Obama leading in the polls, advantages in money, favors from the MSM, the populace disdain for Bush, everything is going for BO. It just makes no sense for someone in a commanding lead to resort to fraudulent practices like ACORN’s to gain an unfair (and legally questionable) edge. He should not need it. In fact, any shrewd candidate in his position would shut down ACORN immediately to avoid any implication of impropriety.
Something is just not adding up!

Recall that he needed 5x spending over Clinton and still lost primaries. He can’t close the deal and needs every legal and potentially illegal advantage to be competitive and he’ll still likely lose.

Contrast that with McCain’s personality, rather self effacing, humble, hard on himself. He is the last person who would stage some elaborate fete — even if he were 20 pts. ahead. That is not who the man is.

Today (Oct. 23) the Obama campaign has agreed to pay for the cost of holding the election night event in Grant Park. Mayor Daley would have preferred that the event be held at the United Center as it would be easier to contain the crowds and require less police but that one’s campaign has agreed to pay for it. Why not since he has so much money coming in?
We can hope for a blizzard in Chicago on Nov 4.

I just donned my bright, shiny, new, copper-lined, silver plated tin-foil hat. Obama went to Hawaii so that, when it’s proven that BO is not a natural-born citizen, he can escape to Indonesia and avoid indictment on charges of fraud and/or being in the country illegally.

It is very irresponsible of him what he is doing for election night. It proves he is unfit for the presidency. He pretends to ignore how volatile and tinderbox prone the election night will be when the polls are showing a close election. If by any chance the election results are against him that night, the whole place will erupt with uncontrollable violence. His lack of apprehension for that problem shows he is not ready to be President.
Or or or he has an agenda that we will find out about it in due time.
Lark, you are so right. It will be 40 years since the Chicago convention riots in 1968, and this has the potential to make that horrible night look peaceful by comparison. A little quiet humility would be appropriate–NOT THIS!!!

People in Chicago aren’t too crazy about this. “Security experts” are being quoted on the local news about having lots of concerns about this arrangement. Mayor Daley suggested that the “party” be held at the United Center (where the Bulls play), but Michael Jordan’s place wasn’t good enough for BHO. Chicago is in a financial bind, and the buzz today that Obama is gonna be charged for this, as well as Homeland Security picking up some part of the tab. I think he should use his foreign donations to foot the whole bill. Why should Homeland Security come into play here for another self-aggrandizing production when we are at war and in a financial crisis. Oh, I forgot, it is all about the Obamas—our new first family. Maybe we could keep them out of the White House if they get their own reality show….Keeping Up with the Obamas.

And the MSM, his faithful, the ones he’s cowed into submition, and the rest of the world that send him tributes, have all fed the gaping maw that is his ego. Without that fuel he would be reduced to a frightened and disturbed five year old in a man’s body. When more and more insightful people realize this, a cataclysmic course of events might be averted.

I believe you’re onto something. Obama can’t close the deal because of the issue of trust or lack thereof. When caught in a lie, Obama dodges and dances and although he’s very good at it, this pattern is becoming more noticeable.

The average American naively believes that there is a process that all candidates have to go through to become POTUS: background check and so forth. If they only knew!

I was hoping it could backfire but now knowing that he will be getting the advise of Oprah and probably other Hollywood first class directors to prepare that production, I doubt it will backfire anymore. I don’t see how with the help of those people. So yes, I am expecting a real cool performance that night. I have too now.
So all my hopes that it would backfire because it would show just too much and too many programs and ideas and become extra complicated are out for me. Oprah is not going to let that happen.
I have to predict a real winner night on that. I am really worried about what McCain can do in a few days to put it down. I personally have the faintest idea. I don’t know but I am worried.
There is no reason to worry. This is Oblahblah’s last attempt to psych out a portion of voters & hope they won’t go to the polls…while at the same time, encourage his supporter to show up.
This is nothing more than a game to him. Don’t believe it. Go vote, keep telling people the truth. Have a little confidence in the American people. We’ll wake up on the 5th and this nightmare will be over.
And then we can start making changes so that this doesn’t happen again in our lifetime.

Regarding BO’s media advantage: I think the media bias is scaring people. It’s like a window into the future should Obama win, and reminds people of the ole USSR.

