Don’t you wish we were as superior and elite as TalkLeft’s Jeralyn Merritt?

Jeralyn. If only I could be like you. But clearly I’m just a crumb-bum, sorta like that trailer trash from Arkansas. Ewwwww. (See David Fiderer’s fine essay here, “Maureen Dowd, and The Women of Washington Who Project on to Hillary” as well as my essay, reprinted below the fold, about how the D.C. elite treated the Clintons when they arrived in 1992.)

And that governor from Alaska. Oh, can you just imagine how upset Sally Quinn would have been if she and D.C. society had had to deal with that woman?

Jeralyn is so relieved. Look at this story, “Another Bullet Dodged By Palin’s Loss” (h/t Andy):

We're not going to have Gov. Sarah Palin to kick around any more much longer, which is fine by me, since all I ever wanted was for her not to become Vice President and for people to recognize John McCain's astoundingly reckless judgment in choosing her for the ticket, but I do find this amusing and can't resist writing about it.

The New York Times recaps her final moments at the Arizona Biltmore Wednesday and last trip aboard her McCain-Palin campaign plane:

As Ms. Palin’s entourage of two dozen family members and friends boarded the plane, and aides scurried around loading diapers, bottled water and a Louis Vuitton duffel onto it, Ms. Palin darted over to the reporters, whom she regularly derided as “Barack Obama’s friends in the media” in her stump speech, to shake hands and say goodbye.

24 family members and friends? Wow, did we dodge a bullet. With Obama, we often complained he threw people under the bus. Palin, it seems, wanted to put everyone and then some on it.

Good riddance, Sarah. Had you and McCain won, watching (and paying for) your entourage for the next four years would have been as unbearable as listening to your garbled sentences.

Boy, we sure are lucky, aren’t we!

Just out of curiosity, I wonder what Lady Lynn Rothschild and Dr. Lynette Long thought of Sarah.

Lady Lynn and Dr. Lynette are unusual in their willingness to mix it up with BOTH Arkansas trailer trash and Sarah and all those, um, people on Sarah’s bus.

What does that say about Lady Lynn and Dr. Lynette?!?!?!? Goodness.

I really don’t think that Sally Quinn will be extending any soiree invitations any time soon to those two!

Sarah, you’re not the only one. I’ll reprint my story — when I was known by another name that must now not be spoken aloud — from last February, “‘Singled Out’ as Fair Game“:

At Shakespeare’s Sister, certainly one of our most erudite, and refreshingly pithy blogs, Mustang Bobby joins the brilliant blogger Digby in pondering the question that simply isn’t asked enough either by the media or by most Americans who unthinkingly buy into the fashionably negative patter about the Clintons:

Following up on the story of MSNBC reporter David Shuster being suspended for his comments about Chelsea Clinton, Digby has it right: why are the Clintons held to a different standard than every other candidate?

It hasn’t been just the self-important elite class who annoint, from on high, who meets their tight-nostriled criteria. It extended even to the White House staff. When the Clintons moved in to the White House in 1993, they “ordered that portraits of Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman be hung prominently,” writes Sidney Blumenthal in his book about the Clinton presidency:

But the pictures were not put in place. The instructions to the staff were relayed again. Only after a month, and further prodding, was the order carried out. Some of the White House staf held, it seemed, a class deference to the previous Republican residents. From their upstairs-downstairs angle, patricians were being replaced by outlanders who didn’t know their place.

One of the more poignant passages I read in Blumenthal’s book on his years as a senior adviser in the Clinton White House was on a scarcely known, unreported outcome of the incessant investigations and media obsession with Whitewater:

On December 13, 1995, the Resolution Trust Corporation [created by the U.S government to oversee the S&L meltdown] released its … report on Whitewater … the result of an inquiry directed by the Republican Jay Stephens, a former U.S. attorney, and his law firm, Pillsbury, Madison and Sutro. … all fears from the White House turned out to be misplaced. The report completely and categorically absolved the Clintons–and answered all outstanding questions about Whitewater.

Why do I call the passage poignant? Because after describing the enormous relief that the Clintons felt — “they were vindicated” — Blumenthal reports that the White House sent out copies of the report to “more than 150 news organizations,” and that the Clintons eagerly anticipated the widespread reports of the extremely positive findings from a neutral agency:

Then, nothing happened. … The Wall Street Journal ran a straightforward article in its news pages. But days passed and nothing appeared in The Washington Post and The New York Times. No network broadcast any report. As it happened, the Post never mentioned it, and almost two weeks later, in an item in the Sunday “News of the Week in Review,” the Times published only a few lines, and somewhat misleading ones at that.

