CNN’s John King Excoriates His Colleagues on Biased, Whining and Out-of-Touch Election Coverage
By Ani on October 27, 2008 at 9:30 PM in Barack Obama, CNN, John McCain, New York Times
John King, CNN’s chief political correspondent, said CNN’s obsession with Hillary caused them to ignore any vetting or ‘thorough investigation’ of Obama, among other things.
Gee, John, thanks for telling us what we’ve known since February. A day late and a dollar short, wouldn’t you say? We have been shouting from the highest hill about the horrible bias endured first by Senator Clinton and now by McCain/Palin and a week before the election, you decide to finally say something?
I am further offended that Mr. King seems to think that because so-called journalists were “obsessed with Hillary,” they could not multi-task and simultaneously vet Obama. And how were they obsessed with her exactly? He does not say. Perhaps because he does not want to say they these sexist arses were obsessed with destroying her candidacy any way they could. Fawning mindlessly over Senator Obama surely was a clear path to accomplishing that goal.
Two things must be operating here – one, King is trying to save some of his own credibility before the election actually plays out; and two, he knows how CNN’s ratings are tanking and is looking to do damage control. Despite the media’s contention that we are just as in love with Obama as they are – the reality of their falling Neilsen numbers tells a very different story.
CNN of course in not the only culprit here – and they are also not the only ones paying the price in terms of their bottom line. MSNBC’s ratings have likewise tanked, otherwise Matthews and Olbermann would not have been demoted from doing any election coverage.
The LA Times currently has damaging video linking Al Khalidi and Obama and they are refusing to release it. Coincidentally, the LA Times is also tanking and laying off workers. They have also been trumpeting Senator Obama since the beginning.
The NYTimes revenue plunged a whopping 50%, ad revenue collapsed by double digits, and NYT’s debt has just been rated “below investment grade” — or what is known in the investment business as “junk” — by the Standard & Poor’s bond-rating agency. Guess we no longer consider them the paper of record.
Looks like everybody’s chickens are coming home to roost.
Jeff Poor of BMI reports on CNN’s King: ‘Whining’ Media ‘Out of Touch’ on Election Coverage:
You know media bias has reached epic proportions when journalists are criticizing their own colleagues for a lack of professionalism in covering Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama and Republican vice presidential nominee Gov. Sarah Palin….In an interview with South Carolina ETV set to air on “The Big Picture” Oct. 30, CNN chief national correspondent John King criticized his colleagues’ coverage of not only Obama and Palin, but the overall election.
In King’s words:
“I think there’s some very legitimate criticism that we did not treat all of the candidates in the Democratic race, but particularly the top two or three equally, because of the Clinton obsession in the national media,” King told host Mark Quinn. “It is a very fair point. We need to learn that lesson.”
King also accused the media of not adapting to the digital age. According to the CNN correspondent, the electorate has the ability to decouple themselves from the mainstream media and seek out information on the candidates without them.
“Once you move on from there – I do think that some of the criticism is justified. I think some of the criticism not so justified in that we have to adapt to the world we live in,” King said. “And the technology explosion has given people, voters, individuals an amazing opportunity. They can learn everything they want to learn about these candidates without us.”
And we have learned plenty without the likes of you, John. We have also learned plenty that is accurate and provable without the likes of Wolf Blitzer, Campbell Brown or the other Obama sycophants out there. How nice of John to notice. The internet is now officially the fifth estate, since the fourth estate doesn’t see fit to do its job.
King also criticized the media’s “whining” about limited access to Palin. “NBC Nightly News” anchor Brian Williams complained to NBC “Today” host Matt Lauer on Oct. 23 for having to wait 55 days for a Palin interview.
“Part of that is, may be legitimate,” King said of complaints the media treated Palin unfairly. “Part of that is may be how the McCain campaign put her out there. We whine too much sometimes. If the McCain campaign doesn’t want to make Sarah Palin available for interviews – OK, just say they won’t make her available for interviews. We don’t have to jump up and down and scream and cry about that … It’s not our job to whine or complain.”
King said journalists failed to go beyond the Washington-New York corridor to cover the election, proclaiming they were “out of touch” with the majority of voters.
You bet they are out of touch. The media is functioning as an elite group, deigning to offer only the news they think we need to know – instead of reporting the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help them God. King points out that his colleagues and bosses at CNN (and arguably elsewhere) are, just as the elites in the Democratic Party, breathing a rarified air, paying no attention to the needs of the American people.
“There is – I say this all the time and many in my business disagree with me, but one of the things I love about what I do is I travel,” King said. “And there are a lot of people who sit – they’re wonderful people. They’re well-intentioned, don’t get me wrong, but they sit in New York or Washington and they don’t come to South Carolina or North Carolina or Ohio or any other swing state out here and actually talk to human beings or watch what it’s like to stand outside of a factory that just shut down with people.”
According to King, the problem with the media coverage was they were too influenced by their surroundings and that changed their world view.
“And so their attitudes are influenced by the fact that they live in Washington or New York and they don’t travel enough,” King said. “And the criticism is that makes them elitist. I would just say sometimes there are some people who are very influential in our business who are somewhat out of touch.”
King also finds time to criticize McCain saying he should make his candidacy more about the economy and not about the Obama character question. Gee, John, funny, I thought that’s what he was and is doing.
“They thought this would be an election about Barack Obama’s character,” King said. “Sure Barack Obama has the advantage. The Democrats have the advantage this year. They thought they could make it about ‘he’s new, he’s left of center, you don’t know this guy; you can’t trust this guy.’”
“But the economic concerns have magnified,” King said. “We always knew the economy would be the number one issue, but it is number one, two, three, four, five and six because of all the different pressures – Wall Street bailouts, loss of jobs, economic anxiety, health care pressures, the price of energy. McCain’s argument seems smaller to many people in a big election about the economy.”
This is nonsense. If McCain wanted to travel the path of Obama’s character and nefarious associations there is a helluva lot more that he could have attacked Obama on. He is choosing the high road and trying to talk about the issues. This is the one place where I find King to be disingenuous. On the one hand, he is criticizing his colleagues for being out of touch, which they are, and on the other hand, he is parroting the same ridiculous talking points that McCain is ‘struggling in the polls’ because he is not making the economy a big enough issue. Still sucking a little koolaid – eh, John? Obama over polls – you yourself have noticed that when doing election night coverage. Did you conveniently forget that fact for this interview? Joe the Plumber and the newly discovered Obama ’socialist/redistributive change’ audio tapes from 2001 are surely a game changer, as is Sarah Palin.
John King’s statements are way late, but it’s a start; still enough time for the media to turn en masse this next week and tell the truth about a thoroughly unqualified, even dangerous candidate.
Yeah. Okay. Sure.
We’re waiting…

