“Racy Content”

I don’t know about you, but I am pretty darn tired of being called a racist for not wanting Obama anywhere near the White House. As I have said about a gazillion times, it is just as racist to vote for someone BECAUSE of their skin color as it is to vote against them because of their skin color.

In Obama’s case, it has nothing to do with the color of his skin at all. It is because I think he is horribly inexperienced, a liar, a fraud, pals around with dangerous associates, has an ideology with which I completely disagree (you know, Paternalistic Socialism with a heavy dose of Nation of Islam-like attitude – just ask Rev. Wright), and is a major freakin’ misogynistic homophobe. That pretty much rules him out in my book. But that’s just me.

And apparently, Jonah Goldberg, who also doesn’t appreciate the frequent, no, RAMPANT use of the race card by the Obama Campaign and the DNC, as evidenced by this article, Racy Content
This? Racist! That? Racist!
.

Goldberg makes some mighty good points in this article, beginning here:

Transcend means “to move beyond, to surpass.” At least that’s what I always thought. But I’m beginning to wonder whether it means instead: “Much, much more of the same, only this time really stupid.”

Exhibit A: the incessant, relentless, click-your-ruby-red-slippers-and-say-it-until-it-comes-true mantra that Barack Obama will magically cause America to “transcend race.” One hears and reads this everywhere, but less as an argument than as a prayer, an expression of faith, a “from my lips to The One’s ear” sort of thing.

It is, of course, total and complete nonsense. According to L.B.O. (Logic Before Obama), transcending race would involve making race less of an issue. Passengers on Spaceship Obama would see race shrink and then vanish in the rearview mirror.

Instead, Obama has set off a case of full-blown race dementia among precisely the crowd that swears Obama is leading us out of the racial wilderness. Rather than shrink, the tumor of racial paranoia is metastasizing, pressing down on the medulla oblongata or whatever part of the brain that, when poked, causes one to hallucinate, conjure false memories and write astoundingly insipid things. For instance, a writer for Slate sees racism when anyone notes that Barack Obama is — wait for it — skinny. What this portends for Fat Albert is above my pay grade.

OHMYGOSH – how much do you love, “LBO”?? It is SO true, though, isn’t it? Our whole vocabulary has been redifined as a result of Obama:

We need to rewrite those old Schoolhouse Rock cartoons, because now virtually any adjective, noun, verb, or adverb aimed at Barack Obama that is not obsequiously sycophantic or wantonly worshipful runs the risk of being decried as racist. Community organizer? Racist! Mentioning his middle name? Racist! Arrogant? Racist! Palling around with a (white) terrorist? Racist! Celebrity? Racist! Cosmopolitan? Racist! This? Racist! That? Racist! The other thing? Oh man, that’s really racist.

The new Schoolhouse Rock cartoon: “Conjunction: a word that connects a racist attack and Barack Obama.”

Oh, perfect – I can just see that new “Conjunction Junction” piece right now. Anyone who disagrees will be yelled at, threatened, and called a racist over and over and over until they acquiesce. Perfect! Or, maybe it will go something more like this:

This week, an editorial writer for the Kansas City Star denounced John McCain and Sarah Palin for suggesting that Obama is a socialist because he wants to “spread the wealth around.” Don’t they understand that “socialist” has always been a racist codeword used by bigots like J. Edgar Hoover to demonize black activists like W.E.B. Du Bois?

A couple problems: First, as best I can remember, Marx, Engels, Lenin, George Bernard Shaw, Eugene V. Debs, Norman Thomas, and Michael Harrington do not usually get a lot of attention during Black History Month. Second, as writer Michael Moynihan recently noted, Du Bois wasn’t merely a socialist, he was a Stalinist! (Du Bois was not entirely unsympathetic to the Nazis, either.) Besides, when did “socialist” stop being an anti-Semitic codeword for Jew? Maybe when the left started going batty over “neocons.” But that’s a story for another day.

Now, just hold the damn phone. How in the HELL can anyone claim that correctly acknowledging one’s political ideology, in this case, socialism, is RACIST??? Well, holy crap – all those times my buddies at Union and I joked about how we just CANNOT play Monopoly (we kept giving each other houses, money, whatever was needed) because we were socialists we were being RACIST!! Wowie zowie. Ahem. Really, this kind of BS has just gone way, way, WAY too far.

