[UPDATED] Ohio Official’s $5,000 Donation to Obama Raises Questions about Investigation into Joe the Plumber

According to today’s edition of the Columbus Dispatch, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services’s checks into Joe the Plumber’s confidential records were more extensive than previously admitted: not only did they perform searches in order to determine whether or not Joe the Plumber owed child support; they also searched tax records and welfare assistance records in an attempt to uncover any information that could be used to impugn the character of Sam Wurzelbacher.
Here is the weak justification Obama supporter Helen Jones-Kelley, the Director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, provides for her department’s questionable probing into Sam Wurzelbacher’s private records:
The checks were run after the news media reported that Wurzelbacher was considering buying a plumbing business with more than $250,000 in annual income, Jones-Kelley wrote.
“Given our understanding that Mr. Wurzelbacher had publicly indicated that he had the means to purchase a substantial business enterprise, ODJFS, consistent with past departmental practice, checked confidential databases ,” she wrote.
“Not surprisingly, when a person behind in child support payments or receiving public assistance is receiving significant media attention which suggests that the person appears to have available financial resources, the Department risks justifiable criticism if it fails to take note and respond,” Jones-Kelley wrote.
The results of the searches were not publicly released and remain confidential, she wrote. Wurzelbacher has said he is not involved in a child-support case and has not purchased any business.
Her argument is anything but compelling. Does her department perform a search on anyone and everyone who announces they may have funds? Do they perform searches on everyone who intends to purchase a business? Is everyone discussed on television a subject of a search of her department?
Or is this the reason Jones-Kelley and her department performed questionable searches into Joe the Plumber’s confidential records?

$5,000 is not one of those small contributions about which we hear from the Obamamedia. No wonder why the Ohio state Senate President who is launching an investigation into the potentially illegal probes into Joe the Plumber’s private financial records issued the following respone to Jones-Kelley’s statement:
Harris [the Ohio state Senate President] called the multiple records checks “questionable” and said he awaits more answers. “It’s kind of like Big Brother is looking in your pocket,” he said.
If state employees run checks on every person listed in newspaper stories as buying a business, “it must take a lot of people a lot of time to run these checks,” he said. “Where do you draw the line?”
I guess one draws the line along the partisan divide. Or at least this is where Jones-Kelley draws the line when her department rummages through the private lives of those they see on television.
I also found this statement by Jones-Kelley somewhat laughable:

If this is the case, why did stories such as this diary and this diary surface on the Internet on 16 OCT, or just after Joe the Plumber became a topic of discussion in the media? Who leaked this information to news organizations? Who leaked this information to partisan bloggers?
According to the Dispatch, Jones-Kelley did perform a search in order to determine whether or not Joe the Plumber owed unemployment compensation taxes. What conclusion are we to make now that we know Jones-Kelley is an Obamabot who donated $5,000 to the Obama campaign? Did her office leak records regarding the taxes Wurzelbacher owed to Democratic operatives who then contacted blogs and the traditional media with information that could be used to intimidate and smear Joe the Plumber? What did her office do with this information, and why did they perform these searches?
Be afraid, be very afraid, especially if you reside in Ohio.

Unless I am mistaken, donating $5000 to someone’s presidential campaign is illegal. That is not listed as a joint account. The max is $2300 or $4600 for a married couple. How does she explain that? Those dates are all July 2008. One may have been for the GE and one a late check for the primary but she’s still over the line.

I, as a registered nurse, am not allowed to access records of someone I am not caring for (such as a celebrity who is hospitalized where I work). If I were to do so, I would be in violation of privacy laws (HIPAA) and I would be fired from my job. If I were the Republican party leaders- I would make sure that all republican electors were protected from any undue influence (blackmail, threats, bribes) from Obama campaign.
I would review the list of Republican electors too (while making sure that the civil rights -of electors are not violated) just to make sure there are no ‘hidden’ wolves in sheeps clothing (ie Obama plants) in the pool of Republican party-pledged electors.
If I were a Republican party Elector who has a possibly shady past that I was afraid that Obama campaign might find out about…I WOULD RESIGN RIGHT NOW AND ASK THE REPUBLICAN PARTY TO FIND A REPLACEMENT FOR ME ASAP.
Why do I say this? Because we are dealing with Sen Obama and David Axelrod and MANY MANY others who would-in my opinion- have no boundaries as to how low they could go to win this election.

