The Caged Bird Sings

Borrowed from the title of Maya Angelou’s great book. Only in this case, the bird singing is Anita Moncrief, a former ACORN employee. Oh, yes - she’s singing like a canary in this intriguing article from the Wall Street Journal the other day,
An Acorn Whistleblower Testifies in Court
, The group’s ties to Obama are extensive.

Can I just say from the outset, no freakin’ DUH??? Like we didn’t already know this! Now, there is testimony to back up what we have been screaming from the top of our lungs: ACORN and Obama ARE CONNECTED. What does it take already? According to the article:

Acorn, the liberal “community organizing” group that claims it will deploy 15,000 get-out-the-vote workers on Election Day, can’t stay out of the news.

The FBI is investigating its voter registration efforts in several states, amid allegations that almost a third of the 1.3 million cards it turned in are invalid. And yesterday, a former employee of Acorn testified in a Pennsylvania state court that the group’s quality-control efforts were “minimal or nonexistent” and largely window dressing. Anita MonCrief also says that Acorn was given lists of potential donors by several Democratic presidential campaigns, including that of Barack Obama, to troll for contributions.

Glad to hear the FBI is getting involved in this now - I sure hope it isn’t too little, too late.

But you know that Obama is going to try and WORM (What Obama Really Meant) his way out of this, or just flat out lie, what has become his standard MO:

The Obama campaign denies it “has any ties” to Acorn, but Mr. Obama’s ties are extensive. In 1992 he headed a registration effort for Project Vote, an Acorn partner at the time. He did so well that he was made a top trainer for Acorn’s Chicago conferences. In 1995, he represented Acorn in a key case upholding the constitutionality of the new Motor Voter Act — the first law passed by the Clinton administration — which created the mandated, nationwide postcard voter registration system that Acorn workers are using to flood election offices with bogus registrations.

Ms. MonCrief testified that in November 2007 Project Vote development director Karyn Gillette told her she had direct contact with the Obama campaign and had obtained their donor lists. Ms. MonCrief also testified she was given a spreadsheet to use in cultivating Obama donors who had maxed out on donations to the candidate, but who could contribute to voter registration efforts. Project Vote calls the allegation “absolutely false.”

Huh - which one are you going to believe, Ms. Moncrief, or Ms. Gillette. Now wait, before you answer that question, consider this: Secretary of State in Ohio, Jennifer Brunner, and Karyn Gillette, have a major connection to each other. Yep - sure do. Turns out, according to Brunner’s husband, Rick, they even worked out of Gillette’s office. The plot thickens:

She (Moncrief) says that when she had trouble with what appeared to be duplicate names on the list, Ms. Gillette told her she would talk with the Obama campaign and get a better version. Ms. MonCrief has given me copies of the donor lists she says were obtained from other Democratic campaigns, as well as the 2004 DNC donor lists.

How pissed off are you right now? ACORN and Obama, along with OTHER Democratic campaigns, were sharing mailing lists. Privacy? What privacy? Get this:

In her testimony, Ms. MonCrief says she was upset by Acorn’s “Muscle for Money” program, which she said intimidated businesses Acorn opposed into paying “protection” money in the form of grants. Acorn’s Brian Kettering says the group only wants to change corporate behavior: “Acorn is proud of its corporate campaigns to stop abuses of working families.”

“Muscle for Money”??? Is this for real?? Well, holy crapydoo - that sure explains a whole helluva lot about how the Obama campaign and its minions have been operating, doesn’t it??

Here is the sad tale of Ms. Moncrief and ACORN, in the interest of full disclosure:

Ms. MonCrief, 29, never expected to testify in a case brought by the state’s Republican Party seeking the local Acorn affiliate’s voter registration lists. An idealistic graduate of the University of Alabama, she joined Project Vote in 2005 because she thought it was empowering poor people. A strategic consultant for Acorn and a development associate with its Project Vote voter registration affiliate, Ms. MonCrief sat in on policy-making meetings with the national staff. She was fired early this year over personal expenses she had put on the group’s credit card.