As is the idea that Obama will “transcend” anything, except morals, ethics, and common sense, but especially race:

The idea that Obama was ever really about transcending race flies completely in the face of his own writings. The overarching theme of his book Dreams From My Father is the story of (a) man who found it impossible to transcend race and instead explicitly chose to have a racial identity when he didn’t have to (he describes fellow multiracial students he met in college as sellouts). He then joined a black church whose theology is shot-through with black nationalism and whose longtime pastor believes that black brains are different from white brains.

But, yes, I know: The above paragraph reads: “Blah, blah, blah … racist, racism, racey-race-racism.”

Now, let us actually transcend race for a moment. Apparently for Obama, “transcend” isn’t a racial term so much as a euphemism for declaring victory. He says he wants to “turn the page” on the arguments of the ’80s and ’90s, by which he means conservatives should stop clinging to their guns and antiquated Sky God and join his cause.

Well, yes, because who could not be moved by such Rainbow-y, hope-y, change-y, pretty little unicorn-y type of rhetoric like,

“they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

Oh, WHERE do I sign up?!?! Obama surely does have his own lexicon:

He told Planned Parenthood he wants to stop “arguing about the same ole stuff,” by which he means he wants people who disagree with his absolute support for government-funded abortion on demand to shut up already.

He doesn’t want to argue about his pals from the Weather Underground who murdered or celebrated the murder of policemen and other Americans, he just wants everyone to agree no one should care.

In short, Obama and his disciples only demand one kind of transcendence from all Americans. We must, as Obama likes to say, unite as one people, one nation, one American family and transcend all of our misgivings about Barack Obama. Then, and only then, will The One fulfill his wife’s pledge and fix our broken souls.

Only a racist could possibly disagree.

— Jonah Goldberg is the author of Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left from Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning.

Apparently. You know, as a Southerner who grew up with African American classmates and friends, serving African American men in my grandmother’s little country store, doing a BUNCH of anti-racism work as an adult, to then be called a “racist” because I don’t support an unacceptable candidate is just a tad harsh. What I find to be racist are all of the people who support this unqualified candidate ONLY because of his skin-color, who refuse to hold him to the same standards as anyone else, and belittle those who try. THAT, folks, is racism, in my humble opinion, of course. But hey – it’s a whole new dictionary now, right??

The best article of the primary race baiting is by Sean Wilentz. ‘Race Man’ is its name.

BREAKING: Sean Hannity is reporting on new ACORN revelations regarding their illegal methods. Hannity is discussing this on his radio show. Only heard snippets so far. More info:

Amy,

Your piece is fabulous. And your closing paragraph lays it on the line. I am sick to death of those I know who are lining up to support him, knowingly excusing every single valid reason not to vote for him.

Further this Goldberg line is a keeper:

First, as best I can remember, Marx, Engels, Lenin, George Bernard Shaw, Eugene V. Debs, Norman Thomas, and Michael Harrington do not usually get a lot of attention during Black History Month.

Comment by Rob G in Chicago | 2008-10-29 17:12:20

Obama is nowhere near finished in his efforts to collect personal information. Case in point is his planned celebratory party in Grant Park in Chicago on resurrection night. Nobody can just show up at the party. If one wants to attend, they must register on line for tickets, and provide all sorts of contact and personal information. I understand that all available tickets have been spoken for. I wonder how much the scalpers will be able to get for these tickets. What is the going rate for recycled waste paper ?

Ever since Obama (and this started with his race baiting of the Clintons) NYC is once again seething – you can feel it in the streets. We haven’t had this kind of tension, and yeah when I am called a “cracker” because I walk quietly by someone, I believe it’s racial tension. Me and my friends are really angry about what is happening here.

I heard John McCain interviews with Larry King tommorow. I don’t know it it’s opposite King Sh&t but I’ll sit in the freakin dark before I put his lying mouth on my tv set.

It is so sad that we have to agree with Golberg, Lucy’s son. But that what the DNC has boought us to. Did anyone hear Rolly Martin say on CNN last night that this movement was the end of the DLC?