Mustang Bobby explains further:

The Clintons have always been held to a different standard than just about every other modern political family. We have the right wing to thank for that, and in a magnificent fit of attempted equalization, they say the left is just as bad about the Bush family, labeling it “Bush Derangement Syndrome.” (As is the case with all right-wing attempts at equalization, it doesn’t work. I am unaware that anyone is out there promoting a film that accuses George W. Bush of murdering his opponents.)But the question remains: what is it about the Clintons that sets them apart?

I have friends — otherwise bright, analytical people — who simply dislike the Clintons and have NO conscious awareness of the ORIGINS of their dislike, and how much their dislike has been shaped by the years and years and years of attacks from the rightwing noise machine, and has seeped through the mainstream media.

I suppose there are any number of answers, ranging from some deep-seated resentment based on a socio-economic snobbery (the Clintons were referred to as the “Arkansas HillBillies” by the wingnuts when Bill was elected in 1992) to just pure visceral hatred that reaches Shakespearean levels and is just as inexplicable: Iago never fully explains why he hates Othello.

How dare those “Arkansas Hillbillies” invade the D.C. elites’ patrician turf? Those friends of mine have no idea how, in 1992, the socialite snob of Washington, D.C. — Sally Quinn — declared the Clintons to be just not the right kind of people for Washington, D.C., and how the venom of her and other Washington insiders’ attacks have filtered throughout the press corps who, most of all, want to feel like they “belong.” These days, Frank Rich and Maureen Dowd continue the smirking, sniffing, looking-down-upon — burying the Clintons up to their necks in sand and lobbing hard rocks of verbal attacks upon them. (I’m certain that a good part of Shuster’s nastiness to the Clinton’s emanates from that pressure to fit in to the elite media.) Quinn regularly wrote Washington Post columns belittling or advising the Clintons on how they should behave. One 1992 article was subtitled, “Welcome to Washington, but Play by Our Rules.” Bill Clinton made numerous efforts, holding several intimate dinners at the White House, trying to charm the Washington elite. Blumenthal writes that he attended one of the dinners and that “every amenity available” was extended to the elite. But there was nothing that he or Hillary could say, as Blumenthal makes clear in another Sally Quinn story:

In his inaugural, Clinton honed the line he had used at Mrs. [Katherine] Graham’s. “This beautiful capital, like every capital since the dawn of civilization,” he said, “is often a place of intrigue and calculation. Powerful people maneuver for position and worry endlessly about who is in and who is out, who is up and who is down, forgetting those people whose toil and sweat ends us here and pays our way.” In the CBS studio in Washington, Sally Quinn, who was serving as a commentator, turned to a producer. “That’s a terrible mistake he’s made, attacking Washington. He said the same thing the other night at Kay’s and everyone reacted very negatively. I have to go on the air to say that,” Quinn said, according to the producer.

And the beat goes on.

Great stuff Bronwyn. I have to LOL at the notion that the Democratic Party is the party of the common/working man, and as His Benevolence the Great said, he’s the One looking out for the rights of “Main Street not Wall Street.” The reality is there a bunch of pseudo-intellectual elitist hypocrites led by their leader in the new Office of President Elect.

I actually enjoyed “Brian and the Judge” for most of the election season, finding that they took a very no-nonsense, essentially non-partisan approach to their examination and discussion of the campaign.

Then, two days ago, one of them fed us this line- “George W Bush is being extremely gracious in preparing the transition for Barack Obama to enter the White House, in sharp contrast with the Clintons who, we all remember, trashed the White House before Bush moved in, removing the Ws from the typewriters…absolutely disgraceful…”

Yeah, absolutely disgraceful- that a LIE spread by the bitter right-wingers who had just been defeated, happily picked up by the Anti-Clinton press (who even gave space to rumors that the Clintons had stolen silverware from the White House!) and completely refuted MONTHS later by the Bush White House (a refutation which received much, much less publicity) should rear its ugly head once again, eight years later. So much for the nonpartisan even keel of the “Brian and the Judge” show. Off my list.