If this is accurate, I can mainly attribute it to the power of the PUMAS…

Stunning results in early voting in California. Smile redstaters

California has begun early voting already as well as mail-in balloting. The number of people who have gone in to vote in person has been extensive. The results so far prove what we had always suspected. The polls are being proven as totally unreliable. Although the results of early balloting have not been disclosed,of course, how many Republicans and how many Democrats have voted has been revealed.
The results are simply shocking. The polls showed Barack Obama with an 18 point lead in California just a few days ago. The results thus far are the complete opposite. In the most liberal state in the entire country, the results are that 99,000 Republicans have voted and 96,000 Democrats voted. In the mail-in balloting the results so far are that 9,000 Democrats sent in their ballots and that 5,000 Republicans did so. So with nearly 210,000 people having voted, the Democrats have only a 1,000 vote advantage !
If we take the liberty of assuming that all Republicans will vote for John McCain and all Democrats will vote for Obama, then the race is incredibly close. I’m sure that Obama will eventually win in California, but if he is struggling here after he pushed so hard for early voting, then he will lose the election ! Everybody thought he would win California in a landslide, but so far anyway,it’s very tight. That means that in the less liberal states he is in real trouble.
Ignore the pundits. Forget the polls. Get out there and vote for John McCain. The results in California show the wisdom of Yogi Berra who said, “It’s not over until it’s over.”
OMG!
OMG, I can’t believe even the media is blaming Hillary for what’s gone wrong in this election. It gets more disgusting by the day!
I remember on the night of the Iowa Caucuses, John King was right in there with Wolf Blitzer, Bill Bennett, and shockingly Carl Berstein and Sally Quinn all of whom were chewing up first Hillary then Bill Clinton and spitting them out.
It was my first exposure to what appeared to be a venting of pent up anger and disgust. Having followed the Clintons closer than most, I was utterly speechless when first Carl Bernstein and then Bill Bennett said, “It’s time for the Clintons to get off the stage”, “they have been here long enough.” It was clear from the attitudes of Bennett, Bernstein, and Quinn, that if the Clintons had any friends or supporters left, they were trying to turn them off as well. Wolf Blitzer was taking his turn with the same vitriol offered by all. John King even went so far as to bring up Monica Lewinsky.
Little did I realize that was the beginning of cable outlets choosing one candidate over another and a year of events that would change politics into vicious personal attacks against the candidate the media decides to defeat.
So, I don’t know who John King thinks he’s fooling. He’s the pot calling the kettle black.
Thanks so much for posting this, FranSC. I did not watch CNN the night of the Iowa caucuses. Although I heard about the horror show.
I appreciate your reminding everyone how unforgiveable and disgusting their conduct was and is.
I couldn’t agree with you more but don’t leave out the most offensive of them all-MSNBC and the vile propagandists that dare to call themselves “media”.
Your are absolutly right.
It is not over. McCain/Palin will win
Go out and vote
If these early results are stunning, let’s think again. This is the largest and one of the strongest Democratic leaning states.
The “smoke and mirrors” trademark of the Obama campaign should notify everyone that anything and everything is up for examination.
If there is a possibility for a win in California, anything is possible, and everyone should proceed as such.
People keep forgetting a large chunk of those Democrat ballots are PUMAs voting for Mac!
I would say that California is probably still “safe” for Uhbama, but if it’s inside of 10 points in the margin I would say for the rest of the country that the victory dance by Team Uhbama is premature.
I’m in the Los Feliz/Silverlake/Atwater junction in L.A.. While I don’t see many stickers at all, what stickers and signs I do see are more “No on 8″ rather than Obama ones.
Indicator to watch; if it’s close in CA for the Presidential race and Prop 8 is losing, that’ll indicate that the Hillary loyalists voting for McCain are a force to be reckoned with.
NO on 8
yes on mccain
Prop 8 will surely bring out those Republican voters and those who vote yes for that initiative will vote for McCain. That will be very interesting.
I’ve got a feeling that many California DEMOCRATS will also vote yes on Prop 8. In 2006, when Alabama had the opportunity to vote for a Governor AND a ban on same-sex marriage, the Republican Governor only received 58% of the vote while the amendment received a whopping 81%.
I have a sneaking suspicion that many of the African-Americans in Cali will vote for Obama AND Prop 8. (Of course, since AAs account for less than 10% of all Californians, the overall margin will probably be much closer.) I don’t agree with Prop 8 at all. Arguments from proponents are hollow. Marriage is governed by CIVIL authorities in this country (just try getting married in a church without a state-issued license–hell, the “traditional” ceremony typically concludes with “by the power invested in me by the STATE of _______”) which is one reason why judges (and even ships’ captains) have legal authority to marry a couple. A couple married in Michigan is recognized as such by officials in Colorado or Texas or Florida (or even a foreign country) without a need for the couple to REmarry if they move to that new location. The voters don’t get to decide for themselves what speed limit they want to drive; the voters don’t get to decide for themselves how much tax they have to pay. But who gets the right to marry? Well, THAT has to be decided by the voters.
(Sorry for going a bit OT but discrimination should NEVER be allowed to be enshrined in a state’s constitution just because enough voters want to be bigots.)
I think a pundit said a long while back if California went for BO, it would be the end for BO. They say BO should win CA easily, but I’m open for a surprise should it happen. We’ve gone with the loser the last 2 elections.
I’m sorry, but didn’t California vote for the Democratic candidate?
Oh! I get it now. When you wrote “loser”, you meant “person who lost the general election”, not “Dubya”. (Dubya’s a loser ALL the time, even when he “wins”.)
You are right. I am from California and I will say this, my family, Asians originally are 15 in all. 5 of these are Republicans and 10 Democrats but now 100% are voting for McCain. This is just my small way of taking polls. And if you remember, during the last primary, 3 to 4 days before election, polls said Obama will win over Hillary by 9% to 15% but lose by 13%. I have said before and I will say it again, the big surprise on November 4 is California and probably Washington state too. One of my sisters live there and she told me when she travels around, she saw 2 to 1 posters and placards for McCain. We will never know. WA is a neighboring state to AK. Love your neighbor.
Heck, McCain could even win Oregon. It’s a closeted red state that goes blue because of the cities on the I-5 Corridor. This year could be different. I figure for everyone who doesn’t have a sign for Obama in Obotland, 75% are for McCain. (fearful of putting McCain signs out)
The Palin affect may be large. Alaska is more or less “our neck of the woods”.
I hate everything about NObama video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNZ3nA7Mz7o
I’d love it if Oregon – my state – went red. Go Pumas!
And what about all those CA Dems who re-registered as Independents…like me? I have voted absentee for McCain/Palin.
Last week, volunteering at McCain HQ, a man and his wife came in asking for information on voting. They had moved up from Merced and hadn’t had time to re-register. Told they were too late to register or get an absentee balot, they said they’d be driving all the way back to Merced just to vote. So many people having their lawn signs stolen and stickers taken off their cars…that the biased local paper did an editorial about it on Sunday. Of course, they didn’t mention that the only signs missing around town are McCain/Palin. Their silence speaks loudly.
We have been praying to flip CA. After all, people crossed party lines to re-call Democrat, Gray Davis as Gov and elect Swartzeneger. Sarah had a big welcome in So. Ca a week or so ago. People are stoked. Wish we’d get her in Monterey.
Yes I have said before would be wonderful for CA to go red…. Parts of CA are red…
My feeling is we will have a wonderful surprise in CA…. Think positive!
I would love Sarah to come to Monterey we could shout together Annie!
Use your brain Vote McCain!!!!
But, go back and check the vote’s results. That recall measure had two components: First was the recall and second was the choice to replace. People who didn’t like Davis included many Democrats so they didn’t really “cross” party lines. Davis was NOT a candidate in the election–an earlier ruling disallowed his being among the gubernatorial candidates IF the recall succeeded; had the recall failed, Davis would have continued in office.
The results of the RECALL were 52.9% in favor, 42.6% against while 4.5% of the ballots were invalid or blank. But, NO candidate received 52.9% of the vote for a new governor. In fact, Schwarzenegger didn’t even win all the Republican votes; Ah-nuld got 44.7% of the total vote while fellow GOP nominee, Tom McClintock got 12.3% (personally, I’d say the REAL GOPers voted for McClintock) and Democrat Cruz Bustamante got 28.9%. More than 8% of the ballots were invalid or blank and just over 6% of the votes went to the remaining 125+ candidates. (The numbers provided at Wiki list the actual figures, but the percentages for the yes/no issue as well as the candidates’ votes are based on the ballots that were valid or marked. The percentages I listed included the invalid/blank ballots.)
One might note that since voter turnout was “only” 61% that a tacit 39% of the voters really opposed the recall and wanted Davis to remain in office. (It is also possible that many of Davis’s supporters refused to participate in an election that they felt improperly excluded him. I do recall hearing that many Davis supporters resented Bustamante for running as “Davis’s replacement”, feeling that Bustamante was using the recall for his own political advancement.)
Great news! And, ANI, great post
kbdbear-
do you have a link for this ?
Thanks