Also, I think the reports of gobs of people coming out to vote early will just do more to mobilize McCain supporters to get out and vote also.
These early numbers just say which party the voter is affiliated with and do not reflect the numbers of Dems who are voting, but who are voting for McCain. I know, because I’m one of them. I am purposely staying registered as a Dem until after the election, just for this reason.

I’m doing the same thing. I’ve kept my Dem affiliation until the day after the election. I started to switch after the Rules and Bylaws fiasco, but decided this would be the biggest gut punch I could deliver to the DNC. Registered Dem voting GOP.

In Ohio, you declare your affiliation by voting in a primary. So, like it or not, I’m a registered Dem for four more years. (Unless something unusual happens in a local race here that requires a primary, which I’ve never seen happen in my area.)

I just returned from a trip from LA to Phila.
On the train trip I talked to a lady who was an American Citizen living in Italy. She was going to Chicago to work for backtrack.
When I told her about ayers,rescko,auchi,wright,phleglar,acorn,the wall street money, the donations from the middle east, his vote on fisa. the campaign contribution change. She seemed shocked. I told her while you are in Chicago go see the apartment bldgs that he got federal money for rescko to rehab for the poor.
I explained PUMA to her.
I did not realize that other people were listening. When I was leaving the diner car many people gave me the high sign.
There is a silent wave of people who will not vote for backtrack all across this country.

It’s so true, I have intelligent friends who are floored when I tell them these things. They think I’m bs-ing them but when I give them facts and dates and all that, they are shocked. They don’t watch FOX and don’t blog, how would they know anything aside from what the bs media spoon feds them?
No kidding. I dine with teachers weekly. They are traditionally liberal. Not particularly well-informed.
This year, in CA, it’s hot, hot, hot! to talk politics. Today, the local teacher’s lounge exploded due to Prop 8 in our state. (That’s the proposition to make it a constitutional amendment that marriage is for man and woman only.)
NOBODY who wishes to keep friends is talking politics right now in my crowd. We debated freely during the primaries. Not now.
Everyone is playing it close to the vest, except for the nuts, of course.

I think elections are a lot more about ideas that emerge than about the “winner.” Bush flustered the country, since we’ve never seen someone so willing to lie to the public.
Obama definitely has that capacity. We’ve seen it repeatedly.
However, there’s no question that McCain has sent a very, very stong message.
He may NOT win, but I have a lot of deep optimism.
Not about the birth certificate stories, etc.
I’m optimistic that people were so enthused about a reformer candidate such as Palin. They gave her a real shot, in spite of the mainstream press.
That sends a big message.