Comment by Lorraine | 2008-10-29 14:42:38

Why is it sad. I find it refreshing. I have always admired Jonah Goldberg. I guess as a Conservative Republican that is only natural.
But I also enjoy coming here to a Centrist Democratic website. Get a kick out of your articles and agree with you (most of the time). Gee, and all this was made possible by BHO. Whoever would have thunk it.
Have a wonderful day. And we who love America are in this boat together. Democrats, Republicans, Conservatives, Liberals, Independents and such.

Comment by pamOBSP | 2008-10-29 15:06:34

If find it sad because a lot of us here are democrates that have been disenfranchised. We did not want our party going so left.
After over 20 years, I now understand Regan Democrates.

Comment by Lorraine | 2008-10-29 15:35:10

I am sad for you…but I really do understand. I lost my party too. The Republican party is no longer what I feel it should be. We have lost something. And part of the blame (but not all of it) goes to GWB.
So I can empathise with you and when I say I feel your pain, I really do.
Our only hope right now is trying to salvage both partys and maybe make two decent partys again. I hope.
That is why our being able to cross reference between conservative websites and moderate democratic websites is heartening to me. We are coming together. And that is important in these trying times.

Comment by Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy | 2008-10-29 18:20:05

My partner commented a few weeks ago that now we know how moderate Republicans felt when their party was taken over by the Right Wing (and I wasn’t moderate – pretty far to the left, but there is no way I can support what the Dem. Party has become now and look at myself in the mirror…).

Thanks for your comments, Lorraine – I appreciate them!

You are right there! Not only is he uniting it in ways never intended; he has also re-energized those who usually watch on the sidelines. At the same time, when he loses, I’m afraid alot of o’bots will feel disenfranchised and stay away from politics for a few elections. Maybe that will be a good thing, since I’d prefer if idiots don’t vote.

I have a feeling, that after this elections, the parties will be cleaned up; the media will be cleaned up; and voting rules will be cleaned up.

McCain and Palin, along with Hillary, are going to be busy for the next 4 years.

Barack Obama is using a dangerous mind-control technique known as rational argument, which has been proven effective in influencing the opinions of intelligent listeners.

He’s gotten to where he is by giving a clear voice to the thoughts that millions of Americans were already thinking. This is what Obama’s detractors don’t seem to get: Obama isn’t the gathering storm; Obama is just the weathervane.

Comment by Shiloh | 2008-10-29 15:15:55

Why is it that after listening to him, no-one can clearly articulate exactly what those thoughts are?

Comment by anon | 2008-10-29 15:56:29

I’ve had no trouble understanding what Barack Obama has been saying. I’m always deeply puzzled by those who insist that the man is an intellectual lightweight, that he can’t express himself clearly, or that his words are empty of clear ideological content and intention. He strikes me as one of the brightest and most articulate democrats we’ve had in years.

If he’s elected, the skill set that makes him so effective a campaigner will be applied to the job of the President. My guess is that even his detractors would eventually have to admit that we’ve got ourselves an unusually effective leader.

If he wins the election, time will tell. He’ll either perform or be out in four years.

The people who are seduced most easily are the artistically focused group and I believe them to be Obamites. Which explains why Hillary and McCalin supporters never caught the ‘aura’ of The One, The Precious. Never succumbed to the Kool-Aid trance most prevalent in his ‘followers’.

I made have butchered Myers-Briggs concept but it is real. You see how effective its been on the psychologically vulnerable.

But it will be all for naught. The only ones tuning in for 30 minutes of ALL OBAMA ALL THE TIME are the ones that take their cult-like fix intravenously.

Partially on Point, following sent to Ruth Marcus @ Washington Post ref: her article “A New Kind of Politics: Good Luck With That.” It’s not bad but that’s only because it’s a drop of water to us who have been wandering in the desert.

[To Ruth Marcus; WPo; 12:33 p.m. pst; 2008_10_29]

Ruth:

Very nice piece, and thank you for it. So surprising to see anyone these days that thumps the melon, even a little, rather than tossing it in the cart and heading for the checkout lane.

We all know the old adage, “Follow the money.” But, in this case, I like “Actions Speak.” Put another way, “What you do speaks so loudly that I can’t hear what you’re saying.”

Even people who walk above the ground on an invisible platform erected by grand phrases and fawning followers leave footprints in the snow. Despite current indications to the contrary, nobody comes from nowhere. Or, as Joe Biden’s fond (or used to be fond) of saying, “Past is prologue.”