Back to the topic of this post, I’m very concerned about that technology factor in this race – news from the internet. It’s been the saving grace for so many and should O win, that’s the one remaining vestige of truth. How long do we think it would remain accessible?
Sorry, I said weeks ago that I think California was going RED. I still believe it. I think the only states that Oblahblah will walk away with is Maryland and DC.
Thats for the info. Can’t wait to show my dh tomorrow.
And for the record, John King is only trying to save his ass. If he had any real integrity, he would have brought this out back in February & if it made no difference with his editors or management, then he should have quit his job in protest.
You are going to see it now. As O’s house of cards start tumbling down & the media realizes that he is going to lose, they will then realize that they are going to have 100 million Republicans after their asses. And then, after the koolaid drinking Dems come to their senses, they will have 100 million o’bots after them. Watch them scurry about like rats leaving a sinking ship.
Again, does anyone know how to get a list of names of editors of CNN, NBC, MSNBC, ABC, CBS? Also a list of advertisers (I don’t mean who owns them, I mean the companies that advertise on the channels)? I’d appreciate help on this. I know what I want to do, but am having a problem finding out names. Thanks so much.
Media matters has a list of companies that advertise on those news networks
I live in California and you should also factor in the fact that not all registered Democrats are voting for that nitwit. I am still a registered Democrat. I voted absentee for Mccain. There are a lot of people like me. California may go blue, but it’s not a slam dunk.
roflmao.
DEEGEE, thank you for the best larf I have had all day.
I have not heard that word used in years. What a perfect occasion to revive it.
Yes, there are quite a number of Dems in CA voting for McCain. That much I know.
We don’t have early voting in my state, but even if we did, I would wait until 11/4 to vote just because I’m so concerned about BO gaming the system. I realize that votes are not supposed to be counted until 11/4, but you can’t be too cautious this year. I wonder if there are any like-minded voters out there.
Me too…gotta have that “hands-on feeling”
I think the voting on election day will be planned chaos. That makes it ripe for error, fraud and missed opportunities. We had that situation here in our county on primary day where lines were long, people couldn’t wait, they ran out of ballots and used scrap paper, no parking places, etc. All due to the AA turnout for Barack. Many of these voters had never voted before and it simply overwhelmed an inadequate system.
Last night, reported on local news that NAACP has filed suit against Gov. Kaine over inadequate preparation. NOW, of all times! Where were they months ago when they could have participated in planning to ensure adequate preparation? Why one week before the election do they make a big fuss over too few machines that they want to redistribute to other precincts?
IDEA: vote now. Go get an absentee ballot and vote now, avoid the mess. Call your city clerk, call your local Repub party, but vote now.
This is bound to be a messy election day. So think about avoiding it. You can still vote; plan to be out of town if you must.
I’m a former Election judge. You simply have no idea how many people vote absentee ballot, for all kinds of reasons. Also, it’s not easy to mess with absentee ballots – they have to be carefully checked w/a roster.
And do it before Obama figures out how to keep us from doing that.
And don’t forget–while we may be able to assume Republicans are voting for McCain/Palin, can we really, truly assume now that all Democrats are voting for The One?
I’m planning to go in finally to declare myself independent, but during this election, I’ve maintained my status as a Democrat. It just gives me some sense of giving some “payback” to the party that didn’t want to really count my vote during the primary. They just have to be crazy to think they can count on it now? It will, I think, shock them to find many Democratic ballots with the little circle blaced out next to Mcain/Palin.
There’s no official data other than numbers voting by party affiliation. That said, it’s getting a lot of attention on the blogosphere (google early voting CA).
We all know the MSM won’t report this, but if Uhbama, Biden, McCain or Palin make a quick campaign stop out here, you know their internals are showing something interesting.
DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN!!!
What if you use the same percentage multiplier derived from the percentage of Dem’s who went PUMA, and apply that to the total number of Dem’s.
Would ten percent be too big a number? If that were considered, all bets are off.
Urb, even though Red State says he “can’t find” the article at SFGate.com that confirms this, the only article *I* found remotely concerning this topic is here, and it’s about Nevada, not California. I can’t seem to find the California stats.
It’s not that I don’t trust RedState. It’s that I like to have all the ducks in order WITH the positively affirming links/backup before I start celebrating.
I mailed my ballot today for McCain in California and I’m a registered Democrat. This will be the first time I vote for a Republican. I love this story, wouldn’t it be wonderful if California went for McCain.
And how about after the DNC decided to crown Obama: what was their excuse not to vet Obama then, John King??
Puh-lease now they are going to spend the nest 2 years trying to rehab and re-invent themselves after the shameful, disgusting and immoral propaganda they have run in lieu of coverage.
The MSM has been nothing but who–s servicing the Obama camp. UGH!!!!!
Jennifer Rubin wrote a great post today asking:
When they go back to work?
http://www.commentarymagazine.com/blogs/index.php/rubin/40151
One has to wonder if they will ever…. The MSM infuriates me more than BO himself –and that is quite LOT.
The cost of living in California is very high… so $250000 isn’t really upper class. They been through Clinton taxes and so they know better not to vote for Obama.
This is a great point. The fact that $250K doesn’t go as far in California could factor in to the opposition to Zero’s tax plan.
If you look at the tax charts, earners over $111,600 actually do better with McCain. This was published in Parade magazine and can be found at http://www.parade.com/news/intelligence-report/archive/how-much-would-you-pay-taxes.html.
The source of the data is Tax Policy Center (www.taxpolicycenter.org).
I want to remind everyone that the 250,000 benchmark is for 2 wage earner families – 200,000 is for a single earner.
We are a good bit below that 200K figure and also are positive our taxes will go UP. IF he ever gets in power there is nothing to stop him from “changing” his benchmark – in fact, he will have to do so because there is no other way to pay off his people. He will spin it but there is nothing we can do about it. FICA taxes are going up, there are hearings now about our 401K’s and discussions of removing the tax incentives from them – even the possibility of the Government taking them over to “manage” for us.
Sorry this is OT
I’ve learned that Obama could only get such large attendance at his recent Denver rally by offering:
free food and drink
free concert by Carlos Santana
free performance by comedian George Lopez
I wouldn’t be surprised if his campaign provided transport as well.
Now we know why he needs so much money — it ain’t cheap to buy those kinds of photo ops.
Yes, the same tactics that fueled his much touted “European tour”…
the man is a sham…
I know I’m stating the obvious, but as I was looking over the Obama facebook Saturday, I saw a “shoutout” to all the people from the surrounding states who came to make the rally such a big success. So it’s really just the same people showing up over and over. Anyway I saw a link and a request for volunteers for an event and because it was in my state (GA) I was curious. This was/is for a canvassing walk in Athens, GA home of the University of GA Bulldogs. Lots of students. There were 3 sessions each day for a week, and a total of only about 20 or so people signed up. 1 here, 3 there. That was it. No huge amount of people volunteering.
Wow — thanks for posting that useful tidbit — very telling.
Local Dems in my county – red but surrounding a blue city – thought they’d have lots of Obama staff helping out at the polls on election but have recently put out a call for local volunteers. They found no staffing help after all from the campaign. Probably going to use those troops to flush out the known votes in the city instead.
Hell, I’d go to an Obama rally to see Santana.
yes theres no saying all these turning out for a FEBBIE lunch a sing and boogie will vote for O!
Me thinks something is afoot. Could it be they are trying to save their arses before the destruction hits. I wonder how many will loose their jobs after all is said and done?
Let’s hope they all lose their jobs. The monstrous propaganda inflicted on the American public is reprehensible.
What can change a man? Regret–like regretting losing your business/job during a serious economic meltdown. I think you got it right, Ani, about the damage control. Perhaps we should all show John King a little love for finally saying something and hope for more repentance to follow.
Nope, Little to late for that!
I did however see that Cnn had a segment on today about the BC
Did CNN cover the redistribution of wealth 2001 audio?
Lou Dobbs did today.
When CNN shows a little love for the American people by reporting honestly and fairly, and apologizes to Sarah Palin, John McCain and Joe the plumber for trying their best to destroy their lives, then perhaps I might forgive …but then again, perhaps not,as I have lived quite happily without CNN for years now.
They first have to get down on their collective hands and knees and apologize to Hillary Clinton.
She received worse abuse than anyone and was clearly the best candidate.
Absolutely…can’t believe I left her out.She was the first to be shat upon by the MSM/CNN,MSNBC etc. A lot of Republicans and conservatives(FOX and talk radio) actually stuck up for Hillary during the media slander and gained a lot of respect for the way she stood tall and STRONG!
Ani,
Excellent post.
I’ve noticed on various blogs that people are writing to the LA Times and demanding that they release the tape. Here’s the address. Everyone should write and demand that they make the tape available.

