Quail, Rack of Lamb, Prime Rib, Crab and $500 Bottles of Wine

henryholbeinPresident Bush is conducting a summit with the most gluttonous powerful leaders in the world. The subject: Saving the global economy.

Throughout our country, people are suffering because of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Wall Street greedy CEOs, too much borrowing and not enough saving, buying what you can’t afford and politicians throwing hundreds of billions of dollars around, thus depreciating the dollar and providing a debt for generations to come.

Throughout the world, our economic woes have reverberated. In addition, Mr. Daschle’s ethanol scam (indicative of how easy it is for the greedy to fool America twice), while making millions for himself with winks from Barack Obama, has caused the cost of all other grains to triple in price, thanks to a corn shortage. Grains: the staple of the impoverished.

No doubt Mr. Daschle will be providing major input into our next Energy Policy. And since we won’t be drilling much, what with the election results, count on this Jimmy Carter re-run costing you even more at the grocery store while not one significant whit of foreign oil is replaced by ethanol.

The only thing missing are those sweater-clad Malaise TV chats. Look for them in the future. Perhaps Mr. Bush and his fellow oil magnates will have a good laugh about that while they pop the corks on those those $500 bottles of wine.

banquet1Yes, you heard right. Mr. Bush is feasting with his world-equivalents: All of them out of touch with reality, all of them doing very well for themselves….

….and all of them dining on a Henry VIII banquet consisting of rack of baby lamb, quail, prime rib, crab meat and wine that costs $500 a bottle.

I didn’t catch what they are having for dessert. I just know it’s not going to be jello.

This Pigs Gone Wild feast is being hosted at the White house – and will be paid for by you. Don’t expect these feasts to be more realistic under the New President either.

In keeping with their penchant for all seven of the Deadly SIns, their gout-inducing menu alone is an indicator of just how much they can all relate to the suffering of others. More likely they are all interested in their own investments and looking for ways to buy up more of America.

As you mix your meatloaf tonight, I am sure the irony in all of this will not lost on you, will it now?

Tonight as I feast on my Beluga Caviar (cough), Milk fed Veal (cough), imported Aubergines (cough), and Beren Auslese 1979 (cough) I will toast them.

Tomorrow it’s yachting on The Cape.

Oh wait, that’s not my lifestyle it’s theirs.

Do you actually think the meal would be different under Barry’s Admin? Ha !
I’m thinking of Michelle’s lunch tab in NY….

Prez Bush has really screwed the GOP! Yet he did have the help of the GOP in Congress…..because of their actions, we are now stuck with Bush 11. Barry Soetoro another emotionally scarred indiviual. His past associations and upbringing has left him, looking for love in all the wrong places…just ask Larry Sinclair!

Isn’t this amazing? But yeah, judging from what Obama had at his big victory celebration, I’m thinking there will be a whole lot more dinners like this one!

Ah, let the poor people eat cake, for tonight we feast (apologies to everyone for the blatant liberties taken with those quotes).

Great post, Uppity!

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-11-16 08:32:32

I was listening about the summit, and it sounds as though the world leaders honestly did get their heads wrapped around what needs to be done. I presume the biggest issue was making sure everyone is on board, and I heard this was accomplished.

I agree with Bush that free trade is still the only real path, but the regulatory system must be overhauled and brought into this century. It’s way overdue. I agreed with McCain’s policies on that front.

Hopefully, Obama sees it the same way now. I can’t imagine that he has much choice.

Personally, I’m done with the bailouts. I’m ready to let Detroit sink. But, looks like that won’t happen for now, anyway.

….and all of them dining on a Henry VIII banquet consisting of rack of baby lamb, quail, prime rib, crab meat and wine that costs $500 a bottle.

And many a buxom wench to serve them, no doubt. Sounds like a bad place for vegetarians. Eat hearty, carnivores, the vomitorium is right down the hall.

Comment by Bob White | 2008-11-16 09:06:00

$500 a bottle is pretty expensive. But you’ve never had rack of lamb, quail, prime rib, crab meat? These are not uncommon foods. They’re not ridiculously expensive, just more expensive than hamburger. Should they have served hamburger?

As for rack of baby lamb, is there any other kind of lamb than a baby lamb?

