RBO: Team Cuba” — Ayers, Dohrn, just “two political activists” from Obama’s neighborhood, visited Cuba in September 2008

Cross-Posted from The Real Barack Obama.

Sung to the tune of “The Way We Were”.

************************************

If the MSM had any difficulty, or even cared about, finding unrepentant domestic terrorist and Weather Underground leader Bill Ayers, or his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, during a week this past September, it was perhaps because they didn’t know where to look — or, most likely, weren’t looking.

The radical couple had made a little offshore visit to that four-letter island off Florida’s coast in the company of this lady, Chicago composer, flutist, and performance artist — and longtime Kenwood resident, a.k.a. Obama neighbor, and supporterJanice Misurell-Mitchell, Co-Artistic Director of CUBE Contemporary Chamber Ensemble in Chicago since 1989, and wife of University of Chicago English and Art History professor W.J.T. Mitchell, also an Obama supporter.

How do we know? Well, thanks to sharp-eyed RBO reader jr, we have the Winter 2008 CUBE Ensemble newsletter that says so.

So, how did the Ayers-Dohrn “political activists” manage to travel to Cuba? Looks like they may have qualified as “full-time professionals“:

Full-time professionals whose travel transactions are directly related to professional research in their professional areas, provided that their research:

(1) is of a noncommercial academic nature, (2) comprises a full work schedule in Cuba, and (3) has a substantial likelihood of public dissemination.

Full-time professionals whose travel transactions are directly related to attendance at professional meetings or conferences in Cuba organized by an international professional organization, institution, or association that regularly sponsors such meetings or conferences in other countries. The organization, institution, or association sponsoring the meeting or conference may not be headquartered in the United States unless it is specifically licensed to sponsor the meeting. The purpose of the meeting or conference cannot be the promotion of tourism in Cuba or other commercial activities involving Cuba, or to foster production of any biotechnological products.

Venceremos Brigade-Weatherman

This must have been a highly nostalgic walk down the international revolutionary “memory lane” for Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn.

The following, which comes from an August 1976 redacted FBI report, provides a clear background. When, in July 1969, Vietnamese representatives met with “leading Weatherpeople” (including Dohrn) in Havana, Cuba,

… the influence of Vietnamese representatives on the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) leadership became sharply pronounced. At the same time, the example of the Cuban revolution became the guide for the emerging American student revolutionary. With an increasing number of trips to Havana where the youthful revolutionary could learn at first hand how to create revolution, the influence of Cuba on the developing WUO was enormous.

The WUO obtained their revolutionary methodology from the Cubans and Vietnamese and, importantly, put into practice what they had learned from them. [...]

So, when Huynh Van Ba, representative of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of Vietnam (PRG), instructed WUO to “look for the person who fights hardest against cops…Don’t look for the one who says the best thing. Look for the one who fights,” the campus base was forgotten and the WUO began to recruit the greasers and assorted oddments who had displayed their hatred of authority in direct combat with police.”

All New Obama – Ayers connection audio

New audio of Bill Ayers calling in to Obama appearance on radio show:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXbKpPKYu-Q

but he’s just a guy from the neighborhood….

Comment by sharon | 2008-10-28 22:18:36

If you had even the smallest PROOF that the people speaking on the youtube video ARE Bill ayers, which you do not and the voices do NOT sound alike at all, what difference does it make? so someone named bill calls in to Obama on talk radio? what the heck does that prove? NOTHING!
these attacks are so blatantly thin – there is no truth or substance to any of this and even if there was, so what?

Slightly OT, but I could use some help on this for some of my wavering associates.

Ref: the Obama Tax Plan, can someone clarify something for me. I read (I think it was the WSJ, but can’t find it) somewhere that that $250,000 (until apparently lowered today by Joe Biden, but I wouldn’t quote Biden on anything) was really a bit deceptive for a couple of reasons:

(1) Because of the basis for the calculation. Seems like it equates to an AGI of $160K plus a little. Which captures a much higher percentage of people than 5% (for the 95% tax reduction number Obama quotes). Or, I’m off here but it had something to do with the number 250 actually being lower in practice. Does anybody have information on this?

and

(2) Because it ignores the effects of Obama’s other proposals (this being only one aspect of his overall tax plan), such as rolling back previous tax cuts (that’s an INCREASE in current taxes, any way you cut it), eliminating the estate tax deductions (or eliminating thresholds, same effect), raising capital gains taxes by almost 100%, and raising the FICA cut-off, fooling with the Self-Employment Tax and other things.