The Times did write about the tape, so I’m not sure what you mean aboutsuppressing the video or information from the video. Here is a copy of the report about the video.
Thanks again for writing,

…
If that is the case, then release the video that you have of the event and don’t merely report it. Why is the Los Angeles Times sitting on a videotape of the 2003 farewell bash in Chicago at which Barack Obama lavished praise on the guest of honor, Rashid Khalidi – former mouthpiece for master terrorist Yasser Arafat?
…
Thanks for your note back. It sounds as if you don’t find “mere reporting” to be enough, but The Times is not suppressing anything.
Just the opposite — the L.A. Times brought the matter to light.
Thanks again for taking the time to write.

A perfect example of the utter arrogance of the media, and the contempt in which they hold their readers. They’re very aware that video has an immediacy and power that mere words do not; that’s why they’re suppressing it.
And it’s hard to avoid the suspicion that there’s more to that video than they reported.
I am certain that the press will vet Obama once he is in the White House, and we will even hear Chris Mathews say that he should have been more impartial. Of course, it will then be much too late.
Lawsuits will proceed…if it can be proven that he was not eligible to run for POTUS (or Senate) then we will have a Constitutional crisis on our hands…and if he is impeached…Biden will be POTUS.
That makes me madder than anything. Well, almost anything.
yep; just like their mea culpas (sp?) after they bamboozled america into the iraq war. no shame.

Many are hoping he will never get in the Whitehouse.
Plus I don’t care about CNN after Donna Brazille : Cafferty and Co….
They all need pink slips…
Great post Ani…..
and this election night will feel good not to see John Kind swooning over that DAMN wall!!
“King not Kind!!
Aw, I’ve had it with the mainstream media. Look at this bullcrap in the Philadelphia Inquirer:
“White people shouldn’t be allowed to vote”
http://www.philly.com/inquirer/opinion/20081026_White_people_shouldn_t_be_allowed_to_vote.html
Thanks for the link heard it on Fox but could not find it. As one of the commenters stated: If this said a Black man should not vote, the guy would be out of a job.
We must insist they hold the racist who wrote that equally responsible.
That guy should be put in a mental asylum. He doesn’t want white people (the actual majority in this country) to vote because he knows the Obots can only win if they don’t. If white people weren’t allowed to vote, then it wouldn’t exactly be the will of the people if the majority didn’t vote. That would be forcing the majority to bend to the will of a minority.
BINGO! That’s the plan: minority rule over the masses.Should we be damned with an Obama-Odinga presidency it would not surprise me if they tried to pull it off.Until then they will have to rely on ACORN to do their dirty work.
Newspapers contribute to global warming; they destroy trees and lots of energy is wasted producing them, not to mention trucking them around. And for what? The bird is now refusing to poop on them, because they are ALREADY FULL OF SH*T! I think we must ban newspapers to help stop AGW!
My bird still poops on the newspaper. She loves to poop on the LA Times. That is about all the newspaper is good for.
An ignoramus and silly.
Why don’t these jackasses in the media delve into Brzezinski et al???
Just up…

I agree-
Obama & Brzezinksi relationship has been GROSSLY overlooked by the media and others…
please learn more about Z Brzezinski’s past actions…and his LONG relationship to Sen Obama going back over 20 years…
Especially review Brzezinski’s goals (past, present and future) with regards to Russia.

I could not figure out why Z Brzezinski would endorse so highly an UNKNOWN like Obama…Now it all makes sense.

