stopped being about anti-pollution 20 yrs back, and was quietly morphed into a LAND-CONTROL movement benefiting big-gov, big real-estate money, and one-worlders.

Virtually every ‘eco’ fad that the MSM/gov whips the herd with these days ends up hurting the property-rights enshrined in our Constitution….YOUR property-rights too.

Here’s my own little epiphany, which hit me back in the 90’s:

The MORE the MSM is hyping something, the LESS true it is.

If they’re SWEARING to it, then it’s an absolute bald-faced LIE.

That may sound like only a bit of humor, but I’m telling you, since I first blurted it out while watching the news one day, my sharp and talented mate has been keeping track of various issues that prompt me to mention that ‘law’, and she says there is over a 90% correlation!

So seriously, it IS a true and accurate law you can use to evaluate the massive propaganda-machine that is MSM/hollywood/gov-pr.

So PLEASE…..I beg you…apply your new self-empowering propaganda-resistance to ALL the feel-good and PC crap hype they bombard us with every minute of every day.

Become a “contrary investor” in our -country-….in our -freedom-…in our -individuality-.

Yes, I’ll ask you to also respect and embrace even that ‘evil’ word: individuality…individualism, individual personal strength and integrity.

You can’t complain about Bush violating the Constitution in some way if YOU shouted support for violation of the Constitution in some other area.

Like favoring yet another so-called ‘eco protection’ that was actually a property-rights infringement in ‘pretty sounding’ disguise.

When you support the violation of ANY part of the Constitution, you weaken ALL of its wise provisions and protections of us.

Every single thing you support which concentrates more power in government TAKES power from us, the citizens.

By definition, asking and expecting “the government” to ‘do something’ or ‘fix’ things for you, is a damage to our own strength and rights. You can’t have it both ways.

Governments will ALWAYS have corrupt and amoral people in the top tier. It is INHERENT because every population always has a small number who are more ‘driven’, insatiable, and amoral than the rest of us; and that type will ALWAYS rise to the top of whatever hierarchy a society builds for itself.

The bigger you build it, the more room for sociopaths there is at the top. The more of your rights and powers you hand over and concentrate into that structure, the more power you are handing to those very same sociopaths-for-rent; and the big-money shadow-players who control them.

This will ALWAYS happen, no matter what label you put on your structure…democracy, socialism, capitalism, monarchy, whatever. It’s just plain human-nature and population-demographics.

So obviously, the ONLY way to avoid the exact kind of overpowering government/media/corp machines that’s crushing us today is to NOT build such a huge bloated government/structure in the first place.

Don’t -hand- them all our power in the first place.

Despite the shrieking tenor of the ‘progressive’ complaints on every subject, the fact is that our society HAS made tremendous changes and progress in every area already.

Eco….racism…..women’s rights….EVERY area they screech about. And FAST change isn’t necessarily a good thing anyway.

And sadly, while using those emotional-trigger issues to get and keep us worked up constantly, they’ve been expanding the size and -power- of government continuously for 40 years now.

Yet our country and society is in a huge mess now, even after 40 years of government ’solutions’; with many overwhelming problems, debts, deficits, and bleeding cultural faultlines.

Set aside all ideological knee-jerks for a moment and ask yourself; what is the only logical conclusion you can reach?

Big intrusive government, and our willingly making ourselves dependent on it for every freaking thing, DOES…NOT….WORK.

If you want to back out of all the problems we’re in, you MUST support backing out of the huge, cancerous governments you might’ve supported the build-up of. On all levels, fed, state, local.

You MUST support the repair of the PC-crap indoctrination-centers that our schools were turned into by uncritical knee-jerk support of the NEA, etc., etc..

From the many healthy PUMA comments (like the one above that I’ve seen recently), I finally have hope that we still have a tiny slim chance to reverse course, and not end up as serfs in a worldwide totalitarian welfare/police state.

But it will take everyone’s courage to finally say, for example:

“No, upon reflection, I actually DON’T think that land-control measure is a good idea; and even if I ‘liked’ it, it’s unconstitutional and I no longer support ANYTHING that isn’t in strict adherence to the constitution”.

Willingly supporting the concentration of power in big-gov, instead of retaining it in ourselves, is THE critical underlying issue which all our other problems and pernicious parasitic sociopaths squat upon. Let’s yank the rug out on the smug bastards!

Thanks very sincerely for listening to my admittedly long exposition, and even more, for -thinking- about it.

If you feel any resonance to it, then please pass it on to other people and places you associate with; and get them also to understand that the propaganda-mindlock they’ve just broken free of applies to ALL issues they’ve been hyped and duped on; not just the Obamahype.

Solidarity with your libertarian sisters and brothers! GO PUMA’s!