This does sound like Obama’s campaign style. He is a brilliant, brilliant strategist.
He studied hard and discovered EVERY vulnerability in our election system and has masterfully pushed them to the limit.
Sadly, I agree. Sometimes I feel like it’s all playing out (and therefore we are being played, not a nice thought) like some giant research investigation into how many ways one person can cheat. Not being pessimistic, just thinking in an abstract research sort of way, that if I were on to a crooked plot, I’d want to find every thread of it and get them all instead of yanking blindly at the first one I found.

I read about this earlier on Drudge. I think what this woman did is a crime, pure and simple. Since she has contributed to Obama, there should be no doubt what her motivation was for doing it. She should lose her job for this.
Megyn Kelly and O’Reilly reported on her tonight and BillO said he’d send someone out to talk to her. Ted Strickland was nominally implicated in that he hasn’t removed her since finding out. This is an outrageous abuse of power and I hope she’s fired and liable in a civil suit.
It is true about people getting into your privacy. My privacy has been tampered so many times, that all the minions and surrogates will get their time in jail when this election is over because many of us will demand it. Nothing is private anymore. First, I got tired of hang up calls and silent ones on my residential. I also got tired of donation calls from the Police, Fireman, and all others. When I donated to one, hundreds of police department start calling me. I decided to change my phone number with ATT. I received my number on a Friday, not one family member had my number. On Saturday I received a call and the other person said “Hello ——(my name) this is the Police department donation fund. (Something like that). I said “How did you get my phone number when this is a private number? The caller was quiet, and then I said ” I am going to find out through ATT how the hell you got my number!” Well, I called ATT and they told me that for national security- numbers are placed in the data base of 911 for that reason. But, they were very surprise to know that the Police departments employees are using them for donation pleads. Nothing is hidden anymore! You can charge them they said to me. I am going to leave them alone- but if it was an minion like the one on this blog- I would sue them and put them in jail. Simple as that!

Exit polls from Americans in Israel give McCain something like 76% of the vote — huge cross over vote of Dems for McCain — something like 46%. Only 2% of Republicans crossed over and voted for Obama.

Apparently operatives within the Obama campaign are getting the word out to their troopers–the ones who have already done early voting however many times–to show up on election day and just cause utter chaos. They are instructed to park in the designated parking lots at polling places and leave the cars as long as possible, even forcing authorities to tow them away. And inside the polling places, just stand in line and cause massive backups, or argue about authorities about their right to vote, in the hopes of driving away enough McCain supporters. Obama supporters are being told to just wait it out, and take off all day from work if need be.
I believe Nov. 4 is going to be ugly, very ugly. I hope I’m wrong. But I’m not putting anything past these Obama thugs.

All I can say right now is that I heard it through the grapevine in a battleground state I live in. I work in an industry that is heavily pro-Obama, and they assume everyone around the area supports Obama. I have kept my mouth shut, and sometimes I’m in a position to overhear people or actually be present when operatives for the campaign are strategizing. There is definitely something up “on the ground” along these lines. But I cannot provide an actual source rght now.

You should take a look quick and figure out what November 4 will look like. This is HOW Hillary lost in the Caucus States. I live in western PA twenty miles east of Pittsburgh. The amount of McCain/Palin yard signs are staggering. It has to be ten or twelve to one Obama. In 2004 it was the other way around. If McCain wins where Clinton won he wins by 10%. She won 61 of 67 counties. I don’t think Allegheny county (Pittsburgh and surrounding county) is even 50-50 for Obama. that would prove very bad for him. Philly alone can not carry Pennsylvania!

You are right. ALL of what I was talking about happened in the Caucus States. But, I can also say that I believe it was planned for many years. The Dems chose OHitler back in 2004 and they have been WAY pissed that they think the GOP “cheated” in 2000 and 2004. I think it’s naive to believe they haven’t had some cheating planned since day one. This is a well oiled, CRIMINAL machine that has practiced back room dirty Chicago politics since day one. I have an email from Donna Brazile back to 2004 after he gave that speech that basically implies no matter what OHitler would be the nominee. At that point, I believe the DNC has been making plans to make sure they win this election at the cost of liberty, freedom, the Constitution, and everything we believe in. It’s too organized to thik otherwise and when you see people like Jennifer Brunner on the take and in the tank, then you know you will never get a fair vote in Ohio. Personally I hope this isn’t settled November 4 and goes to the Supreme Court. By then I would imagine it will be time for OHitler to face some criminal and/or eligibility charges.