There may be more but I’d like someone who gets all this to explain it (or refute it, whichever is correct) in terms that I can use with my grandma. Or my 10 year old.

In other words, the common (under-informed) voter.

OK Larry et al, get a load of this one.

WARREN: “Many of the polls show that your ticket may be headed to victory in November and that the Democrats may pick up a larger number of seats in the House and perhaps win 10 seats for a filibuster proof Senate. Republicans are beginning to make the argument that that means Democratic dominance in Washington, unchecked power. Is that a good thing?”

BIDEN: “First of all, we’re no where near there. We have 8 days to go. This is the most important election in the public’s life. They are looking at these races very closely. I think this is going to be much closer than everyone thinks it is. Second, with regard to the Democratic Party, this is a new Democratic Party not the party of the 70s and 80s. This is a party that has adjusted to the realities of a new world order.

New World Order! Joe Biden, the gift that keeps on giving, has done it again. STAND UP FOR CHUCK!

Viva la Revolution!!!!!

I hear a Cuba Libre (a/k/a rum and coke with a lime) is pretty good. You just sit around and drink those all day while the state does your laundry and runs your errands before coming home to cook a sumptuous meal, supplied by the state kitchens, from fresh ingredients grown on the state farms, where nobody is working because all citizens are sitting around enjoying a nice Cuba Libre on the veranda.

Wait. That can’t work.

Ah, hell. Comrade Obama’s gonna have to explain me that one again, I got it all mixed up.

Anyway, sounds much groovy. Sign me up!!!

Punch number two is coming. Get Ready!

The first punch they predicted was exposing Obama’s true socialist nature, through his connection to William Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, Frank Marshall, Raila Odinga, Samantha Power, and other assorted kooks, radicals, and loons. Thanks to Obama’s mask slipping on the visit with Joe the Plumber, this punch has been a big CHECK. The only thing that has not come out in terms of this are the audiotapes we’ve been told repeatedly exist of Obama campaigning with Cousin Odinga in Kenya back in 2006, where Obama agrees with Odinga’s anti-American sentiments and says the American national anthem is a racist, violent war song and must be replaced with something passive, peaceful and wholly secular. Obama’s dealings in Kenya have not come to light at all — which is a sham, we feel, because 7 days before the election is not enough time to bring any of this out. It’s not enough time to sink in.

The second punch we were told was coming involves Obama’s presence at a 2003 dinner where Palestinian Rhashid Khalidi was honored, amongst frequent calls for the immediate destruction of the state of Israel. Obama and Michelle attended this hatefest, smiling throughout, with reports of Bernadine Dohrn and William Ayers in attendance (and possibly sharing a table with the Obamas).

Read the whole thing.

Per Hillbuzz, it looks like Punch Number 2 may be coming tomorrow or Thursday.

The 0bamas at the Khalidi dinner where the call went out for the destruction of Israel – and they’re hinting that maybe Ayers and Dohrn are sitting WITH barky and Meeechelle at their very table, putting the lie to a whole buncha stuff said by barfy.

hillbuzz dot wordpress dot com – can’t get the link to post – sorry.

Could the tape be in the hands of the republicans?

And check out the photo of Meeeechelle – lovely!

Comment by John | 2008-10-28 19:07:43

tick tock tick tock. release. I will be patient

Comment by Jason | 2008-10-28 19:08:12

A Brooklyn lawmaker, Democrat Dov Hikind, has called for the release of the dinner tape:

http://wcbstv.com/campaign08/barack.obama.palestinian.2.850872.html

“Why isn’t the truth being told to the American people so they can really know what the relationship was between Sen. Obama and Rashid Khalidi?” asked New York Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn).