Only one comment other than thank you for peeking under the covers.

A fact can have negative implications (e.g., if someone who didn’t particularly like me pointed out that I was a member of the Mob (which I’m not — if there still is a mob — just an illustration). That does not make stating the fact negative. At least not in the sense that it’s unwarranted or, somehow, underhanded.

So, the only slight difference I might have with the assumptions in your piece would be this — to look at the difference between fighting and fighting dirty. And, as to the “who started it” question, I’d want to see a much clearer indication that Barack Obama’s attacks on John McCain (will cut Social Security benefitts, as you point out, opposes stem cell research, doesn’t support veterans, is not likely to live beyond the Inauguration, and others) were merely a necessary and understandable response by an otherwise pure and upright visionary.

One thing we have learned in this campaign, Barack Obama and David Axelrod are Chicago street politicians and any suggestion that they’d prefer the high road but have been forced to fight dirty to protect themselves is simply laughable. I hark back to the primary, when it was suggested that Hillary Clinton’s people were tough, and Barack Obama announced that they’d introduce Hillary to some old-fashioned “Chicago politics” with the added note, “If they bring knives, we’ll bring guns.” Hardly sounds like an innocent victim to me.

Again, past is prologue.

And, you touch on this quite well as it relates to the notion of Barack Obama’s claim to the mantle of “Post-Partisan”.

The idea of post-partisanship might sound nice (it does, of course). It’s good for a campaign speech. But, is there any evidence of the theory in practice in the speaker’s past? Not in this case. Obama talks about McCain voting “with Bush” even though with Bush is a bit hard to define (McCain is a Republican so you’d expect him to generally vote as a Republican — though his exceptions to that rule are legend). This is not about the McCain=Bush “issue” (itself a very hard sell) but, rather, about the idea of post-partisanship. Barack Obama has voted (and acted) in almost total lock-step with his party the short time he’s been in the Senate.

People promise to change every day (gamblers, drinkers, philanderers, whatever). Most of us view those promises with at least a large does of skepticism, even while holding out hope.

Maybe that’s the change Obama is promising. That he, himself, is going to change.

Okay, I say. That would be great. Good luck. But, I’ll keep one eyebrow slightly raised until I see some action to back up the promise.

Anyway, I enjoyed your piece. Thank you.

There was someone on the NQ site who had quite sense of humor who said that they had been called a racist so many times for merely not supporting Obama that they sometimes felt like skipping down the street singing something from a TV commercial (modified) which went somthing like, “I’m a racist, He’s a racist, She’s racist. Wouldn’t you like to be a racist too?”
(It was funnier the way they phrased it. ;^) If people are going to be be called racist simply because they think Obama having a faux presidential seal or the “Baracakolis” at the Democratic convention is arrogant then the word lost its meaning-as regards Obama-some time ago. The most ludicrous is when AA bloggers who don’t reveal their race and don’t care for Obama’s candidacy are called racist by people unaware of their ethnicity.

When Hillary Clinton won New Hampshire, all we heard on the “news” was about the damn Bradley Effect, and boo hoo hooo for Obama. Instead of celebrating the first time a woman won a Presidential Primary, we were treated to accusations of racism.

This week, when I got that shitty email from the O’bots asking everyone to stay home on Election Day, the first thing I thought was wow, what arrogance. Does Obama and his bots not realize that history will be made regardless of which party wins???? Does Obama not realize that anyone who can afford to take a day off from work without repercussions probably doesn’t need a tax break?

But then I became really really concerned with this latest directive from the Obama camp. Gut instinct says that Obama does not concede the election to McCain, and instead, he and his minions promote civil unrest in cities around the U.S. (Chicago is most likely going to turn into a bonfire regardless of the outcome.) But I have no doubt Obama will accuse Republicans of rigging the election and in turn, promote and incite riots. The narcissist can not lose.

And this point you made:

” Instead of celebrating the first time a woman won a Presidential Primary, we were treated to accusations of racism.”

So succinct. We were robbed every step of the way, of celebrating Hillary’s milestones.

And I was there campaigning in NH…the local support was vast for Hillary, and it was warm support, and people were excited about her.

The only support for Obama I saw were the paid imported agitators, and maybe one or two households.

ACORN Staffer Testifies That Barack Obama’s Campaign Provided ACORN with Donor List in 2007

These are jealously guarded things.