Actually, the birth certificate story has gotten my attention.
At first, I thought it was a non-issue, but now it’s an issue for me. Mostly because he’s gone to such lengths to cover it up. Why do that?
A one page letter from a doctor saying he’s in good health, yet his campaign demands to see McCain’s records?
This is all too much like Bush. The Bushbots, the lying, the covering up. Like, Bush couldn’t produce something as simple as a DD214. All military people have them. I do. My husband does. And I know how to get copies, since I’ve done that. Bush said they “lost” his. His, and only his. I’ve never known anyone else, since 1974, whose DD214 got lost.
It’s all the covering up, the blatant lying. And then calling the other candidate out for the very thing you’re guilty of. These are nasty tactics, designed to get the person what they want, and I just don’t think they’re in my best interest.
Here’s something that keeps going through my head, about EITHER candidate or BOTH candidates:
Scenario 1:
What if you are a young-ish politician with aspirations to be a senator or governor, and before your career had even gotten off the ground, those around you shoved you into a presidential nomination, and much to everyone’s surprise, you secured a lead and had a better than 50/50 chance of winning–all this at a time when the country is collapsing into probable depression, Iran could realistically drop the bomb within four years, terrorists loom, natural disaster is at an all time high thanx to global warming, etc. etc. What if, shortly before election day–when you are riding in your plane on the way to your next campaign stop that is part of your year-long roller coaster ride that hasn’t stopped for a minute–what if you suddenly get the coldest of feet and realize, my god, what the hell am I doing? Do I actually want to take this on? Am I capable of taking this on? Do I actually want the destiny of the planet in my hands for the next four years when I’ve never even held a full-time job for that long? Do I really want to miss my little girls’ golden childhood years, playing softball with them, teaching them how to ice skate, doing a puzzle with them on a rainy day? As David Byrne once put it: My god! What have I done?
What if that were to happen?
Scenario 2: A 72 year old man realizes that this campaigning for the job he always wanted (and may well deserve) is fully exhausting, is taking years off his life, and he realizes that he may not be physically up for the presidency.
What if that were to happen?
Seriously, couldn’t BOTH of those scenarios be happening right now? Is it really so implausible? Just wanted to throw that concept out there.
Scenario #1: I’d say this one is impossible. BO/MO and whoever is pulling the strings has tasted power and they like it.
Scenario #2: John McCain is, above all, a dedicated public servant. He’s spent his whole life serving his country…this is his last chance to make a really big difference and to give back in a huge way, to leave a permanent legacy. No way he’s quitting.
I think your post is quite poignant. Before I really started to detest Obama, I thought maybe he would be a good VP for Hillary, and then after 8 years of her tutelage, he would be ready to be president. Honestly, I don’t see what his rush has been, and I think that scares me more than anything. Now that I know about all his connections, his own personal “fierce urgency of now” seems so much more sinister. Like there is something more happening beyond a person blinded by his ambition.
I think it is tragic to think that a true hero could possibly be brought down by someone so undeserving.
I’ve given some thought about why Obama HAD to do it this year. He could not afford to wait – he has a very carefully crafted background and a very sketchy record. 8 more years is way too much time allowed for anyone to take a close look at it.
For Obama – it’s now or never.
Hillary was correct – he can’t close the deal. He’s been running for Prescient for 2 years now AND people still don’t know who he is, still don’t trust him. He has black support, the FAR left and they impressionable kids — even with ACORN, I don’t think it’s enough.
We have to have faith in the silent majority and the American people. I heard Hank William Jr in an interview today — he laughed when they asked him about McCain being behind in the polls and said he did not have a single doubt McCain was going to win after being on the campaign trail with McCain/Palin for a couple of weeks.
I agree. I’ve always thought that he decided better to run on no record than on any record, given he’s an AA.
But then that opens him up for just what’s opened up….accusations of secrecy,etc.
He decided that was preferable. He’d play the race card.
He did.
I think his strategy has been played.
I can admire the handiwork, but I don’t think that’s good for the country. We need transparency.
That’s the one glich in his plan.

Ultimately, Obama’s not going to close the deal on November 4th. Most American voters simply don’t trust Obama. And they consider him too inexperienced. Those two reasons alone will finish him on Election Day. All of the other important problems with Obama are considered icing on the cake.
I think the most significant statement about the polls was that all the polls that show Obama way ahead have 9% plus undecided.

I suspect a lot more is happening here than the rise of a person blinded by ambition. Politicians by their very nature are personally ambitious, but they seldom ascend out of obscurity arcing toward the top like a rocket. Obama is either a focus of converging historical forces or a person chosen by Destiny. Take your pick.
Well, I think it’s pretty simple. We have a vacuum of leadership.
Pelosi, Reid, Dean……the DNC…..wanted a president in their pocket.
Obama was it.
Hillary was a real leader, and they didn’t want to be led.
They want a rubber-stamp guy.
Why? I don’t know that one.
They are complete failures. I honestly can’t fathom the arrogance that they must have to be so confident as to want to skew the power balance.
I can only guess that they are truly enthralled with their own ideas and power.
I’m glad I don’t “get” it.
That kind of arrogance is something that I just think is so heady and so dangerous. I can’t imagine dying, honestly, and knowing that I’d afected that many people’s real lives negatively.

The sum total, their endgame, is this:
A worldwide totalitarian welfare/police state
90% serfs, 9% nasty bureaucrats, 1% elite
I’m a libertarian, but I’m really pissed at friends who’re insisting on voting 3rd party again this round.

Anyway, Soros, Sandler, Buffet, Gates, Auchi, et al…is what this is all about. Obama’s nothing but a front-man for that gang.