This is going to be closer than most people think.
The polls are meaningless this year.
Let the American people speak on Nov 4.
The majority will make the right choice for America…and that is not voting for Obama.
Not having any of it. John King should lose his job as should most of the other mainstream faces who speak words (not real news). I’m not forgiving the Alphabet networks. They have lost my trust and viewership uh(as Obama says) forever.
Yes — they should all be fired — exceptions: Lou Dobbs and Greta Van Susteren.
Yeah, lets move Barbara West from Florida and those students from Pelestra into the MSM. Out with the corrupt and in with the new.
It would be cool if FOX news offered her a job. I may suggest it to them!
Ani-
I agree however I think that the problem may be that they have too many MBAs in the newsroom-too many people focused on profits (and shareholder returns) versus the practice of true JOURNALISM AND the carrying out of the media’s role as a member of the fourth estate in our system of government checks and balances- you know- the 3 branches of govt (executive, legislative, judicial) and the media.
So, you can fire the anchors and reporters if you want but its the management really that is the problem. SOME journalists can stand up to their managers however if they have mouths to feed and a mortgage to pay- many times they just do what they are told-
The owners of the media giants are the ones truly responsible for these decisions and they pass on the law to the managers of the outlets, who in turn hammer their news staff.
Ultimately however- it is up to us- the citizens, the consumers of the news to tell them that if they keep on dishing out this cr*p to us, we WILL END OUR SUBSCRIPTIONS, CHANGE OUR TV STATIONS and TURN OUR RADIO DIALS.
Thats they only we we can influence them- BOYCOTT -PAY NO ATTENTION TO THEM. Advertisers will notice.
AND…WE MUST SUPPORT INDEPENDENT JOURNALISTS and Citizen bloggers. Subscribe to credible websites (like NQ!!!) and contribute money to keep these sites alive. AND…START OUR OWN websites and blogs and exchange info with each other-Just like NQ does.
But you know, these network anchors are very wealthy. How much more money do they need? No matter what their bean-counter bosses are telling them to do, at the end of the day, if you have no integrity, you have nothing.
You are what you sign your name to.
Certainly I live in a glass house, however, I have been in situations where I could really have used a buck, but I said no to certain business opportunities because I felt that they were wrong on principle. Looking back, money or no, I don’t regret turning them down.
I love money, but I love being able being able to sleep at night more.
How can these people justify or live with themselves? The reporters are just as culpable because they live in a rarified air where they allow themselves to be deluded into thinking they can justify these horrid actions.
They cannot.
Yes, the bottom line culprits are the corporate button pushers who own the media outlets. But just as we as American most hold our votes and our voices at very high value, reporters have nothing but their name and integrity.
90% of them have rendered themselves both soulless and worthless.
MochaLatteBreve-
I agree.
Ani EXCELLENT post.
It is now up to independent journalists, bloggers, citizen journalists and the FOREIGN MEDIA to help keep the US citizens informed as to what is happening in our country.
The internet is indeed the Fifth Estate and we MUST protect it at all costs. We must also increase access.
How many of Sen Obama’s recently registered voters even have a computer or know how to use one or even know what the internet is?
Who will these people be getting their info from to make an informed decision- SEN Obama? CNN? MSNBC?
Hey, I hear that Arnold (Calif Gov) is going to appear with McCain later this week at a rally…I think Ohio.
Arnold relates to the McCain voters in Ohio? I wouldn’t think so much. Wish he would stay home and bring in the people who are down to earth, understand working class people and can connect with the Ohio voters. Too bad Hillary isn’t available. A country singer would be better than Arnold!
The MSM has been the problem from the get-go.
I bet the source of much frustration and restlessness to the point of fatigue for millions of people, consumers, i.e. Fellow Americans, yea, right.
Yep, and as bad as it was ~ it got worse with the untimely demise of Tim Russert back in June immediately following the Surrender Dorothy charade and all 18 million cracks…and let’s not forget the double rainbows. (China stole their idea).
It was really, really bad and obnoxious but it (they)definitly got worse. It’s reat to see actual faces taking exception, these days.
which reminds me: keith olberpitbull, the wooooorrrst pers pig in the Wooooooooooooooorrrrrrld!
You know…this REALLY, REALLY, REALLY pisses me off! 8 days before the election and NOW he’s looking in the mirror? What a crock. This is nothing but damage control and it’s a little freakin’ late for THAT. Why wasn’t John calling his colleagues on the carpet when they were in the process of destroying Hillary’s campaign? Now that the damage is done, he speaks out? Screw CNN and screw John King. I’m finished with that network and with MSNBO. I hope they both go under and off the air.
Fox was banned in my house for 7+ YEARS! NOW? It’s the ONLY network I watch and that just started when I could no longer stand the BO love fests on the other 2 networks.. MSNBO and CNN are now banned in my home. Never again will I watch either one. Kiss my ass, John King.
You got that right! I am boycotting CNN and MSNBC. I will have a hard time forgiving and forgetting.
I totally agree! Too little too late, John King. My family despised FOX news before this and never in our wildest dreams would we see ourselves watching FOX solely, but thanks to BO, we now say, “Thank goodness FOX is around!” I cannot even imagine what supposed “news” we’d be fed if we depended on the MSM.
John King and all MSM reporters alike, you failed at your jobs and you are an utter disgrace to your profession!
WE’re right there with you, man…your family sounds just like mine !
HillaryDem 4 McCain!
Same here.
I hated FOX network, but now it’s the only news I watch.
Who knew?
Same here. I have turned into my father-in-law which my husband agress is better than my mother!
Now the Obama campaign is urging everyone to take the day off work to celebrate the grand occasion of the Anointed One being crowned King of America:
http://my.barackobama.com/page/s/dayoffbg
At a cost of how many hundreds of millions to the U.S. economy?
First he
spendswastes more than any other candidate in American history in his bid to get elected – and now he wants everyone to take the day off work at a time when the economy is already on its knees. The Obama campaign is without a shadow of a doubt the most disgusting, disgraceful Presidential ticket in American history. I could not feel any more contempt for these people and the idiots who are supporting them.
HAHA what a loser, so he wants people to not work, beautiful, I guess they are gonna start spreading the wealth a little early this year. Just want to see the look on Obama’s face if he loses, oh man, I will print it on my computer, and put it up on my wall to admire all day and night
Oh man…he’ll have to give that speech and everything…how will he cope? They’ll have to superglue his tear ducts shut.
I remember the look on his face when Hillary beat him NH — it was priceless. The guy is a thin-skinned preening narcissist who’s been petted by the ultra-left all of his life. I simply cannot wait to see him concede this election!!!
He won’t conceed – if he loses and he will, we’ll never see him again. His ego is that big.
I hope your right Danny
obama knows his minions don’t like to work a lot anyways. this is just his way of letting them know he’s on their side. he’ll probably send every body who skips work a check for not working that day.
Paid for by the tax payers who actually do work.
The LA Times withholding a (damning?) story that might hurt Mr. O reminds me so much of the NY Times withholding the domestic spying story until after the 2004 election had taken place.
I lieve in a very heavily republican country in Central NY. And they are jazzed and ready to vote.
I will be voting with the blue haired ladies, and dapper dudes in their “hats”. Some will then go out for coffee and discuss.
Ahh election day, crisp time of year.
Yeah, let’s hope it doesn’t go soggy with Obama thuggery and election stealing.
As an election day McCain/Palin volunteer, I will be giving people rides to their polling place.
Apparently, they need more volunteers because they have a long list of people who have called in to be put on the list. I’ll go over tomorrow or Wednesday to get my list. Will update you again after that.
He’s the guy whose arms were flying around with that chart board during the primaries, right?
I gave up CNN so I forget who most of those characters are. except cafferty, because he always looked like he had a gas pocket.
Yup! That’s him and he just married Dana Bash…I do believe she was following around McCain on the campaign trail. John and Dana just got married in May (?) I think. I have no clue if they are both still working on the network since getting married because I stopped watching it a LONG time ago. John’s the guy with the new hi tech political board, He got it just before the primaries started.
Its Not,
Did he wash his hair for the wedding?
Yuck – What could she possibly see in that grump?
That damn wall I hope it breaks down !
or does not stop when he pulls the thing forward!
I saw Campbell Brown do a speciasl commentary on the sexism throughout the campaign and journalist’s obsession with things like women’s clothes. She handed it over to John who then began his story about Palin’s $150,000 wardrobe. It was practically in the same minute.
Turned the TV off. A little too late for any false redemption.
Well it only took about 13 hours to vet Joe the Plumber and it only took the kid in TN about half a day to hack Sarah’s emails, so the MSM should have a few good videos and stories by tomorrow morning about Senator Government if they really are starting to feel that buyer’s remorse that is setting in. Maybe John is getting tired of being yelled at in the Target in front of his kids by us regular people who are sick and tired of the MSM snobs not doing their jobs. How about just simply checking on his birth records for a start?
Great post:
lol.
it will be Kmart next week for them all
I agree, little to late. John King and CNN can kiss my ass.
Thnaks for nothing, John King.
You’re “Road to Damascus” moment is too little too late. You and your MSM buddies have lost all credibility. And you lost my viewership of CNN.
PUMA
obama has run the worst campaign in history. More money then God, the “liberal media” wind at his back for 18 months yet he lost the primaries and the general is going down to the wire. Check the video in the post below this one. obama spokesman is a child. The slightest pressure and the guy falls apart. If the “liberal media” had NOT been playing t-ball with obama’s campaign everyone in it would be hiding under their beds months ago.
Yeah, worst campaign ever run by a little known freshman senator with a muslim name, black father, no personal fortune, and oh…..no gorging on public funds to pay for his campaign.
Win or lose, please compare that to a celebrity war hero senator with admirals in his family who married into a personal fortune. A man who had a decent reputation at the beginning of this campaign, despite his party’s abysmal record these past 8 years, who can’t even get his own base fired up without a gimmick runningmate.
As to the “liberal media”…go ahead and count the MSM stories on Rev.Wright, compared to Alaska Independence Party stories.
yeah, “pet rocks” sold like crazy for a while, too. a lot of people are stupid and like to jump on the bandwagon. that, and the far-leftist, america-hating wing of the democratic party finally found a candidate they could believe in. too bad the GE is a little different than a dem primary.
So is CNN’s John King the first in what’ll be a long line of journos trying to salvage their reputations by crying bias now, hoping the American public will forgive them (of course, they’ve done everything possible to get BO elected). And now that they’ve proclamed BO the next POTUS already, they can now pretend to be responsible journalists. They pulled this crap on Hillary after BO was given the nomination. Recognize sexism/bias after the fact.
John King is merely a concern troll. There are no “journalists” in the MSM.
MSM is dead and gone. Thank god. People rule not the media.
yawn.
Complaining about CNN? That’s pathetic. What happened to FOX News? Or Rupert Murdoch’s other news outlets? How about Richard Scaife? All these left wing librul media leaders let you guys down?
First, pull your head out of the vat of Kool Aid, and then you can see the bias that 70% of the pubic are seeing. It’s so blatant, it’s embarrassing. King is just trying to save face. Too little, too late John.
There is of course a way in which we can get our revenge on the mainstream news media.
Just stop watching it.
Do everything you can to persuade your friends and family to do the same.
It was only a few years ago that the statement “I read it on the internet” encouraged howls of mirth. “You read it….where? Oh well then it must be true!”
How quickly things change! Now there is no shame at all in saying that you’ve given up on the mainstream media and get all of your news and analysis online.
I think the mainstream media knows this. It’s almost as if they’re resigned to their own imminent demise and have decided, screw it, we might as well go out with a bang, drop all the pretense and just run infomercials for Obama 24/7.
I will be following the ratings of these news outlets very closely over the next few months. Everyone I know has said that they’ve had it with the MSM. I will enjoy seeing those ratings go down very much. With a few exceptions, most of these people ought to lose their careers over this.
Stop watching isn’t enough.
I’m thinking a petition to terminate specific editors, producers, and bobble heads…signed by a million or so angry Americans & sent to the CEO’s of the top 20 advertisers with each station.
I’m thinking of a website, with the purpose of identifying the individuals involved in this fiasco, along with proper vetting of them.
I’m thinking of them spending the next 10 years in exile at local tv stations in Omaha or Duluth or Juneau (if they’ll have them).
This is sooo not over on November 5th. Not by a long shot. Investigations, explanations and terminations, nothing less.
As Hannity has been saying, 2008 is the year the MSM died. And I’d add…became irrelevant.
Thanks to the media we lost the chance to have Hillary as our President. They can kiss my typical white behind!!
Barky seems to be under the illusion that he is going to become the ruler of the universe.
Just how does John King think Obama, once safely ensconsed in power, will treat him and his other fellow elites? He will tell him to kiss his ass, that’s how. One false move and total access will be cut off. He and his band of merry synchophants in the media have permanently alienated millions of viewers. It isn’t because there is the internet either. People are being told how they think and what they should think. The internet is a refuge for people seeking a sense of community. The entirely disgraceful display we’ve been witness to this election season has been transformative all right. Obama’s not doing the transforming though .We are facing the reality of how unimportant our hopes, dreams and aspirations are to these political opportunists.
I live in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles. There are NO signs, NOT ONE, on my street. Other than, of course, MY TWO SIGNS – Nobama and McCain/Palin 08. I am amazed that my signs are still there to be honest. I was almost afraid to have them there but then I decided that my free speech was already in jeopardy so what the hell. I think that CA is always a longshot to go red, but I really do have a ton of Hillary voter friends voting for McCain. Wow how awesome if CA pulled off a McCain victory. I will say that the Palin rally I attended was SWAMPED and everyone went wild for her.
right on.
Sorry, OT.
This is from gretawire.com.
If it’s true, there is at least a person who knows what’s actually going on at O’s camp.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO THE PERSON WHO POSTED THIS!!! GOD BLESS!!!
VOTE AMERICAN…..VOTE FOR JOHN MCCAIN!!!!

