OPEN THREAD: Democratic Women Respond to Obama’s Latest Sexist Gambit [VIDEO UPDATES x2]

Obama’s unrestrained misogyny rears its ugly head in this unabashedly sexist advertisement:

Mary Wollstonecraft comes to mind unbidden. I quote:

Women are systematically degraded by receiving the trivial attentions which men think it manly to pay to the sex, when, in fact, men are insultingly supporting their own superiority.

Please offer your analysis of this advertisement in the comments thread.

Here are the responses of Democratic women and feminist activists:

Shelly Mandell, President of Los Angeles chapter of the National Organization for Women: “I am outraged by the new ad put out by Barack Obama. It is sexist and demeaning to women. These tactics started with Hillary Clinton and continue, growing even more disgusting with Gov. Palin. I was a Hillstar for Hillary and an avid supporter. Trashing two women clearly in a sexist manner in one election is an outrage and must be identified and stopped. There must be consequences. Let female Obama supporters take a good look at this and still believe their candidate supports women’s rights and women’s dignity.”

Prameela Bartholomeusz, DNC Platform Committee Member: “I am once again stunned at the personal and sexist attacks by the Obama campaign against Gov. Palin. This latest ad is sexist and offensive. The Gov. of Alaska has been managing and balancing a budget of $10 billion; I think she knows a bit about economics. Sen. Obama never spoke up against sexism during the primary season, and is not speaking out against misogyny during this phase of the election season — he is contributing to it. I have no confidence that Sen. Obama will fight for women’s issues if elected. This sets women back decades.”

Stephanie Bressler, Ph.D, Hillary Clinton supporter, University of Scranton women and politics professor: “It’s a sexist example of reducing a woman to an object – a wink – and denying her a voice. Her lips are actually moving, but she’s not allowed to be heard.”

Mary Calderon, Tampa, former Senator Clinton supporter: “I’m disappointed that Senator Obama has resorted to personal attacks at this point in the campaign. Would any male candidate for vice president of the United States be afforded similar treatment by the Obama campaign? I would say not.”

Amy Siskind, Ambassador for Hillary: “When Senator Hillary Clinton was demeaned and degraded during the Presidential Primary, many of us of, myself included, vowed ‘never again’. The treatment of Governor Palin by both the main stream media, and now the Obama Campaign, shows that the misogyny fest is alive and well in our country. There has been a complete and utter smear job of our fellow citizen, Sarah Palin, who is only trying to serve her country.”

[UPDATE x2]: Here is Amy Siskind on Fox News responding to Obama’s sexist advertisement. Siskind is cofounder of The New Agenda, a new nonpartisan group for women’s rights.

Truthteller, I’m sending you a post I just read on Gretawire from a Michigan police officer who describes the contempt shown uniformed officers by Obama. Can you, Larry, Susan or someone from NQ check this out? This is unreal. What next??? Here’s the post:

Michigan Police Officer’s Take on Obama
The most interesting things arrive with the morning mail.

To all,
I have read all of the emails from not only some of the [Michigan Tactical Officer's Association] board members, but from other Law Enforcement & Military personnel about Barack Obama’s rudeness and what seems to be disgust for basically anyone in uniform. Well, it’s my turn to add to the list of emailers and here it is:
So members of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan State Police, (me included) and other local agencies inside Calhoun County are working with Secret Service in the security of Mr. Obama. Mr. Obama’s bus arrives in Battle Creek and pulls into the stadium area. Before Mr. Obama exits the bus, he has the Secret Service get off and tell all Law Enforcement personnel in uniform that they now have to stand behind the bus so Mr. Obama is not seen with anyone in a Law Enforcement uniform before he gets off or while in the public view. So, everyone from Michigan State Police, Sheriff’s Deptments and other agencies look at each other for a brief second, go and stand behind the bus out of sight so Mr. Obama does not have to see, or been seen with, what to him is ‘undesirables’ since he refuses to been seen or even acknowledge Military or Law Enforcement personnel in uniform. And he wants to be our commander-in-chief!
At a time of war and terrorism in our world, this presidental candidate who is being protected by various branches of the military & law enforcement at the tax payers expense, refuses to acknowledge, be seen with, have in his photographed background, any type of Military or Law Enforcement in uniform.
But this is not in the headlines or in the news or on TV. The TV news doesn’t show us marching around behind the bus. In the future, look and see if you can see a single soldier or police officer in uniform when you see Obama. Why? I wonder what the story or media frenzy would be if it was Muslims, blacks, whites, Jews, or any other race, gender, religon, and/or occupation, that Mr. Obama refused to be seen with or have around him.
Why would I make this up? Everyone in Law Enforcement knows we have traditionally had more funding under Democrats.
Just food for thought leading up to November 4th.