How jealously guarded? Well, Hillary Clinton requested Obama provide her with this list, so she could contact his donors and try to get her campaign debts paid off.

He refused. Despite the fact that he was actively courting her support.

But he gave it ACORN, a group with which he has “no ties.”

One note of caution: She was fired, apparently for running up charges on her ACORN credit card, so she’s a disgruntled employee.

But then, only disgruntled employees spill on their employers.

A former staffer for an affiliate of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now testified today that the organization was provided a “donor list” from the presidential campaign of Barack Obama in late 2007 for fundraising efforts.

Anita Moncrief, a former Washington, D.C. staffer for Project Vote, which she described as a sister organization of ACORN, said her supervisor told her the list of campaign contributors came from the Obama campaign. Moncrief said she has a copy of a “development plan” that outlines how Obama contributors who had “maxed out” under federal contribution limits would be targeted to give to Project Vote, and that it was her job to identify such contributors.

Moncrief testified that ACORN and Project Vote were virtually identical.

A Republican lawyer submitted a computer disk of the Obama database to Commonwealth Court Judge Robert Simpson.

Moncrief, whom Project Vote fired earlier this year, testified for more than two hours during a hearing on a Pennsylvania Republican Party lawsuit aimed at curbing voter fraud in Tuesday’s general election.

An Obama campaign spokeswoman last week had said the campaign has “no ties” to ACORN.

Moncrief, 29, who now lives in Virginia, also said that she had taken a call from an Obama campaign worker inquiring whether it was the same organization Obama had worked with in the 1990’s.

Moncrief said she had received repeated warnings to “back off” from testifying today by people she knows at ACORN.

“I thought it was powerful testimony. She took a great personal risk,” said Heather Heidelbaugh, an attorney representing the state GOP.

I hope they are going to put this woman in a Witness Protection Program, because I am sure the press is already camped outside her house/apt. and ready to devour her. Did you hear that they have been investigating the TV anchor, Barbara West’s, HUSBAND? He’s a…Republican. Horrors. So, I guess ASSOCIATIONS DO matter when they are connected to Obama critics huh? They just don’t matter if they are Obama associates.

No freakin’ kidding. I heard this guy on Fox News this morning who has been campaigning with John McCain. He was talking abt the thugs in Obama’s camp, and how his supporters tried to force their bus off the road (they would swerve in front of it and slam on their breaks). What in the WORLD has Obama wrought, and why are so many (allegedly) intelligent liberals supporting this man? Go figure. (And I’ll try to find out the guy’s name…)

OT BREAKING NEWS: A former ACORN worker has testified in PA, exposing extensive fraud and non-existent quality control in the organization. They have also confirmed continual communications with the Obama Campaign. Lund of the Wall St. Journal spent hours talking to her, and is writing an expose for the paper, possibly tomorrow, time allowing. This is BIG!

“What I find to be racist are all of the people who support this unqualified candidate ONLY because of his skin-color, who refuse to hold him to the same standards as anyone else, and belittle those who try. THAT, folks, is racism, in my humble opinion, of course. But hey – it’s a whole new dictionary now, right??”

And this would be the KEY problem and our so called “black leaders” do not seem to understand. White America will not stand with us against injustices if all you do is belittle and make them feel terrible about being white. So calling them racists is NOT GOING TO HELP. All it’s going to do is breed hatred and contempt and throw racial issues back to the 1940s.

If a person is not allowed to question our would be leaders- where are we going as a society?

Comment by NoBamaNoWay | 2008-10-29 18:07:35

exactly; i think MLK had the right approach, which is nonviolence and rejecting reverse or “revenge” discrimination. some other black leaders have preached something more like separatism and “doing to them what they did to us.” as a gay, atheist, female i sometimes feel like doing the latter, but i know #1. it’s not right, and #2. it won’t help anything, it will only makes things worse. if obama wins, i fear we will be in for a whole lot of friction between all kinds of groups in america.

Comment by Right on the Left Coast | 2008-10-29 15:05:36

I know this territory has been covered, but it bears repeating, particularly given RRR Amy’s fine post. Barack Obama’s entire campaign is based upon Americans trusting him to do things he has never in his life done.