Posted from another thread. I’m copy/pasting it here. As if we weren’t aware this was going on all along. McCain voters, ignore the polls! ———————

Ok, I want to clear my conscious a little. Hopefully you could make a blog post to help some fellow clinton supporters out.
I work for a campaign and can’t wait for this week to be over.
I was doing it for a job. I was not a fan of any candidate but over time grew to love HRC.
The internal campaign idea is to twist, distort, humiliate and finally dispirit you.
We pay people and organize people to go to all the online sites and “play the part of a clinton or mccain supporter who just switched our support for obama”
We do this to stifle your motivation and to destroy your confidence.
We did this the whole primary and it worked.
Sprinkle in mass vote confusion and it becomes bewildering. Most people lose patience and just give up on their support of a candidate and decide to just block out tv, news, websites, etc.
This surprisingly has had a huge suppressing movement and vote turnout issues.
Next, we infiltrate all the blogs and all the youtube videos and overwhelm the voting, the comments, etc. All to continue this appearance of overwhelming world support.
People makes posts to the effect that the world has “gone mad”
Thats the intention. To make you feel stressed and crazy and feel like the world is ending.
We have also had quite a hand in skewing many many polls, some we couldn’t control as much as we would have liked. But many we have spoiled over. Just enough to make real clear politics look scarey to a mccain supporter. Its worked, alough the goal was to appear 13-15 points ahead.
see, the results have been working. People tend to support a winner, go with the flow, become “sheeple”
The polls are roughly 3-5 points in favor of Barack. Thats due to our inflation of the polls and pulling in the sheeple.
Our donors, are the same people who finance the MSM. Their interests are tied, Barack then tends to come across as teflon. Nothing sticks. And trust, there were meetings with Fox news. The goal was to blunt them as much as possible. Watch Bill Oreilly he has become much more diplomatic and “fair and balanced” and soft. Its because he wants to retain the #1 spot on cable news and to do that he has to have access to the Obama campaign and we worked hard at stringing him a long and keeping him soft for an interview swap. It worked and now he is anticipating more access. So he is playing it still soft.
This is why nothing sticks.
The operation is massive, the goal is to paint a picture that is that of a winner, regardless of the results.
There is no true inauguration draft or true grant park construction going on. There will be a party, but we are boasting beyond the truth to make it seem like the election is wrapped up.
Our goal is to continue to make you lose your moral. We worked hard at persuasion and paying off and timing and playing the right political numbers to get key republican endorsements to make it seem even more like it was over and the world was coming to an end for you all.
There is a huge staff of people working around the clock, watching every site, blogs, etc. We flood these sites. We have had a goal to overwhelm.
The truth is here. I could go on and on, but you get the picture.
I am saying this because I know HRC was better for the country, and now realize this. I was too late by the time I connected to her. To me Barack was just a cool young dude that seemed like a star. I didn’t know him or his policies, but now I understand more than I care to and I realize his interests are more for him, and the DNC and all working like puppets with dean. I always thought a president wanted the better good for the country. The end result I see is everyone dependent on the government, this means more and more people voting for the DNC. This means the future is forever altered. I don’t see this as america, so I am now supporting John Mccain.
Sarah Palin is a huge threat, and our campaign has feared her like you can’t imagine. If it seems unfair how she has been treated, well its because she has had a team working round the clock to make her look like a fool.
this is a big conspiracy and I am so shocked that its not realized.
We released a little blurb the other day that the Obama campaign was already working on reelection and now putting our efforts towards 2012. This was to make it seem like it was above us to continue caring about 2008. Trust me, its a lie. David is very smart, but its a sticky ugly not very truthful kind of intelligence.
Its not over yet, but I think the machine is working. And its a hill to climb.
I will be quitting my post on nov 5th and my vote will be for John Mccain. Fortunately, my position has been a marketing position and I don’t feel I had any part of anything I would feel guilty for. But I look forward to getting out of this as the negativity and environment upsets me.
I wish you all well, and goodluck.
PS my name is not really sarah. but I am a female and I understand your plight.”
And I wish to say that this person and anyone who stood with her in this deception should be deeply ashamed of herself.
This is the presidency we are talking about. What have these irresponsible idiots been playing at?
She is in ‘marketing’ so she feels no guilt?
How did any of them sleep at night?
If this “confession” is for real — it is also a day late and a dollar short and puts her and everyone who is working with her in the same category as the MSM.
We knew they were doing this b.s. all along.
This is INFURIATING.
When its over…I hope you write a book about your experiences. The public needs to know this. I am sure you will probably consider writing book(if you write one) using a pen name…
There are reams of information about Axelrod’s astrotrufing. You’re not telling us anything we don’t know.
The PUMA sentiment is much wider than you realize.
We’ll see if people are as dumb as Axelrod and Obama think they are.
Axelrod’s techniques may work in IL but let me tell you sweetie — he’s never done a national election.
There are ZERO Obama signs in my neighborhood. And as of today — I saw one McCain sign.
If the “sheeple” were rushing to Obama to be with “the winner” we would be seeing them all over.
This idea that people want to vote for a “Winner” is ridiculous — Americans are hurting, this is not American idol.
Axelrod, the Obama-worshipping MSM, and Obama flooding the airways with his TV ads, are turning a lot of people off.
The real polls (not the CNN poll) showed McCain won the last debate.
I have a gut feeling this thing will backfire on Obama.
I’m a lifelong Democrat and everyone in my centrist-Dem circle is so disgusted with the DNC they’re either voting McCain or staying home. And my circle spreads to CA, CO, NY, and PA.
And no one has forgotten about Rev. Wright.
Obama – be afraid. Be very afraid.
is this for real? wouldn’t doubt it, actually. even if the person is fictitious, i bet the story is roughly accurate on obama’s startegy. buy/threaten everybody off, and present an image of inevitability. sometimes that works. sometimes it doesn’t.
I think this former campaign worker should go to hell along with John King for failing to speak out until now. It’s too late for them to be granted forgiveness. They need to live with the repurcussions of the role they have played in this travesty.