Absolutely right!

I am still dumbfounded by the misogyny of the BO primary campaign, and can’t quite fathom the attacks on Palin.

The dems used to be the party for women, only nuts-women haters like Phyllis Schlafley hung out with repubs.

BO has turned half a century of progressive gender politics around. I suspect he has been doing the same for AA, hispanic, and other racialized politics.

PUMA!!

CNN played part of Palin’s speech, including the heavy applause. When they cut away, Wolf Blitzer said “…and not very far away, Barack Obama addressed a HUGE crowd….”

CNN’s cheerleading for Obama has gone beyond appalling- all they care about is crowd sizes and who screams the loudest- and that Obama ends up winning.

I would like to see that ad run everywhere because Obama would bleed voters by the gallon. Unfortunately, many would not get exactly what Obama and his cohorts intended with the ad. Obama is running a campaign on hate, sexism and ageism. He is the most vile politician I have ever seen. I can honestly say that I have even less respect for Obama than I do for Bush. For all the derision, and rightfully so, of Bush he never declared war on women or blue collar whites. I also don’t remember him lying through his teeth to get elected. The lying started after he took office. If Obama were elected what do we have to look forward to?

That ad basically smacks women as incapable of knowing economics. Oh wait, I take that back…They believe women are better at home economics.

Right.

Now, as I recall – Alaska is running a budget surplus and has a state savings account.

Palin is doing a hell of a lot better than the moral and mental giants in D.C.

Comment by Annie McOakley | 2008-11-02 20:13:01

I just voted for McCain and Sarah Palin. Yes, I think she’s an asset to McCain’s economic plan because she stands for increasing energy supplies for the economy, using natural gas to transition to address global warming and transition to a green energy/jobs economy. She also recognizes that corruption saps the strength of our economy. barky stands for…er, um, whatever, and corruption has never been a priority for him.

McCain is a wise enough man to recognized that understanding the economy was an area he needed to improve on (2005) and I bet he did. He certainly has a lot of economists endorsing him. Too bad Obama’s banking buddies couldn’t lay off the phony paper assets that now the tax payers are stuck paying for. And as for my former party, the Dems, if at any time any of them had stood up to stop Greenspan and the bankers liquidity bubble, we wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in now. But they all went along pretending that they knew what they were talking about. After all, they all had penises, no?

I have “had” it and am starting a new effort — for now, I am calling it

“Stop Humiliation And Disparagement Of Women”

The short version is “SHADOW”

I don’t care how others may feel about Hillary Clinton or Sarah Palin, this campaign season has turned my stomach and saddened my soul. Seemingly “nice” people have mocked both Clinton and Palin in the most disgusting and evidence-free ways — and for reasons unrelated to their effectiveness as public officials.

As Craig Crawford noted earlier in the campaign season, with regard to both President Clinton and Senator Clinton, “I really think the evidence-free bias against the Clintons in the media borders on mental illness.”

Crawford was right then, and his words apply even now to Senator Hillary Clinton and Gov. Sarah Palin.

Both of these women hold high and important political offices, yet they are treated daily to degrading and humiliating slurs and insults related to the fact they are women.

Just very recently, some man in West Hollywood got his jollies from hanging an effigy of Sarah Palin by a noose. Many people (both men and women) thought it was amusing and, so, the effigy remained in place for a week until the West Hollywood mayor persuaded the man to take it down.

On the other hand, an effigy of Barack Obama hung by a noose resulted in the arrest of the two young men who had put it up.

It was correct to arrest the men who put up the Obama effigy, but WHY was the hanging Sarah Palin considered humorous?

As a woman, I will tell you I was NOT amused — I was horrified and enraged.

As the Nazis learned and honed to perfection: first you humiliate some group, then you blame them for society’s woes, and then you can do anything you please to them — even beat or kill them — and no one will come to their aid.

Well, other disparaged groups have fought back and I am bewildered that no women (or very few women) have fought back against the organized and free-lance disparagement of Senator Clinton and Gov. Palin.

Well, every movement starts with a first step, and this will be my first step to

“Stop Humiliation And Disparagement Of Women”

“SHADOW” now . . . and “SHADOW” forever!