She says she became disillusioned because she saw that Acorn was run as the personal fiefdom of Wade Rathke, who founded the group in 1970 and ran it until he stepped down to take over its international operations this summer. Mr. Rathke’s departure as head of Acorn came after revelations he’d employed his brother Dale for a decade while keeping from almost all of Acorn’s board members the fact that Dale had embezzled over $1 million from the group a decade ago. (The embezzlement was confirmed to me by an Acorn official.)

INTERNATIONAL??? Oh, dear. That is scary as all get out. Anyway, I guess Obama was inspired by Rathke to be Ruler of the Universe, commander of all he sees. And taking something that doesn’t belong to him? Well, heckfire, that seems to be Obama’s MO, too - caucuses, votes, whatever…

Then there is the vindictiveness Obama has demonstrated time and time again:

“Anyone who questioned what was going on was viewed as the enemy,” Ms. MonCrief told me. “Just like the mob, no one leaves Acorn happily.” She believes the organization does some good but hopes its current leadership is replaced. She may not be alone.

Just like the mob.

And here is some information I think Joe the Plumber could certainly use given what the Obama camp and its minions in Ohio have done to him:

Last August two of Acorn’s eight dissident board members, Marcel Reed and Karen Inman, filed suit demanding access to financial records of Citizens Consulting Inc., the umbrella group through which most of Acorn’s money flows. Ms. Inman told a news conference this month Mr. Rathke still exercises power over CCI and Acorn against the board’s wishes. Bertha Lewis, the interim head of Acorn, told me Mr. Rathke has no ties to Acorn and that the dissident board members were “obsessed” and “confused.”

According to public records, the IRS filed three tax liens totaling almost $1 million against Acorn this spring. Also this spring, CCI was paid $832,000 by the Obama campaign for get-out-the-vote efforts in key primary states. In filings with the Federal Election Commission, the Obama campaign listed the payments as “staging, sound, lighting,” only correcting the filings after the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review revealed their true nature.

“Acorn needs a full forensic audit,” Ms. MonCrief says, though she doesn’t think that’s likely. “Everyone wants to paper things over until later,” she says. “But it may be too late to reform Acorn then.” She strongly supports Barack Obama and hopes his allies can be helpful in cleaning up the group “after the heat of the election is gone.”

Let’s see - a private citizen has his fairly insignificant lien posted all over the airwaves, but ACORN’s $1 million lien?? Um, not so much.

Naturally, this is all a blatant attempt by right-wing loonies to cast aspersions on this fine organization right before an election:

Acorn’s Mr. Kettering says the GOP lawsuit “is designed to suppress legitimate voters,” and he says Ms. MonCrief isn’t credible, given that she was fired for cause. Ms. MonCrief admits that she left after she began paying back some $3,000 in personal expenses she charged on an Acorn credit card. “I was very sorry, and I was paying it back,” she says, but “suddenly Acorn decided that . . . I had to go. Since then I have gotten warnings to ‘back off’ from people at Acorn.”

Acorn insists it operates with strict quality controls, turning in, as required by law, all registration forms “even if the name on them was Donald Duck,” as Wade Rathke told me two years ago. Acorn whistleblowers tell a different story.

Oh, you knew it was coming - this is ALL about voter suppression, not voter fraud! Racists!!! Ahem.

Oh, but it isn’t just Ms. Moncrief who feels compelled to finally tell the truth:

“There’s no quality control on purpose, no checks and balances,” says Nate Toler, who worked until 2006 as the head organizer of an Acorn campaign against Wal-Mart in California. And Ms. MonCrief says it is longstanding practice to blame bogus registrations on lower-level employees who then often face criminal charges, a practice she says Acorn internally calls “throwing folks under the bus.”

Gregory Hall, a former Acorn employee, says he was told on his very first day in 2006 to engage in deceptive fund-raising tactics. Mr. Hall has founded a group called Speaking Truth to Power to push for a full airing of Acorn’s problems “so the group can heal itself from within.”

Well, I’ll be damned. Seems that ACORN has a bit of a history in shenanigans. What I particularly love is how they Higher-Ups blame EVERYTHING on the underlings. Just what we can look forward to with an Obama presidency, I predict!

Oh, and do I even have to add this? You coulda guessed it:

To date, Mr. Obama has declined to criticize Acorn, telling reporters this month he is happy with his own get-out-the-vote efforts and that “we don’t need Acorn’s help.” That may be true. But there is no denying his ties with Acorn helped turbocharge his political career.