Lower taxes…never done it, but he says he will;

Reform government…never done it, but he says he will;

Work in a bipartisan manner…never done it, but he says he will;

Keep money out of politics…never done it, but he says he will;

Display better judgement…never done it, but he says he will;

and the kicker…transcend race…absolutely never done it, but he says he will.

I’m sure you all could add much more to this list off the top of my head. It really is one of the greatest leaps of faith this country has taken.

It’s not just inexperience, its that his experience is absolutely the polar opposite of everything he says he stands for. The fact that his followers can’t see this is one of the most frightening aspects of it all.

Comment by Brian_C82 | 2008-10-29 15:05:43

This is off topic, but I was reading the fine print on the latest Newsweek poll which shows a 12% lead for Obama, and noticed that Newsweek is actually weighing the data so that sample demographics match the demographics of the US Census. Furthermore, Newsweek’s classification of a respondent as a “likely voter” is based entirely on responses to questions about voting history and “intentions”. Just read the first two pages of their report:

http://www.newsweek.com/id/165570?tid=relatedcl

In other words, the clowns at Newsweek are assuming that age, race, education, and geography have no effect on one’s chances of voting! What a crock of shit!

Comment by Galt, Master Thrall of Planet Triskelion | 2008-10-29 15:14:16

It appears the “poll” is designed for an intended result. If so, its invalid and misleading, to say the least!

Just in: The Toledo Police Department confirms that one of its records clerks has been charged with performing an unlawful search of Joe The Plumber’s records.

That makes two Ohio government employees identified in the snooping case. (Obama donor Helen Jones-Kelly, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, approved a separate search. More are being investigated.)

To all you Democrats who know that the candidacy was stolen from Hillary by Howard Dean and Donna Brazille, I say “welcome to our world”. For years, if Republicans were against larger welfare programs and for promoting personal independence, we were “racists”. If we were for less government spending on social programs, thinking that all Americans are smart enough to succeed without living on welfare their entire lives, we were “racists”. And so the base line was set when Hillary had the audacity to run against a man who was not qualified to run a lemonaide stand, much less the nation, because he was (ah-ha) black. That she wanted to take that away from him, she must also be racist. There could be no other explaination for her not dropping out to allow “The One” to take the nomination. And God knows, those 18 million people who voted for Hillary in the primaries only did so because they were (yep, you got it) “racists”.

Now we have a man who is just one stolen state away from the Oval Office who has set race relations back forty years. He has managed to pit one segment of the Democratic Party against the other unlike any other candidate in the history of the party has. But that was not good enough. Then, after he pitted blacks against whites, he went on to attack rich people (anyone who has worked their tail off to make upwards of $250K/yr included) against the people who are content to work some paltry job and sit on their stood drinking a beer and complaining that they have no money. Maybe those people should have taken advantage of the 12 years of free education provided to every American. They would have less to complain about because they would be too busy working.

I have so enjoyed this site. I have found JFK Democrats here. I have found those who know that “hopey change” is a advertising slogan, not a policy. I have found those who just a man by his character, not by the color of his skin and that character falls terribly short of what should be required of a president.

So thanks.

I’ve always known the difference between pretend conservatives and real ones like Pat B. Those of you on the right need to remember there are true liberals. True liberals and true conservatives can find a nice middle ground in the center and together we can achieve real progress.

If I were black I would be ashamed. It is the same as I am embarassed for Condaleza and Liddy Dole. I am a woman but I sure don’t like them. I am white but I hate Bush and Cheney. Two points:

I’ve chosen to keep receiving emails from the Barky campaign. I live in one of the ten states (Wisconsin) that both candidates are heavily targeting and it’s important that I keep up on the daily 0bama propaganda machine.

I have received several emails in the past few weeks encouraging me to “make history” by voting for BO.
Please, can someone explain WTF it means to vote for 0bama to make history??? What is historic other than the fact that he’s a black man?
According to Barack this election should not be about race… Hmmm.

Secondly, we’ve all heard or read the famous quote from his “Dreams” book:

“To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully,…The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists.”

EVERYONE is missing the point!
How many here realize that “sellout” in the black vernacular is absolutely synonymous with the phrase “Uncle Tom?”
This is by no means an exaggeration! Any AA will tell you so.