Comment by McKatmoon | 2008-11-02 20:25:02

I agree, and simply cannot take another comment or second of this sick sick need to continually attempt to crush women, by all and any means. I mean what is the next step after the constant verbal attacks? We all know what it is. I wonder how many of these drooling idiots would gleefully slobber their hatred against females, when facing a female soldier? To have such a fear of half of the human species defies any logic. I have no tolerance left, and more than likely no forgiveness either. I am learning the lesson again and again, that no matter how far we go, what we do that is right, somewhere somehow and even out of the mouth’s of other women, we are never quite good enough, never quite ready, and can be considered less than, so it’s much easier to dismiss us, harm us, get rid of us. IT’s been constant this hatred for months. All the damned media and the o crazies need to lay the hell off.

Stop Humiliation And Disparagement Of Women

Lightacandle, you’re off to a great start: your acronym SHADOW is terrific. Did you consider “degradation” instead of “disparagement” (might be a tad stronger)? Either way, it’s great. Good luck with your endeavor. The treatment of Hillary & Sarah shows it’s really needed.

Comment by lightacandle | 2008-11-02 21:26:35

Thanks. I had originally used “degradation” but then changed it. I will probably give it a second look, with fresh eyes, in a day or two.

What I am planning to do is end every e-mail with this signature:

“SHADOW” now . . . and “SHADOW” forever!

I hope to be able to start something that will at least cause conversation and, eventually, cause a change in people’s ways of thinking and talking about women.

Men are absolutely encouraged to join in this effort. After all, I am sure they don’t want their mothers, wives, daughters, sisters, aunts, grandmothers and granddaughters to be treated disrespectfully either.

Comment by oowawa | 2008-11-02 21:58:34

Speaking as an old grandpa, this election has really opened my eyes to sexism. The disgusting behavior of Herr Olbermann & Chris Matthews alone was enough to wake me up. Obama seems to be genuinely clueless on this issue. The new ad in question is jaw-droppingly out-of-touch and insensitive. Go SHADOW!

One other thing, what the hell deal has O ever negotiated in his entire life? Oh, I forgot, his book deal…

Thank you.

As a long time business person, I have always put forth women at every opportunity -equal pay, training, executive positions and flexible work hours- basically whatever is needed to bring out the best in the individual, male or female. The discourse this election season has put fire back in my old bones, and as they say, “I’m mad as hell and not going to take it anymore.” Women cannot let an arrogant narcissistic misogynist be the leader of the greatest country on earth.

And then we have those other women – the ones who not only don’t stand up for their own gender, but who belittle and diminish us all. Check out this DISGUSTING, VICIOUS bucket of spit by Robin Morgan – Women’s Media Center.

She attacks PUMAs and Sarah Palin supporters (calls us “spalinists”), and basically says Sarah Palin is stupid. So, get ready to throw the furniture – especially after you read the last paragraph!

Moose, Mousse, and Spalinism by Robin Morgan

Here, Robin Morgan takes aim at a few “feminists” who have taken to the blogways lately to support John McCain and Sarah Palin. Their reasoning is flawed, says Morgan, to say the least.

You might have noticed a recent media burp—gassy, though blissfully short—about a handful of faux “feminists” backing the John McCain-Sarah Palin ticket. I won’t name these women out of concern that feeding their misplaced sense of self-importance may risk them bursting into shriveled balloon ribbons of overextended ego. If you’re addicted to surreal humor you can find such SP supporters (I call them Spalinists) via Google—if you lack an excuse to put off, say, cleaning the garbage pail, and if you can manage it without bladder-challenging fits of hilarity at the cognitive dissonance invoked by juxtaposing words like “feminism” and “Palin.”

But if any actual feminists are concerned about the effect on Women’s Movement institutions and energy of this clutch of “formers” (a former chapter official of a national feminist organization, a former editor of a feminist publication, former Democratic funders, former Hillary supporters, and so forth), let me reassure you. The “trust date” had already long expired on these women, who’d been voted off feminist leadership posts, or fired, or quietly asked to resign. Some are confessed consultants to the campaign whose candidates they now—surprise!—endorse. I never imagined I’d see a “feminist” mercenary. But then I never heard of rats climbing onto a sinking ship, either.

Spalinists traipse around with their candidate, grinning and applauding her, sometimes getting paraded out to take a bow at a rally. They sound off about how she’s the target of sexism. (She is. D’uh. But being a victim of misogyny does not necessarily a feminist make—or we’d never have had Liddy Dole. Or Britney Spears.)