Seriously? You aren’t counting on all of those fraudulent votes for you in OH, CA, IN, TX, FL, NC, and the list goes on, at LEAST 15 states (16, if you include SC, which is already investigating ACORN)? Yeah, okay. Well, you may claim you don’t need ACORN, and ACORN may claim it is “non-partisan,” but judging from the video below, I think you are both lying - again:

Hopefully, more whistle blowers will come forward. Probably not in time to save this election from ACORN’s influence, but at the very least, to save more of our taxpaying dollars from going to these bozos in the future. Our vote is precious, and not to be trifled with by those who seek to distort it. We must stand up to these kinds of influences, and we sure as hell should not be paying for it.

And one more time, because of all of the documented fraudulent activities of ACORN, if you see something suspicious at your polling place, you can call: 866-976-VOTE to report it.

Obama spent nearly $700,000 for stage, lights in Berlin

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama paid a German company nearly $700,000 for staging, sound and lighting services at the time he delivered a speech this past summer in Berlin and declared himself a “citizen” of both the U.S. and the world.

Comment by Paul F. Villarreal | 2008-11-01 19:45:25

Yes, indeed. We have another whistleblower who came forward with the information that Obama’s Aunti Zeituni is presently in defiance of a deportation order. She also unlawfully donated to Barack Obama’s presidential campaign, and did so repeatedly.

Here is Rush Limbaugh considering the hypocrisy of Obama as regards Obama’s words from Dreams from My Father as compared with his lack of deeds to help out his illegal alien aunt living in Boston:

He already did. He has to send back the 250.00 she donated to him. She should receive it in about 6-8 weeks and have enough to buy a couple days groceries and maybe a bus pass. Such a generous nephew!
I wonder if he has to add interest onto the refund?

Comment by oowawa | 2008-11-01 20:52:27

Of course she’s proud of her nephew–so proud that she scrapes together her change until she accumulates what must be a huge sum to her–$250, to help him. I’m sure she was beaming with pride when she sent that fortune. It’s unutterably sad.

Voter fraud is being reported in a lot of places. Absentee ballots have been returned even though they haven’t even been mailed out because they were set aside. ACORN is deeply involved in all these tactics. Everything and anything to supress the vote just as they did with Hillary.

AP just released a poll on trying to paint McCain supporters as being domeralised and more likely to stay home. Expect this kind of BS to intensify in the coming days. The only way Obama wins is if McCain supporters stay home and they know this.

GO VOTE! If you vote, McCain wins.

Actually Andrew your freakouts make me laugh, even if we’re on the same side.

Look, if O wins, his credibility has taken major hits lately, and people are onto him, people will demand Congress stay on him. And we have NoQuarter and many other new friends on the net.

And if McCain wins, well, wooohoo! What’s odd is how different all the polls are, and how little the media is acknowledging this.

I have no more nails to bite. If I bit anymore, I’d need to go to the hospital. I’m having some bad luck this. Not only am I still sick, but a piece of tooth composite chipped of my tooth (I ground by front teeth and had to have the indentations filled in.) On Wednesday by retainer cracked while playing volleyball. My screwed up bot brother just called and said he voted O and that he allowed his wife to stop working again (really messed up). So if I sound a bit touchy, I am. Sorry.

Andrew: hot bath, hot milk, cookies. Do something nice for yourself. You can’t live your brothers life for him, he gets to screw up just as much as we do. This really is going to work out. Even if Obinokinobe wins, we are going to hound him to his impeachment. He has everything to worry about and we just have to stay centered. It’s okay to get a bit nervous, but then reel yourself back in. It’s too damn painful otherwise. Why give the Obamabots that kind of satisfaction? Screw them Andrew and take your power back. That’s my humble opinion.

You need to come up with a better way of handling stress. Sometimes things don’t go the way you want them to.

If McCain wins, awesome. If Obama wins, we just need a backup plan to do our best to ensure he has checks and opposition from all directions. I think that is starting to form right now.

Also what is this about your brother allowing his wife to stop working? Not up to date on this soap opera.

Federal agents to monitor polls
by The Republican Newsroom Saturday November 01, 2008, 6:51 AM

SPRINGFIELD - The Department of Justice will post observers at city polls on Tuesday as part of a nationwide effort to ensure voter rights and prevent fraud, according to federal officials.