It will be a funny headline when November 5 sayes “Yes they were all wrong!” The Mac did it!! The American people were not asleep at the wheel!!!Go McCain/Palin!!
WRONG has nothing to do with it. They are ALL LIARS!
“lose their careers over this” sounds appropriate to me. After all, as the above post put it, we expect responsible journalist, responsible to get the facts out there so the people can decide. Who needs a bunch of talking heads saying nothing? This is too important an event for the media to decide they can play this out their way, how they want it…what a jokeIgnore the polls, endure the long lines, endure the weather and get your vote counted!!!
McCain/Palin 08
You know math was never my strong subject in school, but IMHO if PUMA’s could put such a dent in Oprah’s ratings for supporting the fraud and we have in fact by just seeing the ratings of those MSM channels that have dropped so rapidly and FOX ratings have gone way up, it would appear to me that the polls have about as much accuracy now as they had when Hillary was running in the primaries. I think they are over inflated and there will be Hell to pay on election night for the MSM who are pulling every low down trick they can to get him elected. Maybe they are having buyer’s remorse. Well good for them. Couldn’t happen to nicer folks. Maybe if there are riots in the street, they’ll go after MSM first for lying.
Oprah can’t even
give awaysell her magazine now. She’s resorted to having a Market Research company peddle her rag via USPS mail.Didn’t she refuse to have Palin on her show?
Yep…
Hit ‘em where it hurts. In their wallets.
Covering their rear ends! I think they are sensing the possibility of upsets despite their maximum push for O.
It will be a very, very long time before I watch those guys again, with the exception of Lou Dobbs. It’s FoxNews for me since the primaries. I prefer BBC anyway for international coverage.
John King is pandering to us. I am sure more and more people think that Fox news is more balanced than CNN, ABC or MSNBC.
Haven’t switched to any of those channels since the primary. I used to watch a lot of K Olbermann, G Stepha and
Trying to change people’s perception, aren’t they?
John King is pandering to us. I am sure more and more people think that Fox news is more balanced than CNN, ABC or MSNBC.