Spalinists claim they support the GOP ticket (while conveniently ignoring McCain) because: A) Palin is secretly brilliant, B) she is a feminist who only differs with the Women’s Movement in opposing abortion; C) us “elitist” Women’s Movement types who supported HRC but disavow SP are “anti-working-class women,” and—here it comes—D) Spalinists want to “teach the Democratic Party not to take women for granted.”

Oh, as Joe the senator says, lord love ya.

A) Anyone who hazards arguing that Palin is brilliant is herselfmorethana few watts short of a bulb. Palin is calculating (you betcha’!), or McCain wouldn’t be hemorrhaging from her stab-him-when-he’s-down wounds as she hypes her 2012 campaign before his is formally pronounced dead. But any real intelligence remotely attached to Palin gleams in Tina Fey’s eye.

B) If you still need a list of all the feminist agenda items (in addition to abortion rights) supported by the vast majority of U.S. women—but opposed by Palin—see When Sisterhood Is Suicide, or check Palin’s positions vs. the to-do list on any honestly feminist website: Feminist.com, Feministing.com, NOW.org, Feminist.org, Vday.org, EqualityNow.

C) Don’t you love it when wealthy nouveau-Republican women (confusing moose with mousse?) know best what working-class women need and want—better than working-class women who are actually feminist activists? Oh please.
D) If Spalinist women wanted to waste our hard-won suffrage, and truly cared about punishing the Dems for not taking women seriously enough, why didn’t they endorse the Green Party ticket: two women, both people of color (Cynthia McKinney and Rosa Clemente), whose candidacies, though symbolic, at least share a pro-feminist platform? (See “The Other Nominees,” by Nida Khan, on the Women’s Media Center site.) If you claim you want to drive a party toward feminism, strategically you’d pressure from the left, not the right. But “teaching the Democratic leadership a lesson” brings us to the heart of it: Since when do feminists sacrifice women’s basic survival needs in order to impress men?

Still, here’s the good news. Their 15 minutes of infamy now over, even Spalinists must know they’ve blown whatever wobbly “former” creds they might’ve once had in the Women’s Movement. Their only hope lies in becoming guests on some future tacky talk show hosted by Palin—on Fox News, no doubt.

Personally i think this is too little too late on the behalf of “democratic” women where were they when the most outrages attacks being launched at palin and Hillary Clinton. Hmmm…Let me see…they were agreeing with them. This two days before the election fake out rage on behalf of the media and the dems is phony. hell even the media is trying to let on that they don’t know anything about obama. Really? I thought it was racist if you said that. if obama wins and turns out to be disaster this is there, band wagon back up plan. For the ones who are clinton supporters and have spoken out i’m sorry, but the rest of them are just a bunch of posers. I don’t have time for that. And neither should palin or clinton. No self repsecting woman should stand idolly by while a person degrades other women or other minority groups. As a black female i don’t tolerated isms of any kind cause i know how painful being devalued because of something you can’t control feels. ever since the clinton memo i have been anti obama, because i abhore discrimation of any kind. hell i even find the ageist mccain’s acting erradic insulting since i have 85 year old grandmother who has a sharp mind, ohh and let’s not forget the depends joke, my 80 year old grandfather died in 2000 with colon cancer with bone mets and never once was incontient. If obama looses or win there is one thing i hope we never do. Let these morons get away with having said nothing. Everyone one should be held accountable. If we don’t they will do it again.

One of the biggest problems in this country is that we don’t believe in accounability. The leaders of the democratic party set back and allowed Barak Obama into a high level position without vetting him, they kept their mouth shut when he falsely accused the clintons of racism, and when MSM and obama supporters engaged in sexist attacks on hillary and sarah palin. They screamed headlines about campaign rally’s being hateful and hearing people say kill him, when it was not true but yet said nothing when obama had on his own website people with tshirts calling sarah palin an extremely derogatory term and with 150 million dollars people you can pay someone to monitor your web site and remove such material. I don’t care what they say on November 2nd, they will and must be delt with.

The more I see these kinds of things coming from Nobama, the more I am convinced he really has no idea how offensive this is. He really has no clue how to relate to women, and what the boundaries should be in fairness and equality.

Nor does he care. He doesn’t value (professional) relationships with women and sees no benefit.

It is just this retardation of behavior that has caused me to leave the Dems. I don’t fit there any longer, nor do I want to.

Robin Morgan is an ugly, angry, bitter, stupid, jealous, petty little B*tch. Period. Look at how OBSESSED with Palin these freaky women are. I happen to love Palin, but then again I admire successful women and they inspire me. Unlike jealous freaks who want to tear women down out of fear and envy. That Robin chick has some hormonal issues and should be ignored.

