I must admit to being very worried at this point in time. Once again, Obama is “sobered and saddened’ by the horrid revelations surrounding the arrest of Governor Blagojevich, and once again, P.E. Obama seems to be contradicting himself and/or his campaign manager about meetings or conversations that took place or did not take place in re finding the replacement for his Senate seat. But he has not been accused of anything. Why evade? Isn’t telling the truth so much simpler?
Confusing. Perhaps you can help me to clarify the butter here.
It is tough enough to fathom how a nation with grievous economic difficulties at home and two wars abroad can elect a man with no governing experience, no executive experience and very little legislative experience. Perhaps George Bush so lowered the bar, people figure – ‘hey, how bad can this guy do? At least he gives a good speech.’

No matter how unhappy I am with his election or how he got here, I have been pleased with at least some of his cabinet picks. Hmmm. Perhaps he is exhibiting some of that ‘good judgment’ that his supporters keep touting after all.
Surely it is excellent judgment to nominate Senator Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State (no matter how he lied about her ‘lack of experience’ during the campaign). Probably a good idea to keep Robert Gates on as Defense Secretary to insure a smooth transition given our situation in Iraq and Afghanistan. Appointing Rahm Emanuel as Chief of Staff, not my favorite pick, but a Hillary fan and a solid enforcer who knows how to get things done and knows where the bodies are buried (which, as it turns out, could be good or bad for him with Chicago festering and ready to explode). Also, his appointing 80% Clintonistas tells me that the self-described “delegator,” P.E. Obama, is smart enough to know what he doesn’t know and hire some adults to mind the store. So far, so good.
So here’s my problem with him in the judgment department. How can a man with the political savvy the media and his followers keep trumpeting be goofy enough to surround himself for twenty years with the likes of Rev. Wright, Rev. Pfleger, Tony Rezko, Bill Ayers (now practicing revisionist history on every talk show and newspaper who will have him), Emil Jones, Gov. Blagojevich, Mayor Daley, Jim Johnson, Penny Pritzker, et al….I could go on singing!
According to Politico:
During [Blagojevich’s] reelection campaign in 2006 – with press reports swirling about a grand jury investigation into Blagojevich’s alleged jobs-for-contributions scheme – Obama praised the governor as a leader “who has delivered consistently on behalf of the people of Illinois.”
Yep. He sure exhibited some good judgment there. And didn’t he endorse someone else who got arrested recently? Kwame Kilpatrick, I believe.
Never mind ‘surrounding’ himself with these people, and praising them, surely not the work of someone with good judgment, but when questioned on their negative influence, their crooked actions, questionable ethics or downright criminal behavior, his answer is invariably one of the following:
I didn’t know.
I thought he was reformed.
We never spoke.
Oops, that was a boneheaded move.
He doesn’t work for me.
This is not the man I knew.
I am sobered and saddened.
Come one fellas, can’t I just eat my waffle?
As far as hearing Rev. Wright’s incendiary and racist America-bashing sermons, P.E. Obama contradicted himself on mainstream news six times in one week: ‘I knew. I didn’t know. I knew. I didn’t know.’