BO is smart to use the phrase sellout, but take the quote and use “Uncle Tom” instead.
If he had, there would be far more outrage, BUT THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT HE’S SAYING!
Barky realizes that most white folk, especially those in the media do not have a grasp of the true meaning (and vile insult) of the black code word for Uncle Tom.

This goes to the point of the MOTIVE of 0bama’s choices in surrounding himself with people who will lift up his ‘blackness.’
The motivation itself (”To avoid being mistaken for an Uncle Tom” ) is just as great a danger as his decision to surround himself with Marxists!

Obama is a man with obvious issues about being perceived as an Uncle Tom, which goes to the core of who Barack Obama is, and more importantly how he will govern.
His social programs and Marxist statements reveal him as a dangerous man promoting ‘victim’ theology. To prove the point, one only needs to look at the victims such as Michelle, Wright, Phlager, Ayers, etc… (feel free to add to the list) Barack has surrounded himself with. Ironic.. Bill Cosby is not on the list!

It’s this very dangerous theology that continues to divide not only Black Americans but also America as a whole.
This division will only worsen under a president who embraces victim-hood and will act by creating more social programs (his own brand of reparations), which will completely divide this great country thus setting race relations back to the Stone Age.

Comment by Zee | 2008-10-29 16:05:38

What the hell is a structural feminist?

And did Obama really say he sought out Marxists?

Um…why hasn’t that been in an ad?

I don’t think I’ve ever heard one liberal say that. I thought it was a code word rightwingers say…the way anti-Jew conspiracynuts say “Zionist.”

But doesn’t it seem like the timing has worked out pretty well after all? Doesn’t it seem like all this is flowing like it was choreographed and building to a crescendo?

This election was destined to be a referendum on Obama. It was good strategy to let him have his time, hang back, let voters get sick of seeing him, and then bring the wood and close him down. I think we will keep seeing new stuff right through next Monday. Face it folks, these republicans know what they are doing.

I hear ya RRR Amy. Obama’s surrogates have thrown the words racism and racist around so much that it is ceasing to have any real meaning. It is like the boy who cried wolf…use the term too much and nobody will believe you when or if there really is racism involved. I am also a sick and tired of the political correctness that whites are held to these days. You have to walk around on egg shells so as not offend certain people.

Comment by tampagurl | 2008-10-29 15:48:44

Calling people racist is a tactical move. I’m sure the obots learn this in Obama diversions 101.

Calling someone a racist keeps the person being called a racist on the defense instead of the offense.

It also serves as a distraction, notice every time the polls tighten or bad news comes out on Obama, his supporters start ratcheting up the racist accusations.

The strategy has worked well for Obama so far. Hillary actually lost the AA vote because of the racist accusation and I’m sure there are some white people that will vote for Obama to try and prove they are not racist.

To bad many Americans are so fooled by this guy and his uniter BS.

Comment by anon | 2008-10-29 16:18:43

I think it’s obvious that Obama’s candidacy has brought a lot of latent racism closer to the surface, but what amazes me is how many Americans have finally gotten past that.

I’m white. There was a time when I would have looked at Obama and the first thing I would have seen would have been a dark face. Now I only notice it as a detail, for the most part irrelevant and on its way toward becoming totally irrelevant. I feel pretty good about that.

I also heard a caller to C-Span who was concerned about ACORN having all her personal information via doing income tax work for the under-priviledged. She wondered how many were using her name and social security number now.
I had no idea they did that, but wow, what a sweet deal for those hoods!

….And finally, thank you to my friends and neighbors in the Middle East for your generous financial support of my campaign. After all somebody has to pay for my nationally televised infomercials that I plan to run during the World Series.

The World Series maybe shorter than his speech. LOL.

PLEASE SPREAD THIS!!!!

Do not watch the infomercial.

Don’t do it.

Even out of curiosity.

Why? Because the follow-up story will be on the RATINGS for the broadcast. Get a friend to tape it if you can’t help yourself, or watch it on download tomorrow.

But, whatever you do, so NOT help boost the ratings of this Barack Ross Perot moment.

I will be picking up my Netflix DVD for tonight…”The Lives of Others” about living under Communism and having your apartment (life) monitored by Comrades. Missed it in the theater. Perfect timing.

Just a nice reminder of the bullet we will have dodged when John and Sarah win next week.

If I had to watch Barry for 30 minutes, I’d get sick.