Truthteller, it is this sexism, this misogyny that the Obama camp, the DNC, and the MSM have employed all election season long that has turned this lifelong, yellow dog left-wing Democrat into an Independent. (Oh – and the vote stealing by the RBC as well as all of the caucus fraud, nominee selection, etc., etc.) I have not seen anything like this in decades.

WHEN are women going to stop voting against our OWN SELF-INTEREST??? Internalized misogyny is, unfortunately, alive and well.

Thanks for this (I think! ;-) )

I am saddened by these “feminist leaders” who disparage all of us who don’t fit in their narrow little definition of what a feminist is. To paraphrase Martin Neimoller:
First they came for Senator Hillary Clinton, but I wasn’t a senator, so I remained silent;
Then they came for Governor Sarah Palin, but I wasn’t a governor or a Republican, so I remained silent;
Then they came for – yeah fill in the blank.
If we don’t stand up for each other, despite whatever ideological differences we may have, we will never get anywhere..

It’s hard to believe how women have been bullied by high-school blackballing tactics into being afraid to call themselves feminists or to take a stand for women’s rights. They’ve been made afraid of being called names like “b*tch” or *ball buster* or “angry lesbian” (haha). Our rights steadily erode, and we never get past block one – control over our reproductive choices.

Lest we thought we’d really gotten somewhere, and that “liberal males” were on our side, this election process has been a stunning wake up call.

And still some women aren’t waking up.

Comment by streetparade | 2008-11-03 01:58:03

Liberal males are on the side of abortion, not women. Many so-called ‘feminists’ have only one issue – abortion. Ipso facto, the two make a perfect pairing.

I’m so sick of this crap. I’ll be honored to have McCain as my President and Palin as my Vice President. I can’t say the same if my former party succeeds in this election. I’m embarrassed by the actions of the DNC, Barack Obama and all those that support him in these efforts. I’m equally embarrassed by the women out there that think we shouldn’t speak out about it…that we’re supposed to just shut up and take it.

Comment by wodiej | 2008-11-02 20:45:57

Any self respecting woman should be outraged about this new ad. It does not suprise me though coming from Obama. He must think there are enough women in this country who still don’t think of themselves as good enough to do better. I can assure you I like many of you on here, are not one of those women. Because we are voting for someone who does realize the worth of women and he’s got her on his ticket as VP, Sarah Palin.

We all know and have experienced firsthand the winks, stares, whistles….being overlooked for deserved promotions, being treated second class at work by our bosses w demeaning, sexist behavior and remarks. Some women even allow themselves to be treated like this by a family member, friends and/or a partner. We live with this every single day. And obviously we will be for some time going forward.

They can make all the laws in the world saying it protects women and their interests. But when men primarily run the country and courts, the key is judges enforcing these protections. Most of the time, they don’t.

God Bless America and God Bless John McCain and Sarah Palin and all of the brave women who stand up for themselves and each other.

As for Robin Morgan, I couldn’t even read the entire comment…she is of no importance to me. She has a serious case of deprivation of self respect and that is her issue, not mine. I hope she gets some help-she needs it. She claims to be a feminist and for womens rights? Not even close.

Obama hated his mother and her whiteness.

Obama hates his white grandmother for being white.

Obama hates his black grandmother for being black and living in squalor.

Obama just hates women.

Obama especially hates older women; most of all he hates older white women, but he hates older black women too.

Obama is afraid of Michelle; she scares him.

Comment by EightBelles | 2008-11-02 21:47:10

For some time now I’ve thought it strange that in Barack Obama’s autobiography he appears to have more issues of hate and mixed emotions toward the women in his life than toward men. It struck me as a bit odd the revulsion he felt upon coming to the realization that his mom was strongly attracted to black men. I mean it seems like that would have been a no brainer for someone of BO’s intelligence.

My belief is he didn’t choose Hillary Clinton for his running mate because of issues with women–that and his enormous ego.

October 31
Can Obama Pull Off A Hugo Chavez..You can bet your assets

Can Obama Pull Off A Hugo Chavez…You can bet your assets.

The Violent Crime Control Act of 1994 provides
additional powers to the President of the United
States, allowing the suspension of the
Constitution and Constitutional rights of
Americans during a “drug crisis”. It provides for
the construction of detention camps, seizure of
property, and military control of populated areas.
This, teamed with the Executive Orders of the
President, enables Orwellian prophecies to rest on
whoever occupies the White House. The power
provided by these “laws” allows suspension of the
Constitution and the rights guaranteed in the Bill
of Rights during any civil disturbances, major
demonstrations and strikes and allows the military
to implement government ordered movements of
civilian populations at state and regional levels,
the arrest of certain unidentified segments of the
population, and the imposition of Martial Law.