Comment by Tuppence411 | 2008-11-16 09:23:37

Hey Bob- I was at a seminar last week and all I got was a rubbery boneless chicken breast. But then again, I was there to work, not feast.

Comment by Uppity Woman | 2008-11-16 10:22:43

Yes I have had rack of lamb, crab, prime rib, although I have never had quail. The difference is
1. I paid for it myself and didn’t expect YOU to pay for it.
2. I didn’t dine on them all concurrently, like a gluttonous pig.
3. I didn’t do it while presiding over an economic disaster affecting all those people who ARE paying for it–and pretending I care.

Hope this clears things up.

Comment by OBAMA IS A FRAUD | 2008-11-16 10:24:47

You’re also not the President. Big difference. That “everyone being equal” thing and socialist nonsense isn’t in effect yet. And, I myself have those dinners here in the film business all the time. People all over this country, like I said, are having those dinners. Really, this is way too petty. All the Bush hatred is okay if it’s over policy or Iraq and all that stuff. But over hosting a dinner for all of the dignitaries of the world? WAY TOO PETTY.

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-11-16 10:24:54

Quail is usually dry……sorta like dry chicken. *haha

Comment by Baba Rum Raisin | 2008-11-16 11:22:50

I eat a lot of quail, but I shoot it first. This makes dinner more interesting, as the diners nibble daintily to avoid getting #8 shot between their teeth.

What WOULD you have us feed these people in our capital?

Catering from the bus station?
Air Mobility Command box lunches?
Whopper Juniors?
Power bars?
Boone’s Farm, or Mad Dog 20/20?

LOL, I knew you nuts would find a way to somehow bring Obama into this story. It was Obama and his Chicago thugs/Ayers who are responsible for this overpriced meal!!

You people need to get over it. This is the biggest sour grapes fest online short of the white supremacy websites (then again, this website IS a closet white supremacy community).

Hey Lazy Ass.

If you want to control what’s written, then get off your lazy ass and do your own writing–and then find someone who wants to read it.

LMFAO Uppity.

What they don’t get? The “race card” has been played and it’s OVER. They got their affirmative action “President Select.” Now they don’t get the white guilt anymore. Problem is…Fraudbama doesn’t give a damn about them either. He just wanted their votes. Oh well.

100 Million Dollars for the (vile embarrassment) Toga Party at Mile High

100 Million + Dollars for his “I’m The New World Leader” Victory Party

Overall total campaign expenses – 1 Billion Dollars

ROFLMAO

This guy is going to spend our money like a drunken sailor. Who cares what these guys had for dinner at the White House? Much bigger problems are coming. Much bigger.

Ah, what inveterate weisenheimer could ever resist the opportunity to riff on the subject of biomethane? I suspect that the ravenous and loquacious gourmands at the world summit will generate so much gas from both ends of their bodies that Sarah’s pipeline from Alaska may be unnecessary.

Of course, the process of turning quail and crab-meat into methane may not be cost-effective.

So, instead of having a decent dinner at the White House, they should have dined on crap? So they could show the rest of the leaders of the world, what? That we’re nothing anymore. That we’re losers? You guys, really, take the jealousy and put it somewhere else. Do you really begrudge us having a dinner like that and actually making it look like America still has some kind of class and dignity? When will the liberals be happy? When this country is once and for all Cuba and there’s NO WEALTH whatsoever? What’s the MATTER with you people? What I have noticed that is sooo sad is that the left in this country is not going to be happy unless and until there is nothing of America left. Nothing. Big deal. A fancy dinner. People are serving that stuff at weddings, parties, all kinds of events all over this country every day of the week. If you guys are going to obsess over what the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES serves for dinner, God help you. WTF?

You don’t think that $500 wine is a little much?

Do they really need to eat so luxuriously to come to an agreement about saving their countries?

You think they “deserve” this lush treatment? I agree, it’s offensive, particularly at a time when the world’s economies are in trouble.

Good article, as usual, Uppity…

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-11-16 11:26:46

Not really. I think that wine grows in price as it is held in abeyance.

Someone has to drink those super-duper bottles.

I just hope, frankly, that once in my life I’ll drink a glass of wine that ISN’T 40 bucks. *haha

To me? That’s decadent stuff!

I love to imagine what a $500 bottle must taste like.

