Jesse *let me repeat* Jackson, “I met with Blagojevich for the first time in four years, on Tuesday.”
Now, perhaps he means in an actual conference room, with pens, pads of paper, and donuts (or bagels), but it’s not *just words* in these situations. I would think, during a press conference, in a serious situation such as this, you would be very, very careful.
Because, as I read on Newsbusters, here is Jesse last August, tearfully hugging Blagojevich. There is much more here, at newbusters, from P.J. Gladnick.
It sure sounds like, according to the reports, that someone was offering to pony up, up to a million big ones, for Jesse to get the Senate seat. So, he needs to be very careful about what he denies, and when he denies it happened.
And if Obama has nothing to hide, in addition to all the scrubbing going on wrt news stories, why are they now scrubbing their own web site, and not allowing any Blago questions? From Politico: Blagojevich questions censored on Transition site
Politico has another article called * 7 Blago questions for Obama*. Too bad anytime someone tries to ask Obama those questions, they are deleted.
Like I said in my previous post, it doesn’t sound like, according to the phone calls, that Obama agreed to any kind of pay for play. But, he denied any contact at all, which doesn’t appear to be true. And that leads one to believe that he at least KNEW that Blago wanted something for the seat. Every one seems to agree on that - that Obama’s team was not agreeing to pay to play. Also, I want to know why Obama continued to endorse him and stand by him for the last four years, when, according to Chuch Todd and Joe Scarborough, everyone knew Blago was corrupt.
I am just not buying the excuses that neither Jackson or Obama knew Blago was corrupt. Shocked and saddened just don’t fly.
Obama said today in his press conference that he personally has not had contact with Blago, but they are pulling together all the info they can, about who might have, from his camp, had talks with Blago about the Senate seat. We know someone did….

Well…the majority of you folks know that I am one of the biggest critics of Obama, but, I do believe he is innocent on this one. I am not saying that his advisors are not guilty- the famous Valerie and David might be involved, but, Obama? Nope….I think this one was done behind his back. They probably thought that the annointed one would look the other way and if by chance they were caught- he and then he would find some way of explaining the situation to the good to cover them. There is MUCH more to this story but for all of us that have been trying to dismantle the false prophet- this is not one of them. I believe and predict that someone in his past is going to show up after “everybody” is over the love for this man- and that person is going to do some big damage concerning him. I will bid my time waiting because evil always undresses in the end. Doesn’t it?
I’m with you SOC. If we cry wolf everytime some little tangential thing comes up about Obama, nobody’s gonna believe us when the real scandal goes down. The MSM will say, that’s what they said the last ten times.

This is nothing tangential bob. It is souring all Democratic politicians around BO and in Illinois. This is a real sour deal and it falls on the lap of OBanana you know more than on the lap of Blago. I’m sorry, whether it was Obama or somebody else from the cesspool of Chicago politics, they knew or had been advised by a staff member, what was coming down. It’s real easy to say “I know nothing” for Obama. He’s been doing the same thing since he began his political career when its expedient for him to do so. I don’t buy it for a minute. He will escape again because he is smart enough to know how to weasel out of anything, but he knew.

Absolutely. BO had no idea? Hah! I am totally certain that BO and MO knew without even having to think about it what the options looked like, and the most I expect is that someone tipped someone off in time to make it look like Jarrett was not interested anyway. Which, by the way, I don’t actually believe, and won’t believe, until I see someone else nominated, confirmed, and seated.
The Rezko house deal makes it clear, as do bits of the affidavit and complaint, that BO is someone who thinks in terms of longterm scams, and has no problem setting up play-now pay-later schemes.

Obama has NOT been implicated in this. He has never been close to Blagojavich, even though he endorsed him for governor. They did not like each other - it was well known. Of course some of his staff much have talked to Blago about the senate seat - but that doesn’t mean they were negotiating. And Obama NEVER wasnted Valeri Jarrett to take the senate seat - EVER. He made it very clear he wanted her in Washington as his advisor and she withdrew her name. Everyone knew Blago was a scum - but so are a lot of politicians, what else is new.

I disagree. I believe Obama is guilty. It does not fit, after the past twelve months, that people in high places would not expect pay back from Obama. It does, however, fit that Obama feels he no longer needs them so he no longer needs to play the game….at least not with anyone he no longer needs. Obama always tries to look like his hands are clean when I believe they seldom are.

I am sure that because Obama sits back and lets everyone else do his dirty work, he can say, and believe his own lie, that he had no involvement in this. I suppose he and everyone else involved in this mess subscribes to the belief that if you tell a lie enough times it eventually becomes the truth.
The term you’re looking for is plausible deniability. Obama’s gonna use it for the next 4-8 years to effectively stay out of trouble. The only way he’s gonna get caught is if someone sets an effective trap and he falls for it, a la Monica Lewinsky. Bill’s weakness was sex. Bush’s weakness is pride. Now, what’s Obama’s weakness?

What is Obama’s weakness? Read his poem about Frank Davis. That poem “POP” was a poem discussing the sexual arouse from drinking and the stains that arise from it. The smelling of each others pants was definitely indicating that Obama has a sexual problem. Whether the church Trinity helped him and his marriage erased the urges, I say, it will be the urges that will break him at the end. If as of today, Mr. Obama has not the strength to stop smoking, what strenght does he have for his sexual craves? Sexual cravings are the hardest to overcome. I bet on those urges to be his downfall, just, like our slick willy Clinton. A heartattack finally put Bill in his wife’s arms after a big battle with his urges. I keep my bet on “someone” coming up to the front in 2 years from now. Money talks, but, after awhile, when the hush money stop- many will come out to the limelight! When you are President- it is not for money- but for power. Money becomes less and greed sinks in.

Apart from anything psychopathological, the main weakness is a boring old classical fault: hubris, overweening pride. He has oversold expectations, and millions are waiting for him to make the oceans stop rising. Maybe he really believes in his own miraculous powers and his divine destiny, I don’t know. But this is definitely shaping up to be a tragedy worthy of Shakespeare. There are plenty of villains (erstwhile friends) milling around to kick the plot along. If this thing has a happy ending, it will run contrary to the general themes of world literature.
Delusions of grandeur. Obama is smarter than Bush, but probably just as easily led around by the ego. I think he’s really starting to believe his own press.

Another key point: Blago’s chief of staff, John Harris, worked for years in the Mayor Daley office, along with Valerie Jarrett and Michelle Obama.
Whole LOTTA info Harris can share with Fitzgerald, given that Daley is one of Fitz’s main targets in the Illinois investigation.
Would Harris know how and why Michelle Obama got that huge raise after the earmark, or how Michelle got appointed to corporate boards for “extra income,” or how Michelle got their house designated as Historical, thus enabling no property tax for 10 years?
I suspect Harris knows a whole lotta things, as in , where the bodies are buried.
It’s Harris’s work in the mayor’s office that can get the whole crowd in trouble.

Rezko Sentencing May Be Delayed Again
CHICAGO (STNG) ― The on-again, off-again sentencing of Antoin “Tony” Rezko could be off again.
On Thursday morning, U.S. District Judge Amy St. Eve canceled deadlines by which lawyers were to submit filings on the sentencing of the Wilmette businessman.
Rezko was to be sentenced Jan. 6 — a rushed date he recently requested as he seeks to be freed from solitary confinement.

My concern is that any prolonged investigation and prosecution of Obama or those that protected us in the war on terror will be detrimental to our countries survival.
This is THE moment in time when the consequences of 911 and Iraq come home.
To have an administration that mirrors Nixon’s second term at a time of world collapse and economic ruin means that we are at the highest risk ever!
That’s ridiculously unrealistic and overly optimistic. This will be something like the 4th time the Chg machine has been busted at the level of the governor, but obviously that does not go deep enough or far enough into the network of virtually permanent deals and pay/play mechanisms used in that state.
So if Fitz is really going to make a bigger difference than has been made before, this investigation has to get at all of the biggest players and leave the rest with no way to play.

Obama’s chickens are coming home to roost! I think Fitzgerald stopped the investigation and arrested Blago because it was getting very close to Obama. Otherwise Fitzgerald would have waited for a money exchange. As it stands now Blago only talked about it. The arrogance of Blago and Obama should do them both in.
No — read the whole complaint — the senate seat payoff was just one of three main bad acts set out there. Not having been caught out (that we know of yet) re the senate seat does not mean that there isn’t lots of stuff re BO re the other areas of corruption, or that there aren’t other investigations going on re things that have not surfaced yet. That whole board restructuring must be rife with info, and how BO/MO expect to get away with that house deal with Rezko/Auchi is beyond me.
Kal I am with you. That’s why Blago went to work today as if nothing has happened. Blago is no dummy. Fitz has tapes, Blago has tapes. Fitz has documents, Blago has documents. Fitz is repulsed, Blago was much more repulsive stuff on other than Fitz has on him. Blago is going to go out in a firestorm. His book will break all records for bestsellers ever.

I am having a hard time thinking that we should assume Fitzgerald is totally reliable and that he would out Obama. If his job is at risk and his family too possibly, why would he go after the One? He’s walking through that snake pit everyday and we are supposed to believe he couldn’t be “influenced” to look the other way about things related to indicting/accusing Obama for anything? I dunno, but I have some doubts about Fitz ever being able to do that. Hope I’m wrong, or that he gets mad enough or that he is ethical enough, to do it no matter the consequences if there is concrete evidence to support him.
As an AA resident of Chicago, Illinois, I can tell you that Mr. Fitzgerald has been putting crooked Illinois politicans and their pals in jail for several years. He has a stellar reputation. One of the many reasons that I actually prayed that Obama would be defeated was that I and many citizens of Illinois felt that we would lose Mr. Fitzgerald for sure. We probably still will lose him. I hope that Mr. Fitzgerald will put out all that he has. He is a careful, methodical prosecuter. He has done as much as one individual can do to make a dent in the corrupt politics that is deep in the core of Chicago and Illinois politics.

He also teared up at his useless news conference the other day when talking about a letter he received from his “little sister” urging him to keep fighting for the Illinois Senate seat.