City officials on Friday were unfazed, saying that elections in Springfield have been monitored for the past two years.

“They’ve been around a couple of years; we’re used to them,” said Election Commission Secretary Kathleen Hoar Fleury.

City Solicitor Edward M. Pikula said the monitors are part of a 2006 settlement between the city and the government after a dispute about the number of bilingual poll workers…….. A Justice Department spokesman declined to discuss what the monitors will be observing at Springfield polling stations.

To do so would “compromise the observers’ effectiveness,” said Scot Montrey of the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division.

Observers will also be in Boston on election day.

In all the Justice Department intends to have 800 observers in 59 jurisdictions in 23 states, according to a department statement.

Since passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the Justice Department has regularly sent observers and monitors around the county to look for voting rights violations.

Election officials across the county are anticipating a record turnout on Tuesday.

The Department of Justice has also set up a toll-free number dedicated for filing complaints or reporting irregularities.

The number is (800) 253-3931.

Comment by Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy | 2008-11-01 19:10:16

Thanks for this Tuppence. The thing is, they will send them from the Civil Rights Division, but NOT the Criminal Rights Division. There’s a big difference. Rather than sending them from both, they will only do the former.

I can’t believe the voter fraud stuff isn’t getting more press. This was planned years ago. Many years ago. We documented the Caucus Fraud in our film and I am still AMAZED at how ORGANIZED the cheating was. There’s no way OHitler wins ANYTHING without cheating. Just ask Alice Palmer and Hillary Rodham Clinton. He’s scum. And he’s going to try to steal this election any way he can. I think it’s time for people to have serious INTERVENTIONS with their loved ones. It’s just plain DOPEY to vote for OHitler.

Comment by McKatmoon | 2008-11-01 18:55:01

Not to worry, the fool won’t win. McPalin ticket all the way. Many people are not saying a word, they are sick of being harassed, families aren’t speaking, people have lost friendships, much division thanks to O. The rest who survived the dem primaries have just been biding their time, and they will vote, and vote and vote, that vote will be for Mcain/Palin.
Voter fraud is something people seem to not believe unless it happens to them, there is the excuse it’s just a right wing tactic, but you know the story would be ever so much different if this situation was party reversed. True enough.

McCain/Palin PUMA forever

Excellent post! I personally believe ACORN should be totally dismantled and the sooner the better. Why should our taxpayer dollars be thrown away on a organization that is totally biased toward one candidate and corrupt to boot? This is an outrage! Virtually any community organization does some good, but to allow fraud to continue to be perpetuated under the auspices of an occasional good deed is sheer lunancy. Let Washington know we are sick and tired of ACORN and we want them out of business!

Comment by TJ | 2008-11-01 19:32:21

I personally think all the ACORN apps should be thrown out and all the money given backto the goverment. If someone was legally signed up for them then they can register at the polls. All they need it proof of residence and a valid ID!

Comment by Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy | 2008-11-01 20:07:07

Comment by Tuppence411 | 2008-11-01 19:00:05

I see Acorn as just another example of Barky taking advantage and scamming. For decades our goverment systems and people of goodwill all over this country have been focused on ensuring voter rights, we are not geared to combat voter fraud on such a massive scale.

Does anyone have any good stats on how many registered Dems are projected to cross party lines and vote for McCain?

Comment by Shiloh | 2008-11-01 19:07:43

That is little more than a matter of opinion. Those that are aren’t talking about it. That’s one of the main reasons the polls are, IMO, so far off. Their assumption of crossover is based on past elections. By the percent they are wrong, votes assumed to be going to Obama will go to McCain. I guess we’ll see. We get the government we deserve.

Shiloh - I had this very discussion tonight with someone else. I don’t think its fair to Sen. McCain. The media has refused to cover McCain in any kind of positive light. No matter what McCain did or didn’t do the MSM, which influences so many millions of people, was going to cover him in a light best for Obama. Without the media you get what we have - half a campaign or less. When you look at it from that point I think McCain hasn’t done so badly.