Comment by AnnieCollier | 2008-11-08 23:33:33

This is the treatment the Clintons got from the day they moved in. Anything they were accused of got tope billing and when exonerated, was put on page 16. Supposedly they stole furniture from the WH. A complete lie.

These people make me sick.

Brian and the judge kept saying that all of the associations didn’t matter and that no one should be talking about Ayers, Wright, Khalidi should not be a topic for any campaign. They thought it should be all about the economy. I never felt they were on McCain’s side or even neutral. McCain had no one on his side really. Even Hannity should have done more sooner.

Where are the true Americans who want to save this country??????

Most of my life, for some reason, it seems like I have had more men around than women (relatives, co-workers, friends). I am no longer sure what “liberal” means.

Like many of you all — I am trying to work through a major identity crisis.

Not too long ago I though I was a democrat, a liberal and a feminist.

But we have been told by Donna (who is a racist) Brazillion that we are no longer wanted nor needed by the Democrat party. So many of us left — I am now an Independent.

I thought I was a liberal — but when I watched in horror as “liberals” called Hillary Clinton the most horrid and vile name and treated her like she was the enemy. Well I guess I’m not a liberal, because I believed that Hillary was the best candidate of either party — and I still believe she is the best one for this time of economic crisis.

But I will not accept the judgment of so called “feminists” like Gloria Steinem who has gotten flaky in her old age (probably that Playboy bunny tail went to her brain).

NOW is a joke — choosing an abusive (verbal as far as we know) over a women with a long proven record of fighting for women and children’s human rights.

Jerayn Merritt — she’s another sexist pig — part of the new liberals or the old liberals — and I guess then I was never a liberal. But I’m not a conservative.

Right now I have no idea how to classify myself — but I haven’t changed. My core values have not changed — I am still the same person. I believe in honesty and justice. I believe in judging a person by their character and I have ALWAYS DONE THIS.

So I conclude that it is the so called Liberals like Jerayn Merritt who have changed. They are supporting a morally, ethically and politically corrupt person called Obama. They are supporting someone who has lied numerous times — that it takes a computer database to track all of his lies and variations of lies. They are supporting a thief, bully and a thug (passive aggressive thug).

But to have another female come out with such hate filled garbage against another woman who is to her core an honest and caring person — is unacceptable. So whatever party Jerayn is a member of — that is NOT my party. She does not share my core values.

Is she a Neo-Liberal? and are there Neo-feminist and Neo-democrats — and are there Neo-females?

Comment by Northwest rain | 2008-11-08 23:35:10

Comment by Zeke | 2008-11-09 01:22:29

Rain has spoken on this with justifiable vigor. I spoke with Silent Bill (the best damn shot I ever saw) again yesterday and he and I attempted to calculate the possibility that a person could get caught in X number of lies and still remain or attain office.
Since we used Nixon as a baseline, we thought we were good. Umm Uhhh, what we meant to say was that uhh we ummm couldn’t ascribe this to anything but two possibilities.
One: Obama has somehow subconsciously influenced the electorate.
Two: Something supernatural has really occurred.
We have gone on and on and on and found crime after crime after crime and not a damned thing sticks to the sonofabitch. NUTHEEEENNNGGG!
I would gladly listen to a non-bot explain this extraordinary phenomenon that even other world leaders look at and laughingly shake their heads.

Zeke, I’ve been thinking the same thing. Here’s a couple of my nutty possiblities to add to you list:

1. Communists have infiltrated every nook and cranny of our society and we’re the last ones to figure it out.

2. Radicals, terrorists and criminals have joined together in a huge international conspiracy. The Feds know about it and they’re on the case. They have ordered the media to keep silent on critical facts so the situation can play itself out to a point that all participants in this sinister plot can be nailed. Shortly before the Electoral College meets, they will swoop in and make massive arrested and save us from a fate worse than death! ;-)

Like many of you all — I am trying to work through a major identity crisis.

Freedom is scary. That’s why most reject it.

(Replace “he” by “she” where appropriate. I leave the original quote intact.)

The fact is that the average man’s love of liberty is nine-tenths imaginary, exactly like his love of sense, justice and truth. He is not actually happy when free; he is uncomfortable, a bit alarmed, and intolerably lonely. Liberty is not a thing for the great masses of men. It is the exclusive possession of a small and disreputable minority, like knowledge, courage and honor. It takes a special sort of man to understand and enjoy liberty — and he is usually an outlaw in democratic societies. – H. L. Mencken

There is a wonderful mythical law of nature that the three things we crave most in life — happiness, freedom, and peace of mind — are always attained by giving them to someone else. – Peyton Conway March

We’ve all heard the joke line, “Get out of my head!”
In this case it is the opposite… let that thought inside your head.
Regardless of political stance, we are those disreputable minority.
Mr. X’s wonderful, thoughtfully submitted quote describes our true commonality. Guys, it doesn’t matter how many we are… what matters is that we know what is right!

Zeke, I agree. You have eloquently put words to what I am feeling these days.

If it were not for NQ and a few other sites like this I would feel that I am totally alone right now. I have lost several friends this election season. (Actually, they could not be true friends if I lost them, but that is a different matter.)Some friends were lost for calling out racist or unsubstantiated lies about Obama (he was educated in a madrassa) and some because I supported McCain-Palin. I have tried to be fair and live up to true liberal core attitudes and beliefs. But this year I seem to be a minority.

I believe I am still a liberal. I have not deserted liberal core beliefs. I do not suffer from an identity crisis. Bur nevertheless, it is hard to be in this position right now.

The problem as I see it is that some liberals have devolved into and become radical leftists in order to win. That is a desertion of true liberal values. That is slipping into dangerous territory by becoming what you hate. If this plays all the way out all the way, the US of A will soon devolve into fascism. I fear for my country. However, I will also fight for her no matter where it takes me. I do not like neocons. I also do not like neolibs. And that is exactly what too many Obama supporters are. They are the flip sides of the same coin. And that coin is dangerous in a free democratic Republic. I will be a part of the loyal opposition and I shall become part of the résistance of it comes to that.

Northwest rain,

Well said. I have felt like the world has turned upside down during this election season. But I feel just like you do. My core values are the same, and Hillary best suited my values and what I think is good for the country. Extreme views and partisanship, as well as overt sexism, allowing any faction to ignore outright illegal activities in the service of their ideology is no way to run a free democracy. It is demagoguery and propaganda of the highest order. Dangerous, a slippery slope and subject to mob action.

As far as Jeralyn goes, she used to be a frequent pundit in the OJ era and after, and I always though her affect and the way she spoke was very unusual. Speaks for itself, I guess.

Do you want to know the real difference between a Conservative and a Liberal?

A Conservative says ‘Live and let live’
A Liberal says ‘Live as I live (or as I state you should).

Aside from the extreme right-wing nuts (yes, we have them too :) , most Conservatives could care less if you don’t agree with them. We have our morals, values, and core beliefs, and so be it. This is why the wonderful Sarah Palin didn’t enforce her pro-life stance on her State. She held to her belief and let others hold to theirs. I too am a staunch pro-lifer, but then again, I am pro-choice. See, that doesn’t make sense to a Liberal. For ME I am pro-life. For others, pro-choice. It is between that person and God. I am not to judge. Oh, and I decided to stay home and raise my kids while my hubby provides for us. See, to the far-lefties and the Femnazis, I can’t be a real woman now, can I? And to this I say, whatever. I will live my life, everyone else live theirs. We all pay bills and taxes (most of us anyway). We all laugh, we all cry. We all live, we all die. So be it. Stop worrying about everyone else’s life and concentrate on making your own count.

Just saying…
(and I hope I didn’t offend and straight thinking Liberals out there. Even Cons don’t think you’re all bad…just most of you :)

The majority of the Repub party is anti-woman/anti-gay which is why I am usually forced to vote Dem. There is nothing about ‘live and let live’ in that position.

The far-right is saying they are taking the party back (funny, since they never lost the far-right position). They are pushing the moderates out of committee positions and not going to support their re-election bids and fund conservatives to get them out. They have already blamed the social moderate branch of the party for the McCain pick and the party losses.

I’m going to do more research and find individual moderate Repubs to support and will be forced to leave the top blank. I will not vote for a far-right Pres. Palin is not live and let live in any way. She supported Prop 8.

Couldn’t agree more. Sally Quinn may consider herself the arbiter of good taste but her ugliness is evident from her nastiness toward others. She didn’t become successful until she married Ben Bradlee. Maybe that’s what bothers her.

At least Sarah Palin has succeeded on her on with a (seemingly) equal partnership with Todd.

Comment by Cindy | 2008-11-09 00:04:08

And the reason she got Ben Bradlee is because she busted up his marriage, don’t forget. But I’m sure their adultery was tastefully done.. Well said, Northwest Rain. We’re feeling the same way here trying to figure out where we fit in. It just stunned me to find out that the Dems are exactly like the Rs I despised for so many years.

But the Obama campaign used a stealth version of the Republican tactics and the media was compliant. Unless you spent your time here at NQ you were unable to learn anything about BO.

And I just feel terrible about Palin. She was more investigated and examined in 6 wks than BO was in 2 yrs.

Bronwyn’s Harbor, People in DC have always hated and resented the Clintons. And how many times did someone tell me during the primary how much they hated “that woman”. And this was from my peer group–baby boomer women. They hated everything Hillary or they told me they would have voted for her except for Bill.

I don’t understand why the Clintons would want to even stay in D.C. Why not move to Manhattan and put all their time and energy into Bill’s foundation like Bill and Melinda Gates?

WTF? There is no precident for what the DEMOCRATS have done in this election. The magnitude of the fraud is staggering. Your candidate is an extremist crypto-marxist who hates woman. George Soros, a man who wants to destroy Anmerica, funds and runs your party. ACORN is all dem. Campaign donations flooded in from foreign countries once Obama stopped tracking names and addresses.

You need to come out of your fog and realize the MSM has brain washed you for 20 years. How can there even be a democrat party who has people in it like Murtha and Barney Frank. Hillary endorsed AL FRAKEN for god’s sake. The Dem party is nothing but Leftists and radicals. There are no moderates. This hasn’t happened over night. But none of you dems could see it until they attacked Hillary.

Comment by Snickers | 2008-11-09 02:35:10

Geo,
Most of us here did see what the Dems were doing, hence our becoming PUMAs and crossing the aisles to vote McCain/Palin. However, it was the GOP and their relentless attacking of the Clintons who began this horrific era in politics. You don’t really believe that Dubya won the election in 2000? I mean you don’t really believe that, do you? Not really?

Comment by PumaFire | 2008-11-09 03:53:30

You don’t really believe that Dubya won the election in 2000? I mean you don’t really believe that, do you? Not really?

On what objective basis can you say Bush did not win the election in 2000? I have asked this question for 8 years and no one has ever supplied any decent argument.

How did Bush steal the election? Are you going on the basis of exit polls? Bush won by a larger margin in 2004. CNN called the election in 2000 before the polls had closed in the western panhandle. This disenfranchised 20,000 votes in repub districts.

Ask far as when the dirty politics began, the dirtiest political assault ever launched on any single human was when Clarence Thomas (A BLACK MAN) was pilloried on national TV in hearings over unproven allogations from a single disgruntled individual you made claims of events which putatively occurred 20 years before the event. And even if the claims were all entirely true, they still would not have constituted a crime. There was no allegations of physical contact, verbal abuse or any other crime.

Clarence Thomas has not had the slightest tendencies toward sexual Harassment.

When Clinton wa accused of real sexual harrassment by multiple woman and was cheating again on Hillary you called us liars.

Well the stained dress did not lie. You were the liars. Clinton was impeached. I think it was payback for the disgrace of what happened to Clarence Thomas, a Black Man with an opinion different than yours.

Palin is being Clarence Thomased. It not race not but gender that freaks the dems. THEY WANT TO OWN THE RACE AND GENDER CARD.

That is why palin threatens them.

I am a PUMA and I hope you can see the dynamics of what has played out between parties. I don’t like it but it must be observed, acknowledged and analyzed or else we will be at each others throats.

The MSM has gotten us to fight each other so the politicians can do their dirty deals.

Comment by Gayle | 2008-11-09 09:10:36

Jeralyn is a big disappointment. Whatever her politics may be, she lost my respect with her derisive hyperbole toward Palin and her fervent pretzel bending to accommodate her support of Obama after Hillary suspended her campaign. Being the “good girl” that she is, she appears to have given up what small portion of intelligence her brain contained.

Oh well. BTD was the best diarist over at TL, in my opinion, even if he was an Obama supporter.

I quit going there months ago. It was a refuge for a time, before the primaries were over. I am sure that they are glad to be rid of the Hillary refugees that camped out over there for a time. I heard the BTD even commented on how stupid PUMAs were, so the elitist Obama supporting intolerance for dissenting views must have taken over at TL. Pity, that.

Comment by IvyLeaguer | 2008-11-09 00:16:54

Ironic how tolerance has been a founding principle of America, yet somewhere along the line, many either seem to have forgotten about it, or actively disdain it. The founding fathers would be not be pleased.

leisa, i have been gone from talk left for awhile. the quality of the online conversaton starting going downhill. i visited back once and saw how few people were commenting. yeah btd had the best diaries. it was a refuge for awhile but that is so over.

Comment by Maestro Biatch | 2008-11-09 22:13:06

BTD didn’t even understand what constituted a PUMA, and he would scream at anyone who tried to explain the term to him. He was the best TL had, but that isn’t saying much.

Jeralyn just quoted articles she found. When she included her own thoughts, she came across as the fool she is.

Her jealous obsession with Palin was so revolting I can’t imagine her blog will ever restore a loyal following of readers. People went there for the comment section until BTD pushed all the intelligent commenters out….they went off and got their own message board going…BTD and Jeralyn would never be able to keep up with the conversations there.

Jeralyn Merritt needs a paycheck.
It’s easier to be on the inside and pro-establishment then fight for what is right. As for Sally Quinn, what can be said, she and her good friend Teresa Heinz Kerry went to the same boarding school. Sally and Teresa are as elitist as you get as is her Husband John Kerry. Kerry called our military stupid and accused anyone who voted against Obama “racist”.
Screw you Kerry!

Comment by bert | 2008-11-09 07:55:25

The media won’t report the truth. Ever. They will go on and still try and make Barky look good. There will be a massive disconnect between what they report and actualconditions on the ground when things get really bad and the depressions is here. The people will see and feel that. That will then be the death of the MSM.

Comment by csuzeq | 2008-11-09 10:00:21

I wish I could believe that, but no one is going to go after the first black POTUS and Odrama knows that and was counting on that. The Country will look like shit, but the MSM will be reporting rainbows and sunshone and puppy dogs (which they already are). Each channel will have a daily Obama the greatest man who walked the face of the earth or is he really the messiah…more on that after the break with Oprah.

A COLB is not the long form. Obama’s sister Maya, who was born in Jakarta Indonesia was also issued a Hawaiian COLB, sect 7C was available for Foreign Born registered in Hawaii. This info is not available on the short form.
Don’t believe the Obama lies.

Also Obama admitted to Dual Citizenship.

From Obama own website:

Since Sen. Obama has neither renounced his U.S. citizenship nor sworn an oath of allegiance to Kenya, his Kenyan citizenship automatically expired on Aug. 4,1982.”

Question?
How could it expire, if he never had it?

Dual citizenship IS NOT natural born.

Although that should be automatic disqualification, it is his adoption and registration as an Indonesian that should be highlighted.

What passport did he use to travel to Pakastan with his Muslim friends in 1981?

Pakastan was closed to US travelers in 1981? What passport did he use.

So his short form means nothing!

Right upto the democratic convention I used to enjoy reading Jeralyn. She always supported hillary. She got hypnotized at the convention or something. When she got back, she changed over completely.

And then she started trashing palin all the time. a classic case of PDS. although Jeralyn always maintained that it was NOT personal attacks. yeah, right.

and any criticism of obamas policies got unbearable there. always a reprimand. as if saying that we are not to question the “One”.

BTD is definitely the best diarist at talkleft. But I stopped going there when the relentless trashing of palin went on and on. Now, talkleft is the zone of the obots with Jeralyn leading the pack.

Comment by Andy | 2008-11-09 00:34:50

benny:

You are exactly right; I noticed and went through exactly the same.

When she went to the convention, all she’d report back were her pictures with Arianna H. and the bars she went to.
But NOTHING of value about what was going on on the floor.
It was shameful.
I think she become part of the Obama campaign’s payroll at the Convention. No question.

Comment by Lyn | 2008-11-09 00:41:31

That’s when I left, she was so proud of her blogger creds, but never went to any convention stuff, just hung around the CNN place and with other Bloggers more impressed with themselves than anything going on at the convention.
BUT she totaly went over the edge when Palin was picked, she made me ill.

Comment by bemused | 2008-11-09 08:55:33

I think she started to crack before then. She was anti the misogyny and quick to get on it, then she started on the “Can I support the VP pick” when it was still unclear who the nominee would be. But she was always in the “we will support a Democrat even if he has horns and a tail” camp. She got what she wanted.
And to get back to an earlier thought, women who bash other women so they can be the alpha female: in a wild canid pack, the alpha female is the only one with pups. She eats the others. Sometimes the beta female is allowed to have pups so the alpha pups can learn to bully them. These alpha females are competing for the alpha male. In politics that’s O. So the human alpha wannabes are attacking any threat to O.’s favors. It’s the only way the betas can move up.

Jeralyn Merritt has a serious case of Palin Derangement Syndrome. When the Palin selection was announced, she went crazy, writing posts one after another trashing her. Then suddenly, she writes that Palin is “so yesterday” and says she’s moving on to other things. A couple of hours later she’s back at it again, with her obsessive vicious attacks. A sure sign that she’s got a real problem and is seriously unhinged. Have to pity her clients if she has any that is..(she calls herself a lawyer !)

Comment by PumaFire | 2008-11-09 02:31:46

They fear her like no one on earth. I don’t know anyone who could have withstood the onslaught set against her. And yet she has come out of it almost unscathed. All these lies about her will fall by the wayside as each one is debunked.

If they truly believed she was stupid, she would pose no threat. But they know otherwise.

Palin will strike back. A barracuda circles and waits, sizing up its prey before ripping it to shreds. She believes in God and that makes her invincible.

“Soros is Obama’s principal patron,” said Richard Lawrence Poe, co-author with David Horowitz of “The Shadow Party,” a critical look at the network of left-wing tax-exempt groups the investor sponsors. The groups in turn doled out money to liberal candidates such as Obama.

The book’s subtitle is, “How George Soros, Hillary Clinton, and Sixties Radicals Seized Control of the Democratic Party.”

“He created Obama,” Poe told HUMAN EVENTS. “An Obama presidency will be a Soros presidency.”

What exactly is a “Jerayn” anyway? Somebody who needs a “special” name to make them special?

Just for the Jarayn’s information, thought he/she/it might enjoy a list of the birthplaces of our nation’s vice presidents. See if you see any small towns or rural states on the list.

Braintree, Massachusetts; Shadwell, Virginia; Newark, New Jersey; Ulster (now Orange) County, N.Y; Marblehead, Massachusetts; Fox Meadows (later Scarsdale), Westchester County, New York; Abbeville, South Carolina; Kinderhook, New York; Beargrass, Jefferson County, Kentucky; Richmond, Virginia; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Buffalo, New York; Sampson County, North Carolina; Lexington, Kentucky; Oxford County, Maine; Raleigh, North Carolina; New York City, New York; Farmington, New Hampshire; Malone, New York; Fairfield, Vermont; Fultonham, Ohio; Shoreham, Addison County, Vermont; Christian County, Kentucky; Long Branch, New Jersey; New York City, New York; Log cabin near Unionville Center, Ohio; Utica, New York; North Manchester, Indiana; Plymouth, Vermont; Marietta, Washington County, Ohio; Topeka, Kansas; Detroit, Red River County, Texas; Orient, Iowa; Lamar, Missouri; Graves County, Kentucky; Yorba Linda, California; Gillespie County, Texas; Wallace, South Dakota; Towson, Maryland; Omaha, Nebraska; Bar Harbor, Maine; Ceylon, Minnesota; Milton, Massachusetts; Indianapolis, Indiana; Washington, D.C.; Lincoln, Nebraska

Comment by JozefAL | 2008-11-09 02:18:16

Athena, I think you misread the list. The list provides the birthplaces of VICE-presidents, not Presidents. I misread the list description also, and it was your comment that made me reread it.
There are plenty of other recent Presidential birthplaces that are missing (Reagan’s birthplace of Tampico, IL; Carter’s birthplace of Plains, GA; Clinton’s birthplace of Hope, AR).

Comment by IndieDogg | 2008-11-09 02:26:22

Correct you are. Of course, there are a lot of small towns on the Presidential list, too. The VP list was just more fun since I didn’t know a lot of them and Jer-A-Lyn was talking about Palin so I went with VP but the principle applies to the Prez as well.

I was watching Barry’s first press conference Friday and it was annoying and “unbearable” the amount of stuttering uh’s and um’s I was hearing from this so-called great orator.

It was so annoying I started counting them and came up with 127 uh’s and um’s. Most of them are in the last 10 minutes of Q & A with the reporters.

C’mon Saturday Night Live this skit writes itself.
Give Barry some of what you gave Sarah!

Also, I found someone else put together this sound clip of Barry’s unbearable ear-fucking.

As queasy as the DC elite are over the Clintons and Palins, you have to wonder how they’re ultimately going to respond to the ill-bred Chicago mobsters and molls. Bobo and Momo are not exactly society scions, and if Hillary or Sarah dressed the way SHE does the derision would never stop! Michelle brags of wearing low-cost dresses from cut-rate department stores, and that’s just wonderful! If the other two women were even SUSPECTED of that, they’d be called clueless rubes. And I’m just waiting for MO to have one of her hate-whitey moments in the middle of some swanky function! One thing I would like to say about that web-site, and Jeralyn.

People can be bought, I believe that she was.

She proved to me during the primaries, that Barack and his people cheated.

When he got the nomination, it was like a ’switch’ was switched. Then it was all Barack, and no one else.

Then I noticed on her blog, a Thank You from the Obama Team. That’s when I put 2 and 2 together. Just wondering how much she was paid.

“Speaking for me only….”

Comment by Mary | 2008-11-09 11:12:15

I noticed the Obama thank you, too, Judy R.

It was right after the convention, with Jeralynn bragging like a junior high school girl about Arianna and the free massages and facials, and all the “cool” bars Jeralynn spent her time in, rather than the actual convention issues.

She went downhill from there.

I’m not sure if Jeralynn realizes how low she has fallen, or that the only reason people come to the site is to read BTD’s posts. I think she’s still a little delusional about how “important” she is, given her alliances with Arianna.

But Talk Left is nothing like what it used to be.

I don’t think Jeralynn’s reputation will ever recover. If BTD ever leaves and starts his own blog, she’s completely toast.

I just don’t think she realizes it yet.

Sad, really.

Many Dems just want to win and are willing to give up their principles and even their common sense to do so and support a candidate that is a good campaigner but has no other skills. I understand exactly what JLs mindset is, because many people in my family have the same mindset and are now ecstatic that a Democrat is in office. During the election cycle they’ve continued to overlook all his flaws and made excuses for him. For some it’ll fade quickly and for others it will never fade – there are lots of far left kooks that defend Chavez, Castro, Hamas, etc and think we’re the bad guys, all evidence to the contrary.

the parallels with the blind republican/media support of bush are uncanny, aren’t they? i’m afraid that disaster will be the result this time, as it was with bush. when the disaster becomes apparent, every one will deny that they ever supported obama.

Why is TalkLeft still on the blogroll of PUMA sites like The Confluence and obviously anti-Obama sites like No Quarter? I haven’t been to TalkLeft in months and don’t plan to ever go back again.

You know, what this article reminds me of is that i have to thank God that i could cast my vote for people of the caliber of McCain & Palin. Whats better, is that i hope to have that opportunity at least one more time in my lifetime! :-)

Palin’s a threat to them.

It’s the only reason why they can’t help but talk about her. Remember guys. These aren’t grown adults. These are kindergartners. If you like someone you beat them up.

I suppose Odrama will be stepping up that terror attack a little since in his press conference he acknowledged that he still had a way to go with some of us (yes, Odrama, a long way to go-you can go to hell and I still won’t like your ass). He’ll probably try to recreate how we all united behind shrub after 9/11. I was one of those. I actually had words of praise for Shrubbery and he blew it. This time for Odrama the obomber, no lining up behind him. I will not be following that stench.

My prediction to a friend was that the attack would hit Washington DC so that the new capital can be built in Chicago.

Yes. Jeralynn has BECOME Sally Quinn.

Small-minded, snarky, irrelevant.

Comment by JoeCHI | 2008-11-09 11:07:44

DC is the only place where a known adulteress like Quinn thinks it perfectly OK to criticize someone else for adultery, as well as be given a column at WaPo entitled “On Faith”!

Blech!

Thank you, JoeCHI!!!

You beat me to it.

I was living in D.C. when that happened.

The woman now is still relatively in her ‘prime’.

She’s bitter and it shows…..