Scenario #1 is an interesting thought, and any sane person in Obama’s position would naturally have second thoughts, but Obama is not sane. Gods do not second guess themselves.
The reason he is willing to spend a fortune on his campaign and victory party is not because he will have won the Presidency, but because he is trying to get EVERYONE to love him. He won’t ever be satisfied if only 51% of the people support him, it will eat him up when he ponders why 49% don’t love him. He mentions Hannity frequently because it deeply bothers him that there is someone out there that doesn’t love him. In his interview with O’Rielly, he behaved like the little boy that he is inside, and made every effort to get Bill to love him. I feel sorry for Obama because he was abandoned by his father, and then his mother, and he will forever try to compensate for that loss, but what he really needs is therapy, not the Presidency.
I guess the ad is racist because there’s no black person in it….snark….
It is a good ad, but I wish it DID have a black person in it!!
Well, these clips were used because these are the people who submitted their own vids into the McCain site. Which anyone can do. I checked it out, and there weren’t any with a black person that had been submitted yet. So be sure to spread the word to people you know and encourage them to send in their vids!
Ooops I take that back there WAS one video I did see which had a bunch of people holding an “I am Joe the plumber” sign and at least one of them was black. A woman.
There’s another McCain ad similar to this one with an AA in it. The comments on the blog that the video was on referred to the AA as a token. It’s a lose lose situation.
I’m still a registered Dem for the same reason. I would imagine that there’s a lot more of us.

I’m getting the feeling The Precious’ campaign is unraveling. This Hawaii trip is bizarre. A man hated by the left, Powell, endorses him. The Biden and Murtha gaffs are peculiar. The Precious has been hurling boulders from a glass house for way too long. Something big is about to give!
There’s something about his past, or his family, that he’s covering up. Otherwise, why not just show his bloody birth certificate (the real one) and have done it? Why pay a bunch of lawyers to fight it?

I remember the polls in the primaries, The Precious under-polled before and in the exit polls.

Yeah, I typed a little too quickly. I trust McCain. I trust Palin. There is just a couple issues that still have the ick factor for me. First, I don’t think we should be heading more towards nuclear power. I prefer wind and solar. I really believe that we should develop energies that are natural or renewable with NO toxic leftover byproducts.
Also, I still have an issue with any federal judges he selects. Specifically because I believe that the Constition should be somewhat fluid. I believe in keeping a close interpretation; but there are times when you have to be realistic and fair. So, I prefer more moderate Justices. I just don’t know how McCain will select them. On one hand he is moderate; on the other, he has to appease a conservative base; but on the 3rd hand (yeah, I’m really an octopus-lol), his behavior during this election shows me that he will do just about anything to NOT further divide this country.
Anyway, I guess my point is I’m happy to vote for McCain. But if it had been Hillary running, I would have voted for her.
And Independents – which I am.

While its true that dead voters never answer the phone and respond to polling surveys, it is a well known fact that they also never register as republicans.
Lets just call that dead weighting.
This poll suggests Obama is losing. Here’s how:
If we assume in this poll that Republicans would vote for McCain and Democrats for Obama, then according to the skew they are presenting, the percent saying they will vote for McCain should only be 70% of the total saying they will vote for Obama. However, the total saying they will vote for McCain is 75% of the total saying they will vote for Obama. This suggests that very large numbers of Democrats are voting for McCain compared to very small numbers of Republicans voting for Obama. And if you unweight the numbers to even out Democrats and Republicans, then (cancelling out the republicans voting for obama with an equal number of the democrats voting for mccain — which would still leave some democrats voting for McCain based on my earlier analysis of the percentages) you end up with a lead for McCain. So essentially, this poll that supposedly shows a 13-point lead for Obama actually shows a lead for McCain when the artificial skew is removed.

The victory party planning is disgusting. Not a single vote has been counted, yet so many people are calling this race over. Only a small portion of votes have been cast, but I just want to shout it: not a single actual vote has been counted yet.
This is the same strategy the O campaign used in the primaries: game the system to exploit the weaknesses in it (ie caucuses in the primaries and voter registration in the general) and claim victory before the race is over. Only this time the American people don’t have to roll over and take it because of a corrupt DNC. And this time votes will actually count, state by state, vote by vote.

In responding to a comment someone made on the blog which recently scrubbed a reference to Obama’s party in Ayer’s living room, I ended up having to do a little research on the kind of “social justice” educational agenda that Obama willingly collaborated with Ayers on.
I knew that there had been an article in the New York Post last year about a “social justice” high school here in NYC, so I found it.

I really think that this aspect of Obama’s relationship with Ayers should be hammered home. By the way, for a fun read, go to both the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times endorsements of Obama and read the COMMENTS sections. Keep in mind that the Tribune is traditionally conservative, and the Sun Times is liberal. While there are plenty of Obamabots commenting, what is so refreshing about it is how many people from Chicago and the surrounding area are canceling their subscriptions because of the endorsements. The people of Chicago are totally calling out their newspapers for kissing Obama’s butt. Many of them say that Obama as president will be like Chicago Machine gone national.