Trying to change people’s perception, aren’t they?
We, PUMAS and everybody who love this country can really make miracles. CNN and MSNBC tanked.
I’n not defending King – because if this is what he believes he could have done more “vetting stories” himself.
But I have seen him several times with Cambell (Alma is her real first name) Brown and even when he does point out the CNN polls are unreliable because they sample way more dems than repubs or indys, Brown just moves on as if he didn’t say it.
On MSNBC, I truly believe the walking orders come from the top at GE.
More than once I’ve seen Chris “Tweetie Bird” Mathews bash McCain with the Obama talking points then mid-sentence switch to defend McCain — then he mumbles something about “that’s my opinion” — and goes back to bashing Mac with Obama’s talking points on his teleprompter.
Perhaps — just perhaps — some of these guys, like Matthews who idolized Tip O’Neil, are having pangs of conscience about how the media is impacting politics intentionally.
But they’ve sold their souls for 7-figure salaries and they have lost all credibility with viewers.
Seriously — once you lose a TV audience it’s near impossible to get them back.
This cycle, Fox is actually living up to it’s tagline: fair and balanced.
John King can suck it! The same way all these other non-journalists who have not done their job and are now trying to wiggle their way out of their own incompetency can suck it big time.
And, of course, let’s blame Hillary Clinton for the distraction.
Will you give me a break! They’ve been in the tank from the start, wooing the “cool” guy like a bunch of highschool geeks, and then have the nerve to suggest HRC made them lose their way?
How about the savaging of Sarah Palin? Was that Hillary’s fault, too? Or the blind eye to Obama’s dubious past, his associations and friends, his political philosophy, his Chicago days? HRC’s fault? Why not take a look at Obama’s old district in Chicago. Did he make lives better or walk over the vulnerable for his own crass ambition?
Grow up! The press convinced everyone that Iraq was a good idea and now they’ve campaigned for Obama and his thugs for the White House. And what? The public’s suppose to say: okay guys, all’s forgiven. We trust you.
Not!
If the NYT goes down in flames. They deserve it. If MSNBC and CNN get trashed. Too bad. They brought it on themselves.
Am I bitter? You betcha. I own guns, too, and two big furry dogs. And though I’m a lapsed Catholic, I have plenty of family that still cling to their religion.
You cannot make this stuff up!
I don’t know who disgusts me more: the New Democratic Party or the cretins who call themselves journalists.
They both deserve to go down in flames! And I pray to God they do.
Precisely.
What a horse’s ass King is. Why doesn’t he discuss the pattern of response displayed this year whenever anyone criticized Obama? Gerry Ferraro criticizes Obama. She’s called a racist. Bill Clinton criticizes Obama. He’s called a racist. ABC attempt to challenge Obama during one of the primary debates. And they are slammed. We saw it all spring and through the summer. Most recently, a t.v. news anchor in Florida offers up some very rough questioning for Sen. Biden regarding what looks like Marxist philosophy in the Obama tax plan. And the Obama camp responds by canceling an interview the station had scheduled with Biden’s wife and blacklisting that station until “at least” the election. All spring and summer I moved back and forth between CNN and MSNBC … in disbelief. I finally landed on Planet Fox and I’ve been there ever since. And, as an odd footnote to what the Obama campaign has wrought, FOXNEWS ends up looking like the most fair and balanced media outlet in the history of the country. John King is a horse’s ass for not even mentioning that absurdity. FOX is a whole lot smarter, capitalizing on it every day, enjoying the ratings in a fair and balanced world. The rest of us have to wander the Internet to find the pieces of the truth scattered here and there and connect the dots ourselves. We don’t need you, Mr. King. Your brand of “reporting,” even without the Obama Adoration Society, it just not enough. Not anymore.
The rest of us have to wander the Internet to find the pieces of the truth scattered here and there and connect the dots ourselves.
-Amazing isn’t it?
Many American voters had to become journalists in order to discover the truth about this election.
These journalists are so full of sh*t.
Obama screwed them over, but they kept fawning over that piece of scum.
“But…I thought he was different!!”
“I thought he was the one!”
Now the regret has kicked in. They want to somehow salvage their repuations as they do their walk of shame back home to supposedly real journalism, – wearing the same outfit they wore when they first got into bed with Obama.
They don’t even know his real name. Barry? Barack?
They don’t know much certain times in his life, but the friends of his that they do know are creepy.
He has a shady past, shady friends, shady cash flow but they looked the other way.
There is no way that they can redeem themselves.
Too little, too late.
There will be lots of paid OBOT campaign workers out of a job on Nov 5th. So now, they confess that they will not be voting for him, just as I suspected. They only followed their orders from command, so they could collect a paycheck. Despicable! This is the lowest form of immorality ever!
Ani, fantastic post! So heartwarming to hear that the msm is getting what they so richly deserve!
I’m so happy that nq is back! Thank you Susan, Larry & Ani!
Glad to be back, socalannie — and thank you for sticking with us!!
ABC will air “Pushing Daisies” in its usual time period on Wednesday night — not the Barack Obama ad.
Lets make it the #1 show for the night! I’m watching.
We haven’t watched MSM news in months. We gave up on CNN and MSNBC nearly six months ago. If we hear something we might want a report on we go to FOX.
FOX!!! The station that was banned in our house!!
NO amount of apologies will get us back. We have turned the technology corner and will stick with NQ.
MSM is dead to us.
Except for Jim Cramer’s nightly serenade of Wall Street’s Collapse, I don’t watch anything anymore.
Zip. Zilch. Nada.
Ok. I’m lying. Iron Chef. Man those guys are fast. $200 dinners in the time it takes me to cook a burger.
I only watch re-runs of Two and a Half Men. If I’m going to witness misogyny I want it to be labeled a sitcom and actually make me laugh. The MSM is dead and gone and banned from my house.
It’s my opinion that the Old Media sense Obama may lose, despite their very best efforts. But no amount of mea culpas from these reckless, irresponsible blatherers will be enough for me. John King isn’t as bad as some others, but that’s not saying much. The nauseating Campbell Brown, Wolf Blitzer, David Gergen, Gloria Borger, Larry King — I could go on and on (I won’t even bother mentioning any of the MSNBC/NBC propagandists by name) — have done irreparable harm to this country. Their disservice is unforgivable.
they should be kicked in jail and the key thrown away!
“…have done irreparable harm to this country. Their disservice is unforgivable.”
The fourth estate on which democracy depends is dead. The media has betrayed its responsibility to we the people and they are traitors. No hyperbole: traitors.
“I was just following orders, just saving my job, just screwing over my fellow citizens because everything is negotiable, because I have no principles…, because…whine, whine, whine…”
And what can we do? Cancel subscriptions, write letters for the spam filter, call the “please hold, your call is being transfered…” line?
Bullshit! It’s their lives that are fair game. They sift through people’s lives with no respect or consideration for what they are doing and they do it with impunity. Post their addresses, their records, the phone numbers, their email addresses, all of it.
What they are doing is nothing like some kid playing pranks and being a jerk. These people are financed and accountable to no one except the person who pays them. They do this for a LIVING. They are in the public sphere. They terrorize people, TERRORIZE them. They are the kingmakers! They are the character assassins!
Thank You to all the Puma’s in all the States voting for Mccain/Palin….
God Bless America
AMEN!
GOD BLESS THE PUMAS!
There was a moment of introspection at the New York Times blog after the primary when readers were asked to present examples of media bias. Then they went right back to being biased. It seems to be a distinguishing trend among journalists to shoot first and ask questions later. But lately they haven’t even been drawing their guns.
Great Post!
There is hope out there all accross this country and that hope is for McCain!!!
Palin has worked wonders for McCain and she is going to be an amazing Vice President next to our President McCain.
Turn of the corporate news – it’ll do you good. I have first hand proof. I did it.
The media loves to self-critique. But this year, they went forward with their slanted coverage regardless of the viewer objections.
The only thing that will change them is if they go out of business, which they may well collapse.
The loss of revenues, however, is not due to the politics. It’s the economy.
The NYT & LAT has had declining revenues=layoffs for years now.A lot of people say it was because of their totally liberal political bias, so maybe print media will disappear as they rely on subscription $$$ from real people. TV, perhaps a different story, maybe a little more leeway in failing!?
I disagree that it is just the economy. Not too long ago, NYT decided to make subscribers pay a premium in to “Times Select” to view the work of their columnists. After about six months of this, they rescinded that and made the NYT on the net completely free again. They said that they did not foresee all the ad revenue that would come in as a result of internet hits and they didn’t need to charge anymore.
They lost a lot of ‘hits’ because they are a biased rag now. I used to be there constantly, checking in several times a day. No more.
I believe their bias has had an effect.
I know a lot of people in LA who work in the industry.
It’s dead right now, whether it’s print, TV, and even movies. Retail is dead. There are falling revenues from ad cutbacks. Advertising people are hardly working.
Good of Mr King to momentarily extract his head from his ass and tell us what we already knew.
Kinda reminds me of King’s more breathless regurgitations following early Bush administration Press Briefings.
Y’know what most of these reporters do? They google. They report what someone else already reported. If they’re really industrious they combine stories and make up a new one. The more the merrier. Pile it high. Who cares, who knows, and who gives a damn!
We saw this in spades in the reportage of Obama’s relationship with Ayers and the rest of the now academically sinecured Weather Underground. The reporting absolutely stunk. Everyone’s report, even the New York Times puff piece, could be traced back to one or two dodgy pieces in the Chicago Tribune & Chicago Sun-Times. So every time you see some witless, overpaid, overstuffed-shirt Talking Head on the tube asserting that Obama barely even knew Ayer’s name, you’re watching unmitigated bullshit.
I could care less what CNN or MSNBC is saying anymore, I stopped watching them long ago. The only audience they have left are those Obamabots who can afford cable.
“Change We Can Believe In”, is more like, “Change We Can Make-Believe In”
We have all stood strong in our conviction that we would not vote for Bo and now it’s coming to pass, more power to us and God Bless.
“McCain/Palin 08″
It’s predictable that after this is all over, the Press will proceed to self-flagellate, then they will go right back to doing whatever they did before. They NEVER, EVER seem to learn to be fair — they apparently just can’t help themselves, they are so very much in love…………
Clever King. Now they get out from under criticism by admitting what they did. Timing calculated to be as close to the election as possible. Oh Mr King – what a hypocrite you are.
I wouldn’t be too hard on King. During the debates I noticed he was the one lone voice raising some good questions but was repeatedly shouted down by his gabbling cohorts. It isn’t the reporters who control what they yack about, it’s their bosses. And many of those bosses are very cozy with Obama.
Well that’s still just early voting so I wouldn’t count the unhatched chicks yet. But…
I
The good news is that I think all Republicans will vote McCain but NOT all Democrats will vote BO. Many of them will vote third party and a smaller percentage will vote McCain. So yes, it appears very, very close!
Remember: The Patriots were supposed to win the Super Bowl last year! They were also so ridiculously favored in every game that even they–as great as they were–almost never made the point spread, which was often ludicrously high even for such a good high-scoring team. And in the end, the scrappy Giants won the S.Bowl. And Obama is no Tom Brady!
Great post Ani!
I heartily agree: too little, too late.
I used to subscribe to the Sunday NY Times; I would pick up the daily NY Times several times a week at my local coffee shop.
I used to read the Washington Post on-line every morning.
I used to watch MSNBC every evening.
By Feburary 2008, I stopped watching MSNBC – the Hillary hate was over the top.
By June I let my NY Times subscription lapse. It was clear it learned nothing from the Judith Miller fiasco – it just continued printed one-sided versions of a story. To hell with objectivity. (Can’t talk about Obama’s drug use, but Cindy McCain’s is ok?) I gave up the Post around that time as well. To think that paper used to care about abuses of power – not one word about causcus fraud, unaccounted for Obama campaign expenditures, etc.
I refuse to look at the vast majority of the MSM now because of the sickening treatment of Palin. CNN is as bad as MSNBC. And I will NEVER buy a GE product.
It is now NQ, Drudge and Fox for me. If the NY Times is now a junk bond status, if MSNBC has fewer viewers than producers, if the Post is becoming a second-rate paper, well, so be it. These media outlets did it to themselves.
These orgnaization are not staffed by reporters, not by journalists, but by hacks who like to look in the mirror. They think they have something pithy to say, but it is usually just mean-spirited drivel, and generally said at the expense of a woman.
Mr King..sweat your balls off…This is one formerly elected Dem who has voted McCain/Palin, already by absentee..I did not change my affiliation, so Obama could not game or steal my vote..Mr King..I carried my absentee ballot in by hand and made sure it was checked by the clerk in the Supervisor of Elections office..and marked ..voted..before I turned it into the ballot box..as did my husband and son..also registered dems.
Ya know what Mr. King..you fecked yourself..you sold your soul and this countgry out..you will pay dearly for that.
Every dem but one I know is voting Mccain/Palin..they know what you have done and they have shut you out..and we collectively will shut your sorry asses down!
Chicago Tribune and NYT have been cancelled at our home. Radio news has it that Tribune has already printed the “Obama wins” front page. Obama is building a massive stage in Grant Park (I drove past it this morning. Spare me.
Tahnk you Ani!!! Great reporting!!!!
At least he noticed…