Comment by Shiloh | 2008-11-01 20:24:57

Even the msm cannot fail to cover allegations leveled directly by one candidate against another. McCain’s insistence on being gentlemanly enables to msm to ignore so much and not vet Obama. Note I am not saying it is the wrong strategy, I hope it proves right. But if McCain doesn’t win, that’s where I put the blame.

but in Kenya…

“They’re making sacrificial offerings to help ensure his victory in a nation where the Illinois senator is considered a native son…

Customarily, those seeking large blessings sacrifice a goat by swinging it by its legs so that its head and neck are bludgeoned against a large rock in a naturally occurring enclosure between two massive boulders that serves as the shrine’s sanctuary. The goat’s demise incurs the blessings of the rock shrine’s god, said Caroline Odhiambo, a 24-year-old who tends to the shrine.”

I wouldn’t be surprised if ACORN didn’t have an in with Jesus and got those dead people up and voting in Florida. A poster over at Uppity’s recently spoke about ACORN getting $400 dollars on every mortgage paid in this country and that this was something imbedded in the Freddie Fannie bailout. I haven’t found a link to that story but the point is how come we aren’t hearing about pork going to places like this before its a done deal??? It is actually .04% on the amount of the mortgage from now until eternity……So, $500,000 would pay a $2,000 amount to agencies such as ACORN. Lovely!

the personal fiefdom of Wade Rathke, who founded the group in 1970 and ran it until he stepped down to take over its international operations this summer.

How interesting. Obama has all these internet donations, some thought to be from overseas. LJ uncovers the 190 entities of ACORN and so many of them were overseas. Am I the only one who is not clear on what ACORN does overseas? Do they work to register voters or is it real estate?

And why do taxes go to an outfit like this?

Fascinating. Thanks, RRRA.

Here’s a link to an early Gallup survey trying to figure out how many Hill supporters would vote for McCain if she were not the nominee…at that time, a whopping 28% of those surveyed said they would vote for McCain. Gallup goes on to say that of course, the Obama campaign would be “reaching out” to those Hill supporters in the name of party unity (HA!)…

I personally think that of those 28%…not many have been wooed back into the Dem fold…in fact, there may be MORE of us than before, due to the despicable behavior of the obamabots and obama himself.

I’ll tell you what (as we say down here in GA), this is going to be one he** of a Tuesday!!!

They are sending them to VA and PA.

It means NC is out of reach for them and he is losing PA and VA.

Comment by Tj | 2008-11-01 19:58:46

Typical cat fight. Many of us remember how vicious girls could be in high school if you were not in the in crowd, or made someone powerful mad. Us women can be doen right vicious when we don’t like someone.
The problem is we are more powerful together then fighting against one another.

Liberals are terrified of her because she is smart, intelligent, loves life, loves her children, is pro life, pro gun, and loves God. She is what is REAL about this country, WE need Sarah Palin. I don’t think in my entire life I have ever admired someone as much as I admire Sarah. I hope to one day meet her myself to tell her that in person. To go through what she has gone through and still fight for what is right tells you something about her character. The only idiots who trash her are JEALOUS of her success and the fact that she has such a loving and supporting family around her who give her all the love she needs. Thank U Chuck and Sally Heath for giving us Sarah, She is THE BEST

Vice presidential Candidate Wiley S. Drake Sr. to file in court asking to
de-certify Barack Obama because he has refused to release proof of being a Natural Born Citizen, thereby disqualifying Obama in his bid for the Office of President.

The recent Lawsuit in Washington State demanding their Secretary of State to vet the citizenship credentials of Barack Obama has spawned a slew of similar suits with new lawsuits filed and/or prepared in WA, FL, NC, CO, CA, OH, FL, CT, GA, TX, MI. Related lawsuits HI, US District.

As part of this effort, this group of citizens from states across the union made an outreach to the whole presidential slate asking each candidate for president and vice president to offer up a certified copy of their birth certificates and any related candidate declarations to be placed in a library made available to the public via a non-partisan web site.

At least one VP candidate Wiley S. Drake Sr. went the next step and agreed to file a lawsuit of his own to demand the disqualification of Barack Obama unless he can prove status as a ”Natural Born Citizen” as the constitution and federal statues demand and define.

In another unrelated action, though also aimed at forcing Obama to release proof or step down, 24 potential Electoral College electors are filing action Monday morning in court also demanding proof. A call is herein being issued to any elector in any state, especially democrat electors who would like to join that effort. Electors interested in adding their name to this lawsuit can contact Mr. Marquis who will put you in contact with the attorney handling that case.

This won’t post, so am re-writing the link: Politico reporting their poll shows only 65% of AAs are voting for obama in Missouri…this is astounding and may hint that the much touted figure of 95% of AA voting obama is a lie! This is simply ASTOUNDING…

And I can see why…just like us McCain supporters who won’t put bumper stickers on our cars or yard signs up for fear of reprisal…I can’t imagine many AAs being open about their support of John McCain!

From your post, it seems some people are going out of their way and do anything and evrything to the

By the way, I love how you write.

Thanks so much, Andy! I appreciate it!

And the Civil Rights Division of the DOJ is going to be involved to make sure there is no voter suppression. But, there will not be observers from the Criminal Division because - get this - they are afraid it will cause voter suppression. I kid you not. As if these attorneys standing around are going to have big ol’ DOJ CRIMINIAL DIVISION sweatshirts on or something. Sheesh. So, yeah the charges for fraud? Not so much.

Thanks again, Andy, and thanks for your great comments!

OMG RRRA, that’s such a stupid excuse…Unbelievable. They could very well dress up casual and just sit at a table; noone would know they are even there…How is that going to scare people off? Ridiculous.
The Carter foundation does this in third world countries but here? Nope, here anything goes as long as it benefits Obama.
In Colorado all those dubious registrations will be allowed to go ahead and vote and they presumable will check afterwards. Puh-lease…They won’t check anything. They are never going to overturn votes that went for BO; that would be
“racist”…
This election everyone will vote: citizen, no citizen, legal, illegal whatever. I bet you even Obama’s “aunt” will go to vote. Who will check?
It is absurd. What a travesty. Everyone is beding backwards to accomodate BO; it makes no sense to me, none at all.

I don’t understand why this hasn’t been a huge story. When I heard the story the day it broke, tying the Obama campaign directly to ACORN DURING this election–and after the Obama campaign denied any relationship–I thought it would be explosive.

As usual with Obama, nothing happened. This guy could murder someone in broad daylight, and the apologists would explain it away.

I know this is off topic but I hope there is a special place in hell for MSNBC. Some Canadian radio station played a horrible prank on Sarah Palin, calling her and pretending to be the French President, talked to her for about 7 minutes before either she realized it or they told her that this was a prank phone call. I don’t watch BSNBC but they apparently played the tape and laughed their butts off about it. I just hope that if God is watching this, that Sarah’s sweet revenge will be for her to win and have a HUGE press conference telling those bastards that they can kiss her ass and and will now have to refer to her as VICE PRESIDENT PALIN

Comment by Typewriterstreaming | 2008-11-01 20:22:52

Oh I know, MSNBC died a long time ago, just sucks that she even had to be punked like that. I would have probably fallen for it too. Someone needs to check under the postal delivery guys bed where all those absentee ballots never arrived. They are probably already been sent in, thinking the people wouldn’t notice in time but some went down to vote and check on it, and would be interesting to see if it had been recorded a vote already. that would raise some eyebrows. HMMMMMMMMMm……BUT WHAT DO WE DO ABOUT IT, CALL THE ELECTION VOID, RE-ISSUE FULL PROOF VOTING BALLOTS TO EVERYONE, AND CODE IN SOMEWAY THEY CANNOT BE DUPLICAATED AND EVERYONE REVOTE 1 TIME.????

I have already voted, but worry that it doesn’t matter as “the One” already has the fix in and has ordered the LITTLE FISHIES and champayne a bit early as proof he is confident OF WINNING.

One of the most despicable aspects of the media Bobo lovefest has been the way they have made up these nasty little tales of certain and impending loss and tried to make it sound like a foregone conclusion. They discussed whether Hillary could be majority leader or NY gov and whether Palin would jettison any association with Mac and plan to run herself in ‘12. I used to respect Wolf Blitzer, but now I despise him. And the depth of my hatred for Ogreman and Jack the curmudgeon can’t be described. These people have tried to trample the First Amendment as heartily as Ayers has the flag, all for the sake of an amoral, lying, narcissistic poseur!