Hikind, a Democrat who endorsed McCain, is furious the video is not being released.

“This is fundamental, you know, when you’re associated with people who support terrorism, who are connected to terrorists, we want to know more about that relationship,” said Hikind.

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-10-28 19:11:09

I want to know why there is only one tape. This doesn’t make sense to me.

Comment by Firefly | 2008-10-28 19:16:58

Hillbuzz hints that the republicans have it too:

All eyes are on the LA Times right now — so if the tape sits in GOP hands, it’s far better for the Times to be pressured to release it on its own, and to do so at a time when the narrative shouldn’t be about Obama’s big informercial, but instead about Obama sitting at dinner with terrorists, laughing and having a grand old time while speaker after speaker calls for the destruction of Israel and the death of all Israelis.

And at the end they add:

It seems at least 15% of the electorate plans to make up its mind whom to vote for this coming Sunday, when they gather together as a family and talk about the election.

So, we expect this Khalidi tape to drop Wednesday or Thursday, with some Jeremiah Wright reminders making news Friday and Saturday, and possibly that third punch, whatever it is, landing square on Obama’s jaw Saturday, Sunday, or Monday.

Ah, Cuba. The destination for a million and one starry eyed socialists each year who think it so cool that its residents are trapped in a fifties time warp.

And what trip to Cuba would be complete without a visit to one of their Potemkin hospitals in Havana – the ones only open to foreign tourists and high ranking members of Castro’s regime, the ones which inspire socialists to tell the world how superior Cuba’s health care is (while ordinary Cubans languish in rat and roach infested hospitals outside of the capital in which needles are regularly reused and equipment rarely sterilized).

A group of socialist pilgrims led by Ron Rodosh visited one such Potemkin hospital in Cuba in the 60’s. I expect they were much like Ayer’s group today. In fact I’m pretty confident that Rodosh and Ayers were associates – they certainly ran in the same radical circles in the 60’s and 70’s. A quote about the visit, from Mona Charen’s “Useful Idiots”:

In the course of the visit, despite their Communist tour guide’s manly attempts to obscure reality, Radosh at least was able to perceive that the Cuban people were suffering. Most of the other members of the delegation, however, chose to check their consciences at the door. After visiting a Cuban mental hospital, members of the group were a little dismayed to learn that lobotomy was a widely practiced “therapy” for mental patients (long after the practice had been abandoned in the U.S.). In fact, most of those commited to mental hospitals in Cuba were lobotomized. One member of the group protested, saying, “This stinks. Lobotomy is a horror. We must do something to stop this. It’s exactly what we’re working against at home.” But another pilgrim, Suzanne Ross, was unperturbed: “We have to understand that there are differences between capitalist lobotomies and socialist lobotomies.”

:)

I must point out at this point that unlike Ayers, Ron Radosh saw the error of his radical ways and like David Horowitz, has since reformed and become an outspoken critic of left wing radicalism.

“Visiting Cuba?”

Only if you can live on 80 bucks a night for the room and 78 bucks a day for food & drink. That is, if Big Brother at the Office of Foreign Assets Control views your trip as an approved activity and issues you a license to travel.

“Does this mean the FBI will be at their residence for a chat?”

No, but they may find a pizza truck parked across the street for a couple of weeks.

You know all of this makes one wonder how many video tapes, radio interviews, print new stories, and photographs are really out there with BO and friends. If he spent 600 million trying to keep them all suppressed there must be a helluva lot.

Comment by TeakWoodKite | 2008-10-28 20:02:32

Does anyone have a way of checking to see if anyof these alias come up on the radar as being in Hawaii during Obama’s teenage years?

In the FBI report, written while Ayers and Dohrn were still “underground”, we find “William Charles Ayers, Aka Michael Joseph Rafferty, Jr., Jules Michael Taylor, Hank Anderson”:

I thank the authors because I have wondered where the hell these futigives from justices, Ayers and Dorn spent there time on the lamb. Especially as it relates to Franky.
