You Be the Judge

There are certain cans of worms I’d prefer not to open. I’m a mere hobbyist blogger and really don’t need a lot of added aggravation in my life. Having said that, I’m not going to editorialize at all. I’m going to post a story that was brought to my attention by the Council on American Islamic Relations. I have a feeling that, unfortunately, it won’t be the last dealing with this explosive topic and these sorts of disturbing allegations.

OK I lied. I will editorialize. If the story is true then the attackers should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. If it isn’t then the same goes for the accuser. Not to diminish the seriousness of the allegations being made by the alleged victim, but there’s a certain Bonfire of the Vanities quality to this story.

This is the kind of story that could lead to rioting and violence and could have all sorts of repercussions. I just happen to think that if you’re going to publish such a story it would probably be a good idea to make damn sure it’s true.