When the Constitution of the United States was
framed it placed the exclusive legislative
authority in the hands of Congress and with the
President. Article I, Section 1 of the United
States Constitution is concise in its language,
“All legislative powers herein granted shall be
vested in a Congress of the United States, which
shall consist of a Senate and House of
Representatives.” That is no longer true. The Bill
of Rights protected Americans against loss of
freedoms. That is no longer true. The Constitution
provided for a balanced separation of powers. That is no longer applicable.

Perhaps it can be summed up succinctly in the words of arch-conservative activist Howard J Ruff. “Since the enactment of Executive Order 11490, the only thing standing between us and
dictatorship is the good character of the President, and the lack of a crisis severe enough that the public would stand still for it.” Here are just a few Executive Orders that would suspend the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. These Executive Orders have been on record for nearly 30 years and could be enacted by the stroke of a Presidential pen:

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10990 allows the government to take over all modes of transportation and control of highways and seaports.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10995 allows the government to seize and control the communication media.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10997 allows the government to take over all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels and minerals.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 10998 allows the government to take over all food resources and farms.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11000 allows the government to mobilize civilians into work brigades under government supervision.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11001 allows the government to take over all health, education and welfare functions.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11002 designates the Postmaster General to operate a national registration of all persons.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11003 allows the government to take over all airports and aircraft, including commercial aircraft.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11004 allows the Housing and Finance Authority to relocate communities, build new housing with public funds, designate areas to be abandoned, and establish new locations for populations.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11005 allows the government to take over railroads, inland waterways and public storage facilities.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11051 specifies the responsibility of the Office of Emergency Planning and gives authorization to put all Executive Orders into effect in times of increased international tensions and economic or financial crisis.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11310 grants authority to the Department of Justice to enforce the plans set out in Executive Orders, to institute industrial support, to establish judicial and legislative liaison, to control all aliens, to operate penal and correctional institutions, and to advise and assist the President. Here are the later Executive Orders:

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11049 assigns emergency preparedness function to federal departments and agencies, consolidating 21 operative Executive Orders issued over a fifteen year period.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 11921 allows the Federal Emergency Preparedness Agency to develop plans to establish control over the mechanisms of production and distribution, of energy sources, wages, salaries, credit and the flow of money in U.S. financial institution in any undefined national emergency. It also provides that when a state of emergency is declared by the President, Congress cannot review the action for six months.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 12148 created the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that is to interface with the Department of Defense for civil defense planning and funding. An “emergency czar” was appointed. FEMA has only spent about 6 percent of its budget on national emergencies, the bulk of their funding has been used for the construction of secret underground facilities to assure continuity of government in case of a major emergency, foreign or domestic.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 12656 appointed the National Security Council as the principal body that should consider emergency powers. This allows the government to increase domestic intelligence and surveillance of U.S. citizens and would restrict the freedom of movement within the United States and granted the government the right to isolate large groups of civilians. The National Guard could be federalized to seal all borders and take control of U.S. air space and all ports of entry. Many of the figures in the Iran-Contra scandal were part of this emergency contingent, including Marine Colonel Oliver North.

The Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act (VCCLEA; also known as the Biden Crime Law) was an act of Congress dealing with crime and law enforcement that became law in 1994. It is the largest crime bill in the history of the US and will provide for 100,000 new police officers, $9.7 billion in funding for prisons and $6.1 billion in funding for prevention programs which were designed with significant input from experienced police officers. [1] Sponsored by U.S. Representative Jack Brooks of Texas, the bill was passed by Congress and signed into law by President Bill Clinton.

After spending nine years in Navy Intelligence as a Cryptologist, intercepting communications from Marxist/Socialist countries, breaking their codes, and gathering intelligence in “other” ways. I am familiar with their methods of using the media for propangada, using the educational system to indoctrinate young minds, using the judicial system, and voter fraud to steal elections.
This is what is happening now in america.

From everything I have researched in the last two years, has lead me to conclude that Obama was selected, tutored, groomed, scripted, and financed by Radical Marxist/Socialists to become the puppet leader of the USSA.

There is a vast difference between Social Democrats and Radical Marxist/Socialists. Hillary Clinton is a Social Democrat. Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, Schumer, Durbin, Franks,Boxer, and a few others now in Congress are Radical Marxist/Socialists.