Lives of Others is outstanding!!!

Hey Obots–you should watch it too. Get a taste of life in Amerikka under the Messiah’s regime.

Also, the networks will be showing parts of it later, don’t you think? Have to duck fast not to get sandbagged into seeing any of it.

If the Red Sox were playing in the World Series and Bambi pre-empted the pre-game show I’d be really pissed. I can only imagine how pissed off baseball fans in PENNSYLVANIA and FLORIDA will be tonight.

Here’s a suggestion: You want to transcend race? Why don’t we stop talking about. Race, that is.

I heard Morgan Freeman say this once during an interview. The interviewer said how do we stop racism? And Freeman without taking a pause said, “Stop talking about it.”

I found the answer startling, but the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. Freeman went on to say: Don’t refer to me as a black actor; I’m an actor, period. Conversely, I won’t refer to you as a white newspaperman. You’re a reporter, period.

Simple, but makes amazing sense. The more race is injected into a conversation, the more it becomes an issue and a potential battle. I think the Obama folks know this, too. I suspect the whole idea was to generate “white guilt,” and a sense of entitlement. Only, they misplayed the hand [I don't feel any white guilt], and the whole thing backfired. Obamatrons have used the racism charge like a club to the point where most people tune them out and/or seethe.

Personally, I’d never been called a racist until this election season by people who don’t know me from a hole in the wall. Why? Because I said “no” to Obama, his lack of experience and accomplishment and a whole series of flipflopping stances. Anyone who lies, redefines and finagles consistently isn’t POTUS material in my book, period.

Calling me a racist didn’t sway me back. It just pissed me off.

BTW, I’ve recently noticed the “trailer trash” comments. This is not a term AA’s generally use for whites. This is white on white name-calling. Because the other tactic the Obama campaign has tried to instigate is class warfare. Trailer trash are “dolts” because they refuse to fall in line and are by implication ignorant and misguided. And rich people are to be regarded with knee-jerk revulsion.

Of course, the definition of “rich” keeps shifting all over the place. Let’s face it, in Obamaworld we’re all suppose to empty our bank accounts and put them in a common kitty. And then let the good old politicians dole it out.

Don’t think so!

BTW, glad to see you are back in fine form, Peggy Sue.

Yeah, McAnnie. A few hours sleep and some aspirin always help ;0)!

I couldn’t agree more. I was called a racist by 2 old friends and one family member (all of whom know better) simply because I was not for Barry. All of them are aware I’ve had AA friends, latino friends and that race isn’t an issue for me. As a matter of fact my personal physician is a woman who happens to be Black. They didn’t know that because I never considered it relevant. Why they felt they could attack me, remains a mystery…other than the hypnosis thing.

Since when are “black eye” and “that guy” racist?
Since BO made the scene.

Comment by IndieDogg | 2008-10-29 17:36:13

Alright, I know this is radical but I’d like to postulate a theory about why the Obama campaign is so radically sensitive to the whole “racial” notion.

I believe it might be that, in fact, Barack Obama is not black at all [I know about the percentages and all that, but I mean 0%].

And I have irrefutable evidence to back me up.

First, a point of reference, as any good scientific study needs, call it a base line.

Did anybody notice how funky down and rhythmic Governor Palin was to the rap on SNL? Okay.

Now. Did you see Obama trying to show his moves on Ellen?

I rest my case.

Comment by Peggy Sue | 2008-10-29 20:14:08

You know, when I saw Obama on the Ellen show I really laughed.

He’s the “cool” guy???

He dances like my white, over-the-hill husband. Too funny.

Now Michelle? She got it going.

See? There have been “funny” moments in this campaign.

McCain dancing???? Don’t think I want to go there.

When he spreads Rezko’s wealth around (the 100 mil for housing from state/city that was never built), and pay reparations to his brother in the hut and his poor aunt with a walker in Southie, then he can talk to me.

On second hand, no he can’t.

I still find it funny that a guy who couldn’t buy his own house without a thug (no one ever reported on the lakefront condo before that btw), who complains of just paying off school loans (who paid for the Africa, Pakistan trips?), and the struggle for Michelle to pay for ballet and music lessons (told to women who made an average of 40K, she makes 300K large), a guy who had just paid 17 parking tickets from his college days before he ran, yet he’s a genius on the economy.