It’s downright exhausting keeping track of so many fibs. It is even harder to do this because the press won’t do their jobs and keep track of them for us. Articles getting scrubbed, altered history left and right. What’s a girl to do?
I know Rev. Wright is considered old news to Obama’s more virulent supporters and the media, who keep insisting there is ‘nothing to see here.” They say this even though Wright just came out this weekend to declare the TUCC is responsible for giving us our first black President. But riddle me this, Batman: if a man sits in a church for 20 years where this vile stuff is expounded regularly and gets married by this man and baptizes his children there – he does so for one of two reasons – either he believes this stuff – or he just sat there for TWENTY years for political street cred. Or he slept in church for TWENTY years.
Unfortunately, there is no good way to spin that. Just as there is no good way to spin so many of his other actions and policy reversals. Gee, he hasn’t even been inaugurated yet. What a supreme mess.
So I guess my question is, how much can Mr. Supercalifragilistic-Expialidocously Triple-Coated Teflon Man get away with before the American people start to wonder about a leader who doesn’t ever seem to notice stuff that is happening right under his own nose? Assuming for the moment that it is mere ignorance and not complicity.
I have made mention of this in the past, but I want a President who is going to protect us, not one we have to protect. Everyone in the media is dancing circles around themselves to make sure we know how honorable he is. Do they protest too much? Why is this even necessary?
I guess media talking heads need to protect their investment, since they have so touted Obama, any revelation denting the armor of their ‘chosen one’ would irreparably tarnish their reputations. Well, I hate to tell you, MSM, but that ship already sailed.
I thought the whole reason he was able to get some mileage over the more qualified candidate, Senator Hillary Clinton, was that he was supposed to be the “new kind of politics” – a fresh way of doing business in Washington – yet he was and is surrounded by very unsavory influences indeed, and seems very much at home with them all.
And after the fact, he behaves as though he knew nothing, saw nothing, said nothing, heard nothing.
Without even accusing President Elect Obama of wrongdoing, I am terrified at having our leader be someone who constantly acts like he is walking around with his head in a fart, with no knowledge of anything that is happening around him. And that is giving him the benefit of the doubt.
But anyone who has been caught dissembling as much as President-Elect Obama has, stopped getting the benefit of the doubt a long time ago.
Right now, it looks as though we have two choices: he is ignorant of all of this or is being dishonest about his involvement. Which is worse? I can certainly understand his voters aching to believe him when he says this stuff, because they voted for a romantic idea and would hate to see their hopes come crashing down. I worry about a crash too, albeit for very different reasons.
What are you hearing out there? Any buyer’s remorse? Is anyone else concerned?

A feeling of overwhelming dread — that’s how I feel.
Many of us had a similar feeling in the pit of our stomach when GWB was selected in 2000. He was a rich boy, frat boy who had gotten by on the power of his last name all his life. We knew he was going to be a disaster and he has been.
I have a similar feeling this time, with this Chicago thug. I did my research, just like I did 8 years ago and Obama doesn’t have the leadership skills require for a job like Prez of the US.
PEBO has spent a huge chunk of his life surrounded by the vilest of characters — our choice of friends really shapes who we are.
If I were a parent — knowing that Obama will compound all of GWB’s errors — plus add a whole lot of missteps of his own — I’d be freaking out more than I am now. Thankfully I don’t have children. Today’s kids will be paying for the poor choices of their parents (the ones who voted for 0zero.)
I’ve been freaked out ever since the caucus — because I had Jewish neighbors who managed to escape from Berlin just in time. The thugs in the caucus were exactly like the brownshirts that my neighbors told me about who broke into their apartment.
I’m freaked out because Obama has so many secrets — and yet he wants full information on everyone — he has created extensive data collections systems to track millions of people. I’ve heard stories how phone numbers and addresses have been linked — many cell phone numbers that should NOT be in a database.
Obama is a freak — and he’s a habitual liar.
I have the same feeling the moment he launched his candidacy. Where are those people who put him
there? Are they coming out when everything else is put in place?

I agree. He’s a habitual liar. His first response to any sniff of trouble is to say he knew nothing. Reminds me of that fat Sargent Schultz in Hogan’s Heros.
If he really knows nothing about all this, then the guy is badly out of touch and is surely not savvy enough to be a president. If he knows what’s going on and he’s lying, like I believe, we’re in for another Nixonian presidency.
The Law of Sowing and Reaping is operating in this situation and if you sow bad seeds then you will have a tree or a plant that is rotten and will bear lousy fruit. God’s Word will not return to him void. The word has been out there for thousands of years and yet people still think they can get away with doing the wrong thing, they think everything will turn out alright in the end. I agree with almost everything “Except” the Rahm Emanual praise. I believe he’s been in this from the beginning. The day I saw James Clyburn throw “President Clinton under-the-bus”; Rahm was off to the side “encouraging him”.
He was NEVER neutral.
Another “good judgment”: moving the DNC to Chicago. Now the whole Dem party will be imbued with the stench. And deservedly so.
I agree with you both. I too have a sick feeling in my stomach, and it goes beyond that. I wonder, have we become so accustomen to the inemptness of our leaders that we have extraordinarily low expectations? I have to fight the sense of numbness I feel at times. This has been going on so long, with 8 years of GWB and now at least another 4 of this zero, I am torn between at times wanting to turn away and hide, and digging in my heels and fighting. I am still reeling at the realization that this is my unadulterated reality: Obama is going to be sworn in Jan. 20th as POTUS. How could this happen? Why did this happen? Oh boy.
Oh, dear, I hate to heighten the gloom and doom but I have always served the “daughter of time: truth.”

Patrick Fitzgerald is doing a good job. In the Plame case he got Libby and was going to sweat him until he gave up his bosses. Bush derailed that with his pardon.
He is doing the same with Rezko who gave up Blagojevich. Working his way up the ladder.
Notice how the republicans whine that Scooter wasn’t the fist person to divulge that Valerie Wilson nee Plame was an operative so Libby’s prosecution was unfair. They ignore the fact that Fitz got him for lying to the grand jury not that he blabbed about a CIA NOC.
Remember how Carl Rove kept going back to testify as he “remembered” the facts of his involvement?

I don’t count the Plame case as being over, one way or another.
It must be made clear treason will not be tolerated, and TPTB, the ones who really run this country, not the oil guys, have to see to it.
Plame is not isolated from the rest, including the illegality of the wars, GITMO, the whole web. It was/is highly delusional for that group to think they could commit acts of this nature, “a weekend in Vegas” with the federal government, the treasury, the military, intelligence, and walk away.
Look at AIG, if it goes, it affects the abilty to conduct the wars, something they dont like to think about, reality too difficult to integrate, selectively pretending so much easier. And when they pretend, they exacerbate the current situation, their problems worsening. At a certain point, competent people have to take charge.

I expect O to promote Fitz to some higher position where he can do less immediate damage. Then he can take credit for promoting the corruption-fighter while actually stopping his corruption-fighting.
PE-Obama leaves no fingerprints. That has been his whole life’s story. He neither confirms nor denies; he releases no records, and those that he cannot lock he scrubs; he expresses sadness or sympathy or denial or whatever, but he does not actually take a postion; he encourges decision-taking, but speaks of them in platitues.
He is not a teflon personality, and he is not a spin-meister; he has mastered the act of effacing himself while standing out in front. He is appointing a savvy and competent cabinet who will make and broadcast the decisions, but who will also be discarded immediately upon anything significantly controversial that arises.
I, too, have a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. You can get away with this self-effacement as long as things go reasonably well. But when this nation and this world has a crisis which will truly exemplify the “lonliness of command”, his emptiness will be revealed at a the worst possible time. I’ve heard from many BO supporters that they are “not worried about this at all”.
I don’t know about anyone else, but when I’m “not worried”, my eyes don’t dart to and fro, my upper lip doesn’t spring beads of sweat, and I don’t change the subject to sports in the same breath (especially when everyone who knows me knows that I don’t have the slightest interest in ball games)
This is gonna be big, and so far what I can see is that Rezko is the common link among all the Blogojevich associations. How long before anyone in the MSM makes that connection? My guess is that this will just be swept under the rug with Wright, Young, Sinclair and the birth certificate.

SCOTUS and the lower courts are simply saying that without damages there is no standing in the courts for bc issues. I agree w/the courts.
Let him take the oath of office on his own recognizance as a personal liability act. Then when he causes damages, let the people sue on the basis of eligibility.
The danger of that is that his option to suffice will be to declare himself ‘King’ of the country, aka, constitutional crisis.
But I think SCOTUS also is one of our faithful honest institutions that cannot wait any longer for a crisis of enormous magnitude befall on us as a nation. We as a country can’t wait for total chaos. The news cycle have become boring.

Sinclair is an absolute lying nut case and a con man who has been in jail for 27 years who still cons people out of money.
Obama has only corrupt associates in his past and that is a proven fact but Sinclair is an opportunist and has nothing to do with anything.

Excellent. The Realtor’s Association are saying buy a house now because home values have always bounced back. Lets give money to prevent foreclosures so house prices remain high and you have to work your azz off and never amount to anything. Lets create a system where investing is better than saving because who cares when investments go sour, you can always work more.
We seem desperate now for a good inflation rate in the 60 to 80 percent a year or more. That’s seems what we want and we cannot wait for it to come soon enough. Don’t worry, Obama will make sure we’ll get it.
lark, savings sitting there aren’t serving as well as a good investment. having said that, a good investment is hard to find. housing overall is a good investment as is energy. people need both. what goes down comes back up. that is the market. an investor might switch to multihousing rentals during down times, etc. i would also recommend investing in housing strictly for boomers. i am considering in investing in housing close to my old university. of course, you need to learn what to do first. fortunately there are good books and free seminars out there.

I was thinking about that last night, why Obama, and really, I don’t like the answer.

I’m certain Hillary was sabotaged because she knew how to play the game better than they did and could beat them at their own game, making it possible for her to act in the best interest of the people. Sarah Palin, a different kind of threat to the “system”, because she’s the “real deal” and a true reformer with the political courage to take on corruption and expose it.
Obama is the proof that we no longer have a democracy nor a government “of, by and for the people.”
I think BO was chosen by the Chg gang, but belatedly, only when they realized that Blag was not going to cut it.
Here is why I think this:
Think back to 2000, when Fla. still had some legal challenges regardless of how Bush v Gore in the Supreme Ct was going to turn out — remember who the front guy for the DNC was then? Right — Daley.
And just when I fully expected the Daley-led Dems to push back real hard on Fla. for one last effort, Daley got on tv and said they were dropping their suits in the interests of unifying the country etc. As someone from Chg, I immediately recognized that move as being completely out of character for Chg Daley dems, and wondered what was up.
I think that what was up was that even as the Repubs stole the election in Fla in 2000, the Chg Daley dems were realizing that it was easier to do than perhaps previously believed — and so they backed out simply because they figured that if stealing it was going to be ok, they just needed a little lead time. (Obviously whatever they had set up for 2000 was not working, or maybe they figured Gore was just someone they couldn’t work with anyway.)
Anyway, if BO was already in there building up political chits, and if the Chg gang realized that they needed to be grooming generations of good front men, I am not surprised that they had Blag lined up for 2008 and then BO for afters. The fact that the scam worked even when they had to use BO earlier than expected simply reflects, in my humble opinion, the depth and breadth of the groundwork that they started doing right away in 2000.
Just a hunch.
I had hopes that this investigation would be big, but those hopes are fading. CNN just announced that Rahm emmanuel and Jesse Jackson Jr. have both been told that they are not targets in this investigation. I’m not sure where this info came from, but it would not surprise me. I would really like to know who it is who wants Barrakula in office so badly and why. I hope I know this answer before I die. It will bother me until the truth comes out.
I have always been upset by the Rezko mess and could not for the life of me understand why McCain wouldn’t go after that line against Barfy. I have told people all along that either Obama is very corrupt or he is just plain stupid and neither quality will be acceptable to me in a POTUS. I also have said repeatedly, the guy came out of nowhere and you have to ask your self this:
If there is no good reason for a sudden rise to power, there has to be a bad reason. To which I was told, “You are overthinking this too much”.
It makes me sick, Obama the don’t ask, he won’t tell, get out of jail free card POTUS.

I’m not so sure about that. ‘Not implicated in this affidavit’ and ‘not the targets of this investigation’ are quite indeterminate phrases — until we find out what Fitz means by ‘this.’ Lawyers tend to think in terms of specifics; for example, ‘this investigation’ could well simply be the investigation needed to generate enough evidence to support specific corruption charges against (1) Blag + (2) Harris, but not against anyone else who is not named in the documents released last Tues. Same thing with ‘this affidavit.’ In a lawyer’s mind, that is an accurate way to describe the affidavit released Tues. even though a very similar affidavit re pols #3 or #4 could well be the focus of ‘another investigation’ and would involve the release of ‘another affidavit’ with new names and events set out in them.
Actually, I have been very interested to notice that all the key players seem to be parsing their words very carefully, almost as if they were thinking at this level of literalness.

I think Blago will be found not guilty because the appointment was his function and he can entertain any advancements as long as he didn’t bite into one. And as far as I know he didn’t.

My take on all of this - birth certificate, Blago etc…. is that Cheney knows the details, has the goods, and he either has Obama by the short hairs, or will let him twist in the wind for a bit longer. And the fawning Democrats and liberals won’t have a clue for along time.