On my website: [valsword.spaces.live.com] I have a 16 minute video of an interview with Yure Bezmenov a KGB agent who defected in 1970. This interview was recorded 24 years ago,
and the transcript highlights, in Yuri’s own words confirm what I mentioned in the first paragraph.

I pray that I am wrong, but from everything I have researched, I believe Obama, with a Reid Pelosi led Congress, with a radical judicial system will pull a Hugo Chavez.

With a filibuster proof congress led by Reid and Pelosi. What is to stop Obama from pulling a Hugo Chavez. A closed mind is like a locked door, unless the right key is found, nothing enters. Unfortunately for many the key will be hindsight.

In a recent address to his subjects, carried by fiat on all of the nation’s television channels, Venezuela’s authoritarian president Hugo Chávez Frias, who has previously taken over the airways for the celebration of his own birthday, now turned his country’s attention to more urgent matters. The time had come, he explained, to move the “Bolivarian revolution” from its Lenin-like beginnings of transitional capitalism towards a more robust command economy. The nation had at last “broken the chains of the old, exploitative capitalist system,” he said. “The state now has the obligation to build the model of a socialist economy.”The next stage of the socialist revolution will require making thirty-three separate amendments to the Venezuelan constitution—a document Chávez previously rewrote upon his ascension to Miraflores Palace in 1999. The most dramatic and controversial change will eliminate presidential term limits, ensuring the fulfillment of Chavez’s promise not to leave office until 2021. To Hugo Chávez, a permanent revolution requires that he wield permanent power. It’s a risky move, considering recent opinion polls showing a majority of Venezuelans skeptical to further constitutional “reform,” especially if it means the possibility of adopting a President Chávez for life. But the same public, polling data demonstrates, also opposed the government’s refusal to renew a broadcast license for RCTV, the country’s oldest and most anti-Chávez private television network, and that storm seems to have passed.

When I first saw that commercial, it immediately struck me as sexist. By showing the shot of Palin winking, without saying a word, and with no other explanation, it was like his campaign was saying, look he chose a woman. It seemed as though they thought that nothing else would need to be said, because they assumed everyone would agree that an attractive winking woman couldn’t possibly be capable.

Off topic, but just wanted to post link to Atlas Shrugs and the video of Jerrold Nadler saying Obama didn’t leave Trinity because he didn’t have the POLITICAL COURAGE to do so:

I think that ad just about says it all far as the sexist candidate, Barack Obama, and the misogynistic Democratic Party. Many of my female relatives living in NC have turned against Obama over the past month mainly due to the shabby treatment of Sarah Palin by Dems and the elite MSM who are in the tank for Obama. My mom won’t be voting for BO nor will my sister or two of my nieces. One niece, a college student, feels that BO is the worst thing to happen in the 21st century to women young and old. Her My Space features an anti-Obama rant virtually every day of the week. I have two college aged daughters who won’t be voting for BO either. One of them was a HRC supporter before even I saw the light. The other one attends one of the most liberal colleges in the country, and yet she could never bring herself to vote for The One.

The point I’m trying to make is there has to be countless stories from others all across America similar to mine where entire families of liberals have evacuated the Democratic ship of fools as if it were the Titanic both sinking and on fire.

Siskind was right on the money too.

Barack Obama shows poor judgment. Barack Obama shows poor judgment. Barack Obama shows poor judgment. Barack Obama shows poor judgment. Barack Obama shows poor judgment.

I keep hearing it all the time.

Please people. Please!

Name one instance when Barack Obama has shown any judgment at all.

Barack Obama showed sound judgment when he said questions like those are “above my pay grade.”

He was right!

So is the office of President of the United States of America.

That add was very misleading. I thought it was a McCain ad ’till I relized, rather quickly, that it was a SLAM on Gov. Palin.

But you know on nuetral ground it backfired… bigtime.

I reacted positively when seeing Gov. Palin. It did not matter what she was saying.

BO is sucking eggs on this one.
Good post Truth Teller.

More video of Nadler from Atlas Shrugs. Nadler seems to think that if there really were phone banks for Obama in Gaza, it would be a huge campaign issue.

Truthteller, thank you for this stellar post. Bozo’s use of sexism and misogyny and the pile-on by so-called “progressives” have driven sane people from the democratic party.

We need more and more people to tell it like it is. Lynette Long sure did on NQ Radio today.

As a 30-year Democrat I voted Republican down the ticket in FL in PROTEST of what my party did to Hillary and later Sarah.