Comment by OBAMA IS A FRAUD | 2008-11-16 11:31:16

No, I don’t think the $500/Bottle wine is too much. But if anyone paid ATTENTION and actually READ about it…It was ALREADY in the White House wine cellar and was bought a long time ago for $300/Bottle. That said, this is RIDICULOUS. I myself drink that kind of wine for celebration. WTF? You guys don’t get it. It’s never going to be appropriate for the White House to serve franks and beans. If that’s what YOU eat, I’m sorry. If you don’t get WHY there should be some elegance and DIGNITY in the White House, then it’s what I suspect. Liberal Jealousy. You people can’t even do what Anninca is doing – discuss the OUTCOME of this meeting. Kind of telling, actually. That people would rather piss on some bottle of wine, than to hear what our financial destiny is. That sure does tell ME a lot. Wow is this scary.

I have to admit, this attitude reminds me a lot of the outrage over Palin’s wardrobe.

I never got that story at all, either.

Like we’d want someone running for office dressed from Target?

Or world leaders who order beans and ham?

I don’t get the jealousy of what others wear or eat, but then I think I eat just fine and maybe too fine for my own good sometimes.

I’m sure all these world leaders have their own favorite cheap meal.

Bill Clinton used to love Big Mac specials.

Comment by OBAMA IS A FRAUD | 2008-11-16 10:21:18

Comment by OBAMA IS A FRAUD | 2008-11-16 10:44:08

Shadow…I’m not sure it’s Republicans or not. But what I think you have to do to be here is:

1) Hate Bush and blame him for everything wrong in this country, even if he had nothing to do with it.

2) Worship Hillary.

If you do those things you will be okay. Otherwise get ready to have your azz handed to you.

Comment by shadow | 2008-11-16 10:52:41

Well, I guess I’ll have to find another site to read. LOL. Bush is not responsible for everything bad in this country. That’s the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. If that theory is correct, then Obama is going to be responsible for every bad thing effective Jan. 20th.

Comment by OBAMA IS A FRAUD | 2008-11-16 11:00:30

Yes it’s frustrating. The Liberals gave us Fannie and Freddie but won’t cop to their part in all of this. That’s WHY we’re here and for some reason they don’t admit to the nuts in Congress dragging us into hell since they took control. I think someone here is right about the GOP being thrilled that Fraudbama won. More destruction of the country by the libbys and then the GOP can take it back in 2010. Once and for all the libby are going to have to stop blaming Bush for their foot fungus and move on.

OIAF missed missed some more requirements to be welcome here. The unstated “roolz” are you have to

1) Hate Bush and blame him for everything wrong in this country, even if he had nothing to do with it.

2) Hate Obama and blame him for everything wrong in this country, even if he had nothing to do with it.

3) Worship Hillary, but hate that she is still a Democratic Senator and may become Secretary of State or some other position. It also helps to Undermine her by spreading lies on Fox TV about clearing her debt.

4) Worship Palin as a strong future President, except demand that McCain stands up for the fairer sex.

Add in some more hate of people who voted for Obama and random Democrats and you are getting there. Add in some lies about birth certificates (where is that photoshop expert friend of TexasDarlin), meals in NY, muggers scrawling B on some fools face, blaming McCain for Palins bead press, and you have what NoQuarter has become.

Comment by OBAMA IS A FRAUD | 2008-11-16 11:35:39

I hope you’re not referring to me as a “far right wing Republican” Ann. That’s not true and I didn’t vote for Bush either time. I just respect him for keeping me safe and I realize that after January 20th I will have no sleep whatsoever. It doesn’t make you a “far right wing Republican” to not hate Bush. Frankly, I’m really shocked at how much time is spent here on Bush when he’s not our problem anymore. It would seem maybe more productive to think about what we can all do to go forward, rather than keep up blaming Bush, blaming McCain, etc. The Dems brought us Obama and now we have to suffer through it and it’s going to be a mess.

Comment by Americas Soul | 2008-11-16 12:59:43

The largest terrorist incident on American soil happened on his watch. He was warned and did NOTHING. But yeah he kept you safe.

He and his VP buddy shredded the Constitution of hard fought for freedoms, starting an illegal war and legalizing torture. Buy yeah he forced freedom on others while tearing it from America. How many more Soldiers and innocent civilians have died?

The largest deficit in history. The economy in the cess pit never mind the tank.

Hourly pay for hard Working Americans actually fell under Bush. He gave tax cuts to thee richest that we all have to pay for. Yeah. He kept you safe.

Opposition does not win elections, Governments lose them. It is the GOP that gave us the Obama victory. So is that really the summation of the Bush legacy? Obama?

Would you mind providing me with what YOU think the menu should be? And I think it’s appropriate to have an elegant dinner when the world leaders are there. Should we show weakness and serve beans and franks? Nice. I don’t agree with EXORBITANT spending like Fraudbama did, no. Big difference between spending 100 Million in one night and having a nice dinner. Period.

Comment by oowawa | 2008-11-16 10:59:14

Yes Uppity. I “find them both odious” also. This rift in NQ participants was inevitable. On this site, for a while, there was a coalition of PUMAs and Republicans, united behind a common goal of stopping Obama. Sarah also united us. Now that the election is over, the battle-lines are shifting, and old animosities are starting to re-emerge. This thread seems to have brought some of these differences to the surface. Oh well. The mutual respect and cooperation was really nice while it lasted. And actually, there’s no reason we can’t go forward on our common ground. Country first.

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-11-16 11:13:07

I’m a bit of a nut about not joining cheerleader groups. Makes me crazy.

Perhaps this isn’t a rift as much as a shift toward actual discussion and exchange of perspectives?

I still say, the blog that figures out how to do that is the one that will lead the way into the next decade of media.

People don’t always want a rubberstamp approval.

A bit of debate is good for the soul.

Or so I think.

Comment by Americas Soul | 2008-11-16 11:33:50

I know that I may be “offensive” when I strongly disagree. I also know I never once violate stated policies.

It’s laughable.

And wait until MeChelle puts her disco ball in the Oval Office. We saw how TASTEFUL that hideous game show set stage was for the Toga Party. Get ready for some really expensive nasty crap in the White House. All on us. And, no, I will NOT begrudge Fraudbama having a NECESSARY dinner with some elegance. Way different. I guess y’all should go back and look at the menus from the Clintons. ROFLMAO. Go look. Same stuff.

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-11-16 10:40:07

Oh come on……who cares. Who bowls in the White House, anyway?

That’s so 1950’s.

I once got into this funny obsession and read every single tell-all book about the Reagans. She took such heat, btw, for “regifting.”

I thought, “Shoot, I bet regifting from a first lady is pretty good stuff!”

The point is….this is all petty crud.

What’s interesting to me about this summit is that the world leaders agreed to cooperate. I know this is a much harder discussion, but that’s really what was radical here. Not the menu.

This is an astounding moment in my own life, to be honest. This is the first time I’ve ever seen world leaders come together and agree to cooperate globally on economic issues.

Now, we’ll have to see what that actually means.

While I’m commenting on this, btw, I thought Bush’s remarks on keeping up on our commitments to various projects to prevent world-wide starvation/death through diseases, etc., was excellent.

It had been on my mind, and I was worried that we’d draw back into such defensiveness that we would cut those programs out. I would not ever agree that’s a smart move.

I was glad to see he agrees. I’m sure Obama will also agree.

So that relieved my mind on one issue.

Geeze’um people. No one is saying there is not a time or place for excessive elegance to be on display in the Whitehouse. But this gathering was not a social event. It wasn’t a state dinner or a ball. It was an economic summit. A working meeting to deal with global issues of the financial meltdown. If the participants had shown up in tuxes and gowns instead of business attire, the inappropriateness of that would be clear to everyone. The situation called for restraint, and that included the dang menu.

Lamb Ribs, Quail and Steak (or however they cut and cooked it) is in reality not exactly pushing the boat out. For World Leaders?

As for $500 wine bottles. It was probably cellar wine kept for these occasions. It has probably vintaged in that cellar. Economic Summits with 20 World Leaders do not happen in the White House on a weekly basis.

My God is this petty. Well, I hope everyone feels this way when Fraudbama starts spending like a madman.

There has to be some irony in a dinner like this with leaders there to discuss how bad things are for everyone else in their countries.

End of message.

The menu isn’t that extravagant. Should we serve pizza to world leaders?
