You are trying to silence dissent through intimidation. I am stunned that “liberal” Democrats are behaving like this. They cried out for the right to dissent when they were the minority — now that they’re a majority, they are thuggish brutes.

Will she be the ONE person punished in Ohio? I’m gonna bet that they’ll wait until we’re not focussed on it and transfer her to another job. Probably with a pay raise for the stress they put her through. Let’s keep watching and putting pressure on them.
Now if we could just get them to go after the people who never lived in Ohio and voted, or the people who registered in more than one state, or the people who went back multiple times to vote under different names.
I’m surprised, with all the dead who vote that there aren’t more politicians pandering to them. Lately I’ve been wondering if Obama’s grandma went ahead and voted for him anyway.
I just sent an email to Gov. Strickland’s office. We’ll see if he does anything. I live in Ohio and am so disgusted with the fraud and misuse of power here. I think you might be right, Heather, since she was suspended WITH PAY, and she earns upwards of $150,000. I wish some intrepid Ohioan woule do a background check on her and reveal ALL the dirt on this pig. I personally won’t be voting Democratic until all these thugs and cheaters have been cleared out.

I predict that the Democrats in state offices will get booted out of office in 2010. And they just got back into state offices three years ago after soundly being defeated by Republicans at the polls for years. Easy come. Easy go.
I think former Ohio Congresman and frequent FOX News contributor, John Kasich will run for Governor. He could easily win as he is wildly popular here. He had a large area in northwest Columbus and Westerville when Congressman and always did well. No one could touch him in that district. Senator Voinivich will run for reelection and will most likely win as he too is popular. Ohio will stay a Republican state even if it went for a Democrat this year.
Obama was an “International Student” at Columbia….he applied and registered as a Kenyan citizen.

Obama’s Kenyan citizenship has been admitted on Obama’s own site.
Applying to an elite US college as a Kenyan Citizen gives you a much better chance of admission than if you apply as a US citizen. Obama has not disputed that he applied and attended Columbia and Occidental as a foreign student. By the time he went to Harvard, he was no longer a Kenyan citizen.
I have seen speculation that he attended as a foreign student, but as far as I know, no one has ever documented this. It is as valid a reason as any for him to withhold his school records. But do you have a link?

I find that BEYOND odd that no one has come forward from Columbia to say, yes – I knew him when. Just not happening. Tell me that’s not just plain weird. In normal circumstance, there would be a few grandstanders saying, “Oh yeah – he and I were friends in college.” “He was one of my buddies.” From everything I’ve researched – isn’t happening.

If I were the governor, I’d demote this woman fast. She showed incredible lack of good judgment. The idea, too, that she thought nobody would find out indicates some type of real thinking problem.
She’s absolutely not ready for that position.
She should be moved to the justice department in that State and allow her to prosecute those type of crimes, with a higher salary.
She also needs to be given the directorship of a not-for-profit association and she should get to go on TV and promote a reform agenda for directors of government agencies. As director she should have full control of the budget of her association.
She should write a book about it and we all should buy a copy.
I say she’s absolutely ready to reform directors of State offices. Just like Obama is ready to rule and write rules. He ran his campaign with little or no rules. Ready to rule.

Columbus- The high-ranking state official already under investigation for authorizing a personal records check on “Joe the Plumber” is now in troubled waters for what appears to be political fund raising on state time.
Gov. Ted Strickland placed Ohio Job & Family Services direc- tor Helen Jones- Kelley on paid leave late Friday for apparently vi olating state poli cies by using her state computer and e-mail ac count to help raise money and organize events for President-elect Barack Obama’s campaign.
Jones-Kelley, one of the Democratic governor’s Cabinet leaders, earns $141,980 a year.
In e-mails released Friday, Jones-Kelley supplied Obama campaign staffers with names of Ohioans to invite to fund-raisers and solicit for campaign donations.
“Attached are more names of people who would be willing and able to make appropriate contributions for Friday,” she wrote on July 8 to Michael O’Neil of the Obama campaign. “I will work on this more before this evening, since these are names that will be of benefit over time even if Friday is not a possibility.”
In an e-mail to Jones-Kelley the next day, O’Neil thanked her for her donation and work to turn out supporters to an “Obama Victory Fund” event in Dayton.
“You have been wonderful,” O’Neil wrote. “I would appreciate your $2,500 contribution to our efforts and join us Friday of course.”
In other e-mails, Obama staffers invited Jones-Kelley or any donors she knew to campaign events in Chicago, Omaha and Los Angeles.
The e-mails, produced as part of a media records request, were brought to the governor’s attention Friday, said a spokesman.
In a statement, Strickland said he suspended Jones-Kelley “due to the possibility, as yet unconfirmed, that a state computer or state e-mail account was used to assist in political fund raising.”

I heard Helen Jones-Kelley was on paid leave. Isn’t that sort of like a paid vacation? I’m sure she needs a little R & R after working two jobs throughout this campaign…one for the state of Ohio, for which she was paid, and the other one, investigating Joe the Plumber and sending out emails on behalf of Obama. Who knows if she was paid anything for that one. The people of Ohio should be outraged. If they aren’t, shame on them.

The fact that this woman was put on leave with salary means to me that the state expects to retain her. They’re just getting her out of the limelight for a while and pretending to do something.
People like her don’t have any respect for the founding fathers. After all, the latter somehow weren’t two centuries ahead of their time and didn’t give black people the vote. Of course, they didn’t give white women the vote either, and black folks in Africa were enslaving other black folks, but what the hey! And some bleeding-heart whites, of course, go along with the same thinking. Anything is to be excused regarding Bobo–even if he isn’t really a native-born American. I mean what good was the Constitution when it disenfranchised black men, so what good is it now?

the dims lost their power base with reagan democrats and the south years ago. of course it was a choice made for civil rights legislation in part. but the rest had to do with much more than that. the idea of elite liberals in office and media was peddled by the repubs very successfully. nixon talked about the silent majority. part of it was also in response to the yippies/etc and black power. this scared and worried the silent majority who just wanted to live their lives. sound familiar? i see that happening again.

While Ohio authorities are investigating Helen Jones-Kelley, they should take a closer look at Secretary of State, Jennifer Brunner as well. I sincerely hope John Kasich becomes governor of the Buckeye State. Kasich would restore law and order not just where its most needed but all across the board. A Kasich governorship would have investigaged ACORN. I doubt Kasich would have allowed homeless people to be bused in from other states in order to vote nor would he have been on board with an ACORN recruit voting 72 times (as one admitted before a television camera). And I’m sure Kasich would not have placed much credibility on a bench number as proper credentials for voting!

Reality: this is an AA woman with a hyphenated surname. It could only be worse if she had a hyphenated SPANISH surname.
What will happen is that, after her suspension with pay, she will report to an office somewhere with a novel, a cell phone and a bag of knitting (probably a small TV, too, in Ohio) where she will spend several-to-many work days at the next pay grade or “step” in salary until she can negotiate yet another “step” or two up in salary and an early retirement.