The fact that I always liked McCain’s centrist leanings was a plus for me. McCain made me feel good about my vote.

But if Romney or Huckabee were the candidate, I’d still do the same.

PROTEST VOTE. AGAINST THE DNC.

Because democrats claim to be the “aware” party yet they brutalized Hillary, as a woman, MORE than the republican party ever did.

And if any of the Dean-Brazille-Obama CABAL are lurking, you go back and tell the good doctor who heads up that sham of a party this:

When Obama played JZ’s song at his rally, and I quote:

I got 99 problems but a bitch ain’t one of them.

You lost my vote. I repeat.

THAT SONG, approved by Obama, LOST MY VOTE.

Any woman, especially a woman with daughters like I am, who can look the other way at this BITCH SLAP at all women from Obama, and still vote for this creep, then you are NOT a feminist.

You’re just another self-loathing female who has bought into the patriarchal prison in your mind.

Well, we’re “bitch slapping” Oprecious right back with our McPalin vote.

Moreover, a Republican vote down ticket will send a middle-finger salute to the Pod Dem Party.

Truthteller,

I have tried numerous ways to correct and reform a non-offensive post in support of lightacandle’s excellent “shadow” proposal.

I have no idea why it will not appear. Could you please check the filters or whatever and let me know what is keeping me from being able to post the comment.

Thanks, and thanks also for your posts.

This ad is a hail Mary pass from Obama — he is trying for one group — the male chauvinist pigs — who might vote for McCain but can be persuaded into remembering that above all else they hate women.

And then we have the self hating women (or guys who use female screen names) who just hate other women who are successful.

For O-zero to use this ad — tells me that he knows that he will lose this election and lose big. Or he is just absolutely stupid and his handlers are telling him that only a few dozen people show up at Palin rallies.

There is a critical period in young male lives when they learn respect for women — and Obama was in Indonesia during a critical period of cultural socialization.

Disgusting, divisive ad–but that is what Obama is. He doesn’t believe in one nation–just words.
What I look forward to most in a McCain administration is a man who is humble, not arrogant, a wan who is a true hero who has served his country in the military and who has a track record of reaching across the aisle to get things done. Obama doesn’t even have a track record of serving his country in the Senate. He has done nothing but divide this nation in the most divisive campaign ever–man against woman, black against white, poor against successful.

John McCain has a life time of honesty to be judged upon.

Even with his most regretted failing (his first marriage failure) he takes full responsibility. He set up a generous alimony which he still pays and gave his ex-wife all their property. He gave her his respect and stil vaues her as a friend and loves her sons that he adopted as though they are his own flesh and blood.

John McCain has lived his life with honor and integrity. The Keating 5 scandal was for McCain an deeply painful event. Even though he was cleared of ALL WRONG DOING like John Glenn he was determined to make every day forward a proof of the vindication. John McCain has made every effort to keep all of his dealing fully transparant (a term Obama only applies to lingere and saran-wrap).

Every donation to the campaign and the donor is posted for inspection.

John felt that the pay raises that congress has voted for itself over and over were WRONG–so he votes against them every year and when they pass as they ALWAYS do he takes the extra and gives it to charity. He draws only what he was paid his first year in the senate.

Last year he gave 27% of his income to charity and in 2006 19%

Obama by contrast has given ess than 1% of his income to charity unti this year when the discrepancy was pointed out.

Sarah Palin gave over $5200 in 2007 that is more than Joe Biden has given in the last 8 years.

Look at the level of honesty from McCain and then look at Obama. Obama demanded that John McCain present his birth credentials to prove he was qualified to run–and what happened to Obama’s birth certificate??????????

John has given us 1400 pages of medica records and mental health evals.

Barack a page stating he has good health.
Even after years of prolonged cocaine, and other drug use.

Honesty is the most important piece in helping Americans to trust their government again.

Siskind could have done a much better job explaining why this ad is sexist.

Stephanie Bressler hit the nail on the head. Because Palin is depicted speaking without her words being heard, It sends a message to men that women are to be looked at and not listened to. Combined with the pics of Palin standing on the stage with the camera’s view between Palin’s red stilleto-heeled legs of the men looking up at her and cheering, it was analagous to her being a stripper.

And for Feminist women who may be contemplating a vote for McCain/Palin, the image is of a woman who really has nothing to say (add) to the political dialogue, because she is a mere pretty face; and don’t you hate conservative women who look pretty but they don’t have much to say (that you like to hear) who aren’t feminists anyway? Afterall, She was a beauty queen.

Everyone should check this out and cast your vote:
