Just a thought: Have any of the rest of you gotten so that when Fox News reports on Casey Anthony*, you’re anxious to hear the latest? I’m laughing out loud. No, it’s a fleeting thing, honestly! I assure you! But it’s kind of a relief after all those endless days of polls and analyses and speeches.

Giving him his due, Charlie Rose’s show last night (damn, the video isn’t up yet!) is very interesting — David Remnick, the editor of The New Yorker, has particularly insightful remarks. Michael Beschloss, the presidential historian, is also on, and I always get the giggles when I see him because I recall how the great Yale Shakespearean scholar Harold Bloom verbally condemned Beschloss and his books to the ash heap of history, as only the acerbic Professor Bloom can.

Charlie’s show last night includes a segment aired in June 2008 with the three Emanuel brothers. You’ve probably heard the remark that his mother said that Rahm is the least successful of her three sons, one being a renowned physician and the other being such a great Hollywood agent that HBO’s “Entourage” character Ari was inspired by the real Ari Emanuel. Perhaps NOW Rahm’s mom will grant Rahm equal status! I write that with affection, all the politics aside. Ah! I found the video of the three brothers last June, in full. Now, POLITICS ASIDE, this should be a fascinating show to listen to (Charlie’s videos rarely require that one also watch, so you can browse our blog and the Web while listening) + I found the YouTube snippet of the show:

06/16/2008
Rahm Emanuel, Ezekiel Emanuel, Ari Emanuel
A discussion about healthcare with Ezekiel, Ari, and Rahm Emanuel

In fact, I INSIST that you watch this entire show because Ezekiel Emanuel, M.D. has written what the famed economist Larry Summers (now an Obama economic adviser) calls the most important book on health care — and his ideas may well contribute substantively to the new health care systems for this nation! (I SO HOPE that that plan will be called the Clinton Plan, since it must be HILLARY CLINTON who introduces and succeeds in getting a health care plan for ALL Americans! She deserves nothing less.)

That was the more positive, interesting and forward-looking side of politics at present. Then there’s this: Someone sent me this comment that was posted at Atlas Shrugs. Okay, I’m scratching my head. We get this kind of sociopathic and sometimes psychopathic behavior here too. What happened in four years to change “Democrats” (I use the term advisedly) from civilized people into monstrous thugs?

In 2004, which I recall vividly, we sort of glared at the Kerry supporters at the county convention, and they sort of glared at us, but that was it! In the end — it took a while — we joined in supporting Kerry because at least he had SOME qualifications. When Kerry lost, we were grief-stricken, but soldiered on. Together. But now? Whatever happened to far too many of you?

You people are pathetic!

Your racist fear mongering will not go unchallenged! Soon we will shut down your hate spewing web sites. We will confiscate your firearms. In prison, you will get an education on the error of your ways. We will take your children and raise them as our own and instill in them the values of social justice. We will have a new American Republic of justice and order for all!

You time is almost up! Prepare for the dung heap of history!

Of note, Atlas Shrugs — whose writers would not probably want much to do with me because I’m too liberal for their tastes, but who cares — has a couple articles worth perusing, described below:

SCOTUS SOUTER TELLS OBAMA TO PRODUCE BIRTH CERTIFICATE DECEMBER 1 UPDATED: /OR NOT

– I hope this is entirely true and thoroughly fact-checked. We haven’t taken the considerable days (not hours) it would require to even begin to study this, and we’d need the expertise of many attorneys. So, all i hope is that this story has merit.

PERHAPS IT WAS AHMAD NIHAD’S APARTMENT….

Snippet:

How gruesome. Terrible. Imagine they planning that goes into such a thing. Planning by what was arguably the most modern, cultured state in Europe. So close at our backs, the damaged still walk among us with vacant eyes.

Report: Plans for Auschwitz found in Berlin apartment

Those so odious, and sociopathic and psychopathic would find much in common with some people in the U.S. who despise and wish to destroy all who disagree with them: the THUGS who are so mentally ill that, in the midst of a historic victory, they cannot stop hating for one second.

:::::::

* Footnote: Casey Anthony is charged with first-degree murder, based on state-of-the-art forensics, although the body of her three-year-old Kaylee hasn’t been found yet. (I am adding this because one of our writers, who doesn’t watch cable news, didn’t know who Casey Anthony is, and asked me to explain.)

This is one of those cases that has seized the attention of all the cable news networks. This is, and it makes me so upset, yet another instance in which a missing WHITE child or woman gets all the attention and resources of cable news outlets, whereas a missing BLACK or BROWN child rarely gets any attention. And it shames CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News that they go overboard on missing WHITE children or women — particularly if they’re pretty — but so rarely focus on children or women who are not white.

It must outrage people of color everywhere. And they deserve to be outraged.

I have been reading old newspaper archives from 2002 of Willard Mitt Romney’s “hostile take over” of the Massachusetts Governorship from Gov. Jane Swift. OMG… it is the EXACT same play book being used right now against Gov. Palin. Word for Word. Tactic for Tactic. Leaks from unnamed sources, sexism including critiques of her physical appearance, make-up and clothes, questions on her ability to govern and mother at the same time including “will you breastfeed in the Governor’s office?”, and ethical investigations. Next in the line up is drying up any and all political donations and fundraising ability and putting immense pressure on her from the GOP hierarchy. Watch out Sarah- Mitt’s a piece of sh!t. Of course, he could not accomplish it without traitors in the MSM. Those self loathing women news commentators. Check out this quote from Margaret Carlson:”Her ineptitude transcends gender. As a working mother, I am not going to defend her as a working mother”

Comment by Tony S | 2008-11-08 15:15:50

I Live in Mass. Jane Swift was a pretty awful govenor, and the Republican party was terrified of having her stand for reelection. The way I recall it, they begged Romney to run, after he came off the Olympics (unless he engineered it all from the background, I don’t know)

Comment by Tuppence411 | 2008-11-08 19:00:36

Ahhh Tony… sorry no….after her excellent handling of 9/11, Jane had won over most of her critics. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Swift It wasn’t until Mitt realized he wanted her job after the Winter Olypics ended, did the real campaign against her from inside the Republican party really start. It wasn’t until the misogyny campaign was well underway did her poll numbers tank. Geeze’um- the Bush Whitehouse was calling her with job offers if she stepped aside for Mitt.

Comment by SJ | 2008-11-08 15:48:45

They have been over the dark side of a long time, when they could be posting nonsense about Hillary 2102, no matter how you tried to tell them its not going to happen and then they get annoyed and say Hillary is doing what she has to do, making excuses for her actions.

My gut feeling was telling me some of them were not dependable but I wanted to still give them the benefit of the doubt, now the exit polls are telling the true story.

Even now some are still making excuses for Hillary, and still waiting to see where Obama put’s her, its kind of sad because I honestly felt Hillary would of stood a better chance with McCain for a high position than she ever does with Obama in charge.

Comment by beachnan | 2008-11-08 16:32:47

That’s right SJ-you must be one of those “let’s blame Hillary for everything”, kind of people. There are a lot of us, who still support Hillary in whatever capacity she wants to serve. Once BO bombs, I hope she will run again.

Comment by ritamary | 2008-11-08 17:02:36

Why do you assume Hillary would want a position from Obama or McCain? She is a United States Senator, a position she won in her own right.

And I am sick of the Hillary-bashing going on here. She owes her position to the Democratic Party. If they choose to run someone against her in the Democratic primary when she is up for re-election, what would you suggest she do then?

Comment by Lyn | 2008-11-08 20:07:13

GThe number showed MANY Dems voted for Mccain, otherwise Obama should have won every state since so many more Dems voted than Republicans, IF the Republicans voted in their usual numbers, enough PUMAs voted to make a difference

Lawrence Summers Flashback: Africa Is ‘Under-Polluted’

http://news.yahoo.com/s/thenation/20081106/cm_thenation/45381035

The memo:

http://www.whirledbank.org/ourwords/summers.html

After the memo became public in February 1992, Brazil’s then-Secretary of the Environment Jose Lutzenburger wrote back to Summers: “Your reasoning is perfectly logical but totally insane… Your thoughts [provide] a concrete example of the unbelievable alienation, reductionist thinking, social ruthlessness and the arrogant ignorance of many conventional ‘economists’ concerning the nature of the world we live in… If the World Bank keeps you as vice president it will lose all credibility. To me it would confirm what I often said… the best thing that could happen would be for the Bank to disappear.” Sadly, Mr. Lutzenburger was fired shortly after writing this letter.

What I now state might be controversial and may not be liked by some of you. Obamas presidency (although admired in some quarters) might end the chances of any other non-white presidential candidate in the future.

I truly believe that obama will fail desperately. When I look at a political candidate, I always look at his/her previous political record. And looking at obamas record, I predict that either he’ll be like carter or he may end up being worse than bush. Both are disastrous in this day and age.

If obama fails, the chances of getting another non-white candidate into the highest political office is impossible. something like whats happeneing to women right now.

Disclosure: I’m not a caucasian.

Comment by cookiegramma | 2008-11-08 15:29:26

You may be right, but as a white person I hope you are not. I do however hope that in the future people pay more attention to actual experience. there are a good number of non-white people in national service even now and in both parties. The republicans have Micheal Steele and I forget any names of democrats. I am angry at them for promoting someone who could star as 007. There is so little available to learn about him that one cannot judge fairly.
I do fear that the olde boys club is closing ranks to keep women out of high office, but many of the women in position to help change that have shown no interest in actually working for that. Can you imagine Pelosi ever wanting some female more powerful than herself? The problem is that she is so far out there many of the other women will not support her.

Comment by Annie | 2008-11-08 15:34:41

benny, I think your point is right on. It’s like any other proverbial over night sensation, who, because of taking no time to grown into and command the spotlight, is overwhelmed by adulation and his own press.

You can already see that he is a small frog in a very large pond. Had he stayed in the Senate and put achievement under his feet, he wouldn’t have needed a teleprompter; he’d have owned the information through experience. A full term in the Senate might have been enough if he had been willing to work hard but that’s never been his strong suite.

All of those people at Ebenezer Baptist, jumping up and down in hysterics fail to admit that Dr. King would have advised him differently than the people with BLT and TUCC. He might well have backed him but he would have been mentored with solid credentials to pave the way for the future.

I told someone yesterday that Obama looked like “death warmed over,” something my mom used to say.

That man needs some sleep and some down time — badly.

I’m incapable of hating him so much that I like seeing him like that.

He is surely finding out that he is in WAY over his head, and the enormity of it all must be crushing to him.

Well, we tried and tried to warn the American people that he wasn’t ready to assume such a mind-boggling job.

His ego told him he could do it. The adoration of the crowds puffed up his ego even further.

But now the reality has hit him square on.

He’ll desperately need take-charge people like Rahm Emanuel, who will surely in fact be our REAL president. Hate him or love him, at least Emanuel has a “clue” about the enormity of the job of the president.

And thank god that Emanuel comes from such an erudite, accomplished family who HONOR hard work. Obama’s family did NOT HONOR hard work. He’s never held a real job.

Well, now he’s got a real job for the first time in his life. Lord help us all, and president-unelected Rahm Emanuel.

Comment by Grail Guardian | 2008-11-08 15:04:02

Sometimes I think there is more than one Barack Obama.

He looks different at times. The current one looks sick. As in terminal or very ill.

Is his weight loss medical or is it from what seems like obsessive gym workouts? Can men have anorexia? What illness cause weight loss? It appears that his memory is affected as well. Both his parents died about about the same age as he is now. His mom died of cancer. His granny died of cancer? It appears he is heavily at risk for it too. That wart/mole by his nose seems to have enlarged.

Why did he only show a one page medical evaluation and nothing on his mental condition?

Well guess Arnold can help get him pumped up,his skinny lil ole arms and legs. ;)

But think about his looks….. Oh one more thing the Arabs call him “the face” Imagine that and imagine why….

Struggle to do good, Barack, struggle to do good, no matter the urge, struggle to do good…

Nothing like a guy who will send a hot, steaming turd to your office if you piss him off.” He’s NUTS. He will make it impossible to deal with the other side. He took out a dinner knife and threatened people at the dinner table. His father set off bombs on behalf of Israel. Guess OVomit is getting those terrorist types in the WH after all. Thrilled to reward the azzhole who was the head of Freddie with the keys to the WH. Rahm represents Chicago corruption at its finest, and no chance of ever being bi-partisan, ever.

PS he was last holdout to agree to Fraudbama being nominee. He gets points for THAT!

The Hitler youth who voted for him who now think they can lay on the couch all day playing video games, take a break and head to the mailbox for their welfare checks? Ughhh….This sux…

Phoenix-based Honeywell Aerospace plans to move 700 manufacturing jobs from Phoenix to Mexico and the Czech Republic.

Employees were notified Thursday of the cuts, which will begin in the second quarter of 2009 and continue for three years. Most of the job cuts are expected in the first year.

Workers who asked not to be identified said the news caught employees completely off-guard.

The affected jobs are at Honeywell’s 34th Street facility at Sky Harbor International Airport, where the company and its predecessors Allied Signal and Garrett have built jet engines for almost 60 years.

The jobs are being moved to existing Honeywell factories in Chihuahua, Mexico, and Olomouc in the Czech Republic in order to make the company more “globally competitive,” company spokesman Bill Reavis said.

Reavis said the move only affects manufacturing jobs and not engineers, who will remain in Phoenix. He added the company has no plans to close the 34th Street facility and will continue to employ about 2,000 people there after the manufacturing jobs are moved out.

Affected workers will be offered severance and invited to apply for other positions at other Honeywell facilities.

In February, Honeywell moved 420 aerospace jobs overseas In June, more jobs were lost when it sold its Phoenix-based hardware-distribution business.

Reavis said the company is hopeful that with retirements, voluntary severance and job transfers, Honeywell will wind up laying off fewer than 100 people.

The layoff announcement followed a Wednesday visit by Dave Cote, chairman and CEO of Honeywell International Inc., the $37 billion-a-year New Jersey parent of Honeywell Aerospace.

Last month, Honeywell announced that its fourth-quarter profit would be less than expected, and its stock price has suffered.

Honeywell shares closed down $2.75, or 9 percent, Thursday and have dropped 55 percent this year. Investors are worried that the economy could hurt its military and commercial-aircraft businesses.

The announcement came two days after Barack Obama, who has promised to take a hard line with companies that move manufacturing jobs overseas, was elected the 44th U.S. president.

Honeywell Aerospace is one of the Valley’s largest employers, with about 10,000 people working at facilities around the Phoenix area.

Jihadi Leaders Says Obama’s Win A Victory For ‘Radical Islamic Groups’

Confirming what we, and others, said quite often before the election, a Jihadi leader, Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, leader of the Islamic State of Iraq, in a 25 minute taped speech, posted to the Al Hesbah website, says that Barack Obama’s election win, was a “victory” for radical Islamic groups.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — The leader of a jihadi group in Iraq argued Friday that the election of Barack Obama as president represented a victory for radical Islamic groups that had battled American forces since the invasion of Iraq.

The statement, which experts said was part of the psychological duel with the United States, was included in a 25-minute audiotaped speech by Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, leader of the Islamic State of Iraq, an umbrella organization that claims ties to Al Qaeda. Mr. Baghdadi’s statement was posted on a password-protected Web site called Al Hesbah, used to disseminate information to Islamic radicals.

In his address, Mr. Baghdadi also said that the election of Mr. Obama — and the rejection of the Republican candidate, Senator John McCain — was a victory for his movement, a claim that has already begun to resonate among the radical faithful.

It bears noting that al-Baghdadi’s group claims ties to al-Qaeda as well as the Al Hesbah website being one of the remaining online forums “for those aligned with Al Qaeda.”

That radical leader is not the only one claiming they share Obama’s victory.

Some even pointed to Mr. Obama’s election as a lesson to the rest of the region. In Kuwait, Sheik Hamed al-Ali, an Islamic scholar known for his support of jihadi fighters, posted a message titled “We Want Change!” on his Web site.

Radical Jihadi extremists everywhere are celebrating Barack Obama’s win, even claiming credit for it to a point:

But there was also a growing chorus of caution, as commentators began to try to tamp down expectations of any change in American policies in the region. And other commentators echoed Mr. Baghdadi’s view that the election was a victory for the insurgents in Iraq, the Taliban in Afghanistan, Hamas in the Gaza Strip and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

“It would be no exaggeration to say that we Arabs and Muslims were the main unseen voters who decided the outcome of these elections,” wrote Abdelbari Atwan in Wednesday’s issue of the London-based pan-Arab daily newspaper Al Quds Al Arabi.

Add to that the fact that Hamas is also hailing Obama’s election win as a victory:

Hamas praises Obama win as ‘historic victory for world’
Terrorists drafting letter of congrats to be sent directly to president-elect

Yousef, speaking by cell phone from Gaza, said Hamas is drafting a letter of congratulation to be sent tomorrow directly to Obama. He said the current draft of the letter praises the president-elect as “another John F. Kennedy, or great Roosevelt.”

“We want to be one of the first to congratulate him,” Yousef said.

I wondered why he was showing up so much with the drilling for oil energy solution. Might be worth thinking about. I think I could vote for Gingrich/Palin. I might prefer the ticket being the other way around though.

Comment by AnnieCollier | 2008-11-08 15:54:26

I could support the ticket. Will have to see what’s happened in four years as to who should be at the top of the ticket. Gingrich was apparently the first Sarah promoter. I certainly don’t think the msm would get away with their crap if Newt was running. First, he’d have to put together a laser focused organization to combat the bots.

Comment by sowsear | 2008-11-08 16:04:00

Gingrich is no one that any woman should want in office, and he would never run 2nd to Palin. If I have any money left by then, I’d bet on it.

Comment by Bill Dupray | 2008-11-08 16:06:51

So that’s one yes, one no, and one maybe. Not exactly a consensus.

Comment by oowawa | 2008-11-08 17:59:38

Count another big NO to Newt, that politically brilliant but totally amoral creature that crawled out from under a rock. I don’t want dear Sarah anywhere near him.

I like Gingrich.

He really understands all the problems going on in the world. In fact, I dont know of another politician who has so clearly articulated just how much in peril we are.

I’ve been following his public speeches over the past 4 years and no one comes close to him in understanding what we’re facing.

The problem is, unfortunately, people will never forgive him for his recklessness in the 90s.

I forgave Clinton for the sins I perceived her as ahving done. I wish people would do so with Newt and give him an ear adn another chance.

Comment by shadow | 2008-11-08 18:45:19

I like Newt, too. He’s a smart man. I also like Bobby Jindal.

I’m a republican, and count me as a HELL NO on Gingrich.

My Dad worked with him when he was Speaker, and count my Dad as another HELL NO on Gingrich.

And he said he thinks creationism/intelligent design should be taught along side evolution in public school classrooms, so count the whole LGF crowd as HELL NO as well.

Comment by KFaye | 2008-11-08 17:21:43

I’m not surprised Gingrich might try to use Sarah Palin to launch a political comeback, but . . .
Goodness, I hope Sarah doesn’t hang her future playing second fiddle to Gingrich.

Palin-Jindal or Jindal-Palin is the future for Republicans.

Comment by ritamary | 2008-11-08 17:31:21

I would not support Gingrich. But can’t we just relax a little bit before we get worked up about 2012?

Comment by fluffy bunny | 2008-11-08 16:21:55

And since Gingrich was screwing his secretary while leading the impeachment fight against Bill Clinton, and said secretary is now Gingrich’s 3rd wife, you probably won’t find much support for him among Hillary voters.

Comment by AnnieCollier | 2008-11-08 17:38:55

Yeah, my memory is on hold…I forgot Newt’s history. I was so happy that he came out so strongly for Sarah that I happily sailed by the past.

Palin/Jindal would be interesting. I don’t think she would be 2nd string after this.

That would be interesting. Newt is one of the smartest people on the planet, though his loathsome treatment of the Clintons would be very difficult to overcome. However, he has a new book out and probably has been sitting this all out waiting for the rudderless Republican party to beg him to run for office. But that brings us back to white-haired old man, and I am not sure the electorate will go that way for some time to come.

OBAMA’S NATION HAS BEGUN JOIN THE RESISTANCE
Welcome to Obama’s nation...

The “transformational” figure who will “change the world” is now in charge, and he’s on a mission. Emboldened by an overwhelming electoral victory and a near-supermajority in Congress, President-elect

Obama and his allies are preparing to implement his liberal, “post-American” agenda. Simply put, what President-elect Obama and the Pelosi-Reid Congress have in store has the potential to rapidly move America to the socialist Left.

1 million citizens resisting…
Who can stop the Obama agenda? Only an unprecedented idea-based Resistance from freedom-loving citizens can prevent the full implementation of Obama’s march to the Left. That’s why Grassfire.org is seeking to identify and mobilize grassroots citizens who will Join The Resistance— an alliance of patriotic, resilient and determined conservatives who will not forsake their principles. Our goal? One million citizens joining together by Inauguration Day, January 20, 2009.

The Resistance States:
As an American citizen, while I will show respect to President-elect Obama, I oppose the far-Left and socialistic elements that comprise the centerpiece of his agenda. I recognize that it will take a patriotic and resilient Citizen Resistance to block implementation of this agenda and I join with others who oppose these threats to our liberties.

I will NEVER let the liberal pieces of crap deny my Freedom to Vote, Freedom of Speech, etc. I am having a hard time not EXPLODING over OVomit’s BS “required community service” nonsense. I think it is criminal for millionaires and billionaires to place an abysmally unqualified, abysmally unprepared man in the Presidency.

Not only unfair to the American people, but to that individual himself, the American Presidency is unimaginably burdensome, psychologically terrifying.

How does he cope, to whom does he talk, how can he comes to terms with the things he will see, and learn? It’s almost like psychological torture, really, when you think of the burden of knowledge and responsibility coupled with the lack of abilty and skill needed to integrate said responsibilty and knowledge into a semblance of sanity — one can only feel sadness.

A guy like Clinton has brains, and empathy, the ability to understand, trying to make sense of the strange and the tragic, the unimaginable, Bush, at the very least, was brought up around the White House and the CIA — but Obama?

Shame on them, really, shame on guys like Soros, and Geffen.

They couldn’t find someone better qualified, stronger, upon whom to project, vicariously?

Comment by fluffy bunny | 2008-11-08 16:28:06

They want somebody they can control. The weaker the better.

Why do you think they abandoned Hillary? I’m a republican, but as soon as Soros (moveon.org) and the rest abandoned her, I became a supporter. I knew suddenly that she would be a strong, or at least good, president.

Comment by Betty Lou | 2008-11-08 19:19:31

The thing is, they can’t control him, he doesn’t really have THAT much power, it is shared, and every intelligence agency, and the military is involved, too.

Every decision he makes will have ramifications the likes Soros and Geffen can’t even begin to comprehend, they simply do not understand the complexity of the office, the abilty to challenge authority by the career people, either with their voices, or their boots.

As it should be, healthy dissent is a sign of a strong organization. (Gates said that, or something like it, in regard to the AirForce, ie, they needed repair, after the nuke thing…)

And I think it was Obama from day one, I was thinking they never had any intention of supporting Clinton, Obama was their guy since the 2004 convention, if not earlier, bloggers were lined up, political support lined up in exchange for money, and position, they made him a Senator with the express purpose of putting him in the Presidency. (Who? Maybe the Soros, the DNCers, the Rezkos, the Auchis, Geffens, the oil guys, maybe others, personally, I think all roads internationally lead to Chicago, stockyard to the world, indeed).

That they were angry she ran, I mean, or used it as a dramatic device, the faded Clinton v Obama, the up and coming African American Kennedyesque star, first AA President, (didnt the NY Times editor, Pat something, say as much), I swear his campaign came across as horrifically scripted, stilted, and awkward, very rote — Obama learned to pitch his voice four different ways, just so, (sometimes we mock it around here), and by god, he was qualified to run the US!

But who knows, it’s just conjecture, on my part…

And I believe in supporting the candidate who is best, to my knowledge, no matter the backroom deals — I went with Clinton, warts and all.

Obama’s crew are making the same mistakes Bush and Cheney did, I just have to wonder about these people, sometimes…

George Soros’ Liberal Agenda Will Carry Weight In Obama Presidency

by Rowan Scarborough
11/05/2008

No man has a larger stake in a president Barack Obama administration than ultra-liberal billionaire George Soros.

This decade, the Hungarian-born hedge fund investor has poured tens of millions of dollars into left-wing attack groups and Democratic campaigns. Soros’ grand plan is to destroy the Republican Party and conservative movement, while promoting the wish list of the political Left.

With Democratic victories Tuesday, Soros may be on the cusp of fulfilling his dreams of social reorder — funded by a fortune of $7 billion he amassed through rampant speculation on world currencies.

Soros has channeled his gains into such groups as Moveon.org and the Center for American Progress, not to mention the Democratic Party and its candidates. He may rightly have claimed any Democrat victory as his own this Election Day and expect President Obama to adopt his American vision.

“Soros is Obama’s principal patron,” said Richard Lawrence Poe, co-author with David Horowitz of “The Shadow Party,” a critical look at the network of left-wing tax-exempt groups the investor sponsors. The groups in turn doled out money to liberal candidates such as Obama.

The book’s subtitle is, “How George Soros, Hillary Clinton, and Sixties Radicals Seized Control of the Democratic Party.”

“He created Obama,” Poe told HUMAN EVENTS. “An Obama presidency will be a Soros presidency.”

Poe said federal election records show Soros jump-started Obama’s 2004 U.S. Senate campaign with $60,000 from himself and family members.

“These personal contributions are but a drop in the bucket compared to the unknown quantities of money Soros has channeled into the Obama campaign through his so-called Shadow Party,” the author said.

To understand the 78-year-old Soros’ world view, first look at his two obsessions: he dislikes President Bush intently, likening him to Hitler. And he dismisses the war on terror as a waste of time.

Then there is the press. Any one on the Left with lots of money who bankrolls liberal causes typically receives flattering coverage. Soros is no exception. He enjoys puff-ball treatment from the New York Times, Washington Post and their followers.

CNBC, for example, presents the talking-head Soros as a non-partisan investor, never telling viewers of his liberal crusade to destroy Republicans and how that might color his views.

His hatred of Bush and of the war against radical Islamic terrorists stand as the underpinnings for scores of leftist positions.

He funds his causes through his New York City-based Open Society Institute. Its web site is full of flowery prose about eliminating hunger, bringing social justice and encouraging diversity of opinion.

But beneath the propaganda is a financial grant system channeled to the hard left.

Click the link for “U.S. Programs” and this national security objective pops up: “Shifting the paradigm away from the ‘war on terror.’” In other words, terrorists are victims and the U.S. is the perpetrator and must be stopped. The web page portrays America as a racist society at its roots.

Other Soros demands:

– Legalize gay marriage and euthanasia, and make abortion more available. He funds groups that claim they are Catholics for choice.

– Legalize illegal drugs, or at least reduce the penalties. Soros believes crack cocaine dealers are victims because powder cocaine sellers receive shorter prisoner sentences. They are typically white, while crack users are black, he says.

– Give felons the right to vote and end the death penalty.

– New rights for illegal aliens.

– An end to U.S. global supremacy.

“George Soros has stated repeatedly and explicitly that he views the United States and its capitalist ideology as a threat to world peace,” said Poe. “A consistent pattern, both in his political giving and in his philanthropic endeavors is to press for policies whose only possible effect will be to bankrupt the United States and end the reign of the U.S. dollar as the world’s dominant exchange currency. Soros wishes to replace the U.S. dollar with a global currency, issued by a global bank.”

Soros told the Washington Post in 2003 that defeating Bush’s reelection “is the central focus of my life” and “a matter of life and death.”

“When I hear Bush say, ‘You’re either with us or against us,’ ” Soros said, “it reminds me of the Germans. It conjures up memories of Nazi slogans on the walls, Der Feind Hort mit [The enemy is listening]. My experiences under Nazi and Soviet rule have sensitized me.”

He reportedly gave $5 million to Moveon.org, which promptly ran video ads comparing Bush to Hitler. An image of a saluting Hitler gives way to Bush taking the oath of office. Get it?

Despite the Open Society Institute’s lofty mission statement, Soros likes this sort of bare-knuckle personal destruction.

After all, Bush is not the only person Moveon.org has savaged. It called Gen. David Petraeus a commander who is betraying his country. In 2004, Moveon.org attacked the evangelical beliefs of George Gallup Jr., son of Gallup’s founder, because the company produced a presidential poll it did not like.

On the war, Soros has written that “terrorism is an abstraction.”

In his book, “The Age of Fallibility: Consequences of the War on Terror,” he wrote, “The Bush administration and the Nazi and communist regimes all engaged in the politics of fear. Indeed, the Bush administration has been able to improve on the techniques used by the Nazi and Communist propaganda machines by drawing on the innovations of the advertising and marketing industries.”

When Mr. Soros comes to Washington next year, Democrats will be listening. If they don’t, Moveon.org has some videos ready.

“the Bush administration has been able to improve on the techniques used by the Nazi and Communist propaganda machines by drawing on the innovations of the advertising and marketing industries”

The irony of this is that Obama’s campaign has felt more like a fascist propaganda campaign than any other campaign I’ve seen in American history.

Now, as it was then, we seek those who speak truth to power, only to discover by doing so, we find both within our selves.

And it really should be said . Thank you.

No, a Newsweek reporter says.

I wrote a little on this silliness earlier.

UPDATE: It still amazes me how many people seem to be way too anxious to pin the blame on Romney, even though he and his senior staff are not in McCain’s inner circle. I feel like the primaries are still going on. If only.

Rush Limbaugh found a comedy gold mine on the Charlie Rose show when Tom Browkaw was on.. This is a transcript of Rush’s show. He starts off explaining Obama’s army of Saul Alinksy clones (to make this easier to read, When RUsh is reading a quote from someone, i made the quote be in bold):

RUSH: Snerdley was telling me during the top-of-the-hour break, “I can’t believe what I just learned. Obama had 1.3 million volunteers!” I said, “Snerdley, you’re behind the times. It’s not just 1.3 volunteers. It’s all of the Internet network that he put together.” Let me tell you what else is going to happen, all you people that think Obama is gonna govern from the center. To set this up, let me ask you if you remember Dingy Harry and Pelosi bending over and grabbing the ankles at every MoveOn.org meeting or at every Daily Kos convention or whatever. They bent over and grabbed the ankles for these left-wing extremist websites, these kook websites, ’cause they send a lot of money in. You’re going to have this Obama volunteer network and this Obama Internet network. ACORN and all these people, if they’re not already, they’re going to be in Washington or outside.

The organize community organizer, Saul Alinsky, has taken the White House.

Now, not literally ’cause he has assumed room temperature, but his disciples have taken over. I’m going to give you the details of this after the break, but first, here is what I promised: four sound bites of the Drive-Bys trying to figure out who this guy is. I think it’s amazing the CYA that’s starting to effervesce here in the Drive-By Media. Let me start out by sharing with you what Jennifer Loven, who’s part of the White House press corps who just hated Bush. I mean, she was just relentless in her pursuit of Bush and the press secretaries. “Great Expectations: Obama Will Have to Deliver,” is the headline. “Over and over, Barack Obama told voters if they stuck with him ‘we will change this country and change the world.’ They did, and now their expectations for him to deliver are firmly planted on his shoulders. Many supporters greeted his victory with euphoria,” and then, read down and read down and read down, and you get to this, from Jennifer Loven.

“Even after nearly two years in the spotlight, little is understood about the 47-year-old first-term senator’s approach to leadership. His resume: community organizer, eight years as state legislator, and less than four as U.S. senator. As a lawmaker, he has displayed a knack for working with Republicans on a handful of favorite issues.” That’s a lie. “But he has devoted most of his time in the Senate to running for president. …Personally, he’s a bit of an enigma, too. … One of the many revelers who spontaneously flocked to the White House after Obama’s win [was] waving signs like, ‘Why Wait? Evict Bush Now’ …” So here Jennifer Loven: He’s really an enigma. We don’t know who he is. We don’t know much about him. He didn’t do much. His resume is kind of thin.

I’m trying to get the rest of the quote to post. There’s a word that is triggering the filter

Where was this beforehand? Friday night… Wanna laugh? Friday night, Charlie Rose Show, Tom Brokaw and Charlie Rose.

ROSE: I don’t know what Barack Obama’s worldview is.

BROKAW: No, I don’t either.

ROSE: I don’t know how he really sees where China is.

BROKAW: We don’t know a lot about Barack Obama and the universe of his thinking about foreign policy.

ROSE: I don’t really know. And do we know anything about the people who are advising him?

BROKAW: You know that’s an interesting question.

ROSE: He is principally known through his autobiography and through very aspirational (sic) speeches, two of them.

BROKAW: I don’t know what books he’s read.

ROSE: What do we know about the heroes of Barack Obama?

BROKAW: There’s a lot about him we don’t know.

RUSH: That’s Tom Brokaw. Grab number three real quick, Mike. Grab sound bite number three. Tom Brokaw and Charlie Rose admitting they don’t know diddly-squat. All they had to do was assign a reporter! You had 18 months or two years to find out about the guy, just assign a reporter, Tom! You work at NBC News. Here’s Brokaw, by the way, this is this morning on Scarborough’s show. Mika Brzezinski says, “Potentially, this is a great opportunity for Republicans, ’cause that perception of fear versus hope I think in some ways is unfair, and there may be some time for some, I don’t know, true Republicanism and new stars to be born.”

BROKAW: Everybody is going to have to examine the instruments, if you will, of polarization. Talk radio is a piece of that. The — it — it — it’s in the interests of — of some people out there to try to keep this going and it’s in their narrow self-interest (crosstalk).

SCARBOROUGH: You — you — you talk about radio, which really was an instrument of the nineties. I must say: in this century, the Internet is so hateful.

(This is vince talking again, not Rush transcript)

This is audio of Rush playing the Charlie Rose clip

It’s really funny listening to Charlie and Tom tell each other how much they don’t know about Obama… the tone of their voice is of such bewilderedness I just crack up listening to it.

There’s one last bit of the transcript that I’m trying to post.

Mr. Johnson, do you know of this person’s work?

Mr. Obama should be wary of the intelligence provided to him by the CIA. He will be walking blindly into the foreign policy crises he will certainly face during the next four years, and history suggests the CIA’s poor performance will be the greatest threat to his presidency.

I haven’t read your link yet.. which I probably should do before responding.. but i’ll respond anyway :)

I dont think Obama has anything to fear from the CIA.

From what I understand, the long-time staff at the CIA opposed virtually everything Bush tried to do.. that they were interested in maintaining previous Democratic type policies/paradigms/worldviews… if that’s the case, then Obama should have no issues.

Now i’ll read the link and see how i did.

ok i read the piece. My initial impression of your comment was that the CIA might try to sabotage Obama… but after reading it, the article is about how the CIA sucks.

I agree with the author. But it’s not the CIA’s fault. It’s the fault of Congress and those elements of our society that dont believe in defending the country and those who live in fantasy worlds that think the US’s defense can be achieved wihtout having to get our hands dirty in very nasty stuff that the public really shouldn’t ever find out about.

Obama would one of those people.

I think he has far more to fear from his Minister of Silly Signs (MOSS).

Let’s see, first there was the faux presidential seal (remember, before the primaries were over?) and now this, “the Office of President Elect.”

What next?

I can hardly wait!

Perhaps his staff can just carry around one of those giant foam fingers, and every time a difficult, or potentially embarrassing question is asked, a press aide can come out swinging, no more subtlety about it.

So I did some research on Philip Berg’s efforts to get the US Supreme Court to hear a case to determine if Obama is qualified to be POTUS. Berg asked for injunction to hold off on having the election until the case was heard, Justice Souter denied the injunction. Obama has until Dec. 1 to respond to the case filed by Berg, but no demand per se has been made for him to produce his birth certificate.

As a lawyer, I find it significant that the Court is involved at all. Zillions of cases head to the US Supreme Court every year, and only a tiny amount get heard. So I’m glad the Court is at least interested.

But to have a case heard, a plaintiff must prove legal standing to bring the case. This will be tricky for Berg.

However, as we learned in the 2000 election, the Court can pretty much do whatever they want. The Court’s 2000 decision selecting Bush was legally bogus, had not a single leg to stand on. It was such a bad decision – going against all existing precedent – that it was pretty much considered an embarrassment by many of us in the legal profession.

So if the Court in 2008 wants to rule that Berg has standing to bring the case against Obama, they will find a way to do it.

Comment by VinceP1974 | 2008-11-08 21:49:45

What Obama has to respond to is the petition for a writ of Certiorari.. Obama will respond to the Court as to why Obama thinks the Court should not grant the writ.

He doest have to answer the substance of the charge.
